Do you ever just look at something in a chart and want to shake a doctor until malpractice stops falling out?
In completely unrelated news, my incredibly unimportant ass has emails to write.

Doctor Mike Reacts To "The Last Of Us"
Something that scratches the itch in my gremlin brain is watching other healthcare professionals get upset at fictional media so I don't have to. It makes me internally Grinch-smile.

The burnout has set back in & it’s not because I have a baby. I’ve adjusted to that.
I just cannot adjust to knowing a car wash manager makes more than I do but isn’t responsible for human lives.

This is a notice to everyone.
DO. NOT. GO. INTO. HEALTHCARE.
especially right now. It’s draining mentally, emotionally and physically. I’ve been a CNA/GNA for five and a half years. I’ve loved my job up until COVID hit. I loved helping people and seeing them get better, and hated crying with my coworkers when others passed. But I’ve also been hit, kicked, called slurs, been punched and given a concussion, and had my scrub top literally ripped off of me and my supervisor refused to let me go get another (even tho I live a few minutes away). Last night I explained to someone that I want them to do as much as they can, so they get better. I’ve seen them get up and do things on their own, and they begin to gaslight both me and my coworkers. Telling me that I should not be in this profession. (Note, I am one of the people that works my ass off. I’ve done 20 day stretches because of how short we were and how desperate staffing is.) that set something off in me. I broke. I helped them with what they needed and ran to the bathroom sobbing. I could not keep it together. When the director of nursing came in, I explained the situation. I explained how I feel abused at this job, we are all burnt out and I was quite literally crying for help. I explained how I almost walked out of the job. I also explained I have been in the ER and to the doctor multiple times for severe pain from my job. All I got in response was “I’m glad you didn’t”. Management doesn’t care about us. They care that the patients are content and they are getting money. I couldn’t breathe and she just stood there and stared at me. They work us shorter and shorter every day. Then beg us to come in for “bonus money” because people call out. These conditions are unbearable. We have had multiple people walk out on the job, knowing they will lose any certification they have. We have waves of people quitting every week it seems, and understandably so. The expectations are too high for such few staff. And we are given more to do every day. Whatever you do. Healthcare is not worth it anymore. It’s constant burnout and you’re never guaranteed days to yourself. There is so much more I can share. But I’ll keep it at this. If you have any questions as my experience as an aide, feel free to ask away.

shut the up fuck
(this sentence will read differently when i don‘t have more „masks“ to give out — edit: a post, a flop, such is the internet. genuinely i don‘t care how out of date this post is if u can get ahold of me the offer is still valid)
hi ik i don‘t have many followers rn but i got into a spat with someone protecting corporate interests during this time of COVID when they literally sent us all out to die and steal priceless resources from us (our own health and ability to produce labor under their backwards ass system). I assume this anon is related because I‘ve done little else other than angst about ships and that‘s usually not controversial lmao.
The point of the post that @project-butch made was that we should all be wearing masks (preferably N95s) because disease is a fuck and if they won‘t protect us we gotta. On that note if you are any of:
- disabled (esp, sensitive to covid)
- have financial need
- are a frontline worker
send me an ask or a message with a little about the effect that COVID has had on ur life (i don’t need personally identifying details, I’m just trying to weed out trolls) and I will literally cashapp (preferred but I also have paypal/venmo) u $20 for „masks“ I don‘t actually care what u spend it on I trust u to make good decisions. I don‘t even care if you don‘t like my opinions we have to help each other or they will drown all of us.
I have to limit how much I can give out (~$100) because I‘m planning on moving to help my own COVID-sensitive disabled partner soon but I‘m not gonna let anons like you crush a good message because ur too busy quibbling over the „right“ action instead of actually doing anything.
Also if anyone not a part of these groups wants to steal my money to „prove a point“ (other legitimate need is welcome of course though) I’m just gonna remind you that I am not responsible for your desire to be immoral in response to my desire to be kind to the world. Have the day y‘all deserve.

Y’all. I’ve always been vocal about how assault against a healthcare worker isn’t natural and shouldn’t be seen as just a part of the job. But then today I got injured. Assaulted by a patient, purposefully. And in my head I keep saying “well it wasn’t a REAL assault, it was only your hand” and “it could have been worse, don’t draw attention to it”. My husband is pissed that I don’t want to press charges. But in my head, it’s what expected of me. GOING TO WORK AND KNOWING YOU’RE GOING TO GET HURT IS UNNATURAL AND WRONG. I’m trying to fix how I’m thinking about this. And I’m trying to be transparent as possible about how I’m scared to go back tomorrow because that patient went looking for me at the end of my shift and I had to hide. That they gave a strong, young, and violent patient to me when they know I’m pregnant. It’s kind of hard to breath just thinking about it. This is wrong. This isn’t nursing. I didn’t sign up to be beat up.

I work for a company that takes blood, it’s policy that we ask customers how to spell their name, say their DOB, address, and phone number out loud. So this old man comes in and I ask him to spell his name, he says “it should be on the form.”
Again I ask him “do you know how to spell your name?”
“Yes.” (Again refusing to spell his name)
“Do you know your date of birth?”
“Yes.”
“Do you know your address?”
“Yes.”
“Do you know your phone number?”
“Yes.”
I know if I insist on him confirming his details he’ll get mad at me and possibly make a complaint and my managers would probably take his side. So I just write on the request form “patient unable to to spell name or say date of birth or say their address or phone number. CANNOT CONFIRM IDENTITY OF PATIENT.”
Let the laboratory figure out if they want to test the blood.
Then when he goes to sign the form he gets mad that I’ve written “patient unable to spell name.” And tries to cross out “unable” saying he was “able” to and that he told me he was able to, I tell him unable and unwilling are the same.

Can't even mention that a store near me is clearly using abusing the TFW program because they refuse to pay little more than minimum wage in a high cost of living area (also you won't get benefits and you'll only be part-time) because the fascists and right-wingers will jump in to say it's about immigration and white replacement.
No, it's because rich white people want to hoard even more money and found an intentional loophole to both make more money (via paying employees less) and also have more power over employees, employees who may or may not know Canadian employment laws (or safety laws) and even if they do, don't have the ability or support to try to hold the company accountable.
You can absolutely criticize the federal government for keeping the loophole open but it predates Trudeau by decades and it was Harper who both expanded the program and added a way for companies to fast-track TFWs. It was also under Harper that companies started firing Canadians (or not hiring them) and then requesting permission to mass-hire TFWs instead.
But the way the right wing talks, you would think Trudeau started this whole thing and the poor multi-million and multi-billion dollar companies are being taken advantage of. Also that housing prices, lack of new developments, and zoning issues started with Trudeau and are the fault of mass-immigration he has a boner for instead of being an issue for decades and experts warning this would happen if governments didn't act ASAP.
Instead the neolibs and cons kept cutting back and kicking that can down the road, a can that started being kicked by Mulroney and the Conservative Party.
#as a 90s kid i grew up with warnings about healthcare and housing and how we needed mass immigration or a massive baby boom#because of the utter lack of federal support and an aging workforce#the systems were already being strained to their limits and there literally weren't enough millennials to replace retiring workers#*or* bring in enough taxes to fund said systems when the system needed it the most#not even increase funding just keeping the same funding that was already not enough#also the right conveniently ignores (or doesn't know about) the extremely predatory recruitment industry#that targets people overseas while lying and charging large amounts of money to bring tfws to canada#you could even blame chretien for expanding it to include 'low-skilled' workers which is what companies are abusing it for#hell even trudeau sr for creating it in the first place even though it was originally made for high-skilled or niche jobs#but no the blame is always trudeau jr with a ton of racism and brownnosing capitalists#because all these problems sprang up suddenly under him#and in no way did harper start/expand/not end/be complicit in any of this /s#though i guess for some of the fascists it seems that way 'cause they weren't personally affected by it until now#and companies have stopped trying to pretend they aren't grabbing as much money as possible because fuck anyone else#even though it's been like that for decades and capitalism itself encourages companies to skim money off the top#while not having the checks and balances to limit just how much#for that you need governments to regulate things and that doesn't work when you have leaders who are anti-regulation#and who believe in trickle down economics#just... the whole thing is not happening in a bubble and involves multiple people and both the neolibs and cons#because it's been building for decades#but you can't bloody say that because the moment you mention housing/jobs/healthcare and/or tfws#you get inundated by fascists who think you're one of them and hit you with some of the most unhinged shit#or who don't even care about you and just want someone to rant at about how it's the evil left's fault for everything#hell you can't even say you don't like trudeau because same thing: fascists think you're one of them or someone to bring into the cult
