PCB of the Day! Adafruit AMG8833 IR Thermal Camera Breakout - STEMMA QT 🔥📸🔌
Add heat-vision to your project with an Adafruit AMG8833 Grid-EYE Breakout! This sensor from Panasonic is an 8x8 array of IR thermal sensors. When connected to your microcontroller (or raspberry Pi) it will return an array of 64 individual infrared temperature readings over I2C. It's like those fancy thermal cameras, but compact and simple enough for easy integration.

🔍 Top 3 CCTV Camera Features You Didn’t Know You Needed 🔍
When it comes to CCTV cameras, most people think of basic video recording and night vision. But modern surveillance technology has evolved far beyond that! Here are 3 game-changing features you probably didn’t know about but will wonder how you ever lived without:
Two-Way Audio 🎤 Imagine being able to speak directly to someone on your property, even when you’re not there. With two-way audio, you can:
· Warn off intruders in real-time.
· Communicate with delivery drivers or visitors.
· Keep an eye (and ear) on your family or employees.
It’s like having a security guard who’s always on duty!
Auto-Tracking 🎯 Gone are the days of static cameras that only capture a fixed view. Auto-tracking cameras use AI to:
· Detect and follow moving objects (like people or vehicles).
· Ensure nothing slips out of frame, even in large areas.
· Provide seamless coverage without blind spots.
Perfect for monitoring parking lots, warehouses, or large outdoor spaces!
Heat Mapping 🌡️ This one’s a hidden gem for businesses! Heat mapping technology analyzes foot traffic and movement patterns to:
· Identify high-activity areas in your store or office.
· Optimize layouts for better customer flow or employee efficiency.
· Detect unusual behavior, like someone lingering in a restricted zone.
It’s not just security—it’s actionable insights for your business!
Why These Features Matter These advanced features aren’t just “nice-to-haves”—they’re game-changers for both home and business security. They provide:
· Enhanced protection with real-time interaction and monitoring.
· Smarter insights to improve safety and efficiency.
· Peace of mind knowing your property is covered 24/7.
At Digital Surveillance, we specialize in installing cutting-edge CCTV systems with these powerful features (and more!) for clients across Los Angeles and Orange County.

Heat Mapping w/ the Citizen Scientists
A citizen scientist is an ordinary inhabitant of a region that utilizes resources, applicable education, and shares knowledge of current health trends with their community to empower and better their neighborhoods. Prime examples of these citizen scientists are those from Richmond, Virginia who are working to address community heat concerns. These citizen scientists included students from the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University; the Virginia Academy of Science; the City of Richmond’s Sustainability Office; and Groundwork RVA, a Richmond nonprofit organization that engages young people with environmental and social issues in their communities.
Personally, I think preparing and teaching a citizen sciences short course would require a few steps such as firstly, amassing an appropriate amount of citizens willing to give valiant efforts to the cause. Without numbers, a movement cannot be effectively sustained. I would also gather supplementary learning materials to accompany interactive sessions in which the citizens are educated on the matters at hand. To gauge interest and further retain citizens, I would provide incentive to their efforts as well as pair them with well esteemed and established real world scientists to facilitate more understanding and aid towards what the goal at hand is.
Some topics that would need to be covered in order to do urban heat island mapping are technology training (in properly utilizing air measurement devices), data analysis (being able to read maps, decipher statistics, etc...), and possible a policy protocol course. I think the last topic would get citizens informed on all of the little things that go into getting a policy changed as well as getting the creative juices going on how to combat dangerous urban heat.
Planting trees is crucial to the city of New Orleans. Why is this so? We can point to the searing summer temperatures that a humid region such as New Orleans boasts. Those who live without air conditioning, those who work outside, elderly, and with conditions that could be worsened by excessive heat exposure. NOLA Project Tree plants trees near New Orleans homes for citizens that opt in. They want to spread not only an environmentally friendly message, but also emphasize how planting trees can provide vegetative shade and lower temps across the city. Black and impoverished communities especially have less trees and tend to be warmer areas on average because of this. Less than 10% of these areas contain trees. With increased oxygen output from these plants, air quality improves as well. Planting trees can contribute to lower temperatures during the summertime heat and can save lives with the continued efforts of NOLA Project Tree and SOUL.

If you don't frequent my coding streams I feel like you maybe won't appreciate the last 3 hours of my life. So here's a hopefully-comprehensible explanation:
Started a new project, adding a manager AI to Minecraft villages so they can grow and expand as needed without player intervention. Call the project Hrrmowners because it's a perfect name with no issues.
Step one, naturally, is to make the infrastructure for actually understanding the layout of a village, so I make a quick system that tells me all the bounding boxes of the structures used to build villages during world generation.
Then realise that I'm actually highlighting every single structure in the game. So I need to filter things down a bit.
It takes me about an hour to find any shred of information in the disparate and convoluted world generation infrastructure of the game to have even the first clue what spawned building is part of a village. Not anything else, just if its intended to be part of one. This still catches pillager outposts, and ancient cities for some godforsaken reason.
Figure that there must be a gameplay element or two that specifically are handled by villager objects. Maybe it doesn't have all the information I need, but it might have something useful for this early stage of development.
Iron Golems spawn in villages, but it's actually the villager AI that does it, and it doesn't care about an actual village.
Cats only spawn in villages (and witch huts), and they have a spawner object in the world data. Could this be the clue I need? No, because it doesn't actually reference any kind of village data object, it just checks for occupied beds nearby via the points of interest storage of the world.
"Points of interest" are a system of noteworthy positions in the world added in 1.14, aka the Village & Pillage update, and basically let villagers reserve a bed to sleep in and a workstation to treat as its job. Every point of interest is a tile entity that gets loaded in a separate list when the chunk is restored from memory, so the world never needs to know anything about its own terrain to know where those points actually are. It just adds them in whenever the chunk spawns.
Notably removed in 1.14 is the villages.dat file in every world save. It contained the locations of every building in the village. That was fed into a Village object in world memory to monitor stuff like iron golems spawning.
It doesn't exist anymore. "Villages" as a concept, only actually exist in the world generation step, and then nothing knows or defines what they are.
TLDR: As of Minecraft 1.14, in the Village & Pillage update, the mobs named villagers actually have absolutely no clue what a village actually is.

Note
its unfortunatelly expected places in africa amd asia are a little bit sparser or that nearly the whole asian half of russia is blank but the emptyness on canada is quite shocking. like fr? fascinating. Do you think why it could be so?
I imagine there are a couple of factors at play here!
On average the world has 0.25 Mikus per million people; Canada's 1.48 is pretty high up there! It's even more well-represented by the US, comparatively.
The map very intentionally has no borders! So countries kinda smooth into each other. The next Canadian Miku in the queue is in the Pacific Northwest, for example, so she'll kinda squish up against a lot of people. There are plenty of Southern Canadian Mikus, you just might not notice!
The north of Canada has a super low population density! Despite making 48% of its land, it has only 0.5% of its population. For country Mikus without any particular region or city I try to respect population distribution, which is why that region is empty!
Thanks for the question! I've been trying to make sure regions without a Miku get one with top priority, so certainly if I see a First Nations or Inuk Miku I'll reblog her straight away! :)

Swiftie arguments about what color represents what album will forever be my favorite bc where else can you say things like "both the Lover House and Taylor's nails for the Eras tour confirm that debut is green" and have people respond with "okay so? Shes wrong"
