A surprise find from a 2020 Bandai Namco promotional desktop calendar. If I had a nickel for every time I've seen Mitsurugi playing some sport, well, I'd have two nickels. (I kid you not, he was a guest character in Pro Baseball Famista 2011. And so was Siegfried, incidentally. The things you find on fan wikis...)

here is everything we know about seidou nagumo from the old timeline
Tumblr media
seidou nagumo was originally meant to replace mitsurugi in soulcalibur ii, but was scrapped. here is art of what he was supposed to look like
however, he was still kept in the canon storyline for soulcalibur even though we never saw him make an appearance
Tumblr media
here we see him listed in one of the relationship flowcharts found in the canon "new legends of project soul" artbook. here are the things that we know about him based on this small tidbit of information:
he is from the satsuma domain. according to this artbook chart and to a quick wikipedia search:
Tumblr media
with this we start to get an idea of what his possible relationships are with the main roster. the ryukyu kingdom was where maxi came from. and we see that yagaji, who is canonically the man who made maxi his nunchaku and a good friend of maxi, was also the personal weaponsmith for the ryukyu king.
we know that seidou himself was a direct agent sent to infiltrate the ryukyu kingdom
we know that he was trained in the jigen style sword technique. a quick wikipedia search tells us that this art style is actually native to the satsuma region. and his master was actually the founder of that style
Tumblr media
bonus: his master and mitsurugi have fought before
its not a lot but its definitely more than you would expect a scrapped replacement character to have. i personally really hope he makes a comeback in this new timeline. i think he has great potential to have fun and interesting rivalries with maxi and with mitsurugi. his design would be such a waste if they did nothing with him, i would love for them to reconsider his place on the roster

Natalie: *enters*
Grøh: The only reason you should be interrupting me is if you have news about the Conduit.
Natalie: Well, there is news, sir, but you might not like it. Don't get too upset.
Grøh: I was taught that keeping a level head is a sign of a great leader. Now, whatever you have to say, I'm sure I can take it.
Natalie: Okay, then. We have no idea where they are.
Grøh: WHAT?!
Natalie: You should really open a window in here.
Grøh: Give me that map!
Natalie: Oh, there have been multiple sightings of the Conduit, but they are impossible to track down.
Grøh: How are we going to find them? They're clearly a master of evasive maneuvering.
[Meanwhile...]
Mitsurugi: You have no idea where you're going, do you?
Conduit: Well, I know it's near water.
Mitsurugi: *looks at the ocean*
Mitsurugi: I guess we're getting close, then.

Soul Calibur Cast Birthdays/Adoption Days and their Astrology Signs (including their Element, Modality, Decans, their celestial rulers and their sub-rulers)
I do Astrology and divination as a side hobby (not on this blog) along with art and writing, and I got curious and decided to apply what I know to the major Soul cast in particular because the Soul games are my favourite, are also my special interest at the moment (and what this side-blog is about) and cos my autistic ass tends to mix two special interests together into...this.
Notes and disclaimers before we begin:
- Usually with people, I would ask for their birth time and birth location to take a look at their Natal Chart, Synastry, Sun, Moon, Rising, etc. But since these are fictional characters (aka not real) and not a lot of people who make characters and their stories tend to do that (which is expected), I'll use the Sun signs' Decans as they give just as much insight on a person or a character's behaviour as a full Natal Chart without needing to rely on a birth time, although it does not absolutely explain everything. And some of these characters have their birth town anonymous for their own reasons anyway.
- Each sign has a celestial ruler. For example, Aries is ruled by Mars. Also to note, since the Soul games take place between the latter end of the 16th Century (SoulEdge/SoulBlade to SoulCalibur 4 and 6) to the beginning of the 17th Century (SoulCalibur 5), some celestial bodies (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) wouldn't have been discovered at the time, but I will use them anyway along with the sign's traditional celestial ruler (ex: Scorpio is ruled by both Pluto and Mars).
- The Elements of Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) and Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) represent a sign's core energy and the tools we tend to use in our lifetime. Fire is dynamic, active, and playful, but is also aggressive, impatient, and impulsive. Earth is physical, tangible, and practical, but is also cold, critical, and harsh. Air is mental, cerebral, and communicative, but is also unpredictable, emotionally-detached, and fickle. And Water is emotional, intuitive, and deep, but is also insecure, controlling, and has a hard time setting or respecting boundaries.
- The Modalities of Cardinal (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), Fixed (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) and Mutable (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) represent how we express that core energy, how we react to unexpected changes, and how we navigate through challenges. Cardinal Signs are the spark that set things aflame, tend to tolerate new changes, create ideas seemingly out of thin air and sometimes are seen as the leaders of their respective Elements. Fixed Signs are hard-working and carry out their plans with fixed focus like being handed a torch to keep lit, but are very stubborn, often dislike changes to their routine, and will go through challenges with brute force if they have to. Mutable Signs give finishing touches to what was started by the Cardinal and built up by the Fixed Signs, have the adaptability of a chameleon (for better or worse) and are often seen as the wisest of the modalities (tho, what they use that wisdom for can lead to either prosperous or disastrous results).
- Decans represent three versions of the same sign (ex: there is no one way to be an Aries, there are three, the first Decan ruled by Mars and has core Aries traits, the second is co-ruled by the Sun and has Leo traits, and the last is ruled by Jupiter and has Sagittarius traits) that are separated 10 degrees or 10 days away from each other. The Babylonians and Ancient Egyptians found this out thousands of years ago.
- This is more of a first glance list and not deep dives of each character, and I cannot guarantee that these signs, their elements, modalities and their Decans will 100% resonate with the characters, their behaviours, the stories that play out with them and how we, as the player/artist/writer/etc, interpret them as some traits listed above tend to go into stereotype territory, but your interpretations, headcanons and opinions are open and welcome nonetheless.
- If I missed anyone or I got a sign wrong (some characters are born on a cusp and usually this is where I would have to ask for a birth time and birth location if these characters were real life people and it would obviously be weird of me to ask a couple of pixels on a screen for their birth time or birth location) or just made a mistake in general, please let me know and I'll get right on it with an update.
- The exceptions I'll make for this list are guest characters despite whether or not if they played a part in the games' story (Geralt as a prime example for SoulCalibur 6), for obvious reasons.
There's some interesting stuff about Astrology online, including everything I've listed. But if we managed to get all those notes and disclaimers out of the way despite this post looking a little messy to understand, let's begin!
- Mitsurugi - June 8th - Gemini (Mercury, Air, Mutable) - Libra/Venus Decan
- Li Long - October 23rd - Scorpio (Pluto/Mars, Water, Fixed) - Scorpio/Pluto and Mars Decan
- Seong Mi-Na - November 3rd - Scorpio (Pluto/Mars, Water, Fixed) - Pisces/Neptune and Jupiter Decan
- Taki - Originally N/A, but September 28th is the date the official SoulCalibur Twitter announced her "Unknown Birthday", probs cos she's one of their most popular characters (I don't blame them tho, I main her) - Libra (Venus, Air, Cardinal) - Libra/Venus Decan
- Maxi - May 1st - Taurus (Venus, Earth, Fixed) - Virgo/Mercury Decan
- Voldo - August 25th - Virgo (Mercury, Earth, Mutable) - Virgo/Mercury Decan
- Sophitia - March 12th - Pisces (Neptune/Jupiter, Water, Mutable) - Scorpio/Pluto and Mars Decan
- Siegfried - February 6th - Aquarius (Uranus/Saturn, Air, Fixed) - Gemini/Mercury Decan
- Ivy - December 10th - Sagittarius (Jupiter, Fire, Mutable) - Aries/Mars Decan
- Kilik - February 9th - Aquarius (Uranus/Saturn, Air, Fixed) - Libra/Venus Decan
- Xianghua - April 2nd - Aries (Mars, Fire, Cardinal) - Leo/Sun Decan
- Yoshimitsu I - N/A
- Nightmare - N/A (unless you want to refer to Siegfried)
- Astaroth - September 3rd - Virgo (Mercury, Earth, Mutable) - Virgo/Mercury Decan
- Inferno - N/A (he's literally Soul Edge, which has been around for Gods know how long)
- Cervantes - January 1st - Capricorn (Saturn, Earth, Cardinal) - Taurus/Venus Decan
- Raphael - November 27th - Sagittarius (Jupiter, Fire, Mutable) - Sagittarius/Jupiter Decan
- Talim - June 15th - Gemini (Mercury, Air, Mutable) - Aquarius/Uranus or Saturn Decan
- Tira - N/A (is left a mystery both in the Old and New Timelines)
- Zasalamel - May 5th (Current Reincarnation) - Taurus (Venus, Earth, Fixed) - Virgo/Mercury Decan
- Grøh - November 18th - Scorpio (Pluto/Mars, Water, Fixed) - Cancer/Moon Decan

- Hwang - August 8th - Leo (Sun, Fire, Fixed) - Sagittarius/Jupiter Decan
- Yun-seong - April 16th - Aries (Mars, Fire, Cardinal) - Sagittarius/Jupiter Decan
- Aeon Calcos/Lizardman - June 23rd - Cancer (Moon, Water, Cardinal) - Cancer/Moon Decan
- Rock - December 14th - Sagittarius (Jupiter, Fire, Mutable) - Leo/Sun Decan
- Edge Master - January 1st - Capricorn (Saturn, Earth, Cardinal) - Taurus/Venus Decan
- Algol - N/A (the guy is ancient and his birthday was probably lost to time).
- Patroklos - September 13th - Virgo (Mercury, Earth, Mutable) - Taurus/Venus Decan
- Pyrrha - October 24th - Scorpio (Pluto/Mars, Water, Fixed) - Scorpio/Pluto or Mars Decan
- Z.W.E.I - N/A
- Viola - Day of Prayer to Vesta (??? probably a riddle I'll not dedicate this post trying to look into but will kinda give it a shot anyway. There are many festivals to pray to Vesta/Hestia, the Goddess of the Hearth and Virginity, that are held at different times of the year, which specific one her bio is talking about is as shrouded in mystery as she is. And whether we believe she and Amy are the same person or not, Amy's true birthday is also shrouded in mystery)
- Natsu - August 3rd - Leo (Sun, Fire, Fixed) - Sagittarius/Jupiter Decan
- Leixia - July 7th - Cancer (Moon, Water, Cardinal) - Scorpio/Pluto or Mars Decan
- Xiba - April 20th - Taurus (Venus, Earth, Fixed) - Taurus/Venus Decan
- Yoshimitsu II - N/A
- Dampierre - N/A (I dunno guys, he keeps changing his birthday and where he's from, so that's a mystery)

A small story I made with screenshots from SC6 (technically this is meant as a part of one of my old fanfic so Raphael is already a vampire, it's made with SC6 but it is later)

In December 1999, a pair of Dreamcast VMU mini-games were released as free downloads after Soulcalibur reached one million sales. These were exclusive to Japan. I got these images from the fansite Kitai25, which has been my go-to for older SC-related material, which gives a basic summary of them in French (for which I use DeepL). Trying to track down the things led me to The Dreamcast Junkyard, which seems to have found the relevant files; I defer to them for technical details. Supposedly, completing the Mini-game 3 Pack unlocked an extra costume for Voldo.
At left: "Text Adventure: Xianghua's Story". This was a sort of mini visual novel.
At right: Mini-game 3 Pack. From left to right: "Cannon Dare", "Voldo Panic", and "Word Scramble".

Critically acclaimed SoulCalibur II features a diverse roster of characters from various backgrounds and fighting styles, engaging players in intense one-on-one battles. The game is renowned for its fluid combat mechanics, stunning visuals, and a compelling storyline centered around the mystical weapon, Soul Edge. What if...The Cross Zone got a lot bigger?
From the creative minds that bought you Namco X Capcom, Project X Zone was released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012 in Japan and worldwide in 2013, receiving great praise as it bought characters from three legendary game developers -- Capcom, Sega, and Namco Bandai -- to crossed worlds, dimensions, and the fabric of time for the ultimate cross-over tactical RPG mashup!
But what if the cross zone had gotten a whole lot bigger with even MORE titles and are joined by even more characters from surprising guest companies.
What if...The Cross Zone got a lot bigger? explores what would happen if the events of Namco X Capcom, Project X Zone, and Project X Zone 2 occurred differently with the inclusion of characters, worlds, and universes of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Square Enix, and much more.
