my final artfight attack!! for @ardienothesieno

i’m INCREDIBLY PROUD of everything i’ve done for artfight this year! i made 34 attacks total, with a final point count of 4054 (i attacked prismsoup last minute to get over the 4k mark). i have now made over 100 attacks in the SEVEN YEARS i have done artfight! this year, i made 3 animations, 3 3D models, and experimented with a variety of styles and colors and it all went so well!!!!!! thanks to everyone who participated, and i’m hoping to continue the animation streak with some of my own projects in the future.

That laughter. He hears it echo off the walls before she reveals herself, manufactured concern that causes Miguel to bear his fangs at the Quincy's approach. This can't be happening. Again. And yet, it is. She who had cursed him with an insatiable hunger, only to disappear for a while. Had that been her intention all along? Leave him to struggle, before inserting herself back into the picture, offer the relief from the gnawing need that had dominated his every waking moment so terribly, once his will to resist had been reduced to almost nothing?

With a million possibilities running laps around his head, a snarl of discomfort rumbles in his throat as she draws closer, more teeth than words as he contemplated -- for a split second -- if killing her would break this curse. "You're still alive?" In somewhat of a twist, thoughts shift from murder to relief, a feeling that burns like acid as he parts his lips to speak. The question of why she had disappeared bubbles to the front of his mind, only to be held back by a tongue that stills in her presence, as if by reflex.

Unsettled by this, garnet hues flicker beneath rapidly blinking lids as a familiar, rotten feeling rises in the pit of his stomach.

For a single minute, he attempts to suppress this aching urge. All until a sharp pain caused him to winch and double over, fanged jaw unhinging to blurt out his terrible craving to Giselle, just as the dim colour of his gaze increased in saturation, becoming a much brighter shade of red.

"Hungry... S-so hungry... please!"

i swear every time i read alga and geta fighting in every chapter all i hear is like a distant vine boom sound every after argument because they sound like petty children bickering.. they butt heads sooo much when they should just kiss and have a sword fight 🤦

speaking of the argument.. i was GAGGED w what alga said like WHYYYY would u SAY THATTTTT i was thrashing on my bed gripping my neck why would ALGA SAY THATTTT geta better than me i wouldve drank poison in front of alga to prove a point

on a lighter note, i really do enjoy the little interactions with aelius and justina.. 😭😭 theyre so funny like theyre rlly just dragged in every episode of Keeping up with the Gingers ft. Alga its hilarious 😭 ik justina calling them slurs when she leaves the room (/j)

another silly thing is geta stalking us like he isnt ed sheeran dressed in big bright robes.. silly silly man.. he thinks hes invincible when he sticks out like a sore thumb

okay back to the torturous stuff uve written (which im unfortunately obsessed with) geta is so miserable oh my god what have you done to him hes like on his knees, sobbing and throwing up and having a panic attack 😭😭 its so nicely written though.. the subtle tone changes when certain names/petnames are used ohhh im locked tf in im eating this all up and mind u u only posted like not even an hour in 😭

end of the chapter is bittersweet AND im soo curious to know if caracalla ever just stayed outside the door during the whole ordeal, and if he heard geta say all those things.. ik he mad as helll😭😭

OH MY GODDDD THIS ASKKKKKKKK DUDE TALK MY EAR OFF TO YOUR HEARTS CONTENT!!!! IN FACT, I IMPLORE YOU TO. i love love love hearing peoples thoughts, especially when it comes to a chapter i was soooo deeply fucking evil and malicious with. i write on my phone like an insane person, so i was literally pacing up and down my bedroom, listening to my dnbts playlist, going yessss. YESSSSSSS. i actually got the idea for the “is that what your father said…” scene at work a few days ago and i very nearly fell to my knees. as much fun as writing these scenes were because GOD it was ao much fun, by fucking jove was it hard.

im already planning chapter 14! i have about… three scenes planned for that one, and i may or may not add another depending on if the mood so strikes. i havent written it yet, but just my plans it may still be angsty because its just like. conversation with geta regarding What Just Happened, and then a conversation with caracalla about What Just Happened, and then the p in v full frontal caracalga sex. my planning is always very loose, and i write dialogue based on what flows best in real time, so i have no clue how these conversations will go. i know how i WANT it to go (happy ending) but there will probably be some hangups in there.

dude. alga saying that was so evil to me. because it was sooooo not the time, but theyre so fucking stubborn and petty sometimes. especially when it comes to geta. he just activates their hater neurons. i need to mash them together like barbies. do i think alga is right? yeah a little. do i think that they should have dropped that conversational nuke when geta is already in a foul mood? NAAAAHHHH. save that for when hes drunk and pliant.

im sooooo glad you noticed the subtle nickname changes ESPECIALLY with geta. i very meticulously picked geta and caracalla’s pet names for alga, like caracalla’s all have something to do with sweets/food. where geta, tends to lean more deeply romantic. like meus vitus and carissimus. i also think hed use meus columbus but its not as cute as the feminine version (mea columba) so alas, i dont think ill use it in dnbts text. but the way geta uses alga is so important to me.

and as for caracalla’s thoughts on the matter. he didnt stay and listen, BUT he did come back to aee geta and alga cuddling. geta was still awake at the time and he just kind of mildewed while caracalla stayed up all night, spooning alga and glaring at him over their sleeping body. at this point, caracalla has come to the conclusion that if he doesnt share alga geta may do something drastic and overly dramatic. which hed rather not have happen. first of all, he wouldnt know what to do with himself if geta died, how is he gonna get away with doing jack shit if getas not around to push his duties onto? secondly, as much as he beefs with geta, that IS his twin brother. again, he really would rather not lose him so FINE WHATEVER. he SUPPOSES 😐 he can share his alga. they already share fucking everything 😐 whats a lover on top of that 😐

Hello Cheston! I got a bug for you!

The red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta)! They are an invasive species introduced into Alabama in 1930! Although they are native in South America, around the Pantanal region. A fun fact about these ants, when there is a flood they will huddle together to make an entire water raft by joining their tiny bodies together forming a water proof structure!

'Crazy Form' MV First Reactions Part 2

Part 2! Analysis below the line.

You remember Jongho shooting everywhere in the last part?

Well, here is a funny Mingi picture from that scene. I can't tell if he's surrendering or going 'dude we were supposed to be undercover what are you doing?'

HELLL YESSSS. THIS is what I mean by this MV being connected to Bouncy - the screen is literally the Guardian Hongjoong killed in Bouncy, and Jongho 'kills' it through destroying the TV - they're on a literally Guardian-killing rampage.

Now, past media knowledge would tell us that this is a bomb of some kind. Especially since it starts glowing blue.

And since our tech dude Wooyoung looks so satisfied. Also, we know that Hongjoong is self-destructive enough to just let himself get blown up.

And although this shot tells us that it is a bomb of some kind, the next bit shows that it's not the type of bomb we would expect.

It's a tech-bomb thing... bringing the pirate ship to the city - the pirates are taking over, whether you like it or not!

This is where I relate this MV to Don't Stop - because in that MV, we saw 1) Mingi with a car that gets destroyed, 2) members gambling to get something important 3) Seonghwa leading in Hongjoong's absence, 4) the pirate ship, 5) Hongjoong blowing things up and then reuniting with the members. This MV is basically the same things - but progressed. Mingi destroys the car himself and is unscathed, new members are gambling, Seonghwa is also crazy now (possibly influenced by Joong), the ship is now upright and working, not destroyed, and Hongjoong blows things up, but this time he doesn't hurt himself doing so, and instead creates a symbol of hope by working with the other members.

It's very nice.

Also, full moon.

This is so goofy but I love it.

And that's the end for the main MV - but it's ATEEZ - we've got to see the rest.

Broken Cromer - red - we'll see why later.

If I can tell you one thing, it's that the Cromer being broken isn't good. The last time we saw the broken Cromer was in FEVER Part 3 era - is this supposed to be the same broken Cromer or an alternate-universe one, since THE WORLD and FEVER are quite likely different universes.

We then have this shot - with the blood moon, the source of the red light. And also usually used as a sign that blood has been shed or will soon be shed. Since there was a lack of death in this MV, and ATEEZ always seem to finish their album series with an Epilogue, I imagine there will be blood spilled in the next album's MV, when they actually, fully, take over the government and fight the Guardians. Or die trying.

There's also a bluebird here - I've circled it in red since it's hard to see. Not only is this an ATEEZ song, but it's also a symbol of freedom and their struggle. I also associate it with Yeosang, since he had lines mentioning it in HALAZIA. Am I supposed to associate it with Yeosang? Goodness knows.

It also carries some flashing light thing... I'm unsure what's going on there. Possibly the Cromer or part of it? A new hope for the Cromer?

And that's it! A nice MV that carried on the stories from a myriad of MVs - Deja Vu, Don't Stop, Guerrilla, HALAZIA, and Bouncy. Wonderful. I do like a connected story.

So let's talk...

Lyrics

Well, first, I needed to look at the 'ninety-two-four' thing. I wasn't immediately sure what this meant. I hear '24' and think of ATEEZ's debut date, but that would be ten-two-four, not ninety. So I looked up the number and got some Japanese company that owns a lot of stuff. I mean, it's possible they were referencing that company, since they are a conglomerate, and that's something they are fighting against in the storyline, but I also had my doubts. Looking up the meaning of the specific number leads to Angel Numbers, and the meaning of the angle number 9024 discusses enthusiasm and taking action, working towards one's goals, despite challenges. It also signals how someone can do great things in their life.

Sound familiar? Yet again, ATEEZ are making random obscure references that have real meaning and relevance to their MVs - here they are taking action, and doing so enthusiastically, smiling in the face of challenges.

Or it could mean something else. If so, please enlighten me. But this is the best I can come up with - and, since it fits, it reinforces my ideas.

Then we have some classic ATEEZ things - putting their whole soul on the stage, being confident in themselves, and dancing their hearts out. Also - mentions of the moon. Ahem, Cromer, ahem.

Mingi does his typical shantyman stuff - singing about going full speed ahead. He also talks about stocks - something that some people (like me) could associate with drug dealing and corruption. And he contrasts the red light (the shocking taking over of the stock market) with his green flags - a sign to go straight ahead, and which also could (possibly... it's a stretch) be considered to have the dual meaning of ATEEZ being a green flag - they are fighting for freedom.

We get some more 'join us or don't we don't mind', classic fire imagery, and more dance and music. And asking their followers to sing along.

Also - 'raise your glass'. Ahem, Answer.

And changing the game - another common theme for ATEEZ.

So overall, as expected, it's a pretty typical ATEEZ song, lyric-wise. I feel like a lot of their songs, lyrically, are very similar - they're all reinforcing the fighting for freedom, dance, etc. It's the MVs, albums, and other visual media, as well as the bsides, which have been doing most of the storytelling recently. This isn't an issue, and in fact, it has been happening for a long time, but it is interesting. Perhaps it makes them more marketable to the general public? Because I can 100% say that 'being cool' is more appealing to the general audience member than 'I'm a pirate lord taking over the government and using anarchy as a face to do that, also I'm drug dealing chilli peppers and shooting weird fencing robots.' Yep.

Conclusions

Some of my favourite MVs are the ones which have tons of references or connections with others - things like Bouncy, Say My Name, Answer, Illusion, and more. I like the MVs that show that the Directors and creatives behind it have both an understanding of media in general, and have carefully considered every element of the MV. As a director myself, I can appreciate that. This MV has many a reference, and nicely ties together many other MVs, from the start of this era - starting with Don't Stop, which gave us a soft introduction to this world. Nice job yet again, ATEEZ creative team.
