Hello! I love your simblr and your stardew valley project. I have an idea for building up a town but I can't seem to find any empty large worlds. Do you have any reccomendations? Thanks!

Empty Worlds for Builders / Custom Save File Creation!

Hey lovely! Thank you so much 🥰🥰 I actually do have a few suggestions of some worlds that I've tried out & really adored

My best advice for building up your own world is to figure out the vibe of the town you want to build & plan out a few key characters / families and then go with one that best suits it - I tried building my SDV world about 5 times before I settled on my final save lol so don't be afraid to scrap it and start over if it's not feeling right, you can always save the lots / families to your library and plop them somewhere else!

Brightwater Bay by SimsOnTheRope

This one was so nearly the one I used as my basis for Stardew Valley because of the big river running down the middle, but I wound up thinking it was too big to work for my purposes, regardless it's a really beautiful world with a lot of nice set dressing and is worth looking at if you're wanting something similar!

Halley by NovaPark

The colour palette for this world is gorgeous! It's so lush and full of greenery and I also really like the road design - if I was gonna build a town in this world I'd probably use the big spring / waterfall in the middle as a big lore plot point (eg: maybe it has magical or special scientific use & its use employs a lot of the townsfolk?) so many opportunities for storytelling here!

Covington by Jackob

This one is a bit on the smaller side, but you have lots of room to place more lots if you do need more space - the scenery is lovely as well - there's a clear area for the town centre & city hall which is something I always like in empty world because it gives you some guidelines to go off of rather than starting totally from scratch planning-wise

Deery Meadows by MySimRealty

This one is a super nice standard residential world, it would be great for a costal / fishing town vibe because there is a lot of big lakes and abandoned boats scattered around, I also really like the road style in this world (something I'm pretty sure no one cares about other than me LOL they're just very aesthetically pleasing & look super clean)

Igginima by Cink's Sims

This one is one of my favourites for scenery but I haven't found quite the right use for it for my personal saves yet - it reminds me of a remote scottish island, and you get the impression there's a lot of lore here you can play with, there are a few pre-built community lots but they're mostly just for decoration and you can just delete them if you'd rather start from total scratch!

Southbridge by Sims3Time

This one has a really nice desert vibe if you're looking for something less green! (the other ones on this list are all quite similar so I wanted to give another more unique option)

Oakshore by Pleyita

This one is small as well but it has quite a few lots packed into the space which is why I thought I'd give it a mention! Would be great for a small-town suburban kinda vibe if that's what you're going for, it kinda reminds me of Sunset Valley

Storybrook County Lite by MySimRealty

This world is massive if that's what you're looking for! It's got an area for farmland and adjoins to a more industrial city part as well, a really great all-rounder if you're looking for a big project, I also love that it's got so much attention to detail with the different road types in the more rural areas and barns / hay bales scattered around the farming bits

Vintage Champs Les Sims by Franglish et Chocolat

This is the world I used for my SDV project so I'm sure you've checked it out already, but I have to give it a mention because the scenery & set dressing is some of the best I've ever seen, it's stunning, and I'm constantly discovering new details & little things for my sims to explore even after working in it for months

Shout out to this repository which is a fantastic resource for cataloguing old worlds, the blog isn't active anymore but there's a lot of worlds reblogged on there and it's well-organised into different categories, also mysimreality has quite a few empty worlds & this creator on MTS has emptied a few of the EA worlds if that takes your fancy!

I'd also thoroughly recommend checking out Mercury101's world scenery pictures, their blog is always a go-to for me when I'm looking for new world options as they have loads documented on there :)

About the Kinktober, I probably won't be doing a theme per day because I feel like that might be tiring. Also, we just did that for A.U.gust and I saw another Gallavich blog posting something like that for September, so I figured we give people a bit more freedom this time around. I'm thinking of either just a list of prompts that you can post whenever, or a bingo, or one ample/general theme per week... But I'm open to suggestions.

About the Masquerade: Yes, I know most people voted to have it along the Kinktober, but there was also a quite significant amount of people who said they'd rather have it after it. I figured the people who voted to have it alongside Kinktober would still participate it if I had it later, but the opposite was likely not true, so I figured this was better. Also, I will be requesting sign-ups, but they're just so I can organize everything, so the deadline will be quite close to the posting day. Posting will likely be on an AO3 anonymous collection (I'll have to test that first), and the guesses will be made through a Google Form. One more thing: I think it would be nice to have fanart/videos/gifsets as the prizes (preferably about the Masquerade fics themselves), both for the person (or people) who manage to guess the most authors correctly and for the author who manages to "deceive" more people (still deciding on that, but anyway...), so if you make any of this and would like to volunteer, let me know.

About the gift exchange: it was postponed for next year for three reasons: 1) there was no set event in February, so I figured this would be cute and fit the theme of Valentine's Day - instead of secret Santas, you'll have secret admirers ;) ; 2) it gives people more time to participate, since most other fandoms have their gift exchange events at the end of the year; 3) it leaves the Masquerade at the end of the year, which is an event with lower stakes (no one is expecting people to produce anything, so it's easier to cancel their participation if something happens). I reserved actual Valentine's Day for it, but I believe it'll actually happen throughout the week. The format will be the same as in the last couple of years, with participants picking the prompts they'd like to fulfill.

I assumed we'll be doing A.U.gust again next year, but that's not set in stone. Spring Cleaning is also a possible event, but we'll see. Gallavich Week will be happening, as always.

Good morning, Meiven! For this reading, I am using the Seed & Sickle Oracle by Fez Inkwright, one of my favorite decks of all time. (I say, as though most of my decks aren't my favorites.) In this deck, Dawn represents outward energy - movement, new beginnings, and change - while Dusk represents inward energy - stillness, self-reflection, and stability. Since I'm practicing with reading multiple cards at once, I've decided to draw one from each side. Your Dawn card is Jasmine, and your Dusk card is Moonwort.

Jasmine is in the Spring portion of the deck, while Moonwort is in the Winter portion.

Jasmine says that you've taken some good initial steps on your journey, but you're starting to flounder. Are you worried that you should have gone in a different direction? Are other people saying that you're doing things in the "wrong" way? Is this the path you want to be on? Jasmine grows exactly where it means to. What is it that you want to achieve in your craft? What does your favorite version of yourself look like? What holds the most appeal to you, rather than just going down a list and ticking off "the basics" and "pre-determined skills"?

Moonwort is, among other things, associated with undoing and breaking any lock. Our minds are good at hiding away old grief, unwanted feelings, and stressful memories, but this is more rough for us in the long-term. Unlock those hidden spaces, clear out the cobwebs, and see where that leaves you.

I imagine that you may be following some nebulous "my best self" idea, because that's a very common approach to magic and spirituality. But instead of your "best" self (which is nebulous and subject to the whims of the universe, if you believe in the universe as an active force), how about becoming your favorite self? There's no rule out there set in stone that you have to suffer in your spirituality (unless you're Protestant I guess) and you don't have to conform to someone else's expectation of who you should be or what you should do. I release you from wasting your time with things that aren't interesting to you. Be free!

Help me pick my garden!

Hello Tumblr, it is almost spring, and that means it's ✨landscaping time!✨

I bought a house last May, moved in in June, and took one look at the back yard before declaring it a "next year problem." Alas, the next year is upon us.

What should I plant?

Here are the rules:

Nothing that cannot tolerate heat; temps here get over 100 pretty regularly in the summer.

Nothing that cannot tolerate sun. We have, just... so much sun... and even with the house providing a bit of shade, it's going to be too bright for most shade-loving plants.

Nothing that is fatal to cats! Our cats are indoor-only, but there are a couple of Orange Kitties that roam the neighborhood whom I wouldn't want to do any harm. (Cleo haaaates them. She gets all poofy-tail when they come by; it's adorable.)

And for guidelines...

Historically I pretty much only garden things you can eat, but since there's so much room and it's all mine now, I'm open to changing that!

Perennials are favored over annuals, but suggestions for both are welcome.

Shrubs are also acceptable, since I have a front yard that's going to require some landscaping, too. It looks like it's too hot here for raspberries, but maybe I'll find an equivalent?

I have asparagus, tomatoes, and hot peppers on the list already. What else should I plant?

We’d like to pair up writers with artists so they can create a joint masterpiece (fanart and fic). The artists can be as hands-on or as hands-off as they’d like in the process. They can say anything from “Write whatever you want!” to specifying rating guidelines, setting, etc. The only thing we ask is that the fics are Jancy centric.

We would like fics completed by March 20th as that’s the first day of Spring (new beginnings) and s5 will be bringing us new Jancy! So that gives writers a little over a month to write their fics… fics can be any length but we ask that they are at least a Drabble (100 words).

Artists, as I said above, you can be as involved as you want… it’s up to you! We just ask permission to repost your art (with credit) for this event only. You can obviously also choose not to participate, ofc.

1. I first got into fanart through the Sonic The Hedgehog series, I'd look up renders and try to draw them on paper. What drew me to the fandom was seeing other peoples drawings/interpretations of the characters I liked.

2. The fandoms I’ve made fanart for are: Sonic The Hedgehog, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Undertale, Steven Universe, South Park, Attack On Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, Haikyuu!!, Seraph Of The End, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Yuri!!! On Ice, My Hero Academia, Hamilton, Heathers, Ben 10, The Dragon Prince, Miraculous Ladybug, The Legend Of Zelda, Ace Attorney, Stranger Things (there's probably more but these are the ones I can remember) I don’t do fanart for a lot of these fandoms anymore but sometimes I’ll do redraws of the old fanart for the sake of comparing my progress.

3. I’m not going to do ALL the fandoms but some of my favourite characters to draw overall are Chat Noir (Miraculous), Keith Kogane and Princess Allura (Voltron), Link (Zelda), Godot and Mia Fey (Ace Attorney), Rayla and Aaravos (The Dragon Prince) Armin Arlert and Mikasa Ackerman (Attack On Titan) and, of course, Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers (Stranger Things)

4. My muse characters are pretty much the ones listed above, I always have to sneak my favourites in lmao

5. If I absolutely *have* to get a character in I always find a way to add them into the background or do a separate doodle with said character

hello miss lianna! happy holidays :) just wanted to pop in here and tell you i deeply adore your writing and it has served as snippets of joy in my otherwise fast-paced high school student life! i especially love your haikus! but i want to ask if haikus in general have a structure to them (like 5-7-5 syllables,) or if it's alright to go beyond them? i started writing them everyday as a challenge but i also want to learn more, if that's alright. i noticed your writing doesn't really follow a strict structure which is why i like them so much

To answer your question: in English, haiku is generally understood as a poetic form characterized by its specific 5-7-5 syllabic structure, yes. But this is not the case in Japanese.

There is a certain expectation of symmetry when it comes to the length of the lines—traditionally, haiku follow an A-B-A format, with the first and third lines having the same number of characters—but this expectation is not necessarily a requirement. Nor is it a requirement that the poem come out to 15 characters exactly (or 15 syllables, for the foreign speaker.)

Take this famous and much-parodied poem of Bashō’s, for example:

古池や 蛙飛び込む 水の音

furuike ya kawazu tobikomu mizu no oto

Three lines, arranged 3-5-3, totaling 11 characters.

This length was perhaps the most common. The A-B-A format was likewise already considered traditional, but deviations were by no means rare, even then.

Another example, also by Bashō:

五月雨の 降のこしてや 光堂

samidare no funokoshite ya Hikari-do

Three lines, arranged 4-6-2, totaling 12 characters.

Really, while the length of a haiku should be brief, as far as the lines are concerned any distribution is possible. A-A-A, A-A-B, A-B-A, A-B-B...contemporary writers depart from three-line arrangements altogether, on occasion.

See, in English ‘poetic form’ tends to imply a certain structural rigidity. Only, while it isn’t wrong to define it as such, it is perhaps more apt to think of haiku as a species of poetry, the way a novel is a species of prose. The shape of the poem is secondary to its contents.

The essence of haiku is a reverence for the natural world and for the mundanities of everyday life. The practice is an attempt at capturing glimpses of this brief, extraordinary beauty which surrounds us.

Traditionally, a haiku will use kigo—words and phrases which are specific to certain seasons of the old Japanese calendar. The thought process behind each writer’s choice of kigo is complex, of course, as they can and do double as symbols, but their first and most practical function is to anchor the poem in time.

Taking Bashō again as an example, the kigo in the haiku I quoted above are ‘frog’ (蛙 kawazu) and ‘May rain’ (五月雨 samidare). Thus we know that the first one is a Spring scene—frogs are an all-spring word—and the second one of Early Summer. Indeed, another way to translate samidare is ‘early summer rain’.

As haiku moved into its modern period and began to expand and transform, the usage of kigo became less of a requirement. They are still considered a major trait of the form, though. And this despite the fact that they aren’t exclusive to haiku, but rather characteristic of the entire spectrum of Japanese poetry.

Personally, I’m rather fond of them. (Huge understatement.) Romania’s seasons are different from Japan’s, so I’ve had a lot of fun over the years, coming up with seasonal words of my own...

...I went on for very long there, didn’t I. ^^;

TL;DR—it’s 100% fine to structure your haiku as you see fit; line breakage is decided by cadence, more than anything. 9~21 syllables is a nice range. :]

(If you decide to submit your haiku somewhere, though, read the guidelines carefully beforehand. Unfortunately many editors only accept poems which follow the 5-7-5 format, as that is, by and large, what a haiku is understood in English as.)

Original request: Hi! I saw your request guidelines and was wondering if you do only Pokémon? If you do, could you do a gardevoir and a gallade for tickletober day 1, secret?

Like Gallade has a surprise for Gardevoir but she somehow gets word abt it and wrecks him to tell her what it is?

Just a thought but it’s okay if you don’t do primarily Pokémon in your fics :3

Author’s note: @leefl00f Hello! (I hope it’s okay to tag you for your request)! It was a different experience writing for only pokemon for the first time! I decided to make them siblings for this fic (and I also wrote it broadly so Gardevoir and Gallade can be read as humans or pokemon!) As said before, I switched around the prompt for this scenario, so hope you all enjoy Day 17 of Tickletober: Interrogation! (From August’s Tickletober 2023 list!)

Summary: Gardevoir uses a giggly strategy of persuasion to get Gallade to tell her a secret that he’s keeping from her.

“Tell me!”

“No.”

“Come on! Tell me!” Gardevoir whines and leans over her older brother’s shoulder to sneak a peek at what he's doing. Gallade places a palm to his sister’s face and shoves her away.

“I said no,” Gallade states as he organizes types of berries into piles of blues, yellows, and reds on the grass. “It’s not much of a secret if I go telling everyone, is it?”

“But I already know part of the secret.” Gardevoir peeks to his side again. “You’re clearly picking more berries for someone other than yourself. So now I just need you to fill me in on the rest.”

“Nice try Gardevoir, but I’m not saying anything.” Gallade goes back to his work, trying to avoid his sister’s observant gaze. Gardevoir huffs at his stubbornness. She struts over to his side and stands over him with her arms on her hips, like she’s about to scold him.

“Alright Gallade, one last time,” Gardevior says like she means business. “Will you, or will you not tell me the secret?”

Gallade looks up at his sister, narrowing his eyes in a way that represents the competitive gaze of sibling rivalry.

“The answer is no.” He returns to organizing without another word.

Gardevoir shifts in her spot. “Well then, it seems an interrogation is in order.”

With that, Gardevoir quickly snatches Gallade’s upper arm and effortlessly drags him backwards, like a jump rope trailing on the ground, from his multiple piles of berries. Gardevoir might want to get her way, but she’s nice enough to do it from a distance from her brother’s hard work so she doesn’t mess it up. Because things are about to get chaotic.

“Hey!” Gallade tries to free his arm from his sister’s hold. Gardevoir releases him and he flops to the grassy floor. Gallade lifts himself up on his arms.

“What was that for?!” he questions. What he doesn’t expect, however, is for his sister to spring at him, knocking him right onto his back, followed up by her hands scratching across his sides.

“W-Wahahait! Hehehey!” Gallade suddenly bursts into laughter, taken by surprise by his sister’s tickly method of persuasion. He squeezes his arms to his sides and kicks his legs in the air.

“Don’t ‘Hey’ me! I tried to warn you,” Gardevoir teases above him. “Now, tell me what the secret is!” She scribbles her fingers against his ribs and belly, easily following his squirmy movements. 

“Thihihis is cheheheating!” Gallade exclaims. He should have seen this coming. Of course his sister knows how ticklish he is, and of course she would use it to her advantage.

“Yes, it is,” Gardevoir admits with a grin. “Now tell me already!” Gardevoir digs her fingers into his torso a little harder, causing a ticklish jolt to surge through Gallade and a yelp to proceed after it. 

Maybe he should just let her in on the secret. It's not that big of a deal. 

No, but it’s supposed to be a surprise. He’s got to keep it concealed.

Gallade snorts. “Nehehehever!” he says with a hint of playful sibling banter.

“Fine then. If that’s how you want to play it,” Gardevoir smirks. She lifts one of her hands in the air and a pink aura swirls around it.

As if by magic, or in this case Gardevoir’s physic abilities, Gallade’s arms are yanked above his head by the same pink aura.

Gallade whips his head upwards to see his trapped arms, then darts his head back to his sister with rounded eyes of terror. He’s done for.

Before he can even utter a single word, Gardevor has already pounced at him, scribbling into his underarms. Gallade screeches with laughter, like metal plates being scratched together. He throws his head from side to side and kicks his legs in the ground. Gardevoir laughs along with her brother. She knew this would get him.

“Ohohohokay! Okahahahay!!!” Gallade calls out. “I’ll tehehehell yohohohu the sehehehecret!!!”

Immediately, Gardevoir lifts her hands and makes the pink aura holding Gallade’s wrists disappear. Gallade shoots his arms down and plops to the grass. His chest heaves up and down as if he’s just fought an intense battle.

Gardevoir leans above him and smiles, “Now spill it.”

Gallade sits himself up with his arms behind him. “I found a bunch of these berries in this part of the forest and started collecting them. I wanted to see how many different kinds I found before I surprised you so that we could share them together. That’s the secret. So, surprise.”

“Aww, Gallade!” Gardevoir’s heart swells with happiness. “You didn’t have to do that. I would have helped you if I knew. I’m sorry that I spoiled the surprise.”

Gallade chuckles. “Don’t worry about it. I wanted to do this. You are my sister after all.”

Gardevior smiles and gives her brother a big, appreciative hug by throwing her hands around his neck. “And I’m lucky to have you as my brother.”

Hello, silverfire113 here! Just wanted to outline some rules, and give a short introduction 8)

This is a RP and ask blog. As such, feel free to ask anything or request a RP etc. etc. I’m always happy to meet new people huhuhu~ I go by Potato or Silver usually, and I’m primarily an artist who hopes to someday make comics. I enjoy a bit of roleplaying here and there as well B)

Please note: This blog will sometimes contain mature content, such as: violence, strong language, and sexual themes.

At the moment, I’m going to classify it as a single muse blog, but with very prominent side characters. You can’t really have Tay without his companions; they’re a package deal

I don’t follow everyone back, due to being easily overwhelmed. I am still happy to interact even if we’re not mutuals, however!

It can take me a really long time to get to replies - often a month or two, and sometimes up to well…years (I try to avoid the latter where possible but it’s happened XD). I don’t tend to lose interest in threads after long periods, but I know its not a time frame that works well for everyone so do keep it in mind if you’re considering interacting!

I don’t do reblog karma, in the sense that while I will reblog from the source etc with blogs that request it, I personally don’t mind at all if people reblog things from me, whether you’ve sent something in for it or not.

I get really nervous about approaching new people (sometimes even old ones XD), so it can take me a while before I feel comfortable starting up conversation or sending things in. Regardless, I do love discussing plots and characters~

There probably won’t be much be much sexual nsfw stuff here, but if there is it will be tagged as nsfw and put under a read more. I’m 25+, but smut’s not really my thing. That being said, it does not bother me to see it on the dash, or to receive questions related to it. Other types of mature content will probably be more common, such as violence and dark themes.

If you would like anything tagged just let me know! I have no triggers myself. I tag things (though not consistently unless asked) as subject cw , example: blood cw

Hello! - tue. 16th of april

Hello stranger on the internet!

I am Sunny and I decided to write about myself. You may ask yourself why someone would consider the idea of starting a blog these days as good. I am fully aware of the fact, that you are right. There is no reasonable explanation why I would start a blog or why you, a stranger to me, should read it. And I gotta be heartbreakingly honest with you again, I dont consider this to be a good idea and I also dont expect people to read or be interested in anything I might have to say. I just followed an intuition, lets say, that made me believe that a anonymous online-diary would solve at least one or two of my problems. Nevertheless, the intuition made me pick up my laptop and open up a new tumblr account to write a litte prologue, something to introduce me, sunny, to you, stranger.

I am 20 years old, almost 21 and it scares me. I have been a passionate dancer for almost 14 years but had to quit because I moved. I´d also consider myself to be a story dragon. I spend a redicolous amount of time on booktok and AO3, I just always loved to submerge myself in books and new tales of any kind. I am interested in a lot of brilliant things. For example Harry Potter, period dramas, cottagecore, history, indie music , paranormal horror, folklore, yellowstone, the 60s and 70s, witchcraft and plant medicine, interior design, popculture, music and, of course its worth another mentioning, books and audiobooks. The last few weeks have been particularly dark and spicy, considering my reading matter and I will not accept any form of judgement. In real life, I work a very non-fulfilling job at a car sharing firm. I dont study and at the moment I dont even know if I want to start an apprenticeship. I am literally caught in between everything. Caught in between life. By telling you, stranger on the internet, all of these very unexciting facts about my real life, I try to become as approachable and relatable as possible while still protecting my privacy. Maybe you, stranger, can find some comfort in my insignificance.

So lets finally talk some facts. What do I want to talk about in this format? - Go back to the roots of blogging. I want to share thoughts, my feelings, my passions and things that interest me, like the topics I listed earlier. It could be a new book I am reading or some big real-life sorrows a see myself confronted with. And again, my only wish is for myself to be able to put these thoughts somewhere and to maybe help some strange person on the internet that might feel similar.

To finally bring an end to this entry, I´d like to give myself a litte guideline. I want to document my current reading, my current favorite song and a motivating thing that I want to remind myself of.
