Cherry, Cherry 🍒 Chapter 1 🍒 “Austin"
pre-outbreak! AU!Joel Miller x f!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Word count: 2K
Summary: new to the city, you befriend Sarah, and in a time of need you befriend her dad Joel
WARNINGS: this particular chapter is safe for everyone to read, but future chapters will contain smut; mild cursing, little bit of flirting; age gap (reader is 18, Joel is 35); reader is tomboyish but otherwise no race specified and will not be throughout the series; until otherwise specified, this story takes place in the summer of 2003 and is AU with no outbreak, no use of y/n.
Author's Note: this was the first fic I ever wrote, after months of lurking on AO3. It's one of my favorites to write and probably my most popular on AO3, so I'm bringing her to the party. In this particular chapter Joel fixes a sink, and I did minimal investigating into the world of plumbing, so obviously any mistakes are just gonna be there.

Austin is quiet. So much quieter than where you came from: Houston, the city on the bayou, where there's always something fun to do. Not that Austin is without its charm, it just kind of feels like living on the moon after the hustle and bustle of your hometown, the fourth largest city in the US. But the people are friendly, the vibes are mellow, and you soon begin to feel at home.
Soon you'll be starting college at the University of Texas, a school you've had your eye on since fifth grade. Your mom, overprotective but meaning well, allowed you to stay with your older cousin Sofia rather than living on campus. And you're excited about it because even with a roommate, this is your first time on your own, away from home, about to really live your life.
School starts in a couple months, so in the meantime you get a job at a new Starbucks in town, providing you with a little spending money. The first few days are a blur, making drinks, learning the register. But it keeps you busy, A few times a week a younger group of kids come in, ordering the cheapest things on the menu. One of them, a girl 13 or 14 years old, approaches the counter. She studies the overhead menu with an air of seriousness. "What's in a frappuccino?" she asks.
"Um, coffee, espresso, milk, ice, and syrup blended together, basically. Comes with whipped cream on top. I could give you one to try," you offer, as your manager is out that day.
"Sure," the girl answers eagerly.
You make the cold, frothy drink and hand it to her. "I'm still pretty new at this, so if you hate it, I'm sorry," you joke.
She smiles and walks back to her friends, sipping the frapp.
You work until evening and pick up some fast food on the way home, Getting out of the car with your food you lean back against the vehicle, stretching a little, trying to wake yourself up a bit. Then you hear the sound of a truck coming up the driveway next door and the engine shutting off. There are a couple of voices you hear as the people begin to exit the truck.
"Hey, she's the one who gave me the free coffee today," you hear, and though it likely isn't meant for you to hear, you glance over and see the young girl from earlier today, climbing out of the truck. From around the driver's side you see a man, mid-thirties, tall, well-built, a black t-shirt clinging to his torso. Dirtied jeans and work boots complete his attire. It takes a moment before you realize he's looking at you.
Immediately you glance back at the girl, obviously his daughter. "Hey," you smile and give a quick, awkward wave. She waves back politely and he gives a curt nod and quick wave. They make their way up the front porch and you hear his gruff voice: "You had coffee? Great, now you'll be bouncin' off the walls all evenin'," before the door closes behind them.
"Guess I met my neighbors," you mutter, making your way inside as well.
Over the next few days the girl, who you now know as Sarah Miller, comes to Starbucks, ordering the same frapp every time. "Don't tell your dad I'm giving you all this caffeine," you tell her, hiding a smirk.
Sometimes you give her a ride home from the cafe, though she claims to use the bus now and then. You come to see that Sarah is a lot more mature than you were at her age. You hang out from time to time, swim in your backyard pool, go to the mall, and every time you drop her off you catch a glimpse of her dad, always a figure in the background. You exchange a wave or polite smile and move on.
It's your day off, a Sunday. You intend to spend the day lounging, watching TV. Maybe Sarah will stop by. After making a quick breakfast for yourself you do the dishes. When you're finished, you realize the class ring you'd set on the counter is gone, likely washed down the sink. "Damn!" you exclaim, and text Sofia, who has just left for work.
Go next door and ask Mr. Miller if he can take a look and get it out. He's helped around the house before your cousin replies.
You sigh and put the phone down.
You're a little hesitant going to speak to him. His truck is in the driveway so you know he's home. You knock on the door, feeling self-conscious about your first interaction with him, and Mr. Miller opens the door.
"Good morning," you introduce yourself. "I'm Sarah's friend.. from next door."
"Nice to meet ya, I'm Joel Miller." He extends a calloused hand and you shake it. You've always assumed him to be a man who does hard work for a living, but in your first time seeing him up close you admire his tousled, dark brown hair, his deep brown eyes that seem serious. "What can I do for ya?" he asks in his gentle Texan drawl.
You smile. "Well, I was told you're pretty handy around the house, and I lost my ring in the sink just now." You chuckle at your mistake. "Would it be possible for you to come over and take a look?" You feel really shy about asking this of a man you barely know.
He takes a moment to think, clears his throat, raises his brow. "I suppose I could stop by." His tone is gruff but his manner seems warm enough. "I'll give it a shot. I'm no plumber, but I'll see what I can do." He shrugs.
You smile and sigh with relief. "Of course. I mean, even you just checking it out would be a big help.. whenever you can stop by I'll be here." You don't want to make demands on his time.
"All right.. I'm not doin' much right now, so I could swing 'round if you like. Just let me grab my toolbox."
Once inside, with minimal conversation Joel gets on the floor, under the sink, and gets to work. You wait nearby, trying not to hover, but also wanting to be available in case he needs anything. Plus he's good looking. You watch as he works. His shirt rides up, revealing his torso, and a hint of the waistband of his underwear. Your eyes wander lower until you force them away. To distract yourself you start putting things away in the cupboard.
"Sarah tells me you're new to Austin," he says as he works.
"Yeah, I'm actually from Houston. I'm starting UT in the fall, and staying with my cousin in the meantime. I take it you know Sofia?"
"I do. She's nice. I keep an eye on her place when she's away. Even when you're there."
You mean to say something in reply, maybe 'thank you' but you're thinking about him keeping a protective watch over your home while you're inside, unaware.
"So you're starting university? How old are ya?" he asks.
Something about his question makes you feel like a deer in headlights. "I'll be nineteen in September. On the twenty-sixth."
You can almost hear the smile in his voice. "No shit? That's my birthday. Except I'm far from nineteen. Small world, ain't it?"
"Yeah," you say, sneaking another glance at his torso.
"What're you studyin'?"
"English," you answer, excited to talk about it. "More specifically Literature. I want to write, and maybe one day work at a huge publishing house."
You hear Joel give a grunt. "What do you write?"
"Poetry sometimes, short stories, I have a few ideas for novels."
Another grunt. "You don't look like the type.. the writer type.. no offense."
"What type do I look like?" Your heart races as you realize he's categorized you already.
He peeks out from under the sink and his eyes fix on you in a way that makes you shiver. "I don't know yet. But you're young. Maybe you're the rebellious type." He goes back to work.
You sit on the floor, your back against the fridge opposite him. "How am I the rebellious type to you?"
He's quiet, and you see the gleam of his eyes from where he's under the sink. "Haven't quite figured it out yet.."
You can tell he's having fun with this, and there's a vibration in the air, a palpable chord struck, and you wonder if he feels it too.
"Anything I can do? Feeling kinda helpless over here," you chuckle.
"Just stay out of the way," his voice is more gruff than maybe he intends. Frowning, his eyes focus on an item lodged in the P-trap. He reaches in and pulls out your ring. It's covered in gunk and grime but you recognize it immediately.
"Oh shit! Thank you..." It's your class ring. 'Class of 2003' is engraved on the side, with a princess cut sapphire on top. You put it aside to clean it later.
Joel smirks. "No problem."
"I really owe you one."
"I dunno about that. Just don't go throwin' away your valuable stuff next time, okay?" He's teasing, almost playful.
You laugh "Okay.. hey I'm working at the cafe tomorrow. If you come by I could get you a free coffee." You put the offer out there, testing the waters though you aren't sure why.
"Free coffee? Careful, girl, between giving away free stuff to me and Sarah, you're gonna run Starbucks out of business," he grins. "But yeah, I might have to stop by."
You walk him out, even though Joel says it's not necessary, but you can tell he enjoys your company. "I guess I'll be seeing you around Joel.. Mr. Miller."
He stifles a chuckle. There's a touch of amusement in the way he speaks to you, but he hides it behind a warm, open expression. "Call me Joel. No need to be so formal around me."
"If my mom was here she'd say I was being disrespectful, calling you by your first name." You can't help a little blush.
"I won't complain about respect," he smiles again.
"She's pretty protective of me," you describe your living situation, your freedom that is being given in increments.
"Well your mom might've done you a favor there." Joel looks out past your front porch. "That's probably a wise decision, ya know? What about your dad? He ok with you living far from home?"
You shake your head. "He's not.. really in the picture. My parents divorced about five years ago. My dad went up north, Minnesota I think, and I haven't seen him since.." You feel a little vulnerable revealing this.
Joel's brow furrows and his expression darkens. You wonder if he's thinking about Sarah. You don't know much about her mother and haven't felt okay to ask. "I'm sorry to hear that. Are you all right?"
You shrug. "I guess so. I've managed this long without him.." You give a smile that doesn't reach your eyes. "I shouldn't be bothering you with all this.."
"No problem, I don't mind listenin'. Do me a favor," he says suddenly. "Be careful out there, okay?"
Something about this catches you off guard. "Of course I will."
He smiles. "Good. I'll see you at the cafe tomorrow," he phrases it like a hopeful question.
"Bright and early," you say, feeling a few butterflies in your stomach.
He laughs and nods. "Til then."
You watch him leave and though you cringe at how young, foolish, childish you must appear to him, you can't deny that you feel something, even for a brief moment. Maybe it's nothing. But something about him sticks with you, an odd feeling in your chest. But it's just a dumb, knee-jerk reaction. He has a family, he's twice your age. You're focused on school and your future. Joel Miller is the last person you should be thinking about...
...right?

Make Friends, Make Lovers
Tom Kaulitz band v. band fic
Tumblr media
You are the guitarist of the famous German girl group "Engelsoase". With three other girls by your side, you've enchanted the nations with your music. The only catch is, you're not the only stars to come out of the humble roots of small town Germany. A band of combating popularity stands eye to eye with the four of you. They call themselves "Tokio Hotel".
Truthfully, none of you have ever met face to face. All of the tension between the two bands is mostly for publicity. The fans eat up every jab that's thrown between the two bands. Though, watching cute boys, that in any other situation would be your peers, poking fun at you and your best friends has made you distain the rivaling band in a way that's much more real. You'll often find yourself ranting to your bassist, Nadine, about how everything your band does nowadays has to be somehow related to this "Tokio Hotel".
"Listen, if you have such a problem with it, why don't you just ask Kim to do something about it?" Nadine says as she sets down her magazine.
You roll your eyes, "What would Kimmy do about it? Other than lecture me."
"Honestly," Nadine stretches her arms above her head, "I don't really care."
You groan and heave yourself off of the couch, "Fine," Snatching the magazine away from Nadine, "But I'm taking this with me."
Cautiously, you walk into Kim's room, where she's watching the television with your drummer Ines. You stand at the doorway for a minute before you sigh. "Kimmy? Can I talk to you for a sec'?" You ask. Almost in unison, Kim and Ines turn their heads to look at you.
"Sure thing," Kim turns to look at Ines, who's already begrudgingly getting off the bed. The small girl pats your shoulder as she leaves. "What's up?" Kim asks as she pauses the TV and turns to look at you. You shuffle into the room and sigh.
"Listen," You sigh as you fidget with the magazine you took from Nadine moments earlier, "This Tokio Hotel rivalry thing is getting so old. I don't know how much longer I can just be okay with being a boy band's duff." Looking at her, expecting her to be annoyed by your confession, only to find she's.. not. At all. Actually, she has a small smirk creeping up her face. You speak up, having noticed her mischievous demeanor, "What? Why are you smiling?"
"Oh, no reason." She says, turning back to the TV, "I don't think you'll have to worry about that 'Tokio Hotel rivalry thing' much more." And with that, you leave her room in confusion.
For the next week, it was radio silent about Tokio Hotel or anything of the sort.
But, that Saturday, getting lunch with the rest of your band, Kim dropped the bomb.
Swallowing down another bite of wurst, she clears her throat and speaks up, "So, girls, I'm going to be taking us to Berlin this afternoon." The questions spring out at an instant. 'Why?', 'Where are we going?', 'Do we need anything?'. But you stay silent, because Kim is smiling at you in specific.
She shushes Nadine and Ines and smiles devilishly, "This has been in the books for weeks, and everything is well coordinated." Kim beats around the bush, but you have a hunch. A hunch that you hope so dearly isn't true...
The car ride to Berlin is a quiet one. You sit in the back seat, with your arms crossed. Nadine sits beside you with her headphones on, Ines in the passenger seat and drumming on her thighs with her hands, while Kim drives. You know where you're going, and you know you can't do anything about it. You don't know why you're so upset about it, but you are. It's not really the boys' faults, you suppose. Maybe it's the media's fault, or the interviewer's. But it's so much easier to dislike four boys instead of disliking thousands of faceless reporters.
The car pool comes to an end at a high rise building that towers above the vehicle. Sun already beginning to set, the four of you walk in…
The four of you are greeted by tall boys with the same expressions as you. Kim shakes the tallest one’s hand and it’s easy to tell this was set up by the both of them.
“Well, make yourselves at home,” The tall boy says, his eyes dark as he looks at Kim, “We’re so glad we can finally meet you all.”
He turns to the rest of his bandmates and nods, they nod back. Your eyes meet the guitarist of the rivaling band’s, you watch as he looks you up and down and bites his decorated lip. “Gross,” You mumble to yourself. But it seems Tom heard you, his gaze softening.
It seems as if all the band members divvy themselves out to their “counterparts” at first. Not you. You take the glass of champagne that the tallest boy— the one with the makeup on— Bill, was it?— and you make a break for the balcony that overlooks the city.
You let out a relieved sigh as you not so subtly slam the sliding glass door behind you. Taking a sip of the champagne in your glass— huh, at least they have good taste.
There’s a light breeze out here, and the city lights, you find, are quite beautiful. It’s tranquil, and you almost forget that you were forced to be here. It’s not so bad, you conclude, they seemed hospitable enough. Maybe that Tom boy was a bit too hospitable for your liking, but it could be worse.
After a few minutes, you hear the glass door to your back slowly push open. Rolling your eyes to yourself, you turn back to look who it is. Strangely enough, it’s Tom.
“Mind if I join you?” He asks softly. This.. weirds you put a little. Tom was the bad boy, the player, but he seems quite gentle now.
“Uhh.. sure?” You respond as your turn back to lean against the railing of the balcony. He shuffles over beside you. Already, you can feel his eyes on you. “What brings you out here?” You ask, turning to look at him slowly.
His eyes are wide and full, he clears his throat softly and looks up at the sky. “It.. got boring in there.” He says.
“What’s with the change of personality?” You ask, “What happened to player-Tom? The bad-boy?”
He looks almost embarrassed at the question, “Well, I tried it but.. you weren’t even wooed, even a little bit.” He chuckles, as if in disbelief.
“So now you’re just gonna act like a kicked puppy?” You giggle, he looks at you fondly, still a bit embarrassed.
“Yes, actually. That’s the plan,” Tom says lightheartedly, turning his body towards you a bit more. As if he’s growing more comfortable with you.
2 cups of champagne each. 2 hours later. Giggling and evading each of your bandmates. You find, you really enjoy this boy’s company. It’s late, but you’re not tired really. Not at all. You both sit criss-cross, side by side, thigh to thigh, with your backs to the railing as you watch all your bandmates play a board game together.
“Y’know… I really like you,” Tom says softly, turning his head to you.
“Really?”
“Yeah, I mean, you’re so different,” He adds, “You don’t care about all that superficial stuff, you’re fun to hang out with.”
After a quiet moment you nod, “I could say the same about you.. unfortunately.”
The both of you chuckle softly. He places his hand on your thigh.
“I thought I’d hate this— or just like hook up with Kim or something,” He says, and you make a mock throwing up noise, at which he laughs, “But I was wrong!”
The two of you just sort of.. look at each other for a moment.
To your complete and utter surprise, you go in for it first. It’s sloppy, and half hazard, the two of you’s lips meeting like neither of you have ever kissed before. But you both quickly get the handle of it, dear god he’s a good kisser. He pulls away and looks at you with wide eyes.
“Cool,” He mumbles to himself and disbelief.
“Yeah…” You whisper back, leaning in again.

The Other Mayfield
Part 1: The Aftermath
Steve Harrington x Fem Mayfield Reader x Eddie Munson
☽——☽——☽——☽——☽——☽——☽——☽
The Aftermath of the Vecna fight was difficult for everyone and has changed everything but slowly it's getting back to somewhat normal.
Max almost died and was in the hospital in a coma for weeks until she suddenly woke up one day with the help of El who has barely left her side.
Eddie was badly injured but Dustin got him out of the Upside Down and into a hospital once the fight was over.
After a few weeks he was almost back to normal with the scars still left behind and the nightmares still lingering.
The murders the town originally thought was his doing were cleared due to Hopper doing something but the group isn't sure exactly what he did. Eddie got his own place with Gareth as a roommate and live in a trailer with three bedrooms.
Hopper returned but some things had changed like he no longer drank a lot and he has lost lots of weight due to being a prisoner to the Russians in Kamchatka where he was fed maggots and moldy bread.
El got her powers back and had helped with Max's recovery and had been stuck to Max's side since she's woken up.
The Byers moved back with El and are now living in a new place while El and Hopper are back in the cabin after the group all helped to fix it back up to its old shape.
For the older teens:
Robin has been having more conversations with Vickie and is now in an almost relationship with her and is convinced she’s hopelessly in love.
She still works at Family Video with Steve and Y/n where she rambles on about her conversations with Vickie.
Jonathan and Nancy are stronger than ever and have decided to not put so much pressure on going to the same college because Jonathan was offered a photography internship at a large magazine company near where Nancy wants to attend college.
86 was Eddie's year, he finally graduated after long hours of studying with Y/n.
He started playing his guitar again and Corroded Coffin is becoming more popular with The Hideout being packed instead of the same three drunks and having meetings with talent scouts. Using the cut of money the band has gotten he got a new place with Gareth. Even though he's not in high school anymore he still plays D&D with Hellfire when he's not working at the mechanic shop or practicing with the band. He stills keeps in contact with Wayne who moved into a two bedroom house across town where he lives with his new girlfriend Debby who loves the kids and especially Y/n.
Steve has continued to work at Family Video and has decided that he wants to continue working instead of going to college. He's still the babysitter or the mom of the group. After saving for years he had enough to move out into his own apartment which he did where he now shares a place with Robin. With the help of Robin and Dustin he finally realized that he shouldn't try to date anymore because the only girl he wants to be with is once of his closest friends who is currently in a relationship.
Argyle moved just outside of Hawkins into a shitty but livable apartment. He got a management position with Surfer Boy Pizza where a location was built in Hawkins. And since he's been living in Hawkins, he's continued to hangout with Jonathan and has gotten close with the other older teens especially Y/n and Eddie when the four of them get high together.
Y/n is still living in the shitty run down trailer park with her mom who is barely around and when she is she's passed out drunk on the couch but it isn't all bad because she still has Max who is still a bit closed off but is starting to open up more.
After her stepbrother Billy died and Neil left her mom, Susan hasn't been the same and has taken up drinking which is now turning into a huge mess and because of this Max usually goes to stay at El's house and Y/n goes to stay with Robin and Steve, Argyle or Eddie. She's still in a relationship with her boyfriend Noah of almost a year even if her friends aren't his biggest fans.

Saartjie (Sara) Baartman was one of the first black women known to be subjugated to human sexual trafficking. She was derisively named the “Hottentot Venus” by Europeans as her body would be publicly examined and exposed inhumanly throughout the duration of her young life.  Moreover. her experience reinforced the already existing and extremely negative sexual fascination with African women bodies by the people of Europe.
Sara Baartman was born in 1789 at the Gamtoos River, now known as the Eastern Cape in South Africa. Baartman and her family were members of the Gonaquasub group of the Khoikhoi. Baartman grew up on a colonial farm where she and her family most likely worked as servants. Her mother died when she was aged two and her father, who was a cattle driver, died when she was still a young girl.
By her teenage years Baartman married a Khoikhoi man who was a drummer. They had a child together who died shortly after birth. When Baartman was sixteen, her husband was murdered by Dutch colonists. Soon after, she was sold into slavery to a trader named Pieter Willem Cezar, who took her to Cape Town where she became a domestic slave to his brother, Hendrik. On October 29, 1810, although she could not read, 21-year-old Baartman supposedly signed a contract with William Dunlop, a physician, who was a friend of the Cezar brothers.
This contract required her to travel with the Cezar brothers and Dunlop to England and Ireland where she would work as a domestic servant since technically slavery had been abolished in Great Britain. Additionally, she would be exhibited for entertainment purposes. Baartman would receive a portion of earnings from her exhibitions and would be allowed to return to South Africa after five years. However, the contract was false on all details and her enslavement continued for the remainder of her life.
Baartman was first exhibited in London in the Egyptian Hall at Piccadilly Circus on November 24, 1810. Her public treatment, however, quickly drew the attention of British abolitionists who charged Dunlop and the Cezars with holding Baartman against her will. The court ruled against Baartman after Pieter Cezar produced the contract that had been signed by Baartman. Baartman also testified that she was not being mistreated.
The publicity generated by the court trial increased Baartman’s popularity as an exhibit.  She was taken on tours throughout England and by 1812 as far away as Limerick, Ireland.
In September 1814, after staying four years in Great Britain, Baartman was taken to France and sold to S. Reaux, an exhibitor who showcased animals. He put Baartman on public display in and around Paris, often at the Palais Royal. He also allowed her to be sexually abused by patrons willing to pay for her defilement. Reaux garnered considerable profit due to the public’s fascination with Baartman’s body.
Sara Saartjie Baartman died in Paris on December 29, 1815 at the age of 26 for unknown reasons.  Even after her death, many of her body parts would go on display at the Musée de l’Homme (Museum of Man), in Paris to support racist theories about people of African ancestry. Some of the body parts remained on display until 1974.
In 1994 South African President Nelson Mandela formally requested that Baartman’s remains be returned to South Africa.  On March 6, 2002, her remains were returned and buried at Hankey in the Eastern Cape Province.

( taylor kinney, cis male, he & him ) — is that really everett mulligan? i thought so, since i heard into the jungle by x ambassodors ft jamie n commons blasting just now. well, welcome to cole, wyoming! what brings you here as a 43 year-old? a job as a lieutenant firefighter at firehouse 10? wonderful. we’re glad to have you. talk around town is you can be a little hot headed, but i myself believe you’re more courageous… but is it true that you come from money & politics? wild. well, i’ll let you get back to it!
Kelly Mulligan was born and raised in Cole, Wyoming. He had met his wife during his Sophomore year in College all the way in New York at New York University. Sybil Wilson was a Freshman and from Atlanta, Georgia. They were in the same class, and of course Sybil forgot all of her pens and pencils, sitting next to Kelly asking for one. It didn’t take much for Kelly to fall for the studious Freshman and he didn’t care that she was a grade younger.
Kelly came from a long line of Firefighters and Politicians, and even though that’s what his parents and grandparents wanted him to be, Kelly did not. Kelly wanted to study business and politics. That’s exactly what he did, Kelly studied business communications, while Sylvie supported his decision she studied english and early education. Overall the two had a good college experience, nothing too extreme. Had a good group of friends, kept to themselves.
It wasn’t until they graduated that Kelly had proposed to Sylvie, with her of course saying yes. With their wedding coming and going, the two were happy and in love. During their honeymoon, the two officially decided they wanted a big family. That’s exactly what they got.
William Thomas Mulligan was the first born, then Mitchell Michael Mulligan, then Addison Christine Mulligan, Everett Reilly Mulligan, and finally Isabelle Rose Mulligan. The Mulligan siblings were tight night and loved each other more than anything.
Everett had a charmed life. He grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth, and while money wasn’t everything, Everett had his parents to thank for not struggling. He got good grades in school, was popular and genially just loved being with is family. His family meant everything to him, but when he was a Senior in High School, the man realized he wanted to get out into the World and explore a little bit. He chose Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. Majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Safety Studies. However that wasn’t what he wanted to do in life. With being lost after graduation, it was his grandfather on his dads side who suggested he’d become a firefighter like he was.
Moving back home to Cole, Wyoming, Everett went straight into the academy and became a firefighter. A few years after, he became Lieutenant. It made him happy, being able to help whenever he could and being close to his family again. Though the man was lonely, and someone on squad had set him up on a blind date. Juliette Stone, the girl he didn’t realize who was from Cole, Wyoming. The first date went well, and when she agreed to the second date then the rest was history. Like his father did with his mother, Everett had fallen hard for the young women. Normally he didn’t but there was something about Juliette Stone whom he simply just called Julie. Things were good between them for a few years, leading Everett to buy an engagement ring.
Right before proposing, their relationship took a turn. Always fighting, always disagreeing on things and that’s when she packed up her bags and left without a word. Not till days after, telling him she had gotten a job offer in some other state she just couldn’t turn down. It crushed him, broke him.  Though the man had his family, and his job and stayed in Cole and has been here ever since.

If you replace a poc with someone else, lets say another minority, and it is obvious that they r a minority, like they r wearing pride flag stuff, they're wearing a hijab, etc. and something vague that someone says about that person, like. idk. about them not being the kinda person you should hang around with. and you would call that person homophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, etc. for saying that about the person? It isn't bigotry. If the statement could be applied to anyone. Then it isn't bigotry.
Yes this is about Billy Hargrove. Also YOU GUYS HAVE NO CLUE WHAT CONTEXT MEANS AND IT SHOWS. Max literally yelled at Lucas IN FRONT OF BILLY. HE WAS LIKE 20 FEET AWAY WATCHING AND LISTENING TO THE FIGHT. She yelled at him that he makes her feel like shit/that he treats her like shit. And whether u wanna admit it or not, Billy does care about Max. And even if he didn't, he is forced to take care of her. He has to be the parent. SO WHY THE HELL. After hearing that this random boy he's never met, treats his little sister who he cares about and is forced to be responsible for, like shit. Would he NOT tell her that there are some people you shouldn't be around. And that that boy is one of them. And in the Byer house where he sees her with Lucas again, AFTER HE WAS JUST ABUSED BECAUSE SHE RAN AWAY, of fucking course he's gonna target Lucas and not one of the other boys. He hasn't seen them with Max, he has no reason to thing of them as being bad influences or harmful.
And fuck no it doesn't excuse his actions or make them okay. He still attacked a 13/14 (don't remember their exact age) yr old. But nothing about his words or actions are explicitly, outwardly, whatever word u wanna use, racist. And even if he is racist (which by the way, every yt person, especially/specifically in America has institutionalized racism at the very least which takes a long time, and lots of education to break down, which isn't gonna fucking happen when u live in an abusive household where you have other things you have to focus on so you and ur kid sister don't fucking die, especially in the 80's), Max never fucking says anything about it. Even if what he said or did was racist, Max never said or did anything. Obviously I could understand her not saying anything to Billy because she might think he'd get angry. But she never goes to Lucas trying to comfort him, apologize for Billy's behavior, anything.
While I'm on the topic I might as well bring up the fact that NO ONE IN THE SHOW. EVER FUCKING TREATS LUCAS WITH RESPECT OR UNDERSTANDING IN RELATION TO HIS STRUGGLES WITH BEING A BLACK TEENAGER IN THE 80'S. In season 1, he gets SO MUCH shit from the fandom for not trusting Jane/El. A random girl who showed up out of no where, who, through no fault of her own, brings a bunch of dangerous ppl coming after the group. And basically no one gives Mike any shit for doing the same thing to Max in season 2. In season 4 when he is trying to fit in, to not be seen as a weirdo, outcast, freak, etc. So fucking many people treated him like he's an asshole for that. He is a black 15 yr old boy in the fucking 80's. In a town that is predominantly white. Where all of his friends are white. Most of the people at his school, are white. Of fucking course he's gonna do whatever he can to "fit in" and stay with the popular crowd. Not doing that would put even more of a target on his back. I'm so happy they put in that brief moment at Benny's where the only other black person on the team and at the house comes over to tell him it will be okay after the police show up. That he's not gonna be in trouble. Despite a good portion of the fandom being really diverse, be it queer, poc, etc. so many of y'all put the cishet yt characters on a pedestal and either ignore or straight up shit on the few queer characters & poc characters.
That's the end of my fucking rant for now. I'm tired. Thanks for coming to my TEDTalk. night guys.

It is one of the country’s most prestigious public schools, a historic building on the edge of a pretty town that has educated everyone from poets to comedians – and now counts a future queen among its alumni.
Since it was founded in 1843 for the purpose of educating the sons of clergymen, the £42,930-per-year Marlborough College has seen artist William Morris, the poets John Betjeman and Siegfried Sassoon, and Samantha Cameron, wife of the former prime minister David Cameron, as well as funnyman Jack Whitehall pass through its halls and corridors.
And in 1996 – seven years after it became fully co-educational, having previously only admitted girls in the sixth form - it welcomed a princess-in-waiting, even if few might have guessed it at first.
The then 14-year-old Kate Middleton arrived in Marlborough, Wiltshire, as a shy and lanky teen, having moved after enduring alleged bullying at her previous school, Downe House.
It would prove to be an entrée into a world, which would eventually see her rubbing shoulders with a notably privileged group of students and see her secure a place at the ancient St Andrews University – where Prince William happened to be studying.
Tumblr media
Such a trajectory seemed unlikely when she first arrived in rural Wiltshire, however.
‘She had very little confidence,’ recalled her dorm mate Gemma Williamson, who described the new arrival who joined in the middle of the year as 'thin and pale.'
Kate’s house tutor Joan Gall said she was suffering from eczema due to stress.
‘When she arrived, she was very quiet. Coming into a big school like Marlborough was difficult, but she settled in quickly.’
Miss Gall previously said: ‘It was like a big, happy family. We would do things like bake cakes and watch videos.’
Certainly, the girl who would go on to become a celebrated royal beauty did not initially catch the eye of male pupils, who would crudely give passing girls a score out of ten as they made their way to supper. Kate was given a mere two.
Yet during her four years at Marlborough, the future Princess of Wales blossomed into a beautiful, sought after young woman as well as an accomplished one who excelled at hockey and who would go on to become co-captain of the tennis team.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In fact, unlike her time at Downe House, Kate felt at home from the start of her time at Marlborough, where she joined the school's cosy all-girls boarding house, Elmhurst.
Contemporaries recall her as the perfect pupil, listening to her Walkman, watching Friends and indulging in Marmite sandwiches.
Meanwhile, housemistress Ann Patching recalled her former pupil's love of lasagne and pasta bakes but said that 'Kate always stayed very slim.’
Naturally kind hearted, she quickly gained a close circle of friends, among them her peers on the hockey team, one of whom accompanied her on a trip to Ibiza to recover from her heartbreak after she briefly broke up with Prince William in 2007.
Unfazed by her popularity however, she remained a responsible role model and was never caught with illicit booze unlike her friends, one of whom once confided:
'A group of us used to sneak off to Reading to go drinking but she would never join us.'
In fact, Kate was only charged with one lapse in good behaviour when she threw up on the train home after an all-night champagne and dance party hosted by a member of her hockey team.
It was after a hockey tour to Argentina, friends recall – followed by a family trip to the Caribbean - that a then 16-year-old Kate returned to the school sixth firm newly transformed.
‘She was an absolute beauty,‘ according to friend Gemma, who says 'boys now fancied her rotten.’
Among them was the comedian Jack Whitehall, who attended Marlborough a few years below Kate and who admitted in an interview that she was his first crush.
He later joked of being jealous of the attention the princess received from the school, venting:
''I went to the same secondary school as Kate Middleton and she's someone they like to talk about.
I've been sending them a letter each year saying maybe now it's time to put me in the school prospectus or on the walls. I feel like I'm their dirty little secret.'
Nonetheless, despite becoming a favoured among the boys, the princess did not have lengthy dalliances with the opposite sex.
'I got the distinct impression that Catherine wanted to save herself for someone special,' said Gemma previously.
Her first kiss is believed to have been with Woody, the elder brother of Alice St John Webster - one of Kate's closest friends.
She also reportedly had a brief romance with Harry Blakelock, captain of the rugby team, which fizzled out after he left school, leaving Kate 'heartbroken.'
There’s no question that Kate made quite an impact on her school, later hailed as 'Person most likely to be loved by everybody' in her yearbook, when she departed on her gap year before heading to University of St Andrews after achieving two As and a B in her A Levels.
By then, she had been followed to Marlborough by her younger sister Pippa who, untainted by earlier experiences of bullying, was seen by contemporaries as the more naturally confident half of the Middleton pair.
She enrolled at the same boarding house as her older sister and joined the hockey team, yet there was little in the way of sibling rivalry according to contemporaries.
Tumblr media
In fact, along with friend Alice St John Webster, they are remembered as a tight trio.
'Alice, Pippa and Kate were a very tight group and all best friends from the age of 14 upwards. It could be a bit suffocating. They did everything together,' one friend said.
Riding a wave of success in the sporting and social spheres at prep school, Pippa won an all-rounder scholarship to Marlborough and became captain of the hockey team.
Unlike Kate's meek start at the college, Pippa took every opportunity to make an impression at the school, with one contemporary saying:
'Pippa was slightly tough and, back then, the one with the charisma. No one would ever think of bullying her.'
She was given the unfortunate nickname 'pan face' because of her supposed flat features but was not put off trying to impress her male peers, even when playing sport.
'My focus is on winning and making sure that my hair — fashioned into a slick Sporty Spice “up do” — is just right. Did I mention boys watching?' she wrote in the Spectator.
Seen as the 'alpha' sister in contrast to 'kind hearted, home-loving' Kate, Pippa 'loved being the centre of attention' according to one contemporary.
She was chatty, funny and louder than her sister but, despite her sociable nature, she followed Kate's example of dodging drinking and smoking.
Housemistress Ann Patching later described the relationship between the well-behaved pair saying:
'Pippa was good at everything and sharper academically, but I don’t think Catherine ever resented that.'
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Twenty three years after Kate departed for the last time, meanwhile, there is no question that the school - with its serene setting amid two lakes, and boasting a competition swimming pool, cricket pavilion and international-standard athletics track - remains a popular destination for well-heeled parents.
According to the Which school guide, competition for places at the school increased after it became known as the alma mater of the Princess of Wales.
Nor has it stopped it being mired in the occasional scandal.
In 2016, some of the older pupils brought in a stripper to perform on the grounds, an act later branded 'inappropriate' by the school.
The boarding school was also criticised last year for not carrying out necessary safeguarding checks on teachers, after an Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report revealed that checks including barred lists for prior criminal offences were not completed.
A spokesperson for the school said at the time:
'Since our compliance inspection, the college has upgraded the record-keeping processes highlighted in the ISI report.
'We have been keeping our parents informed and are looking forward to an early re-inspection.'
None of this is likely to deter the wealthy elite, many of whom will doubtless be anxious for their own offspring to attend a school that prepped the Princess of Wales for her royal calling – and if rumour has it, may also be set to educate her offspring.

Chapter 2:Lets talk
Donna Brown has always been a strong woman from growing up the strong amazing woman her Auntie Mama taught her to be when Donna and her kids were left alone after divorcing her excuse of an ex-husband Robert life was hard for a while, especially with it resulted having a bit of a rocky relationship with her kids without a Father around in their life but she did her best to keep her children under control being aware that they needed a father figure at times yet despite any issues she deeply loves her kids and cares for them with all her heart then joy came back into her life while one day working at the school as her job as the principal's assistant that she reconnected with her old childhood best friend Cleveland Brown and his son Jr.
Who were visiting town for a while and wanting to catch up she invited them to come stay at her place where later on the two would soon realize their true feelings for each other showing true love that soon resulted them in tying the knot and bringing their families together in a new beginning. They have a few ups and downs but their love stays strong the kids soon grow to accept her husband and Junior families getting along together as a whole. This morning she was going to pick them up some breakfast treats for Cleveland and the boys who we're going to have a father and sons weekend. Leaving her and Roberta the house all to themselves but her daughter was going to see her boyfriend Federline Jones whom she's been keeping a strong distant relationship ever since they moved to Cleveland's old home in Quahog after losing their house in a hurricane last year it was a big change for them but as long as they were together they were going to make it work.
As she was making her way inside the cafe she noticed just in time a commotion going on, she frowned when she realized it was a group of teens she recognized from the high school she was going to attend as their new assistant principal. One of the students she recognized immediately that she heard was quite a troublemaker Connie Lisa D'Amico a popular student who tends to bully a lot of people about what her daughter Roberta has told her, especially towards Griffin's eldest daughter Megan. She believed it was and they did nothing about it which infuriated her giving her secret reasons not to like Lois and what she heard Connie was expelled for quite some time after her latest stunt and now is on eggshells with her reputation but it seems this child doesn't seem to learn her lesson and is picking on a stranger for no reason well not on Donna Brown's witness Connie ready to slap the girl! Oh no no this child needs to put some sense into her. There will be no bullying on her watch in or outside the school! Quickly rushing over she was just in time to grab hold of the hand before she could hit the poor girl's face in a stern but claim she intervened as if breaking up a fight back when she worked in Stoolbend High School "All right now that is enough!" The teens' eyes widen in shock as did Connie in the realization of being caught which also made her mad "Hey don't you mind your own business old hag mind your own damn…!" Trying to loosen her arm from the woman's grip Gina cut in "Connie don't you see who that is that's the new assistant principal!" Before Connie had to return to school the principal announced a new assistant for him and the vice principal second in command who would be helping to keep an eye on the students and be stricter about the bullying that's been happening and keep the teens under control having heard that Mrs. Brown for keeping kids who got into trouble in line. "you look surprised Miss D'Amico and yes I know who you are child and I know about the ugly bullying reputation you have in school and I do not put up with that nonsense and I was informed by your pants and the principal that this is your last chance to make up in school but you are not at risk for repeating and not get to graduate or even worse be expelled again I can see your bad habits hadn't changed you should be ashamed of yourself for picky on people for no reason especially if it's someone you don't even know great fast molasses I can't believe people like you think this is normal."Looking at the students with a disappointed look. The teens suddenly looked down in shame on their faces "y'all are lucky I won't be reporting this to your parents or worse the police for this kind of behavior!" She continued to scold "I swear the kind of behavior should be knocked out with some sense into y'all!" Turning to Connie her stern hardened causing Connie to worry knowing that kind of stern whenever she got in serious trouble "Now I appreciate that you should apologize to the young lady." Begrudgingly let out "I'm very sorry.” towards Meg letting go of her hand.
Looking at Connie in the eye and at the teens "I will be keeping an eye on you child and I suggest you keep your behavior in check for your Mama and Daddy's sake and that goes for all of you as long as Mrs.Brown is here, there will be no bullying here or anywhere do you understand.?" She gently let go of Connie's arm dropping it to her side in defeat and embarrassment. the other teens nodded still keeping their heads low avoiding eye contact with Connie and slightly embarrassed. Soon a ding came relieving the tension in the air as the employees who just witnessed the whole thing looked on impressed "Here's your order and I appreciate it if y'all did not come back here for a while." He said sternly "I'll even report my manager if you do I will have no bullying in this Cafe!" The teens reluctantly did as they were let out the door not before karma hit Connie again as she sharply turned she ended up slipping on the spilled coffee landing on her butt with a big 'THUMP!' And ‘Oof!’ Causing the liquid to stain on her backside as if she had soiled herself causing a few silent giggles to slip as she stood up humiliated letting out a frustrated 'humph!" Walking out the door okay with a silent slam.
After a moment of calmness, Donna turned to the young lady to check on her "Are you all right sweetie?" The voice and look of a concerned mother ready to comfort her child as Meg slowly rubbed her wrist fading the soreness from Connie's grip "Yes I'm fine, thank you, Mrs. Brown." She responded before realizing but she said as Donna suddenly got a good look at her instantly recognizing her features. "Sweet peaches and sugary cream Meg Griffin is that you?" Meg shyly nodded "I barely recognized you baby you look adorable and I love that honey it looks so pretty on you hon." This caught Meg off guard not expecting someone to say something sweet to her. It seemed she was surprised by Meg's change in appearance usually she always saw her in glasses and a cute pink beanie her cheeks seemed to blush a pinker shade she gave a soft "Thank you."By Donna's comment, she remembered her spilled coffee on the floor sigh looked like she was going to have to get a new one when Donna surprised her again with unexpected sweetness "Oh I'm sorry ya lost your coffee honey how about you let me buy you a new one my treat?" Meg was about to protest that it was alright but Donna was already at the cabinet asking about what she ordered.
Donna didn't realize that her debit card fell out of her purse and slid towards her feet, she noticed it just in time the moment Donna was looking for it "Hey Mrs. Brown I think you dropped this?" Making Donna happy her car was found "Oh thank you Meg I didn't realize it fell until you told me." Meg shrugged as if it was no problem giving a "you're welcome" to her. "So tell me Meg honey what brings you here at the cafe have any plans for the weekend?" Donna asked after finishing their orders she heard the Griffins were going on a trip today but Meg didn't seem to be with them "Well I," how can she put it "I.. decided I didn't want to go,"
She didn't want to go through with crazy stressful drama and (abuse she said in her mind) for a while not mind staying home alone and besides their probably gone by now. "I see," Donna raised her brow a little she heard a couple of rumored whispers about how the Griffins treat their oldest child giving her a reason why she never liked them, especially Lois and the only reason she even hung out with her was because of her husband's friendship with Peter that she didn't also like seeing him is nothing but a pathetic Man child it's even rumored that she may not be his child and could be the reason why he treats her that way but she isn't sure she wonders if this baby girl knows it herself probably not though.
She put those thoughts away for now as Donna thought of an idea! "Meg, how would you like to come over and join me for coffee?" Watching the girl's big eyes widen surprised by this offer "Oh um are you sure Mrs. Brown, that's really kind of you but I wouldn't want to intrude or be a burden in your home," she tried to decline but Donna assured her "of course sweetheart there's no need to think of that you wouldn't be a burden at all that is just nonsense child besides I could use the company with Cleveland and the boys heading out for their father-son weekend and Roberta visiting her boyfriend it's going to be a bit quiet in the house and it would be delightful to have someone to talk to,"
Meg thought for a moment (maybe it wouldn't be so bad) and Mrs. Brown did buy her a new coffee and treat with her own money to help make up for the one she lost that she felt grateful for, ya know what she'll go for it. "sure I would like that Mrs. Brown it would be nice," accepting her offer Donna smiling at her making her feel warm and fuzzy inside "all right baby sounds good to me," eventually they heard their ring that their orders were ready as the cashier handed them yellow, pink, and white donut boxes full of delicious goodness and fresh coffee when Donna check the receipt she was confused "excuse me but this is only half of what I paid for I need to pay for the full amount I ordered" the cashier smiled "no need to miss, let's just say this is a small thank you discount town for standing up to bullies and helping someone in need have a wonderful blessed morning." He explained before waving goodbye and getting the next order for a customer ready surprising both women "Well sweet beans and dreams isn’t that sweet customer service," Donna exclaimed "I guess it is Mrs. Brown, kind deeds do have their rewards sometimes," both giggled appreciating sweet kindness of the cafe as they both headed out the door Meg helping carry the boxes to Donna's "yes indeed Meg please sugar call me Donna,"as Donna drove them back to her place she and Meg had a small chat with each other Yes and as they headed back to Donna's, they got to know each other Meg learned that Donna enjoyed playing the recorder, dancing, and singing karaoke as Meg shares her interest of ballet, playing the cello, roller skating, bird calling and avid bowling. Once they made it back to Spooner St the Griffin's car was already gone and Donna's husband and the kids were already finished packing up the car as Donna pulled up the driveway.

Have you watched the Kdrama "Nevertheless"?
spoiler!!!!
It's a story about a girl who develops feelings for her FWB, who is a very popular guy and behind the scenes they are total bf gf and she’s falling hard for him but he is still close to his ex who is visiting. she realizes that he may never commit to her and starts avoiding him.
She does that after confronting him and after he has been total jerk to her and she discovers he has lead other girls on the same way. She briefly leaves town and He follows her trying to win her back and is being loved by her aunt, he then confesses his feelings many times but the girl chooses not to believe at all.
They go to the same art school, they have always acted like there's nothing going on between them, while she was vising her town her friends visits her too??? one of her friend from her friend group is openly hitting on him and simultaneously there’s a childhood friend of the girl who is trying to pursue her. but then the childhood-guy realizes that these two have something going on and he puts his feelings aside and stops pursuing her. Also, The fuck boy in this show knows how to make the girl weak he’s just so perfect like that lol.
On returning back, she has been failing her art classes and the Fboy offers to help to which they work together on the condition that he leaves her alone for good before the final art exhibition. (they work in his basement and he finally shows her his place or something i dont remember) right before the exhibition He keeps his word and leaves her without a way to contact him.
After doing well in the exhibition she realizes she has noone to share the good news with ( esp him) she tries to find him, but there's no trace.... the girl goes to the basement where they worked on the project to realize he has sold the house.. she then discovers old sketches of her drawn by him out of admiration, he has drawn her the very first time he ever saw her a year ago (she didn't know him then but he had seen her already) and how grateful we was that their paths crossed again in art school, she finds out he always loved her but was too afraid to express his feelings. He knew from the start she deserves someone better and he knows he is too careless with her heart..
Love at first sight kinda thing for him, even though he got a chance to be with her he constantly fucked up and now its too late bc the girl will never take him back. This is just a brief summary of the series it’s actually very nice and detailed they do end up together.
your writing Betrayed reminded me a lot of the show , both the guys are playing with girls heart and how the girls get wiser and push them away is when the guys get their act together … I hope you get inspired and actually give the reader & Pedro a chance because I am assuming they aren’t fwb.. I hope they either cross the friends line if not at least now or P suffers watching other pursue her but the reader isn't really happy bc it's not P... I wish to see some element of wants/cravings lol
Great Work!!!!!!!
I have never!!! I have a lot of kdramas on my nefltix list but i never got to watch them because I'm honestly so lazy for series and i usually waste all my time on soap opera lmao but this whole story sounds absolutely amazing!!! That's definitely the kind of drama i like and i already added it to my list, and as it is a short series I'll take a look at it on the weekend, so hopefully I'll enjoy it as much as I did the description you sent me!
It is funny how similar the plots are, but i swear I didn't watch it, it all came from my mind plus my lovely anon's ideas hehehe, but I'm happy to see a lot of people dig into drama hahaha
Pedro and reader aren't fwb but there's definitely feelings between them, they are unresolved and they need to figure out if they'll stay together or not. I'm so excited to see what people will think of this next chapter, I guess people will be divided, hehehe thanks for the awesome ask, anon!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

( ellie bamber, 23, cis female, she/her ) RHIANNON 'RHIA' ANDREWS has been living in Point Place for TWENTY THREE YEARS. Their favorite song is KILLER QUEEN BY QUEEN. They’re currently up to WORKING AT THE RECORD STORE, but they’d rather be ATTENDING CONCERTS. First impressions usually stick around here, and others describe them as EASY GOING, CHARISMATIC AND 'WILD'. Stick around to get to know the real them. ( sky, 21, GMT-3, she/her )
Tumblr media
☆ born to carefree, and self-proclaimed hippies during the 60s, parents -- rhiannon was given a childhood that would set her up for what the rest of her life would be like. david & johanna instilled the basical morals & values that you'd teach your child if you wanted them to grow up into a decent person, but apart from that? they didn't believe or rules. or limitations. there was absolutely no pressure from either of them to go into a specific path. she didn't even have a curfew. they wanted her to have fun. enjoy life. and discover herself.
☆ this sounds cool, right? the other kids sure thought so! they always complained about how jealouss they were of her. and it is, in a way. it's something rhia talks about fondly, says how it made such an independent person out of her. how it made her 'free'. but, in the back of her mind, it's always nagged her. she wishes they'd given her some structure, and acted like parents instead of friends -- it bordered on neglect, at times, and made her feel like they didn't really care about her.
☆ in the end, it didn't really matter. because, whatever she didn't get at home, she got outside of it. she was the type of girl to have a lot of friends, back at school. popular, but kind. kind, but not boring. that sort of thing. she got along with all sorts of groups of people, not sticking to one -- mostly because she changed her personality around to suit whoever she was around with. that way, they'd find her cool. and, that way, she'd have attention on her. after all, why be yourself when you could play along with people's dreams and ensure their love?
☆ this is a behaviour she carried into adulthood. old habits die hard. she doesn't even know who 'herself' is, anymore.
☆ a little bit before her senior year of high school, she picked up at job at grooves, the record store. she was starting to think long term, so she figured she'd start saving up money /now/. it was easy enough. cashier. say hi, learn to work the register, wrap up the product -- and just hang out by herself, when no one was around. a good experience, to set her up.
☆ in fact, it was so good she grew to love it! she offered to close the store more often than not, and work late shifts. she liked to sit on the floor, and go through the records. use the jukebox to listen to them for free, because employee's benefit (not really, her manager wasn't aware, but she reckons he didn't care). she discovered a bunch of bands that way, and had a rerun of a few that her parents used to play in the living room when she was a kid.
☆ suffice to say, the money she'd been saving up ended up going to concert tickets. if she liked it enough, she just HAD to go and see them live! whenever they showed up in town, anyways. she wasn't invested enough to travel yet. but, when she was, she took rides with other in vans with people who were going to the same location as her.
☆ she graduated, and decided she was happy enough with her job -- happy enough to stay in it, and not pursue further education. she'd been there long enough for the manager to be fond of her, and allow her to get away with some stuff. that, and she wanted to devote herself to music. not participate in it, per se, but support those who did. live it. dance to it all night. if that were a career, she'd be employee of the month!
☆ her parents helped her with enough money to buy herself a tiny apartment, and bid her goodbye (it didn't feel like she was living there anymore, anyways, so not much changed). not too expensive, but not completely cheap. she was able to keep up with rent, and support her 2 cats (who started off hiding, but then were just accepted by the landlord because it'd been too long by the time he found them).
☆ she's known around the world of music just by how often you can find her in the audience, and backstage (she almost always has a pass around her neck). it's reached a point where she gets tickets for free, sometimes, and she's been seen numerous times in magazines just standing in the background chatting with band members. her flashy, glittery makeup, COLORFUL clothes (feather boas, mini skirts, platform boots, flowy dresses) & red hair don't allow her to go unnoticed -- but no one really knows who she is. she's been mentioned, at most, as 'a mystery groupie'.

jessica henwick & she/they & gender queer watch out , amity aubert has crash-landed into roswell !! they look twenty eight years old and celebrate their birthday on febuary 15th. they are from new york city, new york, reside in moonbeam gardens and are currently working as a travel columnist. one thing you should know about them is her parents are divorced so they grew up in both new york and paris, france.
trigger warnings for divorce, parental death
tldr; child of a ballerina and a choreographer, she's trying to find a place to settle down and maybe start a career in investigative journalism rather than a travel columnist.
BIOGRAPHY:
Ever since she was a little girl, Amity's mother Yingyue wanted to be a ballerina and her father, Dennis, a famous choreographer. From the moment that the two of them were young, they both began dancing, training day and night in order to make it to the top. Yingyue grew up in England with her family and eventually moved to Paris in order to attend a school in France, which turned out to be the same school that Dennis was attending for choreography. The two quickly bonded and eventually married right before graduating college. Though their marriage didn't last long as Yingyue eventually got her break and Dennis was a bit jealous of her success where he was failing. They got divorced after three and a half years of marriage, but gained a child in the process. And although the two didn't work out romantically, they both remained friends.
At the age of three, Dennis got a job in New York City for a broadway show, where he moved Amity, leaving her mother in Paris as she'd just gotten a role in a ballet. NYC was a very different culture than he was used to and Dennis struggled with being a single father in a new city. Though it didn't take long for him to find his stride with a group of other single working parents. There he met the man that would become his second partner, giving Amity another sibling in the process, Macy. Amity spent much of her childhood going back and forth between her parents. Holidays that were important were celebrated as a family, despite her parents not being together.
From a young age, Amity had a love of travelling. She had always enjoyed the freedom of seeing other places and getting to move new places. When she was in Paris and was old enough to, she would travel around Europe with friends or even her sister and at fourteen started her own travel blog. It wasn't very popular at first, but by the time she was in college, it had really taken off. Amity knew that travelling was probably something she wanted to do as an adult, so in college she ended up getting her degree in communications.
Amity's college years were filled with the normal ups and downs of becoming an adult. She took her education seriously and gained an appreciation for the opportunities that she had as a young child. For the most part, Amity did her best to stay on the path that she had chosen for herself. College is where she had her first boyfriend, then girlfriend, and then learned that she didn't really fit in with the gender norms either. They expanded their world view and appreciation for other cultures.
After college, Amity travelled for a bit, working with some large magazines and wrote some articles for a couple of well known travel websites, mostly doing freelance work. They enjoyed their job, loving the idea that they never had to spend more than a little bit of time in each location, seeing new things all the time. That life did become exhausting and eventually she wanted to settle down somewhere.
Last year her mother passed away and Amity was left with quite a large amount of inheritance. She used that to buy a house in Roswell of all places, finding it neat and wanting to maybe use that as a way to get into some more heavy hitting investigative journalism. They don't know where to start though because... well, they don't really believe all the alien hype and where the town got this whole gimmick to begin with.

Welcome to Aurora Bay, ALMA KHALIF! I couldn’t help but notice you look an awful lot like [ALISHA BOE]. You must be the TWENTY SIX year old SURF'S UP SURF SHOP ATTENDANT. Word is you’re GREGARIOUS but can also be a bit [VINDICTIVE] and your favorite song is PAINT THE TOWN RED BY DOJA CAT. I also heard you’ll be staying in OCEAN CREST APARTMENTS. I’m sure you’ll love it!
GENERAL DETAILS.

THE RUNDOWN.
Alma grew up in Aurora Bay, she’d never lived anywhere else in her life. A product of a loving family, they Kahlif family lived in their small apartment huddled in Ocean Crest. Her parents both being immigrants worked hard to give Alma and her sister what they needed in life, and a little more if possible. As a little girl she was close to her parents, but as she got older and reached  high school, Alma began to be more distant from her family unit. There were a lot of rumours around town about Alma Khalif around this time. Some were mild enough she could get a good laugh out of, but some were downright awful. And it wasn’t as if she did anything to deserve the cruelty, she spent most of her years being a well liked and popular kid amongst her peers. But it was one party, one night, and one whisper that blew everything out of proportion. He was tall, popular, with dark hair and a smile that stretched for miles, and Alma was smitten. And in the corner of the kitchen at house party, Alma realised the boy who she’d been flirting with for weeks had different expectations than she. He proposed sex, Alma denied him. Scared he’d react negatively, surprisingly, he walked away from her seemingly fine with her decision. But as time passed, a game of whispers passed between lips and ears, stretching across the party, changing and adjusting each time. By the time the story got back to Alma, she was mortified. This town must of been starved for entertainment, the judging glares followed her for weeks. Pushed out by most of her friend group, Alma found herself in the incredible position of having to convince her own best friends that she in fact did not sleep with all their boyfriends. The boy at the party was denied her body, so he casually destroyed her reputation. Caught between distraught and fury, Alma found herself becoming vindictive. The few friends that believed her and knew the whispers were only malicious whispers saw a change in their friend. If Alma was going to be called a man-eater and a home wrecker, she’d play into their view of her, and play the role to protect herself from the anger. If she couldn’t convincingly deny the narrative, she’d assume it in order to control it. High school passed and Alma became an adult, but the small town rumours of the ‘vixen’ followed her. Still covered by the protective hardened sleeve, Alma conceded that the softer version of her was destroyed. However with those who didn’t show judgement, Alma would be their life of the party, holding onto whatever validation she can. Her sister suggested finding a fresh start in a new town would help her, but Alma refuses to leave her family behind, despite how stuck she may feel in town.  Despite the changes in her life, Alma’s love for surfing and the ocean remained, the only place she’d find peace. When not catching waves, she’d be found at her job at Surfs Up.

The Things They Carried
We were kids coming from a small town. Everyone knows everything about each other whether we like it or not. Our group is a mess but all popular kids are a mess. We all have secrets that we never share with each other or else it would spread around town like a disease. Delilah is the sweet, clever, and pretty girl of the group. We call her the mom of the group, Ricky is athletic, basically the jock of the group, he tends to be very social with everyone around him. Erick is geeky but overall a good guy that I had once dated when we were middle schoolers. Being friends for years we know more about each other than our own parents knew. Delilah, my best friend, was the one everyone could count on. She would wear a necklace around her neck wherever she would go. No one besides the group knew why. Her grandmother, bless her soul, was killed right in front of her. Her last words to her were, “ I’m always with you” and taking the necklace off and handing it to her. Ever since that day she always made sure to text the group chat to make sure we were safe at all times. Ricky, the strong and careless as everyone would say but sadly there’s more to him than anyone knows. Ricky carries a 5inc blade at all times, some say he's crazy and is a serial killer but they don’t know anything about him. When he was 5 years old, he was raped by a guy that was living in the neighborhood and he ended up kidnapping him. They never found out who it was. His family decided to keep it to themselves and not have the town know about the rapist. He doesn’t want it to happen again and now he’s not a child so he’s able to defend himself against anyone that tries to hurt him or anyone else. Erick always carries an inhaler in his bag or pocket wherever he goes it goes with him. Once when he was running a mile for P.E. his lungs gave up and he didn't have his inhaler with him. To this day he is still very much traumatized which is why he always has it on him. Me, what about me? My love for Erick was strong and loyal. For our 1 year anniversary, he gifted me a beautiful ring with our initials on it. The day he gave it to me I swore I would never take it off because my love for him was eternal. I knew we were kids but we're young adults and my love for him had grown bigger and stronger than it has before. Some may say my ring is childish and I should take it off but to me it means everything. My friends know me deeply just like I know them. Our secrets are exclusive to one another. Some may not understand what we have gone through and why we carry such things but towards the end we only have each other to lean on. We may get judged by these objects but to one another we know the meaning. The meaning of why a strange group of people gets along so well. All of us are a bunch of young adults still scared of what the world has in store for us. Delilah, Ricky, and my dear Erick we may be childish and scared of what may come next but I know we will stay true to each other because at the end of the day we know secrets that can be easily spread around town and that is something that will ruin us for eternity.

Some antagonists to Eileen and her family, a homophobic conservative family consisting of Lynn Gorman, her husband Greg Gorman and their two sons Carl (the overweight one) and Buck (the skinny one) and a daughter named Crystal.
Lynn and Greg were a couple in high school and got married right after and had kids and became miserable and bitter ever since. Greg works as a construction worker and when he's not working he's at home sitting on the couch all day watching either sports or conservative "news" stations like Fox News while drinking beer. He's generally lazy and apathetic but can get heated when talking about political topics. When he was younger he had an immature "class clown" type of attitude and end up becoming more and more miserable and cynical as he settled into domestic life. He and Lynn resent each other now and should divorce but for whatever reason they haven't.
Lynn was a gossipy mean girl in high school and ended up never really growing out of it. She has a friend group of other stuck-up, gossiping moms who were also former high school mean girls. Lynn is very vain and has had plastic surgery to try and stay youthful (I tried making it look like she had Botox, don't know if I succeeded). Whenever she's out in town and runs into Eileen and her family, she rants to them about how they're disgusting sinners and are going to Hell (Eileen doesn't deal well with conflict due to being shy and on the Autism spectrum so Cleo's the one who defends them both and rants back at Lynn), and she despises how Eileen and Cleo are raising children in such a "sinful environment" (ironically Eileen and Cleo have a happy, loving marriage and are wonderful and loving mothers, basically the opposite of Lynn) and despises how Eileen and Cleo are eternally youthful and wealthy.
Carl is a 22 year old lazy shut-in who stays in his room all day on his computer either gaming or using 4chan or some other edgy shit. He's basically the type of guy who posts racist/sexist/homophobic crap then when he gets called out for it he just tells everyone they're being sensitive and starts ranting about cancel culture and wokeness or whatever. Outside of the internet he considers his life miserable since he grew up with parents who hated each other and still hate each other so he decides to take it out on random people on the internet so he can feel superior. He's also an incel and a misogynist.
Crystal is a Instagram influencer who is vain and self-centered like her mom (she also has had plastic surgery by getting lip fillers), and went on to become a mean girl in school as well. She's just as bigoted as the rest of her family and has internalized misogyny and is always bullying and putting down other girls at her school (basically she's Regina George but worse). She has a clique of other wannabe influencer mean girls and they all pretend they're friends but in reality they're too bitter and unpleasant to properly form friendships, they just stick together to be in the "popular crowd".
Finally, Buck is the oldest and is obsessed with guns and spends his free time doing target practice with them. Just like his brother he's also a racist/sexist/homophobic troll on the internet and also loves picking fights with people physically (unlike his brother who is too lazy to physically fight anyone due to sitting at his computer all day eating Cheetos). Buck has always been a loner and has a genuinely unhinged personality and serial killer vibes (he hasn't killed anyone but has been arrested for being in fights). When he was in high school (he's in his 20s now) everyone stayed away from him because he scared everyone and had an unpredictable temper. Whenever he got in trouble his mom instead put the blame on whoever his victim was for "getting her poor innocent boy in trouble". Yeah Lynn basically enables him and refuses to believe he's capable of violence.
So yeah, not great people. Obviously Eileen and her family avoid them whenever possible.

Part 1 of 2 Fun and Games
The toll of the large clock atop of city hall bellowed over the town of Dawnburgh, alerting the arrival of twelve noon. The streets were bustling with folks of various species going on about their day. Either heading to their work places, grabbing lunch and tea, or simply just out enjoying the day. Today, in fact, a carnival had just been set up within the city and would stay until the end of the week. It was an annual event that happened in the Spring.
Out by the town square, Ben was playing with a few other friends of his. A slightly taller donkey boy named Jeremy, an alligator boy named Sam, and a boar girl named Doris. Both split into paired teams as they played kick ball while using turned over empty trash bins as goals.
The bear boy kicks the ball over to Sam who then uses his tail to hit the ball over into the opponents can. With a loud metal clang, he scored the winning point for the game to which the gator boy cheers it up with two victorious fists into the air and loud hoots along with his teammate Ben.
"Hey you cheated!" Doris cried out angrily as she walked over to the two boys .. "What!? No I didn't!" Sam retorted "Yeah you did! You kick with your feet not with your tail" Jeremy chimed in as he walked over as well. To which Sam simply just waved them both off dismissively. "Aww same difference ... They're both on the ground, aren't they?"
As the four older kids played/argued over their game, Lucy was sitting in an old wagon just off to the side of the street. Her doll draped lazily over the side as she played around with some colorful picture cards and marbles. Humming happily to herself as she did so. Behind her was a small crate filled with water balloons that had been made the day before.
Once the bickering had died down somewhat, Ben jogs over to the wagon. "Hey Luc! .. Ya ready to start heading out? .. We're gonna go check out the carnival" he informs, resting his arms on the edge of the wagon.
"I wanna go to Zukaros!" the little doe cheerily replied after turning her attention to her friend. To which the bear boy raises his brow, perplexed.
"What? .. Why? ..We were just there like .. two days ago .... It's not like they've got somethin' new or anything" Ben responded back, not quite expecting this.
"They're gonna have a new ice cream today!" Lucy continued, bouncing a bit were she sat, now holding her doll in her lap. It's limbs flopping madly.
"What!? .. No they don't .. They've never made ice cream before, you know that" Sam interjects as he came up to the wagon as well "Yeah! .. And even if they did, we would've totally heard about it by now" Doris adds in, hands on her hips. Though, despite the neigh sayers among the group, the little deer girl was not deterred by any of it. She simply smiles brightly before calling out the name of the most popular candy shop in town once more.
"Ugh, fine! .. But only for like five minutes, then we're off to the carnival, ok? .... Besides, we'll be able to pass it on the way there anyway" Ben finally agrees with mild exasperation.
"Yeah! .. They're gonna have clowns! .. An' ya know what that means .... Pummelin' time with these babies" the donkey lad says as he takes out a water balloon from the wagon and shows it off. Each filled with food coloring.
"An' once we're done, they'll look like some mucked up painting a five year old made" he added with a big, mischievous grin.
"I don't paint like that!" Lucy pouts as she glares at him, clearly offended.
Grabbing the pull handle of the wagon, the bear boy begins to break off into a run with Lucy riding inside it. The little doe giggling the whole time as she told her older friend which ways to turn, heading towards the large candy store she wanted to visit ... again. Ben's other three friends ran alongside. All of them eager to visit the carnival after and try out the rides and food they'll see over there.
It's not too long before they reach Zukaro's Chocolate Emporium. The warm and sweet smells of the candy from within always wafted around a radius of several blocks. It wasn't necessary to use a map to find the place, when you could just use your nose. It wasn't until they made it to the front of the shop that they noticed a couple of new posters placed on the windows out front. The posters showed a cup filled with small, vibrantly-hued round balls of ice cream surrounded by a cold nitrogen mist. New Frozen Rainboubles, available now.
The four older kids could only stare dumbfounded at the advertisements in disbelief.
"Huh?! ... Woah, no way! .... How did you know about those, Lucy?" Sam the alligator boy inquires to the deer girl.
Lucy simply shrugs, "I dunno! .. I just did" before pretending to make her doll play with her cards. This wasn't the first time the little doe had shown this odd little quirk of hers. In fact, she doesn't seem to be that aware of it at all. She most likely just thinks that this was normal since it was something that she was able to do for quite a long while. A sixth sense perhaps?
As the four older children pondered over what they wanted to do first, they eventually decided to go see the carnival first. They promised Lucy that they would come back to try the ice cream once they were done with their initial plans for the day.
Festival music could be heard floating through the air, as well as the chatter and laughter of guests visiting the carnival scene. It consisted mostly of stands containing random games like darts, dunk booths, and shooting (pellet guns, of course) and various types of food and treat vendors. A balloon seller was stationed close to the entrance, while a small band playing brass and string instruments kept the surrounding atmosphere lively and merry. There were also machines that tested one's strength with a large mallet and a ride that resembled flying chairs going in a circle in midair.
Once they had gone inside, the youngsters decided to head over to a go-cart track. On the way there, they go by the entrance to a funhouse .. And as they passed, Ben made a double take and stopped for a moment. The entrance looked oddly familiar, but had a slightly different shade of purple. The entrance was designed to look like the maw of a large dragon-like creature ... opened wide enough to walk into and showing off large, white fangs along the path that led inside. The bear cub stares up at it thoughtfully before breaking out of his thoughts at the sound of two of his friends behind him.
"Hey Dorkis, look! ... We finally found something that's gotta bigger mouth than you!" Jeremy guffaws, tugging comically on his long ears as he teased the boar girl.
"Shut up, Jeremy!!" Doris yells out before chasing the donkey boy, earning an eye roll from Ben as he turned to look at the dragon once more. About a minute later, a painful yelp could be heard from Jeremy somewhere off to the side.
"You alright, Ben? .. What'cha lookin' at?" Sam the gator boy inquires as he walks over to him.
"Oh ah, yeah, I'm good .. It just that this .. kinda .. reminds me of something, that's all" Ben replied. At that, Sam quirks a confused brow towards the bear cub before looking up at the dragon's mouth as well.
"Really? ... Reminds you o' what?" the gator boy questions back in a puzzled tone.
"W..Well, I mean ..." Ben awkwardly scratched the back of his head as he quickly tried to think of what to say that wasn't exactly the truth. But before he could say anything else, Ben and Sam were suddenly hit with a stray water balloon.
"Hey! ..Watch it! .. We weren't even playin'' Ben and Sam call out to Jeremy and Doris, who were now continuing their fight with the balloons. The two splattered with different colors from the water dye.
"Alright! ... Ya'll are gettin' mucked up now" the gator boy threatens as he briskly goes over to them.
As the water balloon fight commenced, Lucy was casually playing around with her doll, which unintentionally taps one of the marbles. As it casually rolled, it rests on top of a card that had a dark caped character on it. Seeing this, the little doe immediately pips up with an "uh oh".
Doris and Jeremy kept at it with the water balloons, along with Ben and Sam as well. All of them laughing and enjoying themselves immensely as they pelted each other .. That is, until one is accidently tossed way past any of them and hits a tall stranger several feet away. A smack and low grunt was heard right after.
It wasn't until they turned towards the sound near a dimly lit corner of the fair grounds that the children would see the tall figure. At the sudden unexpected sight, the kids immediately froze where they stood, all dripping wet and splotched in rainbow hues. The figure took a few steps toward the young group and into the light, revealing the face of an old badger dressed in a fine suit, cape, and top hat. He was casually wiping the water and rubber bits off his garb from the minor assault. His expressionless, unimpressed demeanor would then slowly form into a cordial smile.
"Well hello children! .. Having a bit of fun are we?"
His voice wasn't quite sinister .. nor was it exactly comforting, either.
The intimidating and unexpected presence brought forth by the stranger was enough to make Ben's three friends take a couple steps back. Clearly nervous around the tall badger, Jeremy gulps before finally running off, followed closely behind by Sam and Doris. Each of them stammering as they mentioned about how they needed to go. A couple of them slipped and skidded as they made a quick retreat and disappeared into the crowd. Leaving Ben and Lucy behind.
Getting a bad vibe as well, Ben tries to take the wagon with Lucy and leave.
"Y..Yeah, we've gotta go too" the bear boy informed, not wanting to seem rude before beginning to tug on the wagon lead. He barely made a few steps before he was spoken to by the old badger man.
"Home? .. Why you two are from the orphanage, are you not? ... Well, at least that's what I assume judging by your clothes" he coolly observed, taking a step or two closer to the cub.
"Ahh .. Then, you must be .. Benjamin ... Am I correct?"
Ben was clearly taken aback after hearing this man say his name. He had never met nor even seen him before. "H..How did you know my name?" he asked the old badger man. He began to feel even more wary of this stranger, though he was trying his best not to show it.
"Well it's my job, my boy ... I happen to work very closely with the orphanage to make sure such promising youths like yourselves are taken care of" he tells Ben before giving a few pats on his hatted head. The stranger than notices the little deer girl in the wagon and turns his attention to her. Lowering himself enough to meet her at eye level.
"And you must be little Lucy! .. Hello, my dear" he greets with a slightly toothy grin.
Lucy looks up at him, hugging her doll close ... obviously feeling very wary and nervous at the moment.
The badger man was about to say something else when another voice would suddenly ring in. Kitt had just appeared. She had been taking some advantage of the festivities when she noticed her young friends talking to someone. Curious .. as well as being protective .. the felinoid comes over to check on things.
"Are you two alright?" the cat woman inquires the two kids. Using a tone that let the stranger know that she was with them and not alone. Lucy was very happy to see her and even said her name out loud just as the badger man straightens himself back up. His attention now fully on Kitt.
Looking over at the stranger now, her wintergreen eyes blink and widen in mild surprise as she immediately recognizes him.
"Judge Mason .. Good evenin' ... I .. apologize if the kids were giving you a bit of trouble" she greets the older gentlemen. Her tone then quickly changes into a much more polite one.
