Note
can i request reader x hermits (seperate) ? like reader has a bunch of old scars and on a hot day they wear a tank top and expose all of their scars? completely okay if not AND TAKE CARE OF URSELF🫶
Okay, let me tell you, as someone with quite a visible scar on my face (I was a very courageous and dumb kid) and a few less visible ones on my hand, I get asked about it so so often and this request hits hard and I have decided to put my whole soul into it as headcanons. I've just picked a couple hermits I feel would have different reactions to it so here u go!
HEADCANON:
Grian
This boy is not going to mention it, like, at all
He has his own bad memories and sad backstory so he understands that you might not want to talk about it
The only reason he would ever talk about it would be if you ever showed any discomfort or insecurity about it
If you just never talked about it he wouldn’t either
Maybe at some point he would reassure you about yourself if you’re both deep in a relationship, but he would never explicitly mention the scars
If you do mention them at all, it depends on how you approach it
He knows how to tell situations very well and I think he would still be careful about it
If you approach it humorously, like it doesn’t affect you then he will too
Maybe ask you where some of the bigger ones are from and expect you to tell him some good stories
If you get uncomfortable about them, or insecure he will reassure you
“I love you no matter what” or “I think they make you look cool”
He will always be supportive
Mumbo
He does try his best, but the moment he sees you he can’t help it
Shock on his face as he clearly looks you over
It’s clear he is concerned, and if you’re alone he will ask you about it
Stuff like if you’re okay, if you ever want to talk about it or if you need anything
If you reassure him you’re fine, he will totally dote on you after he is done being shocked
Will kiss your exposed scars and talk about how pretty or handsome you are to him
He will totally try to spend extra time with you, both because he learned a new thing about you that makes him love you even more but also because he is secretly making sure you’re totally okay
Even if you say you are, he would rather make sure
He will keep a little bit of a closer eye on everything you do and every little emotion you display just to keep himself sure you’re really okay
Either way he loves you how you are
Scar
This fool, this dumbass man
He cannot keep his mouth shut at all
He thinks communication is so much easier and better than having to just bottle things up or keep guessing what everyone else is thinking
So he just mentions it, asks where they’re from if you’re okay with him asking
He tries to guess it, if you’re not
The guesses will start out super detailed stories that are so far fetched as to ease you into it
“So this one is obviously from a wolf attack, where you managed to fight off 3 wolfs the size of the moon with nothing but your bare hands”
Then he will slowly try to reel it in and guess them more accurately
If one is sort of a piercing one, he will say you lost a duel in a bow fight
The one on your arm? That one is a cut from training your sword skills
He is just spitballing, trying to get it right
Either way he will pester you until you open up to him, he will not let it go
He thinks it’s so cool and really makes you look tough
Will ask you to protect him since you’re so strong
Will also definitely trace your scars whenever you are idle and he has the chance to
Even if you ask him not to, it just happens and he will laugh it off
He starts to slowly like them, the more he sees them
Every rare moment you show them, he slowly appreciates them more and more
Really weird but he has favorites
He just loves them to be honest
It makes you so uniquely you
Etho
No matter what he will start out by making some sort of snarky little comment
“Did you fight your kitchen drawer and lose or something?”
It’s not mean spirited at all, it’s supposed to be humorous
He just likes to approach things with lightheartedness and jokes
He knows it might be a serious topic, but his objective is always to turn it into something fun or less serious to try and make you feel better about it
He won’t dote on you or reassure you like the others unless you open up about it
That doesn’t mean he doesn’t love you the way you are, his love is just more subtle like that
It’s small things you wouldn’t immediately notice about his reaction to it
Sometimes he will look at one of them and imagine the pain or maybe even accidentally imagine the person who might have given it to you
It’ll make him look at them with hatred, but it’s not directed at you even if it would seem that way
He’d make up little fantasies of revenge in his head to clear the thoughts
At this point you might even be the one who will have to reassure him that it’s no problem anymore, if it ever even was
Bdubs
He will instantly be all over you, and no matter your approach he will be excited
Unless you just start straight up crying he won’t notice if you’re sad or insecure about them cause he is just so excited about seeing a different part of you
He’s the same as Scar where he wants to know where every little scar comes from
If it’s serious he will of course reassure you, but he will definitely also compliment them no matter what
He just think they suit you, and in the end Bdubs is sort of just a hopeless romantic
Anything that is a part of you, he loves it
Anything that is you is beautiful
Which in turn makes your scars beautiful too
He feels closer to you, looking at them because in the end it tells your story and your past, making him feel like he is closer to it
It’s something he’s probably been sad about before, that not every inch of your life is tied together, that there are parts of you that he can’t be a part of which is before you met
But seeing the scars can help him understand that part, and sort of relate to you in a way that he finds very intimate
So of course he will pester you about them any given time they are on display
He does love them, just as much as he loves you
Pearl
She’s definitely the most careful out of all of them, at least out of the ones who want to approach the topic at all
As much as she is a rambunctious personality she is also an extremely caring thoughtful individual
And as much as she doesn’t want to overstep her boundaries she also has to know you’re okay
So she approaches it very head on, but she picks her words very carefully
“I don’t know if you ever want to talk about it, but I’m willing to listen if you ever want to tell me anything about your scars.”
That’s all she ever says about it, and at that point it’s up to you to go to her about it
She wants to be as respectable to you about it as possible
She has the mindset that she doesn’t need to know if you don’t want her to know
As long as she’s sure you’re okay now, your past doesn’t matter to her
For what she thinks about them look wise, she does think they suit you
It’s not going to change how she thinks about you, knowing you have a few scars
And she has a couple herself so it doesn’t really matter
She still loves you
Tango
Tango is probably the one with the roughest reaction
He is pretty emotionally driven, and just seeing something like that on you genuinely breaks his heart
It’s almost like he is going through the pain you went through with every single scar at once
He’s almost just,,, getting teary eyed seeing you and you might get confused at the looks he is giving you as you see each other
You probably won’t understand exactly what is going on with him and he simply takes your hands in his and he stares at you before embracing you in a warm hug
He wants you to feel physically that he is there for you
“Where are these all from?”
You cannot get out of a heart to heart with this man, and even if it’s all from totally normal and uneventful encounters he still thinks it’s very serious
Even if it was not traumatic like, at all, just you at some point being in pain is awful to him
Just the few times you’ve gotten hurt while on the server with him has been awful for him so to know you’ve gone through pain that’s left scars is unbearable
He doesn’t like your scars, hands down I will just say it
He hates having a constant reminder that you experience pain because he wants nothing but happiness for you
Obviously it’s delusional to think you’d never experience anything bad, he knows that, but he still wants that to be the case so bad and having to see it every time just sucks for him
That’s not to say he doesn’t think you’re still beautiful, he does, he thinks you’re amazing
But he does just wish you’d never have to go through that
Xisuma
Oh boy
His first thought, and I am sorry to admit this, would be how hot that is
He loves that type of thing, he can’t help it
This guy loves a man/woman with a story to tell, and scars to show
BUT that does not mean that the next thought isn’t slight worry
He’s been through it all, considering he is experienced with every kind of server and an admin who has had to consider all kinds of walks of life and he knows what some servers are like
That in itself has lead to him being very observant and mindful, and he also knows exactly how to handle it no matter what
He won’t ask, he will wait for you to come to him, if need be
If you do explain them, he will take it from there. Sad? He’s got just the right words to assure you that you’re both safe and that it changes nothing in his opinion of you (It does.. He finds it so hot)
Happy and uncaring? He is making the best jokes you’ve ever heard about it
There is no losing with this blessing of a man

Alright, alright. Hear me out. There is not enough boatem x reader on tumblr, so can we get a fic set in the SoB universe, like, a cute date night with all the babys? Or even like, a moment during season nine where boatem has to reassure the reader that they'll still love them even if they don't live in a big group anymore?
To make a wrong right

Pairing: Boatem X Reader
Summary: In which your preparation for a date is misinterpreted.
Genre: Hurt/Comfort
Extra notes: ooooooo- MY BABIES!!!! I so missed writing for them!!! Enjoy!

Season Nine was exhilarating for you.
Starting off the season with Your partners (That felt wonderful to say, even after three months in the void) and making a few small bases around Spawn that held you five together, often coming together in your home since Grian was already almost always there and so were you.
But soon, the blissfulness of spawn faded, and soon blueprints began to form.
This season? You were a God
Your wings grew large, even without the elytra, and your eyes burned so white you had to wear a white wrap around them to prevent you from hurting your lovers.
Even so, they loved you more and more, and you loved all the more.
This season you chose snowy mountains to build on. High in the clouds to create a Greek city with pantheons for each of the twelve main gods and goddesses, with the biggest one in the middle for you.
It was a project of size you had never done before, but nonetheless, you were excited. Not everyone could say they built a city in the clouds.
unfortunately, with huge projects comes huge consequences.
Like not being able to spend time with your lovers.
They and you still visited each other, but now the task was tedious. You lived far from your partners, and it hurt your heart not to see them as much as you used to, but you knew that once you finished the inside of this build, you would bring them up as soon as possible and make sure they had their fill of time together.
However...That would be a long time from now...
The Boatem crew met without their angel in Grian's base. It had been a few months since they'd seen you and Mumbo had just got back from his hibernation.
"They aren't here..." Mumbo said and slumped down
"Yeah..." Pearl hummed and looked out, worried. "Do you think they are okay?"
"I'm sure they're fine," Impulse spoke up and pulled Pearl into his lap before pressing small kisses to her face "They've been really absorbed into that base of theirs. Barely listened to me when I invited them."
There was a moment of silence before Scar spoke up and asked, "Do you think... Do you think they may not love us anymore?"
The silence thickened so much that they couldn't breathe.
"Don't say that-" Grian said, voice hoarse and thick with tears "No- Y/n is just busy. We all know how she gets when it comes to their builds and we know why."
"Agreed..." Mumbo trailed off
Still, Scar's question echoed through their heads even as they cheered up and continued with Mumbo's welcome home party.
So that night, as they were all curled into each other, attempting to sleep, Grian asked "Do... Do you really think that would be the case?"
"Could it possibly have happened because we're so far from them?" Pearl whispered
"No, It couldn't be..." Impulse trailed off. "Could it?"
The group felt the doubt sink in, and it was suffocating.
Meanwhile, You were curled up in your own bed outside, shivering underneath the thin blanket and beautiful start that seemed to be taunting you.
You were cold and alone and missing your partners so deeply.
It killed you to be so far away from them, and today Mumbo had come home, and you weren't there.
You had realized it far too late to show up for the party the boatem crew had organized, and you felt horrible for leaving your partners high and dry...
Just like you have for the last past few months...
Your heart ached at the thought of them without you, but it's not like you could complain... you did this to yourself.
Still, it broke your heart to be away from the people you love oh so much.
The reason you were rushing this build as fast as possible.
And next week, it will be worth it.
All you had to finish was the roof and the interiors, and you would be done.
And with those final touches, you could finally prepare for something you wanted to do all season.
Propose.
And you needed it to be perfect. The Pantheon needed to be finished and the rooms decorated, but soon you would marry the people who made you feel whole again.
A week later, Grian walked out of his base to find a chest filled with flowers and a letter.
Dear Grian,
Come to my Megabase at 8 pm
I have something I would love to talk to you and the rest of Boatem about.
Y/n's Harmony
He re-read the thing multiple times before he looked up at Mumbo, who had just come out of his own base a few minutes ago in horror
It seemed as if they were thinking the same thing
"ARE YOU BREAKING UP WITH US?" Pearl cried as you stepped out of their base to see the woman looking up at you
"What-?" You asked softly before the four men asked and looked desperately for Pearl until they saw her crying and froze
"Oh, my love," You cooed, kneeling down to her level and wrapping an arm around her waist to hold her close, "Whatever made you think that?"
But despite Pearl's sniffling, the silence was deafening, and You felt guilt absolutely crush your heart.
"Did-" You looked up with horror in your eyes. "Did all of you think that?"
There were hesitant nods, and tears filled your eyes
"We thought," Scar started softly, "We thought you didn't love us anymore, and we figured it was because we didn't live as close as we used to."
"Oh, My sweet Vex," You whispered to Scar before looking at her lovers and softly saying, "My sweet Symphony, There will never be any reason for me to stop loving you. Not even death will allow me to stop loving you, for you are engraved in my soul, embedded into my heart and you are my sole reason for living."
You open your free arm, and the other members come rushing in
You basked in their warmth, in their love. You smother them in small kisses and whisper apologies. You begged for their forgiveness for ever making them feel that way. For daring even to make them think you didn't love them.
Once they calmed down and moved into the living room of your home, they noticed it was fully finished.
"When did you-" Impulse asked
"Just before you all got here." You answered, "I was supposed to be more dressed up and clean, but you all came early."
"Dressed up?" Mumbo asked, "For what?"
Thats when you got embarrassed.
"Well, first off, I was supposed to serenade you as you all came in," You admitted. "Then I was going to show you the awesome dinner I made, and then I had a surprise for you all."
"A surprise?" Grian asked, and you flushed
the rings you had planned to propose with are in your room, you had planned to stuff them in the kitchen after you cleaned up but you didn't have time to...
welp-
there was no time like the present.
"Give me a second." You said and squirmed out of the cuddle pile before heading to your room and grabbing the five boxes with each of their respective boxes
Taking a deep breath, you walked out of your room and called to your lovers
"Close your eyes for me?"
There was a confused flurry of agreements, and you peeked out t see all f them had closed their eyes. You walked out with light steps and grabbed their hand as you gently placed each of their velvet boxes in them.
Red for Grian
Yellow for Impulse
Dark Blue for Pearl
Black for Mumbo
and A light copper green for Scar.
Each colored box had a ring that matched them. Their signature color and personality in a ring you had made for them.
So now, on one knee you cleared their throat and said "Open your eyes and the box."
There were soft gasps, and you gave a soft smile. "My plan fell through quite a bit, but Overall, I'm glad I still had a chance to do this. So I ask the question, Will you marry me?"
There was deafening silence before you were suddenly tackled by Impulse, who pressed kisses all over your face, beard scratching your skin as he nuzzled into you and whispered a million yeses
"I, personally, would love to marry you, Y/n." Impulse said and pressed a long slow kiss to your lips that took your breath away
With those words, it seems that it snapped whatever spell was on the rest of Boatem, and they all attacked you with hugs, Tears, and kisses with various versions of the same word
Yes
Your heart swelled as tears welled in your eyes as you kissed them back. Making sure they felt the love in your touch, you wanted to worship them like they had worshipped you early on in their relationship.
The laughs and smiles of your partners were a beautiful symphony to your ears.
You loved your partners, and you were now able to spend the rest of your days with them. How wonderful.

GIMME SUGAR!
۫  ּ   ִֶָ  ࣪✦ PAIRING \ C!Grian x GN!Reader, C!Xisumavoid x GN!Reader
۫  ּ   ִֶָ  ࣪✦ SYNOPSIS \ How a few of our favorite block men would make your Valentine’s Day special.
۫  ּ   ִֶָ  ࣪✦ WARNINGS \ N/A
۫  ּ   ִֶָ  ࣪✦ A/N \ I know, I know- I’ve been MIA for a while. However! I have cooked up something short, sweet, and extra fluffy for Valentine’s day, so I hope you all enjoy this rare treat! (I may or may not be dying, but it’s fine :])

GRIAN
Grian doesn’t do anything in half measures, and Valentine’s Day is no exception.
Dresses up so fancy for you.
I’m talking button-up shirt with the cashmere vest, heart-shaped glasses, and the shiniest accessories a pesky bird can get his hands on.
First thing in the morning, he’s knocking on your door- or, if that doesn’t work, your bedroom window- with a basket full of your favorite treats and his very biggest smile :)
It doesn’t matter if you’re a morning person or not, he is determined to spend as much time with you as physically possible; what else would he be doing? Finishing his base, like a loser?
Think: Grian bundling you tight to his chest as he takes you on a sunset flight, weaving through the sky just to laugh at you when you shriek, and feel his heart beat harder in his chest when you smile at him in that half-exasperated half-fond way.
Think: Grian doing anything to earn a smile, from reciting the cheesiest pick-up lines he can think of to blasting your favorite music and singing along with you.
Think: Grian dropping you off at your base, only for you to pull him into a long, slow kiss. When the two of you part, he’s bright red and grinning like an idiot.
He’s your idiot, though, and don’t you forget it.
Tumblr media
XISUMAVOID
As the server admin, Xisuma is very busy, but he always makes time for you.
He picks you up from your latest project at dusk, his armor polished and elytra gleaming in the waking starlight; every inch a knight straight from the pages of a fairy-tale.
Xisuma greets you like one, too, pressing a featherlight kiss to your palm before he sweeps you away with a flicker of code.
Valentine’s Day is a moment where everything pauses, for the both of you. There are no obligations, no worries, nothing beyond the two of you.
Together.
Think: Xisuma tangling his legs with yours under the dinner table, attentive even though you’ve been talking for thirty minutes, and the food he’d prepared for you long gone.
Think: Xisuma allowing you to play with his hair as you make your way through a rom-com marathon, dryly critiquing the plots and characters until you’re a giggly mess.
Think: Xisuma watching you slowly fall asleep in his arms, still as a statue even though his legs have fallen asleep and you’re drooling a little bit onto his shirt.
He’ll take his time, if it’s for you.

In the Lab
You love your boyfriend’s passion for science, but even geniuses need sleep.
Docm77 x Reader
Fandom: Hermitcraft
Format: Oneshot (1031 words)
Warnings: Tooth rotting fluff
Genderneutral Reader
Hermitcraft Masterlist Commission Info
Doc's lab was constantly lit up with a soft glow. From the redstone that lit up with every touch to new inventions still scattered around the room, something was always giving off light. It lent the lab a certain atmosphere and you were sure that the glow called to him, pulling him back to his work every chance he got.
More than anywhere else, the lab was truly his space. Surrounded by ideas and inspiration, he seemed to come alive with all the potential at his fingertips. Watching him work was always incredible. Not long after you two had started dating, a comfy armchair had found its own place in the lab, a space for you to sit and read while he worked. Existing in the same space brought the both of you a lovely sort of peace, even if you never got farther than a few chapters before finding yourself distracted by him.
To see him in his lab was to see him in his element.
So it came as no surprise to you when you woke up late at night and the space beside you was empty. It wasn't the first time he had disappeared into his lab after you'd fallen asleep and you knew it wouldn't be the last. His passion for his work was one of the many reasons you adored him. Although the line between a good work ethic and being a workaholic had been crossed long ago. You’d known him to completely forget about meals when he was too caught up in a project, skipping out on sleep was nothing to him.
With a glance at the clock, you knew that it was far too late for him to be up working if he wanted to be any sort of productive tomorrow. And falling asleep without him felt like a monumental task. So you pulled yourself out of bed, ambling towards the lab with a blanket wrapped around your shoulders. You could already hear the familiar sounds of a piston firing and the steady click of a repeater. Sounds you could associate with your lover nearly as much as his own voice.
Yawning in the doorway, you allowed yourself a moment to appreciate the sight in front of you. Doc, leaning over his workbench, his hands dusted in redstone. The wires on his metal arm sparked as they were prone to when overcharged, he always forgot to keep redstone dust from slipping into it. You giggled softly at the figure he cut in his sleeveless lab coat as if it protected him from anything in the lab. You knew its only purpose was for style, no matter how he tried to insist otherwise.
The lights of the lab made him look magic. The curling horns on his head left sharp shadows across his face but were dappled in red light. He gave off his own glow, both from his metal enhancements and the shining dust all over him. Just one more reason that he seemed so much a part of this lab. He was marvelous, just as impressive as the incredible inventions he created.
Evidently, he’d heard your laugh. He snapped up, nearly hitting his horns on the light that he’d pulled over the workbench.
“Eh? Schatz? What are you doing awake?” His accent always got thicker when he was tired and as sleepy as you were as well, it was tempting to just melt into his voice.
“I could ask you the same thing, honey,” You replied, shuffling closer to him once you were sure the invention in front of him wasn’t obviously dangerous. He pulled you into his arms when you were close enough and you were reminded of how terribly warm he always was.
“I woke up with some inspiration, I couldn’t just let it slip away.”
“Mhm? And have you turned your ideas into reality?” Leaning into his embrace, you could close your eyes and trust him to support you.
“Just about. I’ve gotten the first draft all together which is the biggest part of it. It needs some reworks though.”
“And can that be left to the morning?”
He chuckled, and you could feel his laugh rumble through his chest. “Ah, you’re trying to pull me back to bed, schatz?”
“It’s late, you need sleep and the bed’s so cold without you.” Your voice was slightly muffled by the way you were leaning into him but you were too tired to move.
“I just need another ten minutes, alright? Then I’ll come right to bed.” You knew he wasn’t intending to lie to you, but you also knew that in the lab, ten minutes could very easily turn into an hour. If you went back to bed, he’d be distracted by his work once again and lose all track of time.
“Can I sit in here until you’re done then?” You asked.
“Are you sure you don’t want to get some rest? I’d love to have you here but you look tired, liebling.”
You shake your head and press a kiss to his cheek. Your eyes were still closed, half asleep already, but you can feel his hand gently turn your face so he can kiss you properly. It was soft and sweet, melting your heart as he always did. After pulling back, he guided you over to your chair, ensuring you were comfortable before planting a kiss on your forehead and returning to his work.
You meant to stay awake, but it wasn’t long before you slipped into unconsciousness.
When you woke up next, you were in Doc’s arms as he pushed open your bedroom door.
“Baby?”
“Oh, did I wake you?” Doc asked, setting you down on the bed. “I didn’t mean to, I’m sorry.”
You pulled him into bed with you, shaking your head at his apology. He didn’t need to be sorry, you just wanted him cuddling with you. You could hear the smile in his voice as he wished you a good night, letting you pull him into your arms and getting comfortable.
“Sleep well, schatz, I love you.”
And with your lover held close, everything was at peace and you fell blissfully back asleep.

Tumblr media
Mornings and getting up were a touchy subject in your relationship with Bdubs. Especially in the beginning, you could hardly spend a night together without starting the morning with moans and complaints about the early hours, because while you loved to stay between the sheets and start the day slowly at noon, your partner was quite different. Even before the sun stretched its warm rays through the windows of the monolith, Bdubs was up and out, preferring to stand in the still dew-covered grass as early as possible and continue his work on his latest project.
It was hard for the builder to get used to a new routine, he was used to being able to plan his own day and not having to follow someone else's schedule, but now not only was he sleeping in his bed, but he was sharing it with you. After you got together, you were hesitant to go along with your now partner's desire to move in with him, but you knew his sleeping habits - the whole server knew how serious Bdubs was about going to bed early and getting up even earlier. The first sleepover wasn't even planned as such, the strenuous work in the community and an adventure with Gem, Impulse and Perl in the depths of the earth had taken a lot out of you and your energy, it was far too hard to fight your worries about sleeping in a bed with Bdubs when it was oh so tempting to let him pull you up to his bedroom and fall onto the mattress. That night, snuggled together with Bdubs face pressed into the crook of your neck and his arms wrapped around you, had decided it for both of you and the very next morning you had moved in with your shulker boxes packed to the brims.
You had never looked back.
It was the chirping of birds right at the window what slowly pulled you out of your dreams, the cheerful especially loud singing. With a deep breath you filled lungs and nose with fresh morning air and as your nose was pressed against your partner's temple, also with the familiar smell of moss, birch trees and all that was Bdubs. The sheets rustled as you turned your body slightly to get closer to the warm body again, still deep in sleep.
Your bed wasn't exactly big, even if you might expect it to be from a man obsessed with sound sleep, like Bdubs. It barely fit in a window alcove on the top floor of the monolith, a small bed with a soft gray blanket that you pulled higher. Sleeping together as a couple in this bed was also only a good idea if you liked each other very much, because it didn't leave much room for double solitude.
Fortunately, you liked Bdubs very much, and he liked you too.
So it was no wonder that you slept in the same position every night, despite the temperature: You with the cool diorite wall in your back, Bdubs snuggled up against you face-first, his head nestled under your chin, one arm draped over you and the other flat against your chest, right over your heart. The blanket was usually so high that only his brown mop of hair peeked out, and you wondered every time how he got air under it.
His breath hit your neck hot, steady and completely relaxed, his lips slightly open and placed against your pulse. Short but noticeable stubble scratched your neck, and with each of his minimal movements, like the slipping of his hand from your shoulder blades lower down your back or his bent leg resting over yours, he sighed lightly in his sleep.
Waking up before Bdubs was almost as rare as days when you generally woke up in bed together. Lately they happened more often, because the long days of work when it came to building, as well as his always ready attitude for any task King Ren (or the roommate one floor above you) had for your partner usually exhausted Bdubs to the point where he hummed a "let's sleep in" in the evening before you scurried under the covers.
You turned your head on the pillow filled with feathers to the window, from whose board the bird, which had served as an alarm clock for you today, had disappeared. The sky was a bright blue, not a single cloud to be seen. Instead, a few shadows of Hermits were hissing around in the air, all already working, shopping, or planning nonsense-just as you knew your friends must be.
You were lucky you weren't awakened by the Warden's bellowing in Etho's house.... Bdub's cellar... a prank of Impulse that affected all the inhabitants of the monolith, none of whom had any idea how to get rid of the terrifying creature and the walls. You clearly preferred the birdsong to the sonic screech.
"Mmm."
You felt Bdubs wake up, his previously loose arms and legs tensing as he stretched, muttering to himself, the tips of his toes peeking out from under the covers on the other side and wiggling around.
With a yawn still full of sleep and pure contentment, he lifted his head, eyes closed and lips pressed into a smile.
"Good morning, Boo." you softly spoke the first words of the day.
Bdubs yawned loudly again before reaching up to breathe a kiss on your cheek. "Mornin' sweetheart," he murmured in his morning voice that always made you feel warm all over. It was noticeably deeper and darker, and Bdubs knew exactly how much you loved it. For that very reason, he sat up a little so that his lips could brush over your ear. "You've been awake long?" he asked, as he spread light kisses on your forehead.
You responded with a nod, too absorbed in your partner's caresses to formulate words. Bdubs was not shy when it came to showing his love and affection, no matter when or where you were. There were kisses on the cheek at work, walks around the neighborhood hand in hand, and then there were the moments when he suddenly burst into loud love songs that would make opera singers fall over with envy. Your favorite moments were the private endearments, like slow mornings in bed, dancing in the kitchen, or when he watched you brew potions and wrapped his arms around you from behind. He thought of new ways to show you how much he loved you every day, and that's why you fell for him harder and harder.
"What are we going to do today anyway?", Bdubs asked, laying back down with you, this time putting his arm around you.
"Do you have something planned?", you snuggled into his side, resting your head against his chest.
"King Ren would like some advice on his quest for the reclamation of the diamonds, I suspect by late afternoon." Humming, Bdubs placed his lips on yours, "I'm free until then" he murmured, and sighing, you surrendered to the kiss.
Bdubs kissed you as he did everything: with full commitment.
He kissed you decisively and deeply, lips slightly parted, while his hands ran over your shoulders up to your chin and gently gripped your cheeks.
You parted after a while, lips puffy and twisted into satisfied smiles as you got comfortable again.
"I'm supposed to help Etho with the Warden problem later".
Bdub's eyes looked worried at your plans for the day. "Why do you have to help Etho with the Warden? He's got himself into this one! Can't he invent some redstone nonsense to make the thing disappear back into the depths? Do you have to risk your life on that?"
"Bdubs-"
"I'm going to have to have a word with Etho- a stern serious word, as the owner of this monolith, that this is not going to continue! If he wants a pet, let him get a cat, but a Warden? I should have had him sign a contract-"
"Bdubs!" Shouting a little louder, you interrupted Bdubs grumbling and rambling and shook your head in disbelief, "Etho didn't put the Warden in his walls for fun, that was Impulse. Besides, he already has an idea of how to get rid of the thing, I'm just an assist in luring it through the portal"
Surprisingly, Bdubs wasn't really convinced by your reassuring words, but he was also always worried about your well-being and apparently luring a Warden wasn't really what he wanted to hear.
He pursed his lips, deep in thought as to whether it was worth discussing it with you if you were going to end up doing whatever you felt like anyway. He didn't want to tell you not to, you were your own person after all.
All these thoughts and reflections played out on his face like a movie, the furrowed brows and fixed gaze were something you could read like a book by now. A simple book, a picture book, where you didn't even have to read much - Bdubs was easier to read than anyone you knew, although he always tried to seem mystical and unpredictable.
That's exactly why you knew how to get him off his sulk.
You pressed closer to him, leaning your head against his tanned, warm chest, and looked deep into his eyes. "I'll take care of myself, all right. I'm big and strong, remember?" you said.
He sighed, his chest rising and falling at the theatrical, long and audible exhale. "Do you promise?" he asked softly. There was seriousness in his gaze, deep concern because of the known information about the Warden's strength.
"I promise," you pronounced both words seriously, then grinned again, "But sweet that you want to have a serious word with Etho for me."
"Don't you believe me?", Bdubs pushed his shoulders back to appear broader "Am I not big and strong like you?"
As soon as you snorted, Bdubs muttered a "That's it" and flipped you over so he could lean over you. His dark hair fell down like a curtain and laughing you ran your hands through the soft short strands. Bdub's hands wandered over your sides, tickling you here and there, dancing over your skin like the strings of a guitar, and like a musician he listened to your laughter as if it were his most beautiful composition.
The sun shone warmly through the window, falling on you and making Bdub's dark eyes shine. The sheets rustled under your squirming, attempts to escape his tickling, and your laughter echoed loud and free in the silence of the monolith, because the morning is yours and yours alone.
Until a deafening crash drowned it all out. The walls seemed to vibrate under the all-silencing sound and a flower pot fell from a windowsill somewhere and shattered into thousands of shards outside.
Immediately you and Bdubs had jumped up, he in front of you with his chest lowering and heaving heavily, you behind, your hands clasped with his.
"What was that?" you whispered, but Bdubs couldn't give you an answer.
It wasn't a second before footsteps were heard. Loud and rumbling, they came running up the stairs of the tower, until suddenly Etho was standing in your bedroom. His white hair was tied in a long braid and he looked from Bdubs to you and back to Bdubs.
"Oh man, put some clothes on!" he exclaimed, which jolted Bdubs out of his state of shock.
"That's outrageous!", Bdubs started to rant "You, YOU"- he took a few steps towards the intruder and pressed his index finger against the green vest he was wearing "You're just a roomie in my basement! You have no rights to my clothes, how and if I wear them, because only I have that"
Etho's gaze shifted to you, still behind Bdubs but noticeably more relaxed, and you shrugged.
"Can you tell me what that horrendous crash? I bet it was your fault, wasn't it you troublemaker?", Bdubs continued to grumble, and he could have talked for ages if you hadn't put your hands on his back and stepped up beside him.
"Let the man explain himself.", Etho was already smiling gratefully, then you became more serious again, "Because I'd also like to know what just swept one of my flowers off the board"
"Well, I guess the Warden has spent long enough behind the wall and I believe he wants to scout the area very soon. If you still want to help we should get going now" the usually calm man sputtered out and already at his statement you had reached for your armor that was lying on the floor and were about to slip into the breastplate when Bdub's arms wrapped around you.
"Please take care of yourself, okay?"
"Of course" Encouragingly you smiled at him and turned so he could tie the cords on the sides of the breastplate. Nimbly, his hands work the ties into a tight knot that secured the armor and kept it from slipping off.
As if the sudden chaos wasn't enough, a voice sounded from outside:
"Didn't we say we were cleaning up the server? What is this garbage of broken flowerpot? BDUBS? ARE YOU THERE?" you heard King Ren and now it was Bdubs who was hastily grabbing his things.
Hectically, he threw on the green moss sweater that had been hanging on the bedpost until now and snatched his Elytra from the small closet next to the stairs.
It was almost ironic how quickly your quiet two-on-two morning had turned. A moment you sometimes longed for for days, gone again within minutes and yet not forgotten.
In haste and practiced handles, you were ready for the adventures of the day, through which you would fight with the memories of gentle kisses and togetherness, to be together again as soon as possible.
Before saying goodbye, Bdubs, now fully dressed in shiny shoes, his familiar sweater and elytra, and a bag full of rockets, pulled you into a heartfelt final kiss. "See you tonight. I love you," he murmured, for as much as he showed his affection in public, those words, that promise, was just for you.
"I love you too," you whispered back and already you were following Etho down the stairs, two steps at a time and all you could hear was the hiss of the rockets.
You could hardly wait for the evening.

The Creeper and The Creeper Whisperer [Docm77 x Reader]
Fluff, Request: Doesn’t have to b a req if u don’t want but imagine doc x a reader who is like somehow really friendly to hostile mobs and despite not being a creeper hybrid they are really chill w creepers and stop ppl from killing them and stuff and he’s like “oh em gosh??? Someone who doesn’t hate my kind???” Or sum
This may not 100% fit what you asked but I adore the idea of reader just being a creeper magnet and somehow cuddling up with the things completely safely so I kind of went with those vibes rather than a normal dude who just doesn't kill them. Sorry if that's not what you wanted but brainrot be rotting the brain
Tw. Death mention? Once I think, nothing happens (especially bc respawn mechanics are a thing) but the boom booms are dangerous and that is pointed out. Also sorry if this a bit directionless but I just wanted to get something out.
--------------------
You were a funny little phenomenon. On most fronts you were a fairly average person. Your skills in both architecture and redstone were much more than praise worthy, but other than that you didn't have much to you at first glance. Except for one interesting quirk.
Creepers were universally recognized and feared bundles of eventual destruction. The cause of many lost lives, items, and chunks of wall. Yet, you adored the walking bombs.
It's a mystery why they were so passive towards you, but it felt like every single one returned your feelings. Your life from childhood was dotted with the unusual memories of them being unusually friendly. From feeding those still left from the previous night to patching up the scratched up ones you'd find in the forest or while mining. You were kind to them and they never posed a threat to you.
You had a similarly symbiotic relationship with other hostile creatures, but it wasn't exactly the same. It was only creepers that actually bonded over to you with (metaphoricaly) open arms, but you would still take care of a stray enderman or skeleton if you came across one.
That's probably why you ran a mob sanctuary out of your base. It was your first season with the hermits, and to be frank- you were overwhelmed as all hell. They were a fun lot and you knew your skills could stand their own here. However, between all the acclimating, socializing, manual labor you've been pulling your mind and body were left in desperate need of some less physically and mentally strenuous work.
The sanctuary was your pride and joy. You had a wealth of knowledge on how to care for all of them and the means to give them a place to stay to match.
It was practically a massive zoo enclosure, walls made to look as natural as possible, shallow artificial rivers, trees you had built yourself, all completed with a faux cave area harder to reach and nearly impossible to see from the outskirts of the area.
Whenever your current projects got too taxing, or you happened to stumble across an injured mob, you would spend days at a time looking after the ever-revolving cast of inhabitants of the sanctuary. Some you planed to keep, (mostly the weaker and/or younger creepers who especially imprinted on you) others you set free once they were sufficiently healthy.
It was a place of peace for you as much as they were for your patients. You welcomed the other hermits to visit when they showed interest. On the condition that they don't hurt any of the mobs. Predictably, when they realized 70% of the population was creepers not many were keen on the offer. It didn't bother you too much, more alone time for you this way.
Doc was one of the first to actually except. In hindsight you shouldn't have been all that surprised that he wouldn't have to worry about all your explosives roaming about. Yet in all your creeper based experiences you haven't met a hybrid before him.
Not that you knew it, but he found you far more fascinating than you found him. A couple of the other hermits suggested he spend some time with you after they payed you their own visits. Always with some look in their eyes that blended amusement, curiosity, and scheming. When you explained your little side business he understood it.
You both were able to find humor in the situation, breaking the ice with jokes of losing him in the crowd and other stupid things of the like. Once that phase had passed you suggested that you sit down and eat the lunch you brought into the sanctuary.
After you both finished eating neither of you moved or talked, silently agreeing to relax a little while longer. He noticed that there was something that felt... just fundamentally correct about the moment. Like a comfortable stillness settled deep in his chest. And like a child running into a landed flock of pigeons, the feeling only fled the more he tried to grab hold.
Still, he attempted to pin it on something. Something. Perhaps like the person sitting a little ways out of arms reach from him. With a dreamy, far-off gaze as you watched the creatures living their lives in safety of your favorite project. As much as he didn't want to stare, the fact that he could see the very spell he was under a moment ago on your face was nearly as captivating as the peacefulness itself.
He found himself visiting you again and again after that day.
By with point you knew Doc enough to see the weight of many sleepless nights on him. You were familiar with his mad scientist shtick and how long and bright those overworking episodes burned.
You knew your probably magic connection to creepers was affecting him to some degree, but frankly you didn't care. If it got him to regularly sit down, eat, and take a nap then it was perfectly moral in your mind.
While you were in thay routine it felt like it could go on forever. It was nice and comfortable, yet it was really just the origin story of your relationship.
It just came naturally. You balanced each other out well. He even got you to loose couple nights of sleep to explain his redstone to you. You may or may not joke that you have since been cursed with "lovecraftian knowledge".
You lost track of when your "hangouts" became "dates" and when every nap consisted of a lot of cuddling. You wouldn't have it any other way, as cheesy as that would sound out loud. You didn't care, you were both happy. That's all either of you need.

Saw that you write for Etho so can I just.. Request to pepper his face with small kisses? With and or without the mask? And inspired by your recent Xisuma fic maybe something like 'in the morning' scenario? I think there should be more love for him and I just.. 🥺🥺
Staggering Schedules
Ethoslab x Reader ▪︎ Romantic
Tumblr media
Word Count ▪︎ 559 words
Summary ▪︎ Early mornings are a given, since Etho wakes up with the sun. You don't exactly like this, though.
Note ▪︎ I agree with you, there needs to be more love for him. I hope you like this short piece, and if it isn't what you had in mind, feel free to request another!
Tumblr media
The sun steadily rose in the sky as the first morning light hit your faces. You and Etho had woken up early again, a habit not easily breakable from the days where you were up with the sun and off to work. The two of you were still half asleep, no words coming from you as you held each other, basking in the warmth that the covers and your bodies provided. This happened often, but neither of you minded since you got to spend every morning together. The both of you wouldn't actually climb out of bed and start your days until midday, but for now, nothing mattered outside of your room.
Etho's hand ran up and down your back, as you lay with your head resting on his chest. The steady beating of his heart calmed you, almost lulling you back to sleep before you forced yourself awake again. This repeated for a while, him steadily soothing you in efforts to get you to fall asleep again, and you waking yourself up because you want to be up with him. Finally, Etho pauses with his actions, sighing as he accepts that you wouldn't be sleeping any time soon.
“Morning,” you whisper, lifting your head off his chest and pulling yourself farther up the bed so you’re face to face with him. He smiles at you, and kisses the tip of your nose as a reply. You return the kiss with one of your own, this one landing squarely on his forehead.
Etho sits up, leaving you lying on the bed. You pull the covers up to your shoulders, closing your eyes and drifting off slightly as he gets ready to start his day. You come back to reality when Etho kisses your forehead and makes to leave the room, presumably to go out and meet up with someone.
“Wait,” you say quickly, rolling to the edge of the bed to stand up. He does wait, and stands with one foot out of your bedroom doorway.
“What’s wrong?” He asks, looking at you, confused as you shuffle forwards. When you reach him, you gesture for him to lean down. Once he finally does, you pull down his mask and begin to leave kisses on his face. You kiss his nose, forehead, and cheeks with dramatically loud kisses, the man laughing the whole time.
“Mwah!” you exclaim, Etho just laughing at your endearing display, returning your onslaught of kisses with one on your lips. The kiss is sweet and short, and when he pulls back, he smiles gently at you. You pull him into a hug, the both of you rocking back and forth for a good few minutes before Etho finally pulls away.
“I’ve got to go,” he says, and when you pout at his words, he continues, “I’ll be back for lunch, I promise. And then I’ll be back for dinner after that. I won’t be gone for long.” You continue to pout, but nod at him.
“You better be back, or I’m never gonna give you kisses again,” you tell him, crossing your arms.
With a barely concealed smile, he exclaims, “No kisses? Oh, woe is me.” You slap him on the shoulder, scowling at him. With final goodbyes, he leaves the house. You immediately head back to bed, your day not really starting until hours later.

Stargazer anon again! ★彡
I loved your oneshot on Yandere!Impulse. 11/10! If you write more than once for people, would you do smth Yan!Keralis? I'd think of him being a *very* delusional yandere. Like "we're dating even though they barely know me" delusional. Do with that what you will.
Ty! - 🌠
Welcome back Stargazer! I'm happy you liked the Impulse oneshot, thank you for request once again :]
Notes: Once again, I don't know Keralis that much. But I promise I'll try my best. This oneshot took a while since I had to make a bit of a search to know more about his behavior and all.
Also, thanks for the tip, I love it when people give me those.
TWs: Yanderism, maybe ooc Keralis, isolation, mentions of social anxiety and dependency.
C! Keralis X Reader
Not actually innocent
Keralis was nice.
He really was.
You didn't know him much, sure. But whenever you needed something he always seemed to be there, even if you didn't ask something directly to him, he popped up.
When questioned, he told you word got around.
Word sure traveled fast in Hermitcraft, he normally appeared in less than half an hour.
You didn't even know why you weren't friends with him, like, you guys were friendly but not exactly close.
You met him in the first season of Hermitcraft, you two chatted and even did some collaborations. Both of you liked building so it worked out very well in the aesthetic area, but when it came to actually talking and getting closer it didn't happen that much.
Until it happened.
With the help of your friends, the both of you eventually grew closer in season 2 and in season 3 you were practically best friends.
Then he just disappeared.
Keralis went radio silent and never answered anything you guys sent his communicator after he went inactive on the server.
He didn't return for 4 whole years.
In the years he was gone, not only did new people join the server but you got closer to your old friends. You slowly realized how lonely you actually were when Keralis was on the server. The man basically monopolized your attention, every time you were planning to ask one of your other friends to collab or just hang you he immediately took that time, messaging you first.
Of course, you didn't want to think bad of him, maybe he was just very needy of attention? Spending so much time building couldn't have been good for his mental health, so the discovery that he could build and enjoy a nice chat with someone who just fit with him was too good to skip.
And he was also nice, very nice.
So when he came back after 4 years you couldn't bring yourself to confront him.
What you were able to do however, was avoiding him to the best of your ability.
And you did.
During those 4 years, you changed a lot, your personality now seemed to carry a bit of each of your friends as if they all had contributed to building the person you were now by just being there when your best friend abandoned you without further notice.
To be honest, you were sour at the very start of the years without him. You had trouble to be around everyone again, it was almost like he had isolated you without anyone noticing.
In a few months, your new (and old) friends helped you become a better version of yourself and made you miss Keralis a lot less. It was almost like you had lost a piece of yourself by just being so much time around him and not interacting with one else, like your personality had become bland.
Your habits changed a lot, too.
Before, it was almost like you were an extension of Keralis and not your own person.
Keralis tried pretending like nothing had happened when he came back, he acted the same as always.
It was very common for you to have your communicator always blown up with messages and missed calls from him, back then you would respond immediately when they appeared on your screen, now, when he messaged or called, most of the time you were busy with a lot of things.
Now you had a wide range of people to work with, so it wasn't unusual for you to be working with someone and when you guys decided to stop for a break you notice your communicator to be on the verge of glitching with the amount of messages from him.
You have also discovered something called a healthy sleep schedule.
4 years ago you barely napped, spending all day and night building restlessly.
You also discovered how fun other things were, sure, building was awesome, but have you ever explored? Farmed? Spent time with animals??? The list of things you spent time doing now, with other people or even by yourself kept going.
Keralis was restless.
It was almost like- No, you couldn't have been avoiding him. Could you? After all he had done for you?
No, you weren't avoiding him. You wouldn't avoid him of all people. The bond you shared was special, you loved him and he loved you even more.
Of course not! How come he ever even thought about that possibility? Keralis laughed to himself, walking towards your newly built house, seeing you and Grian in the distance, admiring the giant house and talking about something he couldn't hear, laughing and smiling together. He gritted his teeth as Grian stretched his arm across your shoulders, one of his brightly colored wings following his movements and wrapping across your back.
"These guys are getting on my nerves…" He mumbled, his fist gripping the handle of his pickaxe tighter.
Those new people, getting in the middle of you guys relationship, how dare them!
He rolled his eyes as he got closer to you and Grian, able to hear him bidding his goodbyes before flying away in the direction of the sea, where his base was located.
You were smiling, as you stopped waving and turned back you almost jumped, raising your hands in surprise at the figure of Keralis right behind you.
"Oh, didn't see you there." You smiled, scratching your neck after getting over your precious scare. He smiled back at you, coming to stand right by you, looking out into the distance.
"I think we need to talk." He said, not looking at you.
"Sure, one second I'm just gonna finish making a door to my h-" As you prepared to take a step away, Keralis held your shoulder.
"This is important," You lifted an eyebrow, waiting for what the topic of your important talk would be. "It's about our relationship. "
"Okay, yeah. We really need to talk about our relationship." You gave in, gently pushing his hand off your shoulder and moving to stand face to face with him. A serious expression on your face.
This topic was avoided by you for too long, this wasn't just about your mental health now, you had improved a lot and were okay now, and hopefully you'd be able to help Keralis too. Even if it would hurt him having the truth thrown at his face, this was important if he ever wanted to have friends, to understand how bondaries worked. And despite his terrible mental health, Keralis was a good person, he just needed to acknowledge something was wrong and actually try his best to fix it. And if he was up for it, you would be there to help him, like a good friend really would.
"You have to stop putting people before me." He crossed his arms, you shaked your head.
"That's not- They're my friends!"
"I'm more important than them, am I not??!" He yelled, you were about to speak again when he yelled. "You were supposed to love me!"
You put your hands on his shoulders. Speaking in a slow voice to try and make your words get in his head, furrowing your eyebrows.
"Keralis! This is not healthy."
He sniffed. Nodding his head.
You released a breath in relief. Patting his shoulder with one of your hands before squeezing it one last time.
"We can work this out okay, I'm here to help you." You smiled sadly at him, he lifted his head and smiled back at you, grabbing the hand you put on his shoulder. He held the hand there for a moment before pushing it away gently.
"Okay, now I really should go, it's almost nighttime and I have no doors." You chuckled a bit, glancing back at him before running to your crafting table, waving as you got away.
Ah, this is bad. You got attached to these people in the time he was gone.
Guess it would hurt you more when he isolated you from them again.
Still, you were so loyal to him, only made his love for you grow. Good to know you still loved him as well, it would make the process easier.

Ask and you'll receive!!
Can I get some headcannons or a scenario with any hermits you want where the Reader owns a little Diner, kinda like your basic 80's-90's aesthetic?
Have a good one :]]
Multiple little blurb mode activated. Also I am at my parents place for a bit and my laptop has a few broken keys so I am unresponsible for any spelling mistakes :[
_______________________________________-
Grian:
It was super early in the morning, having basically just opened up the store moments earlier when Grian came in. Usually, you knew him to be more of a late riser, but it was nice to see him. Especially since seeing a very tired and cute Grian was not something you got to see very often, despite him basically coming to your diner every day for breakfast. Walking over to him, a bright smile on your face, he gave you a small smile despite clearly being too tired for it. Still, you appreciated the efforts.
“Late night, Grian? The usual?” You asked, and he nodded, planting his head on his hand as he watched you working behind the counter. Honestly, you couldn’t say it wasn’t flattering how you could feel his eyes following along as you moved about the kitchen working on his breakfast. It struck you that he had probably been up all night, cause if it had really been a late night for him he would just still be asleep. Finishing up making his plate, you placed it on the counter in front of him. Having no one else in the diner at the time, most of the hermits (except Bdubs) were probably still asleep, you stood opposite him.
“Why are you still awake, Grian?” You asked, curious as to what he might have been doing all night that had kept him up. It was something that had never happened before, to be honest. Grian really liked his sleep. He swallowed a piece of his pancake before speaking. “I had to do some work, and I didn’t want to wake up too late because then I couldn’t come see you.” He explained, munching away again. You laughed, and flicked his forehead softly.
It did make you blush, though. “You don’t have to come here to see me, Grian. You’re always welcome with me.”
“Yeah, but I like your uniform.” He said, letting a comfortable silence befall you.
______________
XisumaVoid:
It’s late, middle of the night when he comes around. You’ve already closed up the diner, but you’re trying to get everything done for the day tomorrow. You’d wiped down the tables and counters, and cleaned most of the kitchen at this point. When he softly put his fingers to the glass outside, knocking very lightly so as to not give you a scare, you had been sweeping the floors. You hurriedly put down the broom against the counter, wiping your hands down on your apron before unlocking the door to your diner. Xisuma stepped through, hiding one hand behind his back and when you noticed you raised an eyebrow at him, nodding towards his arms. There was a goofy smile painted on his face. “What’s all this, then?” you asked.
“Nothing, I just thought I’d check in on my favourite person.” He says, feigning ignorance and innocence. You squinted up at him, letting him know you see through him. You lunge for his arm, wanting to peel it from behind his back to look at what he is trying to hide from you, but he quickly steps back to avoid your arm. “Hey! Show me what you’ve got.” You demand from him, starting to walk towards him again. He pivots, still keeping whatever he has hidden behind him, away from your line of sight as he sprints to the other side of the counter.
Caught off guard at his moment, you make an effort to follow behind him. But he’s placed whatever he was holding behind the counter, and making his way to meet you he stops you from making your way behind the counter by grabbing you by the waist and pushing you back. You whine. “Sumaaa, I want to know what you have.” He laughs as you push against him, still shoving you back lightly. A thought pops into your head, and you stop trying to get away from him, instead leaning against him and looking up at him with big open eyes. “Is it something for me?” You ask. His mouth turns up in a very soft smile.
“Why would I get you something?” He then asks, putting a piece of hair behind your ear. You make a sad face up at him and he just laughs at you, and then hearing him laugh you can’t help but also burst into laughter. Having him caught off guard too you push him to the side, releasing his grip on you and making a dash for the other side of the counter. Laying there is a small bouquet of wildflowers. You grab them, pulling them to your chest. “Oh, Suma! These are for me right?” You ask excitedly, and he lets out a sigh at his jig being up.
“Of course they’re for you.” He says, and you smell them, smiling to yourself, ready to close up shop and go home with Xisuma.

ZombieCleo:
It had been a very busy day at the diner, the day only now starting to wind down. Basically every hermit under the sun had visited the diner today, Doc even having visited twice just because he couldn’t be arsed to make or get any food of his own. You didn’t mind, in the end, it just meant more diamonds to spend for you. But it was odd, having so many people pop around all day. Not once had the diner been empty. And now, as the day was settling in, and the sun was setting, you felt the exhaustion take over. If one more hermit came through those doors you would lose your mind.
Just as the thought crossed your mind, the little bell attached to the door rang, signaling that someone had entered the small diner. You were still open, so you couldn’t just turn around and scream at whoever just entered, but the thought did cross your mind. So when you turned around and saw Cleo a giant sigh of relief escaped your lips. She noticed, and let a giggle slip as well. “Rough day, then?” She asked, and you nodded, letting your shoulders slouch. You started explaining how every hermit under the sun had paid you a visit. She seemed to get more and more nervous during your walkthrough of how your day went, and you knew something was up. So you just asked what was on her mind.
“Well, it’s my fault they all came through. I let it slip that I was going to come ask you something today and I guess they all wanted to be there. I don’t know where they got the idea I’d do it with them all there, but they’re nosy.” She explained, scratching the back of her head and looking away as to not let your eyes meet. She was clearly nervous about whatever she wanted to talk to you about. “Well, I don’t mind. You can ask me now.” You said, fiddling with the end of your frilly apron. You and Cleo had always danced around each other, and even if you did want her to ask you out.
“Great! Uh, so..  I was thinking I could maybe, if you wanted, pick you up and go somewhere tomorrow when you close up shop.” She managed to squeak out, and you giggled, jumping to envelope her in a big hug.
“I’d love to, Cleo!”

18) Don't You Dare (Make Me Fall in Love With You)
Tumblr media
"Has anyone noticed-" Grian was cut off
"That the moon is getting bigger?" Mumbo asked
"Uh yes- but that's not what I was going to talk about," Grian said before turning t the rest of boatem again "Has anyone noticed that Y/n is acting a bit... odd?"
"Yeah," Impulse spoke up "It's almost... Almost like they're avoiding us."
"I noticed that too," Scar muttered and fidgeted with his hands "They haven't even been coming out of their starter base, except to move things to their megabase."
"Should we check on them?" Grian asked
"NO!" Pearl and Mumbo exclaim
The group looks at them curiously and Pearl continues quietly "I think they need some time alone, I mean they're hiding for a reason, right? When I returned, Mumbo greeted me and we went to see Y/n. When We got into their home, they were asleep and we almost left until we began to hear trashing and a loud sob. They were having a nightmare. So we woke them up. I could never forget the terrified look on their face."
"They kept apologizing and held us both close and asking us not to hate them," Mumbo whispered
"We stayed with them for a bit until they fell back to sleep," Pearl said "But that was the last time we saw them."
"Admittedly, I am worried about them," Mumbo said "I've never seen them like that. It's... terrifying not knowing what going on in their head and not being able to help."
"Should we do something for them?" Impulse asked
"We should!" Scar said, "Maybe something small, like making them dinner or helping them move their chests to their mega build."
"Yeah!" Grian smiled and his wings fluttered in excitement "I bet they would absolutely love that!"
"No thanks," Y/n forced a smile on their face before running away with their arms full of shulkers
The group had just offered their services to Y/n only to be rejected and ran away from
"That was... odd," Pearl said and wrung her hands out "Let's try something else?"
Time after time and attempt after attempt, Y/n either shot them down or avoided them completely
it wasn't like them.
And it made The rest of the Boatem crew concerned for their angel
So, they devised a plan
"This isn't our greatest idea," Mumbo said attempting to talk the rest out of this "They have a reason for avoiding us? Do we really have to do this?"
"Y/n has a track record of avoiding things for long, long, LONG times," Xisuma says "I think this is the best way to get her t tell you what you guys wanna know... Albeit a bit forced."
"Thanks, X," Impulse smiled and fiddled with his fingers
Everyone was nervous about this approach, they knew Y/n would eventually open up to them, it was just no telling how long.
"Let's go," Grian said "And let's hope this doesn't hurt Y/n."
Y/n paced their cathedral halls, checking the deals on the villagers hidden underneath iron trapdoors and their lecterns or smithing tables hiding the blazing magma block underneath as they made sure everything was in order.
Once they were done, the only thing out of order was the twisting feeling in their gut... like something bad will happen
oh boy
did something bad happen
Y/n had to face the people they were avoiding, their crushes
shit
Being tied to a chair wasn't that bad usually. After everything, they've been through they probably had a higher pain tolerance than anyone on the hermitcraft dimensions
What made it worse is the stares that demanded answers from them
"Are You okay Y/n?" Pearl asked softly and caressed their cheek, Y/n melting into the touch they longed for "Why are you avoiding us?"
Y/n snapped back to their reality and with sad eyes, gently pulled back from Pearl's touch before shaking their head
"Do you need us to help you?" Scar asked and his voice made Y/n want to curl into his side
Y/n didn't realize how much they missed the rest of the Boatem crew and tears welled up in their eyes as they realized they might have to do this forever to get over them
"Talk to us Angel," Impulse kneeled in front of them "We're here to listen to everything you have to say."
"Don't you dare make me fall in love with you," Y/n croaked, throat constricted and eyes watery "Don't you dare enchant me with those eyes. If I fell through your skies, there's no way you would catch me. There's a tear in my heart, but your patch wouldn't match me. Being near you still adds to the size of my sighs. There's still seismic events at hellos and goodbyes, and I still need reminders of why it's unwise to stare.  So don't you dare..."
"Y/n?" Grian asked, his familiar hand made Y/n melt to his touch and sigh in relief before continuing with their eyes forced closed
"Don't you dare make me fall in love with you... Don't you dare do something so cliché. Just get out of my daydreams, you're an unwelcome guest and stop making me miss you 'cause you leaving's for the best. 'Cause I just couldn't stand having you as my crutch
"You're a simmering stovetop I was tempted to touch. If you ever return, it'll burn me too much to bear... So don't you dare..." Wet droplets sparkled as they fell from Y/n's eyes and the group watched as the love of their life cried softly while attempting to reject them
"And I know it's all so shallow, but a shallow cut still stings! And before my heart becomes Amelia's heir, I need to clip its wings!" Grian winced at the metaphor and Y/n's chest heaved as they continued "So don't you dare keep mocking me with those thousand little things that I adore! Let me ignore you, don't let me care!
"And don't you dare leave me still in love with you! Nothing's fair when love is war!" Y/n sobbed as they shouted their words to the group who stood speechless at them, wanting nothing more than to comfort them, to hug them, to remind them that they are safe and they will still love Y/n... even if they didn't want it "And I just can't endure any more of the fight! When the casualties rise with my heart rate each night! Though I know I'm to blame for the glances I'd steal, for the time I kept spending pretending it's real... And now that it's ending, I still have more feelings to spare!
"But don't you dare... Don't you dare..." Y/n slumped in their chair, head ducked in attempts to hide their red blotchy face, to hide the tears of knowing Y/n wanted them but knowing they can't dare to even think about having them, to hide the tears that just can't seem to stop at the thought of losing Boatem
of losing their symphony
It was just... too much to even imagine
At least, it was until a hand brought Y/n's face up to look at the group
Mumbo
"Oh Angel," He sighed "Is that why you were avoiding us? Because You were scared of falling in love?"
Y/n nodded softly and Grian moved behind them to untie the bounds "I don't want you guys to find the imperfections in me after we start dating and then... leave... I never want that again. I never want to be used for your greedy purpose only to be discarded when you guys find someone else." More tears welled up in their eyes "I don't want to be the imperfect stain on your life."
"Oh my angel, to me, You're perfect." Mumbo sighed and pressed his lips to their forehead. When he pulled away Y/n grabbed his face and pulled him down to press a kiss to his lips, gritty with redstone dust but lighting up with the electricity between them. Mumbo gently wiped Y/n's tears off with his thumb as he mumbled sweet nothings against their lips
Once they pulled apart and caught their breath, Mumbo pulled them into his arms and held them tightly as they calmed down in his arms. The others joined in to either sit next to Y/n or place a hand on Y/n
just to remind them that they were there and would never leave
Y/n had never felt so... adored
Is this what it felt like to be truly loved by people?

WRONG TURN (AT THE RIGHT TIME)

PAIRING: Vampire!Ethoslab x GN!Reader
SUMMARY: It was simple, the arrangement you had with Gem. She would let you study in the library before it opened; you would be gone before her boss came in. So… how did you wind up with a vampire for a history tutor?
WARNINGS: Mild language, death mention, semi-graphic violence, non-consensual touching (you get manhandled a bit, nothing sexual), blood and injury, vampirism
A/N: Etho’s a little spooky in this one... had me feeling some type of way while I was writing him 🥴. This one is a bit longer than some of the other stuff I’ve written, and a bit scarier, but I hope y’all enjoy it anyways!
Tumblr media
“Alright, time to pack up. You promised me you would be gone before my boss gets in, and the library opens in an hour.”
You jumped at the sound of a book slamming against the surface of the desk you were sitting at, jerking your head up and away from the paragraph you had been staring at for the past ten minutes. A figure loomed over you like the specter of death, impatiently drumming their fingertips against the flesh of their crossed arms.
They- or rather, she- affixed you with a glare that could melt steel, green eyes flashing behind the thick rims of her glasses. It took a second longer for your sleep-deprived brain to boot up, but it was almost too easy at this point for you to recognize the face of the library’s chief archivist.
Rubbing at your burning eyes with a forefinger and thumb, you puffed a slow breath through your cheeks. After trying to read by the dim light of the desk lamp for God knows how many hours, they stung like hell.
“Sorry, Gem. I must’ve lost track of time.”
The librarian, Gem, snorted but allowed her stern gaze to thaw, auburn hair rippling down her back as she tilted her head. “Are you sure you aren’t pushing yourself too hard? I know you want to finish up your degree, but I’m pretty sure you’ve studied here every day this week.”
You chuckled dryly. Oh, she had no idea.
Your day job took up almost all of the ‘working day’ so to speak, leaving only the darkest hours of the night for you to attend college classes and catch up on homework. However, during those hours, there was nothing you could access beyond what little you could pirate on your shitty laptop and printed course material.
Which is why Gem is the only thing standing between you and straight-up flunking college.
Despite her devout adherence to the laws that governed your local city library, you had convinced her with a mix of bribery, guilt-tripping, and groveling to allow you to visit in the early hours before it opened. You were able to read and complete your assignments in peace, but most importantly: you were able to access legitimate, essential, official resources during the only time you had during the day to study.
You felt the muscles in your jaw twitch as you held your smile, hoping it didn’t look too vacant. Or desperate.
“I’m fine, Gem. Just a bit tired.”
She quirked an eyebrow. “Sorry- have you seen yourself? The bags under your eyes are big enough to carry my groceries.”
You winced.
“Can’t argue with you there.”
If you were being honest, you couldn’t remember the last time you’d gotten more than four hours of sleep in a row- and even that estimate was generous. You pivoted in your seat, making the tactical decision to retreat from Gem’s piercing gaze.
You sighed as you crammed as many books as possible into your backpack, forcing protesting muscles that had long remained stagnant into movement. Whatever didn’t fit you hefted in your arms, making a face halfway between a grimace and a look of abject horror as your back cracked under the weight.
Gem pursed her lips, and somehow you resisted the urge to groan. This was an old argument that the two of you had hashed and re-hashed ever since she’d let you come into the library during closing hours, and you were sick of having to defend yourself.
“You can’t keep burning the candle at both ends. You look like you’re going to keel over at any second.”
“Well,” you laughed airily, the lightness of your voice at odds with the abject exhaustion in your expression. “It’s not like there’s anything I can do. I need to earn my degree, and you know that night classes are the only thing I can afford to take.”
Pausing for a moment, you snorted. “Both literally and figuratively.”
“You’re going to kill yourself at this rate,” Gem sighed, her normally lively countenance as deadpan as she could make it.
“No, I don’t think so. Not if you get to me first.”
A beat of silence.
“... Fair enough.”
It was routine for you to haul your backpack onto your shoulders, Gem helping you with the straps, and wave a harried goodbye to Gem as you slipped out the library’s back door. At her insistence, you promised to text her when you returned to your apartment so she knew you had gotten back safely.
You shivered, clutching your books tighter to your chest as the warmth of the indoors faded, leaving you to the mercy of Autumn’s chilled embrace.
It was no exaggeration that your free hours landed squarely in the dead of night- because although you had been up for hours, the sky was still as dark as pitch. Only the barest hint of starlight shone through the inky blackness, and though logically, you knew it was because of light pollution, some part of you wondered if the entirety of the milky way had been swallowed whole.
While the library was laid deep within the city’s heart, it was directly at the center of the entertainment district. Meaning that, despite the late (or early) hour, the city streets surrounding the library were just as busy during the night as they were during the day. Restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and… other businesses lined the street, the light from their illuminated windows and neon signs shining like rainbows against the pavement.
Across the street, raucous laughter resounded from within a bar. The sound bounced eerily across the pavement and crowded walls of the buildings that rose like silhouettes from the ground. You flinched as you heard the sound of shattering glass, accompanied by loud cheering, wrinkling your nose against the sharp sting of early winter frost and the pungent scent of booze.
You quickened your pace, dodging and weaving through flocks of tourists that ranged from mildly inebriated to flat-out drunk, barely managing to keep yourself balanced under the awkward weight of your backpack. The idea of being caught up in whatever illicit business went down in the cramped alleyways and seedy taverns that garnished the area like sprinkles on a cake was far from appealing- especially with the whole ‘living alone’ thing.
At the next street, you finally made the turn that led you away from the throngs of frat boys and bar-flies into the residential areas that sprouted just a ways off from popular tourist destinations.
Although you had made the journey countless times, it never ceased to startle you just how quickly the general cacophony of shouting and laughter faded away with a few blocks of distance. It was much, much quieter here; the only sounds were the gentle tap-tap-tap of your shoes against the concrete and the occasional rush of a car driving by.
Windows of houses looked more like dark, empty eyes as you passed them, and the further you got from the entertainment district, the easier it was to pretend that you were the only person on earth. A sharp gust of wind suddenly howled through the trees, rattling leaves and raking icy claws across your skin.
You gasped as a shiver snaked its way down your spine, instinctually clutching your books tighter to your chest in an effort to conserve warmth. Cursing softly, you shed through your coat pocket to find your phone, exclaiming in victory as your fingers wrapped around it. Clicking it open, you blinked in surprise once you spotted the time: 5:00 AM.
Huh. That was definitely waayyy later than you had originally expected… and you had to get to work at 8:30. A high-pitched whine rose in the back of your throat.
Say goodbye to any chance you could’ve had at a (barely) decent sleep, because at this rate? It would be a miracle if you could get home in time to shower and eat.
You were so focused on your phone that you almost didn’t process the electric hum that filled the air, the lone streetlight ahead flickering in and out to the beat of your footsteps. Catching the flashing from your periphery, you glanced up with a frown.
Now- you weren’t an electrician, or really anyone skilled in the engineering field, but… you were fairly certain that it shouldn’t be making that loud, electric humming noise. You halted in your steps, tilting your head and squinting your eyes at the malfunctioning lamp. It flickered one more time, weakly, before plunging you into shadow.
If you thought that the night was dark before, surrounded by light and the nightlife, it paled in comparison to the true darkness that descended upon you like a cloak. One moment, you’re perfectly fine, and the next, you can hardly see the shape of your body against the pavement.
Another shiver wracked your body- but it felt different from a chill. Something inside your brain had begun frantically ringing alarm bells, and you could only desperately search for some kind of stressor as the hair on the back of your neck rose to attention.
Shakily, you exhaled, spinning in one, slow circle. There was the faint outline of a parked car, engine silent and sleeping, the houses, the trees- nothing. Nothing that would make your anxiety levels swing from ‘manageable’ to ‘DEFCON one’.
You turned back around, your previously relaxed pace discarded in favor of a light jog. It was all you could do not to fall on your ass as your backpack shifted and bounced with your downstep, and your chest felt tight as panic began to seep in.
What the hell is going on?
Something clattered behind you, and your breath seized in your lungs. The burning was hardly an afterthought because you were sprinting, stumbling and dropping your own books in your haste to get away from something you couldn’t- or wouldn’t- see.
You were so close you could see the gleam of the next streetlight up above. Your inhales were more like sobbing gasps of air, and distantly you felt the dampness of your cheeks as tears sluiced down them.
You were so close.
But it was never like you had the chance to escape, anyway.
A calloused hand wrapped around your wrist, yanking it and the rest of your body back. Hard.
All of the wind was knocked out of you as you slammed into the ground, hands and knees shrieking with agony as the pavement grain shredded the skin. The books within your bag did little to soften the fall, their hard spines digging into your ribs through the material of your bag.
Spots danced in front of your eyes, and you felt like you were moving through molasses as a pair of shiny dress shoes strolled into view. You didn’t want to see their face. Something visceral within you begged you to make yourself as small as possible- not a threat, nothing of interest.
Still, your traitorous gaze drifted upwards, and you felt the blood drain from your face as you stared straight up into a pair of ruby-red eyes.
“My, don’t you smell divine.”
You tried to scream, but it came out more like a choked gasp as your lungs came up empty.
This wasn’t- you had to be hallucinating. This had to be something that your sleep-deprived brain had dreamed up, safe and asleep in your bed.
Vampires weren’t real.
But, as it grinned with razor-sharp fangs, face alight with nothing but hunger, it was impossible to say it was anything else as it dug sharp, talon-like nails into your open wound.
Pain, quick as lightning and ten times more intense sparked through your nervous system, wringing a punched-out gasp from your throat. The periphery of your eyes darkened, and for a moment you genuinely thought that you would pass out from sheer agony as you desperately tried (and failed) to tear its wrist away.
It chuckled, twisting its claws in deeper to draw a proper scream out of you, humming in approval before it pulled them out. You went lax, heaving for breath as it lapped at the sticky blood- your blood- coating its fingers.
Your eyes fluttered open, and you realized that it was watching you. Crouched on the side of the street, inspecting you with a calculating gaze not dissimilar from how a fox inspects a cornered rabbit.
“Oh,” it said, a grin that was entirely too wide creeping across its face. “Yes. You taste even better than I thought you would.”
Feeling your breaths come faster and faster as fresh tears prickled at the corners of your eyes, you pressed your palm to your mouth, only succeeding in smearing the blood that covered it all over your chin.
So this was how you died. Alone, scared, and covered in your own blood, pinned down in the middle of the street by a creature you thought only existed in classical literature and trashy romance novels.
And, to top it all off, you had never even graduated college.
The vampire shifted, and you flinched at the sensation of its talons scraping at the soft flesh of your neck. You knew what happened next if the stories were to be believed, but terror had frozen your limbs as thoroughly as rigor mortis.
You swallowed, squeezing your eyes shut.
And promptly had them fly back open as the vampire shot back in a blur of snarling and snapping limbs, hitting the ground several meters away from you with a loud crack.
Transfixed, you could only watch with a dumbfounded expression as a cloaked figure appeared to teleport in front of you, hissing lowly. The vampire was on its feet before you could blink, its handsome features twisted into an animalistic snarl before it locked gazes with… whatever was blocking its path to you.
If you didn’t feel like you were about to pass out, you would’ve thought how quickly its expression changed from ardor to pure, unadulterated terror was hilarious.
“You,” it breathed, every muscle in its body snapping with tension. “You’re not supposed to be here.”
Sheer survival instinct had kept your focus solely on the vampire that had cornered you, but the fear that radiated it was enough of a surprise that you found yourself glancing over towards whatever was perpetrating it.
One time, after you had gotten off work and had nothing else to do, you decided to watch a documentary series about tropical rainforest animals. For the most part, it was just background noise to help you fall asleep, but you found yourself engrossed when a particular segment about leopards began.
All you could think of, now that you were looking at the cloaked figure, was just how still they were. They didn’t move a muscle, not even where a normal person would’ve begun to cramp after a few seconds. They didn’t even seem to be breathing.
They reminded you of those leopards that you had watched. Especially in the way that those leopards went when they were hunting.
“Who says where I can and can’t be?” they, or rather, he said, masculine voice smooth and calm. “It’s certainly not your job.”
Sensing an opportunity to get the hell out of dodge, you grit your teeth as you shifted onto your hands and knees, slowly pushing yourself up into a crouch. The raw and ragged skin on your knees screamed in protest as it pulled taut, and you had to bite your tongue to stifle your soft sounds of pain.
The vampire’s jaw worked, and even as it drew itself up to its full height, you noted it was much taller than whatever had decided to intervene. (Something was wearing that cloak, but if he was an actual human person, you would eat your hat.)
The cloaked figure titled his head. “If you know what’s good for you, you should leave.”
You froze in place, heart jack-hammering in your ribs. Was he talking to you?
He went on- “Wouldn’t want to break any more rules. The covenant will have your head.”
For a long, tense moment, nothing happened. The wind whistled down the street. In the distance, police sirens wailed.
You didn’t dare move- not when the air itself felt charged, waiting for something to snap.
Then, the vampire growled, lips pulling back from their teeth wolfishly as they reluctantly bowed. Flabbergasted, you watched as it reluctantly melted back into the shadows, the red gleam of its eyes the last thing to fade to black.
The only thing you could hear was your heart thumping in your ears.
After a moment, the cloaked figure’s head turned deliberately towards where your crumpled form was hunched over, and you hastily scrabbled to your feet, Balling your hands up into fists. you trembled, staring him down.
“Are you alright?”
You don’t know what you would do if he decided to attack you, but you weren’t going to take it kneeling- not when you still felt the burn of humiliation for remaining paralyzed by terror. To your continuing horror, he took your silence as an invitation to step forward.
“Stay back,” you bit out, adrenaline buzzing through your veins. “I will not hesitate to punch you in your stupid face.”
Impressively, although you couldn’t make out his face with the shadows that clung to the hood of his cloak, you could see him do a double-take. “... Sorry?”
“You better be,” you muttered, eyes flickering to and fro as you tried to find a good escape route.
To your surprise, he hesitated, murmuring something under his breath that you couldn’t make out. He cleared his throat, shifting on his feet. “I am, if that makes you feel any better. You aren’t supposed to be attacked like this, it’s… uncivilized.”
Gaze snapping back to him, your brows raised incredulously. “Really? You’re not just saying that so that I let my guard down? And then you kill me and steal all my blood?”
“If I wanted to ‘steal all your blood’ I would’ve done it already.”
You deadpanned. “That’s not as comforting as you think it is.”
He took another step, but before you could threaten him again, pulled the hood of his cloak down. By now, your eyes had adjusted to the light (or lack thereof), and you found yourself sucking in a harsh breath.
Although you had guessed, what you saw definitely revealed him to be another vampire. His hair, a close-cropped shock of white, stood out against the darkness of the surrounding street.
You couldn’t describe the way that he was looking at you if you tried. His eyes burned like hot coals, pinned on you with a kind of unyielding focus that made your arms prickle with goosebumps. It both struck you as similar to that other vampire’s regard, a predator watching prey, but it was distinctly different- more like he was cataloging the rise and fall of your breath, the grinding of your shoe heel into the pavement.
A black mask- one of those anime ones that you couldn’t bother to remember the name of- hung around his neck, ready to be pulled up without a second’s notice. It looked well-cared for, despite being a little worn around the edges, and he fiddled with it absently as your gaze swept over him.
The most glaring thing about his appearance was the fact that he was almost flawlessly handsome, skin unblemished, bone structure pristine. The only thing that marred him was the long, thin scar that cut across his left eye, splitting his eyebrow in half.
“Even if you are pretty, I still won’t hesitate to punch you in the nose.”
He barked a laugh, fangs- holy shit his fangs- flashing. For some reason, he seemed pleased at your jab, chest puffing out slightly. “So you think I’m pretty?”
“Do I look like someone that would be attracted to an overgrown mosquito?” you scoffed, eyeing his shrewdly. “And a vain one, at that.”
He paused for a moment, staring at you, and you felt the fear that had temporarily abated come back in full force. One of these days, you were going to take a vow of silence so you could never say anything stupid ever again.
You swallowed, hugging your arms tight to your body as you leaned away. In a blink, he was suddenly, much, much closer, and you swore as you jumped.
“No,” the vampire said abruptly, tilting his head in a predatory manner. A smile split across his face, and a confident gleam arose within his eyes as his hand came up to grab your chin firmly. (Privately, you were relieved to find that he clipped his nails like a normal human being.)
“But you do look like someone who knows something they shouldn’t.”
You thrashed in his grip, eventually stilling with your palms pressed flat to his chest. Although you were pushing as hard as you could, it didn’t seem to affect him.
You laughed, a little bit hysterical. “Oh, so now you’re going to kill me?”
His fingers drummed against the flesh of your cheek. Languidly running his tongue against the swell of his upper lip, he cocked his head to the other side. You winced as you heard the vertebrae in his neck crack.
“What could I give you to keep you quiet?”
You blinked, taken aback by his jarringly serious tone.
“What?”
“What do you want? Money? Favors? What would convince you to keep your mouth shut?” he pressed, eyes narrowing, Distantly, you noted that his eyelashes were as pale as the hair on top of his head. “We’ve got kind of a secret society thing going on, y’anno, and we don’t need you blabbing.”
Confused, you shifted, and his hand came up to squish your cheeks until your lips puckered like a fish’s. You tensed but didn’t attempt to move.  “‘Oul’nt you j’st kill ‘m?”
He smirked, ruby red eyes gleaming. “Yes, but it would be a shame. You’re funny.”
You batted his hand away, staring at him. He… seemed sincere, or he could just be a very skilled liar. It was more than likely that both were true, and whatever you did, it would be a gamble.
“... A tutor,” you said after several moments of silence, voice laced with quiet certainty. “That’s what I need. A tutor.”
He stared at you. You stared at him. There was a lot of staring at one another.
“That’s it? ”
You shrugged. “College is hell.”
“Not cash, or fame, or… cash…” the vampire frowned. “Everyone asks for cash.”
“I guess I’m just built different,” you said, as if you weren’t running on less than half of the minimum sleep quota and hubris.
You would be kicking yourself later when you sprung out of bed, wild-eyed as you beheld the healing cuts that littered your knees and palms, but right now? You were absolutely not in the right mindset to be making pacts with a creature of the night.
“Alrighty then,” he said after a moment, letting go of your face in favor of offering you his other hand. “It’s a deal.”
You, with all the bravado and lack of self-awareness that only a college senior could possess, took it.
He grinned, and in a blink, a solid chest bumped into your back. There was no heat to your proximity other than your startled flush, even as the vampire’s cold breath caressed the shell of your ear.
“The name’s Etho. I have a hunch that you and I... we’re going to have a lot of fun together.”
The crack of your fist hitting his face resounded through the street, drawing a startled hiss from the vampire.
Well, he couldn’t say you didn’t warn him.

“Mumbo! You missed a piece of red stone in here!” You called out, leaning out between the blocks of his latest invention. You’d been chatting with him while he built, so when it didn’t turn on as it was supposed to, you’d offered to see if you could spot a problem.
There were plenty of benefits to being so small, and you used them often to help out the other hermits. Given that the last time you’d helped Mumbo, he’d offered to build you an automatic sugarcane farm, you were more than willing to help him out again.
Perhaps that wasn’t the only reason you were so willing to help him. Over the time you’d known him, the two of you had forged a strong friendship. It was never a surprise to the hermits to see you sitting on his shoulder and listening to him explain a new project, or to see you chatting to him from his jacket pocket.
“Thank you, dear! I can’t believe I missed that.”
And of course, he could fluster you with the simplest of pet names. It definitely didn’t help when he scooped you up so he could fix his machine, holding you close to his chest with one hand. You were thankful he wasn’t looking at you, because you could feel your face burning.
“There we go, let’s see if it works now! Would you like to do the honours, love?”
He set you down next to the lever that controlled the contraption. Despite it being practically bigger than you, he let you push it by yourself, knowing you’d have no trouble.
That was one of your favourite things about him. He was an incredibly helpful person, but he wasn’t overbearing. He knew when to step back and he didn’t underestimate you like so many people did. It was a refreshing change of pace.
And when the machine kicked to life and he lifted you back up into his hands, you couldn’t complain. It gave you a better view of his wide grin.
“Fantastic!! Oh what would I do without you?” Mumbo said, practically buzzing with excitement.
“Spend a lot more time rebuilding your inventions from scratch, I’m sure.”
He laughed, and you couldn’t help but smile. His joy was infectious, you’d bottle and sell it if you could.
“That already how I spend half my time! I’d have no free time at all.”
He set you on his shoulder, beginning to explain why he’d built this new machine and you let his bright voice wash over you. Here, simply spending time with him, you had all you could ask for.

"finding a friend in your enemy" ➷ BdoubleO100
➛ pairing: c!bdubs x gn!reader (no pronouns mentioned)
➛ idea: when Pearl asks you to cat-sit her cat Nugget, Bdubs is convinced he would never like any cat and especially not one that shows no interest in him whatsoever. It's fascinating how fast the tables turn.
➛ word count: 1,1k
➛ tags/warnings: none, pure fluff, mention of small injuries
➛ an: while writing this I rewatched Bdubs Among Us stream from tonight and I had to write this short story after he and Pearl chatted about her cat. I know Bdubs is not on my official list on who I write for yet, but if you have any ideas, send them in :D
➛ requests: open!
important links: rules + masterlist
🌿 reposts and comments are appreciated, they motivate me a lot and keep me writing <3

"I think she hates me"
"What?" Astonished, you looked over the top of your notebook, glancing from the long list of materials for your mega base to Bdubs, who almost disappeared into the tall grass in his moss sweater.
"She hates me and probably every person on this server," your boyfriend repeated, resting his head in the crook of his arm so you couldn't see anything of him except for a tuft of brown hair. He'd been lying there in the meadow in front of your starter home for hours, as still as you'd never have thought him to be, hidden under his soft sweater that was far too warm for a warm summer day.
"Well, she seems to like me," you clarified, and turned back to your list. You had already started to elaborate the plans for your big project a week ago and after you decided to settle down near the shopping district by the sea you could finally go into more details - or rather you could try to, because Bdub's deprecating click of his tongue made you lower the notebook in your hands again.
"You don't really think someone so sweet hates humanity, do you?"
"She's the devil himself! Look at her with her red sparkling eyes and razor sharp claws! Just now she was sharpening them and I swear she was staring at me the whole time!"
"Bdubs, it's a cat!" you interrupted his agitated babbling and stood up from your double chest serving as a seat, aware that you couldn't continue working until the "cat" problem was solved. And if, in exchange, you would put your project on hold for another night, only to finally be able to work in peace afterwards, so be it.
With a sigh, you trudged across the meadow to the shady oak tree, against whose trunk you leaned again, directly under the "B+y/n" cut into the bark, which had been created as soon as you had put down your first chest of the now out-of-control chest monster.
Stretching out your legs, you leaned against the trunk and looked down at Bdubs and his fluffy opponent.
Pearl's cat, Nugget, lay curled up in itself with her head, chin turned upwards in the grass, sleeping perfectly peacefully, completely unaware of Bdub's stare. Now that you were facing him you could see his face again, his skepticism of the fur baby more than evident in his curled lips. The hood pulled over his head cast a shadow over him, and laughing, you stretched to pull it off of him.
"Stop looking so grim, you super villain," you grinned after you ran a hand through his brown short strands and he blew them out of his eyes.
"I'm not the bad guy here," he grumbled, his whole attitude towards the cat telling a whole different story. Ever since Pearl had asked you to watch her cat Nugget for a few days, she had a long trip planned to gather materials and didn't want her running around her base alone, Bdubs had been out to plant nasty thoughts and worries in your head. What if you couldn't handle cats? Did you know what Nugget ate and needed for grooming? What if Nugget didn't want a babysitter at all and just wanted to chill for a week?
The latter had got you thinking about whether it might not have been Bdubs who didn't want to be a babysitter.
For you, the issue of Bdub's apparent dislike of cats had been resolved when Pearl had dropped Nugget off the day before yesterday in a box and with a shulker box full of food, snacks, and grooming products, and the cat had responded to Bdub's attempt to pet her-he'd been clumsier than he used to be at Redstone-and he'd gotten a small scratch on the spot.
You thought that if they didn't like each other, they should get along in peace and just ignore each other, but you didn't count on the sudden jealousy that arose in Bdubs every time the cat tried to get close to you, thus scaring him away.
Of course, he claimed that Bdubs, the king of the moon, didn't need to be jealous of a creature like a cat, a kitten at that, because he was so much better, and yet he was staring at Nuggets as if he wanted to send her to the moon in a rocket.
Just as you took your hand out of Bdub's hair and were about to lean back again, Nugget stirred. First she stretched her small slender hind paws back, rolled away and presented the underside of her belly to you, meowing.
"Oh look who's awake" Slowly, so she could see your hand coming you began to pet through the warm fur, massaging it lightly "Did you fall asleep after your dinner? That was quite a feast wasn't it? You're just like Boo," you whispered loud enough for Bdubs, who was watching the interaction skeptically and with his eyebrows drawn together, to hear "He likes to sleep in the sun after a good meal, too"
"Hey!" he exclaimed, startling Nugget, as she immediately stopped purring and hissed in his direction. Immediately Bdubs hissed back, seeming less threatening and more childlike.
You looked at him admonishingly, the subject of volume around the kitten had come up more and more in the last two days and while you didn't mind your boyfriend's full voice, cats heard everything a little louder after all. At his low grumble, Nugget calmed down too, her little body rolling relaxedly in your direction until her head bumped against your knee and she tossed up a throaty meow at you, a complaint as to why you had stopped petting her.
As any sane person would do, you continued the petting and were immediately rewarded with the deep purr that made every bit of stress fall away from you. It was truly magical how good a purring cat was for your mental health.
"Boo?"
"Yes angel face?"
You looked up with a smile from a perfectly content Nugget to a grumpy looking Bdubs. He really needed to work on his jealousy. "Don't you want to try Nugget again? She's all fluffy."
At your question, Bdubs laughed out loud until he realized you were serious. "No, never! Never ever in my life will I pet that devil and give myself to her, become one of her servants, serving her food and being bossed around! Can't you see the rage in her eyes? The hatred for the human- ahh" Without much hesitation you had taken his hand and were slowly running it over Nugget's belly with yours. She flinched briefly at the strange touch, but when she realized she was being petted again, she blinked once at Bdubs and leaned toward his hand.
It was a fascinating moment when Bdubs, completely in stupor, let you guide him and when he found his own rhythm and after a while his feet began to kick in the air, you knew you were one step closer to having a cat of your own.
