THINGS I NOTICED WHILE WATCHING BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE AGAIN:

Beetlejuice cut Delores’ ring finger off, and while it was originally a fun joke in the first movie, there’s deep implications about that action when we look at it with the context of the second film. Beetlejuice attacked her after she betrayed him. Anyone would want to kill the person that poisoned them, but the fact that he took the time to find her finger and deliberately cut her ring finger off (and ONLY that finger) reflects how much that marriage meant to him. It also symbolizes that he’s effectively dissolving their marriage. He’s cut off the physical representation of their love and taken the ring, which he tries to give to Lydia hundreds of years later. He held onto that ring for centuries in hopes of finding someone he deemed worthy of it.

He calls his dynamic with Lydia a long-distance relationship, which could’ve been a throwaway joke if not for the fact that when he clearly notices how hot Janet is, he never talks to her or gropes her like he did with Barbara prior to meeting Lydia. Keaton said BJ wouldn’t be politically correct, so this isn’t to reflect the current political climate, but rather to reflect BJ’s motivations.

Beetlejuice was jobless at the start of the first movie, and in thirty years he’s built a company for his bio-exorcisms. Coupled with the picture of Lydia on his desk, it’s possible he did this to impress her. After all, she’s famous and rich now. BJ’s gotta step it up, y’know?

Probably overheard the convo between Lydia and Rory and deliberately bugged her at that time, because if he can possess the phone or whatever, he can probably use it to eavesdrop. This can be further supported by how he got rid of the influencers but kept the people that mattered to Lydia present—Delia and Astrid.

We can also assume he overheard the conversation where Lydia said that Rory loves her and that has to be enough because of the panning to a gravestone. BJ has a special fascination with graveyards, even tiny model ones. If he did overhear them, it explains why he used the truth serum on Rory. He’s testing him. He wants to see if this guy actually loves Lydia or if he’s using her, and then he gives Lydia the means to exact revenge on Rory rather than doing anything himself.

Lydia spends half the movie being strong -armed into a marriage with Rory, and in a way, it’s reminiscent of the first movie’s marriage attempt. Rory dangles their “love” in front of her like a carrot, and if she doesn’t want to be alone, she has to accept his manipulation and agree to get married. Yet she immediately offers it to Beetlejuice, only sounding annoyed rather than terrified. And the movie spends a lot of time proving that BJ has sincere motives this time around, whereas Rory doesn’t. It pushes an underlying message that if one of these guys is going to be a better choice, it’ll be BJ.

Despite Lydia having a tendency to back out of their deals, he still helps her first. He prioritizes saving Astrid even before finding his “runaway bride” again.

Casually calls Lydia the love of his life, looks so sincere when he says he’ll make her so happy. Clearly spent those 30 years planning that dream-dance sequence.

He doesn’t seem to care that Lydia’s sending him away. That coupled with the end scene illustrates how confident he is this time around. Lydia is still stuck with him, and even if he didn’t get her this time, he will eventually. But he also knows how spooked she is by marriage after being a snoop, so it’s possible that he’s just taking it slow on purpose.

In conclusion: Beetlejuice genuinely does want to be with Lydia and care about her. His feelings have evolved beyond permanent residence in the mortal world. If anything, if he still wants that, it’s so he can be by her side.

Hi Charlie! My home recently had an issue with a buncha Sewaddle, and we contacted the rangers and had it dealt with. My daughter really, really wanted to to keep one of them, and given that me and my wife have raised bug types before, we decided to catch one for her. She named it Weewee (I tried so hard to fight it, but she's three and VERY adamant about Weewee). Sewaddle are new for me, and while we have the basics of care handled, do you have any advice for enrichment, especially as he evolves, outside of giving poor little Weewee materials for sewing?

given that they're prey pokemon and pretty easily startled, you want to introduce new enrichment slowly. sewaddle do well with chances to climb and forage for leaves spread throughout their enclosure, as well as the occasional misting to simulate rainfall dripping through the tree cover in the old growth forests they naturally inhabit. one really important thing is teaching your daughter how to properly pet her sewaddle by letting weewee approach her and bump the little sensory organs on his head against her before touching him.

sewaddle move to the ground when they evolve and spend most of their time on heavily leafed forest floors, so you'll want to switch out any vertical climbing spaces for overhead covers that provide a lot of protection from the light. make the best use of that floor space by scattering leaves throughout for him to forage from several times a day, as they are mobile little guys that like to munch on the move, and provide several dark hides of varying humidity. scent-based enrichment is also great for them, since they use their sense of smell to sniff out which leaves are already starting to decompose (their preferred food)

leavanny prefer a lot of social companionship! they're often happiest spending time in the same room as their trainer while they work on their leaf outfits. if you don't have any other small pokemon for them to make outfits for, i recommend giving them some plushies to deck out in leafwear. giving them lots of foliage choice is also super enriching!

i find it so interesting to look at sam and dean's respective views of society and people vs monsters, especially in early seasons, and then how that shifts and evolves throughout the show. like when we first meet them dean is very anti establishment whereas sam is literally studying law at an ivy league college. dean is very vocally anti police, and you're like wow for someone who was raised by an authoritarian father and is trying his hardest to please him this guy sure hates authority. he is aware of and cares about issues like racism and classism. but then when it comes to anyone non human he pretty much has no grey area, he sees them all as monsters to be put down. they are Things and they all killed his mum. whereas sam is pretty neutral about people, he doesn't even seem to be aware of systemic inequalities, he has a more individualistic approach to society. but this means he also sees monsters as individuals, just as capable of being good or redeemed.

This has everything to do with the way they grew up and the challenges they faced that affected them the most. dean's biggest challenge was putting food on the table. dean grew up poor and hungry. he was arrested for stealing, he had to use his body to get by, and he had to starve to try and feed sammy. and sam also grew up poor, but he was somewhat shielded from the reality of it. he wasn't the one who had to get food and pay for the extra week in a motel john left them in. his issues were much more personal. because sam knew he was a freak by all standards, he felt impure, and he knew in his heart that the monsters they hunted weren't too different from him. so his hope was in believing that anyone could be saved. anyone could choose to be good. where dean saw a system, with people in power and people who suffered because of them, sam saw grey individuals, and he was drawn in particular to the ones that had something "wrong" with them (max, madison, the kid from bugs, etc)

dean grew up so isolated that he couldn't be individualistic. he could only look at people from afar and that's why he sees the systems. and the violence he faced wasn't targeted at him personally, it was targeted at people like him. poor people, drifters, queer (or queer-looking) people. sam grew up trying to make connections. he made friends, he wanted an education. he tried so hard to belong.

and it's interesting to me that dean ended up being the one who formed the most personal bonds with people who were different, or ostracised, or monsters. see crowley, benny, charlie, claire.

sam tried to build communities (see his s14 arc) but every time he tried to get close to someone it ended in disaster so he ended up keeping his distance. and building a system. throughout the show he takes on leadership roles, and as time progresses he keeps his relationships more and more goal-oriented. whereas dean ends up forming personal bonds with a lot of people, and focusing less on helping oppressed people in general, and more on saving the individuals he cares about. i'm not saying they switched roles, they both kept their original views of the world, but they shifted towards a more confused and confusing moral compass that pointed somewhere in the middle and made it harder for them to understand each other. and ain't that just what growing up is like. dean cared about the whole world as a teen and young adult, but then that became too much to bear, and he had to focus his energy on his circle of loved ones. still caring about the world, but he had individual connections now and had to prioritise them. and sam still saw the potential for redemption and goodness in everyone, but he grew weary of people too, afraid of them or afraid of losing them, and he built walls. tried to help by giving himself missions rather than getting personally and emotionally involved.

psychologically speaking this show is so rich, the characters don't feel one dimensional (despite some of the writers' best efforts), and following their journey for 15 years means we saw them change and evolve, they don't remain the same people they were in season 1, but they keep some of that, and they just grow organically. sometimes i just love spn

you wouldn’t call yourself pretty or even popular, but you knew deep down that a few people found you attractive

with the way they approached you or tried to get your attention; you weren’t dumb nor were you blind

you didn’t mind it at first. you admit you liked a little attention here and there

but when things got too far, you knew you had to put a stop to it

at first, you paid no attention to it, and was even thankful, in a way

albeit you find the gestures kind, but you didn’t really want anyone to keep spending money on you in fear of leading anyone on

what’s worse is, your faceless suitors have decided to show themselves to you, and to the entire school

most of them confront you in the halls, asking when you’ll accept their courting

others passively wait for you to choose them as your boy/girlfriend

so, on a random tuesday, when your countless suitors are busy bugging you on your way to your next class,

you frustratingly exclaim, “i have a boyfriend!”

now the problem was: you didn’t have a boyfriend

but things were escalating too fast and you just wanted it to stop

you had no heart to reject any of them but you also wanted them to keep their distance

so this was the next best option.. right?

your plan started to go downhill quickly when one of your suitors asked, “who is it?”

you panic, trying to think of a fake name or even someone that doesn’t go to your school

but your mouth worked faster than your brain, and you found yourself saying “jungwon”

“yang jungwon?” someone asked

yang jungwon— the school vice president, soccer team captain, top of his class. also your best friend since both of you were toddlers

“yeah.” you say, feeling unconfident about your plan, afraid that any one of them would peak through the cracks of your lie

but thankfully, none of them do. they leave you be, grumbling about how you’ve been dating jungwon but never said anything

however, for the first time in a while, no one bugs you for an entire day.

you receive no gifts, no guys waiting outside your door to walk you to your next class, not even a passive aggressively suitor “accidentally” bumping you in the halls

your relief is short-lived, however, once classes end and you have to meet up with jungwon

the two of you always walk home at the end of everyday since you’re both neighbors anyway

“hey,” he greets you by the gate. “how was your day?”

“fine.” you reply

the two of you didn’t share any classes, since jungwon was a year higher than you, so most of your walks consisted of you and jungwon talking about your day

he knew about your countless suitors, and was half expecting you to rant about another absurd situation with one of them

but instead, you were quiet the entire time

and he immediately knew that something serious was up, because you were never quiet

“you ok?” he’d ask, genuinely worried about you

absolutely anxious about what you had said earlier in the hallways, you found yourself asking jungwon the craziest question

“canyoubemyboyfriend.” you say, the words jumbled with how fast you mumbled them

“what.” jungwon would just stare at you, stopped in his tracks

you sighed, deciding to tell him what happened: the suitors, what you told them, and how you want the entire ordeal to just be over with

“so.. you told them you were dating me?” he asked, piecing the situation together.

“yeah.” you said. “i’m just so tired of them bothering me all the time.”

“yeah, i can tell.” jungwon laughed.

awkward silence filled the two of you as you continued your walk back home

you treated jungwon’s silence as rejection. you decided to just leave it be, thinking of another solution for tomorrow

but when the two of you made it to your front porch, jungwon suddenly says,

“i’ll do it.” he says

“huh.” you stared at him, unsure if you heard that correctly

“i’ll be your boyfriend.” he nonchantly says, hands in his jacket pockets.

“seriously??” you said, not expecting him to agree.

“yeah. if it means keeping those creeps away from you.” he said

you were so ecstatic of him agreeing that you didn’t think much of what he said

you threw yourself unto jungwon, giving him a tight hug

“thank you, thank you wonnie! you’re a life saver.”

he merely smiles, hugging you back

“let’s talk about it tomorrow.” you said, pulling away

you bid jungwon goodbye and walk back to your front porch, and into your front door

unbeknownst to you, jungwon looked at you the entire time

with a sad smile on his face, he leaves for his house and worries about the repercussions tomorrow

This is an alternative universe where demons can be familiar to witches or wizards to assist and, most of all, as protectors. Witches and wizards can create pacts with demons.

Part One (1/3)

Demon Katsuki Bakugou:

Time Skip (University)

The two of you have had a playful dynamic of sorts since becoming a duo for years now. More often than not, people get concerned over you whenever they see him baring his teeth at you and showing off his fangs with an unhinged look towards you.

He growls at you, to which you happily return, already used to his behavior. It evolved into something the two of you do.

“You do know he can just eat you if he wants to."

“And I can turn him into a bug."

He already has a reputation due to his past actions of picking fights. He doesn’t go around trying to pick fights, and he walks away from the challenger. He hasn’t gotten into a physical altercation since the incident. He will get into verbal altercations sometimes.

He used to be defensive and extremely territorial over you when other demons tried to convince you to drop him.

With time, He trusted you and took the time to teach you how to handle and defend yourself. It has provided him with peace of mind.

If someone else's familiar approaches you, you can constantly feel his gaze on your back. Yet you will find him around the corner, keeping a watch to ensure you are okay. He wouldn’t admit it to you.

He is also well known for needing his personal space. He will swipe at you after the first warning. The first warning is a deep growl. He only gives you one chance to remove yourself from his personal space before he does it himself. He will not be easy on it, either.

There was a time when the two of you won the Witch Hunt competition.

The two of you became even more popular and mainstream. You got multiple donations because of it. A competition between the witches and their families. The goal is to capture witches with their familiars. Each duo had a specific number of points they were worth.

It gets violent pretty fast within the games. It took literally years for Bakugou to convince you to do them. Both parties had to have a mutual agreement in order to enroll in the competition. It is also a perfect way to get donations from benefactors who watch them annually.

Nevertheless, it is a perfect competition where other witches can take out their resentment on someone without the risk of expulsion. It was the perfect way to get even. This also goes for demons who have been holding grudges against other demons.

You aren’t blind. Bakugou has made few enemies, especially in the beginning. You also made a few enemies during your time studying at the academy and here at the university.

Both of you know you will have a massive target on your guys back, especially rising up the ranks over time.

You earned the attention of everyone, seeing how well the two of you worked together. The two of you have known each other's fighting styles for years now. It has become second nature. Surprising all those who doubted his abilities as familiar. Despite showing improvement in his behavior, people still hold his past against him.

Most of all, seeing how loyal Bakugou is despite being under a spell that causes him to be rabid and pushing all of his true instincts to the surface. It pushed all logical reasoning out of the window. It also shows the true colors of whomever it is cast on.

The witch and demon neglected to consider how dangerous Bakugou’s abilities are because there wouldn’t be any resistance from him. He was acting on pure instinct and wasn’t holding back at all.

He didn’t attack you despite letting out numerous attacks beside you in an attempt to scare you or make you run like normal prey. His attacks never touched you, but beside you, you could feel the heat from his attacks.

You were terrified on the inside, but you held it together to not show fear. It’s fear he wants to see; it's instinctual of demons. Thankfully, Bakugou has made you immune to his attacks. Those void eyes carefully observing your reaction lack any sort of soul in them. Eyes of a predator.

His lips crawl up into a delish smile, showing off the fangs that have the potential to rip into flesh. He lets out a low, deep growl.

Out of habit and years of Bakugou teaching you to growl appropriately. You growl back. You wanted me to devour you. There is a chance that he could take that growl as if you were challenging him

In a split second, you could see a faint light in his eyes before it disappeared. His eyes landed on the blood from the injury to your arm, where you had gotten injured when you attempted to interfere with the witch, who was in the process of casting her spell on Bakugou. He slowly turns his head to the side, tilting it to draw attention to the duo. The witch became nervous and let it be oblivious.

It is 101 Demon Physiology to not show any sort of fear or uneasiness. She just failed when there is a demon who has all of his instincts to be on the surface.

There was massive panic among the participants. He literally lost cannon, attacking anyone who showed the slightest fear and uneasiness. Everyone became prey in his eyes.

He was using his abilities to the fullest. He wasn’t holding back, letting out the biggest attacks.

You kept yourself behind him. You use his current state as a feral demon to your advantage. To protect the others, you have been sealing them in marbles after he injured them.

There was major destruction on his rampage. When the two collected enough points, no one could reach them. They immediately declared the two of you winners.

Strictly reserved for the highest witches, the spell that cast it onto Bakugou. That witch who cast that spell came from a long line of elite witches.

You also became the first one to use a rabid demon in a competition, even though you weren’t the one who cast it. Somehow it followed your lead and didn’t attack you for taking his victims from him. He just moved on to the next one around the area.

When the reverse spell was cast on him, he immediately collapsed. You attempted to catch him so that he could only be used as a cushion for his fall. There was no ceremony due to Bakugou being unconscious.

When Bakugou wakes up, you don’t have any clue how relieved he was once told about his state. If he had attacked you, he would have never forgiven himself.

The only thing he could remember was hearing a growl of yours; it's so specific that it would be hard to replicate by someone who. It triggered a set of various memories in his mind while he was outside. His body was acting out of instinct and using attacks that he had practiced for years.

As a result, the two of you became quite popular and had a reputation, which pissed the demon off because everyone is trying to talk to him now. Demons want to know how he trains and how much.

He earned a fanbase, which he doesn’t even want to think about.

He is now getting the attention of witches trying to recruit him after being left alone previously. His peace vanished. He was aggressive with his rejections.

“Fuck off!” was a daily occurrence you could hear from him, including his demonic language telling other demons to get off of his back.

Even more when demons and witches have less innocent intentions when approaching you.

He wants his peace. He wants to be left alone to enjoy his supper without interruption from people.

Pokemon au Spiderbit's teams and explanations:

Cellbit-

Cellbit isn't a battler, and, if he was to get into a fight, he's more likely to use either his words or an actual legitimate knife than his Pokemon. So his team kinda just acts as his research assistants, and his friends. He specializes in Psychic and Ghost type Pokemon because, to him, they're the most mysterious, and because he thinks they're cute even though they do kinda eat souls.

Meowstic evolved from his first ever Pokemon, the Espurr that basically saved his life on that desert island. He even dyed a streak of his hair white to match it because it was self-conscious when it evolved. It doesn't like being in its Pokeball, so it kinda just follows him around all day staring uncomfortably at whoever tries interrupting him when he's working. (Besides Roier, it loves Roier)

Lampent is a sentient lamp. That's obviously cool as hell, and so Cellbit caught it, and now it's his best friend for when he's up late researching. It's admittedly trying to steal his soul and add it to the fire within it, but, like, whatever, it's not like there's much for it to steal

Elgyem Is A Psychic Alien. Are you telling me that Cellbit wouldn't want to have that in his lab? It was supposed to be around exclusively for research purposes, but he got attached, and now it hangs around and eats all his food and watches television

Roier-

Roier's team is specifically curated for contest purposes. Contests are basically mixtures beauty pageants and talent shows where you and your Pokemon try to impress the judges by being both the coolest guys in the stadium aesthetic-wise and by beating the hell out of your competition in battle. Roier likes Bug types, and so he uses them even though they really aren't that cute.

Ariados evolved from his og partner Spinarak, and it's his emotional support spider. It's been with him for over half his life at this point, and it's his number one fan. When he's at home, it Will tie him and Cellbit up in a web so they spend time together because it knows as well as the humans do that Cellbit can and will sneak away to his lab if no one keeps him tied down, literally

Spidops is a ninja spider, so of course it's on his team! It and Aradios work together during contests to set up the silk that the rest of the team needs for their acts, and it's his main powerhouse in the battling portion of the contest. It's also a fucking asshole and it beats the shit out of him as its own special form of training

Larvesta is a newer addition to the team, but Roier brought it on to train it up into the insane lava moth, Volcarona. But for now, it's useful for the talent portion of the contests because it uses its fire. Creatively. And usually by accident. It has some stagefright, but it's getting over it. Slowly.

Yamper is the most recent addition, and it's. Firusflais. It's literally a stray dog that Roier got attached to, and it's the only non-Bug-type he's ever used, and it electrocutes people that get too close to him, Cellbit included. It does pretty well in battle, and it looks cute enough to wow the judges, so it stays

I just got the chance to watch a full playthrough of Jedi: Survivor (I haven’t the funds to be able to play it myself 😭), and IDK if it’s just me but there were two things that bugged me. The first one being just how casual Cal seemed to be about killing his enemies— obviously he killed mooks in the first game, but in this game heads were rolling left and right, seemingly without a care in the world.

And that brings me to the second thing; I’m not certain it was just this guy’s playthrough or not, but it bugged me that the Dark Side was not only used as a significant power up, but seemed necessary to complete the final boss fight of the game without insta-dying. Obviously the Dark Side can feel like it’s more powerful in the moment, but the way the game seemed to passively encourage you to use it without consequence. Again, I haven’t played it, so I don’t know that for certain, but it certainly looks that way.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

I think the important thing to remember about Cal's story is that it's a video game and video games, by necessity, are going to be told a different way than the usual narrative. Cal is always going to have to kill a lot of enemies without it being that big of a deal because that's how these kinds of video games WORK. He's going to murder basically every stormtrooper and Imperial officer he comes across because that's the mechanics of the game. But we see that he offers the Ninth Sister mercy initially, he doesn't WANT to kill her, he only does so because she begs him to and it's more merciful to kill her than leave her alive. It's not cold-blooded murder. Same with Bode, he doesn't WANT to kill Bode and he TRIES to get Bode to stop so that he doesn't have to, but Bode refuses and Cal has to defend himself.

If you want to try to look at a more in-narrative reason for why Cal kills a little more often, Cal is a Jedi in a time when it's a death sentence to be a Jedi and the support he has is incredibly minimal. NORMALLY, Jedi wouldn't kill this much, but Cal is openly a Jedi and openly fighting the Empire to the point that his face is displayed really prominently on wanted posters in the middle of Coruscant. He's a huge target and he's trying to take down a galactic Empire. That's not something you can do peacefully and it takes everything he has just to survive. He's not living in a time of peace nor does he have the support of a major organization like the Republic to back him up the way he was supposed to, so he can't necessarily get away with being more merciful here. So yeah, he's more willing to kill stormtroopers and Imperial officers when necessary on a mission (and it's OFTEN necessary). While I don't think that necessarily indicates bad writing or anything, I DO think that it makes sense that Cal, as someone who's been doing this for five years now, isn't holding back very much.

Also, the storyline in this game is all about Cal having to struggle with his own darkness. In Fallen Order it was more about Cal figuring out what it means to be a Jedi, he's going around helping people a lot and seeing how other people are fighting against the Empire. In Survivor, he's been Knighted already and he's been out there fighting for five years. Everyone he cared about has wandered off to do their own thing and he has to build up a new crew that are almost all immediately killed off, starting Cal's struggle with darkness and feeling abandoned and losing his hope. He's confident now, and he is slowly losing more and more of the things he started to rely on, and that comfort with killing evolves into his more literal struggle with the dark side and having to let go of his own anger and fear and pain. He CAN'T use darkness to kill, he can't kill out of anger. And that's exactly what he does. It's hard, he nearly loses it, but he's able to hold himself back just enough to keep himself from completely falling. So while I think it's UNDERSTANDABLE that Cal, as a Jedi openly fighting against the Empire during this time period, would be more willing to kill people than show mercy in order to complete a mission, it's also part of the overall story being told about Cal in this game.

For the final battle, you DO have to use the dark side power-up thing in the fight, but the fight itself is just game mechanics, the CUT SCENES are the important story bits. Cal wins that fight WITHOUT killing Bode, he makes a whole speech about letting go, and then he turns away and when he DOES kill Bode, it's not with the power-up, it's not out of anger, it's just basic self defense. It's not entirely unlike Obi-Wan vs Maul in TPM where Obi-Wan IS sort-of reacting out of anger and a desire for vengeance earlier on but has to let that go BEFORE he kills Maul. Luke COULD kill Vader out of anger, we see how close he gets, but he ultimately chooses not to because he recognizes he shouldn't. Cal's fight with Bode is following in those same footsteps narratively. He DOES pull on darkness during the fight, but he's ultimately able to let go and doesn't KILL Bode with that darkness at all. It's a pretty basic Jedi storyline we've seen a few times before.

When dealing with video games that are telling the story, it's very important to separate the video game mechanics from the actual story. Quite often, the story itself isn't told through the regular gameplay and the gameplay can even contradict the story we're being told. For example, if you keep playing Survivor after the final battle with Bode, you can STILL USE THE DARK SIDE POWER UP even though Cal has NARRATIVELY moved away from that darkness already and would theoretically not actually be using it anymore at all and certainly not in like... regular little battles against the local wildlife. You can also obviously utilize it that way between the moment you DO get the power-up and the final battle, even though Merrin has already talked about how dangerous it is and asked Cal not to use it. The power-up in game mechanics is JUST a power-up, it has no character impact at all to use it. It's just another tool in your arsenal until you get to the cut scenes. What the dialogue is telling us is almost directly contradicted by how the gameplay works.

Hopefully this helps you a little. I like the characters and the story enough that I'm willing to sort-of work with what they give me to create a narrative that fits the way I want it to. I think there's a good story in Survivor about the impact of being a survivor of a genocide and having to fight against the people who want you dead for YEARS. I generally like the way that's handled and the messages being sent in this story. I think there's areas that are a little awkward and moments I like slightly less, but overall I really enjoyed it.

But, what would happen if a stardust being was forcibly made into a cannibal? Like force-fed another being's limb or core? I actually have an oc with a background like that! He's the original leader of the cult eclipse now rules over! He was more like a political puppet in the cult! Controlled by a small team and used to maintain power! Poor guy was just a kid (young adult) when they snatched him and made him eat cores! One of the classics, thought he was destined for greatness then found out he was lied to and used! He exploded! Kinda! It took an extreme amount of control to contain the energy in his body and one day he snapped! Killed the people who manipulated him and tried to destroy the entire cult! He expanded into space and now has a little galaxy he brought life to! He's slowly dying but at peace now!

next up is this guy!!! i went through...several cords trying to get my tablet to connect while i worked on this but here he is nonetheless! info below the cut once again

edward's parents wanted a daughter who was polite, patient, and well-behaved; someone to carry on their (so-called) respectable lineage. instead, they got a rude, loud-mouthed, and shockingly brilliant little girl who made it very clear he wouldn't be controlled.

it was clear from the start that school was... not for him. he was loud and inattentive, a smartass with no filter. a born problem child! but he wasn't trying to be troublesome; he just didn't understand. people, he would later learn, were just like puzzles. but this was one he couldn't solve yet.

in 6th grade he told his mom he was a boy; she told him he was being ridiculous and thought that'd be the end of it. eddie nashton, having named himself that day, felt otherwise. so he cut his hair and quit trying to please people. they thought he was obnoxious? good! they're all just jealous!

school was hell, between bullies and his own, rapidly declining mental health, but he bore it with a grin and eventually got out with a 4.0 gpa and a fuck-you to everyone. he changed his name to Edward Nygma, and vanished.

life on his own was... not easy, but eventually he scraped enough money together for his own place. then, his time was spent devouring every bit of news about the wave of heists that was hitting gotham, before supercrime was in fashion.

ed becomes obsessed with these crimes, how they were executed and, more importantly, how they failed. the criminals ALWAYS got caught! if they did it like this, they could've gotten away with it! then he thinks: hey, if i did it like this, i could get away with it! so, to prove how dumb these criminals are and because he's broke edward plans a heist.

it goes perfectly, until he's walking out the door. he knows he's done everything right but his head screams that he's going to be caught, unless he leaves something behind on purpose. so he scrawls a riddle on the floor and books it!!

they don't catch him. he'd left a CLUE, and those idiots still failed! with his ego in the stratosphere, he tries again! and again, and again, each time leaving a clue behind. the riddler hits the newspapers and, while he finds the name a bit silly, it's a kind of attention he didn't know he'd been dying for.

he upsizes. his crimes get more elaborate, until he's living in an apartment 2x the size, and everyone has heard the riddler's name. then he slips up, and the cops show up during his next exploit. he panics, takes a hostage, and sets off on a grandiose speech about how they're all BUGS, insignificant compared to the enigma. this buys him time to flee!

he tries to lay low, and finds he can't stop himself. he goes mad with the tedium of regular life, fearing he'll lose his mind if he doesn't do something.

so the riddler returns full-force, evolved into much more than a petty robber, and much more than anyone ever expected of him.

I have a question: How do you humanely keep bug types out of your garden? I have some bug types that eat some of the herbs I'm growing and they get aggressive when i come over to get them off of my plants, even my gogoat Barney (He evolved earlier than he should have) has startled to attack them on sight when they tried to attack him just for going to his water trough.

I just want to de-escalate the situation before my neighbors' kids get hurt when visiting to play in the treehouse in my backyard... (not time sensitive and they look like a group of weedle, wurmple, and caterpie)

one way to do this while not potentially hurting the kids or your gogoat is to use natural repellants! diluted citrus oils are great at keeping off caterpie, who dislike the smell and flavor.

weedle and wurmple are a little tougher, as they'll ignore a lot of bug-repelling scents and can even neutralize some pesticides. this is where you'll want to plant flowers that attract birds like taillow and pidgey! sunflowers and marigolds are just a couple options. these guys will help scare off bug types. you can also see if your garden can support kebia berries, which poison pokemon tend not to love.

One thing that struck me was that on learning the shadow king was back Lorna specifically asked for her brother and shot down seeing her father. She was even reluctant to tell Wanda what was happening until Pietro convinced her.

What was going on in her head at that moment and how do you feel about her respective relationships with her father and siblings (In the story and in cannon)

Okay so one of the big things here is that Lorna and Pietro have both had pivotal moments in their stories where they were mind controlled and made to do things that hurt people they cared about and neither of them really ever got a whole lot of support in recovering from that. And Pietro is, for all his faults, incredibly protective and incredibly loving of his sisters and while Lorna has spent a LOT of time pushing back against that protectiveness because she really and truly can handle herself and she and Pietro don't have that kind of history where he's seen her almost burned at the stake etc etc.... this is a moment where she wants someone to be ride or die in her corner and to be ride or die in her corner after it's all said and done even if she is controlled again...... and Pietro's fatal flaw is loyalty. She wanted someone who would come in and try to make it better even though there was nothing they could do, and she knew that if she called Pietro would come running. It's more an act of desperation than of familial love? But it's something that's really going to set the stage as the story progresses for how their relationship is going to evolve. We also know that Lorna is very afraid of seeming weak in front of her father- he has these grand expectations of her and when she doesn't meet his impossible standards she cracks under that weight and for as much as I love Erik and as much as I appreciate the steps he's taken to repair his relationship with her, being his daughter is not easy. And with Wanda, they arguably have the easier relationship within this group of siblings, where it really has become more genuinely sisterly and almost...dare I say? normal? But Wanda isn't really involved in X-Men stuff and hasn't really been to any grand extent barring her intro and M-Day (and much more recently Trial of Magneto)- her very presence on Krakoa is enough to inspire hatred and anger, with the Shadow King there Wanda as a first choice is probably not smart, and Wanda herself has so much baggage with mutantkind thanks to M-Day that it puts her in a weird position too.

I'm playing a lot with Wanda, Lorna, and Pietro's relationships with each other and with their father. I feel like Pietro is very underutilized and that he's not taken seriously by writers or by fans and so I really wanted to build on this Lorna-Pietro relationship that was starting to get established in All New X-Factor and to really kind of I guess force my readers to remember that Pietro isn't a bad guy? Which sounds stupid bc he's a hero but like people don't read for Pietro and take wildly ooc shit as fact. Like it's important to me that my readers know that it was Pietro who pushed for he and Wanda to leave the Brotherhood, and that Pietro tries so so so hard for his family and just wants to keep his sisters and daughter safe and that like he is a victim of much of the same trauma as Wanda and he's allowed to have responses to it without being whiny or having to get over it (no matter what Wanda said in Quicksilver: No Surrender).

she’s a bit more independent than my other pokemon, and only really is affectionate towards me.. but when she wants attention she’s really clingy!! she just sits on my lap while i do work or something

overall she isn’t that hard to manage compared to my other pokemon (especially my pidgey i caught back in kanto.. he’s so hard to deal with ಥ‿ಥ)

she’s also a shiny?? forgot to mention earlier but it’s pretty cool imo.. :0

Swsh isn’t badly written you guys just completely ignore every non-required area and text box. You wouldn’t know environmental storytelling if it whacked you upside the head.

Paul was the best anime rival, no one stands up to him. His character arc was the best written, his battles had the highest stakes, and best of all he wasn’t fucking annoying!

Iris was the worst anime companion, by far. She did nothing but bully Ash the entire season despite being awful at her own chosen trainer path and it ruined it for me. Girl don’t sit around talking shit when you suck ass at everything!

Fairy should have been weak to bug. Fairy was introduced to be a balancing type by being weak to lesser used types and immune to the strongest type and then made bug WORSE? Fuck off. That makes no sense and it doesn’t even work that well in lore. It could go either way and make just as much sense.

Vanilluxe isn’t even ugly you guys are just haters for no reason AND I think it should get a really cool mega in Z-A based on a sundae and become extremely powerful and viable because FUCK YOU

The Machop line however IS ugly. You do not get to be mad about Incineroar or Meowscarada being too humanoid when that is literally just a man in his undies, and he’s not even cute. Machamp gets a half pass cause the extra arms make it less uncanny but the weird ring around the mouth needs to go, the shorts need to be better integrated into the design (I think gigantimax machamp does a good job of this by blending them down into the color of the legs) and the shinies of the entire line need to be literally any other color but puke green. Either make them all bright green like machamp or skip the green entirely and go dark red. Or a dark gray. Or blue!

Speaking of shinies, green shinies get too much hate. Espeon and teddiursa are cool. Meanwhile yellow shinies usually don’t look yellow at all they look chartreuse and sickly. Like Groudon! Groudon should have a goldenrod color not that abysmal eyesore.

Haxorous did NOT make the jump to 3D well. It just looks a little off and I can’t get over it.

And anyway here’s my regularly scheduled rant about some bullshit because I’m replaying Sword rn and tried to use more mobs I haven’t used before and came across some. Weird bullshit.

Did you know that in swsh ninjask doesn’t learn a single flying type move by level up once it evolves? What the fuck kind of decision was that???? give me SOMETHING I’m DYING OVER HERE.

It technically DOES get Aerial ace by level up but it’s one if those “level 1” moves that you have to get at the move reminder which I forgot was accessible from the start in this game. So I did a bunch of watt grinding yesterday to get a play rough TR for my Tsareena for my Bea fight for no reason and STILL nearly got swept?

And anyway why is that the only one it gets? Why is talking to an npc a requirement to get the ONLY flying move in this Pokémon’s level up moves. Why doesn’t it learn a flying type move upon evolving or in the levels directly after like any normal mon would upon gaining the flying type? It feels really weird and unnecessary. Just swap out the agility level up move for aerial ace, this mon has speed boost it doesn’t need agility.

And then in TM moves it only gets aerial ace (which it already has anyway) air slash (special aka useless on this mom) and acrobatics, Those are its only flying moves which is its better offensive typing! It learns DIG but not fly, peck, wing attack, or pluck?

And in BDSP it’s tm moves get kneecapped! It LOOSES acrobatics and air slash! WHY???? FOR WHAT REASON??? Like sure, it has ROOST and DEFOG now but those DONT DO DAMAGE????

It would have been better for the tms to be roost and acrobatics in the first place. Those are actually useful. But it doesn’t ever get both in gen 8. I could build a seriously annoying ninjask with a focus sash/a berry, roost, acrobatics, leech life, and aerial ace. Pop the sash or berry so acrobatics is increased, aerial ace never misses, leech life and roost heal me. Leech life alone makes it much less of a glass cannon, could you imagine if it got ALL of these moves at once? We were robbed. You can’t give us improved leech life and then not let us build the most annoying asshole bug ever!

And most of its sound based moves are relegated to tm only which is weird considering it’s a CICADA, the bug primarily known for being LOUD. Like they aren’t useful cause they’ve special moves but it should get bug buzz by level up at least. Having screech be its only sound based level up move is just a weird choice, lore wise.

Also its other level up moves are trash. Mind reader is made completely redundant by aerial ace, and doesn’t even make much sense lore wise, it gets like maybe 6 moves between evolving and its last move which ends up being one move every 10 levels or so which is mid at best, and its best bug stab is learned at level 64… or tm which you’ll almost always be doing instead.

Mind reader should be replaced by bug buzz, and there should be another move at around 38-40 that should probably be a coverage move like shadow claw or night slash. It has precedent for learning grass moves too so leaf blade is an option as well though it’s a little bit more powerful so I’d swap its placement with Slash at lv. 50

Anyway quit kneecapping otherwise usable pokemon with nonsensical movesets.
