SLBP OCs and dealing with feelings time~ Aka I posted this to twitter so here it is in one place~ 

Long post with a healthy warning for angst and generally unhealthy thought patterns under the cut!

Miyu’s method for dealing with her feelings is to pretend she’s not having them until it boils over. Then she shuts down completely. Feelings can be used against you. Feelings are particularly useless to a shinobi. Even if she isn’t that good at most of it.

Aimi’s mouth goes a mile a minute when she’s trying to hide something that’s hurting her. If she’s overly chatty and cheerful, it can’t hurt...? It’s fine, it’s fine. She’s tearing up from yawning, from being tired from anything other than her heart hurting.

Tsukiko buries her feelings in work. Sewing when she’s angry, cooking when she’s on the verge of tears. Anything to keep moving so she doesn’t become a burden. She’s cracked before in front of Shingen, yes. But those are cracks that she patches up quickly with an attempted smile.

Hiroko’s the most vocal, sobbing her heart out or bouncing off the walls with joy. If she’s quiet? She’s processing. Processing and trying to see if maybe she’s swinging too far in either direction and if such an outburst is bothering the folks in Oshu.

Suzume’s a bonfire at the best of times, if she’s upset someone’s going to hear about it. At least until it’s insecurities and nagging thoughts of not being good enough. That’s when she goes quiet, retreats for a few hours to regroup or winds up in Oda’s bed rather than talking.

An aside for this but, Mitsuhide as thirsty as he is, is very much indirectly responsible for the times Suzume does falter. She can handle outsiders scoffing at her for having the audacity to marry a samurai and a lord at that but for someone she considered a friend to throw those same barbs? That’s when she starts wondering if she wouldn’t have been better served remaining as a maid, returning to the capital basically anywhere BUT Owari and Nobunaga’s bed. The outsiders don’t know her, but Mitsuhide’s a friend. Right?

Kiyoko absolutely 100% cries while her temper runs wild. If she’s hurt then the world’s gonna know. If she’s upset? Whoever’s guilty is going to know about it even if she’s a sobbing mess while she’s doing it. Angry? Cry. Sad? Cry harder. Happy? More tears.

Hikari loves silence with her feelings, a cold shoulder for whoever’s annoyed her, mild mind games until they figure out what they did and HOW. Sarcasm is her friend and shield, more than the tears that come if people press hard enough. She’s hurting, and that makes her spiteful.

Hibiki’s feelings are kept at arm’s length in a locked box under everything in her closet. They’re something OUTSIDE of herself. Outside of everything and nothing she deserves to sort out. She’s a manipulative mess, she gets people hurt when she fools them into loving her or so she thinks. Then again it must be true. Look at her family, her friends, they get hurt because they care and it’s clearly because she believes she’s manipulating them into caring.

There any other people who have played multiple Riders?

Y’know? That’s a good question. There’s more than you might think. Maybe technicalities involved in some cases. But it is rare! Feel free to toss in any I missed in the reblogs. I’m not really counting any Showa stuff since I’m not well enough informed on that era. 

Shingo Kawaguchi, who played Todoroki in Hibiki, appeared later on in Wizard as one of the people who would transform into Mage. Not only are both series headed by the same writer, but the Mage he transforms into uses a green gem, matching Todoroki’s dark green suit, and he even uses the Thunder ring which is relevant to Todoroki’s motif. Clever stuff. 

Yuichi Nakamura is best known now as Zeronos in Den-O, but before that, he was an unlikable rival to the protag of Hibiki - the kid protag, not the titular Rider. Please do not judge my precious Hibiki for the retooling of its second half. In the show, he eventually became a Rider who was just known as “Transformed Kyosuke” but later on received the Rider name Kyoki. 

Kazuki Kato delighted all with his makeup skills as Drake in Kabuto, then went on to play V3 in Kamen Rider The Next, the gritty retake of the Showa era Riders - which is one of those technicalities I mentioned, since it’s a reboot. 

Here’s another technicality, and a strange one at that. In Kiva’s movie, we have a character played by Shouma Yamamoto, who transforms into the movie-exclusive Rey. This actor went on to be in the show as Saga, meaning the actor played two different characters/Riders within the same series… and I don’t think there’s any real reason for it. 

Here’s a real weird one, which I just learned via Shouma Yamamoto. Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, the US adaptation of Kamen Rider Ryuki, had a Japanese dub - you’d think it would be a redundant process of having Ryuki’s actors dubbed in, but only a few actually did. Have a look at what previous Riders voiced which Dragon Knight Riders: 

Satoshi Matsuda: Knight (Ryuki) > Wing Knight 

Hiroshi Kamiya: Ghost Imagin/Yuuki (Den-O) > Sting 

Kenji Matsuda: Zanki (Hibiki) > Camo 

Shouma Yamamoto: Rey (Kiva) > Thrust 

Ryouta Murai: Kuuga (Decade version) > Spear 

Miyuki Sawashiro: Kiva-la (Decade) > Siren

I’ll also add that this list would be longer if the question was “Have previous Rider actors appeared as non-Riders?” or vice-versa. But I’m not answering that since that requires way more research. Ryuga in Build was previously a character in Amazons, so that’s relevant to this blog at least!

Premium Bandai has recently opened an official pre-order page for S.H.Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Kamen Rider Todoroki. For those who are not aware, Kamen Rider Todoroki is one of the main riders in Kamen Rider Hibiki. By using the Henshin Kigen Onjou, Todoroki is able to transform into his rider form. The device was also by Zanki to transform into Kamen Rider Zanki. The device was also by Zanki to transform into Kamen Rider Zanki.

His relationship with Aizawa is a little rocky. He still looks up to him as a role model, even though he'd never admit it, but he's a tad bitter over what happened and blames him completely for it.

As for Hizashi...

It's a little more complicated.

wrt hibiki - how did aizawa straight up losing their kid affect the relationship between him and hizashi? also trans aizawa life hell yeah

Hizashi has always been one to support Shouta in his grief, but it hit him pretty hard too. He just didnt choose to show it for Shouta's sake.

They both have been taking extra patrol shifts to look for him every night, but the short time they get to rest, Hizashi cant really get himself to sleep. Shouta is dead tired from how hard he ends up working himself, and Hizashi has to be the one to convince him to come home and rest.

During those sleepless nights, he thinks. He still loves him, but...

It still hurts. He can't help but be a little angry... Hizashi was involved in the fight that pulled Shouta away from Hibiki in the first place, and was having his ass handed to him, so of course he needed help, but...
