It was July, and the hot summer air was inviting. Penny and her friends were all playing a game inside. She had decided to have a small get together. For the most part, it had been fun. Penny and Hero, along with Penny's two other friends, Jazzy and Mikayla, were playing a game of twister. It was late, and the stars were out. The noise inside had become too much for Violet, so she decided to sit on Penny's trampoline outside. The stars were nice, and since Penny had a lot of grass, the lightning bugs looked pretty in the tall grass. She had even taken the liberty to hold one in her hand.

"I'm gonna step out real quick." Wilbur said to Hero, trying to call his mom. He stepped out on Penny's back porch, typing away on his phone before he stopped. There was the faint sound of someone laughing. Wilbur looked around before his eyes landed on Violet, sitting on the trampoline. He was quiet as he made his way over to her, wanting to see what she laughing at. As he got closer, he saw her holding something in her hand. He wasn't sure what it was though. Unzipping the entrance of the trampoline, Wilbur climbed in, trying his hardest not to shake the trampoline too much.

"Hey." Wilbur whispered, making his way over to Violet. She looked at him quickly and smiled, before gesturing to her hands.

"They're calm right now." She said as he sat next to her. She tilted her hands slightly and some of the lightning bugs went from her hands to his. Wilbur cringed internally, before noticing how calm Violet had been.

"How long have you been out here?" He whispered to her. She shrugged, before leaning to the side shaking the bugs off her hands. They flew away quickly, calmly though. Wilbur copied her movements and the bugs did the same.

"A few minutes. I came out after the movie finished." Violet said, before Wilbur scoffed.

"Vi that was like an hour ago." Wilbur said, and her eyes went wide.

"It didn't feel like an hour." She said, and he leaned back on his elbows, before staring at the sky.

"Eh, maybe because you were just here by yourself." Wilbur said, watching as Violet laid down next to him, on her back. He took notice of how her hair fanned out around her, given how shiny it was, he could see it clearly.

"Is there something on my face?" She asked, nervous. Wilbur shook his head, before laying back further.

"No." He said, looking up. The stars were bright out, and he mentally took the time to savor the view. Living in the city didn't give him this sight all the time, unless he went to his fathers lab.

"Is that a plane or a star? I cant tell." Violet said, squinting a bit as she pointed. Wilbur looked before shrugging.

"Looks like a star to me." He said, before looking at her. What he didn't expect was her to look at him too. He blushed, being caught in the act of staring at her.

"You sure there's not something on my face?" She asked, her voice quiet. He didn't answer her quick, instead, just continued looking at her. He began to notice all her features, how big her eyes were, the way they shine and reflect the stars. He notices her brows and the way they curve, and how they begin to furrow the only he stares at her. 

"You're really pretty." He says, his voice just as quiet. She blushes, and fights the small smile that comes forms on her face. She tries to hide behind her hair. She's nervous, growing shy on him. 

"Is it bad to say I'm nervous right now?" She asked, her hair falling over the side of her face. Wilbur leaned over, now laying on his side, and she did the same. He brushed the hair out of her face, and over her shoulder. 

"No, nothing is bad with you." He said, and he didn't realize how sappy it had sounded until the words were said aloud. "Is it weird to say I'm nervous?" He asked, before she let out a laugh, shaking her head. 

"Why are you nervous? You're the one sweet talking me." She said, her voice still low. He grinned, before looking to the trampoline, not sure where to look. 

"That doesn't mean I can't be nervous." He said, finally looking back to her. Only then did he realize how close they were. So close, if he had moved a little closer, their noses could touch. 

"At least I'm not the only one." She said, and smiled. He felt his face heat up, and she saw it too. 

"Would it be awkward if I asked you something?" He asked, and she shook her head, never once dropping her smile. 

"You just did." She said, and he chuckled. "But sure, ask away." She said. He grew serious for a second, and upon the change, she did too. 

"Can I kiss you?" He asked, and held his breath, waiting for her to answer. She thought for a moment, letting the silence fill the air, the only thing being heard were the crickets. 

"Please." She said, her voice just above a whisper. She was nervous even more now, as she'd never had her first kiss. She'd always though he might've. His movements were slow, almost cautious, as if he was scared to touch her. He couldn't stop the rate his heart was beating at. His hand moved to cup her cheek, which she seemed to enjoy as she leaned into his touch. The smile on her face was unforgettable, and as they both leaned in, the fireflies filled the air, flying higher into the sky. Violets heart had almost burst out of her chest when their lips finally touched, and she tried her hardest to keep calm. His lips were softer than she imagined, and when they pulled away they simply stared at each other. Quickly, she began to overthink. 'Maybe he regrets it?' She thought, until he started to laugh. "W-whats so funny?" She asked, and he stood, jumping around now. Violet laughed, moving with the trampoline, moving to sit down. 

"Nothings funny! But, I just kissed the girl of my dreams!" He shouted, running over to her and pulling her up by her hands. She giggles as he jumped around with her, going on about how happy he was. "Oh Vi' you dont understand." He said running in circles as she stood in the middle. By now, his hair was a mess, and he was sure he looked insane running around like this. He jumped, before wrapping her in a hug, peppering kisses all over her face. She was a giggling mess, as no one had showed her this much love before. 

"Wilbur, you're acting like you won the lottery." Violet said laughing, hugging him back. 

"I might as well have!" He said, now starting to calm down. "I can finally tell Carl I'm a man now." He said, staring down at her. 

"Carl knew?" She asks, and he scoffs, his hands moving to rest on the small over her back now. 

"Of course he knew. Everyone in my house knows, especially my mom." He said with a roll of his eyes. Her eyes widened, before she smiled. 

"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked, her hands moving to style his hair again, considering how out of place it all was. 

"Because, well... that is an excellent question." He said, and she laughed, louder this time, before her hands rested on his shoulders. " I just, didn't want to ruin our friendship. Make it weird I guess." He said. 

"Well I don't think we did." She said, before he just smiled, leaning his head on her shoulder. 

"So, are we still friends?" He asked, nervous. What if she didn't actually like him? Did she want it to be just a one time thing? Caught in the moment type of situation? 

"Do friends kiss each other?" She asked, the reality of the situation setting in. 

"Some do." He said with a laugh, and she chuckled. "We could just, let things happen." He offered. She seemed comfortable with this idea, lifting his face before kissing his cheek. He smiled, watching her face turn red. 

"Sure, we could do that." 

That was the first time they kissed each other. It definitely hadn't been the last, since it was all Wilbur could do for the next week when the two of them hung out.

"So was that everyone on your little Nerd Team?"

Hiro asked cheekily as he stood beside his brother, helmet in hand. They had just stepped out of the Institute, after meeting everyone, and were about to head home. His older brother grinned and nodded, putting his own helmet on.

"Yup!" He started the Moped as he counted his friends on his fingers one by one.

"Gogo. Fred. Honey. Wasabi. And..." His eyes widened with disbelief with a hint of fear, as he paled and breathed out.

"Oh crap!"

Hiro's smile widened all the more when his brother was almost immediately cut off by a loud shout from the top of the stairs.

"Tadashi Hamada!"

Both brothers turned to look at the stairs where a figure was walking towards them, their steps quick and determined. Tadashi seemed to shrink where he sat on his mopped, while his younger brother, with his helmet still on, waved excitedly.

"Hiya Sakura!"

Immediately a bright smile was directed towards him.

"Hello Hiro!"

The younger boy was then swept into a giant bear hug by the girl. She lifted him off his feet, the both of them laughing before she deposited him back on the ground looking at him, her eyes shining.

"Oh its so good to see you! Its been almost three days since I last saw you. I was worried when I got Tadashi's text about the Bot Fight. Why did you even go there anyway? No wait! What were you thinking?! For being a smart kid that was pretty dangerous and stupid Hiro."

As she spoke she started to turn his head around, eyeing him from head to toe.

"You're not hurt are you? If it were up to me I would glue that helmet to your head."

She laughed rapping her knuckles smartly against the object. Worry and concern was written all over the older girl's face as she inspected him for any kind of bruises or even a scratch.

"Seriously are you okay though?"

Her voice was soft, violet eyes laced with concern as she looked at Hiro in the eye.

"I'm okay, Sakura!"

Hiro said pushing her hands away gently, with a grin. He knew how the older girl could get with him. She was always checking up on him and making sure he was eating properly and sleeping well. Whenever he was about to try out one of his new inventions she would make sure to be just around the table, that was put up to protect them if need be, with a first aid kit and a fire extinguisher. He didn't mind though. He loved the attention and Sakura loved to take care of him. Smiling lightly Sakura stood up straight, ruffling his hair, making it messier than ever.

"I know you're okay, Squirt!"

Hiro protested laughingly batting away her hands.

"H-hey Sa-kura."

A small voice called out. The girl turned, her long pony tail swishing around her head with the movement, to look at the older Hamada brother, her face completely devoid of any emotion. Beside her the younger Hamada brother grinned slyly as he stood behind the black haired girl, partly hidden. His eyes relayed a single message to the victim.

"You are so dead, bro!"

Au ranting time for @g4v1nsgun ✨✨✨ (sorry i took a a while)

So everyone knows both of these groups right, rotbtd and the futuristic four

Yeah we all know them

To my complete surprise there is little to no content with all eight of them, which is crazy cuz this being a crossover fandom i assumed people would go nuts for a team up

So i decided to do it myself, and i introduce them as: The Elite Eight (ft a mediocre edit)

The team dynamics would work the same way they would as in their regular settings, i.e.:

Hiccup and Penny are the voices of reason, Merida and Wilbur are the thrill seekers etc etc

Only difference is now that the group is basically 4 freshmen and 4 juniors we have the classic Mentor and Student dynamic

As for the world building, to sum it up rq. It’s a modern/futuristic with magic universe combining brave, tangled/tts, bh6, bolt, mtr, the incredibles(1-2) and elements of rotg and httyd (specifically race to the edge)

Things like dragons, wisps, and magic all exist, but in a percy jackson type fashion. Only specific people can see these things ykwim

The movies are all canon (not rotg, for reasons to be elaborated on later) but with a modern twist, to be explained below:

As for ROTG, the whole “guardians of childhood” thing isn’t in this au because i couldn’t make it work. So for a modern retelling of that, tldr Jack is basically a teen in the foster system with major amnesia. The guardians are as they were but they’re not “guardians”, more like Jacks new foster family that also happen to be a bunch of magical creatures and myths.

The guardians and their house are basically a fusion of professor xaviors mansion/school for mutants(X-Men), the house in The Grimm Sisters, the treehouse in The Last Kids On Earth and the camp in Percy Jackson.

As for the superhero aspect, Violet and Hiro are gonna get the Peter Parker treatment. They’re hiding things from everyone else, which is crazy because everyone in the group is hiding something and i think that’s super funny

Chapter one: Notes

Chapter 2

The music is loud as Violet brushes her hair, making sure everything is perfect. Today's the first day of the schools spirit week. They're supposed to be dressing up as a celebrity. So, Penny and Violet decided to have matching costumes. Violet would be Marceline from Adventure time, and Penny would be Princess Bubblegum. Thankfully, Violet didn't need to put that much effort into the face makeup, her pale skin being a perfect base for the light makeup she had done.

Penny however, was a different story entirely. She had gotten up at five in the morning, straightening the wig she had gotten and had basically looked like she was dipped into a bucket of pink paint. She had even ordered a crown similar to hers the week prior. She was prepared, and had even left her house an extra ten minutes early to make sure she got to school before everyone else did, so her outfit and hair didn't get ruined so quickly.

This year, Wilbur and Hiro decided to dress up as Men in Black, even though Hero had never seen the movies. Still, the two had arrived to school in black suits, matching ID cards and black glasses.

"Didn't we do that last year?" Penny asked as she saw the two boys. They all stood near her locker, now waiting for Violet.

"No, you guys did this for middle school. We do it better though." Wilbur says with a grin, and Hiro laughs nodding. Penny rolls her eyes and fixes her locker door to fix her hair in her mirror.

"Who are you supposed to be?" Hiro asks her as she fixes her crown.

"Princess Bubblegum from Adventure time. Violet is Marceline." Penny says, before checking her teeth to make sure they're white.

"Marceline is the vampire one right?" Wilbur asks, plucking a pack of gum out of Pennys locker.

"Yep!" Says Violet, approaching the three. Violet is dressed in white jeans, a red and white sports jacket with a grey shirt underneath.

"This doesn't look like a costume." Hiro says pointing to the two. Wilbur nods.

"Yeah, it just looks like Violet being Violet and then Penny living a barbie fantasy." Wilbur says, before the two boys laugh. Violet rolls her eyes and pinched Wilbur's arm to get him to stop laughing. "Ow!" He says, backing away.

"I think we look amazing, thank you." Penny says, and Violet nods.

"Didn't we dress up as Men in Black first?" Violet says as she looks at the two boys. Hiro groans.

"You guys did it in middle school." Hiro says, before Violet snickers.

"How unoriginal." She says, before pointing to another group down the hall, also in black suits.

"At least we stand out." Penny says, before Wilbur shrugs.

"I'd rather blend in than look like Barbies own personal doll." Wilbur says, before Penny shuts her locker.

"Ha ha, very funny." She says sarcastically. The four begin to walk down the hall, making small talk as they all go to their first period classes. Thankfully, they're right next to each other. Penny and Hiro on the left, which is the classroom in the corner of the hall, and Wilbur and Violet on the right, in the middle of the hall. The girls say they're goodbyes, walking into their classrooms while the two boys stand outside for an extra three seconds doing their handshake.

Violet sits at her desk, which is technically just a lab table. She puts her headphones on, changing the setting to transparency on them so she can still hear the teacher, and gets her notebook out. Wilbur takes his seat next to her, before realizing he doesn't have a pencil.

"Hey, Vi." Wilbur whispers, nudging her lightly with his elbow.

"Yeah?" She whispered back, before Wilbur pointed to her pencil case next to her.

" Can I borrow a pencil?" He asks, and she nods, plucking one from the case and giving it to him. He tried quickly to copy the notes off the board, but fails when his teacher changes the slide. So, he starts to copy off of Violet. It's only then he notices the small doodles on the sides of her page, and how neat and cursive her letters are.

Quickly, Wilbur flips his page and writes. 'I didn't know you could write in cursive' before sliding it over to her. It takes her a moment to notice the notebook is there, but when she reads it, she writes on the page underneath his original statement.

'i've always written in cursive, it's nicer.' She writes back, and he smiles before writing again.

'it looks complicated, can you teach me? :)' He scribbles, before sliding it quickly to her.

'If I teach you, don't be annoying about it.' She writes.

'When am I ever annoying about anything?'

'When are you not?' He reads from her, her cursive letters are pretty in all their glory. He smiles, before writing.

'That , is an excellent question.' He says, and watched her carefully as she reads it. He feels himself smile watching her laugh at his response.

The first few periods had gone by relatively quick, and lunch was quickly approaching. Violet had suffered a good forty five minutes through gym, Penny had gone through a geometry quiz, Hiro had to present a science project and Wilbur had to give an excuse as to why his wasn't done.

Penny and Wilbur had sat at their usual table, waiting for Hiro to finish getting his lunch, and waiting for Violet to come back from gym.

"Twenty seven questions. Who puts twenty seven questions on a geometry quiz? Before break? What kind of evil witch does that?" Penny rants and Wilbur nods, peeling his orange.

" Well did you fail?" Wilbur asks, handing Penny a piece of his orange.

"I don't know. I only remembered like, half of what we actually went over." Penny said with a sigh, taking a bite of the orange.

"Then you got half a grade, not too bad." Wilbur said, before Hiro slammed his lunch tray on the table, leaning in to whisper to Penny and Wilbur.

"Guys! Violet just walked in with Brick Jojo!" Hiro said, before nodding toward the entrance of the lunchroom. There stood Violet, holding her books close to her chest while Brick was talking? grinning from ear to ear. She had her hair in front of her face, a shy smile on her features. Hiro huffed, opening his milk carton is stubborn movements.

"Hiro, why don't you just tell Vi you like her? I'm sure she'll feel the same." Penny said, sipping her juice pouch. Wilbur stared curiously at Violet and Brick, before turning back to Hero.

"What would I even say? 'Oh hey I've liked you for a while now, so I know I just ruined our friendship but yeah', who says that?!" Hiro said, obviously panicking.

"Dude, if anything just try to get her away from him." Wilbur said with a shrug, eating an orange slice.

"Then that would make me a bad friend." Hiro said and Penny nodded.

"True. I don't know, either confess, or just support her from afar." Penny said, before Hiro shushed her.

"She's coming over, with him." Hiro whispered, before Wilbur changed the subject.

"So, did anyone see the guy in the huge dinosaur costume? He got yelled at by one of the teachers for getting stuck in the doorway." Wilbur said casually as Violet sat down, waving goodbye to Brick as he went to sit at his own table.

"Hey guys." Violet said, placing her books next to her, pulling out a tray of crackers from her bag.

" Hey Vi." Hiro said, trying to ignore the tension. Penny inhaled before blurting it out.

"So Vi, what was that about?" She asked, leaning on her elbow to grin at Violet. She blushed and hid behind her hair again, before laughing a bit.

"Nothing really, he was just asking me if I wanted to go out later." Violet said, taking a cracker out of her tray.

"Did he say what he wanted?" Asked Wilbur, eating another orange slice. Hiro was observant.

"He asked if I wanted to see a movie later." Violet said, and Penny nudged her with a smile.

"Oh? I think he asked you on a date." Penny said, before Violet blushed.

"I wouldn't call it that, I don't know." Violet said, and Penny knew why she was unsure. Penny had her suspicions, but knew Violet liked someone else. Even though she didn't tell her who, she knew Brick wasn't the one she wanted.

"Did you say yes?" Hiro asked, and Violet nodded.

"Yeah, why not. We wouldn't be alone, his brothers are going with their girlfriends. So it would be fine I guess." Violet said, and Penny nodded. Wilbur and Hiro were quiet, Hiro thinking over what she just said, and Wilbur staring at Bricks table. His brothers and him were known for causing trouble. Why would Violet want to go out with someone like that?

"So a hang out?" Wilbur asked, and violet nodded.

"I still don't know what movie we're seeing though." Violet said, and Penny pulled her phone out.

"I can check the showings for tonight, that way you know if you're gonna be bored or not." Penny said, opening her movie app to see the showings. Violet looked over her should, Hiro took his notebook out from his bag and flipped the pages, turning to Wilbur to ask for ideas on his new robot.

Hiro knew what he was going to do later. He planned on getting help, so going over his plans were important, especially with Wilbur.
