I’ve finished Fool’s Fate by Robin Hobb! That’s the Tawny Man Trilogy down. Just the rest of the series to go! I’ve already spoken about how much I love @therealrobinhobb and this book was an amazing conclusion to a heartbreaking trilogy. Without getting too spoilery, the ending of this book was very hopeful in contrast to all the pain and heartbreak the characters endured in the previous two. I feel like the mostly happy ending we got this time will be completely shattered when we next get to Fitz in the final trilogy! Read these books if you like fantasy and books! A few chapters into re-reading Ship of Magic for the @Hobbsquad marathon and I find myself really focused on Wintrow’s story this time around. This trilogy is one of my favourites because it’s so rich in themes and different characters, there’s always some new angle to look at the story. Also knowing now the “conclusion” to all of it, I’m keeping an eye on Wintrow from a “what if” perspective. 😉 No spoilers! 🐉 ⚓️

Readathon Madness

In a moment of madness, I decided to take part in not 1 readathon but 3! I have no idea whats come over me. One of the readathons is focused on reading as many very large books as possible so this is not going to be quick or easy. Fortunately some of the challenges in each readathon do match so I can use one book for two separate readathons-Yay!

Tome Topple is run by Sam from @thoughtsontomes, which will run from the 4th-17th of August. This is a readathon focused on reading books that are 500 pages and up. For more details and the challenges, please watch Sam’s video here.

The Reading Quest

This readathon is being run by Aentee from @readatmidnight and it sounds extremely cool and will be running from the 13th August -10th September. This will be a themed readathon based on video games. I took part in her Pokemon themed readathon last year and had so much fun. The challenges are based on character class and you gain XP and HP for the books and challenges completed. Challenge 2: Knit One , Girl Two by  by Shira Glassman (I checked, knit is a verb)

Challenge 3: Chimes At Midnight (October Daye series, book 7) by Seanan McGuire (she has a dagger)

Challenge 4:  American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Challenge 5: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot (movie to be released this year)

There is nothing more satisfying than a stack of books from the same series. 😍 I still have to wait a year for the UK mass paperback edition of Assassin's Fate BUT look how pretty! I absolutely adore these covers designed by Jackie Morris and I can't wait to complete this set. These books make up @therealrobinhobb's #RealmoftheElderlings series, my favourite high fantasy series of all time. You can read them as separate trilogies (with one tetralogy) but they're all interconnected. If you've ever wondered which book to start with and in what order to read them in, this post is for you! From top to bottom, they are: The Farseer trilogy, The Liveship Traders trilogy, The Tawny Man trilogy, The Rain Wild Chronicles, and the Fitz and the Fool trilogy. I know, it's intimidating. You're probably wondering if you'll ever read all of them, but I can almost guarantee that after reading the first two trilogies, you're going to crave more. 😉 This is one of the most well-written series out there. I'm 99.9% sure it has everything a reader could want in a book. It has fantasy (duh 😆), action, adventure, mystery, political intrigue, explorations of different cultures, religion, genders, diversity, strong female characters (that are not your stereotypical fighting machines), sea adventures (with pirates!), sea serpents, liveships (SENTIENT SHIPS), philosophical questions, romance, magical items, telepathy-based magic systems, and a massive serving of great characterization that will drown you in feels forever. PLUS DRAGONS in the most unique way I've seen them written. If I missed anything, my list should at least be enough to get your attention right?!
