Journey to Mor Pankh rerun already so I can write a piece on Kumar and Shamane and how they never could’ve been happy siblings but Kumar would’ve had a breakdown over not being able to direct her anger at him.
Shamane genuinely wanted nothing more than to be by Kumar’s side and grow up with her the second he found out she was his sister. In his flashback talking about her you could really tell that he was so dazzled like “huh I don’t really get why this cool researcher is here” but rationalized her as a friend of the family. Hell she IS his driving point. And he’s her driving point too. The second he found out that she was his SISTER? He ran away and that’s where his character story started. Which is such an important and noteworthy choice because not every character event is a backstory or tells you what a characters bond to another was.
And Kumar’s arcanum WAS strong. She MADE it strong. She wasn’t born with a gift like KB or Matilda and grew it, she had to start from what was implied to basically be nothing. Then she still became such an incredibly strong arcanists and diviner that she discovered a star far before anyone who was born with strong arcanum did. She needs more time and steps to channel a strong arcanum but KB inherited her techniques and her ability and she’s a POWERHOUSE. She throws a STAR at people and she learned that from Kumar!!! She didn’t start with talent but she built it up so far that it took basically two people on the level of someone she taught and raised from childhood to bring her down!! Even then Kumar didn’t suffer extreme of injury considering how bad a rebound on a spell like that has to be on the mental state.
Shamane was driven to the city purely because he sought out Kumar who sent him that letter. After living and learning his entire life out there he went out to find and her and I can only imagine how stoked he was. Cause he likely knew that Kumar would’ve resented him and looking at how she turned out he was the first one to understand and accept that the bridges between them were already burnt.
At the same time I can’t imagine how Kumar must’ve felt learning that the prodigal child her family tossed her aside for left them. I couldn’t begin to explain the kind or visceral bite that news must’ve had. She could’ve had everything with them and in a way she must’ve built up her arcanum, at least at first, so they might accept her one day. I would’ve grown to hate everything too.

the natsuyuu manga is so funny the volume will be like "natsume grapples with his desire for unconditional love versus his fear of burdening those around him, knowing the more he opens his heart to the people he cares about the more he stands to lose if something goes wrong; these people are the warmest he's ever known and he's the happiest he's ever been and that scares him because he can't shake the feeling that it's fleeting and fragile and could all disappear at any moment, so all he can do is fight to protect everything he loves and hope one day he'll deserve the precious happiness he's been given here"
and then the blurb on the back is like "natsume climbs up into the attic to look for some books, but... uh oh... is that a... g-g-g-ghost??!? things are about to get freaky deaky in here if he doesn't do something... quick!!! will natsume be able to handle it before the clock strikes thirteen, or will he become... gulp... the ghost's next meal?!?"

"That would be lovely," June smiled fondly, as she took another sip of her tea: Some might call her a Pollyanna for it, but she genuinely didn't want to write off the possibility for her fellow spirits becoming parents someday. Considering how many happy couples there were under the Mansion's roof, surely there had to be a good chance more than just her son and daughter-in-law would have little bundles of joys in their future!
The conversation brought out the other family album, this one dedicated to Lon and Erika's lives in the Mansion thus far, allowing for plenty of cooing over the twins, with a particular focus put on Halloween's past, and the birthday celebrations that came with it. There was especially a lot of giggling and cooing over the twins' first birthday, and the little pumpkin costumes they were dressed in.
"The cutest pumpkins in the patch!" Wilhelm chuckled, as both Lon and Erika turned bashful at these pictures of their infanthood-in particular one of Lon trying to put a crocheted pumpkin in his mouth, said pumpkin having been made by June for this little photoshoot, commemorating that milestone birthday in particular.
"Awwww, reminds me of when June was a little girl, and I made her a ghost costume out of an old bedsheet!" Josephine giggled, recalling fondly, "She ran all over the house, calling out "boo!" to everyone and everything-she even gave August a jump!"
Both sets of Pace twins, young and old, couldn't help but snicker at this (and August, for what it was worth, smiled a little at the memory) before Colin recalled fondly, "Ah, Cal and Willy and I, we all used to raise a little hell on All Hallows' Eve; before the big bonfire, we all used to go runnin' through the streets, telling everyone Stingy Jack was comin' to town! Dressed as him a few times too, between the three of us, amongst some other ghosts and goblins from our book of fables! You still have that, Willy?"
"That I do," Wilhelm smiled warmly. "Got it, and I've since passed it onto to Randall to read to his wee ones."

There's a habitual focus on person's last words.
But a much more relevant question is what are the last comforts and joys that can be squeezed in before an oncoming death
In hospital, it's things that healthy people don't seem to notice much
A flannel wash with really hot water, feels so much better than just a functional wash. It reminds you of hot baths and hot pools.
The taste of a sweet lolly you can suck on without worrying about choking or getting nauseous
The drop of water to wet your tongue, even when you can't drink safely
The feeling of the morphine or midazolam kicking in, and easing the breathlessness
Being repositioned in a way that helps the ache in your back
Your favourite people just being there, listening to them talk and laugh with each other while you rest
The cool cloth and ice block and fan until the fever comes down
Knowing that there's someone there who will come to you
