i know the ask you answered about what the siblings call each other was quite a while back, but i wanted to ask! what does kashima call wakamatsu? the translation is "young wakamatsu" iirc, is it similar to how all might in my hero academia calls his students?

Very late to answering this but yes Kashima refers to Wakamatsu as "Wakamatsu-shounen" aka "Young [Man] Wakamatsu", and yes it's the same way as how All Might refers to his students ahah

Kashima's name calling is very entertaining, I still love her Hori-chan-senpais and how Seo and even Ryousuke does the same dkfjhskjdhk (like in the latest chapter)

Can anyone explain why I find side ships/beta ships better than the main ships?

I noticed when I watch anime and read manga is that the ship between the side characters namely the friends of the male and female MC are cuter than the main ship themselves. I even have a list.

2021 has been an interesting year watching anime, catching a variety of different series with plenty of enjoyable characters along the way. 

Horimiya brought a more authentic feeling high school experience, intermixed with a fun yet flawed set of friends, including the pictured Kyouko Hori up top there. My Senpai is Annoying gave us a hilariously well executed workplace romantic comedy that hit so many high notes, primarily following little lady Futaba Igarashi (don’t call her a kid, you’ll regret it). While also based in a workplace, Ganbare Douki-chan was a very quick romance each week, Douki-chan coming across as a very well meaning girl who simply can’t win. Catarina Claes of My Next Life as a Villainess was as funny as ever, managing to survive anything that came her way and being unaware of all her vying love interests. Eiko Kawasegawa of Remake Our Life! was my favorite secondary character of the year, such a hard worker and what felt like a perfect match for the protagonist of that series. Oh, and have to mention Ilulu of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. She was such a fun character to follow, whether it was her interactions with her fellow dragons, Kobayashi, or her relentless teasing of Taketo.

Here’s to hoping 2022 brings a whole new set of wonderful characters to enjoy.

Oikawa is so drama, he might as well help out woth the drama club. Also let's face it wherever shittykawa goes Iwa chan does as well, muscles for heavy props. I feel Iwa chan and Hori will develop a sense of comrade from dealing with their respective headaches

So Oikawa heard about the drama club through the grape vine and was like umm yes please?

So he lowkey begged Hinata and Kageyama to bring him to it

This was before the wonder duo got their theater privileges revoked mind you

And Oikawa brings Iwaizumi bc he’s his babysitter let’s be real here

So this CHAOTIC MESS of people roll up to the doors to the drama club and Hinata pushes the door open

Onto Hori who was trying to pull the door open at the same time

Hori’s a pretty sturdy guy but a surprise door to the face especially heavy theater doors he’s going down

So Hori’s first meeting with Oikawa was when he hovered over him while he tried to get his bearings back

And Oikawa, being himself, kiiiiinda put his foot in his mouth

“Hinata! You can’t just hit people with doors! Especially not cute first years like this guy ;)”

Hoooooo boy that was a MISTAKE

Hori gets up and into Oikawa’s space, blood dripping from his nose and just SEETHING

“First of all I am a third year. Second do not call me cute. And third who the HELL are you and why are you barging into my theater?”

“Sorry about Shittykawa he’s an idiot. We’re friends of Hinata’s. My name is Iwaizume Hajime”

THIS is why they brought Iwa

“Aww Iwa Chan is so mean! I’m not an idiot! I was simply trying to help this cutie out! I apologize for thinking you’re a first year, but in my defense you’re as small as Hinata!”

Aaaaaaand there he goes again

Doesn’t matter that people are starting to arrive for set build Hori’s got a mission and it’s to kill Oikawa

Tsukishima and Suga ended up arriving at the theater a few minutes later to see Hori, still bleeding mind you, being held back by Kashima as he attempts to get to Oikawa who is hiding being Iwa

Cue the rest of the Mangang BOOKING IT to the theater

It eventually ended with Nozaki physically picking Hori up, dropping him into Tsukki’s arms, and directing him to the nurses office

Hori only let this happen bc of blood loss exhaustion let’s be real here

So Tsukki takes Hori to the nurse and the rest can still here him cursing Oikawa out

Iwa has Oikawa by the collar dragging behind him as he apologises to Kashima

“It’s okay. Hori senpai kind of has a temper. But it’s nice to meet you!”

Kashima is a sunshine we don’t deserve her

Oikawa and Iwa ended up hanging around for a little while

Turns out Iwa is weirdly good at woodwork? Where the hell did he get this skill?

And he enjoys Kashima’s company weirdly enough

She’s an idiot but a different type of idiot from Oikawa so it’s refreshing

Plus his general aura scares away most of the fangirls so work actually gets done

Oikawa got banished to one corner of the room

“Don’t move shittykawa”

“Awww Iwa Chan don’t put me in time out :(“

“Shut up”

So Oikawa isn’t allowed near the sets but you know what he can do?

Be a menace

You know who is unlucky enough to gain the attention of menaces?

Oikawa sits down beside him and Nozaki IMMIDIETLY wants to leave but he’s also intrigued by this loud idiot

He lets him ramble about his volleyball achievements and realizes this guy has all the pride and confidence that Mikorin PRETENDS to have

So he’s gonna use this to his advantage

He makes Oikawa pose for drawing references which Oikawa LOVES

Someone wants to draw him? Great!

Granted he still doesn’t shut up but he’s in one place and that’s all Iwa can ask for at this point

Kashima and Iwa exchange numbers bc hey if Iwaizume wants to come back to the drama club and help out again he totally can!

“I don’t like saying people can’t come to the theater, but maybe if...’Kawa was his name? If you bring him let me know so I can get Hori out of the building haha.”

Iwa just nods and grabs Oikawa to go home

Eventually Oikawa and Hori will (begrudgingly on Hori’s end) get along and talk about theater and playwriting and leading a group but for a little while those two need to be physically separated

Énouement

Énouement: the bittersweetness of having arrived in the future, seeing how things turn out, but not being able to tell your past self

“So you and Touka-chan have been married for a while right?” Hide asked.

“Yeah. Almost 7 months,” Ken answered happily. Her due date was coming soon too, there’s a lot of things to prepare for. 

“Why don’t you guys have rings?” 

“Well, I have this one that Touka gave me,” he answered, pulling out his ring on a chain. After  the chaos of everything, he was so glad to see it again. He didn’t know what he would do if it was lost forever.

“Does she have one?” 

“... No.” 

“Why don’t you get her one since things have been calming down?” 

“W-Well…”

“Come on, it wouldn’t hurt to get her a ring, it’s to show that you’re married!”

“But when I brought it up before, she said she didn’t need one.” 

“That doesn’t mean that she doesn’t want one,” Hide insisted. “I'm not saying that you need to get the flashiest ring that you can afford, but it would be nice if you could give her one especially since she gave you a ring.”

“...That's true.” He could always get her something simple. Or would it be too old fashioned to just get a simple band? To begin with, what was Touka’s preference in jewelry? The only other time that he remembers her wearing any jewelry would be during their wedding, but those types of accessories wouldn’t go well with everyday life. “It’s hopeless, I don’t even know where to start!” 

“You could ask around! Like Nishio-senpai! He probably knows a thing or two about this  kinda stuff,” he suggested.  

That’s right. Not to mention that he and Touka have spent a lot of time together within the past few years. “You’re brilliant Hide!” 

“Heh, of course.” 

But instead of Nishio-senpai, a taller man appeared at their meeting  place.

“Bonjour, Kaneki-kun! Are you ready to search for your present to Touka-san?”

“Tsukiyama, I wasn’t expecting you.” Mainly because he didn’t know if Tsukiyama’s tastes matched with Touka’s. Not to mention,Tsukiyama had a habit of going… overboard.  

“Well, Nishio-kun had some prior engagements with a certain doctor, however I am perfectly willing and capable of assisting you on your expenditure!” Tsukiyama declared with an extended arm. “I am more than happy to share all of my knowledge with you so you may find something so magnificent that it will be passed down to your children and grandchildren.”

“You’re exaggerating Tsukiyama. We’re just going to the store to pick something out,” Ken pointed out.  

“But, it’s something that you two should treasure for the rest of your lives. So it’s going to take a lot of consideration, right?” 

“That’s right…” It would be nice if she would treasure it for the years to come. He knows that he’ll treasure the ring that she gave him for as long as he lives.  

“Don’t worry, I’ve already made the preparations, picked out a store, and found out Touka-san’s ring size!”

“Why do you know that?” 

“I merely used the resources at my disposal of course. Now come!”

Was it Hori-san’s doing? He wouldn’t put it past her, but Ken didn’t even know if Touka knew her own ring size.

Yomo-san quietly pointed towards a ring,“This.” 

“No, no, non!” Tsukiyama declared, “That is completely unacceptable for Touka-san! She must have something grander! More regal and elegant! And Kaneki-kun must have a matching one, naturally. What about this one with the diamond halo? It would certainly fit Kaneki-kun’s regalness!”  

“That’s too damn flashy!” Ayato protested, slamming his hand down on the glass case, “And it’s not in Aneki’s taste at all!” 

“Ayato-kun, perhaps you’re still a tad too young to give this topic some thought, however I assure you that my taste is top grade and perfectly suited for Touka-san’s tastes.” 

He thought that the more help the better, but now he’s regretting that decision. To begin with, he was never particularly interested in things like this. Especially given his lifestyle in previous years. 

“Did you find anything you liked yet?” Hide asked.  

“Not yet.” 

He was still in shock that he was even picking out a ring for Touka, his wife,his pregnant wife. 

Ah, he can’t wait until the baby comes. He wonders what name he should give the child. Touka  didn’t want to find out the gender of the baby yet, so maybe it would be better if he chose a gender neutral name, but he really wanted to give his child a name that suited them perfectly. 

Ken looked at Tsukiyama and Ayato arguing as Yomo-san was quietly contemplating another ring choice. Even Hide was by his side again. It’s crazy to know that he was able to be with the people who were closest to him again. And this time, they didn’t have to hide away from enemies, but instead they’re now able to work with all the people who were close to the other him, ‘Sasaki Haise’. He never thought that things would have turned out like this, but he’s grateful that they did.

He wished that he could go back in time, even just a year ago, and tell the previous him that he wasn’t suffering alone anymore. Even with all of the sins he committed, even with all the lives that he’s taken away, even though he's never going to be truly forgiven, he found happiness.  

Hide pat him on the shoulder, “You ok?” 

“Yeah, I am.” Better than ever, actually. “Thanks for being here Hide.”  

“Don’t mention it buddy.” Even though Hide couldn’t actually smile anymore, his eyes were still bright and happy. “So what do you think would be best?” 

“Um…” 

Touka’s outfits were never anything complicated or extravagant, but rather simple and relatively well put together. Even when they got married, she took off all of the decorations that Tsukiyama had put on her almost immediately after the party was done so that they could do… other things.  

“Something simple and comfortable. If there’s a lot of things on it, then Touka would have a hard time using her hands.” 

What should he do? He would get a similar design to the one that Touka gave him, but is that too plain?

Oh… 

He’s got it. 

“Tsukiyama, does this place do engravings?”

“I’m home,” Touka announced.  

“Welcome back,” he greeted as he helped her out of her shoes (she’s been having troubles reaching her feet since her belly’s gotten bigger). Even though he has the ring, should he just give it to her now? Or maybe Touka would prefer if he tried to be more romantic about it? He knew that a lot of people proposed with the ring hidden in a cake or something, but it’s not like he’s proposing exactly….

“What’s wrong? You look nervous.” 

“Um… I got you something.”

“Cake?” 

“It’s not food.” He’ll just go for it, “Can I put it on you?” 

“Sure.” 

Maybe it’s fine if he just does it simply like this, it’s fine. 

But as he tries to place the ring on her finger, it won’t go past her first knuckle.

… What? 

He pushes a little harder to no avail.  

IT DOESN’T FIT! 

How could that be? Hori-san’s never been wrong with her information before, unless Tsukiyama wrote down the wrong  number or something or Hori-san gave him the wrong number or maybe the sizing for the specific store that Tsukiyama took him to just had smaller rings- 

“It’s probably because my fingers are swollen from the pregnancy,” Touka reasoned,” I’m sure I’ll be able to fit it later.”

“B-But…”

She chuckled and sighed. “It’s fine. I have a solution. Give me a second.” She disappeared for a second, but quickly returned with the ring around her neck. “Look, now we match,” she pointed out as she pulled on his necklace. “Isn’t that great?” 

Ah… He really loves her.  Her smile was absolutely radiant, he loves seeing Touka happy.  

He’s really glad that he didn’t die back then. Even though he hated being a ghoul at the start, it was how he got to meet Touka, everyone at Anteiku, everyone at the CCG, and it’s going to be how he was able to meet his child. 

If only the Kaneki Ken from before could see him now.  

“Ken?” 

He smiled back at her, “I’ll make you some coffee. Decaf, obviously.” 

“Oh? Let’s see if you’ve gotten any better.”
