Best Christmas Scene in Anime:
Ping Pong The Animation (Ep. 6)
Song: Midnight Flight by Shougo Hamada
There's just something 'real' about this scene, that just hits the feels. How sometimes different situations in your life or work, mean that you're alone. Or how sometimes you simply just want to be alone like Smile. Or that you think you are alone, like Wenge, but your actually not. And then there's Yurie, who's hopes and wishes were that she wasn't alone on Christmas Eve.

#C6: Ping Pong the Animation
youtube
Summary:
Despite being polar opposites, Makoto "Smile" Tsukimoto and Yutaka "Peco" Hoshino have been best friends since childhood. Although the overly confident Peco strives to be the best ping-pong player in the world, he often skips practice, earning the ire of his fellow teammates on the Katase High School ping-pong team. Meanwhile, Smile—in spite of his innate talent for the sport—cannot help but hold back his full strength when playing against others. Through their mutual love for ping-pong, the two have developed a bond that is seemingly unbreakable.
When Peco hears that an ex-national team player from China is coming to Japan, he drags Smile over to rival Tsujido High School to observe them. The subsequent trip leads to a clash between Peco and Kong Wenge, who overwhelmingly defeats the former in one game. Stunned by such a comprehensive loss, Peco finds himself questioning why he plays to begin with. Seeing his potential as a player, Katase's coach begins to train Smile to overcome his hesitation, but he is reluctant to play if it is not for enjoyment.
As the two struggle to find meaning in the sport, a plethora of stronger players—each with their own internal strifes—await them at the inter-high tournament, where only the very best can persevere. But when these young athletes let their unbridled ambition go unchecked, the hardships they face paint a somber reality as they pursue glory.
Propaganda:
An experimental director (Masaaki Yuasa) adapting a work from a very stylized and emotionally-focused shonen mangaka (Taiyo Matsumoto). This is an anime that feels more like watching an indie arthouse movie than a shonen anime. Featuring characters and arcs that subvert standard anime tropes, it gives an incisive picture into youths on the verge of growing up and learning responsibility. If you want to watch a short anime (one 11-episode season!) which will include cool sports action (and that’s coming from someone who is not generally into sports animes) the matches given weight by the primary use of them in narrative being as checkpoint in the characters’ growths.
I tend to prefer shojo over shonen for being more introspective, with the emotional arcs developed slower and more subtly, but for me this shonen hits a sweet middle ground of having that more internal feel, while getting to do the shonen things of having cooler, action-focused animation and character relationships which are about friendship rather than romance, and character arcs that are about trying to strive hard to achieve a dream. The show is quite well critically regarded, but a lot of anime fans get turned off by the unusual art style, and there isn’t really a fandom for it, so I think it counts as underrated anyways! Anyways, I think it delivers a really impactful and complete story-arc in a short time, and it leaves you feeling like you’ve grown alongside the characters, no matter how old you are (no seriously, my 50-year-old mother walked away saying she didn’t know anime was such a profound genre when I made her watch this).
Trigger Warnings: None.

#C8: White Cat Legend 2020 (Dali si Rizhi)
youtube
Summary:
Chen Shi, a young man from the countryside, journeys to the capital in search of his missing older brother, whose existence he has only known about upon his mother’s death. He knows neither the name nor face of his brother, and after finally arriving at the capital he runs out of money as well. One thing led to another, and he finds himself employed at Dali Court, working for Vice Minister Li Bing, a large white cat.
On the other hand, Li Bing is of royal blood who was imprisoned because of his family’s treason. Now, he has to work in the government to atone for the crime.
At Dali Court, they review court cases from all over the country. And when an incident involving the esteemed ministers of the royal court breaks out, Dali Court is called to help—only to find themselves entangled in political threads and hit heads with an eccentric demon.
Li Bing is determined to get to the bottom of this, but how far can he go when he could turn into a real cat at any time when left unchecked?
Propaganda:
Intriguing plot? Check. Complex and interesting characters? Check. Comedy? Check. Drama? Check.
The blend of comedy and drama is just so good. I started the show because I love cats and supernatural stuff. Who would’ve thought it would pull me into an abyss of despair and political intrigue. The cat demons turned out to be just the icing on the cake.
We have all these different characters brought up in different ways that their ideas of what is Right conflict with each other. None of them are exactly Wrong or inherently Evil (except for one guy), and this makes it so much more difficult to choose who to root for. You’d think everyone against the protagonists are the Enemies, but turns out even the protagonists are limited by their biases and unintentionally harm others. The two protagonists themselves get into arguments because of their different standpoints.
And I just love this because it makes them realistic, you know? The characters don’t always agree with their friends, and their enemies are not completely hostile either. It really all boils down to what they believe in. Sometimes their beliefs align with existing comrades, and sometimes they find it on the other side.
Production-wise, this show also gets a check on everything. As an adaptation, it’s amazing. The original manhua has quite a simple style—kind of like comic book drawings, and panels are all rectangles in one straight line. Storytelling is also simple and straight to the point.
But the 2020 donghua? God, it went far and beyond that.  The animation team does not cut corners at all, which is a feat considering the show has a low budget from what I’ve heard.
A short, simple scene in the manhua becomes an emotionally-devastating experience in the donghua. The animation choices, angles, music, and just everything else blend so well to deliver a STORY. This adaptation does not just copy frames from the source (like Blue Lock) or cut/reorder some of the scenes (like Horimiya and Sasaki to Miyano). White Cat Legend 2020 understands the material so well that it can creatively use the advantages of the animation medium to deliver an experience that exceeds even that of the source. Think Mob Pyscho 100 or One Punch Man s1 level of creativity. It even has mini stories at the end of the ending song. For s1, the mini stories are in stop-motion, while for s2 it’s formatted like a video game. You gotta appreciate the effort.

💣 Bakugo kids 💣
Some time ago I made this drawing for my friend, @layuyuxx 💜🖊️
They are her three "Boku no Hero Academia"/"My Hero Academia" 'fanbabies': Kai, Taiyo and Aria. Katsuki Bakugo and Yua Hoshino (@layuyuxx OC)'s children 💥🧙‍♀️🌙
I love their designs, Kai is identical to his father but more smiling, Taiyo is Bakugo and Yua combination, and Aria is a mini Yua, too cute and lovely 🥰💖
I really enjoyed drawing them and I hope you like it as much as I do!! 🌺

Best Underrated Anime Group C Round 3: #C5 vs #C6
#C5: A bunch of teenagers are forced to share pain
#C6: Sports anime for people who prefer bildungsromans to sports
Details and poll under the cut!
Tumblr media
#C5: Kiznaiver
youtube
Summary:
Katsuhira Agata is a quiet and reserved teenage boy whose sense of pain has all but vanished. His friend, Chidori Takashiro, can only faintly remember the days before Katsuhira had undergone this profound change. Now, his muffled and complacent demeanor make Katsuhira a constant target for bullies, who exploit him for egregious sums of money. But their fists only just manage to make him blink, as even emotions are far from his grasp.
However, one day Katsuhira, Chidori, and four other teenagers are abducted and forced to join the Kizuna System as official "Kiznaivers." Those taking part are connected through pain: if one member is injured, the others will feel an equal amount of agony. These individuals must become the lab rats and scapegoats of an incomplete system designed with world peace in mind. With their fates literally intertwined, the Kiznaivers must expose their true selves to each other, or risk failing much more than just the Kizuna System.
Propaganda:
Kiznaiver is an extremely underrated work of Studio Trigger’s and is definitely one of their bests. Not just for the animation, but for the impactful story as well. The characters just feel so real, and this show just makes you think about human connection and how much we might care for each other if we shared our pain. Although it can get a little confusing at the end, the sheer raw emotion is what makes up for everything. Every single one of the characters gets developed in ways that made me smile like an idiot.
Very good but severely underrated anime! Would recommend! :)
Trigger Warnings: Emotional Abuse, Fatphobia, Disordered Eating, Implied Sexual Assault (maybe).
The fact that Yuuta is formerly fat is constantly mocked throughout the series, which leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth as a fat person watching the show personally. Yuuta, to maintain his thinness, engages in disordered eating by simply eating a small cube of food every day. Said character is also the subject of an attempted sexual assault by a female character, but I don’t remember correctly if that actually happened or if I just got triggered by the way the scene was portrayed.

119° Resenha do dia Ping Pong  - Volume 1/2 . . . . #Mangá #PingPong #TaiyoMatsumoto #Jbc #EditoraJbc #Leitura #TenisDeMesa #Resenha #Comic #Quadrinhos #Coleção #Colecionador #Hqs (em São Paulo, Brazil) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cfqu-vAOxYu/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

bnha oc
Tumblr media
Finally getting the courage to share my bnha oc!
Name: Stella Hoshino ( 星野ステラ)
Hero Name: Star Breaker
Age: 16
Birthday: June 25
Height: 5′3″ (160 cm)
Class: 1-A
((artwork of stella was made using picrew)
Quirk:
Mini star (ミニスター minisuta): Stella’s quirk allows her to create miniature stars by superheating the atmosphere around her hands and feet and throw them.
As part of her training, Stella threw her mini stars at targets of varying distances to improve bother her aim and stamina.
Super Moves:
Sirius Flash (シリウスフラッシュ shiriusifurasshu): Stella outstretches her hands and creates a white mini star between them that is incredibly bright. The star creates a bright flash that temporarily (or if close enough and looking directly at it, permanently) blinds opponents, before dissipating. The attack was named after the star of the same name, which is the brightest star in the night sky.
Solar Flare (太陽フレア taiyo furea):  Stella creates a mini star between her hands, but she keeps the size small while increasing the mass, making it highly unstable and dangerously hot. She releases the mini star with arms outstretched towards her opponent, and the star explodes in that direction in a beam. This attack is homage to goku’s kamehameha wave from dragon ball z.
Overall abilities:
Stella has proven to be an incredibly fierce fighter. Her quirk allows her to fight in both close-range and long-range combat, although she specializes in long-range. She works well in a team, oftentimes serving as a human sentry to weaken opponents before close-range fighters attack. Despite this, she also can hold her own in a battle and is capable of taking on multiple opponents at once.
Stella has very noteworthy agility and stamina, which she incorporates into her fighting style, often using a feint maneuver before she throws a mini star to catch her opponent off guard. She can last a long time in battle before she starts to tire out, which allows her to be a team member who offers her teammates relief in a long-lasting battle. She can go head-to-head with stand-out fighters like todoroki, bakugou, and deku.
Her overall abilities make her the strongest female in her class, and as such, Aizawa and her classmates have very high expectations of her.
Personality:
Stella is a rather air-headed girl with a very distinct childlike personality. Despite this, she is scarily perceptive of other people’s emotions and is able to read even the most stoic of individuals. She is kind and caring to her friends and strongly dislikes when they are upset and will do everything in her power to cheer them up. She enjoys the company of others and often is found clinging to someone’s arm or holding onto their shoulder like a child. Due to her upbringing, she can be naïve and often relies on her mother’s teachings to guide her, leaving her biased and without an opinion of her own. As the series progresses, however, she learns to think for herself and make decisions based on her own perceptions of the world rather than her mother’s.
Despite Stella’s air-headedness, she is incredibly focused in combat. Aizawa has stated that the stark contrast of Stella’s personality and her power could lead opponents to underestimate her, which could work to her advantage. During the UA Sports Festival, Aizawa thought to himself which side of Stella is the true one, the fierce fighter, or the innocent childlike girl, or if maybe she’s a mixture of the two.
Trivia:
Stella has two canon mothers in the series who are confirmed to be in a lesbian domestic partnership.
Her biological mother, Luna, is agoraphobic and spends most of her time in the house.
Luna’s quirk is “bioluminescent”, which allows her to absorb surrounding light to make herself glow.
Stella and Luna’s names mean star and moon in Latin respectively.
Her surname contains the kanji for “star”( 星hoshi) and “field” (野 no).
Her first name is written in hiragana since it is a Latin word.
When written together, her name full name translates to “Stella of the Stars” or “Stella from the star field” (星野ステラ).
Stella has been hinted to be attracted to both boys and girls, having shown visible signs of a crush on Yaoyorozu, Kirishima, Ashido, and Bakugou.
Stella was born while a comet was passing by the earth.
