Just thinking about how Umbara, Kadavo, the Rako Hardeen arc and Maul's returns are all back to back chronologically too not just in release.

the more I think about it and rewatch his scenes, the more I cannot help but realize that Colin is coded as a neurodivergent character. At least, I can very clearly see how Luke Newton, a neurodivergent actor, is playing Colin as a neurodivergent character
a special interest in Greek mythology? in traveling? neurodivergent
taking people's word at face value without 'reading between the lines'? neurodivergent
not being able to read Penelope's feelings regardless of how 'obvious' they are? neurodivergent
brain constantly bouncing around from one idea to the next (as in the books)? neurodivergent
not saying the 'right thing' and admitting to having to rehearse important conversations? neurodivergent
all that rejection sensitivity and regret he had well over a year after his engagement blew up? neurodivergent
masking in public? the whole 'charming facade'? neurodivergent
the man straight up STIMS, I mean how often do we see him fidgeting or playing with something? he has an oral fixation like no one's business, always eating, rubbing his mouth, licking his lips
I just can't unsee it
and, one day, i hope our fandom is going to be ready to recognize how many of the things we've unjustly called him an 'idiot' or 'stupid' for is actually just him existing with a neurodivergent brain and how hurtful that can come across to us neurodivergent peeps who identify with him

Honestly this sounds ridiculous but sometimes I think the constant bowl cut jokes that the ga and reddit make about Will are basically them just coping and seething at the idea of Will being an actually important character. It’s like every time they only choose to focus on how silly they think his haircut is, they progressively devalue his character and take him less and less seriously. And it kinda seems like they’re just trying to convince themselves that Will could not possibly be important to the narrative, could not possibly be explored in a deep and significant way-not because they correctly understand the story but because they really do not want a gay male character to be focused on in “their” show. The amount of attention Will and his sexuality get already is probably too much for some of them.
Because stranger things is so mainstream, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people just subconsciously view it as a “normal people show” even though it started as a show about/for outcasts. Thus, the more focus that’s given to a gay male character, the more it becomes a “gay show,” and if their “normal show” starts becoming a “gay show,” it will make a part of the audience feel duped and “forced” into confronting a subject that makes them uncomfortable: homosexuality (and its associated struggles). And a lot of these people would be especially angry at this development because they can’t even comprehend that competent, male creators might willingly tell a story about a gay boy, so they end up assuming that the creators must have been pressured to force the story into taking a turn for the gay, or that they’ve been brainwashed by the woke agenda-after all, they couldn’t just be progressive people who sat down and simply decided naturally that they wanted to explore homosexuality as a major theme in a sci-fi horror show from the start. That’s not even allowed, right? Gay stuff should be contained and quarantined in gay-specific genres like a disease, right?
Anyway, I just think it’s maybe not a coincidence that I see way less “reducing Will to his haircut” behavior from people who are invested in the complexity and humanity of his character compared to the people who clearly want him to stay small and hidden, out of sight and out of mind.

I saw it pointed out in a german magazine of all places that ghosts being briefly material after coming into contact with iron would make them briefly visible to the average living person and while that should be obvious I just... never considered it before? and now that I have, it brings up so many fascinating possibilities

See, i love the war dogs, like, as characters. Narratively great. Unfortunately they remind me too much of Guys I Grew Up With, and all those guys had something dweebish lurking under the thin veneer of "Cool Guy" they cultivated. So my interpretation of the war dogs is. Perhaps less cool than they are supposed to be within kayfabe.

girls wake up there's a new worm bike playlist in progress
alana said the new one is way more funky, I've noticed a lot of punk bands are piggy dippin in a funk/punk sound more than a pop/punk sound and honestly? I'm so obsessed.

@stitchyqueer i THINK it's "It would help if I could sleep, but I can't, and I don't really have to-- I can just sort of get by, on catnaps and magic."
AND LIKE. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO NOT READ INTO THAT. I'M GONNA READ INTO THAT SO HARD.
@simonsnowichooseyou my thoughts exactly. i'm just stuck thinking about the implications of that. i feel like the sudden loss of it in wayward son DEFINITELY didn't help with the depression, but i'm also imagining him being really, truly fatigued for the first time.
if he's spent years skating by on fumes, with no more magic keeping him wired up, would simon even be able to accurately identify when he needs to sleep? did he get tired in the same way, back when he had magic? can he tell the difference between feeling physically exhausted (like after a long difficult fight) and actually needing to sleep? how unfamiliar was the feeling?
i dunno how well it applies to our boy simon, but if i was him? there would have been at least an 8-hour period where i thought i was dying.
and since the way simon lost his magic was pretty unprecedented*, that might not have been a totally unreasonable assumption. it was probably an option they at least had to consider.
*(we already know magicians losing their magic is 1. possible and 2. something that physically Feels Real Bad, but simon was THE magician, with the most magic. for all they know, that was load-bearing magic and he was hours or days away from collapsing like a puppet with cut strings. t e r r i f y i n g.)
@mostlymaudlin - legitimately, one of my favorite things about simon is that he just does this constantly in his narration

When I say the greasers would be prejudiced, I mean they grew up and live in an environment and time period where stereotypes, ideas, propaganda, etc, were more common than today (also they still are common, to the point I don’t think there’s anyone without them to some degree) and exploring those ideas as how they culminate and manifest and how the greasers can unlearn them is much better than erasing these very real concepts and themes within the Outsiders itself as well as the era, thus doing a disservice to both.

How does Egon being a robot effect the plot of Ghostbusters? Asking as someone with very minimal peripheral understanding of Ghostbusters, but wants to give you an excuse to Go Off. Please educate me about this, I will read the response and be nodding appropriately throughout, even though I have none of the context
Thank you for giving me a chance to go off, and apologies if this ask was answered a few hours late! I got distracted rewatching Frozen Empire with some friends while multitasking on answering this ask- XD
TW that there will be mentions of gore at the very beginning. While not shown any images or references (for obvious reasons), I want to put this here so people wouldn't get upset for not putting a warning in the first place.
To sum up a quick basis of this AU During a bust with a pretty nasty Class 7 Demon in a robotics factory, there was... a fatal accident in which Egon was brutally killed. (I'm talking sliced in half horizontally with a decapitated head to rub ectoplasm in the wound.) Out of the other injuries this ghost caused on the guys, (the least injured was Winston while Peter almost getting his eye sliced out of his skull) they were for sure traumatized seeing Egon's head croak with his last living breaths.
It was hard to break the news to Janine once they got back, and the funeral was hard to sit through after seeing the stitches on Spengler's body and head in an attempt to make him look like a normal corpse. Safe to say things were awfully quiet around the Firehouse for a good while... Until the four were called to the robotic company by the people running it.
The entire thing felt like a Faustian bargain, a promise that seemed too perfect to be true, but it was the least the company could do to make up for the fatal loss of Egon Spengler. It took a bit of convincing and effort in trying to electrically transfer memories and thoughts into a machine while working on the most humanoid body the company could. All the Ghostbusters could do was wait.
Then, a delivery at the firehouse doors and a giant human wooden sized crate sat at the front of the door.
All of them carried it up to the lab, and opened it. Laying in a heavy amount of packaging peanuts and styrofoam was Egon Spengler. The 'skin' on his body was merely realistic rubber, every detail of any freckles or birthmarks was nailed right down to the bone. His hair, while a bit shiny for any normal human being, remained its beautiful dark brown while looking curly as sheep's wool.
It's only when the sounds of whirring and the brightness of blue eyes shined on the four. A couple clicks from Egon's eyes as his head turned to look at his surroundings, his friends...
"...Well, this is certainly different."
