Again, I don't know this idol's personality well either, but if I could tell Chaewon something I would say she's doing amazing, to eat well, rest well, and take time to have fun! Because honestly every idol is overworked and deserves more breaks.

Jjong's! I love his style the most, I just think he is so cool.

Hmm, I'm not fashion savvy like Key, but I do miss the high fashion I've seen him wear at the airport in the past (like 2015-2017? ish? my babywol brain can't give you more specifics). I can't say a specific style, but I guess I like the more flashy clothes. Like this for example. Or this outfit from 151130 (I spent an embarrassingly long time looking for this lol)

Also multi-colored hair! Like he had during Odd era or RDD era. IDK how many times that RDD hair changed colors but I loved them all.

I don't really have a preference, it depends on my mood for the day. I have been listening to more NCT lately, but I like both of these groups' music for my workouts especially (groups like NCT, Dreamcatcher, EXO, KARD, and of course SHINee I love playing for my workouts).

hello, thank you for taking the time to respond to my anon question about criticism of Shinee, their fandom and their company. I learned from it and thank you for reminding me about how the members and fandom did go through a lot. I also like artists to be themselves you know, not this sugar coated version that they seem to always want to potray in most kpop groups. It baffles me how bts's earlier struggles are glorified to this day when Shinee's struggles and hardships are just as major and more life altering if we compare the two.

I wouldn't like to compare the two groups' histories because I think it's an apples and oranges situation. Their trajectories are incomparable. BTS still don't have final say on their music and I think that's a travesty.

One of the things I love the most about SHINee is how they rarely sugarcoat things. In some of the most difficult moments, like when TM was unwell during Bistro de SHINee, they didn't ignore it or pretend like everything was fine. Instead they told him whatever he was feeling was okay. To me that's real. My criticism, tho, is that the company should have been more communicative because a lot of fans did go into dramatics, thinking the worst. Even though I think those fans were over the top, I do understand why they were so emotional. The show ended abruptly after it was clear TM was unwell and the others were worried, and they were all affected by the VCR that played that included lots of old footage of the group with Jjong. SM/UMJ should have thought of the fans more at that time.

Another thing: when Minho came back from enlistment, he was super tightly wound. During DCM comeback, he was argumentative in the promo lives and the more personal, ad hoc ones. Lol. I think he struggled to adjust to his idol life after being a marine. He and Key were catty AF, and Minho even got in a spat with TM during a live in the car. Interestingly, Onew and Key cut them off immediately (TM said something like "why are you being so nasty to me/you've been so nasty to me"). That tells me that was a legit spat because Minho and Key are never cut off when arguing. Anyhow, MH looked apologetic afterward. It doesn't get more real than that.

And I prefer to see something real than something sugarcoated and fake (I'm thinking of Soop tbh). If MH is struggling to feel like himself and being argumentative, I'd rather see that then him pretend and be fake. I'd rather watch Key fuck with him because he knows he's too up tight and needs to loosen up than him walk around on eggshells. Life is imperfect and people argue and annoy one another. I don't have to like everything that comes out of TM's mouth either, or any of the members. I know they're being real and that's fine by me.

Being in the mafia had certainly opened doors to all kinds of things for Jiyong, including all kinds of women. He would be lying if he said he hadn’t taken advantage of that, and while he’d enjoyed their company at the time... he never would’ve imagined a woman could make him this happy.

No matter where he was or what he was doing, he thought of you. And he smiled because he thought of you. He compared every other woman he saw to you. He sometimes actually imagined he did see you, but he kept that to himself. Even he knew that was kind of pathetic.

he only ever gets in the play fighting mood whenever he’s tired. 

like, out of his mind tired. the kind of tired where he’s utterly exhausted, but suddenly feels like he can take on the world.

you will be lying in bed one night, waiting for him to come home, just like you always do. 

the door will open, and he’ll be standing there with that lazy smile on his face, cheeks flushed red because that’s just how Onew is.

you’ll set your book down, or your phone down, or whatever it is you were doing before hand, get ready to greet him with a hug-

whenever he’s suddenly diving towards the end of the bed, grabbing your feet and dragging you towards him.

the bed sheets scrunch up around you as you shriek and try to get out of his grip, but he isn’t giving up. he’ll flop onto the bed beside you and just start tickling you mercilessly.

this always ends up with you trying to hit him with a pillow and him dodging your every move. his hands are firm on your hips, and he’s laughing - the man hasn’t even said hello to you yet!

as the tickling ceases, he’ll decide to simply toss you over his shoulder and spin you around for a bit before he’s flopping back onto the bed and gathering you into his arms, the exhaustion finally catching up to him.

there will be no explanation for his sudden playful outburst - he’s usually asleep before you have a chance to ask.

Key:

oof literally, any time he just wants to randomly square up, he’s doing it.

it doesn’t matter where you both are or what you’re doing - if he suddenly gets a spike of energy, there is no knocking off his advances.

his style of play fighting is jokingly rough, as i like to call it.

where he pretends he’s some kind of WWE fighter, but he’s actually very gentle.

his play fighting consists of a lot of lifting and pretend cheering.

for example, his all time favourite thing to do is sneak up behind you and lift you up over his shoulder when you’re least expecting it, before slamming you down on the bed in a pretend RKO.

and then he’ll leap up with his arms in the air, pretending a crowd is cheering for him.

you’ll try and kick him, but he catches your leg and rolls you over, pretending to keep you in a leg lock. you’ll be giggling, trying to writher away from him, but he’s just having so much fun.

sometimes, when you’re cooking dinner, he’ll come up behind you and wrap his arms around your shoulders before gently tugging on your head, saying “RKO!” in your ear before he lets go and casually asks what’s for dinner.

honestly, it’s just little tiny moments in which he feels like he can’t help himself.

Minho:

he only ever really play fights whenever you’re being particularly needy that day.

you would have to initiate it.

like when he’s working really late, and you come and visit him. all you want is for him to come to bed so he’s not exhausted the next day, but he’s so engrossed in his work that he doesn’t even shift when you walk in the room.

so you start poking at the back of his neck, teasing him, genuinely just trying to get him riled up enough that he’ll turn and see just how worried you actually are for his health and well being.

he’ll try and swat you away for the first few minutes, grunting for you to go away in his tired state.

but then you’ll start talking, saying things like, “i guess i’ll let the dog have your side of the bed then,” and then it’s all hell broken loose.

he’ll spin around in his chair, grab your waist and drag you into his lap, where he’ll playfully pretend to nibble on your neck until your squirming and trying to get away.

he’ll hold you close to him, bundling your arms into your chest so you can’t get away, and he’ll genuinely just hold you like that with his ankles locked around your legs to stop you from moving.

you’ll groan and try and squirm out of his grip, but he’s stronger than you and he just holds you until you go limp in his arm.

he’ll grin down at you, press a kiss to the bottom of your ear before saying, “I’ll come to bed in a minute, babe.”

Taemin:

very sweet. very fragile. does not want to hurt you in any way or form.

i feel like the only way you’re gonna get Taemin to join in on the play fighting is if you, like, move his arms for him lmao.

he spends the majority of the play fighting just looking at you with this big goofy grin on his face, amused at the sight of you trying to square up to him.

because you’re so adorable and cute and that’s honestly the only thing he can concentrate on as you leap from side to side, nudging his shoulder, trying to get him to play along with you.

the only reason he doesn’t join in straight away is because he’s a little bit afraid of things going too far and you actually ending up getting hurt.

you’ll end up grabbing his arm and wrapping it around your own waist. he’ll throw his head back and groan, saying, “I don’t wanna,” but then his grip is involuntarily tightening and suddenly he’s swirling you around before pressing you onto the bed, unable to help himself.

because despite his irrational fear of actually hurting you, he can’t help but admit that he does get playful sometimes, and who else to have fun with than his lovely S/O?

so he’s awfully careful. he does that thing where he raises his legs up and catches you with his feet when you try to fall on top of his chest, so he’s kind of holding you up in the air with just his feet.

it’s actually very cute. i wish i had the vocabulary to describe it a bit better but i’m afraid that skill is not in my reservoir.

Jonghyun:

he always has time for a quick play fight.

purely because it’s you that’s wanting to play fight. he just always has time for you, tbh.

his play fighting is similar to Taemin’s in the sense that he does really spend the majority of it just staring at you with this fond smile on his face, unable to get over just how cute you look doing whatever it is you’re doing in your attempts to rile him up.

but then he’ll join in eventually, because he can’t just sit there when you’re looking that adorable. he just wants to give you everything whenever you’re jumping from side to side like that with your fists raised up.

honestly, the raised fists don’t do much. all Jonghyun needs to do is tackle you onto the bed and that’s you down for the count in seconds.

you two will genuinely just spend hours playing footsie on the bed, trying to shove the other person off the end of it.

sometimes you do win, because it isn’t that difficult. Jongyhyun will sometimes end up slipping off the edge of the bed and then he has to suffer with hearing you yell out in victory for ages.

whenever he manages to get you off the end of the bed, he’ll peak his head over the edge and grin at you, to which you’ll respond by rolling your eyes and curling up in the sheets you have just pulled from the bed.

Jonghyun will lower himself to the floor and curl up next to you, where the two of you will most likely end up going to sleep together.

agh i feel like this is so long… but i had fun writing it and sappy jjong is always a fav of mine LOL. hope you enjoy and thank you for waiting!

If Minho wasn’t lounging lazily on Kibum’s couch like he owned the place, he is sure he’d be a complete crying mess. It’s bad enough that Minho’s roommate Taemin brought someone home to his shared apartment earlier that day and Jinki, their other friend, is out of the state for a family reunion. It’s bad enough that Kibum can feel his guilt swallowing him up whole and he doesn’t even know how to properly convey his feelings.

Minho mutes the television and readjusts his body so he can face the entrance to the living room, the space in which Kibum is occupying by pacing in little frantic circles. Minho tilts his head and pops a couple of chips in his mouth from the nearby bag lying on the same couch.

“What’s the matter with you? Is my soccer bugging you that much?” Minho teases.

Kibum gives him a warning look that practically says, Try that again I dare you. Minho raises his eyebrows and bites the inside of his mouth in a demeanor that means he’s sorry but that he’s mostly offended by Kibum’s angry glare. The paper in Kibum’s fist cracks and crinkles between his fingers and for once, he’s not worried that he’ll ruin what looks like important information.

“I got the letter, Minho,” Kibum says quietly. Minho’s blank expression indicates that he doesn’t get it. “The letter. The acceptance letter. For that school-”

“The one in London?” Minho asks, interjecting Kibum’s attempt at refreshing his memory. Kibum nods slowly. “What’s the big deal about that? I thought you’d be a little more excited. You know, since you were so whipped to send your admission.”

Kibum doesn’t reply right away and something uneasy settles in Minho’s stomach. “This doesn’t have to do with Jonghyun, right?”

“That’s hyung to you, Minho.” Said person extends his hands in a way that gestures for Kibum to continue. There is more lying on the tip of his tongue that is ready to be said, yet it holds back. It’s like the gate that releases Kibum’s words has suddenly locked everything up.

“Does it have to do with Jonghyun hyung? Honestly.”

Kibum nods his head.

Minho rolls his eyes. “So what then? You told him you applied for this school and he looked pretty damn excited for you, unless he was lying or whatever. So why do you look like Taemin when he accidentally ingested glow stick juice?”

“I didn’t think I’d actually get in!” Kibum stresses. He rubs his eyes with the palms of his hands, the wrinkled paper still tightly held in between.

“Then why did you apply in the first place?” Minho retorts, stressing his sentence just like Kibum’s, only with more frustration weaved in his.

Kibum exhales shakily. “Jonghyun encouraged me to and I really wanted to do it but the chances of me getting in was like a billion to one. Out of all the people they could have chosen, they chose me! And of course, Jonghyun just texted me yesterday and told me he’s working on a new comeback, so what kind of jerk boyfriend would I be if I didn’t stay and support him?”

Minho, although trying to hide his annoyance with no success, wants to say a million things to Kibum, most of which include encouraging swear words. He tries a different approach. “I don’t want this to turn into some soap opera where you stay back from a once in a blue moon opportunity because you’re worried about Jonghyun hyung. You guys love each other. Distance shouldn’t be a problem at all.”

“But have you seen long distance relationships? They never end-”

Kibum is once again cut off when the front door is kicked open, the person behind such act whistling a tune like he’s playing an instrument. “Hey Kib.” Kibum smiles weakly as Jonghyun practically runs like a puppy to his boyfriend, pulling him into a back hug and pressing his cheek against his back. “What have you been up to?”

Minho frantically but discreetly mouths something along the lines of, “Just tell him already or I will!” Kibum waves at him to stop, gritting his teeth, and then signals for Jonghyun to release him so he can turn around.

“I got a letter back. They accepted me.”

Jonghyun’s face flashes from confusion to elation to brief sadness all in the span of two seconds. He smiles warmly, though it’s evident that there is still some pain in his eyes. “That’s amazing, Love. When are you leaving? I need to let the manager know so I can get a day off and help you pack.” He speaks with kindness in his voice and wishfulness in his eyes.

“But you just started comeback preparations,” Kibum whispers. “By the time you start promoting, I’ll be halfway across the world. How could I do that to you?”

“This is an opportunity that only comes around as often as Taemin doing the dishes without being told to. Don’t worry about me and don’t even think about staying back because you think I need you. Remember that song I wrote last year? Love has no borders? Well, that’s gonna apply to us for a while, but I wouldn’t give it up for the world. If this is what you love and this is what you want to do, you’re doing it. Because nothing makes me happier than seeing you with a grand ol’ smile on your face, okay?”

Damn it, Kibum thinks to himself. He can feel his vision blurring with hot tears and before he knows it, he’s pulling Jonghyun into the tightest hug ever. “Thank you…” he manages.

“But,” Jonghyun continues, “If you’re going to leave, I need you to do one last thing for me. It’s small and it may not seem like a big deal but I don’t know when I’ll be seeing you after promotions start and you actually do your school thingie.”

“Of course, of course. I’ll do anything.”

“Leave your last night here open and free.”

Kibum obeys. The day before he’s supposed to leave, bags all packed, travel tickets laid out, heart bouncing from his throat to his stomach, Kibum leaves for Jonghyun’s house. According to Minho, he kicked his mom and sister out for the night and Kibum gets a strange feeling. Nonetheless, he puts on his favorite clothes (the fancy suit from a company dinner that Jonghyun told him to wear) and drives with shaky hands to his destination.

When he goes inside, his heart swells with so much love that there isn’t anymore room for it to skyrocket to his throat and pitfall back down to his stomach. The living room, the main room of the house, looks like a scene straight from a Korean drama. Candles. Lots of candles. Jonghyun’s leaning against the wall directly across from the front door, bouncing the heel of his left foot on top of his right foot. His hands are tucked behind his back and he’s smiling.

“Oh my god, you’re not gonna…”

Jonghyun laughs and it sounds like honey in Kibum’s ears. “No, oh God no. Not yet.” He pauses. “Remember when we first met? At that wedding? And you were dancing so prettily that I had to go over and ask you out before the night ended?”

Kibum is starting to see where this is going but he doesn’t say anything.

“Well, I kind of want to do that again. One last time. One last dance.”

Kibum doesn’t have to say anything that will let Jonghyun know that nothing in the world can stop him from dancing with the love of his life. His face says it all. Jonghyun starts the song and he takes Kibum’s hands into his own. They aren’t even really swaying. Holding Kibum’s hand is like holding a heartbeat and Jonghyun wants to savor every moment he has left.

It's...really surreal to see pics of shinee only including 4 people, and continuously having the fact that this is just how it'll be from now on come into mind--that no matter how sad anyone is and no matter how much anyone wishes things were different, it's not just like a hiatus or a temporary absence, but instead the fact that jjong wont ever come back...it's honestly really hard to cope with, not to sound dramatic or anything;;; :( looking back, its clear that he still had hope for himself and plans for his future... but it all went away so fast. it all feels like it happened so ridiculously fast. He didnt keep his struggles a secret, but i dont think that anyone couldve ever been prepared for what happened--but i guess no one can ever be prepared, nor is it right to ever expect it to come to this. as the months keep going on, i keep wondering why it doesnt really hurt any less, but i guess im just not There, yet. i'm so happy to see the rest of shinee out there doing what they love and doing everything they can to include jjong's memory in their ongoing activities but i'm also so so so so so so sad. and i cant shake that emotion off and time just keeps passing by and people just keep telling me i need to get over it and it shouldnt be taking such a toll on me and stuff and i physically cant :') and i dont understand why its so wrong to still be grieving when someone passes, especially when its someone who was a huge role model for you for a very long time... why is it so wrong? even if coping starts to look different and it's not a damn near constant cycle of guilt and grief and such, i dont really know if all of the sadness will completely go away--i think that it may always linger in the background even if its not front and centre all of the time as it is now

so, my therapist said something important to me today, I think, and I’d like to share that with you. (warning: this is long)

first of all, shes very supportive and sweet towards me atm although I’m not doing much. I’m basically just at home, grieving and feeling unwell when going out so I try not do do that. I should do it and I do it every now and then, but not as regularly as I should. Yet, she said that shes already happy seeing me cry, knowing that I do better than I did a few years ago when my mom died and that I do things, but I can’t do certain things properly because they were all connected to Jjong (drawing and writing, but even gaining weight and going to the gym… my whole recovery is actually connected to him) and I’m doing good despite feeling like I’m failing all the time again. Grief is.. very tough and it drains you, but as long as you do your best to function and actually do little things from time to time, you are doing amazing. If you let yourself feel the pain then youre doing great. If you manage to get out of bed, out of your safe space then you are doing good.  That doesnt mean that your struggles and problems are suddenly invalid bc youre ‘doing good’, but theres no need to beat yourself up over how long you mourn and how hard it is for you to function well. I can barely get ready and go out, I’m always crying. If I deserve to be told that I am doing well while not feeling well at all, yeah, then you deserve to be told that too. You are doing well. Another thing.. (wow these always get too long I put too much personal things into my posts, but thats the only way I like it) This is really important to me, because it is similar to what I’ve been thinking for the last couple of days. Until now I wasn’t able to put it in words, but now I guess I can or I try.. I probably fail. You know that suicide is something extremely aggressive, not only towards oneself, but also towards everyone around the person who does it, everyone who is dependent, every person who likes that person. My therapist is so.. mad at him for what he did, because she sees how many people suffer from it (actually first hand too) what I understand, because I myself was pretty mad at him for his decision before.  Thats normal, just to say that, before you judge me or others. It is more than normal to be mad and disappointed and even necessary to feel that way to ‘get over’ the happenings. Well, I was mad because of personal reasons. (btw im not mad at him directly I have a very bad relationship to that great thing called depression and what it makes out of people, including him. to this day I still dont recognize him in his letter. I do not see his true self speaking and my anger is directed towards whatever he had turned into due to his illness) What jonghyun did to all of us with his decision.. is questioning all of ours health and happiness. Hear me out. He left us feeling a certain way and now all of us start to question if our situation is still as good as we thought it was. When I first heard the news, for like a week straight I was insanely suicidal again, thrown back into old manners and my old disgusting self generally. I started to question whether I feel good and thought I was lying to myself. Suddenly, I was overwhelmed by everything I had left behind and I see that this is happening to many of us and what sucks is that not everyone has the opportunity to go to therapy to get better again.  If you havent been feeling better, then of course, the happenings make everything even worse. Suicide attracts people… sadly. it saddens me so much. really. I havent been only crying about Jjong, but what all of this is doing to us and the people close to him. Im not here to talk dirty about jjong, I love him dearly, with all my heart, but you cant sugar coat everything. He wasn’t perfect and he made a big mistake many people had to witness and it affects many people in all kinds of ways. What I want to say is: Please don’t be hard on yourself, be gentle, try to love yourself a little more, appreciate what youre doing each day, because you doing these things each day or wanting to do things, having passion, thats the real you and not some sickness speaking for you. And another persons death never means life is over. Your life is not over because of it. It gets insanely hard and if youre like me then you need to reconstruct your whole existence and find a new reason to live.  But we can do it. We have been able to do it once when we weren’t feeling good and so we can do it again. Most of us are still so young. Please stay strong, feel, take your time. you.. are doing so so well <3

[Fan Account - Kim Sungkyu Mini Fanmeet and Live]

Sungkyu’s mini live event! Namba Hatch, Osaka, Japan,  4 Oct 2017 disclaimer: all comments here are as I understood with my lower level japanese and korean, so apologies for any mistranslations!!

Ticket and Fanclub event info Inspirit Japan members got priority ticket sales and a small discount, plus the chance to enter two events: 1. you could submit a video question, which was used in the show (more on this below) 2. ten people could win a meet and greet with Gyu before the show! Event tickets were all assigned seats, no standing. My seat was 1st floor, row G, but other fanclub members I know got row O and even 2nd floor, so it really was a lottery for seats.

Intro After the lights dimmed,  There was no video intro or speaker intro, Gyu just simply walked on stage and began to sing the opening song (Kontrol) Loved hearing and seeing him like this, with no dancers or distractions, just Gyu and a mic. He concentrates so wholly on his songs, he's half hugging the mic with his arm and it really looks if he has his eyes closed for most of them. He only looks up as if to realise we are there much later in the song. wow. How I love that voice. I think other ppl have listed and videoed all the mini-live songs, so I’ll give more detail on all the non-song moments!

After 3 songs the lights go up, and he says hello in Japanese, and the mc and interpreter come on stage and beckon him to sit down on a chair. He sits, and immediately chugs water from a bottle with a straw, and says how happy he is to come to Osaka, even though he feels nervous. The (female) interpreter sits behind him and translates what the mc says into korean, as well as what Gyu says into Japanese. great idea as Gyu doesnt have to worry about trying to speak Japanese and we can just hear his natural Korean. He’s a bit more nervous than I expected, and hesitates a lot at first when he talks, he’s a little shy - used to the other members bumbling around him I guess! But he’s super cute, especially when he laughs, which is a lot tonight. Fan questions The first stage event is 'Sunggyu please teach/tell me’, where four fans (via the fanclub) recorded a video message to ask Gyu. At first we didn’t shout loud enough when this segment was announced, so the mc made us do it again, and Gyu looked very amused by us being told off by the mc. The first q is a girl who wants to know if theres any food he doesn’t eat much, or can't eat. He’s really REALLY hesitant in answering, like saying 'um... I...' and pausing, then 'um...' like he really can’t think of an answer. Then finally he and the mc talk about beef and beef dishes a lot. I think he said he did not eat beef as a child, and these days it is expensive - but I got lost on other details. The second girl records herself playing 'back' on the piano and asks what song he’d like to sing to a girl? (on a date? to woo her? not sure) she’s on the 2nd floor so he strains forward off his chair to wave at her! Firstly he praises her piano playing, then he ends up singing the chorus of 'be mine' acapella to the mc (who is pretending to be the girl) he laughs midway his song, but even does the hand gesture on 'oh!' (YES!) The third fan is a nurse and recorded her video at the hospital- she wasn’t in the audience tonight. she said she’s learning korean and wants to know his favourite word or phrase. again he was really slow and hesitant to answer, but eventually talked about a word that means friendship/you use with close friends (??) and he mentioned using it with the infinite members in his answer. If I see a J-inspirit tweet about this one I’ll RT - the details were a bit hard for me to catch. The 4th girl asks, 'you are a superstar, but what do you do to relax on your days off?' His reaction was so funny, he began: 'because I'm a superstar...' and sat up and crossed his legs really flamboyantly haha I think he really liked that question. When relaxing at home, he says he watches game of thrones season 7, and also plays games. Then the mc suggested, doesn’t he think of Inspirit? and he quickly said 'oh yes, of course, number one is thinking of inspirit, then game of thrones, then ... '(but he was laughing, such a cute liar) Hoopla. He just can’t.  Sunggyu had to play hoopla (land a hoop on a stick with a number) to play a random game. oh boy. he was so bad at this game! first of all, the front row fans told him off for being too close to the number board, and he was like 'What!!' the MC too was really shocked they were so strict, lol. then he stepped back and threw, and literally missed every single time, so then he stepped really close and threw all of hoops in the box until finally he got one. his reward- 2x speed dance! at first he looked aghast, but then just laughed and put his ear mic in and was like 'ok. come on!!' he didn’t know which song it would be. it was be mine, and he did a great job-- and looked so cutely pleased with himself when he stopped, a satisfied grin of like ‘nailed it!’. back to the hoops. oh dear. he threw them all at close range and still, still!!!! couldn’t get one! he crouched down briefly in mental breakdown mode, but the mc just blatently slid one on for him lol. his reward-- the mystery box! the mystery box was a cute brown toy dog that walks and barks- you know the kind. omg he was so funny, he looked terrified as he put one hand in then yelled 'what!!!' 'what is it??' 'its moving!!' after a few attempts to touch it he couldn’t guess, so they let him do it again, this time with both hands. he jumped again as he touched it, and even sniffed his hand (???) but then seemed to hear it barking, moved his ear closer to the box. so then he guessed correctly, and laughed like crazy when the box was turned to face him. he said 'no way-- it felt different!' and then held it, said 'cute' petted it, then suddenly pretended to go to slap it, lol. a girl in the audience won the toy after he drew her seat number from a box.

the mc assisted him (basically put the hoop on the numbers as he was hopeless) to get another two rewards. The first was a group photo with us all. He turned away from us to face the camera, but remained standing, which would obviously block a huge part of the audience, lol. So the cameraman was like ‘hey! sit down!’ and he laughed, kinda embarrassed, and did so. 

The second reward was he could draw signed posters for 2 people, but he drew 3 winners instead, so 3 won, hehe. He read the winner’s numbers out in Japanese, and tried speaking a little Japanese to the winners, just the odd word, but he does try! Kyu is so funny to give gifts. (I've noticed this before, he keeps a real physical distance when he gives a prize, unlike L or Jjong who hug or pet fans' heads easily) as he handed people their prizes today, he really looks like the professor formally giving the graduation certificate, like very low bowing and holding out the poster then shaking their hand formally then bowing again. when people won from the 2nd floor, they took a bit longer to get there, so he extended a hand very gentleman-like and helped them up onto the stage - to ‘aaah!’ from inspirits, lol.

Photo time We were given three minutes to take pics, and like the Tokyo shows, he spent each minute at a different part of the stage, and smiled and posed and crouched down a few times for people’s cameras. The stage lights were sooo bright that even though my eyes could see him well, my ipad couldn’t - but other friends got some nice shots, I’m sure plenty will be going around!

A Gyu survey The last prize lottery of the day was for a survey we had to answer and put in a box before the show. the survey has questions all about Gyu. The mc told him noone got all the answers correct, and he was like 'ah, I’m a difficult guy--'

q1- is there a food you haven’t eaten this time in japan? a-ramen q2- on long flights what do you do? a- sleep. he uses an eye mask. (one of the options was talk to the infinite members- heh yeah right) q3-which animal do you think you are like? a-cat. everyone seemed surprised and Gyu was like 'what! why are you surprised? Am I not?' the mc made him do a Japanese cat noise and paw-like gesture (Cats in Japan say 'nyan’) he did it quickly and reluctantly lol. q4- what do you do first thing on a morning? a- drink water. he says he loves to drink water, and his throat always feels dry after sleep. the mc pointed out how nice/interesting his throat looks when he swallows so we got a closeup of him doing that, and he just laughed, like ‘doesn’t everyone look that way?’ q5- immediately after the first tokyo mini live, what did gyu do? a - thanked the staff. 

He drew three winners again for signed posters. one winner  from 2nd floor had put her name on the survey form as 'sunggyu-chan'. this really amused him and the mc. when she cane to the stage he said in formal japanese 'nice to meet you... sunggyu-chan?' lol. When the games were over, he talked a little about what he’s working on now - just everything he already said at the tokyo meets, a solo concert and album, musical, plus infinite comeback and album. He said he wants to be known as infinite’s leader but also the singer kim sung kyu. He’ll work hard for both things and wants to come to osaka again. To finish up, he sang the last two songs, including ‘Because’, (whoop love that older tune) then he waved to everyone, like very cute crazy big grin two-handed waves, before leaving the stage. Hi-touch time! We had to leave our seat with our stuff and line up to high five him on the way out of the venue. Staff were strict about having absolutely nothing in your right hand so you could hi-five him easily. A small screen hid him from view. When I got around it, he was standing behind a table, with staff close by either side. He had a cute small smile, looked kinda tired but also happy. The way Japanese hi-touches work there’s really no time to talk (or think-), so i just grinned and said 'Sunggyu fighting!' as i touched his right hand. Resisted the huge urge to grab it lol! 

No candy for us, unlike Myungsoo’s fanmeet, but that’s cool - hearing Sunggyu’s vocals and seeing his cute yet surprisingly shy self on stage was reward enough!

SHINee: first of all they all are beautiful people, really admiring idols. their music is always amazing and i simply adore them. Jonghyun - The Letter - 2017.06.14 - Fan account

Epic Fan Account of Doom…or Fluffiness (but that sounds less cool)

People who follow my blog attentively might know that I flew to Seoul on Monday to see Jonghyun in concert on June 14, because I only mentioned it like 14142112313 times on here. This trip went as smoothly as room tempered butter on a piece of toast. Pics and a video of my trip and some fun facts can soon be found on my travel blog, but no one cares about that now, right?

Let’s get to the actual content of this post *whips out her non-existent kazoo to play a song*

I went to SM Town at noon to buy some merchandise. I had typed down everything I wanted on my phone to make things easier for me as well as the staff working at the merchandise stand. When I arrived shortly before 12 around 30 people were already waiting in line (or more like sitting on the floor). Luckily they played Jonghyun and SHINee videos throughout the waiting time on some huge screen, so the time until 1pm passed really quickly. 

It was my turn after only 10 minutes, but by then the kazoo was already sold out, which still shocks me. Not every person in front of me bought one so I’m still wondering how many SM actually sold? 15? I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that they only sold a handful of kazoos. I already read several fan accounts that they were quite short on some of the merchandise in general, but I thought it would get better in week four. Apparently not…I’m still meeh about it, because the kazoo was the one thing I looked forward to the most. Anyway, I got my merchandise (I went a little wild *coughs*. Random side note, the T-shirt is such good quality! I’m in awe and will never take it off again! Especially compared to those flimsy T-Shirts with that ridiculous sizing they had for the FIVE tour in Japan, Jonghyun’s T-shirt can only win.) 

Left side: Jonghyun’s T-shirt (free size) Right side: SHINee’s FIVE T-shirt (size S). The thing with the FIVE T-shirts, before you wash them the print looks beautiful because it’s holographic. After washing it this effect is gone. The material is also much thinner than the one they used for the Jonghyun T-shirt, and the sizing was ridiculous. Those T-shirts were super short as you can see in the photo, but super wide (it’s like a crop trop in a way) I don’t even know how Minho wore that T-shirt with his long upper body. Jonghyun’s T-shirt on the other hand... I mean you want to wrap yourself up in it and pull it down to your knees (which I can’t, because I’m too tall, but smaller people can wear it as a dress, which is adorable). They were produced in different countries, which might be a reason for the difference in quality. I don’t know, but SM please produce your Japanese tour shirts somewhere else in future!

After taking photos with the shining babes at the photo booths (SM ships 2min and Jongkey…just saying) I went back to the SM merchandise shop to buy some more SHINee merchandise and then did some sightseeing around Seoul before coming back at 7pm for the actual concert that started at 8pm.

I sat in the left block in the third row, which was amazing, and I wish I had been able to stenograph during this whole concert to capture all the details as soon as they happened like

But yeah, that didn’t happen. So please bear with me, I try to write it down as accurately as I can remember it, but like I already mentioned in my ‘fan accounts’ for the SHINee concerts I’m only human (an old one on top of that) and I can’t possibly remember everything (even if it breaks my heart). So please be aware that the following passages will be filled with a lot of cringe worthy love that I feel for this adorable human being.

So, grab a snack, make yourself comfortable and enjoy the ride. I should just write this like a fan fiction…lmao (maybe not)

The opening VCR was him riding in a car and then walking along the beach. The presentation of the video was so nicely done, because they switched screens from left, to middle, to right as Jonghyun walked along the beach, so the audience basically followed him in his steps. He also looked astonishingly beautiful in that VCR, but let’s be real…when doesn’t he look astonishingly beautiful. The VCR was shot together with the video to ‘Lonely’, because the beach and the outfit he wore were the same as in the music video.

We stood up for the opening songs, which is always nice of course, but also made me very uncomfortable, because I was a head taller than anyone else in my block, and I constantly worried that people behind me might not be able to see the stage that well. Sorry people who sat behind me, I can’t do anything about my height T_T. Like I mentioned above I was sitting in row three, but I forgot my glasses at the hostel and therefore Jonghyun was still a little fuzzy around the edges, and I naturally tilted my head to look at the screen from time to time (force of habit…which I acquired during the Japanese concerts). 

Jonghyun wore a white T-shirt instead of the red one for the opening stage. Something like one, two, three Seoul Youth was written on it. But I’m not completely sure if that’s completely accurate, so don’t nail me down on it. 

Just like the red T-Shirt he sleeves of the white one had been generously cut off. However, I sat on the wrong side and only caught a glimpse of the tattoo on his ribs. Pity! But better than the T-shirt were those jeans! His jeans were torn in all the right places and whenever his legs moved one could see the muscles nicely contract in his thighs (is that too detailed, I wonder?) Anyway, I can attest that the boy got some booty and thighs now (@every-person-who-has-an-url-talking-about-jjongs-non-existent-butt-might-consider-an-url-change). I have to admit that I spent the majority of the first three songs with looking at his thighs and butt. I’m sorry, Jonghyun. Please forgive me my rudeness! I’m just not used to seeing you having an actual booty.

There were dancers accompanying Jonghyun for a lot of the songs again. Though, while I thought they are a nice touch during the X-Inspiration concert, they often felt like too much for this concert series, and to me it didn’t feel like they added much to the performances. But that’s just my opinion, and I’m sure others loved the dancers. As I mentioned in my “I’m screaming into the void, but I have to scream anyway post” right after the concert, Jonghyun came to the left side of the stage in the beginning of ‘White T-Shirt’ and pointed into my direction while saying ‘You’re so rock n roll’. He could have also pointed at all of us, but let me have this one little moment of fangirl love and let’s all assume he did point at me, because I stood out the most in a lot of ways, and yes, I’m more rock n roll than even Mr. Kim will probably ever be, so it would have been very fitting. (ﾉ≧∀≦)ﾉ lmao

So, that being said I was totally overwhelmed by all the fan chants. I mean sometimes I love doing them, but at other times it feels suffocating and too much, like I’m part of some Army? I have the Japanese SHINee fan chants down perfectly. You can wake me up in the middle of the night, play me a random Japanese SHINee song and I will do every fan chant perfectly (including synchronized fan light movements). I’m also quite confident in doing the Korean ones, but most of the Jonghyun ones just exhausted me. I can’t even remember if we did all of them in December? December is still such a blur. It’s a pity that I didn’t write everything down back then, because my brain is weak and so was my heart. Anyway, it took me a few songs to get into the right fan chant groove.

When the VCR to Rewind played I was shocked to hear Jonghyun speak German. I was like O.O ??? What is this foreign but familiar sounding language doing here? Is he Lady Gaga? There was Spanish, and Japanese as well…I wonder how he came up with using German and Spanish from all existing languages. Did he open Google and ask ‘How to count in different languages’ and he thought those are the fancy sounding ones? Or did Jonghyun think ‘Roo’s ancestors were German, so let’s go with some Rammstein vibes’. Either way I’m still not over it. Kim Autobahn you can speak random German words to me all day. The video was just like the song title… very repetitive. Jonghyun did the same things again and again. But I believe by now most have seen the snippet of the VCR that was posted a while ago.

I have to admit that I was a little disappointed in ‘Suit Up’. It is one of my favorite songs on the album. The band was way too loud and overpowered the softness of Jonghyun’s voice while singing the beginning of this song. The audio technicians should have changed the volume of the microphone or something since it’s never a good thing if the band is louder than the singer. As of the performance of the song, Jonghyun was rolled inside on some arm chair by some pretty female dancers who tried to ‘seduce him?’ I’m not sure, but they also stripped him off his purple jacket and his tie later into the performance, so I guess we can call it the art of seducing Kim Jonghyun. But like I’ve mentioned earlier while I loved the dancers during the concert in December, I felt like they didn’t fit the mood for the letter series, but do you do Jonghyun or SM, whoever decided that it’s a good idea to include dancers. He wore a purple suit during this segment by the way. There was a fan account that stated that he looked slimmer, because the pants fitted looser around his thighs than they had done before. I agree with that account since the pants indeed were a little looser, but I’m not sure this had anything to do with weight loss. Is it possible to lose so much weight around one’s thighs in a mere week? I don’t know. I don’t know. It also doesn’t matter…he looks beautiful no matter the shape or size! So, let’s move on.

‘Staring into Space’ was absolutely adorable, but I didn’t expect anything else, just watching him put on the robe and the little bed cap made everyone in the audience squeal in delight and him smile shyly in return. He knows he looks adorable in that outfit, but he still always acts surprised when the audience is more excited about him dressing up in cutesy outfits than seeing him undress himself. Anyway, the props for this performance stood on the left side of the stage. Some boxes, some lights, something he could sit/lie on. I’m not sure what it was exactly, something like a bench covered in pillows and a blanket? At first he only sat on it while singing, and I was already like…boooohh everyone said how adorable you get during this performance, don’t disappoint me now! As if he had heard my thoughts he lay down with that little dog plushie (that wore some polka dotted hoodie) and pulled down the sleeping mask, and then playfully tugged the mask down on one side so only one eye peeked out. You can imagine the squeals coming from all sides. He continued with pulling the other side down as well so his nose and his mouth were basically covered by the sleeping mask. It looked adorable. He’s such an adorable human being and he’s very aware of that. After the performance ended he got up to take the robe off and he was quite amused by the disappointed reaction of the audience, because everyone wanted to see him continuing the concert in that outfit. It’s definitely a look! Next SHINee comeback should include sleeping masks and robes.

For ‘Blinking Game’ some fancy looking lights were lowered onto the stage behind Jonghyun, and the scenery gave off the atmosphere of some fancy jazz club, and one only waited for a contrabass to start playing.

We used the hand bells for ‘Gloomy Clock’, and Jonghyun had a lot of fun altering the rhythm randomly to confuse the audience. Sometimes he really does act like a little kid, having the most fun by bringing mischief to the stage. But it shows how much he enjoys performing, and seeing him have so much fun, makes one’s heart feel really warm and fuzzy.

I’m quite sad that the talk segments were basically me sitting around and having no idea what Jonghyun was talking about. That’s what I personally like about the Japanese concerts, because there I understand most of the things they say, which is quite nice. But yeah, it’s not their fault that I don’t speak Korean. Anyway, before the cockroach song he looked for a couple again (apparently there was none…or no one wanted to out themselves) so he picked out some girl who had been single for a very long time. I only understood a few words, and tried to figure out the content of their conversation by clutching onto every straw that was thrown, and after that one fan account I was surprised to realize that I wasn’t that off with my speculations. It was really fun listening to their conversation, because that girl was very fierce (I loved her since she was not shy to voice her opinion) and ranted so much that she apologized several times when Jonghyun got all ㅎㅅㅎ--- O_O--- :’D and wondered why she sounded like she was mad at him. It was adorable. She mentioned Minho at some point, but I’m not sure what she said. Did she refer to him as her ideal type? I don’t know. 

The cockroach song was awesome live, and the animation of the cockroaches were so adorable! Especially when one cockroach was sitting on Jonghyun’s head. He got all embarrassed when he saw himself on the screen with that cockroach head on his, and started laughing. Speaking of little, embarrassed Jonghyun. He also got very shy when all the fans excitedly waved their fan lights around when he sung the now infamous lyrics of ‘Where are you?” You know the drill. It was amusing. But what else did he expect the reaction of fans to be when he wrote those lyrics? Probably no one is going to look at him in disgust when he sings ‘Where is the person who is going to kiss me?’ Are there any fan accounts about what Minho did during this part when he attended the concert yesterday? I expect Choi to jump up from his seat and point at himself!

The second girl he talked to was one of the people who sent in letters. I have absolutely no idea what the conversation was about, but she was very shy and said annyeonghaseyo very, very awkwardly and shyly and also sounded slightly bored on top of it (an interesting mix), which Jonghyun apparently found quite amusing and mimicked the greeting in the same awkward manner and tone. We can conclude Jonghyun likes to play and tease the audience. In general I got the feeling that he really enjoys talking to the fans, listen to their stories, and give them advice. It felt like group therapy session with Doctor Kim. For the talk segments he walked around the stage and when reading the letters he sat in an arm chair in the middle of it. At some point he was wearing a huge white shirt with a wide collar and some pretty necklace. It was such a nice and dreamy outfit. Did I mention how beautiful his eye make-up was done? His eyes looked so pretty and shiny, and… *inserts all the hearts*.

The stages I feared the most were the ones starting off with ‘Let me out’. I really thought I would start crying him a river right then and there, but luckily that didn’t happen. The prop for this stage consisted of some cocoon looking 2m tall foldable wall that surrounded him, and he wore all black with a black corsage like binder around his waist. Let me tell you that corsage did things to his figure. I mean we all know he has a tiny waist, but that binder only emphasized that, which made his shoulders and arms look massive while it made his waist look even tinier. Especially when seen from the side with the light falling onto him he looked like some statute in a museum. I think this was my favorite outfit of the night, because he just looked very dark and mysterious, but also very soft and beautiful at the same time. This guy is just a contradiction, but what else is new.

Like some fan accounts already stated the performance to ‘Let me out’ is quite intense and Jonghyun puts his everything into it, but just like with ‘Suit up’ the band overpowered him during the quieter parts, which is a pity. I don’t know if this was a general problem and just no one mentioned it until now, because fans tend to throw all form of critic out of the window as soon as they are graced by his presence or if the concert I attended was an exception. Maybe they should have arranged those songs differently, because performing them live requires some special attention in my opinion so the haunting feeling of the music and lyrics get across to the audience.  After ‘Let me out’ Jonghyun pushed the cocoon open and continued with ‘Elevator’, one of my all-time favorite Jonghyun songs. It was very powerful and I sat in the audience with goosebumps.

The duets between Jonghyun and Shawols were beautiful. He should consider recording a song with a bunch of Shawols as duet partners in future. I especially liked the Shawol duet to ‘Love belt’, because it makes it easier to yell ‘I NEED YOU. I LOVE YOU…HOLD ME’ at Jonghyun without seeming like a crazy person. (/・・)ノ

The VCR before the encore seems to change every so often and while it was a rice brand Jonghyun advertised last week, he did some advertising for a drink this week. He tried to act as if he was seducing that bottle in his hand, and ran it along his face and so on. It looked hilarious. I laughed so hard. I live for funny VCRs. After the video ended everyone’s head suddenly turned to the entrance of the theater, and I was like ‘What is going on? Why is everyone turning their head around?’ I figured out why around ten seconds later when Jonghyun came down the aisle on the left side for ‘Deja Boo’ and everyone started screaming. Holy guacamole I wasn’t ready for seeing Jonghyun that close. I thanked all existing Gods on this planet that I sat in the left block so he passed me only a few feet away and came to a halt right in front of my block. HE’S SO TINY!!!! *USES ALL CAPSLOCK IN THE EXISTENCE OF CAPSLOCK* AND SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! Wow, I was so dumbfounded that I just stared at him like the weak fangirl I am. How do people survive fan signs? I mean yes, he’s just a normal human being, no need to put him on any pedestals (that’s 100% correct) but holy daisy…if he isn’t one of the most beautiful human beings I was able to lay my eyes on. His skin was glowing! If it had been me standing right in front of him in that first row I probably would have gaped at him without feeling any shame. He has just a very engaging aura. I mean it is one thing to see him up close on stage, but when he’s literally on eyelevel with you…oh my oh my…how do people manage to act all normal around him? Are they dying on the inside from all the tiny firework explosions and fan feels? Tell me your secrets survivors of the US fan meets!

Random anecdote: 10 years ago I met my back then favorite guitar player during a meet and greet and expected to die right then and there. However, I didn’t die and I carried a table with him instead and told him how tiny he is, which resulted in the singer laughing and saying ‘Well, what a nice compliment!’ Me being as smooth as a spiky cactus. So thinking about this fan girl episode of mine I probably would say something stupid instead of dying inside. But I matured, I wouldn’t call Jonghyun tiny to his face. I learned from this embarrassing episode that still haunts me at night sometimes.

The concert ended with ‘Fortune Cookie’ and ‘Beautiful tonight’. As always Jonghyun directed the audience during ‘Beautiful tonight’ and I looked at every kazoo around me in envy. I wanted to become a kazoo kid. I will forever be bitter about this. But I might just buy one from ebay and start my kazoo career anyway. No need for Jonghyun’s concert logo on this genius music instrument. I loved how he cherished every single person in the band accompanying him, and jammed along to every instrument. He played air bass guitar, it was so adorable and cute and I just wanted to pinch his cheeks and pat his head.

The ending of a concert always makes me feel very empty and this time was no different. As soon as Jonghyun left the stage I felt a wave of ‘So this was it. The final goodbye’. It’s always the worst part of a concert, because you just don’t want it to be over yet. The concert was a little over 2 hours, I believe, and everyone stormed out of the concert hall to wave Jonghyun goodbye at SM Town’s side entrance. When I arrived at SM Town that day I tried to figure out where all those ‘Arrival’ and ‘Departure’ photos had been taken, but I didn’t have to look long for it, because the entrance is right next to the actual entrance of SM Town. So, I followed the crowd and waited behind a barrier. I think at least half of the audience waited for him there, and most of them had their phones and cameras ready, already filming the door. Some of the girls even had little stools they could stand on so they could see the entrance better. He exited the building shortly after, waved into the crowd like usual and then disappeared into the waiting car. Nothing too dramatic…

It was a beautiful concert; very cozy and somehow very intimate. I for one belong to the group of people who prefer small venues, and I never understand why some fans have it as a goal to attend a Tokyo Dome concert at least once in their lives. I mean you do you, but it sounds more fun than it actually is. I already disliked the size of Saitama Super Arena with a little over 30.000 seats and I don’t want to imagine how a hall filled with over 50.000 must feel like. Yes, the ocean might look beautiful with 50.000, but it already looks beautiful with 500, so I don’t know what the big deal is…especially if you happen to only get a ticket on the fourth/fifth floor. But to each their own I guess. One needs to have a goal in life after all, and if it’s attending a SHINee concert, then that’s a really good one! So, you go Shawols! ^^

I should end this here, but I want to add a last note on the global packages. Last year I got a global package for the first X-Inspiration concert, because a) I didn’t know better b) his first concert was on my birthday and therefore I wanted to go there whatever the cost. As most of you know the global packages are very pricy to begin with, but in the case of the X-Inspiration concerts they also offered a lot in return, and you could choose the price category of the hotel. So after calculating everything, I thought, well the price is not too bad, and I still don’t regret buying that package, because it was a wonderful experience that I treasure a lot. However, this time the prices for the global packages were even higher, you couldn’t choose the price category, and they offered nothing at all except for the goodies. All I thought was ‘SM, what are you doing???’ This being said, if you have the money, just go for it, but if you are on a budget you might want to look around a little. There are trustworthy Korean sites which people use to resell their tickets and if you are lucky enough you might find a ticket to a reasonable price. The one I found was only 40$ more than the original price and was a seat in the third row, so I’m not complaining.

So, in conclusion: Did I have fun at the concert? Yes, I did! Was it enjoyable? Yes, definitely. Would I do it again? Oh yeah, anytime. There is just something about Jonghyun or SHINee as a whole group that makes me incredibly happy, and I’m very thankful that they never fail to put a smile onto my face.  ♡
