In short- the bugs of Hallownest did not take it well. Lots of screaming about "The end of the world" and "past sins coming back to haunt them". Elderbug almost had his second heart attack and basically every bug, other than the Pale King children and Quirrel, hid for several hours. (Zote likes to claim he was the first to make contact)

As for why Dewi's Dad is in Dirtmouth? Well, he wasn't very happy when his 11 year old son told him about going into a 'mysterious cave' to see his bug friends. Adult supervision and all that.

#Elderbug: “Guess I'll die”#Dewi is a lot less intimidating than his Dad. (Despite both looking like eldrich horrors to bugs) He's very gentle with his movements #Compared to his dad who has no idea how to handle bugs at all and is frankly terrified that they are crawling all over him #But man. Dewi idolizes his Dad so hard #The Old Stag is here and Also almost had a heart attack. But he likes Dewi and was curious enough to meet his Dad. <3 why not at this point #Hollow is not wanting to explain their first meeting with Dewi to his Dad. Anyway people of tumblr I got a cat and her name is maple and she is awful and I love her

She loves to sleep outside my bedroom door, then wake up to my alarm , then sit and meow until I let her in, and she likes to just generally lurk in my doorway when I have the door open. She also tries to get me any time I’m in the bathroom. She hides under my roommates beds. She likes to take up a whole entire cushion of our couch. She eats most but not all of her wet food and gets annoyed with me because of it. I love her

#She had a reputation with the adoption center here in town for being grumpy and not at all cuddly or friendly #In other words. My first non lizard or fish pet and I picked the cat with people issues and who is the biggest hater #And this sweet little old lady I chatted with says that my roommates and I are the most this cat has ever been okay with #See Miss Maple had been passed up by multiple families because of how much of a hater she is #But I had seen this cat for months at the pet store and I could just feel it #I needed to get her and I’m so glad I have because god. She’s six. She’s grumpy. She’s easily overwhelmed. She likes to be the only pet #She doesn’t like being bugged. She needs specific food. She will bite if even slightly scared. Not many would give her a chance #But I saw her dumb (affectionate)little face and I needed her and nobody else was giving her a chance!!! So ofc I would #Every day she settles more and is progressively getting more sweet. She purrs at me!!#I have no regrets. I adopted the hater kitty with issues because I felt like she just needed a home and I was right #And even if she gets overstimulated. She was headbutting me literally on the first day I met her #Even if she’s not cuddly. She makes an effort to hang out around us. She likes to sit in my room and doorway and likes to watch me cook #Or watch movies with us #She’s not the most affectionate but that’s okay because she’s finally got a home after over a year of being in the kitty system #And I know this cat likes us. That’s all that matters
