We should all already know this but, Sam is all the above when it comes to Tara. Big sister? Check. Dad? Check. Mom? Check, check, check

Texts like an old man. She doesn't know a whole bunch of "text lingo" so Tara uses that to her advantage. She'd text you "Kys" thinking it meant "keep yourself safe" because that's what Tara told her. She definitely uses these emojis: 😂 🙂

Is completely lost when it comes to "slang terms" and abbreviations. Tara: "You ate that Sam." Sam: "Ate what? I'm not even eating." Tara's laughed/made fun of her for it while Sam remains confused

Hates being called Samantha. It reminds her of how her mother would scold and ridicule her. When Tara started calling her Sammy, she couldn't be any happier with the given nickname

Never got Tara's love for Horror growing up, but tried to understand for her. In her opinion, it's illogical how most of the characters act, but Tara likes it so she doesn't mind giving it another try

Definitely introverted. She's more outgoing with people she's comfortable with; Tara, Mindy, Chad. Growing up, she never socialized a lot

The Core Four have game nights and it can get... intense. Let's just say on multiple occasions (whether that was Tara buying her out during monopoly or Chad and Mindy giving her yet another +4 in Uno) she has been extremely close to flipping the table

AITA for lying to my brother?

My brother (8 M) eats a lot of McDonald's. Like a lot a lot. To where I (16 M) worry for him developing Heart Disease very very early. I've brought this concern up to my grandparents, but they brush me off every single time, they can't ever say "no" to the kid, and its very very frustrating.

Cut to today - my bro comes up to me and says he's gonna try the Grimace Birthday shake, but the kid has semi internet access so he's learned about the memes. He tells me about how the shake has killed people "but a commenter said it was really good" so he wants to try it, and then the idea struck.

So my ass told him that the memes were true ; Grimace exists and he comes after every single person that drinks a beverage from McDonald's. Ronald McDonald on the other hand targets people that eat from McDonalds, they work hand and hand like Bonnie and Clyde. I also told him that I ate from McDonalds once and its why I avoid eating from it; ronald mcdonald showed up at my doorstep ready to kill and I had to hide and survive for 8 hours before the murder clown lost interest. Every single time I eat McDonalds though I relive the dread and I have to fight all over again.

(A half truth because eating McDonalds does send me into a depressive spiral weirdly enough??? Is that normal)

things I consider canon to my flashlight duo universe:

gregory and Evan move in together when they're adults. evan runs to live with the fazbears as soon as he turns 18 and they go from there. whether it's college or just an apartment

gregory is what introduces Evan to drawing and he loves it. they both keep up with the hobby when they're older as well. gregory likes drawing comics and maybe becomes a graphic novelist and I think Evan would like painting

Evan eventually meets vanessa when hes about 14 and she becomes the older sibling he always wanted. he always felt intimidated by her idea because shes Gregory's actual biological sibling and Evan holds that to a high honor because he wants to be. but they get along and vanessa being there for Evan makes him feel like part of the family even more

Roxy and evan are close. roxy kinda takes Evan under her wing because although its not the same experience because roxy had a support system her whole life, she wants to help him through what she also went through. she helps him learn an outlet to control his emotions more to be more manageable and is a calm shoulder to lean on for evan.

in the event that the bite happens (it doesnt usually), I think after Evan heals and recovers he and bonnie would bond over their scars and bonnie would make him feel better about them

evan meets cassidy later on when hes mellowed out some. I dont think she would have liked him a lot before but when hes healed more and gotten better with his sensitivity they get along pretty good. I think cassidy wouldnt have many friends and probably be considered a troublemaker because of her anger issues and her lashing out and Evan uses what hes learned with his emotions to help her. I'll say they're both teens here

freddy and the other adults wanted nothing more than to march over to the Aftons and declare that they're taking Evan forever but they couldnt. I think that they wanted to actually go through a process of adoption and taking custody but that would have affected Michael too and I'm not sure if they thought it was worth it. especially when Evan says hes alright with the fact that things arent perfect and that he already practically spends his whole life there anyway with how he spends the night.

I imagine william isnt the best cook and Michael probably has other means of getting food on top of not minding eating frozen dinners. but I imagine Evan probably didn't like a lot of foods (hes a kid and also. neurodivergent) and didnt have many things he enjoyed. so I think chica saw this and introduced evan to different foods and tried to help him figure out what he likes so he can eat better and enjoy it at the same time

★So what better idea than to redecorate their house?

★The idea was definitely proposed by Sunoo.

★Heeseung and Jay are the guardians for the Day. (Ooohhh that rhymed)

★They take the kids to IKEA for shopping new furniture.

★Heeseung is only here for the meatballs, thought there's an added responsibility of taking care of the younger members. He didn't mention the former reason to the others.

★Jake is hogging the map, making sure they don't get lost.

★But they still get lost.

★Sunoo is the first to notice, but his excitement overrides his skepticism.

★Jungwon is the first to notice and worry.

★He calls the others and points it out.

★Jake admits that he was feeling a little lost since the map doesn't match where they are supposed to be right now.

★Sunhoon points out that they haven't met a single person besides them yet. Not even an employee.

★A suspicion rises in Ni-Ki's mind and he suggests going back the way they came from.

★Thankfully, Jay remembers the way they came from and they head back.

★After fifteen minutes, they still keep walking through the IKEA with no sign of the exit.

★Finally, Ni-Ki tells the others that they might be in the Infinite IKEA. He knows about it because he's a gamer and he has played games about this before. (You cannot convince me that he hasn't played 3008 in roblox. He's a roblox kid in my mind.)

★Only Heeseung and Jake get it.

★Heeseung being a gamer and since Ni-Ki discusses about a lot of games with him, knows it.

★ And Jake cannot surf through the Internet without knowing about the SCP Foundation. He couldn't stop his curiosity and looked it up.

★The others look confused, so the three get to explaining.

★They just think it's ridiculous

★...till they see an employee from afar. (Yes I'm gonna call them employee imstead of The Staff for the whole time unless the members meet other survivors)

★ They scream and run around like the chaotic boys they are.

★Sunoo's scream is the loudest.

★The three suddenly remember they shouldn't scream like this as it might turn 'night' Any moment and the employees might chase them.

★They calm down the others and start to discuss what to do.

★The discussion is short.

★Survive.

★They get to making a shelter.

★Since they dance and hit the gym regularly, building doesn't take a lot of toll on them.

★Sunoo and Jungwon get food.

★Ni-Ki gets self-defense materials.

★They also get building materials.

★Jay is hammering away constantly, knowing they can't waste even a second.

★Jake is strategizing on how to make the shelter safer.

★Sunghoon and Heeseung continuously make sure the shelter is safe.

★Everyone is just building, their primary goal is to make a shelter to keep them safe for the night.

★They somehow make a suitable base and start adding defenses.

★Though night falls before they can manage it.

★They hurry into the base and eat, hiding and holding weapons.

★Heeseung, Jay and Ni-Ki take the first watch.

★Thankfully, no employees attack them on the first night.

★They start making their shelter bigger and safer.

★Jake mentions reading about communities In this place, but nobody is confident enough to go and find them. Especially since they don't know when lights go out.

08 MEDIA DIARY: Dan & Phil & Privacy

HELLO INTERNET!!!!!!!! If you didn't know me in 2012-2017, you might not know about my little fixation on these two British men on YouTube. Meet Dan Howell and Phil Lester. They started out as teenagers making silly videos in their bedrooms. Dan inspired by and a fan of Phil, made his own content and - come 2009, ended up meeting Phil.

(Moral of the story: Parasocial relationships work! Sometimes!)

Chaos ensues, they bond for life.

Now you can never really think of one without the other.

Without getting too much into it, yes. You know the internet. There was HEAVY speculation on their relationship and sexuality. I never got into it myself, but it was a huge part of the "phan"dom in the early days. Inescapable. Them openly denying that they were gay while their fanbase wrote insane erotic fanfiction (think: hamsters, peeling of skin), made "evidence" edits, and leaked footage from their private lives - It was a wild ride, and dare I say invasive at times. They did come out as queer at the end of June 2019! In Dan's 45-minute-long video titled "Basically I'm Gay", we get to know a lot of his personal battle with his sexuality, yet while still barely scratching the surface of it all.

"Obviously we were more than friends, but it was more than just romantic. This is someone that genuinely liked me. I trusted them. And for the first time since I was a tiny child, I actually felt safe. And the relationship we formed at that point was something that I needed in my life. We are real best friends, companions through life, like actual soulmates." is what Dan says about Phil, choosing not to elaborate further. He sets a boundary with his audience, stating that he wants to keep his personal life private (and so does Phil).

I respect that dearly, and I am glad that the fanbase has matured a bit more over the years to abide by that boundary (at least from what I've gathered. I hope... Looking up their names seems to say otherwise). Learning what to keep private and what to turn into content is a fascinating practice. Especially when you're a celebrity whose entire brand revolves around your person, stories, and hijinks. There will always be people who you can't control - those who view you as a commodity, a story to unpack and watch unfold. I feel like none of us are built to be seen by this many people at once. On a personal account, everytime I've encountered a brush of virality I go a bit cuckoo and I find myself withdrawing into a shell. It really does take a certain strength/dissociation to be perceived by so many.

Anyways, they uploaded a video on their shared gaming channel recently! "A Fan Perfectly Recreated Our House in Roblox". Self-explanatory, and also not clickbait! It was fun seeing their old apartment perfectly recreated as they occasionally showed clips of videos, reminiscing about their old content.

...Pretty jarring to see their real street views outside their windows, though! (O_o) ( 8:38 ) A bit funny, but also not funny at all. I giggled, had a bit of a haha hehe, but I also worried. There are definitely people out there who stalk creators by going to places they frequent, or even their own homes just from clues online.

Everyone is a content creator to some extent, so we need to be mindful! Digital footprint, guys! Moral of the story is shut your blinds and throw away your phones and delete yourself off the face of the internet and change your name and live off the grid and. I'm kidding... Sorry for being an asshole and making a lot of assumptions. I was angry and I'll be angry in my own space next time not on your blog. The rest of this is abt that feel free to just delete. Idm.

It did take me days to get to what actually annoyed me and it's just telling teenagers on the platform you know teenagers are on to play roblox and get off the platform also made for teensagers feels pretty demoralising (for my own reasons)

First off, thank you. I really appreciate you taking the time to review those thoughts and come back to me with them -- that's a lot of guts and thinking and reflection, and that's really fucking cool to see people do!

Second off -- yeah. No, I can absolutely be frustrating. My frustrations lie in the fact that... tumblr is absolutely not teenager friendly, and was never made for "family-friendly content." Well, sort of.

I've been a veteran of this awful place since I was a mere whippersnapper (shoot me). I joined for the first time in December of 2012, when the world was supposed to be ending and my keyboard sliding phone was considered all the rage in my rural high school. And, even back then, it was not child friendly.

This place used to have a policy of "go nuts, show nuts" verbatim in the TOS. But in recent years, they've tried to retroactively fit this place to be Family Friendly, and in the course of that, have failed miserably. Poor moderation, banning LGBT+ content left and write while letting hate groups on the rise, and porn bots galore unmonitored has led to one of the most toxic social medias I've personally witnessed (though maybe that's not saying much, I've not been on many, and I've avoided Twitter like the plague).

But I can see how me just shouting "go play roblox" isn't enough for a fully nuanced take, and how that can be frustrating to hear too many times. To make my stance as clear as I can think to make it right now, for anyone who might be reading:

Teenagers: I beg of you to log off and be a teen, if only to rebel against a system that is working against you. The world is trying to strip you of your safe spaces, and you are currently in deep, deep shark infested waters. And yes, you are doing a remarkable job of hitting those sharks in the face with wood, but you shouldn't have to be. You should be able to do whatever the fuck you want without having to worry about the atrocities of the world; go be a kid somewhere where you're still allowed to be. You're at the age where it matters the most to hold onto those times and make those memories. Do not let capitalism, discourse, and ageism rob that from you.

And adults? You need to listen to this as well. It's different -- lord knows I get how it's different, I'm one of the oldest in my friendgroup and that has me reeling -- but you need to hold onto that childhood with every ounce of your being. The world is built to tear that childhood away from you. Cling to it while you can, but leave the childrens spaces for those who were already robbed of enough. Find your own ways to have those memories, or at least keep childrens spaces for the kids in spirit.

Of course! While I was lucky enough to never experience anything too bad as a kid, I work with kids now. Seeing how much bad stuff they can get exposed to from things that appear child-safe, such as Roblox and TikTok, I just feel obligated to keep this place child-safe as it’s concerning something made for kids!

27-year-old Darius Matylewich has been charged with first-degree kidnapping and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child after meeting an 11-year-old girl from Wayne, New Jersey, allegedly on Roblox, grooming her, then taking her 130 miles away from her home.

Matylewich convinced the girl to leave her home and go with him 130 miles away, across state lines. According to an ABC 7 report, police from the girl’s town were called around 6:45 a.m. on September 10 for a report of a missing child.

Thankfully, she was found soon after that, but there aren’t always happy endings to these types of stories.

Roblox is one of the most popular gaming platforms in the country with more than 50% of kids and teens under 16 playing daily. Nearly half of its users are under the age of 13. As of April 2021, Roblox has 202 million monthly active users.

And while a spokesperson for Roblox told HuffPost that Matyleqich and the 11-year-old didn’t meet on their platform based on their internal investigation and they have zero tolerance for sexual content of any kind, Jennifer Fetterman, the chief assistant prosecutor with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed in the article that the girl had communicated on several online gaming platforms—which included Roblox.

So how do we keep our kids safe while playing games online in our super connected world?

According to an article on ChildLine, parents need to have kids choose a safe username that doesn’t include anything about your child’s name or any identifying information, have their children be careful about what they share with others online, have them think about the people they’re playing with, and parents need to be vigilant about checking privacy settings, chats, purchases and gameplay.

Matylewich is in custody by local police and faces a maximum 30 years in state prison.
