outside of the fact that everyone who has sex is murdered by the narrative, this is a surprisingly chill portrayal of female sexuality? these teen girls are horny and actively enjoying Getting It On with their boytoys. no pushy boyfriends sneaking in through their bedroom windows--these ladies are taking the initiative to sneak out and GET SOME. one of them gets laid and then immediately orders her boyfriend to get her a beer. (yes she gets Slashered soon afterward, but so does the boyfriend so honestly, gender equality.) yes the Final Girl is the only one not having sex, but she's not bullied for that, nor are her friends slut shamed except possibly by being murdered by the narrative

actually the only character who is shown being morally condemned on-screen is michael myers. specifically FOR his violent overreaction to other people's sex lives. (people he is spying on). metaphorically, the villain is American Puritanism sticking its judgy nose into other people's business.

also the parents. where are the parents? it's halloween night and all the teenage girls are home babysitting their younger siblings? come to think of it, michael's first victim was his own older sister, whom he killed while she was babysitting him. teen girls are really shouldering a labour burden here. maybe parentification is the true villain

Saying that children who are being radicalised deserve to be bullied, sexually assaulted and robbed of safe spaces is both cruel and counterproductive. Kids who get lured with toxic ideologies need adult support and guidance. Them having traumas are only going to make them more hateful and force to seek power and protection. No one becomes a better and more open minded person from feeling unsafe and threatened.

James Potter doesn't have any authority over punishing people. Even if some of his victims were bad people and held harmful views, it gave him zero rights to target, hex and undress them. Saying that a crime ceases to be a crime because you don't like victim's morals is victimblaming at it's finest. Sexual offenders and bullies aren't heroes in shining armour for abusing "morally inferior" people, and their actions always stem from their cruelty and dehumanisation of those around them.

People who state otherwise aren't interested in actually solving problems like discrimination in favour of directing their aggression at "bad" people so that they can feel cheap moral superiority.

It kinda bothers me how people are so hyped up about the Barbie Movie™ that they keep framing it like the dolls were the best thing to ever happen to little girls. Like the creator's 'original intent' for her daughter or whatever doesn't stop it from being a capitalist venture that sculpted the toys isle from being for kids in favor of strict delineations between toys for boys and toys for girls. Believe it or not, but toys are more gendered now than they used to be, and that wall of pink in the toy isle is at least like 70% Barbie stuff. And like does anyone else remember when Barbie was like the antithesis of feminism? feminists used to rally against Barbie for being a toy forced upon girls that chipped away at their self esteem. GOD the damage Barbie has done to kid's body image over the decades. The amount of eating disorders that have come about bc girls were told to idolize Barbie's impossible proportions. And like Barbie in the 90's that said 'math class is tough', like THAT is Barbie history, and if you gloss over it with stuff made in the last 10 years of Barbie's woke facelift you're ignoring what Barbie MEANT for most of its existence.

Childhood shenanigans and acts of assholery of mine include:

Vicious Mockery of a teenage boy (our neighbor) who egged our house with his friend while they were cleaning the wall off (punishment decided on and approved of by the adults). I kept going past them on my little baby tricycle (I was maybe 4? 5? I was under 6) and making disparaging comments all the while. Bro looked like he was gonna pop a blood vessel before my mother noticed and shoo-ed me and my sibling away.

Around the same age I spent, like, at least an hour, maybe two, pestering this guy, a bit younger than my parents, at some get together my parents went to w/ their friends (and their friend's friends, of which, this poor dude was). I think I definitely made him seriously consider ever having kids because I was the embodiment of asking "why" and "unwitting adult who had just agreed to be my storytime audience" at that age, poor man was not doing well by the end. I think he may have been the only adult there completely unfamiliar with me, so in my little head he was akin to blood in the water for a shark or smth.

Had whole ass escape plans, down to the minute detail of exactly whose yards to cut through, where to use the back alleyways, and where to use the main streets in case of emergencies (kick-started by my father being an abusive fuck, cemented by our house being broken into one day while said abusive fuck was at work and we (mother, sibling, and me) were at said house). Alas police officers really do tend to poke holes into 7 year olds plans by virtue of longer legs and a willingness to assault small children. (There was a house about two blocks down (veeeeeery long street with multiple intersections) with, like, at least 4 cats and that was the end goal, alas.)

Speaking of seven year olds, clearly, the obvious answer to adults hurting you via enabling an abusive father is absolutely to make snow balled filled with rocks and ice and aiming for the face. I'd know, I did that. Unfortunately a 10-15 foot distance might be a bit of a feat at that age.

Also tricking a class of 9-10 year olds into bowing to a dragon tapestry in the hallway because they Won't Stop Bullying You is always funny, especially when you're the only one in the class who'd know if you're lying or not. (Being Chinese does not, in fact, mean you need to bow to every dragon you see as a sign of respect for the gods, but it sure was funny, and no, the dragon will not curse you for forgetting to bow.)

Very pointedly asking another kid about her crush on one of our classmates a la interview style at lunch because she'd done something similar to me a week prior. (She came up to me and told me it was "for an interview," before asking me point blank "how does it feel that no one wants to play with you any more since so-and-so came back to this school?" Before kind of leading the whole excluding-me-from-everything bit. Which. Was fun... So like a week later after we found out that her crush and friend would be moving states over the summer, I asked her at lunch if she was "ever going to tell blah-blah-blah that she liked him." At lunch. With our whole 3rd grade class. It wasn't my nicest move, but also literally everyone knew, including her crush/friend. But we were also all 9 or 10. So. Yeah.

In conclusion, I was a little shithead.
