firstly the island wasn't even a kingdom, in itself the change back into aristocracy would have people thrown back plus the guy don't even have royal blood??? he may be the "demon eater" and ward off monsters but the surprise would wear off and then what? he's not known or noble born or loved by the people, he's a legend but that's all! he needs to be known, loved and respected by his citizens!

thinking about kabru running himself to the ground trying to teach laios how to carry himself, organize banquets with nearby village leaders, organizing festivals and balls to increase morale

but what made me think all of this is how awful would be to teach laios ballroom dances, i don't doubt laios knows folk dances as the son of a village leader but try teaching that man how to waltz and you will know the meaning of having two left feet

I pity yaad and kabru for all hours spent in a lost cause, I think marcille would also try to help but with her dance moves....well,also falin is probably just as bad

mithrun can probably waltz (or some elven variant of it) as he has noble blood, so a week before the ball is filled with long days spent trying to teach him etiquette and long nights trying to teach him how to waltz (it would be romantic if kabru wasn't infuriated and about to pop a blood vessel)

i'm too tired and old to write long posts about shows anymore but can i just say how much i love haein and hyungwoo? both are complicated human beings trying to do better but struggling with trauma, loss, pressure and finding happiness without realising it's better to open up and work it out together? their journey is layered and interesting and i'm loving how many messy emotions the show's packed into it's lead pairing

i actually had a couple drabbles where yes ice both pre- and post-TGM mission is like yeah im physically attracted to you, but it’s less like “oh my god you’re so hot 😍” and more like “i mean, yeah, you objectively look like tom cruise so it’s not like i really have a choice.”

but “beautiful” specifically i had not thought of, and it has knocked me off my feet and made me go feral/rabid/undomesticated for a few days straight, so i will be writing something about this. thanks.

given the jarring difference between the chorus and the verses it sounds to me like two different points of view. the melodic part is obviously the tired artist "doomed to party", forced to stay out late at some club past its closing time when all he wants is to go home. meanwhile the verse is a member of the audience wanting an escape from their dull and lonely everyday life, going from one party to the next to avoid going home.

"Are you even old enough to drink that?" 

The dry drawled question makes you choke on the rum and coke Ortega had fetched from the bar for you. Alcohol burns your sinuses as you glare daggers at Steel. 

"What if I'm not?" you hiss, wiping your face roughly with a napkin. "You gonna arrest me?" 

His left eyebrow inches up as he sips his own drink, and the quiet judgment makes your teeth grind. Ever since you dared reveal your face to the Rangers, his respect and mild curiosity about you has devolved into nitpicking and prying that reminds you far too much of the handlers at the Farm, circling for perceived weakness like sharks scenting chum. 

"I just don't want you to get Ortega in trouble," he says with false innocence. "Seeing as you don't seem capable of buying your own drink."

You know it isn't a dig at your financial situation, that's beneath even him. He's trying to goad you into showing an ID you don't have. 

"I'm old enough," you grind out between clenched teeth. 

An unexpected hand touches your shoulder and you just barely manage to not leap out of your seat. "She is," Ortega says and settles in beside you as you scoot deeper into the booth. He winks at Steel, a smug I-know-more-than-you grin on his face. "Trust me."

That grin rankles you almost as much as Steel's suspicion, but you bite your tongue as Anathema makes him trade places so she's sitting across from you. A perverse joke about your decanting age itches the back of your mind, and you smother it with the urge to show them all just how wrong they are about you. 

You still can't decide if it was worth it to show your face to them. But it must be because you keep coming back for more.

not me popping back on here with a post after months of semi-inactivity (uni is being a bitch) just to reiterate how much i love writing the pahkitew island cast.

aside from sammy and amy (obviously), literally everyone else can be shipped with one another and it'd make sense to some degree, like it takes skill to create a group of people so inherently shippable (platonically and/or romantically) and ofc the writers didn't know it they just shoved a bunch of random ppl together and dusted their hands off on it but fr tho 😭

(yeah im planning out my leonave 'stranger things inspired' au, and the gears are turning, and i forgot just how much i love writing for this dumbass group)

Yes the USA needs to provide more resources to mothers and families. But no matter where you live if you choose to have kids you're going to see a difference in lifestyle. And not giving in to passive aggressive complaints about not providing free babysitting doesn't make OP a bad feminist.
