#how to save hike data on phone

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi. There are far too many things going on at once. My shitty classmates didn't collaborate with paying the last assignment and had to pay $40k pesos out of my pocket, along with a refill of my medicine that was also a painful $40k pesos. Expressing this in dollars is painful because 100 dollars does not feel close to what the inflation has done to obliterate buying power. Along with this i lost my phone and official dollar went up the double, which will soon reflect on the rest of the prices. Industrial sectors have been halted since a week ago until parallel dollar is established again (gotta love speculation!) and thus i do not have work as they won't sell anything. I was waiting until this monday where supposedly we could restart sells
As the cherry on top, on the weekend a giant storm took over and the province woke up this sunday without power and trees cutting the cables or even breaking their houses
Thankfully we only lost non-essential roofing and nothing else. But power will clearly not be restored until at least a week, between the ongoing rain and the amount of infraestructural damage (these are down my street, rest of the neighborhood has more ripped lightposts). Entire zone is out of wifi and mobile data (am typing this from a gas station while waiting for a spot to charge my phone 🥲)
My biggest concern is the food, as the heat still is precent (today thankfully is colder) and our food will inevitably spoil as our family and friends don't have power either to save something at least. That's a loss that will be very expensive, as if the rest wasn't enough already
If you'd like to help me with a dollar or two, it'd be thoroughly appreciated. If you can't or don't want to, please check up on your argentine friends to see how they are managing. Last month's inflation registered at 12,8%, adding to the 160,9% yearly, and with no doubt the business that won't open this week will have to hike up prices to compensate

eSIM technology offers convenience, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness for travelers visiting Europe
Choosing the right eSIM provider and plan is crucial for seamless connectivity and avoiding unexpected charges

Data allowances, pricing, activation process, and customer support are key factors to consider when selecting the best eSIM for Europe travel
Real-world experiences and recommendations from travelers provide valuable insights into the performance of popular eSIM providers
Understanding eSIM Technology
Traveling today means staying connected digitally. eSIM technology changes how we get mobile networks abroad. Let's explore how best esim for europe can make your travels better.https://youtu.be/rdzUPgg7mUY
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is like a digital SIM card. It's built into your device, not removable like a traditional SIM. This lets you have many network profiles on one device. No need to change SIMs when you travel.
Advantages of Using an eSIM for Travel
Using an eSIM for travel is super convenient. You can switch between networks easily without changing SIMs. This means you're always connected as you move, even if your traveling alone.
eSIMs also save you money. You can buy local data plans without high roaming fees. This is great for any trip length.
Another big plus is security. No physical SIM means less chance of loss or damage. Plus, eSIMs are harder to hack, keeping your data safe.
If you worry about device support, don't. More devices now support eSIMs. This makes it easy to stay connected in Europe and more.
Tumblr media
Choosing the Best eSIM Plan for Your Needs
When picking the best eSIM plan for your European trip, think about your travel needs. Consider how long you'll stay, where you'll go, and how much data you'll use. This helps you pick an eSIM plan that fits your needs perfectly, making your trip smooth and affordable.
Let's look at some common travel situations and suggest the right eSIM plans for each:
For a quick weekend trip, pick a plan with less data and a short time limit. This saves you money on unused data or time.
On a week-long vacation, choose a plan with enough data and a time frame that covers your trip. This lets you share your adventures and stay in touch with family and friends.
For longer trips or visiting many countries, go for a plan with more data and a longer time limit. This gives you the freedom to use data as you need without worrying about running out or needing to top up often.
It's important to guess how much data you'll use when picking an eSIM plan. Think about how you usually use your phone, like browsing, using maps, and sharing photos. Knowing how much data you use helps you pick a plan that's just right for you, without spending too much on unused data.
Pro Tip: To use less data and avoid extra charges, use Wi-Fi whenever you can, especially for big downloads or streaming. Also, turn off automatic updates and background data for apps you don't need.
By carefully thinking about your travel plans and data needs, you can confidently choose the best eSIM plan for your European adventure. Whether you're wandering through Paris, hiking in the Swiss Alps, or enjoying the Mediterranean beaches, the right eSIM plan keeps you connected and enhances your travel experience.
Best eSIM for Europe: Key Considerations
When picking the best eSIM for Europe, think about data, cost, setup, and support. These factors help you have a smooth and affordable mobile data experience.
Data Allowances and Pricing
Choosing an eSIM for Europe means looking at data and cost. Providers offer different data packages for various needs and budgets. Some have lots of data for less money, while others cost more.
Think about how much data you'll use. If you'll be online a lot, choose a big data package. For light use, a smaller package might be enough. Some providers let you add more data later, which is handy.
Tumblr media
Activation and Setup Process
The esim activation process is key. Easy setup makes your experience better. Look for providers with simple steps and clear instructions.
Some providers let you activate your eSIM online, without a physical card or store visit. This saves time. Also, check if your device can use eSIMs. Make sure your device and the provider's list match before buying.
Customer Support and Reliability
Good customer support is crucial when traveling. Choose an eSIM provider with reliable esim customer support. Look for providers with quick, helpful teams, available by email, phone, or chat.
"I had an amazing experience with the customer support team when I ran into an issue with my eSIM activation. They were prompt, friendly, and went above and beyond to resolve my problem, ensuring I had a smooth travel experience."
Read reviews to learn about providers' reliability and support. Focus on feedback about network, speed, and user experience. A provider with good support means you can travel without worry, knowing you have a reliable mobile data solution.

The next-generation iPhones, the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Ultra (Pro Max), will both have chassis made of titanium when they are eventually introduced to the market. This will be in stark contrast to the steel chassis that is included in the currently available variants of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max. This is the most important piece of data that has been made public about these models. Some customers have expressed their dissatisfaction with the iPhone 14 Pro Max in particular due to its higher weight, as well as the pointed edges, which can be seen on both the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max. Both of these features can be seen on both versions. In spite of the undeniable truth that the use of stainless steel has unquestionably contributed to the opulent appearance of the most recent flagship versions of the iPhone, this is the case. The weight of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is a heavy 240 grammes, which is only 13 grammes less than the weight of Samsung's most current hybrid phone and tablet, the Galaxy Z Fold5 series. The dimensions of the iPhone 14 Pro Max are 7.7 millimetres in height, 5.5 millimetres in width, and 7.3 millimetres in depth. Image Credit to Apple Features of iPhone 15 Pro & Ultra: This is anticipated to change with the introduction of new iterations of the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra, both of which will transition to a chassis made of titanium and also include a design that is more curved in order to provide a more comfortable fit in the hand. These alterations are going to be made in advance of the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone Ultra later on this year. Even though it is common knowledge that titanium has the same strength as steel but is around forty percent lighter, nobody knows the precise amount by which the new models will be lighter than the ones that are already available. This is in spite of the fact that it is anyone's estimate how much lighter the new models will be than the ones that are already available. Due to the fact that the front and back of the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra will still continue to be constructed of glass, this does not suggest that the new versions will be 40% lighter than their predecessors. This is because glass is more transmissive than metals, which is a characteristic that must be taken into consideration while attempting to optimise the wireless signal connection that is located on the back of the device. A well-known leaker who uses the handle Tech_Reve (Revegnus) has been responsible for the disclosure of information on the predicted weight reductions. It is expected that the weight of the iPhone 15 Pro will be reduced to 191 grammes, which is a decrease of 15 grammes when compared to the weight of the iPhone 14 Pro, which weighed 206 grammes. It is anticipated that the weight of the iPhone 15 Ultra will be reduced by 19 grammes, lowering it from 240 grammes to a more manageable 221 grammes. Currently, the iPhone 15 Ultra weighs 240 grammes. At the moment, the Apple iPhone 15 Ultra has a weight of 240 grammes. Assuming that these specifications are genuine, both models offer huge weight savings, which demonstrates one of the apparent advantages of switching from steel to titanium for Apple's next-generation flagship iPhones. The iPhone XS Max is a good example of this. The "aerospace-grade" titanium that is used in the construction of the Apple Watch Ultra that is now on the market is the material that Apple advertises as delivering "the perfect balance between weight, ruggedness, and corrosion resistance. " The higher cost of the material steel, which may be quite a bit more than the price of the material titanium, is the most obvious disadvantage of converting from titanium to steel. Titanium is much more expensive. This is consistent with predictions that the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra would suffer major price hikes, and there is a strong suspicion that each model would face price increases of at least US$200 across the board for all of the different storage choices.
This is in line with speculations that the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra would witness significant price increases. Source(s)

ADVANTAGES OF WIRELESS INTERNET
Tumblr media
For some Internet users, it's difficult to determine which internet service providers provides the best service. There are numerous wisp crm providers that offer many options, how can you decide which one is best for your lifestyle, budget and routine data usage?
Internet service users have two options when selecting an internet service provider: wired and wireless internet. Each connection type has its own distinct list of advantages and drawbacks. But wireless internet provides a variety of advantages which make your internet experience more reliable, enjoyable and easily accessible. The benefits of wireless internet will save you cash, time and provide you with more freedom compared to wired connections. There are a variety of wisp software that are available in the market
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WIRED AS WELL AS WIRELESS INTERNET CONNECTIONS
Like the name suggests, wired internet relies on physical connections between the device of the user as well as their provider. Service providers are able to provide wired internet to their customers in various ways.
Dial-up or DSL is accessible via normal phone lines.
Cable internet utilizes TV cables to send as well as receive Internet signals.
Broadband service connects via an underground network of fibre-optic cables.
However, wireless internet utilizes over-the-air signals in order to offer services to customers. Satellite Internet is one kind of wireless internet. Satellites orbiting orbits send signals between the users as well as the websites they load into their browsers for web browsing.
Another method of wireless internet service is to use radio waves to send digital information to customers. Some companies use cell phone towers to connect their customers to the internet. A portable modem lets users access the internet from almost any device with WiFi capabilities. Some smartphones have mobile hotspot features that allow them to use radio signals coming from their phone for connecting other gadgets to the web. There are many cloud-hosted hotspot management software that are available.
The reliability that your signal receives can be dependent on several variables. Satellite services are impacted by physical obstacles like mountains, trees or weather conditions could make it difficult to establish a stable connection. These issues have less impact on radio wave-based services. However, those in areas with no strong signal from their cell may require boosters to make the most of their mobile phone.
THE BENEFITS OF WIRELESS INTERNET
Wireless connections remain the most preferred method for both businesses and families to connect to the internet. But there are several reasons that people prefer wireless internet over traditional connections.
PORTABILITY
Users are limited in their choice of connectivity if they use wired connection. With wireless internet that is radio-based users are able to take their internet connection wherever they go. If you're on an individual hike or wandering through open houses or just relaxing in your friends' backyard, you'll be able to access the internet via WiFi-capable devices. There are also WiFi solutions for university
AFFORDABLE
Broadband internet services that are high-speed require a substantial investment in infrastructure. They often transfer their expenses onto their customers and this results in huge monthly bills for utilities. Wireless satellite services also require large usage charges. Wireless internet that is radio-based uses towers for cell phones that are widely available and readily accessible. The lower operating costs for service providers mean lower costs for subscribers.
IT IS EASY TO SHARE
When using a wired connection residents may experience difficulty connecting their signals to multiple devices. Installing a wireless router can be an option to make sure that all your guests can connect to your internet. One of the advantages from wireless broadband is that users do not require additional equipment to share the service with other devices within their range.
IT IS AVAILABLE IN REMOTE AREAS
Rural internet users are often faced with very restricted options. The expense of offering services to areas that have low population isn't always worth the expense of broadband service providers. Instead of settling for slow-moving dial-up connections, or expensive satellite services rural residents can benefit from affordable and reliable internet access.
Wireless internet provides you with the possibility of staying connected when you're on move, without having to carry heavy equipment and wires in buckets. Accessing internet via cell phone towers is also one of the most affordable methods to get internet access.
If you're in search of wifi bandwidth software services, you can contact Xceednet which provides all related internet-related services.

Hidden Spy App: The modern-day spy tool to hear surrounding voices
Tumblr media
No matter what parents do, kids and teenagers often find a way to get out of trouble as soon as possible. They can keep themselves away from the eyes of their parents in all possible manners. Hidden spy app is a modern-day spy tool that can now allow you to hear surround voices near your target cell phone at any time when you want.
Sometimes it’s not the parents, but the employers who want to know how their employees are behaving with their customers. In this scenario also, a hidden call recorder application comes of great use.
These are the two scenarios in which most parents and employers feel dubious about the activities of their kids and working staff. They want to actively listen to the voices of their employees and always wish to know whether they behave appropriately or not.
Social media addiction
Social media addiction is a modern-day disease that has gotten into the veins of all kids and teenagers. When it comes to teens, most teenagers are either addicted to cell phones, computers, or in some cases tablets as well. These platforms provide so much freedom to youngsters to explore the world around them. There are several social media applications available in the market including Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Tinder, Hike, and more.
All of the above-listed applications provide numerous opportunities for kids and teenagers to interact with the world around them. They may exchange phone numbers, share text messages, make phone calls, and in some cases may even meet strangers living in the neighborhood.
Although these tiny tech gadgets are of great use in most scenarios, there are occasions when these tech creatures could turn into troublemakers for teens and employers.
Are smartphones and PCs Troublemakers?
If we only look at the basic operations of both of these machines, both of these machines ideally are not troublemakers. Whether it’s a smartphone or a computer, when both devices are used just for some specific purposes only, they can never become a troublemaker for the user. However, the internet has now created a limitless world for all its users. Hence, if it’s your child or employee using a cell phone, the internet can be a reason to create trouble in the lives of our dear ones.
How do smart devices trouble teenagers?
Young kids and teens use mobile phones to connect with strangers these days. In a few phone calls, they become friends with them and often meet them instantly. They share emails, photos, songs, videos, and even video chat with them regularly.
Also, today the youth has learned plenty of ways to do illegal activities and do all the most dangerous possible things with the help of the internet itself. Additionally, today they know all the ways to hide their whereabouts from their peers when they are partying or substance abuse and in some cases, they may also fall into the trap of premature sexual encounters.
It’s fatigue for business owners
Employers invest huge sums of money in smartphones, laptops, the internet, and all the necessary things to facilitate their working staff to operate righteously and deliver the best service to their customers. They also offer the costliest Windows and MAC laptops to their employees. But on the other hand, employees use these devices for their personal use. They use these devices to make personal calls and share personal text messages. Ultimately it damages the whole working environment and the productivity of the firm.
Install ONEMONITAR hidden call recorder app to monitor all of their activities with one click

forum post by ell on Hauntologician, 11/05/2010 (excerpt)
Across the literature, we find that habit is one root of haunting. The input-output function, though, is not as simple as: the ghost is what continues on in the habits one has cultivated in life. The Spiritualist theory that a ghost is the living spirit’s continued presence in the world after/beyond the living body has fallen out of fashion. I will not go so far as to say it has been debunked, but I feel pretty strongly that in this case, current fashions are more on the right track. (Because I’ve been taken out of context before, I want to clarify that I don’t mean to say that Spiritualist researchers of the last century, or my postspiritualist colleagues here, have not done or are not doing good work—the data is pretty often sound, and I see no inherent procedural flaws in running that data through the computations of a different hauntology.) In other words, the ghost is not something that was there in a life that remains after the end of a life. (Which is not to say that the living do not have ghosts—@azumerrill is doing some interesting work there, I believe.) The way I like to put it is that a ghost is like a path: rather than being a being stuck here in the repetition of a certain habit, a ghost is something which comes about as a result of habitual wear. When we see a footpath worn in the dirt, we know someone has been there before many times.
What makes a ghost different from a path is that the ghost appears to the senses as something one can’t properly place. (The obligatory gesture: we owe the uncanny, as a technical term in this context, to the German unheimlich, literally “unhomelike”.) Something that is out of its sensible place or time, that makes nonsense of place/time. A path through the grass is not uncanny if we can understand how and why somebody (or many somebodys) over the months cut across the lawn instead of taking the sidewalk. On the other hand, following what you believe to be a hiking path to a point in the woods where the compacted dirt turns to knee-high grass and continues on for another quarter mile and more by the time that you turn around and find when you get back to camp and look around for phone signal to check the satellite image of the place which shows you something you’ve never seen before, a faint system of depressed lines in the green canopy like a printout maze, with one central trail, the one you had been following, connecting all these lines into something like a huge pinnate leaf—this path would be uncanny, even suggestive of spirits to one who was then unfamiliar with the entirely mundane remains of skid roads left by commercial logging, to give an example from my own experience.
Perhaps familiarity with the habits of commercial logging would dispel the air of ghostliness from its paths—and there it is, I stray too close to “not believing in ghosts”. I blame some of the more capitalistic Spiritualists (though emphatically, not all or even most of them) for a certain fetishization of “belief”—it seems to me to be a mode of authentication for commodification, or, in other words, branding. Consumer skepticism and suspended disbelief for the duration of a ghost tour are, of course, two sides of the same coin. This affective play of belief and disbelief is part of the commercial medium’s business model (medium in the sense of a person who talks to ghosts, but also any text concerning ghosts, including our present web host Hauntologician). If ghosts are what speak across the gaps left in an economy that has its own mystification and alienation built in, would a demystified economy and unalienated social order implode and banish the ghost? It might. Utopia might be a place without ghosts. But we are not there, of course, we find ourselves unmistakably and so far inescapably in this world, inside the economy/ecology of the haunted house, and so as a researcher I limit myself to the field of hauntology, and save ontology for utopia.

Nevertheless, in terms of functionality, you'll be hard-pressed to find a service that does everything Evernote does, which is why it remains an Editors' Choice. Evernote has long been a leader among note-taking apps, though the company has taken its fair share of criticism over the years for hiking prices, gutting the free version, and not addressing major concerns that power users raise. When it comes to taking notes and using them to get work done, having an app that syncs across all your devices and has a browser version, too, is indispensable.

I'm not sure if that's a good thing
“Well you’re definitely the first.” This past week, we screened-in the eastern facing porch on the side of the cabin. The porch slopes to the South, with the brick-on-dirt floor crumbling in that direction as well until it reaches uneven slabs of stone acting as steps down to the “yard” below. A mixed material retaining wall wraps beneath the steps to the south facing garage, holding up one corner of the narrow deck on the front of the house. The deck, in the heat of a high altitude summer, droops off the house like it’s daydreaming about the winter snow’s embrace. It’s safe to sit on, though I would not recommend leaning on the railing.
Tumblr media
The side porch takes the brunt of the wind. Our wooden rocking chairs have been rocked some 20 feet into the yard more than once in the two months we lived here. In the myriad of threats we heard about the weather, most people included the wind. We all know how I feel about this ongoing weather intimidation tactic. I asked, “what speed are the gusts?” “Oh, they get up to 70 miles per hour on some days.” This was the first quantifiable piece of weather information someone had offered — an actual number we could react to with data and our historical personal experiences of various weather events. And our reaction was: uhhhh…. OK???? Look, I get it. No one’s preaching the skin benefits of -20 degree wind gusts at 70 mph, building snow drifts against your house in the span of minutes that Cooper could die in. I am not going to pretend that’s pleasant. But 70 mph? Any wind I’ve driven faster than does not intimidate me. I used to rally the horses at 12 years old in winds over 70mph to get them in the barn before the latest tornado whipped through. I helped shutter the resort in the BVI as the Category 5 hurricane rolled in. Even in Topanga, 70 mile per hour gusts were not uncommon in Santa Ana events. We had our single pane windows shatter more than once from debris in the wind. We taped cardboard up and went to sleep. That “70 mph” was all I needed to hear to confirm our next project: we were going to build a catio for these cats, and we were going to do it on the pre-existing porch structure to save time and money. We spent a week framing out the structure. We had to carve into the logs of the house to embed the wood supports for the framing.
Tumblr media
And from there, every piece of wood was custom carved and cut to fit around the existing timber supports. The existing porch was so wildly uneven that there are gaps between each piece of old wood and the new framing. Our plan is to mix all the wood chips from the project with mortar/chinking and stuff the gaps — a good solution for the log cabin look. We built a plywood pony wall up to 28 inches from the interior of the porch, which gives a height of ~4-5ft from the exterior ground below. It’s capped with a 2x6” railing for even the fluffiest of cats to find a perch. The exterior will be wrapped with corrugated metal that we’ll quick-age to match the metal that wraps the bottom of the cabin. On the interior of the porch, we’ll use shiplap to hide the framing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The screens themselves can withstand winds up to 120 mph, but to-be-determined if they can hold the weight of a growing maniac cat who has already tried to climb them. In the event the screens succumb to cat (or wind or snow or neighbor judgment) we’ll reinforce with metal mesh. We’re going to maintain this screen porch regardless of what the screen is. We had the pleasure of running into one of our more industrious neighbors the other day, and Ben asked him, “hey we’re building a screen porch. Is this a terrible idea?” He laughed. “Well you’re definitely the first.” But he liked it. Great way to diminish wind into the house. Simple way to regulate the temperature with massive south-facing windows. And indeed a practical outdoor safe haven for cats in predator territory. Just because you’re the first doesn’t mean you’re foolish — just foolhardy. There’s plenty of that here. This town has the typical mountain town’s truncated version of a colonizers’ history: “established 1881.” But it was plenty established prior to that by the Uncompahgre Band of the Ute Nation, removed by the U.S. Army on September 7, 1881, nearly 140 years ago. The government relocated the Uncompahgre Ute People to Utah, and one year after the Ute were forcibly removed from their ancestral land, San Miguel County split off from Ouray County and was made its own political subdivision in the newly-formed State of Colorado. In 1879, the ore-laden valley already had 50 people living in it, with a new narrow gauge railway only 2 miles away. By 1885, it was a town of 200 people. There was a hotel, a couple saloons, a pool hall. Winters were treacherous; the valley was and is prone to avalanches. But where there’s gold, there’s gumption. The power needed to run the stamp mill to process ore drove innovation. Timber was scarce at such high elevations, so a wood powered steam mill wouldn’t cut it. But the San Miguel River just a few miles down from the mine looked promising. Thus began the development and construction of the Ames Hydroelectric Generating Plant. It was a hit. In fact, it was so successful that the Ames Plant led to the adoption of alternating currents at Niagara Falls and eventually to being adopted worldwide as a viable power solution. The plant remains, but the gold rush obviously didn’t. By 1940, the U.S. Census declared this little town I call home as tied for the lowest population in the country: 2 people. By 1960, it was one of four incorporated towns in the U.S. with no residents. But the joke was on the Census — the town’s single resident was just out of town the day the census came through. 1960 population: 1. By 1980 the population grew to 38, 69 in 1990, and about 180 now. (Plus 51 dogs according to the town’s website.) With modern amenities, it’s easier to be here. Studded snow tires, satellite internet, solar panels, instant coffee. No matter the hardships, there’s the reality of the present. In the 1880s, as the town boomed, the Ouray Times declared, “it will be at no distant day a far more pretentious town than it is now.” That day hasn’t exactly arrived, but I guess it depends on what you consider pretentious. I don’t think the town claims any airs of excellence beyond what’s true. In fact, the town hardly claims anything at all. There’s no sign indicating it’s even here. There’s just the old side and the new side. The new side, the Eastern half, was drawn out in the early 1990s, some 100 years later, and is separated from the Old Town by an avalanche zone—preserved open space for hiking in the summer, preserved open space for surviving in the winter. The town forbids short-term rentals, no one has a fence, dogs roam free, and all the houses have that cabin look to them. A boulder nests in a grove near a trailhead in the center of town with a plaque paying respect to the Utes who called this valley home. There’s no industry here. No businesses allowed. If you want a $7 latte, you can drive the 14 miles required to get it, assuming there’s not an avalanche blocking your path. You can, however, buy a pink lemonade in a
solo cup at the permanent lemonade stand run by the local feral child mafia. Crystals (rocks) can be purchased for an additional cost. We bought one, hoping to buy favor at the same time. The town plan has a few guiding principles, and it’s all in the name of preservation. We must preserve: 1 - the quiet atmosphere 2 - the rustic character 3 - the natural setting
And finally: 4 - protect the health and wellbeing of the people here No snowmobiles, no ATVs, no drones. In fact, the only sign of the outside world here are the passers-through. When you take the dirt road through town to the end, you enter National Forest, and you can hike over the pass saddle at nearly 12,000 feet before descending down the other side into Silverton. The pass road climbs rutted through an aspen forest before scaling across a scree field and then lurching over to the other side. Every day, it seems like 30 or so Texans and Arizonans in lifted and loud Jeeps with unused mods climb over this mountain in the comfort of their air conditioning, simply to drive down the other side. You could hike it, ride it, run it, and ski it, but they don’t. They rev their engines, kicking up dust in a town of feral children and roaming dogs, staring at us instead of waving. I’ve lived here for two months and look how salty I am. I’ll fit in yet. But today, there is a temperature that whispers of perfect trails and the dwindling of ogglers driving 35 in a 15. It’s already snowed in the mountains we see from our kitchen. Today, like a dedication to the Septembers of our youth, you can feel a chill in the air. A temperature akin to pencils and sweaters and reinventing yourself. A temperature that doesn’t exactly sing “screen porch” but could if you had the right slippers on. That’s what I did this morning: put my slippers on and sat there in the cool mountain morning air, thinking about the cemetery behind our house, about the Ute tribe, about the miners, about the mailman who died on Christmas in 1875 on the pass, about the 5 people who died in avalanches here just last year, about the people in their cars on their phones driving through, and all the people who’s very first question to us was, “so are you gonna live here part-time or full-time?” Maybe it will be a hard place to live. But at least we’ll have a screen porch.

Sorry for taking so long to do this but it's finally here! I must say Atobe, Tezuka and Sanada are my babies and I had a lot of fun doing this. Because Atobe is way to extra and Sanada is way to awkward XD
Atobe:
• He's the most open about acknowledging it. Kind of "Oh okay, Ore-sama has a crush. How do I get them?"
• And then he goes all out:
- Remember that time they mentioned they kind of wanted a new phone because the camera lens was dusty and they couldn't find time to clean it? Now they have a new phone.
- Remember when they said their PC was a bit slow? Yup. Now they have a new computer.
- Remember that time they asked for a pony for Christmas? Guess what... They really need to tell Atobe to stop. For the sake of common sense.
If they don't ask him to stop, he WON'T. Clothes, tech, trips, whatever they ask for they have it.
• Now. If they tell him to stop, they will. And if they see that buying things isn't working or that they are just accepting out of politeness, he'll find some other ways to woe them.
• And then he goes all out. Again:
- Flowers on their desk EVERY morning
- Picking them up from home and then taking them back there on his limusine. (May have taken them to school on Sunday accidentally once. Who knows.)
- The most expensive Belgian chocolates
- Going down their window to recite them poetry on a white horse
So basically now he has forsaken the "Let's be a sugar daddy" for the "let's be a romantic gentleman".
And really. Atobe. Just. Ask them out.
• "Wait. I didn't?"
"Atobe. You literally only had to ask and all of this is completely unnecessary"
"So... You'll go out with Ore-sama, right?"
*Sigh* "Yes. Yes I will."
• And at this point, his s/o isn't even surprised that he rented out a whole theatre for just the two of them.
• Having said that. If his s/o REALLY hates it. He will be a bit more low-key. He knows better that being way too pushy on them.
Tezuka:
• He takes some time to acknowledge it. Confusing his feelings at first with admiration. Until all his team is basically calling his crush "his partner" and Tezuka tells them they're not dating. That's when he realises. "Oh. I'd... Actually like that, though."
• His teammates try to give him advice. He hangs up on them every time. Even in person. He knows better than to trust them with any kind of love advice.
• His courtship is a lot more subdued. Asking to walk them home at first, and if that's met with acceptance he'll try to ask for a date. Something non-commiting like going to a museum or hiking or fishing if his crush is into it. Something he can always say "just as friends" if he sees reluctance.
• Once he goes past that, and he sees that his s/o is comfortable enough with hanging out with him he'd finally ask them out officially. "Next trip... Would it be fine if we make it a date?"
Sanada:
• His crush finds out he has a crush before he himself realises. And once he does he's in complete denial. "Yukimura, I don't have time for such non-sense" "Renji, your data is clearly wrong this time" "Akaya fifty laps around the courts!"
• At some point he just has to accept it though. Because he loses his breath every time his crush talks to him and there's no way that THAT isn't a crush.
• And what does he do about it? Nothing. He just tries to be the less awkward he can. Which isn't much. Because if his crush as much as smiles at him he hides behind his cap so no-one sees him blushing.
• They study together, and have dates which are basically Yukimura and Renji asking them out and then "Oops we had plans. Have fun the two of you." Someone bless this two.
• And then one day he finally gathers the strength and confesses with a: "(S/o/N), I... I know I'm not the best at this kind of things but... Would you... Would you give me the chance to date you?"
• And really, it was about time and his s/o should have probably confessed first and saved him the internal struggle. But it's been worth it. Because once he confesses he knows that he's 100% sure that they are the person he wants by his side.

Aqua: Kyouya, so help me, if he dies because he doesn't have your wallet, I will never forgive you.
Kyouya: Fine. *gives Kazuma his wallet* Here.
Kazuma: Car keys.
Aqua: *points at Kazuma as Kyouya gives him his car keys* There you go sir.
Kazuma: Social security number.
Kyouya: What? No, no, okay, no, no, no way. Listen why would he need my social security number?
Aqua: Ugh, okay. He can have mine.
Kyouya: Aqua!
Aqua: 000-12-8855.
Kyouya: Wait, that's mine.
Aqua: Oh, sorry. I forget that that one's yours. *Kazuma takes Kyouya's bag and gets up*
Kyouya: Wait, why do you have mine in the first place?
Kazuma: Thank you *walks away*
Aqua: *hugs Kyouya* Oh, we just saved that man's life.
Kyouya: Great, yeah. Except he took everything. The food, the water, and then in my case probably my identity.
Aqua: Yeah, but don't you feel so good for helping him?
Kyouya: I guess so.
Aqua: Yeah.
Kazuma: *comes back* Girlfriend? *Aqua goes with Kazuma*
Kyouya: What?
Aqua: Sorry Kyouya. I got to do this. *Kazuma and Aqua leave*
Kyouya: Aqua? *sadly lowers his head*

Botanical Tales of the PCT
by Matt Berger
A love for hiking and the natural world has always been a part of me. My first long distance backpacking trip, approaching 100 miles, happened when I was 14 at Philmont Scout Ranch. Carrying a 45-pound pack despite weighing a whopping 110 pounds while trekking the Rocky Mountains of New Mexico was physically grueling. Between the pain and welcome trailside respites I began noticing and taking photos of cool and seemingly exotic (as a mid-western Ohioan) plants along the trail. This trek, and the wild places I fell in love with as a 14 year old, was just the beginning of my journey.
Tumblr media
I also had a passion for insects, reptiles, and amphibians that began as far back as I can remember—having collected dozens of field guides to identify these critters. Thanks to my experiences in nature,  I turned to collecting and reading wildflower and tree field guides. My passions also turned me into a collector. Seeds from plants I’d find on weekend Scout trips were brought home and sown in home-made milk jug potters. After a few years of this, a native plant garden—packed with biodiversity—spread across my backyard in garden beds I usurped from my parents. I was officially hooked on botany.
I went to college at West Virginia University in the Appalachian Mountains studying horticulture. One summer, I returned to Philmont as an adult leader for another long distance backing trip  with my friend Jon, and this time suffering was replaced with joy. These experiences led Jon to suggest an Appalachian Trail thru-hike when we graduated. With degrees in hand, we started the AT in Maine southbound in late June 2012… and I was humbled by the mountains once again. Having done minimal research into long distance hiking, I carried standard, heavy, gear and some nonsense items like a machete, fishing pole, and a sling shot. After four days, my right Achilles tendon started tearing and I had to get off trail in the Hundred Mile Wilderness. This hard lesson led me to drop 20 lbs from my pack whence I returned to the trail and met up with Jon. After that, the trail was fantastic. With the pain of hiking gone, the experience became about nature, friends, and living simply. Hiking also became research oriented. When I arrived in towns, and cell service allowed, I would look to identify the plants and fungi I’d photographed. When we finished the trail in early December, I found a job near the southern-terminus, growing plants in North Carolina—putting my horticulture degree to use!
After a year of growing plants in the greenhouses while dreaming non-stop about the Appalachian Trail and thru hiking, I realized I was more interested in plants in their natural environment than I was in growing them. What better way to see thousands of plant species, in habitat, than a thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail? So, I saved up money and in April of 2014, started my first of two thru hikes of the PCT. I hadn’t hiked out west much, so virtually all the plants were new. Thus, began my photographic obsession with the PCT—I strove to document every unique species I saw the entire hike—and look them up in town or after the hike. I took thousands of photos of plants I would not identify until years later. On top of the cool plants, I had the time of my life. Astonishing views were complemented by the diverse habitats. Botany and thru hiking had become an addiction.
Tumblr media
Modern technology, particularly georeferenced photos, allows for new and exciting approaches to understanding the natural world—like citizen science. Citizen science is participation by the general public in scientific undertakings (like observations) and research (uploading observations to databases). Photos of the natural world taken on smart phones can be uploaded to websites like Calflora (plants in California) or iNaturalist (all living things anywhere on Earth). With photos ready to upload, it is also important to enter other data about the observations like how many you saw, phenology, habitat, etc. This data is then available to other users and scientists whouse it to improve range maps, confirm new occurrences of something rare, or track the spread of invasive species!
In 2019 when I returned to hike the PCT again, I felt like a super-naturalist because I knew way more about what I was seeing. I took tens of thousands of photos and I uploaded every species I saw to citizen science sites. What is most exciting is finding range extensions for rare species. These help scientists gain a better understanding of species’ distributions and habitat preferences.  One of my coolest range extensions came with the documentation of Piute mountains triteleia (Triteleia piutensis) in 2014 and again in 2019. This rare plant was first described to science in 2014, exactly one month before I saw the plant on my first PCT hike! I lacked photographic georeferencing abilities in 2014, but in 2019 I recorded the plant in 3 different locations along the PCT, all of which were new, previously unknown occurrences! Another plant that surprised me, and one that I wasn’t even aware of, was Collomia mazama. This beautiful blue wildflower is only found in the Crater Lake area, and I found two new populations of this species growing right along the trail! Also observed were new occurrences the recently described Claytonia serpenticola, which grows in the Klamath Mountains right along the trail. It may be more common than presently known due to it looking very similar to the common Claytonia lanceolata. Populations of these and other rare plants are protected by law, so these days, something as simple as a photo of a cool plant can have real-world importance in protecting biodiversity!
Tumblr media
Triteleia piutensis
I encourage you to look closer on your next hike and you very well may find a rare plant growing along the trail. For me, waking up before a day of hiking is full of anticipation surrounding what is going to be seen that day. Even on the toughest climbs I encourage you to always be curious and observe what you are walking by.
Starting on February 16th, and for a total of five consecutive Tuesday nights, I will be sharing the tales of plants along the Pacific Crest Trail via a Zoom Webinar. I hope you can join me!
