Acclimating to life in Home

★The simplicity of the world feels almost alien, yet it has a strange charm. Before, you could have the answer to any question in a matter of minutes thanks to the internet. Now, you need to ask Frank or search for a book on the subject.

★ Microwave ovens are rare, there’s no such thing as video games and you can forget about your phone. Because there's no way for you to charge it. Making the once necessary item practically useless.

★ Speaking of video games, when Julie walked up to you and asked "What’s your favorite game?" you froze for a second. Almost telling her the name of a video game you love, but stop yourself just in time. How would you even explain that to her? No, you'll just tell her you like tag, or something else of the sort.

★ Sure, the records in Home are nice and all, but the songs you love simply don’t exist. That's one of the hardest things to adjust to. You still hum the melodies sometimes. And every now and then, your humming catches the attention of one of the neighbors. When this happens you get the opportunity to teach them songs that they haven't heard yet.

★ Not being able to doom scroll is actually pretty nice. All the noise of your phone was weighing you down, and you didn't even know it! The closest you could get to scrolling is watching a movie with Wally. That, in your opinion, is infinitely better.

★ Thankfully there is plenty to do in home. You know what was popular in the 70’s? Pet rocks. Can you guess who tried to sell you a pet rock? Yes, it was Howdy. That’s a purchase you’ll never regret. He even helped you name your new companion!

★ One time, you told Sally to "pop off queen" without thinking. "Pop off queen?" she repeats, tilting her head in confusion. "Oh, darling, I love the sound of that!" Congrats, you’ve just given Sally her new favorite phrase for the foreseeable future. There’s no escaping it now. But hey, at least she's having fun?

★ Frank sometimes tells you things you already know, and you pretend you dont to be polite. You do, however, correct him when something he says is accurate for the time but was later found to be false. Though you’ve corrected him, he never seems offended. If anything, he’s fascinated by the idea of updating his knowledge. “There's always more to learn” he tells you.

A few headcannons of mine. Eddie, Frank, Poppy and Julie more or less have canon orientations and/or genders. So here's the other 4, although I think Wally was passively addressed?? I think there was a queer reason he's on the pride cake but that's just speculation

Wally- Wally is a gay oriented aroace trans man. I personally take his answer about romance in the interview audio as Wally lacking romantic attraction. I think romance is something he doesn't completely understand. The asexuality is just me projecting honestly lol. He also expierences alterous attraction. He's aesthetically and sensually attracted to men (namely Barnaby and Eddie). I also love the irony of Wally being desired by many adoring women and having no interest in any of them. Wally's relationship with Barnaby is queerplatonic. Best friends with something queer going on about it. Wally loves being cuddled and getting small kisses. Kisses on the mouth confuse him and isn't something he's into. It's also a sensory aversion thing. He's trans bc I say so.

Barnaby- He's an unlabeled guy. His orientation is 'wouldn't you like to know weather boy?', he just does as he pleases and doesn't think that much about it. Very flexible. He adores his best friend Wally and is interested in Howdy. He doesn't love either of them more or less, they're just different flavors of love per say. There's gestures he'd do with Howdy that wouldn't work with Wally. May have had past romantic affairs before moving to the neighborhood. With women? Men? Who knows. He won't say.

Howdy Pillar: He's a disaster polysexual. I went with polysexual for the shallow reason that polysexual was in vouge in the 1920s, and I associate that era with Howdy. He likes multiple genders. Has a bit of a streak with infidelity lol. He's in love with Barnaby although it took him a long while to grasp those feelings. They have a bit of a secret relationship. While Wally and Barnaby are good friends, Barnaby and Howdy are "good friends" in a hayes code type of way within the canon of the television show.

Sally Starlet: She's a sun lesbian! Haha get it? But yeah she just has lesbian vibes. I'm not quite sure who I ship her with yet. Her gender is probably lesbian too.

Welcome Home headcannons (bc I'm obsessed now)❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🏳️‍🌈♾️

Julie, Sally, and Poppy have an all-girls slumber party every once-in-a-while. Sometimes they invite Wally

Wally and Barnaby have regular sleepovers too, usually in Home. They don't like to leave him out

Frank likes to infodump about butterflies to Wally. It's easy to infodump to him, since he doesn't talk much anyway

Wally can pick up weird bugs off the ground with his own hands because to him, "they're just tiny neighbors who live outside."

Wally's the one everyone goes to whenever they have a problem. Wally doesn't mind listening to them and giving them advise. But sometimes, Wally isn't having the best of days and can't listen to anyone. But he always has Barnaby to go to

Julie's most common stim is flapping her hands

Julie only owns dresses. She doesn't really own pants. She has to borrow from Sally

Sally loves romance novels. She'll usually read them when she's not directing

Wally loves talking about art. He'll mainly ramble on about shapes and perspectives, and the color theory, his most favorite to discuss.

Eddie Dear kisses Frank on the forehead to calm him down whenever he's angry. It always seems to help

Howdy is practicing juggling. you'd think it'd be easier with four arms but... not for Howdy

Barnaby is always trying to get Wally to try new foods, even some Wally doesn't think he'll like. It's not that Barnaby doesn't respect Wally's boundaries, he just wants him to at least try it

The neighbors celebrate Thanksgiving, but they call it something else (Feast Day I suppose?)

Poppy is always nervous for Feast Day because she usually makes desert. Since she's afraid of using kitchen appliances, desert making is usually a two person job, sometimes with Julie and sometimes with Sally

Wally loves Feast Day. He gets to make pumpkin pie for everyone. The problem is that Wally doesn't like stuffing (Julie's usual) cause of all the weird textures. He would still make himself eat it so he wouldn't look rude, even though he would be visibly uncomfortable eating it. Now every Feast Day, Julie makes two stuffing dishes. One for everyone else, and one for Wally, which is a bit more plain. It's currently Wally's favorite Feast Day dish.

Wally ate a flower in Frank's garden one time. It did not go well for either of them.

Julie and Frank like to gossip. Nothing too bad, they just talk about how extra bossy Sally was being or Barnaby telling another bad pun, etc.

Wally likes to put his paintings around the neighborhood, almost as if the buildings are fridges

Julie is afraid of ghosts. Frank usually has to be the one to tell her they're not real. "I bet they don't like to play games," Sally says.

Howdy has all of Wally's food preferences memorized, since Wally never really changes his opinion that much. Plus he likes his hot dogs plain

Eddie Dear and Wally bond over their love of arts and crafts. They sometimes get together and make stuff

Wally is usually the stagehand during Sally's plays. He sometimes plays a role, but he's much more comfortable pulling the curtain or moving the spotlights

Wally actually loves pulling pranks. Barnaby got him into them. Most of the time, Wally's pranks are just misplacing objects where the neighbors didn't leave them (he once hid Sally's script, and Frank's butterfly net). But sometimes he'll feel bad and tell them where their missing object is

Wally and Poppy are very good at sewing. Wally loves making sweaters for everyone when it gets cold. Poppy likes knitting scarves and sometimes crochets little messages (she has a "bless this mess" sign in her home)

Wally has a sensitive stomach and can't eat certain things. There's a correlation between autism and stomach problems, and Wally seems like the type to have them

Whenever they have meetings, they always have them in Home, so Home could also be apart of the discussions

Poppy loves having picnics. It's easier to make sandwiches because in her mind, nothing bad has ever happened to anyone who made a sandwich

Wally loves taking naps. He'll sleep for about an hour during the day everyday. if he doesn't get his nap, he gets so drowsy during the day. If he does this, you'd usually find him sleeping with his head leaning on Barnaby, giving up his long battle of not napping. He was once found facedown in Frank's garden. Frank, of course, was not pleased

Some Welcome Home headcanons

Sally DEFINETLY has a go-to pre-show monologue for her performances, and each character has definitely walked in on her saying that monologue at least once

"Alright, this is your moment. You are a star! You can- Huh? Barnaby!" "Hey, sorry Sal. Usually, I'd come up with a theatre pun, but I don't know any play on words. Hehehe." "Barnaby, eh- Get out!"

All the characters have one set of matching clothes like PJs or smth, suggested by either Poppy or Julie (or both)

"Oh come on guys, please!!!!" "I don't see the point, Julie, we all have sufficient enough clothes to match our personal styles." "I agree with Julie. I think we'll look lovely ." "See! Even Poppy agrees with me, Frank!" *sigh* "Okay"

Howdy would occasionally slip in extra small items, free or charge, for the other neighbors when he hears that they are in a pickle or having a rough day. Every dealers got their soft spot, his is the other neighbors

Barnaby sheds.... a lot. Especially in the spring/summer when he's shedding his winter coat

"Barn.... what is all this?" "Sorry Wally, but my winter coat doesn't last fur-ever!"

(Bonus points if Barnaby tries to get Poppy to make yarn out of his fur for Poppy's crafts)

The one house in fact the only house I’m trying to see is Howdy’s. This bitch is so fucking big everything has to be like giant size in his house. Chair giant, Bathroom giant, hell even his fucking clothes have to be giant.

I can just imagine like going over to his house and your like can I use the bathroom and he’s like sure, you go in there and realize you will genuinely fall in if you use his toilet. Like he is described as being 7-8 feet tall, could you imagine sitting next to him on a couch and he still takes most of the room.

I can see why he’s about his money, getting things tailored for your size is extremely expensive. And I know some of yall finna be like “Oh well Poppy is taller” I’ve seen the art Poppy typically uses normal sized objects. Or maybe that’s just perspective idc, I just think it’s funny to imagine neighbor holding a comically large spoon.

And the others are like where did you get that big spoon, and then Howdy walks by like “Oh there’s my spoon,” grabs it, and it looks like a normal sized spoon in his hand.

Yeah that’s right, some way I’m always going to incorporate a comically large spoon or comically large cutlery in my welcome home post.

Halloween Headcannons with “Welcome Home” Characters

You and sally like to go to Julie’s house so you three can show each-other your costumes.

When you want to add some finishing touches to your costume you ask Julie and sally for help.

Wally tried to convince you to match with him with an Angel and Devil costume like a “Matching Couple” costume you thought it was cute but wanted to do your own costume Wally was sad but understood.

You visited Howdy’s to buy some candy and noticed his Ghost costume beside him was Poppy who was buying things you ran to poppy and continued to tell her how her Pumpkin costume is so cute “Well Later Once im finished making Pumpkin pie you can come over if you would like?” You nearly cried at Poppy due to her motherly figure and howdy laughed at how you looked at Poppy “Poppy Look She/He/Their Close to crying for how sweet you are” poppy started getting worried hut you assured her nothing was wrong and said ‘You are a gift’ poppy heart was aching

You bought the stuff you needed and started chatting with howdy about your plans for halloween.

Howdy enjoyed how you were bursting with joy about Halloween (If you don’t like Halloween ignore this one!)

You planned on buying food and watching horror movies and pranking kids if they decided to poof into the town.

Returning to Julie’s house you waved hello to Eddie and frank who waved back with a smile on there face.

Heading inside Julie’s you noticed the two surrounding a bowl of candies “What are you? OH DANG THOSE ARE (Favourite Candy/Sweet) LET ME JOIN THIS CULT” you joined the two.

Eddie knocked on the With frank but heard nothing frank sighed taking out a spare key Julie had given him he clicked the door open and walked inside the dark house.

Flicking on the lights he and Eddie jumped seeing the three of you dancing around a bowl of (Favourite Candy/sweet)

Frank gave the weirdest look while eddie laughed.

Eddie motioned you guys to leave julie’s house “Wally is hosting the Halloween party this year come on” you guys walked over to Wally’s and. You smiled greeting house only reciving a *Creak* and a *Squeak* in return.

Heading inside everybody separated you in the living room talking with howdy before noticing Eddie and Frank in the corner of the room.

Both do them blushing and smiling at each other you couldn’t help but squeal silently hearing Eddie compliment frank is costume and frank doing the same.

Howdy noticed this as-well and glanced at you when You slowly raised up a Polaroid camera and took photos of the two and ran away once frank noticed you and the camera

“SHOW MERCY FRANK” you screeched running to Julie while frank chased after you while Eddie laughed at the scene seeing you and him run around in circles.

Barnaby walked out of the kitchen with Wally both chatting and noticed the commotion.

Now Standing beside Eddie Wally tilted his head confused but chuckled “LET ME GOOOOO” you yelled wiggling in franks grasp as he held you upside down while you flapped your arms “No” Frank said.

Julie entered with sally inside the room after they went outside to give poppy a hand with food both of them were even more confused seeing you upside down.

the two laughed along with the others as you begged for mercy seeing frank eat some of your candy as revenge making you wail.

Wally walked towards you and smiled wearing his lil devil costume and helped you up Barnaby by his side.

You grinned “Nice Vampire and Devil costume guys” Barnaby smiled “Not bad costume either! I like the (Insert costume) I like it very much” Barnaby said crossing his arms nodding.

Wally smiled “I like it too” you grinned at him and turned your attention to Eddie “Eddie here I took the photos just for you” You said handing the Polaroids do him and frank you took moments ago “I’m keeping one for my Memory Book” Eddie grinned “Thanks Y/N”

Wally smiled calling out to everybody to get ready for a group photo.

Rushing over the group huddled together smiling at the camera “Say happy Halloween!” Wally said grinning everybody shouting out “Happy Halloween” at the camera with smiling faces.

Yay! My first Ask, Since there wasn't really any prompt on weather you wanted a Ficlet, Art, Or Headcanons I'm gonna do all 3!

Caregiver Howdy & Little Barnaby!

-He's very much the singer type, he'll sing Barnaby old show tunes to calm him down if he's ever fussy

-Barnaby Regresses around 2-6, He's an energetic little but a very sleepy puppy

-Howdy has a special room in his Bodega that is decked out with everything you'd need to take care of a puppy! From chew rings to squeaky stuffed animals

-Very teethy pup, he bites a lot especially on textures he likes which happens to include Howdy's fuzz! He says it tickle his mouth and it makes him laugh!

-Howdy spoils Barnaby, kisses, snacks and toys! He finds it so precious when his eyes light up at a new toy or a sweet treat!

-Barnaby is very energetic as a little, so much so that Howdy often has to keep a Backpack leash on him when they go out, Barnaby's favorite backpack is a blue's Clues themes bag!

Fussy Puppy!

`Seems Like Barnaby Isn't having a good day`

From waking up to where he was now, Barnaby was definitely not having any sort of a good day. At first it was just the usually fuzziness and inability to focus but it soon progressed as more and more went wrong that day. He couldn't get a trick he'd been working on right, his ball ended up popping, and worst of all he had lost his hat thanks to the wind. Everything was just wrong, all wrong and he wanted it all to stop! The Final straw was during a fun game of catch with his best friend Wally, they where having fun great fun and it was a nice break from everything that happened. That was till Barnaby ended up tripping over a rock while running and landing square in a big muddy puddle, the ball that had been thrown bonking him on the head as a final good riddance.

Barnaby lifted himself from the puddle, barely holding it together. He quickly brushed passed Wally and any of his attempts in consonance, he knew if he stopped now that he wouldn't be able to get to the person who could make all of this better. He quickly B-lined it to Howdy's place, thankfully, Howdy's Bodega wasn't very busy today so he wouldn't have to worry about him being too busy. Not that it would matter since he knows he'd drop everything to help him, he just didn't like doing that while he was very busy. The familiar jingle of the bell that Howdy kept over his door rang out, seemed he was stocking things by his lack of an immediate response. "Howdy Hey! Welcome in, We are currently out of My famous Jams so you'll have to... come back tomorrow? ....Barnaby?".

Howdy had walked over as soon as he heard the bell, ringing a rag around his hands to clean them off from what ever he had been doing prior. Barnaby stood there on the verge of tears, gripping at the edge of his vest, his fur a mess and caked with mud. Howdy looked on in concern, quickly discarding the rag to console the hurt pup. "Hey, Hey, Hey there my little Doodle Dot, Now what in heavens went and happened to you?". Seems that question was what broke the floodgates, tears stream down Barnaby's face as he began to absently babble and whine about the day's wrongness. Howdy let Barnaby talk, while he lead him to a bathroom in the upper part of the building and began to draw a bath for the dirty pup

Barnaby took a seat next to Howdy and leant on his legs, he placed the thumb of his paw into his mouth, his eyes lidded. Guess the crying really tuckered the pup out so Howdy was going to have to be quick with this bath. Howdy Pulled Barnaby up for a second, much to his protest, so he could remove the dirtied vest and tie to be washed later. He guided Barnaby into the bath and sat him down, Normally Barnaby would be splashing and having fun with the water and bubbles, but it really just seemed like the day took its toll on him. "Oh my, why this is no good is it? Day really bit you in the butt?" Howdy said while running his fingers through Barnaby's fur with blueberry shampoo to make sure he was all nice and clean.

Barnaby's head nodded forward, his eyes closing momentarily. Howdy took notice to this and hurried up with scrubbing away all the dirt from his fall. Howdy drained the tub and helped Barnaby out and into a towel, he lead the sleepy puppy into his special room and sat him down on a small mat so Howdy could blow dry him to make sure he dosen't develop any sores or rashes. All dried and suited up onto a nice blue's clues onesie, Howdy cradled Barnaby in his arms and gently rocked him back and fourth, The soft and dulcet symphonies of the song "Living in the sunlight" filled the dimed room. Quickly pulling Barnaby into a sweet sleep.

4th Of July With The Gang

I can imagine like many American products it would have had 4th of July merchandising with the characters celebrating the 4th. I can imagine them doing a 4th of July special with all them coming together doing stuff to celebrate during their shorts:

* Wally would paint patriotic pictures and learns about the history of the founding. 

* Howdy would sell stuff like fireworks, hot dogs, hamburgers, and other barbecue related material. 

* Sally would enact plays concerning big American events. 

* Barnaby would work on a routine involving a lot of American and Colonial related jokes. 

* Polly would of course make a lot of pastries. 

* Eddie would make a lot of arts and craft related to Fourth Of July. 

* Julie would try to set up the fire crackers and other fun activities. 

* Frank Frankly would capture butterflies that could be put in coordination to resemble the American flag. 

And in the end they would all come together for a picnic and at night see the fireworks.

Howdy x Oblivious Reader

★ At first Howdy goes out of his way to help you with anything and everything. From offering your favorite snacks at a discount to carrying your groceries home. You, being oblivious, just think he’s a very kind, helpful neighbor.

★ He gifts you small things you might like. Like a book mark for something you've been reading or some pretty seashells to decorate your garden with. You accept them with a smile, but chalk it up to his friendly nature.

★ Then he tries to compliment you, but your reactions have him second guessing himself. “You light up this place every time you walk in" he says, and you respond cheerfully with “Guess it's from me opening the door. Must let she sun in?”

★ “You’re always so kind! Everyone’s lucky to have you.” You tell him, unaware that you’re the only one to receive his kind of attention from Howdy. And he just chuckles nervously, trying to figure out how his very obvious hints went unnoticed.

★ Despite all the missed signals, Howdy never gives up. He cherishes every moment with you and hopes that someday you’ll see him the same way he sees you. Truth be told, he can't help but find your obliviousness charming, even though it's frustrating sometimes.

Imagine all the neighbors could come apart and put themselves back together like skeletons and be perfectly fine and it was infact normal?

This would be cool because like barnaby could hide maybe almost all the small neighbors in his torso like this. I don't think Eddie would fit those oof. Maybe by himself?

Wow, I'm alive ☠️

Let's start with sketches with Barnaby, because he's a cool guy

Then, i remind you that i really love Howdy, so there are a lot of sketches with him 🤭🤭🥄 (in fact, i have a lot more of them, but i can't show them here). i'll say a few headcanons about the second two sketches!! i think Howdy cooks well because when he looked after his younger siblings or nephews, they needed to be fed. His signature dish is vegetable soup!! It is useful, nutritious, not very difficult, cheap, and you can also feed a large number of people with this soup

In my mind, Beta!Wally is quite an interesting and slightly slippery type. I would paint all my headcannons on him, but I won't. I'll just say that he's trying to look perfect, and he's also more of a poet than just Wally, who's an artist

I also apologize for the fact that I was gone for almost TWO MONTHS ( ﾟ□ﾟ) actually, I have a lot of work, but I can't exhibit half of it here, and I think about the other part that it's unworthy to be here 😔🥄🥄
