i am considering getting a new laptop. i will mostly will use it for coding and video editing. so, i'd like for it to have a good battery life, at least somewhere around 10 hours. a display of around 14 inches will do. since i'd be travelling with it frequently, it should be lightweight and i'd like a backlit keyboard.

Laptops get LLMs: NVIDIA and HP CEOs admire AI PCs

LLMs with NVIDIA Jensen Huang and Enrique Lores spoke about how the newest mobile workstations can speed up and customize generative AI in a fireside discussion. In a fireside talk today, the CEOs of NVIDIA and HP announced new laptops that can create, test, and execute big language models, indicating that 2024 will be the year generative AI goes personal.

Furthermore, HP and NVIDIA said that NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries would be included into the systems to accelerate the data processing and preparation necessary for generative artificial intelligence.

Boosting Data Scientist Efficiency NVIDIA RAPIDS cuDF, which speeds up pandas—software used by over 10 million data scientists—is one of the libraries.

Huang said that they could now analyze data in minutes as opposed to hours or even days in the past.

He went on, “This pandas library is insanely complex,” pointing out that NVIDIA developers spent more than five years rewriting the code to make it GPU-accelerated.

2020 gue . . .

Setelah merenungi beberapa hal, mencoba mengevaluasi resolusi apa aja yang gue buat di tahun lalu, Alhamdulillah gue belajar banyak hal di tahun ini.

Gue belajar betapa pentingnya mencoba peluang-peluang yang datang dari mana aja. Bersabar dengan komitmen dan menerima bahwa hidup kita ga melulu tentang berjuang dan mencari penghargaan untuk diri sendiri, tapi memiliki kesadaran penuh bahwa kebaikan dan pelajaran itu bisa kita peroleh dari siapa aja dan dimana aja. Selain itu, gue juga belajar tentang betapa pentingnya menanamkan prasangka baik dalam hati kita, atas apapun ketetapan yang Allah kasih buat kita. Dari semua gambaran yang gue bikin tentang bahagia dan berhasil yang gue mau itu kaya gimana, ternyata Allah kasih semuanya lebih baik dari yang gue bayangin. So, here’s my 2020 story.

Di awal tahun, Allah jawab semua doa gue tentang karir dan kantor yang gue mau. Bisa dibilang, yang gue mau nilainya 11, eh yang Allah kasih berkali-lipat. Tipsnya adalah percaya, bahwa melibatkan Allah sejak awal kita memulai semuanya adalah keputusan yang tidak keliru sama sekali.

Dari tempat ke tampat, website ke website, gue submit cv gue dan mulai mem-breakdown apa aja yang menjadi kebutuhan gue selama proses nge-apply. Dan saat itu juga, gue coba bikin plan B, breakdown apa yang akan gue lakuin kalo gue belum dikasih kesempatan buat kerja.

Alhamdulillah.. ada aja tawaran dan panggilan interview bahkan dari perusahaan yang ga gue lamar. Setelah beberapa kali interview, eh gue malah insecure karena tau kapasitas gue tuh masih jauh dari kandidat yang dibutuhin sama tempat-tempat gue melamar. Menurut gue penting punya perasaan insecure. Insecure bisa jadi alasan kita buat evaluasi dan move on ke action yang konkret buat kita berkembang. Merubah keadaan yang tadinya merasa tenang-tenang aja, supaya jadi ga tenang karena mau ga mau kita harus bisa memantaskan diri, kan?.

Dari semua interview, gue akhirnya mutusin buat mulai kontrak kerja di perusahaan yang justru interviewnya paling terakhir gue ikutin. Saat itu,untuk pertama kalinya dalam hidup gue, gue ketemu dan bisa sebebas itu ngobrol sama seorang direktur perusahaan. Namanya pak Indra Sosorodjojo. Dari pertama kali ketemu, hati gue merasa bahwa beliau adalah sosok yang hangat dan visioner. And that’s true. Awalnya gue kira bakal bahas gaji dan kontrak kerja aja kaya biasa, tapi ternyata kita malah hanyut dengan cerita satu sama lain. Beliau merespon cerita gue dengan antusias dan ekspresif. I do really like him. Entah kenapa, gue merasa beliau adalah orang yang bisa membantu dan dibutuhkan oleh siapa saja dalam hidup ini. Bahkan gue mau jadi kaya beliau. Humble, sederhana dan selalu ingin membangun orang lain untuk maju. Punya leader yang seistimewa beliau membuat gue semakin passionate sama pekerjaan baru gue. By the way, gue saat itu direkrut sebagai seorang business analyst. Jujur, awalnya gue gatau apa-apa soal business analyst itu kaya gimana, but I think.. that’s the magic of life. Sometimes, it’s better to have no idea about what’s gonna happen to you when you start something new. Dan gue belajar dari pengalaman ketika gue kuliah, bahwa “percaya aja sama Allah, kalau kita sudah ditempatkan di suatu tempat, akan ada kebaikan dan rejeki disana. ”

Disana, gue ketemu sama orang-orang yang punya semangat untuk membangun satu sama lain. Gue belajar, bahwa memang seharusnya dalam kerja sama, bukan hanya profit materil yang menjadi tujuan utama. Kepercayaan satu sama lain dan action yang membawa kita untuk terus maju dan berkembang juga harus jadi tujuan yang ingin kita capai. Dari sana juga, gue belajar menggunakan waktu di tempat yang tepat. Gue mulai melawan nafsu gue buat leha-leha dengan waktu senggang yang gue punya. Menjadi semakin sadar, bahwa untuk mendapatkan kesempatan-kesempatan berharga dalam hidup ini, kita perlu bergerak cepat dan stop saying “ntar aja deh”. Meskipun mandi gue masih lama hehe.

Hari itu gue ga punya firasat sama sekali, bahkan hari-hari sebelumnya gue sama tim se-enjoy itu wfh dan diskusiin project. Rasanya, setelah Allah memberi semua kemewahan itu, gue kaya tiba-tiba dimiskinkan. Sesempit itu gue menyimpulkan harga hidup gue waktu itu. Butuh beberapa minggu buat gue untuk bisa move on dari kejadian itu. Bukan hanya soal penghasilan gue yang akan hilang, tapi kebersamaan, moril support dan kenyamanan dengan rekan kerja dan pekerjaan itu adalah kemewahan yang pengen banget gue jaga saat itu.

Lagi, apa yang Allah titipkan untuk kita hari ini, tidak selamanya menjadi milik kita, termasuk pekerjaan.

Gue belajar lagi, bahwa ketika keadaan berbanding terbalik dengan pencapaian dan kemewahan dalam hidup kita, apakah rasa syukur dan ikhtiar kita sebesar saat kita merasa memiliki semua itu? Akankah itu merubah keyakinan kita pada Allah, bahwa Dia tahu yang terbaik bagi kita?

Hari-hari berlalu. Alhamdulillah saat itu gaji dan pesangon gue cukup untuk membuat gue break sementara dan survive. Keadaan makin ekstrem, ketika kasus penyebaran Covid meningkat, merata dalam skala nasional. Gue dibenturkan dengan banyak keterbatasan dalam beraktivitas. Gue berharap bisa kemana mana dan ketemu siapa aja saat break, harus gue rtimbangin karena keadaan saat itu menjadikan kita harus berhati hati dan mengurangi pertemuan pertemuan dengam halayak ramai. And something uregular started to happen. Dapur. Gue yang tadinya ke dapur Cuma sesekali buat goreng ayam, nugget atau masak mie, jadi ga punya alasan buat ga ke dapur selama nganggur. Gue yang lebih suka main laptop, nonton film dan kerja daripada di dapur, jadi harus mengalami ketidaknyamanan yang ga gue tulis di resolusi gue. Haha.

Untungnya, punya sepupu baik-baik semua, jadi maklum sama gue yang rada males ngedapur ini, dan mau sabar ngadepin gue yang kadang bete kalo disuruh masak ehehe.

Gue jadi lebih mengenal orang rumah dan diri gue sendiri. Gue jadi sadar kalo ada sifat buruk yang harus gue hilangkan, dan itu baru ketahuan saat gue berbenturan dengan momen-momen saat gue di rumah aja.

Gue belajar bahwa gue ga bisa punya sifat ini terus kalau gue mau hidup gue lebih baik.

Belum ada lagi keinginan nyari kerja, gue coba ke gramed, cari buku yang bisa gue jadiin pelarian kalo bête. Hya salah lah buku dijadiin pelarian, dibacanya kalo lagi pengen lari aja. Udah beli banyak tapi bacanya sebeduk sekali haha. Disini nih fase-fase males ketemu orang, liat sosmed, insecure sama masa depan gue.

Masa depan kesehatan gue. Gue ga merhatiin kesehatan mental dan fisik gue. Lama di rumah, ga ketemu temen project, temen main, ga ngerjain hal-hal berkualitas bareng temen, bener-bener bikin gue mati gaya. Kaya ga tau mau ngapain lagi sih gue di hidup ini?

Gue kehilangan modal untuk mengerjakan hal-hal yang seru dan kreatif. Bener-bener cuma nyelesaiin daily routine yang kurang menantang, jadi kesannya biasa aja, karena isinya adalah hal yang sama, jadi cepet bosen dan ga excited ngejalaninnya. Bahkan kadang jadi kelelahan, padahal ga perlu mikir haha.

Kurang gerak, dan ngantukan adalah problem menurut gue. Akhirnya gue coba targetin setiap pagi coba workout sederhana maksimal 30 menit. Dari yang awalnya nyoba 20 menit dan gerakan yang ekstrem, gue beralih ke yang 10 menit dan ringan. Perubahannya? Baru terasa di hari ke 6.

Gue note, “gue jadi lebih seger, lebih positif menghadapi hari-hari, dan lebih bersemangat mencoba hal baru lagi”.

Mencoba konsisten dengan workout pagi hari, gue mulai meluangkan waktu buat belajar bahasa inggris lagi dengan membeli buku latihan Ielts dan mengurangi waktu tidur - main hp gue untuk belajar bahasa inggris.

Mencoba konsisten dengan latihan bahasa inggris lagi, gue jadi mulai menikmati hidup gue lagi. Gue mulai percaya diri lagi buat ketemu orang, temen, keluarga dan bersosmed lagi. Mengulik lagi resolusi gue, gue buka catetan gue di tahun 2018. Salah satu habit yang ga pernah konsisten gue lakuin dari dulu, gue coba terrapin lagi di tahun ini, yaitu belajar pemrograman.

Gue beli online course yang berhubungan sama Data science. Gue coba melatih diri gue berpusing-pusing ria dengan dunia program lagi. Sangat gumoh dan sering menemukan alasan untuk menyerah.

Karena ga tahan sama daya juang gue yang amat lemah ini, gue cerita ke bokap gue.

Bokap gue bilang, “a fighter lives in unease.”

Saat itu gue sadar, punya supporter itu penting. Kita tetep membutuhkan orang lain buat bisa bikin kita back on track sama garis perjuangan. aih. Sama tujuan yang mau kita capai maksudnya.

Dan itu sangat membantu gue untuk bisa bangkit dan fokus lagi. Dengan sadar, memaknai bahwa target-target yang ingin gue capai adalah hal-hal yang akan menjadikan diri gue lebih baik, hidup gue lebih meaningful dan lebih sehat. Buat gue, jangan ragu me-remove hal-hal yang ternyata ga akan tercapai sama kita, dan menambahkan hal-hal yang sangat bisa kita lakukan dan punya perubahan berarti buat hidup kita. Libatkan orang-orang terdekat yang bisa kasih support moril dan doa buat kita, maka resolusi tidak akan seberat itu.

Thanks to Allah I get my life set back.

Hari berjalan, gue jadi lebih pede lagi nyari kerja. Mulai submit sana sini, sampai akhirnya, ada satu perusahaan IT Consultant yang ngadain bootcamp for free. Yas, I grabbed it as soon as I saw it. I sent my cv and came up with an interview invitation! (Alhamdu..lillah..)

Lagi, Allah kasih nikmat gue buat melakukan hal baru secara lebih serius dan teratur. Gue jadi menikmati ngoding bahkan sampai larut malam haha. Gue selalu penasaran sama hal-hal yang masih belum bisa gue perbaiki di program. Secara ga langsung, gue jadi lebih bertanggung jawab sama diri gue sendiri, komit sama apa yang udah gue mulai, sesulit apapun itu, harus gue hadapi.

And today, here I am. I trained as a software developer.

I do code, research, and design (a lil bit hihi) and I start to love my job now, Alhamdulillah.. really.. Allah does know what we need, believe it!

Bagaimana dengan habit gue?

O tentu berubah haha. Waktu tidur berkurang, olahraga ga tiap pagi – kalau sempat saja, dan gue meninggalkan bahasa inggris untuk sementara waktu.

Gue mulai memetakan mana yang harus jadi prioritas gue untuk gue perdalam, bisa dibilang fokus utama sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan kondisi saat ini (semoga bukan alesan haha).

Guess what? Malas kembali melanda disaat gue mulai merasa ga terlalu susah dengan apa yg baru gue mulai lagi.

Sure, need efforts to be progressive, getting better and better.

Gue ga bisa bohong, masih ada resolusi yang belum tercapai, atau bahkan belum gue mulai sama sekali. Lagi-lagi, dari sini gue belajar, bahwa target atau resolusi yang kita buat ga boleh jadi beban buat diri kita, justru harus jadi sesuatu yang berkesan dan menyenangkan, tapi kita juga harus tau kalau tujuan kita buat bikin resolusi itu sendiri adalah melatih diri kita untuk berprogres, memiliki kondisi yang harus selalu dimaintain dan diupgrade. Kenapa? Karena dengan berprogres maka kita akan bertumbuh, dan dengan bertumbuh, kita bisa mencapai keadaan yang lebih baik dari sebelumnya.

Dengan belajar memiliki resolusi, gue juga jadi mulai menerapkan habit yang baik. Susah? Iyalah hehe. Gue juga suka lalai, bahkan masih, dan menurut gue itu manusiawi. Gue jadi sadar, kalau kita mau ada perubahan yang berarti dalam hidup kita, kita harus siap membiasakan ketidaknyamanan dalam hidup kita.

Saran gue, saat menulis plan / resolusi, fokus ke target, bukan waktu mencapainya.

Dan penting juga buat kita memandang masalah sebagai sesuatu yang tidak hanya mendatangkan kerugian, percaya pasti ada pelajaran yg bisa diambil dari situ.asik.

Bismillaah.. 2021 harus jadi tahun yang menjadikan kita berkembang dan bertumbuh menjadi individu yang lebih baik.

•Last Movie I Watched: Moana, I couldn’t sleep before heading home from my summer internship, and it was on netflix, so I finally gave in. It was fun.

•Last Show I Watched: I’m GoT trash, but my family was watching Once Upon a Time this evening.

•When Did I Create My Blog: Like winter 2015-16. I got it so I could send my ex memes, but it’s evolved much past that, lol.

•What Do I Post: Just about everything, from fandom (mostly rwby and harry potter rn, but it varies) to personal shit, to hopefully my own writing when i have something to share, etc.

•Why Did You Choose This Blog Name: I was trying to settle on a name for my transition and was using a name generator that decided to also create email usernames, and i liked this one.

•Followers: 12! Every note you give me lights up my day.

•Favorite Colors: Always, always, royal blue and purple.

•Average Hours of Sleep: RN, i’m getting a lot, like 8-10 hours, cause I’ve been going to bed early and sleeping in at home, but during the school year I vary so much. But I get bouts of real bad insomnia that can make me have the wackiest sleep patterns in exisstance.

•Lucky Number: Nothing comes to mind. When I did sport, my jersey number was 42, because im a nerd.

•Instruments: Trumpet, which i’ve played for 12 years now, and the electric bass. Also I can plink a bit on the piano, and wish i could sing well.

•What Am I Wearing: Shorts, and a long sleeve shirt i got for free at school. It’s a super nice one, tho.

•How Many Blankets I Sleep With: One in the summer, a nice fuzzy fleece one, and then an extra down comforter in the winter.

•Dream Job: A job XD. But i’m currently looking for a Data Science-oriented programming job. I really don’t know what I want to end up as. But if I could be a sucessful, full-time, novelist, that would be dope.

•Dream Trip: I’ve wanted to do a bike tour of central Europe for a while now.

•Favorite Food: Very little can beat a good steak and potatoes with gravy.

•Favorite Song: Of all time, gotta be edema ruh by nightwish (gotta love tribute songs, but more recently, I’ve been a sucker for BMBLB by Jeff Williams, for RWBY.
