I was watching the bad batch, again, and every time I see Tech in his helmet I think he looks like an adorable little bug man. I was compelled to draw this. I'm sorry. Now you see it too. And then it lead to the rest of this. I present to you, The Bug Batch.

does he look familiar?? this is Hiroki Eritora, Hikaru’s father! the one who taught him everything he knows, the man that made Hikaru who he is today 💜
Hikaru is a universal big brother to everyone he meets- he can’t help it, it’s just in his nature. But he definitely got it from someone; if Hikaru is the Universal Big Brother, Hiroki is the Universal Dad.
Hikaru’s mother isn’t in the picture, abandoning the Eritoras after the birth of his youngest brother, Haruo. Hiroki vowed to himself that day that he would never fail like he did with her- his sons would never feel unloved or unwanted again, and he would do everything in his power to give them all the love, nurturing, and support they deserved.
And he did. Hiroki was warm, welcoming, and infinitely patient. He had a nurturing spirit that one couldn’t help but feel drawn to. Hiroki was, in every sense of the word, a kind soul.
The Eritoras have always been hunters, and Hiroki was no exception. He lived by the rules of nature- never take more than you need, and never kill without reason. Every life was sacred, from the tallest tree to the smallest beetle. He was fond of stag beetles, which is where Hikaru gets his appreciation for them. The scar on his cheek is from when he was Hikaru’s age, and hunted a bear! He likes to exaggerate the story to make his children laugh.
Hiroki liked to whittle, and he often made little figures of animals out of wood. He considered the deer a sacred animal- the only creature whose life he would never take. He saw them of symbols of strength and resilience, and omens of good luck. His earrings are deer teeth- he foraged them, and wears them as a symbol of respect. The earrings are still with his bones.
Hikaru wouldn’t be who he is without Hiroki, with his wise stories, warm nature, and patient, gentle soul. With everything he had, Hiroki loved his sons… until the very end.

what are some of your fandoms?
short answer: At the moment i like Captain Underpants (no way) (the movie continuity specifically) but i don't tend to stay in fandoms for very long
long answer: Aha! You've made the mistake of asking me something that can be Unnecessarily Over-Categorized into separate lists!
Things i Am Currently or Recently Was a fan of:
Captain Underpants
The Odyssey/Epic The Musical
Rhythm Doctor
Things i fixated on for like A Month that people followed me for but i have a low chance of posting about unless i get into them again:
Deltarune (i will probably get back into this when the new chapters come out)
DHMIS
The Stanley Parable
Markiplier...lore...? like who killed markiplier and stuff. what do you call it
Simon Petrikov (???) (not true i fixated on him for longer than a month i was extremely fixated on him for like 2 years in 2018 and he holds a Dear Place in my heart i just don't . post or think about him anymore)
Mob Psycho 100
Things i am Perpetually a fan of even if i don't post about them often:
Hollow Knight (all of it but Sly especially, also that fanfic Stag Beetles and Broken Legs)
Kirby (I like the Dark Matter Trilogy stuff)
Mario/Sm64
Petscop
Gildedguy
Interface (by Umami)
The Odyssey (i put this already but Polyphemus and Poseidon specifically)
The Dear Hunter (Acts)
let's be honest Captain Underpants is also probably on this list considering i first saw the movie in 2017 and i still like it now
The only things you are guaranteed to see consistently if you follow me:
Possession Adjacent Tropes™ and any medias (usually involving Possession Adjacent Tropes™) that i happen to get into. and also my Dumb Ass OCs . (and stupid shitpost crossovers with whatever my current fixation is + my Dumb Ass OCs)

Hollow knight bugs and real world species: P2
Hornet: So we know that Hornet is the daughter of the pale king and Herrah, making her some sort of biological monstrosity. But what bug is she based on? My best bet would be a horned orb weaver, specifically either a long-horned orb-weaver or Gasteracantha versicolor based on coloration and her horns.
Zote: So the in game/logical answer is that zote is whatever type of generic beetle that team cherry concocted from stag, Hercules, and rhinoceros beetles. However I think that’s really boring, I personally subscribe to one of the single best crackfics in the fandom Camouflage of Great Renown and think zote is a nosk that left Hallownest and lost his memories before retuning and adopting his persona. It’d even explain how he’s actually really hard to damage(see coliseum) and how he keeps getting places before ghost does.
Midwife: So I’ve seen a lot of people headcanon that she’s a centipede of some sort, and it kinda makes sense? Like centipedes are actually really good at caring for their young and protect them until they’re able to hunt on their own, so I think it’s a plausible and likely theory. That’s said I’d like to present some alternative ideas. Midwife to me, looks a lot more like she has an earwigs body shape, based mostly on the width of her. That said her behavior matches up far better with a trapdoor spider and she lacks antennas. Overall I’d say a trapdoor spider is more likely as an alternative reading of her species.
Lord fool: So here’s the thing with lord fool, there’s a lot of evidence he’s a higher being of some sort. Most of it comes down to the way the fools, while infected, seem less damaged by the radiance and seem to keep a large portion of their mind intact. Plus his position-dead on his throne- seems earily similar to a certain pale wyrm. Interestingly however it seems like his mask is actually just a mask, because we can see the top of his head and it looks to just be soft carapace. He’s also got six limbs so we know he isn’t an arachnid, or crustacean. My best guess would be either a deathwatch beetle(the texture on them looks like a good match) or a more likely a green junebeetle. Him being a junebeetle also matches nicely with how the fools are regarded as invasive, or not belonging in Haloownest. My last theory is that the bug the colosseum is built in may be the Lord fools old shell, aka wyrm.
Bretta: She looks a lot like a hair soft-shelled beetle to me, but her colors are all wrong. Based on that I’d say she’s actually a female scarab of some sort(sorry y’all my beetle knowledge isn’t up to par just yet!!)
The Hunter: So I’m really and truly unconvinced that the hunter is a bug, or crustacean, or arachnid of any kind. Bro visibly has a spine of some sort and the only beings with hands remotely similar to his that we see are THK, The shade lord, and the collector. That said we do still know he has an exoskeleton. I’ll admit I’m kinda stumped, I’d love to hear what y’all think. Verdict: inconclusive.
Baldurs: So I’m pretty convinced that these fellas are a pill millipede of some sort, they have the right number of legs and do curl up for defense. Additionally they spit infection, which I imagine when non infected would be some sort of toxin— something millipedes are well known for.
Mosskin: So this covers the mosskin as a whole, I’ll probably make a post for them specifically eventually. They’re obviously creatures that are in a symbiotic relationship with plants(because Unn). The only ones I feel super comfortable giving a specific species atm are the moss chargers who I feel are a species of velvet worm, mostly due to Unn being a big old slug and them living in a more tropical region. These velvet worms essentially copied the homework of the leaf sheep sea slug—which steals its ability to photosynthesize from the algae it eats.
That’s it for now!!

In cause u were wondering, here's the woe.bebug version for everyone
The Mikes are atlas moths
the hunters are bees (have yet to find a specific type)
ryan and topher are head lice
marissa is a cicada
chance and shadow are entognatha
jamilla is a silk moth (also have yet to figure out specifics)
edgar is a praying mantis
eagle is a dragonfly
sly is a stag beetle
and I still have no idea about matt anne and charlie
You have no idea how much I love this YES!! Lmfao at Ryan and Topher and also EAGLE IS A DRAGONFLY HELL YEAH!!! MY BELOVED EAGLE BEING ONE OF MY MOST BELOVED INSECTS!!
I wanna say Matt is a scarabaeus, mostly because of The Cellar Letters, but I also imagine him as a pill bug. Maybe because they seem so benevolent to me.
I also imagine Anne as a longish insect, like maybe a stick bug or a web spinner.
No idea about Charlie either! Maybe a ladybug? Or something that looks harmless but is parasitic or cannibalistic.

A list of mobs and their insectoid counterparts
And, happy fiftieth post. This is the collection that I have deliberated on in regards to what mobs will be made into what as I progress with the resource pack. One such example has already come to fruition, though it is up to you to determine which, until I have more to show for this.
As of yet, this list is incomplete, as it does not officially include the new mobs of 1.19. I will need to review the additions to 1.19 and see what other ideas evolve. Based on everything else, I may consider a lifeblood butterfly for the allay and heavy fool or somesuch for the warden. I don’t have ideas for frogs yet, and I don’t remember if there were other new mobs aside from those three. If there are other non-1.19 mobs that I am missing, please let me know.
I am open to suggestions and feedback on ALL OF THESE IDEAS! Especially the ones with question marks or multiple options. Or, if you have questions about my thought process, I would be more than happy to answer.
It means I am indecisive but am also not sure what else I could do. I’m confident about most of these, but there are also a number that I’ve simply pulled out of a hat. Otherwise, the mobs may or may not be exactly like their Hallownester counterparts, but rather inspired by their design. I can simply make more stuff up if it comes to it, but please allow me to pick your brains first before it reaches that point.
I apologize, as I did intend to add links to every mob and enemy together for quick reference, but Tumblr took issue with it. Please note the focus is on creatures that are in or were supposed to be in Hollow Knight and nothing from Silksong.
The full list is under the cut!

In case anyone was wondering how my mostly-blind Hollow Knight playthrough is going: I have full-on cried one (1) time.
[spoiler warning]
It was not when I fell into the abyss filled with thousands of corpses and their shades whose hunter's journal entry read Sibling.
It was also not when I ascended a tower of buzzsaws (I get that it's probably a metaphor for how deeply the king locked himself and his thoughts away but given that there are spikes on top of the elevators even in the real world I still want a word with his architect) and found a room of discarded void constructs only to realize where those thousands of corpses came from.
It wasn't even going back into the abyss, seeing just how down far the layers of tiny tiny bodies went and the horrifying implications of the Sibling entry "fragment of a lingering will"! It was not Myla's infection, nor the Old Stag's desperate words of hope when he returned to his empty and abandoned birthplace! No! No, I teared up, but I did not cry, none of those times! (Though the last one came very close, when his name changed.)
Do you want to know why I have only just stopped actively pouring tears? The catalyst for my gosh-danged melancholy?
Dream nailing Dung Defender.
Seeing him sleeping in a cave of dung with lumpy statues made of dung in the shapes of his (probably) long-dead friends, and an idol (which I accidentally stole, I'm so sorry) of the king he still loves. And dream nailing him and seeing that in his dreams he is still a knight of a living kingdom, and the other knights' silhouettes are clear and sharp in the background, and he is in pristine white and when you dream nail him again during that battle all he does is recite all of the things he misses about the others.
He mentions Isma - I've been to her grove, and seen her body. I think he loved her, somehow. And I recognized the armor of the False Knight in the silhouettes. Or whoever they really were, before they died and a maggot crawled into their armor. I don't even know which name is theirs - they are forgotten by almost all. Hegemol, maybe? The Defender misses their humor. I don't know his name, either, yet.
The music is grand, just like the first fight with him - but unlike the first, where it was almost hilariously incongruent (this dung beetle is flinging balls of poo at you to such stately music, it's silly and fun and he has such a jolly voice!)... well, now the arena matches. He looks noble - chivalrous even. In shining armor.
These are good memories. And he didn't seem sad, in that first fight. Far from it! How much of that is resilience and how much is denial? Salubra still thinks the Crossroads are a bustling town, after all.
And then? Then you die and wake up next to him, sleeping in his den of dung next to misshapen dung statues he sculpted of his dead friends.
So yeah. Thousands of dead probably-children? Awful. I sniffled.
(And admittedly stood horrified in the corpse pile to process what the king had done for a solid minute - to be fair, I'm still not entirely clear on it. We'll get there. This game drip-feeds story, I love it.)
Freakin' Dung Defender? Heartbreaking. I sobbed.
I haven't beaten the White Defender battle yet. Cheesy as it sounds, tears got in the way, we'll try again later. I do not care how stinky it would be, I want to give this knight a hug. He shouldn't be alone. Maybe he could move to Dirtmouth. It's nice. Elderbug is a delight. Cornifer would love him.

Not great as the first episode, but I got a lot of laughs out of it.
As for today's summary (SPOILER WARNING UNDER THE CUT SINCE IT AIRED EARLIER ON ANIPLUS ASIA)
Non binary dhampir Mikazuki Kagomehara from Tokyo pays a visit at the Hunters Guild and would you know it... Ronaldo rises to his bi-awakening to him, which is one step ahead for our beloved pathetic hunter in red within canon as bisexual.
Goldilocks Hinaichi checks up on the Office Trio like usual and we get more interesting tidbits about the quality of blood wine as described by Papa Bear Draluc. Hundreds of vampiric coconut larvae evolve into a giant stag beetle after hogging every sip of wine and is quickly slain by Mama Bear Ronaldo and the cookie monster.
Cozy Crazy Party is good ending theme but the outro for this season was rather too happy for me and probably because Strangers clutched me more on wistful, sappy angst.
Last is the evil incarnate Fukuma (which Draluc & Ronaldo have theorized in a hunch) and possibly the entire witch cult + merciless kingpins in disguise as a publishing company forces Draluc to give a positive review an appalling, unfinished, broken game equivalent to the horrors of Sonic 06 + Sims 3-4 severely long loading screens and combustion of thermal heat of a laptop or CPU and game-breaking glitches seen on many bad ones like Balan Wonderworld. (Poor Draluc, now he is enforced to be reviewing more abysmal games.🥹)
And...uh oh. Next week will be the beginning of a low rating episode score for me.😰

Wyvere Reviews All the Monster Hunter Monsters (Fanged Beasts)
Welcome back to me reviewing all the monsters of Monster Hunter! (Well, most of them) Today, I'm reviewing the Fanged Beast class! Why so early? Well... I prefer reptiles over mammals, so I'm gonna get this over with so I can finish with my favored monsters.
Tumblr media
Something kinda funny about Bulldrome is that its weaker counterpart, Bullfango, was originally a Herbivore class monster. With the advent of Fanged Beasts, it progressed to a more prestigious class of monster. Anyway, Bulldrome is a pretty bog standard bull monster, but those big tusks are cool. 5.5/10
Tumblr media
A more fantastical looking monster, Blangonga is the first of three monkey monsters introducing the Fanged Beasts. And they're a pretty cool monkey monster! I like the whiskers and face spikes. 6.5/10
Tumblr media
Congalala kinda takes a toilet humor direction, as it attacks by farting. Whether that is a boon or flaw of this monster depends on how much you like toilet humor, which for me, I think it can be funny sometimes. The design does work with the abilities, with the hippo face adding to the goofiness of the monster (also, that makes the potency of the farts worrying, considering the dangerousness of hippos). 6/10
Tumblr media
The third of the monkey trio, Rajang is one of the most powerful monsters of Monster Hunter aside from the Elder Dragons. And they're a pretty intimidating monster! Again, I prefer the more reptilian monsters, but this is still a pretty dang cool monster, 7/10.
Tumblr media
We have another trio, these ones being bears! Arzuros is the most bear-like of the bunch, but they've got some lovely reptilian scales for flavor! 7/10
Tumblr media
Lagombi is supposed to be a rabbit-bear (a rabbear?), but they've got some nice armored plating as well! It's a pretty weird design, but that's what makes it shine! 6/10, no lizard elements, but still neat.
Tumblr media
My favorite of the Bear Trio, however, is Volvidon, mainly because the bear elements are obscured by elements from other creatures, namely armadillos, crocodiles, and stag beetles! All those details make the design so interesting and fun, and I love it! 7.5/10, probably my favorite of the Fanged Beasts!
Tumblr media
We're taking a break from bears with Gammoth, a furry armored elephant monster! It's quite a majestic beast, which of course is fitting with real world elephants! 7/10
Tumblr media
If you've been missing the monkeys, Kecha Wacha has you covered! They're even weirder than Congalala, with a tapir-like snout and arm membranes allowing them to glide. But my favorite part are those wonderful ears. Those spikes give of such a unique vibe! 7/10, my favorite of the monkeys by far!
Tumblr media
...and they aren't even our weirdest monkey! The wyvern-like appearance of Bishaten (which... kinda sounds like bishonen, which is kinda funny) is quite common in Monster Hunter, but not one that the Fanged Beasts has played with yet. It almost makes me wonder if this is the result of convergent evolution. Not only that, but they also have an extra arm with their tail! It's bizarre, but a good kind of bizarre. 7/10
Tumblr media
Bombadgy is probably one of the cutest Fanged Beasts, as well as one of the least mammalian. I suppose they're heavily based on a tanuki, but they've got no fur, and also some spikes all over their body! 6/10, I wanna hug it.
Tumblr media
We have yet another bear monster with Goss Harag! And they take that archetype in an interesting direction with an oni motif and also the ability to form their arm into an ice sword. Overall, a pretty badass monster! 7/10
Tumblr media
Last but certainly not least, we have Garangolm, who only really appears like a Fanged Beast because of their gorilla face. The rest of them resembles a Brute Wyvern much more, which of course is a boon with my tastes in monsters. 7.5/10

Took a break from playing Hollow Knight by... drawing Hollow Knight characters. I swear this game hasn't taken over my life
I'm lying haha
Anyways, pictured here we have:
1. Monomon! I wanted to try drawing her in my style, she's quite pretty and I really like her
2. Quirrel and Lemm! QUIRREL MY BELOVED, I rotate him in my brain constantly I ADORE him, and Lemm is just a grumpy lil guy! I like him a lot XD. I've been reading Stag Beetles and Broken Legs for the past couple of days and it's making me Feel Things,,, them. That is all.
3. I had some empty space so I drew Flick because they're cute,,, if I ever end up hacking my switch and installing Atmosphere, the first thing I'm doing is creating a Flick sprite pack. I also drew an aspid hunter because... listen they are certainly infuriating but they're SO cute. If Flick ever had a pet, it would be a little semi-tamed aspid to help them with their hunting. They'd probably look at one and see a kindred spirit.
4. SIBLING STACK SIBLING STACK SIBLING STACK SIBLING STACK SIBLING STACK!!!

Mother and grandmother, the female brigade, stand guard, rifle in hand, to protect Erika against the male hunter lurking outside. They may even have to give the intruder a physical warning. The two elderly women, with their dried, sealed vaginas, throw themselves in front of every man, to keep him away from their fawn. The young female should not be bothered by love or pleasure. The vaginal lips of the two old women have turned into siliceous stone. Rattling dryly, their snatches snap like the jaws of a dying stag beetle, but catch nothing. So the two women hold on to the young flesh of their daughter and granddaughter, slowly mangling it, while their shells keep watch to make sure no one else comes along and poisons the young blood.

Transcript under the cut
So, the ending of this one surprised me, as in, I wasn't expecting it to end when it did at only ten episodes. Mostly because I didn't know what the episode count was meant to be, but also because it felt like the series was really starting to build towards what was going to be some level of a final act. However, it just cuts off right there, in the middle of what feels like some pretty big raising of the stakes and something of a turning point. As such, I'm not fully sure how to feel just yet. I'm glad that the show is getting a second season, but I also wish that the ending of this season wasn't quite so abrupt.
For me, a lot of the characters here fall a little flat aside from a small handful of standouts, but the world is really meant to be the star of the show here, so I'm not entirely surprised that I ended up feeling that way. However, at the same time, I do wish that I didn't. I would have liked to be a little more connected to them, but some of them can feel kind of flat at times, which does make it a little more difficult.
Still, the world of the show is interesting and it's always something of a slap to the face to remember that this takes place in a post-apocalypse during a second industrial revolution instead of during just, ya know, a first industrial revolution. It's not that that's a bad thing, but it's something that can feel like a background element until it's really really not. However, the differing factions and the intrigue of the plot were more than enough to carry me through here and I loved the lived in feeling that the city had once we reached it, even if the streets can look empty at times so the crowded feel I think it was going for is a little lacking. I don't believe the novels have official translations at the moment, but I do hope that they get one in the near future since I would love to give them a read.
The downside is there was always this feeling that I had that this series had somewhat bitten off more than it could chew. It's definitely ambitious, but I think that ambition was somewhat of a downfall for the series as well. The art style of the series is fantastic and I really did love the way it had a more grounded feel to it than I think some other productions might have gone for. I may not have agreed with every design choice that was made here, but you also can't say that it wasn't making some strong choices.
The problem is that the animation of that art style could be pretty lacking at times. Because of the look they went for, any CGI elements stood out like a sore thumb, shots of the manor and anytime Kun made use of stag beetles easily come to mind. There's also this usage of cut in shots that don't come up very often and can feel like a reason to not have to animate a full body and just part of one instead. I think the still art pieces that are used at some times are very well done and the colorwork on them is fantastically beautiful, but they also felt somewhat weirdly placed at times and their usage was odd, as some episodes could have quite a few and others none at all.
It leads to this feeling of inconsistency, like these things were used as something of a band aid patch. That inconsistency is what really keeps them from feeling like a real stylistic choice. That's not even getting into the way that there would sometimes be very obvious animation errors, such as the time that a tree vanished, leaving the man who had been pinned to it very obviously floating in the air.
And for a series that there was a decent amount of moments that were meant to be action, quite a few of those action beats could feel incredibly stiff and stilted. Watching the OP, there are some gorgeous cuts of action animation there that the show was never able to live up to, which was incredibly disappointing to see.
I will be watching the second season that was announced the same day as the finale, to be clear, but I hope that the success that the series has seen can allow them to make change to the production that will allow the next season to feel like it is more consistently put together rather than the roughness that is present in the currently existing one. I think tightening up those animation problems could really make it easier to recommend.
