OOOH thank you let me see what i've got,,,,here is a definitely incomplete list of incomplete concepts rattling around in my brain that i wanna expand on sometime

backstory stuff for both of them! red honey stuff for twitch i still gotta iron out the details for

& stuff for grace pre-neath which is very vague currently, and i FINALLY figured out why he's doing nemesis--but it's not for himself. it's for a dead guy that he murdered

also wanted to do an interactive story from grace's pov of the aftermath of the ship ending up in the neath & the search to find help, slowly losing crew along the way (tragically Or murderously) up to when twitch bails him out

evolution gripped me by the brain and i really wanna clink twitch against the second sacristan (as Enemies of some kind) but i gotta figure out where i'm going there. you can definitely get a bad ending AU out of it but i'm not sure what else!!

speaking of bad endings, sending grace to the grand geode to get Dawnpilled >:3c he ends up there in canon anyway (and gets out before he ends up as a sequencer) but both would be fun to explore

i have some wips for this already but some ideas for the SSea officers on twitch's crew, their dynamics, their history with twitch, etc etc. there has to be some drama there, i can't imagine murdering and resurrecting the navigator for purely selfish reasons does nothing to the crew dynamics

i also have about 100 unorganised snippets of dialogue or mini comics in my head,, most of them are just silly goofy things based on me trying to figure out wtf grace and twitch have going on

their first meeting(s), feelings about developing crushes (horrified, mostly), overdramatic arguments bc neither of them can verbalise their feelings if it kills them, twitch being a goddamn weirdo, but also cuter things. because i am nothing if not a hurt/comfort fan 😌

Correspondence written in ways that can slide under the radar: cricket matches, duelling footwork, metaphors. This is the sort of subject that gets him super animated, too: he'd be all over the lecture theatre, he'd be up on the desks, he'd be having a great time. And then at the end, he'd reveal that he'd been slowly crafting a series of sigils with the words of the lecture and his motions throughout – and then perform an elaborate bow and flourish a Starstone Demark, at which point every pair of eyebrows in the room would suddenly catch alight and Briar would be thrown out of the University again.

Gonna answer these for Brigid and Silvia both because I feel like it ;)

2. How easy is it for your character to laugh?

For Silvia: Too easy. Like, annoyingly easy.

For Brigid: Pretty difficult. If she cracks a smile, you've done well.

3. How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)

Usually Silvia is staying up so late researching, practicing Yucatec Maya, etc. that she just collapses at her desk.

Brigid has a nice routine of stretching, drinking tea, and (sorry) rubbing one out before she goes to bed early to be up for the docks the next day.

D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?

Well when I first created Silvia, I thought the game still took place in the 1880s, so her design was based on that period. When I realized it's now 1899 in game, I updated her hair and clothes. Since then, she's stayed pretty much the same, although I've recently added dark circles under her eyes--for the reasons stated above ;)

Brigid is still in the early stages of her design, so who knows, maybe she'll change as her arc progresses!

Hm, I guess in-person, usually their clothes, I try to pay people compliments whenever possible and clothes are a good bet. Online....sense of humor?

Generally happy endings but trying to get a foot in the door with scary movies :P

I don't particularly think so, not as such. I like to think I'm good with parrots, but that is definitely something developed over hundred and hundreds of hours with hundreds of birds lol.

Florida, but the boring part

What are your hobbies?

Don't have a whole lot I do consistently. I'm trying to read/listen to books more like I used to, spend a little time doodling, needlecraft stuff on a rare occasion. Not any consistency.

Do you have any pets?

3 parrots, 1 snake, 2 cats that don't live with me anymore but I still consider mine. A colony of darkling beetles, bonus pets as a result of the snake.

How tall are you?

5 foot 6 if I'm being honest. 5'7 on a good day.

Meh. I guess maybe biology? My favorite course I ever took was a zoology course...

dream trip: Until recently somewhat I didn’t think I’d be down to travel but meeting the right people made me realize it could be an adventure and not just a chore. I think I’d be down to go anywhere as long as it were with the right people. My dad keeps trying to tell me he has FB friends in europe I could visit and mannnn I don’t know these people. Come on.

But yeah short term I think I’d be happy to just see as many cheesy tourist traps as possible, as long as I’m with good company. Although, in the long term... I think I’d love to see has many Art-Nouveau style buildings/expositions as possible.

Lavender - How does your OC cope with loud noises?

twitch loves it-- a loud bar or the middle of a ship battle is their happy place, for whatever reason. it's the quiet they hate, instead.

for grace, it depends! he doesn't mind loud noises and places at all, and even finds it enjoyable sometimes (and is good at keeping his cool when it's not enjoyable) but he likes to have some quiet afterwards. gotta recharge

Wisteria - Does your OC have a skill they’d like to learn? What is stopping them?

twitch is pretty unapologetic about pursuing anything they're even slightly interested in, they Will derail the entire week's plans to go and learn something entirely random. that said, they want to learn shapeling arts & mithridacy, but they haven't found any willing (or unwilling) test subjects yet. one day!!

they also want to learn an instrument, but that's literally only because they learned grace plays violin and they refuse to be bested by him

for grace:

grace, though, doesn't want to do anything particularly outrageous. he'd like to learn piano, how to write poetry, improve his painting skills,,,he's either been too busy or not in the right frame of mind to try currently, though. but he does still paint, at least!

currently the Neath skillsets are too offputting to him...he wants to abide by the rules of reality, not break them. no shapeling arts for him, please

improving his sailing/zeefaring skills would appeal to him, but he's, understandably, a little traumatised from his last ship falling into the Neath. plus, his role in the navy was more based around commanding a crew, & he doesn't fully understand the zee's weirdness yet.

he just zails with twitch for now. he learns a little from it, though, since twitch will delegate tasks to him that they think are too boring. he's gonna get so damn good at tying knots and counting supplies

Ladybug by the Presidents of the United States of America: A silly little ditty about bug friends.  This song got some play on the radio back around 2009-2010 but I never hear it outside of my playlists now 2. Dread in my Heart by Mother Mother: Everyone’s favorite tumblr band, but I actually got MM from a mixtape a friend of mine made me a few years before they got big here. The Sticks is my favorite album by them. 3. P.S: Je t’aime by Christopher Willem: I took a year of French in college and I remember basically none of it but if I don’t have french music in my likes I’ll simply die. Low key dance track.

4. Cimmerian Shade by Sufjan Stevens and Angelo de Augustine: A really soft condemnation of the transphobia inherent in Silence of the Lambs sung from the point of view of Jame Gumb (Buffalo Bill). This is the only Sufjan album I’ve ever found at a thrift store and that delights me

5. Toxicity by System of a Down: if I say this is a classic nu metal track how many of you are going to come for my throat? Not my favorite SoaD but probably what I first heard that got me into them. 6. Destruction by Joywave: Normally I would link to the song for this one since it cuts out part of the intro but the video delights me. Is that a Zune?  Shame the part that they cut out is the Disney sample lol

7. This Too Shall Pass by Danny Schmidt: really excellent guitar work but a rather meandering song on my likes by virtue of catching me at the exact right time to gut me.

8. Coital Improv by Vendetta Red my problematic fav screamo band u_u These fuckers are Edgy as Fuck and until my latest every un I’ve used on this site has been a reference to them.  cw on this song particularly for nuclear annihilation and horrific childbirth

9. DotA (Radio Edit) by Basshunter: if the median age on this website was higher than 21 I’d be very embarrassed right now but instead I’m dating myself. A classic Swedish techno track about playing DotA.

10. My Type by Saint Motel: VERSTECKT HAS SPOKEN the last song is a bi anthem! This is the song I used for his tagline yesterday lol. The video is cute. 🌈 — Do they do anything unique or interesting with Neathy colours? Yeah! The Apologist is not a stranger to writing with ink of every Neathy colour, the effects of which he has studied and detailed. I'll probably post what I have written about this at some point.

🦑 — Would they kiss a Rubbery Man? (again!) i already recieved this question here, but i'm going to take this as an excuse to elaborate

The Apologist sees Rubbery Men as victims of their creation, similar to how many religions see illegitimate children. They deserve empathy, as any living being, and pity, for their lack of place on the Chain. He doesn't view the Shapeling Arts very highly at all, but the rubberies who don't engage in that are alright by him.

💀 — What's their relationship with the Boatman like? Once, when the Apologist was young and reckless, he temporarily played the role of Boatman. He fucked it up, really beefed it, and the Boatman could have consigned the Apologist to his role and returned to life in his place. But the Boatman took pity, letting the Apologist go free (with a hat, too!) The Apologist returned this kindness during Evolution, maintaining the Naturalist's destiny to one day replace the Boatman.

Now, he and the Boatman are, all things considered, pretty close friends. They chat, they play chess, they skirt dangerously close to the topic of the Far Shore, all that. The Apologist still dies often enough (and in varied enough ways) that they never lose touch — and always have something interesting to talk about.

Even though the Apologist is more aligned with Fingerkings (and will make arguments for their innocence whenever the situation arises) he is still wary about trusting them. Not because he thinks that they are inherently untrustworthy, just because he knows they'll do anything in pursuit of their goals.

He's not actually close to any Fingerkings in particular. While he "has" hundreds of Weasels of Social Discomfiture, he doesn't house them — he just provides the weasels as vessels and then lets them roam free in the Is.

44. What language would be easiest for them to learn? Why?

I never thought about this but fortunately Hiram already knows some languages for backstory reasons: he learned Latin and Greek in his youth, and German, Italian and French while travelling around Europe. So, considering the similarities between the Romance languages, I think Spanish would be the easiest one for him to learn at this point.

55. What’s something they’re expected to enjoy based on their hobbies / profession that they actually dislike / hate?

He hates the Foreign Office's diplomatic meetings. Nothing ever happens because everyone has their own hidden agendas and they're all stuck talking about inconsequential politics for hours on end. No drama, no fun.

He also dislikes most of the events organised by high society, he can't stand the the overly formal etiquette and the bland topics of conversation. He's very good at faking his mannerism and interpreting social cues (he had many year of experience) so he always interacts "correctly", but he often twists his words on purpose just to cause discomfort to his interlocutors and liven up the conversation. He doesn't like to always feel so bored.
