There MUST be an undiscovered kind of trauma special for hetalia fans. I don't know how to explain it, and i can't show a tangible evidence for this statement but hetalia manages to "traumatise" everyone. I am not mad doctor!! I swear my abandonment issues are evil spells cast by hws England!!! /hj

I sat here and tried to think up some kind of deep, impactful answer for this. But my brain's coming up dry.

But yeah, I definitely feel like you're making a good point here lol.

Maybe we were traumatized by the Episode 23.5 creepypasta? Or perhaps Hetaoni? Or the super edgy variations of the 2p!s which essentially bordered on creepypastas? Or one of the many deeply disturbing fanfics? Or the people at conventions who... You know what? I'm gonna stop there.

Do you think hws Sweden speaks Finnish? Or vice versa?

I will say Yes, but it's also complicated. Now, prefacing this with that I'm not going to sit here and pretend (hws) Sweden is a pure innocent angel who has never done anything wrong in his life - but I ALSO don't believe (hws) Sweden would ever do something to intentionally hurt (hws) Finland.

However, it's important to recognize and understand that the Swedish government and leadership is another issue, especially in the past. (irl) Finland used to be part of the Swedish Empire, with everything that entails. During certain periods of times it would have been literally illegal for (hws) Finland to speak in Finnish, and the Swedish language would have been the language he was expected to speak at least around important humans like nobles and military leaders.

So. Yes, (hws) Finland would absolutely know Swedish - even have been forced to learn it over the years - and though (hws) Finland's Swedish might be considered a little rusty today he would still be able to make himself understood and understand others as long as they didn't use too much modern slang. It's also worth commenting that (irl) Finland still has Swedish as an official minority language, and some people in the country still speak it as their native language, so (hws) Finland would still keep it alive if only for them.

I do headcanon, however, that (hws) Finland out of spite never uses Swedish with other people except for Sweden himself anymore if he can help it. Finland loves and trusts (hws) Sweden the person, but not necessarily the leadership. Finland will speak in Swedish to (hws) Sweden and only Sweden alone.

Since (I hc) Ladonia also knows Finnish, there's no real reason for Finland to speak in Swedish most of the time anyway? Finland can speak in Finnish, and another language if he's meeting with other nations. In modern times he'd also have English to fall back on in most cases.

When Sealand was basically adopted by Sweden they might even have focused on Finnish as the "family language" if you see Sweden and Finland to have been together romantically at the time, since it would have been a lot to ask of Sealand to learn two (2) new languages to learn at the same time.

In the other corner we have (hws) Sweden, who because of the same reason as Finland wasn't able to freely speak in Finnish to (hws) Finland even when he might have wanted to. He's also a canon shy mess in love, so I very much doubt he would have found the courage to ask Finland to teach him anyway?

So, funnily enough I headcanon (hws) Sweden asked (hws) Estonia to teach him Finnish. Sweden wanted to learn in an attempt to surprise Finland. I also headcanon Estonia only agreed to teach Sweden with the promise that Sweden would never speak in Finnish when and where it could put Finland into trouble, as Estonia reminded Sweden that other people (& nations for the matter) would automatically assume Finland was the one who taught Sweden how to speak Finnish - and that could put Finland in danger if the wrong people heard it.

[Bonus: Sweden keeping his promise is also how I hc Estonia to start trusting Sweden the person more, because Estonia is proven that Sweden actually cares about Finland].

So, Estonia taught Sweden long enough for Sweden to become (at least near) fluent in Finnish, but then Sweden didn't dare to surprise Finland with the fact for decades if not centuries in fear he might put Finland into trouble. Hell, Sweden's confession of his feelings might very well have been how it was revealed he even knew a lick of Finnish to begin with.

Once that wall is broken though? (hws) Sweden would absolutely speak as much Finnish as possible with Finland. Not only because it makes Finland incredibly happy and gives Sweden an excuse to keep practicing, but also because it becomes a way for him to give back a little by little for all the years Finland had to speak in Swedish with him.

Will you be writing more for hws?

So, House We Share is a finished series. However, I do have a few extra little drabbles already written (those are on the masterlist) and I also have one more drabble currently sitting in my WIP folder. I'm hoping to post that soon! Otherwise, I've been working on re-editing the main three chapters of house we share, a project I've affectionately been calling the remodel. The remodel isn't just editing, though. It's also going to have some new scenes !!

hi im scared the anon who sent that original confession was talking about me (im writing a vent fic that unfortunately is about a rareship) so im sending an ask bc i totally agree with you. im explicitly using my fic to process what happened to me and (hopefully) make it so i can look at these characters together and not spiral into a panic attack

Hey, so sorry I didn't get to this earlier! I wanted to give myself time to give a thoughtful response, and then life got pretty busy.

I'm sorry people have been giving you a hard time for the way you write your fanfiction. I may not know what you personally have gone through, but I want you to know that there is nothing to be ashamed of, and that you are loved in this fandom. <3

And as for the people giving you hate? Ignore them. And if they continue, block them entirely. This is why the good Lord blessed us with a block button. And besides, if people don't like what you write, the fault is on them, not you. They know they have the ability to read something else yet are choosing not to do so. So, I will reiterate; this is on them, not you. <3

You have every right to write your fanfic however you want. And if your fanfiction is helping you process your trauma in a healthy way that doesn't hurt you or anyone else? Then I say go for it and keep writing, sweetie. <3

What is your opinion on SuFin from a Swedish perspective?

I think I've talked about this in the past, but I don't mind going into it again with hopefully mentioning at least SOME things I haven't already mentioned.

Now, I should start with the fact I personally really like SuFin, but used to HATE the pairing in the past because how the fandom portrayed them both. Nowadays I mostly keep to my own corner and only really talk with a few people, so I've grown to love SuFin more based on canon and my own ideas for them.

To be honest I tend to focus more on the Hetalia characters as persons in general with a few historical references/trivia, but honestly, they have a lot of potential together.

Sweden is sweet and shy, but he has mischievous and rebellious sides as well. He also cares a lot about the people around him. (This can especially be seen with how he constantly defends Iceland and how he interacts with Sealand and Ladonia). Though his feelings for Finland is canon he also doesn't pressure Finland for an answer/feelings in return.

Meanwhile Finland is a caring and kind person, and he's not afraid of constantly standing up to people who finds Sweden intimidating. Finland is the person who constantly recognizes that while Sweden "looks scary", Sweden is also a very kind person.

Now, in canon, we actually don't know if Finland returns Sweden's romantic feelings, but it's obvious they still care a lot about each other a great deal.

With that said, if they became a couple I think it'd happen closer to modern time, and while I personally headcanon Finland loves Sweden back, I also think it took Finland a long time to decide if he even wanted a romantic relationship despite his own and Sweden's obvious feelings.

Now, I don't believe (hws) Sweden himself would ever do something to hurt (hws) Finland, but we also have to keep in mind the Swedish leadership and government haven't always been very kind to the Finnish people. Being in the Swedish Empire wasn't great for (irl) Finland - for a long time it was just better than being under one of the other countries in the area.

Anyway, at best there would be a weird power imbalance between (hws) Sweden and Finland if they had a romantic relationship somewhere between 1000-1900, even if Sweden himself never intends/intended for it - not to mention homosexuality wasn't even accepted or acknowledged at the time as something fairly common.

Most people hc Finland as Bi or Pan, so Finland could likely "pass" in the past by showing interest in women and ignoring any of his feelings towards non-binary people and/or men. But Sweden is canon homosexual, who only really have shown romantic interest for Finland in canon. It's more likely Sweden (tried to) bury his feelings deep, deep inside to not literally get killed by people for who he is.

Fans also (STILL) love to joke/bring up Sweden calling Finland his wife, but in canon Sweden only did it ONCE and then stopped when Finland protested against it. No matter what you think Sweden's reason was for calling Finland his wife, he stopped after Finland told him No.

I repeat, Sweden STOPPED.

He respects and respected Finland. Sweden listened when Finland said he didn't want to be called "wife".

So yes, I think they'd work really well together and have a sweet and loving relationship - but it would take a long time for them to make anything official.

We have a LOT canon moments between them. Everything from them adopting Hanatamago together, Sweden getting kids, to them constantly visiting each other, and Finland constantly defending Sweden from people who finds his looks intimidating - just to mention a few things.

Honestly, they'd probably be an "inofficial couple" for YEARS before they became official, but they'd get there eventually. Through both good and bad they've been there for each other for +1000 years at this point.

They're nations, and they can afford to take it slow.

HWS Trio, or Outlaw squad - A trio consisting of Haster, Witty, and Seller Sans.

Haster Sans (Brieftale au) The eldest of the group, unanimously appointed squad leader.

Witty Sans (Severetale au) - The second of the squawad members to join Haster. This guy needs to be controlled.

Seller Sans (???? Au) - The youngest member of the trio. The safest for you :)

- Their line of work is killing and trading, trading is mostly handled by Seller Sans.

- Since Haster is the only one whose world still exists, the HWS base is there.

- Witty and Seller don't get along.

- Seller is full of mysteries.

- Haster and Witty hunt humans together.

- Witty is the only one who can open portals.

- The first mention of HWS is 3 March 2022. Creation date is December 2021.

- HWS were inspired by a dream where the author met the company of these three skeletons.

I think this is finished, but I will most likely change and add to their design and story, but for now I like this version.
