Glen Powell is not working his ass off to bring romantic tension and visible yearning back to movies only for his kissing scenes to be left on the cutting room floor!

please tell me about your keatlejuice thoughts i am desperate for an analysis of him that isn’t just Evil
EDIT BC APPARENTLY PUTTING IT ALL OVER THE TAGS WASN'T ENOUGH: BEETLEBABES DNI!!!! HOLY SHIT DAWG PLEASE I'M BEGGING 🙏 😭
Omg haiiiii hiiii taps mic is this on yess hellow *shuffles with notes*
warning this will probably be a LONG post
enjoy :3
Ok. So. Keatlejuice. Movie Beetlejuice. 600 year old man. Alive during the 1300s AKA the black death in Europe (proved by the second movie). In the original script for the movie he is described as "vaguely middle-eastern" which is probably racist BUT I have decided to interpret that as a potential ancestry for him.
Tumblr media
In the musical he is heavily implied to be Jewish so I was thinkinggg maybe his family is a Jewish family that originated in the Middle East and migrated to Europe.
Every time I've tried to find how he died (pre-sequel) I find the same result but NO source for it. EVEN ON THE WIKI THERE ISN'T A SOURCE
Tumblr media
ANYWAY this kind of paints a picture on his life when he was alive, the movie says he was a grave robber so obviously a peasant scraping by to survive. Betelgeuse is not someone who I can imagine surviving in any society based on. social skills. he's kind of a goofy silly guy I don't think he can relate to most of the people around him especially with disease rampant I don't think he has many people in his life. With this need for survival I think he's adopted quite the antisocial personality.
People around you die, you go through their pockets for cash, thus is life. Definitely not a pleasant person to be around and so I don't think he ever tries to be, even long after his death. He knows something is fundamentally wrong with him and he embraces that for the sake of survival.
I'm gonna be so honest I cast him with the MOMMY ISSUES BEAM GRAHHHH I'm sure his mother passed during his life due to disease or tons of other mideival shit. (I will bring this up later just put a pin in it) Betelgeuse is suuuuper silly goofy in the brain (depression and BPD possibly) and I personally imagine him as surprisingly. Calm. As a human. Not kind, but not exactly the manic personality he embraces in the movies.
It's near the end of his life when he believes there isn't anything left for him in life, he never grew or got better he only fell deeper into the deep pit of depravity he dug himself into. I think near the end is when he acted the most like his movie self, erratic and selfish not afraid to draw attention hoping it would make him feel better somehow.
So. I have absolutely no idea how he bagged Delores to be honest but in MY interpretation (with a mix of the sequel's lore) Delores dies, and I think that's his final straw. Either by his own hand or unrelated events losing her as the only thing of value in his shitty mideival peasant life means he's done for (he's 30-something btw). He cuts off her ring finger and hangs himself.
Of course, that isn't the end, He wakes up, still hanging, and rips and tears at the rope, shredding his nails and skin until finally it snaps dropping him to the floor. In a delirious state he looks around. A woman stands above him, slit throat wafting smoke, and tosses him a striped uniform.
Some backstory on prison uniforms:
Using this article and just some research from my memory, prison uniforms are made to identify a man as a criminal, to emasculate them and take away individuality. The stripes can even represent the bars of a prison cell, making the person wearing the uniform feel like they have no escape from their criminal identity. ANYWAYYYYY (sorry I have beef with the justice system)
Suicidees in the Neitherworld are made civil servants. It's their debt to pay for the crime of killing themselves and in the movie both Juno and Betelgeuse are among those ranks.
In my interpretation, when Betelgeuse dies Juno isn't at the rank she's at in the movie and she guides suicidees to their new job. As she rised the ranks, she employed Betelgeuse as an assistant (I don't really think he could find any other purpose for himself in this strange new afterlife, and it's not like he has a choice.)
This is where the mommy issues come in wheroeowheh soo Juno is an older woman and authority figure so I think *PLATONICALLY* Betelgeuse has sort of an attachement to her because of that, she's the only anchor he's got in the Neitherworld after all.
As he gets a better handle on things, he does what he always does, he finds shifty places to lurk and loopholes to slip through. Now that he's dead, he doesn't need to worry about his personal safety anymore (not that he did before) and being dead has given him powers he's never had before. He starts his bio-exorcism business a hundred or two years after dying. It's not really about the money, but the control it gives him and something he's *meant* to do, that he made for himself and wasn't picking from the scraps of others.
After a while he starts slacking on his civil services. So far he's ridden on Juno's coattails and found his way around the legal system easily enough so he uses it to help his guide job instead. He gets cocky, Juno is pissed because he's not doing any work after all she gave him (oughh mother thinking moment) and fires him. It goes over very poorly, Betelgeuse gets his nose broken (300 something years after death) And becomes purely a bio-exorcist.
OKAY THAT IS ALL FOR NOW honestly I could ramble forever but it's late and I must go but if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask!!!
(Also he's pansexual and genderfluid on top of all of that but he doesn't figure that out until the 90's)

With how spectaculalry (bad) Zoro and Sanji are being at hiding the fact theyre sleeping together for Sanji's heats how long does it take for people outside the crew to figure it out? Does anyone try and attack during one of Sanji's heats figuring two of the best fighters are busy with each other?
In the fic that probably won't be published it's mentioned that they are referred to as the Strawhats' Monster Mates. And honestly I think people start referring to them as that before they actually officially become mates (to their annoyance at the time) because yeah they are terrible at this. I do think it takes a little for outsiders to just know about it because the Strawhats are still pretty small-fry when they start fucking and therefore people aren't spreading that fact/rumor around all that much. But anyone who hangs around the Strawhats figure it out pretty quickly.
I do actually think someone does try attacking during one of Sanji's heats. They are not smart and anyone who is smart would immediately know that is a terrible idea. Because the rest of the Strawhats are obviously going to be on higher alert with two of their powerhouses out of action (oh and also feeling protective of Sanji in that moment generally) so like good luck getting through them. And then even if you do, you still have to deal with Zoro and Sanji (possibly before you even reach wherever they have holed themselves up in because 'crew's being attacked' is probably enough to get them to come out). Which like Zoro is already got a testosterone and adrenaline spike because of his body's response to the heat-pheromones, has weird protective feelings he possibly hasn't processed (so will happily fuck up any threat instead of processing them), and is not going to let an in-heat Sanji get a higher kill count then him. And Sanji, while yes is in heat, is still more than coherent enough to be dangerous, is feeling somewhat vulnerable (and therefore more willing to lash out to protect himself), and also is baseline having an adrenaline spike thanks to his heat.
Like it's beyond stupid to do. I do still think someone at some point tries it. Actually that might be the incident that earns them the moniker Monster Mates.

The fact that even though Yelena is angry at Natasha for not coming back for her, she still has an unshakable belief that they’re sisters absolutely kills me.
Yelena asks why Natasha didn’t make contact and rejects the answer that Natasha thought she wouldn’t want to see her. But then she instantly pivots to say, “you just didn’t want your baby sister to tag along while you saved the world with the cool kids.” We don’t see a shred of doubt there. She’s not like hmm nat didn’t want to see me bc she doesn’t think of me as her sister and she doesn’t care. Being sisters is non negotiable to Yelena.
Melina said “how did you keep your heart?” to Natasha. But I think it’s overwhelmingly true for Yelena too. She went through all of that shit in the red room but she never for a second was like oh those people weren’t my family.

there is discourse happening about what qualifies as an actual "reboot" under my stupidass post and idk man? maybe i just play real fast and loose with the rules, but i personally consider anything that was a big, "the universe/multiverse is being fucked with" type event (especially those that were marketed as being a big change in direction for the dcu as a whole) to be a reboot
they aren't all the same hard hard reboots like the new 52 was, but they are still soft reboots imo?

I always forget that some people ship (movie) Carol with a man, which is so enlightening to me. Like when you discover people in the other hemisphere have different season associations with the months or don't see the same constellations. Or like when you realize there are people who have never eaten your staple foods. Just in awe that we all are here on the same planet living our lives in such wildly different ways, even things that seem so basic and normative

Sometimes, you write the first draft of a fic and you feel shitty about it because it is objectively Not Good Writing. And you're not sure it's salvageable at all, and even if it was, there isn't much point in polishing it up because it's for a very random 3-person ship that nobody has written before and you doubt anyone would be interested in, so it doesn't seem worth trying to edit it, let alone post. So you just feel like you kinda wasted your time there.
And then AEW randomly announces that those exact three people are gonna be teaming on Dynamite next week, and you're just like ''...Well, shit, now I have to post the damn thing! And soon?!'' 😭

For years, I've been trying to put into words Why I give a single iota about Bendy & the Ink Machine, but it's such a tangled mess that no thread can be seperated -- they're all interwoven in a way that makes it hard to pick them out. The game, overall, makes me miserable, because I can see that there was love put into it, but a lot of it is thrown to the wayside in favor of a story that I think was retroactively improved by the sequel's recontextualizing of it, but is ultimately not worth the price of admission & majorly drops the ball.
It's easy to list things I don't like about it -- the gameplay is sparse, the combat is uninteresting, none of the chapters feel connected, the bugs that assault all my playthroughs & kill my saves are consistent & fill me with dread every time I open the game, the lack of thought in the contents of a chapter (chapter 3's wheel ""puzzle"" & the animatronic Bendy from chapter 4, in specifc, really grind my gears), which speaks to the amateurish & rushed way that the game was crafted -- there's a lot to hate, & it's easy to hate it. But I don't. Despite all that, I am compelled by this game, by what it's trying & failing & trying again to say.
It's really easy to understand why you dislike something. I couldn't have told you much about what I did like, in Ink Machine.
& then, I played Dark Revival. I didn't realize I liked the story of Ink Machine, until I played Dark Revival. It's a better made game, it's just not fucking interesting, to me, because it doesn't have a story worth tuning in to.
#em.txt#negative#idk how better to word this. at no point did i ever consider ink machine to have a good story. it's quite bad.#the devs admitted they spliced in fan ideas & tossed out things as they went in response to the fandom#& it still somehow comes out as more. something. like more substance#& see I didn't think the story was that bad when i played dark revival. & then i rebeat the final bit to unlock#the archives -- much beloved btw. glad they brought them back for the sequel -- & read a character's blurb#& i realized the writers live in an alternate dimension where the ''twist'' they ''put in their game'' actually happened#Everyone i have ever seen play dark revival sees wilson being super telegraphed as evil thr whole game#& gets confused when audrey is like 'okay but he's a good dude though' bc nothing makes that make sense#he does nothing that can be viewed as good except oh wait i need to tag spoils now#batdr spoilers#okay. except for throwing malice in cycle breaker jail bc yeah from Audrey's pov that's prolly a good move#she does try to kill you. that's it though. like it's not that they have a common goal she just decides he's good#from nothing. HE KILLS YOU IN THE FIRST 5 MINS OF THE GAME WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT#she spends a lot of time outbursting at alison bc she's been turned inky & hates it but alison didn't do that she just lives here!!!#she gets more mad at joey for telling her he swooced the ink machine than she does at wilson for trapping her & killing her#& summoning his horde to attack her which causes everyone to become hostile towards her#which btw. he never revokes that even when you defend him & are chilling in his manor#so you're still being attacked & shit even though he's actually like good thoughghhh#& it just makes audrey seem stupid for not realizing the obvious villain is evil & mean to her friends for no reason#i need to stop talking now i am going to explode
