people keep asking me how do i draw so fast... the answer is i dont draw fast at all... soup comic took me almost 50 hours total which is the most time i've spent on anything, ever! however, i draw more than i do sleep 😭 i can draw all day and not get tired! and this is not torture for me, i dont sleep enough because i am too excited to draw all the time that it wakes me up (i am sane, i am free and i just love to draw nowadays)

I think as Derek fans we have done a disservice in choosing the perfect profession for him - like yeah, he'd be great at sports, fine being a deputy, and all, but like Derek as a fireman has so much potential! I have read only few fanfics where he has been a firefighter, and I want moreeee! Like being a fireman is perfect for him in any au - his family died in fire, he fights trauma, becomes a firefighter in NY, and yada yada. Hale family is alive! well, no problem - he was a jock in high school, he grows up, decides he wants to be the saving kinda guy, becomes a firefighter in Beacon Hills.

There is so much potential here. And ofc Sterek being the relationship would be the icing on the cake what with him either being a paramedic, EMT, or like whatever profession.

SO, this is a humble request to Sterek fanfic writers - please, please, write few fics with Derek as a firefighter.

a little story/headcanons up ahead, and the sketch for this piece, tehee ;p

she always liked making flower crowns with her parents, especially when inevitably there were leftover flowers that they could throw unto the air to make it seem like it was raining flowers. her dad was always better at making the crowns, but her mama always found the best flowers to use and which went together well. and she always found the best picnic spots.

her dad made sure there were no bees around and that she always had an epipen with a spare and a spare for the spare. her mana made sure none of the food with them had animal products or nuts, and made sure she had her safe foods.

and our little Juanita made sure her family stuck together. sure her parents bickered, but she always had to faux-gag after they kissed and made up. she got to sit and lean on her mama's chest, curled up in his embrace while the sun warmed her scaly skin, listening to the humming of her dad while he carefully made her the most beautiful flower crown befitting a princess. she got to laugh and giggle while her dad gave her the extra flowers to throw into the air and her mama gave a weather report of incoming "flower rain".

her dad still checks for bees and makes sure he has an epipen and makes flowercrowns, but he no longer has anyone to do it for.

her mama still makes sure there's no nuts or meat in the food he brings with him, but he realises as soon as the rain falls that there's no reason to do it anymore.

and our little huevo isn't there to bring them together.

You talked a little while ago about why you don't think Shidou would make a good father to Amane (agreed) and proposed the idea of Mahiru adopting Amane. That's cute but I want to tell you about my post-MILGRAM headcanon:

Amane joins the Kajiyamas

Not Fuuta specifically adopting her, but like him taking her back to his family's house. I'm sure they'd have a spare room

I think people don't think about Fuuta's homelife much, or if they do they take Fuuta's one interrogation question where he calls his dad an old fogey and assume its like, abusive

And don't get me wrong, I don't think the Kajiyama household are perfect. Fuuta' beautician sister surely hasn't helped when it comes to Fuuta's body image issues and I'm betting they're all a bunch of tsunderes too embarrassed to say they love each other

But in a series where most of the abused characters are still convinced their abuser loved them/acted out of love. Seeing a guy not be afraid to call his dad a loser is almost a green flag

I think it'd be good for Amane to not necessarily be adopted as the lone child to a single parent but get to be introduced to a very different style of family unit from her own One where its normal to express different opinions or disagreements or even have arguments and not have it be the end of the world

Amane already has a snarky side to her, I bet it'd flourish in a brash household like the Kajiyama's (or at least how I imagine them to be)

I agree -- I never interpreted Fuuta's family as abusive or harmful, just not super close and struggling a bit after his mother left. (And yeah, all as openly emotional as him😭) They seem stable and very capable to taking in a extra, very well-behaved child. Assuming Fuuta is the way he is because of them, that atmosphere of being very honest and forward would work well for her. They say things as they are, little by little pointing out the harmful parts of her worldview. Like you said, none of them make excuses about harmful behavior stemming from love, so she'd get a really healthy dose of truth in that area. She never feels coddled or treated like a baby. They care for her while treating her very maturely.

I absolutely love how well she and Fuuta get along, with that snarky side to her that you mentioned. It would allow her to fit in well in the new household, getting the sense of belonging she'll lose after leaving the cult. Also, seeing how Fuuta and his sister let things slip and aren't perfect sons/daughters, she'll be able to relax about earning a parent's love through perfect behavior. She'll probably stay exactly the same, but her stress about it will fade <3

I doubt Fuuta's father can ever replace the hole she'll have from her own father, but the addition of an older sister will be huge. Amane will never get the feeling her mother is being replaced, but the woman will still fill the gap of the older, same-gender role model she needs. Her beautician job may throw Amane at first (being an indulgence in vanity), but it isn't as in-your-face as other careers. I think she could definitely ease Amane into accepting it, and over time, accepting her own personal "indulgence."

Plus, her moving in would also be really good for Fuuta! I think he'd recognize there's a ton of fun things she missed out on, and that heroic side of him outweighs the part that cringes: he gripes and groans about going to "kid places," but he's always the one to announce "I can't believe you've never been to __, we're going right now!!" This allows him to touch grass leave the house and experience his own life to the fullest. He's able to channel his desire to help society into a healthier outlet. Also, seeing her studying habits and plans for the future might even inspire him to do the same. (might.) He becomes the stereotypical good big brother, though of course he denies it viciously...

I have recently been going insane over their friendship so I'm completely taken with this idea OUGH thank you for telling me ;-----;

1. okay right off the bat I was surprised to see that M.A.I.A.'s room looks so much brighter than it has in the past??? damn, she REALLY needed a new light bulb, huh?

Still got a crack in that window, though... 😑 C'mon Matt, it'll let all the pests in. no fog allowed!!!

granted, the room from the TGMH era has a space view so it makes sense that it's so dark, but I think it's interesting that there's definitely a difference between the room in TGOA and the room today, despite them both having a nice daytime view out the window.

does this ✨️mean✨️ anything? maybe not but I think it's interesting, especially considering how bright this episode's cover is. perhaps we could extrapolate something about coming out of the shadows and into the light of discovery, having hope for brighter days, but idk. I'm not gonna think too hard about it right now, lol.

also I just love Jackie's art and want to live in this room. M.A.I.A., do you want a roommate??? I can bring a dehumidifier to keep a certain foggy bastard from messing with you—

—so I think we're definitely gonna have some interesting time-hopping. dunno how that's gonna play out, if we'll have flashbacks or whole parallel timelines happening, but I am very excited to see! ...er, listen!

3. the arrrrrrrrt oh my god it's so pretty! I love Jackie's scenery and I am SO EXCITED to see what else she's done when we get more transmissions and/or the episode broadcasts!

4. it's neat that the episode is building off of the setting of The Mysterious Island without following the events. The calm before the storm Inspiration comes in many forms!

I actually don't know the original story at all but these places sound interesting! A house made of granite, a towering volcano, a grotto with an incredible secret.... sounds like great staging for our next episode. and some good Jackie art.

I wonder if the grotto's secret has anything to do with a certain Searcher captain whose whereabouts are currently unknown. 👀

5. gotta wait till the next transmission to hear about Ahlaam and Dakkar and any other characters—hopefully we'll get to hear a little something about my beloved Captain Addison Arvad???? 👉🏻👈🏻
