beware of ramblings below lol
this is my heartgold team from my most recent playthrough! it’s intended to be a “forever” save that won’t be reset over. years ago my original hg cart was stolen, so when i bought a new copy off ebay (before the prices jumped lol), i figured instead of playing through with my old team again, i’d do a slightly different team that reflected my current pokemon preferences as opposed to what 10 y/o me picked.
they were really fun to play with! this is their hall of fame debut from back in 2021 (and their condition before challenging the indigo league + names) :]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kaleidos (ho-oh) wasn’t added to my team until postgame. only then did i realize that having a legendary on your main team is actually pretty fun. plus their access to fly is handy
every so often i pick up the game again to go for another completion goal, and most recently i got the shiny leaf crowns on all of them <33
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
also i didn’t realize until recently that the shiny leaf mechanic wasn’t common knowledge. then again the game barely alludes to it (if at all), but here’s a serebii link about it: https://www.serebii.net/heartgoldsoulsilver/shinyleaf.shtml
anyway yeah haha i love my babies… i’m looking forward to reaching more goals for them like becoming pokeathlon medalists, and getting a bunch of ribbons on them!

[The Old Astronomer To His Pupil, Sarah Williams]
Thirsty.
It’s the only thing she can think. It’s all dark and her eyes are sticky shut and she’s so thirsty. It isn’t supposed to make a sound.
Her eyes flicker open to the weak barking whine that come out of her without meaning to. “Thirsty,” she whines, though it’s not supposed to sound like that. When she blinks the stickiness from her eyes a person comes into view, blurry at first. It isn’t one she recognizes. She hopes this one won’t hurt her. She hopes this one will help her.
“Ah, there you are,” says the person in a soft rumbly voice. It’s a man with strangely colored eyes and a wiry beard speckled and striped with white around his mouth. He presses a hand to her back, making her shiver, and she sits up almost surprised to have been lying like that.
“Alright, there you go,” says this careful man. He tips his head in a question she cannot answer, then quickly walks away. She wants to follow him, instinctively, but thinks she does not have the strength. So she just whimpers. There is no one else to hear her. But it’s as if that calls the man back, because he returns with a worried look and holding a small clear cup. She can nearly smell the liquid inside it, can taste it already, and finds her limbs flailing as she reaches for it.
The strange man holds up a finger. She knows that that means wait. She forces herself to still and the man smiles behind his beard. That’s good, isn’t it?
“Drink it slowly,” he says. “Don’t shock your system. You’ll feel very thirsty for a while, but you had an IV the entire time to keep you hydrated.”
She isn’t sure what most of that means, but she tries to drink the cool, sweet water slowly like he said. She wants this man to be happy with her. She dips her tongue into the cup first, as if to lap it up, and ends up spilling much of it when her hands fumble.
“Careful, now,” chuckles the man. He has a familiar rolling accent, and she both knows and does not know the language he speaks in. “You were a part of the younger batch, but your charts didn’t show a name,” he says once she has sipped down all of the water. “You can call me Daniel,” he continues. “and you are?”
She tips her head sideways. There is only a piece of something she thinks may have been a name, once. “I don’t know,” she tries to say, her voice raspy from dis- and mis-use.
The man, Daniel, nods. He turns and writes something down somewhere. She tenses at this. This is familiar. She doesn’t think this is good. “That’s perfectly alright,” Daniel reassures her, though. “Amnesia is a noted side effect of this type of cryogenic inducement, especially at these rates.”
She tries to clear her throat. It sounds like a growl. “Is it… forever?” She asks. It does not bother her. She would just like to know, since it seems that she can ask.
Daniel hesitates, tipping first one shoulder up and then the other, one side and then the next, like swaying back and forth. “Most often, no. It can be permanent in some cases, but usually it’s a case of time and patience. You’ll be fine,” he says kindly. “Do you have a name you would like me to call you in the meantime?”
She thinks of the last warm voice she remembers. It fades in and out of her memory, black and white. “I think…” she licks her lips. “Lai?” And watches for a reaction.
Daniel nods. He writes another thing down, maybe her name? And smiles. “It’s good to meet you, Lai. I’ve already told you my name. I’m this vessel’s generational medic. If you have any health concerns, you may come to me anytime. And since you seem to be suffering from post-cryosleep memory loss, let me explain:
“We are aboard the mid-journey ship Aleya, en route to an experimental colony on the upper edges of the star Earendel’s solar range. As you likely learned in school before your boarding, if you remember that, humans can only stay in a cryogenized state for so long before bodily systems begin to break down, so this journey has been planned in stages. You and I will not see the light of Earendel in our lifetimes.” His voice quietens at this, a wry smile faintly visible in his eyes if not his mouth. “This generation will grow old and reproduce and raise each other so that when they are of a safe age, the next can go to sleep knowing they will wake in their new home.”
Lai sits very still, watching Daniel intently. All of what he is saying sounds very big. Big words she does not know, big ideas she can’t understand, but what she does hear is that what they are doing is big, very big, bigger than anything she’s done before. “I’m… important?” She hears herself say, strange raspy high voice she isn’t used to.
Daniel nods, smiles again. She likes that. The smile directed at her, mostly, but also the being important. She thinks she’s been told that before. She thinks it’s nice. She tips her head. “So what now?” She questions. There must be more beyond this space they’re in. How much is there she can’t see? From what Daniel said, everything seems very vast. She isn’t sure about that.
Daniel breathes out thoughtfully. “There are semi-private living quarters enough for everyone onboard this craft. You were the last of the batch to come out of cryo, so I will escort you to re-meet the rest of them, so you won’t run the risk of getting lost. Do you feel strong enough to walk a slight distance?”
She hesitates, then nods. She believes she can manage, but Daniel still has to steady her for a moment when she slides from the cot she was on. Standing on two feet feels strange. She looks up at Daniel, nervously licking her lips. She sneezes.
“будь здоро́ва,” Daniel chuckles as Lai stares at him, wide-eyed. She feels her face form into a grin, teeth showing and all.
“мой родной язык,” She exclaims in kind. My mother tongue!
Daniel nods thoughtfully. “I thought as much. It’s mine as well, ancestrally at least.” He says the last as an aside, half quietly and looking off as it at nothing before his gaze fixes back onto Lai. “Shall we go?” He holds out his hand in beckoning and from instinct, Lai reaches out and takes it. Daniel watches this, puzzled, but does not pull his hand away and she is grateful.
He leads her into a long, high-roofed hallway, walking slowly as if he worries she cannot keep up. But she does. She follows him by the hand through the tall white halls, head turned wonderingly up to see the ceiling, tiled in reflective blue. “What is that?” She asks softly.
Daniel follows her gaze up. “Ah. Stained glass,” he says. “This hall ends in the chapel, if you were to return the way we’ve just come,” he explains. “The stained glass lights the way. I like to think it offers some semblance of hope, as well. The rest of the Aleya is not so artful.”
The blue-ceilinged hall opens into a wide, vast place that immediately dizzies her when she reaches it, and she grasps onto Daniel’s hand harder. There are platforms at all levels around the edges of the tall, too tall walls, some wrapping all the way as far as she can see and disappearing into halls that must be similar to the one they’ve just emerged from. She gasps softly taking it all in, layers upon layers of floors and platforms, small forms moving around atop them and at the bottom, maybe a real floor. There are dozens of enormous glass windows, filled with inky blackness broken up by specks and swirls of light. It’s familiar. It scares her. It’s all she can see.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Asks Daniel softly. She looks up at him again, eyes pleading, don’t leave me, keep me safe. “Are you okay?”
Lai shudders. “это огромно,” She whispers. It’s vast.
Daniel hums and nods. “действительно.” Indeed, he tells her. “It’s our whole world.”
He leads her across the platforms in a complicated thread where her feet stutter and hesitate at times. She follows blindly, still staring around at this place, so big, so cold. She can hardly wrap her head around it. The sky outside is so dark, but is it still the sky with them in it? She doesn’t know. She isn’t sure she wants to know. The sky is their whole world, it seems.
They turn down another hall, plain ceiling tiles above them instead of stained glass. She follows them with her eyes, losing count every few, and follows Daniel by sound. His footsteps are steady, steady, then stop and Lai finds herself in a more shadowy room, where there’s a rustle of blended sounds and smaller doors that lead off into who knows where.
There are more people in there, in varying states of motion. A man with dark skin sits on a rounded, cushioned bench frowning and squinting at a flat, glowing object in his hand. Two children hover behind a different man who stands in a corner speaking to a woman with green eyes. In a chair near a doorway there is a girl with curly hair holding a book, turned sideways with her legs thrown over the arm of the chair. Scattered all about the room are little metal bottles that she is sure are full of water.
“Last one?” Asks the dark skinned man, looking up. He sets down the glowing thing and stands. “Took a while, didn’t it?”
“She did,” Daniel agrees, lightly squeezing Lai’s hand before letting go. She tries to not be upset at that. But then he puts his hand on her shoulder and it warms her. “This is Lai. She’s suffering from a touch of post-freeze memory loss, so if someone would like to help her settle in…”
The girl with the book unfolds herself from the chair. “I’ve got her, doctor,” She says in a lilting accent. “There is a bed in our cabin anyway, with Marla and her sister as well.” She offers Lai a smile. “I’m Esperanza.”
“Hello,” Lai says. This girl is taller than her, moves strangely. Her hair is long and curly. Lai thinks she is interesting.
“I will leave you to settle in,” says Daniel. Lai turns to watch him go and wishes he wouldn’t leave. “Желаю вам удачи,” He says in their shared first language. I wish you good luck.

SAGAU | Imposter AU
Part 1
You’re pretty sure that if there was an award for the most braindead, incomprehensibly stupid plan ever, you’d earn at least third place, because what else could you possibly call sneaking into Albedo’s camp on Dragonspine with the intent of rifling through his correspondence.
The smart part of your brain (see: the negligibly small part of your brain) tells you that Albedo has a very sharp sword and knows how to use it, and also has magic rocks that obliterate monsters on the regular, and is probably ready and willing to turn you into a red splatter against the cave wall.
The rest of your brain tells you that you’ve got to know what the hell is going on, and clearly you can’t just go around asking people because somehow your face is notifying them that you are to be killed on sight, regardless of what region you’re in. You would know. You have done extensive research.
(You couldn’t even make it past Mondstadt’s front gates. Covering the lower half of your face with a scarf didn’t work in Liyue, and you figured that covering your entire face would just make you more suspicious. You nearly lost your head, literally, when you teleported directly into Inazuma City, and the people of Sumeru weren't happy to see you, either. Even the smaller villages and towns, like Springvale or Konda Village, had guards who knew to try to apprehend you, and it was only your decision to stay within very close proximity to the teleport waypoints that kept your body blessedly free of stab wounds.)
Ergo, Albedo’s camp, which has a grand population of one (1) guy who probably would have to leave at some point. You’re pretty much banking on the possibility that Albedo would have received a letter or something that might explain what’s going on, because something has to be tipping everyone off about you and your apparently-very-killable face, right?
You… are also banking on the likelihood that Albedo is actually still on Dragonspine instead of stationed down in Mondstadt, but if that turns out to not be the case, then no harm, no foul, you can just figure out another plan.
So your current plan is to sneak into his camp while he’s not there and steal the contents of his mailbox, because you’re getting desperate and this is the only thing that you can think of.
It’s probably not your only option. It’s probably not even your best option; but it’s the only one you can think of, so.
Yeah.
You’re doing this.
Or, at least, you would be doing this if you hadn’t forgotten one teeny-tiny issue: the route from the nearest teleport waypoint to Albedo’s camp is interrupted by a broken bridge and a hundred-foot drop down the cliffside. The broken bridge that requires a wind glider to get across. That broken bridge.
Yeah.
You are so fucking mad.
So now, you’re crouching by the broken end of the bridge, staring at the wide gap and trying to figure out how steep the cliffside is (very) and whether or not you can kind of scramble across to the other side (definitely not), because there are no other waypoints on Dragonspine that you could feasibly get to the camp from without freezing to death in the meantime (you’ve checked the game map).
Maybe the waypoint by the exit to Starglow Cavern…? But it’s so far away, and you’re pretty sure that the path from there to the camp runs right past a Ruin Grader. Or was it a Frostarm Lawachurl?
You’re so focused on the map and the broken bridge and the increasingly tempting decision to just give up and try to break into the Favonius Headquarters instead that you don’t hear the footsteps coming up from behind you, near-silent under the whistling of the wind.
“Well, well, what do we have here?”
Alarm bells go off in your head, accompanied by all of the curse words in your vocabulary.
You’d been so anxious about being spotted all day that, as you whirl around to face whoever had snuck up on you, you expect to see ash-blond hair and a face belonging to the worst in-game model in Genshin Impact. Or, if you’re really unlucky (and you’re starting to consider yourself to be so), a nun.
Instead, you’re greeted by Kaeya and his fucking indecipherable smile, and you have to wonder if this is the worst case scenario.
You think he’s trying to look unthreatening; both of his hands are empty and in sight, held up like he’s placating a skittish animal, and he’s left a respectable ten feet of distance between you. Until now, you hadn’t realized how much you missed being greeted with a smile instead of a sword, but you did, so much that Kaeya’s was almost enough to get you to drop your guard.
You’ve read his character story, though, so it just makes you wary.
“You’re quite a ways from the nearest camp,” Kaeya comments, amiable as ever. His eye twinkles like a false star. “Without winter gear, too. You wouldn’t want to freeze out here, would you?”
That’s a fucking threat.
‘Yeah, it’s time to leave,’ you decide, before remembering that you need to be touching a waypoint to teleport and Kaeya is blocking the fucking way. In fact— you realize with rising panic— you’ve trapped yourself on the edge of the broken bridge, unless you want to drop a hundred meters into Wyrmrest Valley.
You’d bet that Kaeya knows it, too. He doesn’t even look cold. Bastard. Your hands are stiff and painful despite being tucked into your jacket, your entire face stings bitterly, and even breathing feels like you’re inhaling glass shards. You can’t feel your ears and you’re too afraid to check.
How long have you been away from the waypoint? Five minutes? Ten? Maybe Kaeya doesn’t even plan on doing anything more. Maybe he’ll just block you off from the waypoint until you freeze to death.
Shit. Shit shit shit.
You’re just fucking staring at each other, now, Kaeya with his knowing smile and you wondering if you can, like, trip him, or something. You don’t know. He has a sword and ice powers while you can’t feel your hands or feet. That’s what you get for being an isekai protagonist, you guess.
Christ. You’re going to die here.
Then-
Then-
Kaeya shifts his weight like he’s about to close the gap between you, and your fight or flight instincts kick in— and since you can’t run anywhere, you find yourself clutching an icy rock that’s probably hurting you more than it could possibly hurt him, frost-stiff fingers coming alive with pain. You don’t think that there’s enough strength in your arms to do much damage with it. You bare your teeth and think that they might suffice, if you can stomach the taste of blood.
“Get the fuck away from me, Kaeya,” you bite out, relieved when it comes out like a threat instead of a desperate plea. You scramble to follow up, wildly casting around for anything that’ll give you some leverage in this confrontation that doesn’t involve your usual go-to of threatening to have an intimate night with his father. You think that if you spill his secrets he will impulsively separate your head from your shoulders, so that’s out. “I literally have no fucking clue what’s going on.”
Well… that wasn’t going to gain you any leverage, but maybe it’ll score you some pity points?
And—
Kaeya laughs.
The sound is so jarring, so anticlimactic, that irrational rage sweeps over you. You want to punch his teeth in for having the audacity to laugh at you and giving you emotional whiplash. Instead, you hunker down against the cold and wait for him to stop.
He does, after a few seconds, wiping a fake tear from his eye (at least, you assume it’s fake. You aren’t that funny). “I must admit, you aren’t quite what I was expecting,” he muses. “I wonder… just what have you done to anger the gods?”
A laugh scrapes its way, unbidden, from your throat. Your everything hurts, you’re literally freezing to death, and honestly? You’re exhausted.
“Shit, man. I’d sure like to know, too.”

So! I haven’t seen anybody mention this yet, BUT
The original Guild Wars Trilogy set is currently on sale on Steam! And from what I’ve seen, that doesn’t happen very often. So if you’ve been waiting for a time to snag it, there you go. Just a few notes though;
- the Steam trilogy pack does not include the Eye of the North expansion. This means there’s still another part to get to unlock the GW2 Hall of Monuments, and it’s only available on the Guild Wars store. It’s not available for purchase on Steam, far as I can find.
- because of that, the deal is actually only about $5 off the ‘complete collection’ version; with the Steam discount it’ll total around $35 ($15 for the trilogy and $20 for the Eye of the North) while the complete pack on their store is about $40.
Anyway, do with that as you wish. (And if I got any details or math wrong, feel free to let me know!)

I don’t love when people try and use the “He’s just a little kid” argument for Cartman. Like, okay, sure he’s ten, but it’s still not excusable and also he has committed homicide. That is definitely not regular ten year old behavior.
Like, if he was just spitting on people and taking lunch money then there could be so arguments to be made for how children grow out of that behavior/blaming his enabling mother. But after a certain amount of felonies you have to consider that maybe he is a fictional character who is meant to be satirically irredeemable.
I wouldn’t mind so much except the people who make this argument are usually defending especially antisemitism, but also homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, ableism and everything else. Like why are you dying on the hill that Eric Cartman is just a kid? Makes you sound a little bit like you agree with him, even if you swear that you don’t.
And ending your post with “none of the other kids are perfect either.” Does not help your point. Nobody was saying that. You’re fighting a strawman. But just because nobody else is perfect doesn’t mean that Cartman is justified or better in anyway. This is using two common tactics in shitty debates, straw manning and using “what-about-ism” to point to the other side’s flaws to deflect from their own.
And I don’t dislike Cartman in the show. He is obviously the one of the most important characters, he defines most of the dynamics. I just think it’s so silly that people are like “stop calling Cartman bad, he’s just a little kid.” He is supposed to be satirically awful and defending him makes you look like you defend antisemitism and everything else. Again, even if you swear that you don’t.

considering possiblyyyyy including the rest of the 7 teens in the rewrite in some capacity but like not as ashas friends but not as background characters either bc I wanna keep them as a group to some extent but not like acquaintances yk?? If that makes sense? my idea is maybe they can also work in the castle like dahlia does bc iirc shes the only one who directly works there but everyone else just kinda either bummed around or helped her out but that was kinda it?? So I’m considering maybe I could make them work in other parts of the castle so like I said they can be considered a group/collective bc they work in the same place but don’t actually hang out or anything ? But yeah idk shrugs it’s felt a bit odd for me to straight up have them not in it at all bc making them just bg characters feels weird bc aforementioned Simon and dahlia being ashas friends would be kinda out of place/pointless reference wise if you didn’t have all the dwarfs together in some form or fashion
so uhhhhh reason I’m making this post at all is bc I’d love to have any suggestions for like their jobs or thing they do etc
also yes this is just an excuse to include bazima bc I love her but won’t fit in the current group dynamic /hj

saw jaws for the first time today and i can’t believe despite knowing so much about it through cultural osmosis i had no clue matt hooper existed and i love that funky little guy
#he’s just autistic about sharks and i love him for it. i forgive him for his crimes (being rich)#also his line about ‘having enough of these working class heroes’ or whatever. i was ready to fight him for that one#i knew about concerned police officer and weird old vaguely threatening fisherman but no one ever mentioned the silly little guy who just.#i knew when every jumpscare happened but i didn’t know one of the three main characters existed#he just loves sharks man. man was so funny. ‘hey i was told to tell you guys that you shouldnt all get in that boat’ ‘we’ll do it anyway’#‘okay! they’re going to die :)’#crazwaz posted#id seen the clip of matt discovering the body and the clip of them paddling to shore at the end!!!#but i’d never seen any clip of quint so i figured the one at the end was him and the body discoverer was a random character#he was wearing a wetsuit in the body scene and is seen from far away in behind in the final one so i have the right to not have realized ok#also weirdly enough my submechanophobia was not really triggered at all? which is wild. like one or two times it happened but like. that was#so weird to just. know that normally i’m scared of that kind of thing but it just. didn’t happen? like i’m scared of the jaws animatronic on#the universal ride! it scared me in pics and it scared me when i saw it irl! but bruce? nah she was just fine#that’s another thing i always think of bruce as she/her like. them all using he/him for the shark confused me#my brother mentioned she’s a girl in jaws 3d + in the wild girl sharks are bigger than boys so that’s probably what caused it#but i still think of godzilla as she/her and that one has like no evidence so maybe my brain just does that to them or smth

I’d talk more about this art#BUT THIS AU GRIPPED ME BY THE HAIR AND WOULD NOT LET GO it’s so fun and I’m just AHHHH#like March AND Eko’s Itty bitty baby wings ;0; and Messar having the most preened wings#Messar 100% has a full care routine in place for those wings and I KNOW he’ll never admit it#GUGU’S BEING FIREPROOOOOOFFFF which I feel also adds an extra layer to when he and Kai wrap their wings around the whole group#like!!!! they’re extra safe!!!!!!!!!!!#and Tonari’s POISON COAT GGRRRR IM GOING FERAL but also like I’m thinking of that one scene from the movie Holes#where the lady paints her nails with poison and I’m just imagining Tonari plucking one of her own wings to write with whenever she needs to#like it’s an inconspicuous weapon too like she’s writing and next second WHAM feather to the throat 😩❤️#HAIRO’S THO. THAT ONE WAS INSPIRED. It hurts my heart that he has a complicated relationship with his wings but it’s so beautiful like#he has a disability!!! he now works harder to use his wings than anyone else!!!!!#and it’s kinda nice in a way cuz I feel like this could be a way for him and Eko to bond#since they both have had trouble with flying and whatnot#given her having a few wings that are smaller than the other like I kinda like the idea of him taking out Eko and March to practice flying#… gosh Kai and Gugu wrapping their wings around anyone I didn’t mean to circle back to this#but wow this AU has my whole heart Alpha I love it!!!
