like I do feel bad to not be happy about something that a lot of people are happy about but almost every summer servant being lb6 AND the anniversary servant being a summer servant connected to lb6 is just. A lot. Like I’m glad that you like aesc and she works with her already existing narrative but putting a summer servant (bc she is, Morgan shows up in a swimsuit and her alignment changes to lawful summer in third ascension) uo as the anniversary servant is just. It feels really weird to me and i don’t like it. Even pan human history Morgan would’ve felt more suited to the slot than a summer unit.

Getting mad that a show cut scenes or “filmed too many scenes while knowing their time slot” is pretty naïve. It sucks the Buddie karaoke scene was cut, especially because Oliver clearly had both fun and dreaded doing it since he doesn’t like karaoke, but it’s not the first scene in the history of television to be cut in post production.

I understand the upset, and I do think they’re using Buck and Eddie’s friendship to keep Buddie shippers interested this season due to Buck being canonically bi now, but I can’t say I think the scene being cut was a form of bait. I think and have said it before, season seven was not planned out. I think Tim and co had to wing it a little more than usual to hurry up and get something on air for ABC to keep the show from being cancelled. Therefore, as the episodes are written and filmed and edited, things are ending up on the cutting room floor.

Tommy did gain popularity, they are still trying to figure out what to do with Marisol, and whatever else of happening behind the scenes that we don’t know about, are actively affecting the direction being chosen. There’s no way to know if Tommy will be around for a while, but there’s also no way to know if it was ever planned that he be here and gone within two or so episodes.

And Oliver can say all day that Tim Minear writes what he wants and doesn’t let anyone tell him how to build his show, but that’s not 100% true. Anyone who knows a tiny bit about the industry knows that, and even if ABC gave him more room to stretch his wings, the execs still have the ultimate say.

So I while I don’t yet think Buddie has been axed by the network, it’s possible whatever the original idea or direction for this episode was, might have been altered in some way. We also don’t know all of what has been cut, for any of the characters. Meaning, it’s ignorant to claim they only cut Buddie to bait the ship, when no one knows what else we were supposed to see this season anyway, that didn’t make it in the first five episodes.

this isnt about anyone or anything in particular just general fandom behavior ive seen but im begging people to rethink how they react to discussions about sexuality when it comes to lgbtq+ minor fictional characters. Fandoms aren’t teaching-learning spaces in the traditional sense by any means, but for queer teens (like a lot of us once were) sometimes it becomes the only space in which you are recognized.

the argument i see the most is about protecting minors and accusing everyone of being a creep at the slightest mention of implied attraction. but... by doing that you’re doing the opposite of protecting them😭. you can make a lot of queer kids feel like their attraction isn’t something natural. like they’re the odd ones out, especially if they grow up surrounded by their straight friends who get to talk about that openly and have a million stories to relate to.

I was just thinking about the way sttwt has been known to react whenever someone implies mike and will are attracted to each other and the way they treated authors about their fics in which they KISS.

im genuinely asking. do you not want lgbtq+ teens to grow up with stories they can relate to and make them feel less alone. and i don’t mean nsf//. im talking about being able to write fics which feature these conversations in a respectful way without people making authors go through hell. one of the best examples i can think of is the latest plot of the heartstopper comic. the characters are 16, in a relationship and they talk about sex, boundaries and consent with each other and their friends. And the thing is, coming of age stories about straight characters growing up include these topics most of the time. i do not understand why do you want it to be different for queer kids. you are making the same arguments as conservative people, the same ones they use to fire teachers who DARE to mention lgbtq+ kids exist too, the same ones they use in states where they’re controlling the school libraries (mind you im not even american, but i heard about it). you’re advocating for the wrong cause here i’m begging you to understand.
