Aria’s Long List of Lucifer & Deckerstar Fic Recs (Part 6)

Hello, all! It seems like it’s about that time again to continue my fic rec series! I haven’t had a ton of time to read since the S4 finale because I had a pretty hellacious summer, after which I’ve been so focused on writing. Hence why this has taken so long.

DISCLAIMER: These recs are organized by author, and the order is not meant to imply an order of preference. All recommendations are completed fics unless otherwise noted. If anyone knows the @ tumblr names for any of the authors I missed tagging, or if I got anything wrong, please let me know. Lastly, this is just a list of things I’ve read that I really enjoyed, and I want to spread the love. That’s it. Period. It’s not politics, and I have no ulterior motives, okay?

The Devil Goes to Shul by @arlome. Deckerstar. 7k words. Post-S4. In which Lucifer meets a Rabbi. This is such an interesting commentary on the differences between the various Abramahamic religions’ perceptions of the Devil. Rabbi Schulman is a well-drawn, fascinating, fantastic character. A fic that’s great food for thought, with a dash of good humor, and a little smut thrown in for good measure.

Of Honey, Sulphur, & Bone by @aryanightshade. Deckerstar. 35k words. Post-S3. In which the end of 3x24 goes a little differently. Cain captures both Lucifer & Chloe and takes them prisoner, absconding with them to his bunker in the desert. This fic has some graphic blood and gore scenes, so be wary if that’s a trigger for you, but the revelation; Chloe’s dueling panic, doubt, and empathy; the beautiful hurt/comfort; and the emotional pulse of this story makes for a riveting read.

The Ghosts of Picnic Table #29 by @elleflies. Deckerstar. Maze & Chloe. ~50k words when completely posted. Post-S4. This story is technically a WIP because it’s still in the process of being posted, but it’s already completely written, and I know it’s good because I betaed it and got to see how it all ends up, so I feel confident recommending it, now. A year after Lucifer departed, Chloe is still grieving his loss, when an unusual case at a haunted picnic table crops up, and she enlists Maze’s help to investigate. Lots of female bonding and fun in this story. And a ton of emotional intimacy and mutual pining for Deckerstar when Lucifer mysteriously starts showing up in Chloe’s dreams.

Boom by emynii & @obliobla. Lucifer & Dan. 4k words. In which Lucifer & Dan get trapped under an exploded building, and the only thing that’s stopping Dan from being crushed are Lucifer’s fanned out wings. Cue revelation. Cue platonic Douchifer stuff. And have some hurt Lucifer and hurt Dan to top it off. A lovely mix.

Trouble by Design by @hiromystory. Deckerstar. Lucifer & Dan. 76k words. Originally recommended as a WIP, now it’s done! A post-S3 Deckerstar scenario told in novel form. My favorite thing about this story is actually the author’s in-depth exploration of how Dan might react to a Devilish revelation. Hint: not well. Hiro deftly tackles Dan’s feelings about some of the questionable stuff he’s done through the lens of him now knowing the punishment that awaits him, and it’s both captivating and heart wrenching.

Guilt by liannabob. Deckerstar. 22k words. Post-S3. In which Chloe doesn’t take the revelation of Lucifer’s devil-ness all that well, and dire consequences ensue. This fic. Was. So. Angsty. The idea of Lucifer slumming in Hell loops for things he loves about Earth is just ugh. So good. And awful at the same time. But in a good way. And I promise the payoff for this angst is so touching and very worth it.

Patrick the Bartender Is Not Paid Enough for This Shit by liannabob. Patrick. 15k words. Canon-compliant S1 fic. I know, I know. Patrick, you’re saying. Who the hell is Patrick? Remember way back in the S1 pilot, when that bartender pops up from behind the bar, after having given Maze some head, and Maze is all cat-caught-the-canary, “You can go, Patrick.” Yes. That Patrick. This fic basically takes that character who never got a single line and gives him a whole personality and backstory and POV. The premise of this fic is that pretty much every employee at Lux low-key knows (and is fine with the fact) Lucifer is the actual Devil. And it’s. AMAZING. HYSTERICAL. And PERFECT. If you never read another OC fic in your life, at least give this one a shot. You won’t regret it.

Smoke & Mirrors by @theleafpile. Deckerstar. 80k words. An all-human mobster AU. In which Lucifer is the Devil of Los Angeles, and Chloe is still a homicide detective for the LAPD, who gets involved with him against her better judgment. This fic manages to maintain the integrity and essence of the characters we know and love, while simultaneously transporting them to an entirely new premise, and I loved it. I love theleafpile’s lyrical writing style. And I love the little bits of mythology she injects that suggest … this “all human” AU might not be what it seems on the surface. It takes a special kind of writer to pull off this kind of transformative AU, and theleafpile does it aplomb.

The Free Parking Jackpot Rule by lilith_morgana. Deckerstar. 3.8k words. Interstitial, canon-compliant S3 fic. Offers a little bit more context for the unicorn Trixie painted on Lucifer’s cheek in S3 on monopoly night. A concentrated shot of angst, with some lovely characterization to boot.

The Delusional Devil by @maimat2. Deckerstar. 25k words. Late S2 era. A casefic case-study on Chloe’s empathy. Based on the premise that she naturally assumes Lucifer’s wholly human self has some kind of mental trauma or disorder. When Lucifer starts acting more … more, she assumes he’s losing his grip on reality. I loved the touching way this story delved into Chloe & Lucifer’s friendship, and of course I loved all the hints of Lucifer’s otherness, which were tempered by Chloe’s human perceptions.

I Will Fear No Evil by @miahclone. Lucifer & Dan. 18k words. An interstitial S4 piece, arguably canon-compliant until proven otherwise. In which Lucifer & Dan are taken prisoner by some cultists, and Lucifer is subjected to an exorcism that goes horribly wrong. WARNING: if you suffer from emetophobia, this fic will be extremely triggering. I don’t have emetophobia, and I still got a bit queasy. There is also some pretty graphic blood & gore. This is quintessential whump. But this is well worth a read if you’re a sucker for Dan & Lucifer platonic bonding, hurt Lucifer, hurt/comfort in general, endings that make you go, “Whoa! New head canon!” and humor in the face of shit circumstances. Which I very much am. So. There you go :D

De Profundis by @mswyrr. Amenadiel & Lucifer. 3k words. Post-S4. Amenadiel offers Lucifer a solution to the problem of Hell needing to be ruled by an angel. A beautifully written brother-bonding fic, and, honestly, I think it’s the most straightforward way to fix how S4 ended.

Time Heals All Wounds by @notonelineff. Deckerstar. 23k words. Post-S3. Fills in the blanks for how things could have gone after S3. Lucifer is in dire need of medical aid, and Chloe tries to help. Satisfying hurt/comfort, and a lovely resolution.

Ouroboros by @pandainthestars. Deckerstar. 3k words. Events happen slightly differently in 4x09. Chloe & Lucifer chase after Kinley. Lucifer goes full-Devil when they’re in pursuit, not when they’re at Lux, which prompts some very interesting/poignant discussion between Chloe & Lucifer. I loved Chloe’s assertion of the ouroboros metaphor. A quick, angsty read.

A question of faith by @pixelbypixelfanfic. Ella & Lucifer. 2.1k words. A post-reveal fic for Ella, in which Lucifer & Ella discuss her faith. A poignant, thoughtful little piece that I really enjoyed.

Soup Kitchen by @tarysande. Deckerstar. 1k words. Speculative scene-replacement, S4. A heart-wrenching little interstitial scene for 4x03 that looks at how things may have gone if Lucifer hadn’t already been pushed by Father Kinley into doubting Chloe’s intentions.

my definition of holy (changes with each loss) by @thewollfgang. Deckerstar. 3k words. Post-S4. So … this fic doesn’t end happy. At all. Beware if that’s a problem for you. But if you want some delicious, cutting, heart-wrenching angst to roll around in for a while, this fic is your jam. The concept of Chloe praying to Lucifer intermittently, giving him updates, sending him her love, as she lives her life on Earth, and he’s stuck in Hell is just … oh, my god, my heart.

drunk in love by @thewollfgang. Deckerstar. 4k words. Post-S4. This fic isn’t in alphabetical order with wollfy’s other fic on this list, but I’m doing that intentionally, because if you want a happy ending for the previous nuclear angst bomb, I recommend head-canoning this as your ultimate resolution, where Lucifer & Chloe are reunited, and everything is gooey and perfect and the world is puppies and kittens. I live to see tipsy Lucifer & Chloe at Lux through the perspective of their friends/found-family. I hope we get something like this in S4.

The Trouble with Brittanies by @theyahwehdance. 500 words. A hysterical little ficlet in which Lucifer calls Chloe and asks for help with the Brittanies. I saw this ficlet evolve from a live discussion that made me laugh so hard my belly hurt. I mean, it’s an honest misunderstanding ….

favorite character: lucifer!!! i ADORE him. maze is a very very close second though

least favorite character: the goddess and pierce are tied for “would punch irl even though i would die” ♥️

5 favorite ships: deckerstar (if the 70k fic didn’t give that away), chlaze, lucifer x eve (they had some good scenes even if long term would NOT work), mazifer, and douchifer. yes i love lucifer morningstar a lot why do you ask

character i find most attractive: maze but lucifer gives me comphet so take that as you will

character i would marry: MAZE!! MY LOVE!! i am not cool enough for her but i long to give her unconditional support

character i would be best friends with: ella, no contest.

a random thought: the only real problems i have with (post-s1) story, minor as they are, are pacing. fix the pacing of s3 and it’s literally incredible

unpopular opinion: s3 is good it just should have been paced differently...s3a about the sinnerman drama and s3b about pierce, lets the tension build, has the cain reveal be genuinely dramatic, cut unnecessary filler...yeehaw

canon otp: DECKERSTAR. i would die for them

non-canon otp: CHLAZE! i WILL die for them

most badass character: chloe shooting michael made me ascend so even tho there are literal angels and demons it’s her

pairing i am not a fan of: i mean no one likes chloe/pierce but that fndndn. i also am not really into lucifer/ella but theres nothing WRONG with it, to each their own

character i feel the writers screwed up: while i DO feel like maze’s motivations in s5a make sense, they didn’t pace it right so it felt like they were just rehashing her betrayal plot AGAIN rather than her being desperate for a soul and willing to do anything for it. like i said above: Pacing

favorite friendship: maze & ella is SUCH a good dynamic whether romantic or platonic

character i want to adopt or be adopted by: trixie and charlie are both fine but i would LOVE to be the babysitter for either. you get to the job and expect to get paid like $20 but you make $300, discover god is real, and probably make friends with ella!

Here be spoilers!

My jumbled thoughts on season 4 and the differences now that we’re on Netflix.

Alright, I’m somewhat back to the land of the living after binging season 4 two times. I have never been this emotionally drained after watching a show/movie. So much PAIN.

Things I loved and other thoughts:

- That opening song! I never liked that song but this version I adored!! Those lessons are paying off, Tom flippin nailed the high notes.

- The focus being on the characters instead of the case. This season makes it very clear how much fox pushed for this being a pure procedural. I mean we knew that the lucifer team had to fight for every scene that had nothing to do with the case of the day, but look just HOW MUCH! Most of the time during s4 I even forgot there was a case going on, and most importantly, the case’s sole purpose were to enrich and advance the character’s own storyline. It felt organic instead of forced.

- The costumes. They all looked so bloody good this season.

- The fight scenes were out of this world!!

- More supernatural stuff!! For once Lucifer was allowed to show he is more than human! He has more freedom because Chloe knows now, yes, but he was never allowed to show his strength before at all, except for the occasional door-handle crushing or chain ripping. That car scene was everything! Let him be a BAMF every once in a while, he’s the rebel angel!!

And Demons! More of that please! Love the zombie-esque way they handled the possession business.

Also Lucifer starting that boat cracked me up. Of course, he can turn everything on. 😂

- Things like racism, police-violence and mental issues being acknowledged and taken seriously.

- The way the triangle was handled. After the Pierce fiasco I was very, very worried about this being another generic love triangle. Honestly it wasn’t even a love triangle in my eyes this time, because it was painfully clear the whole season there’s only one Lucifer loves. It was more about him being torn apart by what Chloe and Eve represent, and that was brilliant.

The women didn’t “fight” over the guy. All of the involved characters learned from it, and it didn’t end with Lucifer “choosing” either side of him, but with him realizing that he wants to be HIMSELF. That he shouldn’t have to choose a side and change for others.

- Deckerstar! THAT AXE-SCENE!! That was intense and charged and holy carp, all I can think of is: if she had wanted to push that axe down, he would have let her, wouldn’t he? He is vulnerable around her, and every time he chooses to be around her he puts his eternal life in her hands, and Chloe finally knows that. Ahhh! There were so many amazing scenes between them. Both their hearts got ripped wide open again and again, and it brought them closer than ever.

I also love how they keep playing with the fact that he’s vulnerable around her (the bar fight, him flinching when he slips with the knife before realizing Chloe is not there etc). Crying about the ending scene later.

- Chloe babe!! She’s back in the game! Lauren killed it this season, she was finally allowed to shine. Her post-reveal journey to acceptance was handled perfectly (I know many liked to believe she’s gonna accept and love him for what he is like two seconds after seeing his face, but that’s the stuff of fanfics).

I don’t wanna see anyone shitting on her because of what she almost did! Her whole world was turned upside down and she was manipulated in that vulnerable time, if you wanna shit on anyone, shit on Kinley. I’m so proud of her breaking out of that and realizing Lucifer ‘is who he is’, after all. The most important thing is that she didn't do it, in the end. And maybe that wine glass breaking was a bit of divine intervention, because the music being loud enough to break it alone would mean she’s at the very least deaf now. (don’t overthink it, I know) just rewatched the scene and saw she actually topples the glass over so nevermind.

- Lucifer finally found his brain again. I was getting tired of him getting more and more stupid and regressing for no reason. Also that dark velvety edge is back in his voice.. my voice-kinky ass is very happy with that, since his voice somehow got higher and higher with each season lmao. Oh and that scene at the end of 4x08 in Lindas office. Holy shit, guys. Tom ripped out my heart, trampled on it and threw it into the trash. The growth in the last few episodes!! And how is no one talking about the voices-in-his-head bit?

- My devil kink has been fed very well. Phew. Perfect eye-flashing moments, and use of distorted voice.

- STEP-SATAN HAS RISEN. Seriously that was awesome and cute. And finally some acknowledgement that he DOES love that little urchin too.

- Dan. Some of those scenes were painful to watch for my Douchifer heart. I hope he is the next to get into the Know… I don’t see any other way for him to change his opinion on Lucifer again any time soon.

- That whole Baby plot line? I usually hate baby plot lines with a passion, but this one wasn’t so bad. 'Aminidiel’ still cracks me up though. Still, my least favorite part of the season I think. Not a fan of Remiel either. That felt a bit wasted, probably because of time reasons.

- Eve. I was skeptical because there was way too much focus on her in the promos, but she is super cute. She also tackled some fe/minist themes that I believe has a lot of potential for the future. I hope she comes back next season, Mazeve all the way!

- Michael and Lilith hinted!! Very interested in the tension I smelled between Amenadiel and Michael, and more of Maze exploring the feelings for her mother please.

- The humor. It’s a bit darker, but still like we know and love it from past seasons. I’m still giggling over the “he got tired” pun. Heh.

- I am now more convinced than ever that at least one of the writers is very familiar with fanfiction, because some of that stuff was grade A fanfic material. Hell, some of the stuff WAS almost straight out of fanfics I read, and that I had never imagined to see on screen! I love it!

- The CGI was.. nice actually. At least the devil bits. So crispy. The wings were consistent this time and pretty good too. I’ve always been proud of this show going the full on CGI way instead of the lazy/cheap supernatural-way, as I like to call it (no offense, I loved that show back in the day), so I’m not complaining about weird wings and stiff movements too much anymore. I don’t expect Legion level wing fights ( https://youtu.be/Mp6aKCE3jSc ) but I do wish they would make the feathers look a bit less looking like.. plastic. A bit less feather-duster, at least - a proper look at real wing anatomy wouldn’t hurt. Ok I shut up about that now, I promised

- Tom Ellis’ new devil-bod. Thanks Netflix. But they didn’t overdo the nudity either, it was just right.

- Sex positivity! Open relationship! Bi! Yes! Just disappointed Lucifer still didn’t get to snog a willing man properly. What’s the hold-up? Once again only women kissing other women on screen. Not that I’m complaining about Mazeve or that Eve/Ella kiss. Damn, Ladies.

- THE ENDING. OH MY GOODNESS, THE ENDING. Final episodes of Lucifer have the tendency to build up and up and up until you think this scene HAS to be the climax of the episode, but it’s NOT. Because there’s always one more scene that punches you in the feelings until the end (and you know it’s gonna happen when a way too amazing song starts playing). And boy, did they deliver again.

I knew Lucifer is going to say something stupid the very moment I saw his face at the beginning of the scene. I could fangirl over Tom’s incredibly expressive face and eyes all day long, but I’ll spare you. I just KNEW, you know. Lauren killed it again, I felt every bit of pain and despair from both of them. I have never been/will probably never be in love in my life, but I imagine what I felt during that scene is somewhat what love feels like. It hurt, man.

A bit of angsty goodbye love-making would have had the perfect timing here and made it all the more bittersweet, but we can’t have it all.

Earlier I had the thought that Chloe probably feels guilty about conspiring with Kinley… would be cool if they used that next season when she’s going to drag his devilfriend out of hell. Also very much looking forward to some Hades + Persephone vibes - because it would be stupid to drive them apart again.

All in all I think the cancellation really was the best thing that happened to this show. I believe it would have only gone downhill on fox with the amount of episodes and all the restrictions and hiatus. Iirc, the cast themselves said they always felt like the ugly duckling there with how the show was treated. On netflix we finally have promo, freedom and a storyline how the writers imagine it. I’m so proud of this fandom, and I can now safely say that the month with barely any sleep was worth it (even though it made me kinda addicted to twitter, damnit).

I hope netflix doesn’t wait too long with the renewal - while I have no doubts we’ll get s5, I still hate this in-limbo feeling lmao.

who reaches out to new neighbors

a lot of the time, it’s lucifer. he’s a) incredibly sociable, b) nosy and c) faster than the other two, and demons are incredibly territorial, so if there’s someone new in the neighbourhood he wants to investigate immediately. he’s very friendly, but he flirts with the neighbours, or tries to make deals with them, or turns up with Fun MuffinsTM, so he’s a bit of a menace. chloe is pretty savvy and if she’s around she can usually grab him before he makes a break for the door, otherwise she and dan end up making the Lucifer Apology Tour.

who remembers to buy healthy food

chloe and dan are both pretty responsible about this; they’re parents and have to feed trixie. dan is more inclined to be a health nut, because he’s very into staying in shape and eating healthy is a big part of his lifestyle. they both like to (get trixie to) try new foods, but neither of them have a lot of free time, so even their healthy meals tend to be chosen for being quick and easy to prepare. lucifer doesn’t shop for himself - he has a fancy grocery delivery service for that - but he also eats out a lot at various expensive restaurants whose owners owe him favours, so he doesn’t need to “shop” often. when chloe and dan stay over it’s always a toss-up whether his fridge will be fully stocked or empty except for wine, whip cream and strawberries.

who remembers to buy junk food

lucifer, ably assisted by trixie. he’s a decent stepdevil, but he thinks showering your kid with money is good parenting. he snacks a lot as it is, bc supernatural metabolism + celestial young adult = constantly hungry, and trixie knows that if she says she’s hungry or suggests something new for him to try, he’ll take her to the store for a snack raid. he’s got a big sweet tooth and never says no to desserts and unhealthy junk.

who fixes the oven when it breaks

dan. chloe can do basic DIY - put up a shelf, change a fuse - but fixing the oven is a bit beyond her. lucifer is useless; he doesn’t repair things at all, he throws them out and buys a new one. he does very much enjoy watching dan when he’s sweaty and a bit dirty and wearing a tool belt, though, so he hangs around and leers and makes unhelpful suggestive comments while dan is working.

who waters the plants/feeds their pet(s)

lucifer is banned from looking after anything that can’t speak for itself for the foreseeable ever. he’s allowed to watch trixie occasionally, because trixie can and will remind him to feed her/take her to school/etc, but he’s too selfish to watch something that isn’t at least semi-independent. if they had a pet dan would look after it for the most part, and chloe is the only one who has any plants - she keeps a couple succulents, including the one on her desk at the precinct that lucifer doused with scotch that one time.

who wakes up earlier

dan usually wakes up earliest; he goes to the gym to work out before heading to the precinct for 9. during the week, chloe wakes up next, because years of being a parent and doing the school run has made early mornings a habit, but at the weekends she’s happy to sleep in. lucifer is very much a night owl, and does not do early mornings. he doesn’t have to be at the precinct as early as the other two, since he’s a civilian consultant and not a detective, so he has a bit more leeway to stay in bed and doze. he does try very hard to get them to stay and cuddle with him though. sleepy lucifer is a snuggler.

who makes the bed

lucifer is the only one who really cares about bed tidiness. dan doesn’t bother making it at all. chloe will straighten the comforter if she’s not in too much of a rush, but lucifer fluffs pillows and does hospital corners on the sheets and is just generally fastidious and overly tidy.

who makes the coffee

lucifer. when he first started working with chloe, he realised he could offer to do a coffee run as an excuse to get out of doing paperwork. his memory’s on the scary side of eidetic, so he remembers all the hot beverage preferences for their entire department, and he’s loaded, so he always goes to the fancy, ridiculously overpriced coffee shop no one else can afford and usually comes back with donuts. eventually it just becomes a habit.

who burns breakfast

chloe is a decent cook as long as the dish is simple and doesn’t take long to make, but she’ll put something on to boil and then get distracted by whatever case she’s working on and completely forget about whatever’s on the stove until it boils over or the fire alarm goes off and she has to go rescue it. dan is a pretty good cook, but he doesn’t hold a candle to lucifer, so normally luci will make the dinner and chloe and dan will alternate washing up and putting things away. drying the dishes is trixie’s job.

how do they let each other know they’re leaving the house

dan shouts bye from the door once he’s got his jacket and shoes on; chloe usually shouts bye back and lucifer’s normal response is “don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” chloe gives cheek kisses before she leaves the house, and reminds whoever’s looking after trixie to do whatever they need to do for her that day (lucifer because he needs reminding, and dan out of habit even though he’s a perfectly capable caregiver). lucifer usually wants a hug before he goes out, mostly because having people who are willing to give him that kind of affection is still a big novelty and he’s living for it.

how do they greet each other when one of them gets home

dan and chloe have lived together before, for years, so usually they just come in, toss their keys on the side and call out “hey”. living with other people is still new to lucifer, though, so he gets very excited when someone comes home; it’s an opportunity to get kisses and cuddles. when it’s him coming home, usually he just bursts in already talking about something that happened to him while he was gone, sometimes mid-sentence.

who brings home little gifts like flowers/chocolates more often

lucifer is the classically romantic one. he’s always picking up takeout from dan’s favourite vietnamese place or bringing chloe lemon bars or surprising them with a candlelit dinner on the penthouse balcony. neither of them really expected him to be the romantic type, but it makes a lot more sense once they realise that most of his knowledge about human courting practices comes from movies and TV.

who picks the movie for movie night

if trixie is with them, she usually picks; otherwise, they take turns. this was implemented because chloe kept getting outnumbered - the boys both like action films like body bags and the weaponizer with plenty of nudity, explosions and unrealistic fight scenes. chloe’s not really a fan.

their favorite kind of movie to watch

chloe likes comedies and dan likes action films. lucifer’s favourites are also action films, but he usually picks a horror for movie night. not because he has a particular fondness for scary movies, but because chloe will end up pressed into his side and he loves that of all the strange, comfort-seeking behaviours humans have, she cuddles up with the devil. he’s used to people being terrified of him. being seen as a protector is new and thrilling.

who first suggests a pillow fort

technically it’s trixie, and she’s horrified that lucifer’s parents never taught him to make one. he hates missing out on shit so he brings it up on date night cause he wants to see what the big deal is.

who builds the pillow fort

dan is in charge of actually building the pillow fort, and chloe is in charge of furnishing it with plenty of blankets and cushions and soft cuddly things. lucifer lounges on the couch and “directs”, which is what he claims he did when the demons were building his palace in hell. once the chloe and dan have finished building the damn thing, they then fuck him in it, which is very pleasant if not the original intended purpose.

who tries to distract the other during the movie

10000% lucifer. he lasts all of five minutes before he’s trying to undress someone. it’s always risky taking him to the movies because he’ll inevitably want to make out/give head/get head in the back row. chloe is surprisingly easily corrupted and makes a game out of how long she can edge him for; if he makes it to the end of the movie, he gets a reward.

who falls asleep first

unexpectedly, it’s lucifer. he’s just spent six months (for dan and chloe)/thousands of years (by his count) in hell, with nobody to watch his back. he hasn’t had a good night’s sleep for a very, very long time; he’s been constantly watching his back, heading off rebellions and assassination attempts and game of thrones-level political bullshittery. with chloe and dan, he’s safe. he can get his head down and sleep knowing that at least one of the three of them will wake up if there’s danger. also between them they fuck him till he’s ready to pass out so yeah, he crashes first

who is big spoon/little spoon

dan is very much a big spoon, which suits the other two just fine. lucifer will be the big spoon for chloe, because he knows she likes cuddling into him, but he’s a little spoon at heart. he loves being held. he likes tucking his head under dan’s jaw and dozing off to dan’s fingertips stroking his back. chloe will also switch, because she loves how soft and affectionate lucifer is when she’s cuddling him, but she prefers being the little spoon.

Hi there! Beyond avoiding the squicks I listed … surprise me! That’s why I tried to give you three songs with three very different moods. So you can write whatever inspires you!

P.S. This is by NO MEANS a list of requirements or expectations, but if you’re looking for some additional inspiration/guidance from me:

My favorite tropes to float my boat are: hurt/comfort (particularly centered around the many delicious forms of hurt!Lucifer: injured, distressed, depressed, sick, etc.), emotional intimacy, BAMF!Lucifer, wing!fic but NOT wing!kink, supernatural shenanigans and world building, teamwork, fish out of water fun, huddling for warmth, emotional shower confessions/breakdowns, there was only ONE bed, and two characters getting trapped together somewhere and having to work out their shit.

And while I love Deckerstar, I’m happy to (and often do) read fics about other ships, too. I don’t mind genfic or ensemble pieces, either, and I’m cool with well-drawn OCs. When I’m out in the wilds of Ao3 trying to pick a fanfic to read, if I’m stepping away from Deckerstar, I tend to gravitate toward Lucifer & Dan, Lucifer & Trixie, or Lucifer & Ella, but I’ll read just about anything that’s got Lucifer in it somewhere, slashfic included (yes, Douchifer, and, yes, even Piercifer in the right circumstances). I also love Tribe stuff, and Linda performing her magical therapy hoodoo with various characters.

So, hopefully that gives you plenty to work with, but again, you could write all of these things or none of them, and I’m sure it’ll still be great. Seriously.
