Ramblings of a madman underneath-

-So, originally- just going to make sun- since I drew him in the little comic I made a while back, but then I decided , why not make a moon too

because-

you know-

no sun is complete without their Moon /silly

So rambling rambling rambling time, info dumping mmm

Wanted to distinct them with their own names-

Esmeray! (or just Ray) -(Sun)

Sulien! (or just sully/sul) -(Moon)

Esmeray means dark moon and Sulien means sun born c:

Sometimes I'll forget so if a say sun and moon at some point it translates to Ray or Sul-

-So the same logic as last time applies,

the lighter size of their face and body is damaged/very sensitive, so the eye that's on the lighter side of their face is very very foggy so essentially, they're blind on that side of the face, soooo half blind. Often causing them to bump into fish or other random things in their enclosure sometimes.

-Usually you only see ONE at a time, but NEVER BOTH.

Often leading visitors to assume that there is only one clownfish in the enclosure that transforms or something when it's night, but really, when it's daytime Esmeray is out y'knoww, entertaining, doing tricks, swimming around while Sulien sleeps and when it's night time, Esmeray sleeps and then Sulien is entertaining, or just glowing around, looking pretty.

You never see them both out at the same time, rarely.

Really unless it's something important or it's something special.

Sometimes they'll both cuddle together in their little cove..🥺 on their sea anemone bed

usually in the late evenings 4-5pm before Sulien gets to go out and roam for the night.

(ray can't fall asleep comfortably, without being close to his brother [happening since they were young] so sulien snuggles with ray until ray falls asleep)

-as I said before- later on down the line, when y/n begins working at a janitor at the exotic fish aquarium, our lil fishy frens kinda gets the memo after a while and starts to draw on a little area of sand that's infront of the glass to communicate and y/n started fogging the glass and writing on it to communicate, Ray (sun) doesn't understand words so they both do little drawings instead.

No one really knows where he learnt it from- but Sulien (moon) knows a bit of English, only a few simple words (hello,bye, mad, you, me, us, angry, food, help, feel,etc.) he also uses the sand.

Performance wise, esmeray does lil heart water bubbles, (or really just any shape, kinda like how clowns do balloon animals and other items) it's something he usually does for visitors, kids mostly. He'll wave, bow, press his face against the glass to be funny, do silly faces that makes the kids laugh, even some regulars that really want to become marine biologist, etc. that often visit the aquarium on weekends that he's very very fond of. He does loads of shows and tricks for people when they walk up to his case, very very active lil fella

the clown fish must perform!! :]

Sulien on the other hand, usually comes out when it's night time, so it's quite rare to see him considering he's mostly active during practically closing time- up until opening hours.

When people do have the rare chance of seeing him at the front of one side of their enclosure, he's not really that active in terms of show BUT he will put on a very pretty light show.

It's absolutely mesmerizing.

Those who get to stay and finish watching it atleast-

The guards are pretty avid on getting everyone out of the aquarium at the designated time.

He also sings sometimes, which is extremely extremely rare-

Guards working there for years have probably only ever heard it twice-

It's been a minute. This one got long.

I largely haven't been doing any fandom stuff other than VP because my work schedule has been insane the past two months. And the only reason I have VP to post is because I'm generous about snapping pics and the vast majority of photos y'all are seeing are ones I took back in March/April/May.

Things at work are starting to be slightly less hectic though, so hopefully I can get back into the swing of things. I'm trying to be gentle with myself about the time and energy I do have but it's been frustrating wanting to do things and not having the beans to do them. Spending most of my workdays outside for extended periods of time means I'm bone tired when I get home. And then I have more work to do outside...

Gardening

My garden is gonna be very scraggly looking for the rest of the year, but if I can keep it alive, in theory, the plants should come back bigger and bolder next year. Shortgrass prairie plants spend the bulk of their first few growing seasons establishing their root systems since water is often in short supply, so the tops of the plants are very unimpressive rn. Most of them probably won't get much bigger than this or even flower this year.

I've gotten a good chunk of the plants in the ground, have irrigation lines going to all of them, and did the lil concrete paver patio. I still need to finish planting the plants that have been languishing in their pots for over a month, bury the irrigation lines, and do a bunch of other random things, but we're getting there. Not planning on covering the bare dirt with mulch because I'm doing fall and spring seeding and I want the plants to self-sow. Going for wild pocket prairie and I'm gonna let it go absolutely feral. I'd eventually like to get rid of the river rocks too but baby steps.

What's really funny is all my native plants seem to be doing reasonable well. My vegetable garden on the other hand... It's sad. I know where I fucked up though (I should not have done that soil experiment lol and attack of the cutworm catepillars), so I'll just have to cut my loses this year and reevaluate for next. The worm composter is doing good though 🪱

Drawing

Attempting to get back into drawing. Again, it's been slow. Have been doodling some mutual's CP2077 OCs when I have the time and still have a ways to get through my list. I'm surprised by how much fan art of Grandpa I've received so I figured I'd return the favor for some folks. It's always a pleasant surprise getting some lovely art in your inbox. Probably won't be coloring most of these from here on out. I have a love hate relationship with coloring. Sorry, I just find lines more interesting. All of these were done with dip pen, ink, and watercolor.

I've got another more formal piece I need to work on as well and get done by the end of the month. Keep forgetting to do the layout sketches...

Writing

The slowest of them all. Been working on the same damn short fic (No. 1 of Les Preludes) and then brainstorming for about fifty other projects that are waiting their turn in line. Plus, I'm still trying to read too. But when I can only manage a chapter of a fic about every two weeks...

Most of my writing efforts have been bopping into my drafts now and then and pecking out a sentence or two. However, I did manage to spend 45 minutes detangling a section of about 200 words 🐢:

AITA of I want art trades to be of equal time/quality?

this is a weird one but I had a spat with someone recently because they wanted to do an art trade, which i was open to do, but we hit a weird impasse. When I do art trades I like to put forth as much effort as my trade partner puts forward first, and would prefer that if i put art first that my partner reciprocates the same amount of time and care.

Art style, quality, experience, follower count means nothing to me in the exchange, just the level of effort. It feels unfair to me that I would put in hours/days of work on a painting to only receive something done in less than a few hours, especially since that would basically be doing a free commission. I'm willing to give smaller/newer artists with less experience or cheaper software more effort in my half on the account that I trust they're doing their best with what they have. It's meant to be fun!

This is not an instance of that. I've checked this artist's gallery and they were perfectly capable of producing extensively detailed pieces, so I agreed to do a more detailed piece, as long as they do the same.

This is where things get weird. They were perfectly fine with me doing something bigger and were very excited, and I brought up that in my listed art trade rules, I'd like them to do the same. They agreed, and we both went to work. I'm a slow artist, so it's been taking me some time, and I'm well into working on colors and rendering. in the middle of this time is when I get my half. it's just lineart with some shading. it was very beautiful, and I'm grateful! but it's not necessarily a level of detail that we agreed on. So I kiss my flat colors and rendering goodbye and just quickly rendered the lineart to match.

They get excited and ask when the final of my half will be done. Confused, now assuming what they provided was just a WIP, I say when they finish theirs. They go "oh but this IS my final :)" and I am... still very confused.

I brought up our agreement to do equal effort and they go "but I did that, this took me a long time" to which I point out I've been working for a few days now to produce a fully rendered painting, which wasn't even finished by the time they posted theirs.

They start getting defensive saying that exertion of effort varies from person to person which I fully agree as a chronically fatigued person! but I still feel really scammed that I'm putting in all this work and they can only provide what their commission form claims is a "colored sketch" (and on the cheaper end too.)

They keep getting weird and defensive and I decide to just call the whole thing off, giving them the art I did and that it was final. They get pissy and call me an entitled asshole for wanting to "break their back" over a free art trade.

I would be perfectly happy getting a rendered sketch, if that were what we agreed on in the first place!

I don't think I'm the asshole here, but being called "entitled" really got to me, especially considering we WERE doing work for free. So here I am. Am I the asshole for wanting equal parts effort? Or am I just being entitled? I'd share the art pieces we did here but I won't out of privacy for both me and the other artist.

Sorry for taking 8832 years to answer this, life has kept me a bit busy the past few weeks (and the heatwaves, satan, please end this summer suffering)!

There are a quite few things I have planned!

2-3 ghoul(ette) paintings that will hopefully turn out cool!

I made a bunch of sketches that might turn into paintings, some smutty, some suggestive, some a bit emotional, some funny

I want to do some nice watercolour portraits of all the papas; possibly some without their paints, too to practice painting faces, but ALSO make more detailed portrait drawings again

Risunskys massive Goya project also inspired me to try something big, too. but that is still in early planning stages and I'm Scared(tm), so we'll see. Hopefully once I've found an apartment, a new job and have more time and space to work!

I also have a finished secondo painting with watercolours/ink finished since earlier this year that i forgot to upload despite actually mostly liking it, that'll come soon, heh! And you'll see a SUPER fun commission at some point that I finished after 287 months

Have these 2 for now - the second one I'd love to paint sooner or later, but who knows when there'll be time and inspiration. I think I'll do a few sketch dumps over the next couple of days/weeks

4. How many WIPs do you have right now?

actually shockingly few! ever since i finished my big owl house editing pass back in june i've not done a whole lot in terms of projects...and recently i've been playing rain world so instead of writing im playing rain world like 24/7. currently my only main project is the dess raises kris au, and in that 'verse the only thing i'm writing right now is a dess/chara relationship study. i WOULD finish it, but, uh. rain world. (<- guy who is trying so hard not to write rain world fic. i probably wont but also i am always tormented by ideas. but consider i have to tell the story of my slugpup scooter SCOOTER I WONT EVER FORGET YOU--)

5. What's a fic idea you've had that you will never write?

probably countless that i do not remember right now! but digging around through my drafts, i've got a few deltarune daemon aus that won't ever see the light of day...one of them was a fangame where the player played as one of kris's two daemons, and the other was a fic where ralsei was kris's daemon. the ideas from there have basically been repurposed elsewhere--a lot of my kris&ralsei stuff went into various works, and the fangame stuff is being reworked into the dess raises kris au.

beyond that, in terms of things that are actually abandoned and won't be used elsewhere, there are so many daemon aus that i've left behind for one reason or another, though the gravity falls transcendence au is the one that i think was the best...that one postcanon his dark materials fic i was gonna write where lyra and pan return to will's world and cause general shenanigans there with him and kirjava...a vera-centric son of sea foam wings of fire au because vera is the love of my life and i was rereading wings of fire bc i felt nostalgic....oh my god fantasy high SOPHOMORE YEAR FIC, which i tried to start TWICE, once from fig's pov and once from ayda's that was their road trip back home and i have some very funny snippets from...MY INFINITY TRAIN DAEMON AU WAIT THAT ONE STILL GOES SO HARD ACTUALLY. okay drop everything ive ever said the fact that i never wrote my infinity train book two daemon au is a travesty. i was cooking with that one.

11. Do you have specific playlists for writing fics?

sort of! i usually always have at least one or two songs i connect to any given fic, but in terms of what i listen to when actually WRITING, it's changed over the years. i used to put on compilations of video game music--usually utdr, pmd, and then just whatever got recommended to me lol--then i did like. those character playlists people make on youtube? mostly bc they tended to pull from the same pool of songs so it became good background noise lol. now i use the youtube mix or whatever its called for a similar reason--it tends to play the same handful of songs ive listened to a lot, so they dont distract me.

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?

oh i LOVE this question, and it would be without a doubt my nimona daemon au oh, are you at all like me. nimona itself is obviously both a comic and a movie, and i'd say animated film since the fic follows the movie plot more--i think there'd be a LOT of really cool scenes you could get with that fic. i also think i could make killer animatics based on my fics if i could draw good enough <3 and thats not a joke i have scripts and sketch storyboards and everything. maybe one day i'll finish one of those.

2023 art review!

Even if this year wasn't the biggest on art, due to my physical condition (especially in last couple of months), it would still be nice to look back on what i did as an artist throughout it!

This is gonna be a fun ride...

So, let's dive straight into it, shall we?

Continuation under the cut

January

2023 started on a high note, with me just having finished the King piece, and moving on to the next big thing, being an AvA3/5 double piece.

Sadly, during the process i messed up big time which led to me being unable to finish the piece the way i wanted to, rendering this project an eternal WIP. However, i still cherish the idea and do wish to either redraw, or complete it.

February

Doing 2 big projects one after another did end up affecting my overall drive, so i spent majority of that month just making sketches.

First one is a little redraw/redesign of my old character - Derek, whom i used for a roleplay with my friends like 3 or 4 years ago, and second one is Deach, a character from my fantasy setting.

Also, back then i joined a new fandom, people in which have reminded me of my admiration for SCP, after which me and my friends proceeded to make OCs for it. Was a fun time! (Also this access card was sold by me as a YCH, sadly i couldn't really find buyers, so yikes)

March

By march is slowly started recovering from january's disappointement and was a bit more productive already. One of my friends really helped with it too.

A musician friend of mine reached out to me, asking to develop a design for a villain character in the plot he was working on. After listening to the theme song i couldn't resist. This ended up being one of my favorite designs so far, and i adore its look in neon.

In the meantime, i kept working on my fantasy setting, refining more minor details of designs and stories, yet having to reserve only to making sketches as i was too busy with college and other projects. Characters you see on screen are Ian and Lanfor respectfully. One is a strong yet troubled mage and other is a great Emperor, and even better person.

April

I'd say april was one of the most productive months of this year, mostly because i managed to snatch some time for myself and my setting, which allowed me to complete two full pieces and achieve some extreme progress with my story.

This piece is an illustration to a scene i wrote for two of the characters, Lanfor and Emile, called "Night Visitor". This was a scene of a reunion of two old friends. A bittersweet, yet a lovely work. Love both the written one as well as the illustration.

This one was more of a... Proof of concept. Needed to test out the expresiveness of the design for one or a relatively new characters - Covlar. Was originally a simple sketch on paper, but i couldn't resist the urge of making it into a complete illustration. I then proceeded to make a few notes for this scene. Both want to write it properly and avoid it at all cost... Best to avoid it, for my own sanity.

May

May was a bit of trainwreck, because i got a brand new laptop, which took me quite some time to get used to and even more time to reassure myself that it is in fact alright for me to draw on this suspicioiusly thin piece of tech.

Ironically enough, the only vomplete piece i drew that month was drawn on my old laptop. This screenshot redraw was to made to honour the premiere of AvA6 ep.1. Sadly, i did it a bit late because fo technical issues, but i still had a ton of fun doing it.

June

June was... Chaotic, to say the least. Mostly because i finally got comfortable with the new laptop and could now draw a lot more freely due to it being a lot more compact than the original one, which worked almost like a PC. Besides, i got a ton more free time because semester finals ended up being a breeze.

Ended up making a ton sketches and doodles, that i didn't actually plan to finish, but still enjoyed a ton. Here are some of them

Then, ofc, the memes and the gand redesign, because AvA6 just had to break all of my portrayals. But, i mean, after AvM s3 my original designs did become a bit dated.

The biggest pride and saddest of failures was this picnic piece, however. I still plan on finishing it, but it is hard doing so, when i have changed quite a bit of my artstyle by now.

July

July was quite lazy. Semester ended and i spent that entire month out of the city. It was a great time, very peaceul indeed.

And again, that musician friend from before came into clutch, asking me to develop another design for his other project. And again a villain. He said he really liked how i draw bastard type of characters.

August

Well this is where fun began. End of summer break means i have just this much time to actually draw something i would never have time to draw normally.

For me to draw something to commemorate a new episode is almost like a tradition at this point. And, given how long it's been since i made anything that would require effort, no wonder i have chosen arguably the most complex piece to pull off energy-wise. Yet i did and now i simply adore this piece, even if it did render me disabled. (I crunched through all of this piece, pulling off 40+ hours of work in just 4 days, so naturaly it ended up worsening my condition by a lot)

Then i also proceeded to do all of these tiny side projects, like Victim ask, which i couldn't last long at due to my condition, and working on a design for my favourite streamer. (Which i cannot show as the work is not complete an it's best if i avoid spoilers)

September and October

These two months i spent being unable to draw at all via a doctor's advice. Arguably, these two were the hardest months for me to handle.

I assume you can imagine how hard it is to suddenly stop being able to do what you love, regardless of how much you wish to do it.

Novemer

*Nervous laughter* I... actually still wasn't allowed to use my hand, but that didn't stop me and i ended up making an entire series of sketches to celebrate AvA6 ep2.

I will admit, i still adore all of these sketches and each of them deserves to become a fully fledged piece in it's own right, but i really better keep them as they are. For my own safety.

December

As you way have expected, this month will stay without a single thing from me. It's not because i don't want to, but because i can't. And, given the circumstance, it better stay that way.

Afterword

I finally got my diagnosis and soon enough i will start active treatment for my condition. It would be a shame to make this worse than it already is with impulses like those that happened in november, so i am making this post as a way to draw a line for myself.

It is still kinda crazy to realize that there are quite a few people interested in what i make, so i will make sure to take my recovery as responcible as possible, and then come back to you with even more art in the upcoming year! Let's be positive about it.

Genshin Impact WIP dump!!

I've been super busy with life and commission work, but I have been working on some personal pieces in between! Since it's been a bit since I shared anything, I thought I'd give you a sneak peek to some of the stuff I'm working on!

1. An attempt at doing the aftermath of the Joururi Wokshop on how I pictured it in my head. Going to be a full poster illustration, I think.

2. Some soft Beiguang because I love my wives so very much.

3. An idea for an Ei and Makoto piece that I'm still working on finalizing.

4. An angsty Kaeya and Diluc piece, because come on, I adore them both a lot.

5. Alhaitham because this man grabbed me by the throat and won't let go. 👌

actually ykw i'm gonna make a longer post about this because i know, from experience, that talking about The Struggles makes other people feel seen and that's like. important to me. bc it feels less lonely and isolating to see others experience the same thing even if it Sucks.

under the cut is talks of disability!

in the past few years, i've gotten to become more and more disabled. i can't work anymore (even a desk job or a wfh job), i struggle with doing my hobbies like how i used to (art and writing), my mental health has fluctuated but ultimately gotten worse due to my disabilities, and it's rough! and frustrating! and so annoying!

it sucks. a lot! especially to feel like you've 'lost' things you loved. i draw as often as i can, but because of my chronic pain, i can only work in small bursts - and even then, i end up getting burnt out. not mentally, but physically. i've drawn off and on daily for a few weeks and i've loved it, but!! guess what! my body doesn't. and it sucks! it used to be i could fixate for hours and hours on an art - and afterwards, i'd have every status effect but it wasn't debilitating like it is! now, i can only fixate for an hour tops before the pain breaks my concentration and leaves me stuck resting for a few hours.

therefore, i'll have... like.

so so so many wips open that are only sketches. so many i WANT to finish, but am stuck on because there's just not enough time for me to work on them.

and it's rough. it hurts, literally. but it also is!!!!!!!!!! INFURIATING.

the greatest thing (/s) about disability is that it takes. it takes and takes and takes. it doesn't give you anything in return. disability takes everything from you. it steals so much. so so so so so much. and when i have no energy to do anything i want to do, i at least have the energy to be angry - and even then sometimes it steals that too! it puts in your head how much you're overblowing everything, how it's not THAT bad, how you don't have the Right to be disabled, ect ect ect. so then you feel bad about yourself, feel bad for feeling bad, feel guilt and - ugh.

i'm sure there's more i can rant about, but!!! speaking of it taking from me - my migraine is coming back, and my ability to think, and word, and form coherent thoughts, is being taken from me. so i'll have to leave my upset here and go nurse my poor little pathetic stupid body into being slightly more functional in the morning!!!

do you have any advice for writing long fics/series??? I have so many I've been wanting to write but the last times I've tried I always lost motivation, so now I'm scared to try 😭

Ohhh, been there. Okay, so I've done it two different ways, and odds are high that you've only tried one, so maybe whichever you haven't done before, do the other?

Method 1: Write it all, then post one chapter at a time only once complete. That's how I wrote my early multi-chapter series. I was so worried I'd get bored or stuck and bail before I did what I wanted to do, I made sure all of my chapters were written before I posted anything. If you're addicted to the serotonin of feedback, that's fine, find a writing buddy who will read your WIP so you're still getting some of that spark along the way, but don't put up anything public until you're all done and ready to rock and roll.

Side note: This is also a pretty good way to build a bit of a following on AO3. If you promise people up front that everything IS done and written and it WILL finish and you give them a regular posting schedule—a chapter every Tuesday or whatever—they'll subscribe and happily follow along because there's no risk. Short of you getting hit by a bus or something, I guess.

Method 2: If, however, you've tried the above and that's where you're getting stuck, do the opposite. Maybe sketch out some rough notes to yourself on where you want to end up with the fic, just so you know you're heading in the right direction, but then let go of the need for control a little and post as you go along. That's what I had to do for my two biggest fics because they took literal years. Actual literal years, plural. The fear of leaving things dangling might be more motivating than you realize.

Some things to remember:

It's okay to start small. Like, it's tempting to dive right into a mega-sprawling epic of a fic with 100 chapters or whatever, but it's also okay to... not... do that. Try a fic with a few chapters instead. Build that muscle. Get used to writing beyond oneshots. Pre-built structures like 5+1 might help you build that muscle as well.

Sometimes you just gotta... do it. Like, that sucks, I know, it would be nice if there were an easy trick, believe me. Like, the fic I am procrastinating on is not a long one, but it's kicking my butt and it's so frustrating. But I'm getting it done a literal line at a time—for every ask I answer, I make myself hop over into my doc and write another line. Some nights I'm literally messaging Audrey like "I just want to get one sentence done before bed." And I stack one sentence after another until it's done.

It's okay to procrastinate a little. Emphasis on little. It sounds like you get stuck, procrastinate some, then don't stop procrastinating, but it's okay to give yourself a little break. My two biggest fics spawned so many other fics because I would hop from the chapter I would be working on to my distraction fic... until I needed to be distracted from that fic and then my chapter was the distraction!

It's also okay to combine the above methods. For Nature and Nurture, my first big fic, I used Method 2 allllll the way up to, like, the last three chapters or so. I was so scared of fumbling it all at the end that I switched to Method 1 for the last chunk, made myself write it ALL, and didn't post anything else until it was all written.

The digital ones are WIP shots (part of a little series I like to refer to in my head as "pictures taken moments before disaster." The bottom Constance Fishbroom is finished but I might wait until I have a few more of her fully rendered and coloured before I share the finals.

Anyway, uni just started back up again so I probably won't post much during that time (I say this like I post a lot lmao), but I hope this satisfies you gremlins until then <3

Update Time!

The end of the month is coming up, and I'm here to deliver some updates.

Where am I with the writing?

While I will be finishing my first draft of my book, I will be working primarily on Bloody Bug outside of Overture (the working title for the book). I will hopefully get back to the other AUs, but for the time, I'm enjoying Bloody Bug and just rewriting of canon until I get to the season 2 shit.

Any other changes?

Outside of my focus on writing, I have a few other changes I want to announce for transparency.

So, this comes in terms of the content that I'll be posting here. I will still be posting doodles, Miraculous content, and other shit, but I won't be posting anymore sketches and shit like that.

Furthermore, and I want to really stress this: I will not be accepting requests on this platform.

The reason for this is the migration of those to Patreon. I am in the process of populating my Patreon page and have decided to post my WIPs, story outlines, sketches, etc there and will have the tiers on there for the request options.

That will be another thing. I will still post doodles, writings, and (when I get to that part) designs for the other heroes in Bloody Bug. However, I will also be working on exclusive content that will be only on my Patreon. Figured I'd give a heads up in case any content on here feels like it tanks.

This is largely due to me trying to establish as many different cash flows as I can as the job market is ass. There are jobs available, but getting a job in my field is proving rough. In the past two months, I've had one interview and that was it. So, yeah, trying different options here is all.

In that same vein, commissions are still open. I may be adding a shaded option coming up. Through the creation of some of the exclusive patreon content, I've pinpointed a shading style that I like and feels coherent with my style. So, that may become available.

What's your total ao3 word count? 457K - but again, 32 of my works count twice, some of them three times (those that are both in LWTD and FLH), so the actual number is less. Feels Like Home is 223K words though, so more than that 💀

Hmm, I don't know, maybe Going Through Hell? I think it ends on a hopeful note though. I generally end angst on a hopeful note. Or write plain fluff. I do have a drabble in my drafts that is very angsty and does not end with hope though (Sox can confirm that).

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I don't feel like I've written a fic with an ending yet 💀 I mean, there was Living with the Devil but it technically isn't finished because it continues in Feels Like Home. But Feels Like Home will definitely end happily.

Do you get hate on fics?

Not really, no. I felt rather unpopular when I introduced Eve in Feels Like Home though. And people aren't shy of hating on Eve and Chloe as characters, meanwhile Lucifer is always just a "poor baby" or a "silly man." I've had people comment that they like me and Sox' version of Chloe in Feels Like Home more than they like her on the show, which I guess is supposed to be a compliment? But I don't think I want that kind of compliment from people who think Chloe is a bitch on the show tbh...

Having English as my foreign language 🙃 No, but seriously Not Knowing Words is the most frustrating part of writing for me. And not just not knowing the words, but also not knowing how to string them together.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

Depends on the language. Naturally, I could write as much Danish dialogue in as I'd like, but very, very few would understand it. I could do German too, with a bit of help from a dictionary. And I've watched enough Norwegian and Swedish TV to be able to write dialogue in those as well. I have written Lucifer dirty-talking in French, but I barely wrote any of that myself; a kind soul translated it for me. Generally, I think it's fun to incorporate other languages!

State of the WiPs

Okay, so I realize I'm somewhat notorious for having a thousand projects going on at once. But I took a look, and when it comes to my writing, it's not as bad as it may seem? Anyway, not that there's much interest in this other than my own, I just felt like I'd write about it anyway...

So, out of the 66 works I have on Ao3 - 15 of them are incomplete. That means only a 1/4 of what I've started I haven't finished (yet)... We can break this down into a few categories...

This stuff is so old that I barely remember writing it. I brought it over from another website just for completion sake; so that I could have all my writing in one place. But, no, I'll never be going back to this stuff.

One Week --- this is actually the first fanfic I ever wrote (and published), and, I mean, I could chop off the last chapter and call it complete, as it does come to an ending point if I ever felt the need.

The Old MCU Things ::

Okay, so while I've never really left the MCU fandom, I did kind of stop writing fic for it. And this is really when my unfinished reputation really started to happen, because I did start creating a ton of things and never really went anywhere with them. I do have a half a mind to take them all down, and leave it for if/when I ever feel inspired to come back to it, since most of it is just a bunch of first chapters of things...

Faking It --- the thing about this one is that it's really just a collection of stand alones. There really is no beginning or ending, it's more like a short story collection, left open for possibilities.

The Glee Stuff I Probably Won't Be Touching ::

Black Kitty -- Back in the day, I had this funny idea about a Glee/OMGCheck Please crossover. It was amusing at the time. And should have been maybe a sketch? Out of all my unfinished things, this is my least favorite. I kind of hate it. But every time I threaten to take it down, people yell at me, lol. And yes, I know I could orphan it - but I don't like having my work out there that I no longer have control of. So I'm stuck with this abomination.

The CrossRhodes Saga -- I still have all my notes for this noir piece, and I honestly still love the idea. This is one that I might actually take down and start fresh with because it deserves actual attention. Plus, I think I'm a better writer now than when I first wrote this and would want to rework it.

Changed For the Better -- This was one of those Christmas challenges that, honestly, I hated doing. I don't think it's a bad story, but it never really worked for me. I feel bad that this one literally is half unfinished. Maybe some day I'll there will be a spark there to do something with it, but doubtful.

The Smut Challenge -- *sigh* I mean, part of me almost does want to work on this again, because the thought of having 365 short stories of smut is kind of hilarious to me. But writing this became really tedious after a while. Do you know how hard it is to keep smut interesting? I still have all my notes, so who knows, maybe.

Actual Open Projects

In The City That We Love -- I probably should have not posted this until I was ready to actually focus on it. The nice thing is that this first chapter stands on its own relatively nicely. It was going to be the thing I work on after Head Over Feet is done, but I keep getting distracted by other fandoms, so I'm not sure if and when I'll come back to it. But I still love the idea enough to keep it open.

The Spaces In-Between -- This has been open and barely worked on for years, but I don't think I'll ever really close the door on it. Maybe it'll be nicer when I have more distance and I come at the show feeling fresher about it after not seeing it for quite a while. I guess we'll see.

Head Over Feet -- Yeah, I know. I am dragging my feet on this one. Bless the people actually who've been with me on this one for literal years. I didn't mean for it to take so long, but that year in Indiana really put a damper on me writing anything, and I struggled. But, I will finish this fic. It was a passion project for so long that I couldn't not. I even have the next chapter half written and all organized and ready to go. I just need more time and less distractions :P But please don't give up on this one.

Double Date -- Hey, it's the Bridgerton fic that I'm currently working on! And yes, it's occupying all of my time at the moment. I promised myself that before I started anything new - this was getting done. And I'm holding myself to that.

Things Yet to Come

Believe it or not, there are things I've refrained from publishing. Honestly, I've been trying to keep focus (especially the last few months) and work on one thing at a time.

The X-Men Projects :: So, there are two bigger ideas that I want to do. First, I have nearly a novel length Romy fic that I've detailed outlined and I love. I LOVE this idea so much. I did start to write it (and then totally got distracted by Bridgerton, oops). But I think so I don't fall into the trap of the Marvel stuff, I want to wait to publish it. I think maybe I'll post it when it's done, done, which will be nice for people who are concerned about my track record.

The second idea, though, I have started, but have been smart about it. One-shots! I figure instead of having one story that cover's the whole Romy spectrum, i'd post little one-shots that came to me. And while this feels like a big project to me -- I'm not leaving people hanging, as the one-shots are very much intentionally stand alone moments in time.

The Bridgerton Projects :: Honestly, I have a bunch of them. And while a good handful are one-shots, I promised myself to work on one thing at a time, so not to feel overwhelmed. And I think that's working.

If nothing else... it feels nice to be creative again. And I am writing pretty regularly, which I couldn't say was happening the last couple of years, especially when I was in the dark place that was Indiana, lol.
