We accidentally overfed a dog at work because the directions given by the front desk AND by the owner were deeply unclear and passed down to us incorrectly so we had to call the mom and I'm thinking, like. She's going to be upset that we ran out of her dog's certain special food and even if we give him our wet food for free (obviously) we accidentally wasted what she sent and changing a dog's diet unexpectedly can cause tummy issues. That's an understandable level of upset and I hope we can make it right.

What she ACTUALLY yelled at my coworker about was the fact that NOW she has to take the dog to the VET because he ATE too much and how she "didn't sound very empathetic" (coworker is 21 and was trying desperately not to cry, which sounds pretty empathetic if you don't know it's from abject terror) and then she's like "I looked at the cameras and he seems lethargic!" alright well. You're straight up lying now. He's perfectly happy. He's just also a little round. The worst he's going to do is maybe barf and it'll be over before you pick him up. We'll be the ones cleaning it. He got two days of too much food. And he ate it all. He's literally fine. Maybe stop yelling at folks.

#Nevermind the fact that the word she was looking for was compassionate #This isn't even half of what happened today this is just the absurd and weirdly funny part #Ma'am your tiny living teddy bear is having the time of his life and thinks he hit the jackpot #There were three entire failures along the chain of command BEFORE I was involved in feeding him at all #He's been here since the evening of the 20th he's FINE #Stop treating people like shit maybe #She isn't even a front desk person she got pulled up there to help out after the actual front desk person #Had to take a dog to the vet cuz he got bit real good #(I wasn't kidding today was absolutely fucking nuts)#Dog days of care

the sheer number of incredibly intricate worlds and characters that i have created with people who i am no longer friends with so that i can no longer talk about those characters or use those settings. i only got half the dog in the divorce do you know what i mean

I'm still quite sick so I took today off and promptly slept in till noon and woke up feeling like I hadn't slept at all. Yesterday I could manage comics but today I can't focus on anything but doodling Jake the dog. truly a character design of all time. So long as you get the mouth and eyes approximately right you can do anything. If you fuck it up he just looks possessed or drugged or maybe cursed. as soon as I figure out how to draw a pterodactyl I'm going to make him a pterodactyl. I understand why people were so obsessed with him now. what a good little dude.

Well I had a couple days without my dog getting locked in my roommates room. So much for that

The unfortunate thing about having hypersensitivity to textures is that there are entire swaths of dog breeds I hate on a purely sensory level

#the unfortunate thing in question is that i have liked a lot of dogs that make me shudder inwardly when i pet them #like i love your personality! you're goofy and sweet and fun-loving! however touching you makes me want to die #usually i'm quite objective about my sensitivites. like imo bright overhead lights are OBJECTIVELY torturous #absolutely cannot comprehend why anyone likes them #however when it comes to like. poodle fur. i understand why people like their fur. i just have an instinctual reaction of disgust #exceptionally short-furred dogs like greyhounds and pitbulls are also Bad Textures to me which sucks because i LOVE those dog breeds #i ABSOLUTELY ADORE greyhounds and their related breeds. perfect personality. love their Shapes #which is why im obsessed with long haired sighthounds like windsprites or borzois #perfect dog with none of the bad texture #also they look ethereal and come in many colors which are big upsides to me #and has anyone else noticed? short furred dogs like pitbulls and boxers shed like. almost as much as a husky #not in sheer volume cause their hairs are smaller. i mean in number of hairs shed. absolutely ridiculous amounts of shedding #like what the hell is up with that #my brother has a boxer mix who i adore but she sheds so much i wonder if she has access to pocket dimensions that just spawn fur #like. i've babysat for her and i would give her a good brush every day to try to stop it #and somehow it just KEPT COMING. and she never looks any less fuzzy! WHERE IS IT COMING FROM #back to poodles. the only way i find that kind of fur tolerable is if it's clipped so short theyre almost bald #then i actually find that a very nice texture #an ex of mine had what he called an ''australian labradoodle'' that also had fur like a newly bought teddy bear. that was nice. very plush

imma keep it real with you chief: there ain't no such thing as a "low maintenance pet" or a "starter pet". either be willing to fully commit to taking care of your animals or don't own any

#wak #spice tag #kinda I guess???#but I've been trying to raise brine shrimp as of late #and I've learned that even though they don't require the same level care as a dog or a cat #you have to do a lot more than just put the eggs in and put a pinch of prepackaged Growth Food in every 7 days and call it a day #if you wanna keep them alive they need heat. and a source of oxygen. and a light source. and purified/distilled water. and sea salt #and eventually that prepackaged food is going to run out so you need a sustainable means of providing food for them #and you need a Lot of knowledge on how they function and survive outside of a tank #like.. animals like fish and hamsters and such aren't toys that you play with for a while and then shelve when you get bored #they're just that. animals #and thus are a commitment no matter how small or quiet or out-of-the-way they are #and I'll be real nobody below the age of at least 11 should be investing in sea monkey kits #unless there's an educated adult supervising them every step of the way (and even 11 year olds should have supervision tbh)#but the point is #if you want something that you don't have to feed or play with or choose specific enclosures for or be committed to at all #get a teddy bear or something

I tend to get sensory issues super easily but I’m getting used to his fur! I’m excited for my softer one to come though, he’s a German pointer and my current one is a Bernese mountain dog

That's fair, there's also that sort of issue that can get in the way. The german shorthair pointer looks like a very good plush! It's smooth coated, isn't it? That should be nice to smoothe your hand down its back.

#ironically real life german shorthair pointers' fur isn't that soft #like a lot of dog fur in general isn't all that soft at least on short hair dogs #but I wouldn't describe it as a bad feeling. its not as bad as petting a plushy with rough fur #again that might jyst be my bias/opinion #I do have sensory issues when it comes to texture but not for most furs and plush fabrics #towel-like fabric microfiber velvet and certain sweater materials have really bad hand feels to me #there's also that texture of fur that the timeless teddy by BAB has that I don't like. what is that sherpa?#whatever it is it gives me the ick #I have a timeless teddy tho regardless lol. I got him while hanging out with my friend once #he was one of the only bears I liked the look of at that time. it was either him or that harry potter bear #(who I would have preferred cause he looks and feel nicer but I refuse to give any money to jk rowling and I HAAATE Harry Potter)#but anyways yeah I understand the fur texture being something you can be sensitive to #viti shoosh
