"Kuina's death is ridiculous" yes! That's the point! You do realize that falling down the stairs is a way of showing Zoro how fragile human lives are, right? You are aware that the point of Kuina's character is the unfairness of the world towards women in comparison to the privileges men have, like living in itself and fulfilling their dreams, right? You know that Kuina's death is "ridiculous and dumb" because it's meant to show that even the strongest person Zoro knew could die from something so little, right? You understand that the value Zoro gives to life is fucking immense, right? Right?? You realize Zoro can't seek revenge because nobody took her away from him and now the only thing he can do is become the world's greatest swordsman to avenge her death, right? You get that Zoro's character is an atheist because he doesn't believe in anyone and he can only rely on himself when it comes to Kuina's sudden death, right? You are aware that sometimes people die in the simplest of ways and that doesn't make them weak because death doesn't discriminate, right? You know that all of these things are what make Zoro's character so interesting and important, right? Right??? You know, right?
Well, of course you fucking don't because if you knew you wouldn't be saying her death is ridiculous <3

if so tho.... I genuinely love how if Sanji awakens conquerors haki, that it's gonna be like... a plot point. made obvious. but Zoro used his on punk hazard and then again in dressrosa and it's never even focused on and tbh I think it went over a lot of fans heads too, and then he uses it on onigashima and kaido acknowledges it out loud and zoros like idk wtf u mean and that's as much as we get. I love how Zoro is written like that. like you really gotta watch him or else all his development and progress and individuality etc goes straight over your head. Zoro observes everyone and he's so emotionally intelligent and so aware of changes in ppl... you gotta be like that too, to rlly see Zoro.

AU where everything is the same except the cuadruplets have white hair.
+
I've been reading too much reddit; have a Sanji with lunarian DNA.
This changes nothing in the plot... except perhaps he can dye his hair Ramona style.

This is me calling Law out.

He is purposefully making his moves look sexy as possible, and that's the kind of bullshit we need to be calling out.

Do you think there’s a chance cross guild will create a genuine bound between the members ?
oh man, i really don’t know.
part of my uncertainty is that… i’m pretty sure there’s some history there? not, like, a super significant chunk of backstory or anything, but more than just what we’ve seen on-screen.
idk if mihawk and crocodile knew each other prior to becoming warlords, but they have at least known each other that long
buggy knows crocodile on sight in impel down; he’s either been keeping tabs on the warlords (why?) or he’s met crocodile before (when?)
otoh, buggy identifies mihawk as ‘hawk eyes’ when they meet at marineford, with a hint of uncertainty (kisama “tama no me” da naa~~!!?) that makes me suspect he only knew of mihawk at that point (for shanks reasons? or the previously suggested ‘keeping tabs on warlords’ reasons?)
and then there’s the line-up of reactions to the news coming out about buggy being on roger’s crew:
Tumblr media
…crocodile doesn’t look especially surprised, does he? though i guess this could be a ‘…sure, this might as well happen’ reaction too.
anyway, between that, the way crocodile entices mihawk to come work with him (which i’ve already said i find quite interesting), and the fact that all three were in roguetown the day roger died, i think there must be history between some of the pairs within this trio that we don’t know anything about.
and i think those starting points, whatever they were, have to inform what their current working relationship could become. without that context i don’t feel confident saying a genuine bond will definitely form, or that it’s never gonna happen.

When it comes to ASL, Luffy is perceived as yellow, and when he forms the Straw Hats, he is finally seen as his most characteristic color: Red.
I find this interesting because yellow is considered to be a bright and joyful primary color, bringing happiness and laughter, and is often associated with sunshine and sunflowers. It can be seen as courage, too. However, it can also be associated with cowardice. Luffy's role within the three of them is to be the little sibling. He is, indeed: bright, joyful, sun itself, and a crybaby. He represents cheerfulness and adventure. He's nature and happiness. Yellow is often used to catch your attention. To be persuasive. To be fun and childish. To be warm and optimistic.
Then, Luffy becomes red, when he becomes the captain of his own crew.
Red is a primary color too. It's often used to rule and, exactly like yellow, to catch your attention. It's associated with violence, rage, and fire, things that could be easily translated as strong emotions. But it's also heavily tied to passion and love, and if we know something about Luffy is that he's both passionate and strong, willing to do anything for the ones he loves. It's also mainly used to represent importance and authority. And it has different meanings depending on the country: Happiness, good luck, rage, mourning, communism (which, you know, is easily tied to freedom, equality, and the end of oppression). It's a powerful color.
I don't exactly know what I want to say with all of this. I just find very interesting the change of color depending on the group he is in. But even if he's red, his clothes almost every time have yellow in them. So, yeah, nothing new. Luffy is yellow and red and I love it.

Not to sound too insane or delusional right now BUT...
I was looking at pictures of Roger and my attention got caught by the jolly roger on his hat.
Specifically on the mustache of his jolly roger, and suddenly I realised that it reminded me of something...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luffy's twirly eyebrows during the gear 5's transformation!
And that's even more weird because if you think about it, jolly rogers are supposed to represent the captain of a crew, right? Like Whitebeard's jolly roger has exactly the same type of mustache he has, Luffy's one has a straw hat, Shank's one has his three scars and so on...
But Roger doesn't have his mustache curved like that or even of that white/light colour. He has normal (and beautiful) black mustache!
So... Why did Roger choose that kind of jolly roger, when it doesn't represent how he normally looks? 👀
You know what I'm hinting at right? Even without taking into account all the similarities between Luffy and Roger's behaviour...
Also I know that the fruit hasn't been awakened in 800 years, but it can't be a coincidence that the moustache on his jolly roger looks exactly like it would've looked like if he ate the fruit (and then awakened it)... even if we know that nobody between the era of Joyboy from 800 years ago and Luffy in the present has ever awakened the fruit, Oda might have still drawn his jolly roger like that for a reason that is linked to that specific devil fruit...
Or I might be wrong and it doesn't have anything to do with it, but in that case the question still remains... why did he choose a jolly roger that is so different from him?

(one piece wano arc spoilers)
So like @guardianlioness and I were talking about one piece and thematic stuff and generally losing our minds and we were talking especially about like
How Zoro and Sanji and Luffy are a Trio but also how Zoro and Sanji are explicitly also painted to be a duo to Luffy, right, like. They're the "Wings of the Pirate King". Together, they protect and look after the crew, but also their captain. They are, effectively, equals in what they do, "official" roles IN the crew itself aside. Zoro, with his high physical power as their physical defense and Sanji, with his high empathy and compassion as an emotional bulwark
And
Like
Okay. Here's the thing. Here's the proverbial problem. Cause right now, as it stands, Oda's introduced an unbalance to the duo. We were specifically talking about how frustrating it kind of is that the imbalance exists.
Because Oda gave Zoro conqueror's haki. He and Luffy share this— but it leaves Sanji as an odd one out. Thematically, it makes no sense to end with this like... off kilter seesaw. Why would you build these two up to BE on even standing only to take that away from them? Don't get me wrong, Zoro having conqueror's haki is a delicious character choice that I think adds fascinating complexity to Zoro and his position in the crew. He's a powerhouse, he's exerting his will over reality, and he follows his Captain the future Pirate King without question. Haki. Love it. Brilliant. But it makes no sense in the overarching thematic line between him and Sanji in regards to Luffy.
Giving Sanji conqueror's naturally wouldn't fix the issue, because frankly that defeats the entire purpose OF the char building that's been established in whole cake island. Sanji rejected the line of noble, of royalty, of power. It makes no SENSE for sanji to have it, he's not someone looking TO conquer or overcome the way Zoro is, it doesn't FIT him. And saying the stuff with his raid suit and the Germa augmentation rearing its head is the balance point is nonsensical for the same reason. Sanji already rejected all of that power and what it means and reclaimed it in a new way. Explicitly, directly, he denounced these things, directly ASSOCIATES them with a loss of humanity and his very self, wants nothing more to DO with it. Not only does it not make sense, but going back on it would be a slap in the face to all the development Sanji's gone through up until now, even laying aside the fact that it doesn't parallel Luffy at all so the unbalance isn't really addressed in that case.
But you know. Conqueror's Haki isn't the only thing Luffy has to proverbially offer. Conqueror's Haki is the overt, the direct, the loud and forceful. There's a lot we don't understand, between the stuff we do. It bears down and exerts over reality, makes demands of it. It tells you to listen.
What do we know about The Voice Of All Things? Not a lot. We know it seems to enable one to hear not the words, but the intention, the truth of other living things and even in objects, especially those with will like the Poneglyphs. We know Roger had it, Zunesha has it, the Kozuki line seemed generally to have it. The Three Eyed tribe may be capable of awakening it in themselves. We don't know if it's purely something you're born with or not. We don't know what it means, if anything, except for this: to hear the voice is to listen to the world around you and understand its heart.
When Luffy enters Gear 5, the only one who can tell at first is Zunesha. Zunesha can hear his heartbeat, and conveys this through the Voice to Momonosuke.
Tumblr media
The anime conveys it more clearly, but it's in the manga text, too. Immediately after Zunesha realizes this... Onigashima is shaking. No one quite knows yet what's going on, other than Kaido is here and the world around them is trembling. Those on the battlefield, they've got front row seats to witnessing the transformation, what comes next.
Zoro and Sanji have finished their fights. They're conked the fuck out post battle, like usual... or they should be. But here's the thing. Right after Zunesha calls for Joyboy, from a room distant to the fighting, offset from the war waging outside...
Tumblr media
Sanji's part in the major battles is over by this point. If they wanted to emphasize a "the crew knows their captain" moment, why not showcase the other strawhats too? The ones not on ground zero? But it doesn't show anyone else. It focuses. on. him.
Sanji, who's a deeply compassionate and kind man. Sanji, who stopped and paid attention even to the biological relatives he couldn't stand when he could've walked free without a care. Sanji, with his skills in Observation, in already listening to and feeling out others' intentions...
Zoro having conqueror's haki doesn't make sense on its own. It unbalances the duality of the Wings of the Pirate King. But give Sanji the power to hear the Voice Of All Things or something damn well close... that's a pretty good parallel to each other and their roles to Luffy, don't you think?
