I love your writing so much. What's your favorite thing you've ever written (line, chapter, work, tumblr post, anything)??

ummmmm um um oh god what a question

i mean it's a beautifully kind question but it's one that forces me to confront what ive written, which, unhinged!!!! i havent thought about my fics in a while (as you can probably tell from my lack of updates 🥴)

it's hard to pick a favorite line or anything of the sort, bc i actually like a lot of lines. not in a damn-that-line-is-the-world's-most-gorgeous-prose kinda way, or in a i-bet-readers-are-gonna-love-this kinda way, but in a hey-i-like-what-i-did-there kinda way, bc what i did ~there~ usually was take something from the (my) real world, whether a sensation, an idea, a phrase, a song lyric, a color, and bend it into fuel for a story. that's part of the magic of writing for me. actually that's nearly all of the magic for me (the other portion being that somehow sometimes the feelings i intend to evoke are, indeed, evoked in some readers, as per their comments)

when i glance through any random fic of mine, especially the more uhhh dramatic ones, i can see so many traces of... me? my life? my world? and it reminds me of how much writing gives me. it's just a place where i express myself i guess?? even as im telling a story about completely different people in a different setting from my own (sadly ive never had a threesome with my ex and his sorta ex, sorta nemesis, sorta lover!!). goddamn it, i knew this questions would make me desperate to write again. how dare you remind me of the joys of writing!!!! fuck you!!! (ilysm)

as far as whole fics go (and pls god dont make me pick a chapter, i might die), im still very partial to warm water, bc that's my baby, bc it's one of my first fics (it basically reignited my love for writing??) and bc i really didnt expect it to resonate so much w folks. the response was wild, never in a million years did i see that coming. also bc it helped me process some things that i didnt realize needed processing, and bc it got me through the start of the pandemic and through writing an rma thesis. and bc it's pretty sizeable for my standards. but it's also like.... early!jo work. i like to think ive grown a little bit more into my own writer's skin since?? but it was huge in growing said skin. so it's my baby

i also like unlike, bc it pairs my very Dramatic Writing StyleTM with smut, which, as it turns out, is my comfort zone somehow (??) and i like as trouble ought to do bc it broke my post-warm water angst drought and i experimented in that one. it's an acquired taste, but hey, aren't we all?

alright let me stop there, before i fall in love with the act of writing again,

This is?? kinda specific?? but can you write something where they're still at school but no one's seen Simon in a few days and Baz is rly worried and then in the middle of the night he just hears the door open and Simon is there all cut up and bruised and starved bc he was kidnapped by the humdrum for whatever reason and was like tortured by him and then Baz, being the Protective Boyfriend™ that he is, helps care for Simon and cuddles with him and comforts him and stuff? 😬

this was super specific but also super adorable, so,,, here you are! i wrote this in like, 45 minutes without any proofreading or editing, so sorry if it’s trash and thanks for the inspiration!

When Simon had first gone missing, Baz thought nothing of it. It wasn’t exactly normal for him to go somewhere for days at a time, it wasn’t un-normal. He, like everyone else, just assumed that the Chosen One was finally getting his chance to go on a quest with The Mage, who had also been gone for days. Watford was filled with whispers.

The seed of doubt was planted in him when The Mage returned; without Simon. He assured everyone that Simon would be back soon, but Baz wasn’t an idiot. He could see the uncertainty in the man’s beady eyes.

Thus, it began. For days, he waited for Simon to return to Watford. Though he would never admit it, their room felt empty without him in it, as if Baz was sucking the life out of it, the leftover life Simon Snow had left behind.

At every meal, he watched the doors, half expecting the git to march in and start stealing scones out of the oven before they were ready, the way he’d done in their first year. It never happened, of course. Simon was nowhere to be found.

He interrogated Penelope on the sixth day. “Just out of curiosity, where is our brave young hero?” he asked, taking a nonchalant seat beside her in the dining hall. The poor girl had been eating alone this past week, with even Wellbelove locking herself in her room for meals.

“You think I would be here if I knew?” she snapped, picking at her roast beef.

“What, you expect me to believe that Snow left without telling you where he was going?” Baz laughed. “I have a hard time believing he goes to the toilet without letting you know, Bunce.”

Penelope didn’t look amused, however. Something in her face made him stop laughing.

“I’m not saying he left without telling me,” she said slowly, not making eye contact. “I’m saying he might have never gotten the chance.”

What she was saying dawned on him slowly, and his stomach sank. “You think he was… taken?”

“I don’t know anything for certain,” she said. “All I know is that nobody knows where he is, his phone has stopped even ringing when I call, and he’s been gone for six days.”

That was all Baz needed to hear to confirm his worst suspicion - and most terrible fear. He could feel his heart clenching with the reality of the situation, could feel his intestines tying themselves in knots.

Simon Snow had to be alright. If he wasn’t, what hope did that leave for the rest of them?

Instead of saying that, though, he said, “Good. We could all use a little less heroism in our lives,” and walked away.

That night, he lay awake for hours, trying to gather the will to hunt but failing to do so. The catacombs were so dark and cold, and Baz wasn’t sure if he could take another dark and cold night.

Another Simon-less night.

Nobody noticed Baz slowly receding, not even Dev and Niall. Nobody noticed the way he stopped talking in lessons and started gazing out the window instead, nobody noticed the way he ate less and spoke less and joked less. Nobody even noticed when he got back an exam full of red pen marks and ‘See me’ written across the top, which hadn’t happened to Baz Pitch in all his years at Watford.

Nobody except Penelope. She knew the feeling too well.

When Simon finally came back, it was the middle of the night, and Baz was awake.

He hadn’t been sleeping enough recently, and it showed. The bags beneath his eyes were gigantic and he looked even paler than usual. His only company in the dark room was the draft.

Then, suddenly, the door flew open.

“Shit,” said a familiar voice.

The door closed more softly than it had opened, and sounds of loud scuffling filled the room. For a moment, Baz dared not open his eyes.

What if he opened them and it wasn’t Simon? He dared not hope.

But he knew it was Simon when there was a crash from the bathroom and another loud curse. The air filled with the scent of smoke. It curled around him like a lost pet found again, comforting and familiar.

Baz had no time to bask in it, though, because he was throwing back the covers and bounding out of bed. He was running for the bathroom, grasping for the lights, he had to see Simon-

And there, looking washed out under the fluorescent bathroom lights, stood Simon Snow.

He looks terrible, thought Baz, before he crushed him in his arms.

He really did look terrible. His skin was pale and bruised, his hair matted with dirt and blood. He had tiny cuts all along his arms that he suspected were deeper than they looked, and his eyes were shiny with tears. But none of that mattered as Simon reached up to hold Baz in an equally tight embrace, because Simon Snow was here, and Simon Snow was safe.

To Baz’s alarm, his thin body began to shake. Simon went limp in his arms, both from injury and exhaustion. Baz held him up, held him steady.

(It was easier now that he was so skinny. He had always been underweight, but this was ridiculous.)

“Simon…” he said.

Simon just shook his head and held on tighter. And he hated himself for it, but a part of Baz liked this, liked having Simon need him. Liked feeling needed.

They stood in the doorway to their bathroom, two enemies clutching at each other fiercely. Two boys.

Slowly, Baz loosened his hold on the other boy, but didn’t let go entirely. Simon didn’t feel stable enough to stand on his own. He led him to the edge of the shower and sat him down on the edge of it.

“No, no, ‘s alright,” Simon was mumbling.

“We’re just going to clean you up, Simon,” said Baz. “You’re always a bloody mess, Snow, but this is ridiculous.”

Oddly enough, Simon seemed to listen to him. He stopped struggling and let the warm water run over his head, down his back, wash the filth off his body and down the drain.

They sat there for a long time, letting the water wash him, before Baz realized they were holding hands. His cheeks flushed and he tried to pull his hand away, but Simon just tightened his grip.

A long silence followed.

“Aren’t you going to ask me where I was?” said Simon finally. His voice was so weak it made Baz want to cry.

“I was getting to that,” he said.

Simon let out a shuddery breath. “I was… was…” he clutched Baz’s hand like a lifeline, “… with the Humdrum.”

Baz inhaled sharply, looking at Simon’s beat up body in a new light. The Humdrum had done this?

He would kill him. Her. It. Whatever The Humdrum was, Baz would kill it.

“He- he did the thing where he… sucked me away. Except this time, I was alone, and I didn’t know what to do, and before I could think he was holding me down and hurting me-” he cut off with a sharp sob, and Baz bumped Simon’s shoulder with his own. A comfort bump.

“At first… it wasn’t so bad. I thought I would wait until he got tired and then r-run for it… but he never got tired… the opposite. The more he hurt me, the s-stronger he got.”

“You don’t have to talk about it,” said Baz softly, though his soft voice did little to disguise the fact that he was already plotting to murder the Humdrum. For hurting Simon, the creature would pay.

But right now, Simon didn’t need murderous intent. He needed someone to be there. And Baz was the only one around.

“I want to talk about it,” he said, stubbornly. Baz chuckled and nodded for him to go on.

Simon flushed. “There’s actually… there’s not much more to the story.”

“How did you get away?” he asked.

A new darkness dawned on his sunrise face. “He tried to kill me. He hurt me before, but never came close to killing me. Then, all of a sudden, he… he tried, and I went off. And somehow I wound up here.”

“Home,” said Baz, sounding a bit stiff to his own ears, a bit unused to this… kind way of speaking. “You wound up home.”

Simon seemed to search his eyes for something, and seemed to find whatever he was looking for, because he leaned his head on Baz’s shoulder and sighed. His head was warm and heavy. Baz was afraid to move and scare him away.

“Is that what this is?” he asked. “Home?”

This time, it was Baz who searched Simon’s face. He saw many things in that face that he knew so well, many things even he had never seen before. But one thing was missing. Hatred.

There was no hate in Simon Snow’s face when he looked at Baz. The thought filled him with warmth.

“Yeah,” he whispered, putting an arm around Simon and holding him even closer to his side. “You’re home, Simon.”

i would just like to say thank you, for everything. you were a big part of my life, up until now. when we see each other after this, we would just be strangers. maybe flash a little smile or give a little wave whenever we greet each other but nothing more. some memories of us would flow in every now and then but it'll just be a short teaser. well, i'll be going now. smile for me, okay?

my thoughts: this is a one-shot book (no cohesive storyline unless chosen) but its so good. so good. i thought shigaraki, dabi and all might in one book was interesting but never the less, super good! i never was interested in the mute concept but its written good? (but thinking about it all the other mute!reader fics are good but they wont nsfw so it didnt interest me-) furthermore, its so good. so pure. so hot. 11/10 would recommend.

A chief falls

So, I've been a long time LoZ fan & have written for this fandom before, but had never published anything. With me getting my hands on BotW & Age of Calamity & the release of BotW2 sometime this or next year, my love for this series has been rekindled. & I know this has probably been done so many times before, but I'm an angst mastermind, so here have my interpretation of the defeat of my favourite Breath of the WIld character:

The air was thick with the stench of evil, a putrid combination of decay with a hint of corrupt magic, as a mist of purples & reds blotted out the sun. All of Hyrule suddenly was plunged into darkness, a stifling, choking, destroying darkness, as the castle in the centre drowned in the masses of Malice & Guardians. Across the fields, up the hills & in the ditches, creatures clambered from below the earth, clawing their way from beyond their graves in an insatiable bloodlust, a hunger for the lives of the living. They swarmed like ants, in numbers never seen before, the land disappearing below the shifting, wriggling mass of reanimated flesh & bones that spread far into the horizon.

Vah Naboris gave out a thunderous noise, a desperate call for help as Malice crawled across the golden sands of Gerudo Desert, falling across dunes & rolling along the rocks. Like water, it quivered when struck by Naboris' lightning, shivering at the Divine Beast's might. Yet it persisted, pulling itself closer to the giant with every heave of its pulsing, purple body. And when it hit, the Beast gave out a pained cry, crashing to its knees with a shudder that shook the ancient being to its core.

Urbosa braced herself as the Malice hit, unsheathing her scimitar with a familiar shink, letting it reverberate in the silence of the felled Divine Beast. Daybreaker followed suit, a reassuring weight across her forearm, as she turned to face her opponent. It took a few seconds, a cruel anticipation edged with a lining of fear, before the air crackled to life with the warmth of a thunderbolt. Urbosa dodged, the bolt striking her previous spot within inches of her. A blue glow filled the inside of Naboris, a sphere of fast spinning bolts that expanded & grew until a monster stood before the Gerudo chief. Mechanic, made of the same slick, black metal the Sheikah were known so well for, strands of fiery red hair sprouting from its head in the imitation of its master, the shameful 'King' of the Gerudo that should have never existed. And of course, its entire body was wreathed in the blinding, crackling light of thunder, dancing around its blade as if it was mocking Urbosa.

"Make your move, traitor." She called out to the machine, hoping its master heard her. She dared not twitch a single muscle under the unblinking, unnatural gaze of the creature. She would not show fear, not in front of the man who brought scorn to her tribe. No fear, & no defeat, not before Ganon, not now.

It was unbelievable fast, disappearing in a blink & reappearing with an unrelenting flurry of attacks. Urbosa could only parry so often, countering with a fury worthy of a god. Yet her attacks barely left a dent on the electrically charged monster, her biggest strength turned into her biggest weakness. And with every parry that landed her hits on her adversary, the Malice-driven creature attacked with twice as much power, & it was an endless struggle between guarding & not letting herself get pushed into a corner.

When she got a hit in, her movements were like a beautiful dance, the Scimitar of the Seven slicing through the air with a brutally breath-taking display, coupled with its wielder’s fluid grace that followed through on every strike. While she took the stage in her display of power & beauty, her adversary zapped around jerkily, its movements harsh & robotic, swift & precise yet lacking any form, any fluidity, almost in a cruel imitation of her own performance.

Yet beauty wasn't enough, & even in the face of skill, in spite of years upon years of training & battle, it wasn't enough. Urbosa's scimitar crashed against the machine's shield, a parry following that ripped the blade out of her arm. Then came an onslaught of strikes, like unyielding lightning that struck with a vengeance, before a sound like thunder followed. Daybreaker clattered to the floor before her in pieces, its demise at the hands of Ganon's puppet doing nothing to protect Urbosa from the inevitable. She met the creature's lifeless eyes as her own widened in shock. She didn't even get a chance to cry out when the thing's sword drove through her chest, spearing her heart.

Her lasts thoughts before she fell was one last slither of hope that maybe the others reigned triumphant against their blights & that Link still stood alongside Zelda, the sword of evil's bane at his side while the Princess stared in the face of Ganon himself & unleashed her hidden sealing powers. But with one last breath the realisation crashed down upon her alongside the sword of Thunderblight Ganon.

"You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"

Like a phoenix

I wrote a lil somethin' somethin' for Resident Evil Village. I kinda got hooked last week after seeing a playthrough of it (I don't play horror games myself) & now I've got my own OC. So, tis is meant to be a lil introduction forLord Garet Feniks. Enjoy.

The uproar died down as Mother Miranda stepped up onto the pew, silencing the rowdy lycans with a wave of her arm. She surveyed the gathered, Donna sitting shyly at her right, Angie running around Moreau’s legs at her left. Alcina was inspecting her nails, sitting prim & proper to the right, & Karl was fidgeting, crossing & uncrossing his legs, grumbling something under his nose & scowling at the air on the left. Up above, in the rafters of the cathedral, the lycans were getting impatient too, small growls & snarls coming from every direction.

The sun was high up in the sky, filtering through the holes in the roof, & yet there was still someone missing from the congregation. The family gathering could not start until all of her children were present, after all, & yet one of her sons was still missing.

“Would anyone happen to know where Lord Feniks is?” The Lords all looked between each other, Angie scurrying across the floor to sit with Donna as all four of them shook their heads simultaneously.

“M...maybe he got lost?” Moreau stammered out nervously, looking around the cathedral as if the fifth lord would just pop out of the shadows all of a sudden with a loud ‘BOO!’

“Highly unlikely. He is not a child,” Alcina remarked, getting an offended ‘HEY!’ out of Karl at the subtle jab, “I would assume he would be busy with the lycans.”

“Yeah, with his friend.” Karl jeered.

“Maybe Urias ate him!” Angie cackled from Donna’s lap, looking as if she was about to tip onto the floor with all of her laughter shaking her tiny body. Miranda only shook her head, unsatisfied with her children’s answers, & disappointed with her son’s tardiness. He must have gotten it from Karl, or the other way around. Being late must simply be a family thing for them.

“If he does not arrive soon, we will just have to start without him.” She remarked, to the nodding of all her children. She cannot make exceptions for one unruly son, after all. The had to make preparations, they had to all be aware of the ceremony, all know the parts they were destined to play in this plan of hers. His had been long time coming, she couldn’t give up now.

“So, why did you gather us this time, M...” Heisenberg’s question was interrupted by a loud BANG from behind Miranda, as the chapel doors flew open, & silence covered everything like a thick, stifling, choking blanket. Not even the lycans dared to let out a noise, they didn’t even dare open their muzzles as a stench like burning flesh filled the air, a noxious, flammable gas lingering in all the corners of the building, a silent warning from Lord Feniks himself.

The figure standing in the doorway was tall, muscular, his body covered in a thick fur coat shining in the light of the sun, the grey fur skinned from a wolf. His legs were covered by leather trousers, crafted masterfully out of pig skin, leather of the same kind woven into belts hung around Feniks’ chest & waist, a dagger & liquid-filled vails sitting in sheaths at his waist, & round, grenade-like objects bound by more leather were attached to the belt at his chest. There was a war horn carved from bone hanging from his waist, string made from horse hair binding it tightly. Upon his head sat a skull, great antlers growing out of it, reaching towards the sky like the branches of a great behemoth. From behind the eye sockets of the deer skull came a faint glow, & a raspy, deep breathing. It was as if someone ripped him from his times, some sort of witch of the 13th century Poland, & thrust him into the quaint little village of Romania in the 21st century.

Lord Feniks took a step forward, horrifying burns & callouses covering his bare feet as he descended further into the cathedral, skin peeling at his ankles, presenting the melted flesh below. More of those scars littered his arms, seen even under the steel gauntlet that he wore on his left hand, clicking the sharpened claws together in a rhythm, click-clack, click-clack-clack, click-clack, click-clack-clack. More burns stretched across his bared collarbones, up his neck, covering any & all slithers of his face that could be seen under the skull he wore.

The closer he got, the stronger the smell of gas became, until it was near nauseating, that disgusting reminder that they could all go up in flames at any moment, should he so wish. Miranda could also hear a delicate squeaking as her middle child come closer, something that almost resembled the squeaking of a rat, or two rats, overlapping each other. Feniks approached her yet closer, & she could see the back of his head as he did a half-hearted bow before her. His brown hair had been tied in a braid that day, a slither of white leading from his right temple & to the very end of the braid. And, beneath that there was movement, a wriggling & wiggling as suddenly a rat peaked its whiskered face from below the confines of the skull. Then another head peaked out, one brown & one black, & then the greyish body followed suit, as the two-headed rat ran down Feniks’ arm & into his awaiting hand.

“If it isn’t Lord Garet Feniks. Took your time, cousin.” Karl snarled, finally settling on sitting with his legs crossed, his left ankle resting on his right knee. Garet huffed, the glow from behind the skull getting more intense as he glared at Lord Heisenberg.

“Zamknął byś się, Heisenberg, bo ci jeszcze język wyrwę.” Garet cursed the lord out, sneering as he stalked closer. His voice was deep & booming, a raspy quality to it as with every word he spoke, the room filled more & more with the flammable gas that his lungs began to produce after he was given the cadou.

“Halt dich still, Feniks!” Karl shot back, uncrossing his legs & bursting out of his chair to the chants of ‘fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!’ from Angie. He glared up at Feniks, trying to give himself some more height by bouncing on the balls of his feet, waving his hammer around like it was a toy & not a mass of metals. Feniks clenched & unclenched his left hand, holding it up & positioning his fingers as if he was ready to snap them, the silver of the gauntlet glinting from the beams of sunlight filtering through the rooftop.

Miranda shook her head, pinching the bridge of her nose to keep her cool, the stomped up to them & from her back burst out her wings, an echoing fwoosh sounding as the black feathers obscured Heisenberg’s & Feniks’ view of one another, “Enough! Both of you! Sit!” She commanded, sending them both a displeased & quite disappointed look. She couldn’t see what sort of expression Garet was making at her under his skull, but Karl had a decidedly furious scowl marring his face, & was clearly still raring to go. This would be a long meeting.

But, eventually, both of the Lords sat at their mother’s command, Karl first, & Garet beside him on the bench flanking Miranda’s left, together echoing “Yes, mother.”

“Finally. We can begin.”
