YES YES!! EXACTLY!! :DDDD What I had in mind was it takes a lot of energy to maintain her "friendly form". So when ever she is sick or injured she has trouble maintain her form.. She usually deals with this by hiding away in her home until she recovers and can safely let people see her. She's also really good about keeping people from visiting her while she's ill. Saying she's too sick to be around..

Well one time she was sick for a biiiit longer than usual. Frank wouldn't admit it but he was worried, so he brought her some food and medicine. Only to open the door and see... well, yeah. Her true form. But in the end Frank accepted her for who she really was. And he respected her wishes and kept it all a secret. That was the day they became true best friends.. 🥺

The second one is more of a joke though XDD Just kind of a gag to hint at what's going on inside my Julies head!

🦋 - Who is my favourite character to write

MAN!!!!! This one is so hard!!! I love writing for all of these characters for different reasons. They all bring me great comedic moments and they all have their serious dramatic ones, too! Id have to say overall Omega is a joy, I love the heightened comedy that comes with his character and then exploring the times he can be more sincere to really contrast and give more life to the character. Alternatively Shadow, of course, is great, you can really lean deep into angst and drama for him and trust me, I gotta LOT of that coming. Sage is another stand out. Again, stay tuned.

🎨 - If an artist were to draw fanart for my fic what scene would I like

WELL! I've already had some AMAZING fanart for my series, both from friends and my teammates for the 2024 sonic Big Bang, as well as commissions of things from specific episodes, so overall I feel pretty satisfied on that front! But there are still certain moments I would love to see as art, and may even commission in the future. For example, Amy's Holiday Party, with everyone dressed to the 9s in fancy clothes and celebrating each others company! Sonic, Shadow, and the Fake Sonic in their grind race in rail canyon, the colours and aesthetic of that level are super pretty to me so I would love to see that. Anything at all with the Chaotix, too. But again! I've had so many amazing pieces of art made for my fics, and they're all amazing. I still get blown away looking at them they're so GOOOOD ill probably reblog this later with all of them and you have GOTTA follow the artists they're INSANE!!!

My friend and I like to guess if we can see how mentally ill an artist is from how they draw or from the lyrics of their song. I always wondered if people could see anything through my work 😹

My mental health has never been very good, but I always had enough distractions to keep thoughts at bay (until they weren't)

Kekkai was the last series I was invested in so naturally I found comfort from it in hard times. It didn't save my life entirely but it was definitely on the back-burner watching me attempt, recovery and beyond.

Now whenever i look at this blog's archive its like looking at a time capsule 🥹 its hard to believe its been years. i've met so many cool people over the course of loving this manga, and ofc had to say goodbye to many as well.

When I scroll down this blog it'll say something like last post "from 5 months ago" "1 year ago" "3 years ago" and I'll be like wow has it been that long already? Time flies now. It makes me feel morbid & a bit sad, but looking back reminds me of every moment up until now. And I become very grateful for the journey. Like wow I can't believe i'm still alive, kind of way lol.

I've always felt morbid on new years. But with every year since then, i've learned to be more grateful. The idea that hellsalems lot was born on new years is beautiful to me, and now I understand why.

I'm still getting better, high chance I will be for the rest of my life. Of course one day I may contribute my last fanart , I dont intend for it to be anytime soon. But I'll never forget this series, the one thats Seen It All HAHA. I'm not sure I will ever learn to forget about kekkai on new years.

im back!! a few things i want to say:

very belated because i checked late, but i reached a huge milestone. somehow went overboard, too. without keeping this long and without disclosing numbers (im good at math, i just have terrible impostor syndrome), i just want to say that there are so many of you. from the bottom of my heart, thank you. the word “grateful” barely encompasses the amount of gratitude i have for you all. <3

honestly i havent been doing okay mentally and emotionally for so long. im not gonna air out my personal struggles to the internet, ill just simply say that its been bad. thankfully though, i was granted the chance to take an academic break and seek professional help so LETS FUCKING GOOOOO hopefully this will give me more time to properly fix myself and be more active on here :D

that being said, i tried to make something special for both the milestone and for coming back; i just mapped out two series ideas. theyre gonna be fully written but i havent gone past the outlines yet LMFAO one is a lighthearted romcom, the other is a mafia darkfic. both involve threeways and, of course, are dom!reader hehe. ill make a poll soon on which series to start first!

This is C!/CHARACTER!!! In no way am i impersonating scott the content creator. I am simply answering questions the way i think his esmp1 character would answer.

Admittedly, i have never watched scotts esmp1 series- i mostly know about his character through clips, fanfics, fanarts, and other fans. I know im such a fake fan /sarc so if i get any lore or canon wrong please tell me and ill do my best to fix it. If i cannot, then oh well to bad so sad.

This will include my personal headcanons so if you haven't heard of whatever even or something from canon, its most likely a headcanon

The Last Phoenotopia Blog Update

(Date 2021 MAR 01)

I debated how to open this blog post, but perhaps the main crux of this blog post is the best place to start. The blog is being retired.

The purpose of this blog was to be a "development" blog for Phoenotopia, and well, Phoenotopia's development is done. I'll still be doing bug fixes and maintenance on the PC and Switch versions, and playstation and xbox ports are underway (by a publisher). But I'm not going to be making any more major changes to the game. At some point, you put the paintbrush down and say it's done. Blemishes and all.

Recent Events

The game launched on Steam last month, and like any launch, it was hectic. Bugs Galore. This is our first commercial PC launch, so it was a real baptism by fire. Unlike Switch's one configuration, the PC has multiple configurations and factors to account for. The game needed to be able to handle multiple control schemes, screen resolutions, refresh rates, and more! I had a 60Hz monitor going into launch and didn't know anything about Hz (I do now). There was a troublesome stutter that some players were sensitive to that my whole team didn't notice since our eyes compensated it away. There were a few times where in fixing something at one party's behest, it introduced problems for another party. A few times, due to disorganization, I unwittingly rolled back a fix that was meant to be applied. For some, the game couldn't play at all (really glad Steam allows refunds).

It was messy. It was tiring. I.AM.BEAT.

I think the worst of it is over... I'll still be around to do the last updates and bug fixes, but I'm ultimately ready for what's next.

SO what is next?

What isn't next... is Phoenotopia 2. As you may have heard down the grapevine, the game couldn't be what you call successful. No one's earned even minimum wage on it.

Maybe there's hope in the game's long tail. A year or two down the line... maybe. I won't hold my breath though. At some point in the past few months, I finished processing (or grieving) and it's time to move on.

The game has at least earned enough for us to continue our modest operations. As long as we don't expand the team, and we don't take another monster six-year dev cycle like what Phoenotopia took, we can continue. We'll have to be smarter and faster. Perhaps the most valuable thing we gained from all this is experience.

The Experience

It is a dev blog. Here are some of the lessons I've accumulated from this game's development.

- Have a good menu design. Menus aren't just that in-between fluff before you get to the good stuff. Menus are KEY. Your menus need to be robust, expandable, and *understandable* (to you, the developer). Because once the game's out, you will invariably be asked to add more options. And if your menu design is bad, every time you have to add a new menu option, it becomes a whole new pain all over again. Support mouse from the get-go, etc.

- Focus on features that people will actually care about. For instance, I've never seen anyone praise the camera's zoom feature. In practice, people try that feature a few times and then never use it again. But that feature was a constant consideration factor for every level. Run through it multiple times to make sure the level didn't break, think about which zoom levels made sense, resize rooms because they worked at one zoom level but not the other, and so on.

- Don't do boxes that you can move around. Other 2D platformers avoid movable boxes because they're a huge headache to program and they really complicate the game space. Enemies need to respond to boxes you throw in their path and either navigate around or attack it. When you're moving the box, you have to worry about constantly changing your collision size and reconciling when the box gets snagged on the environment. The boxes were also a constant source of bugs because people can manipulate them to soft-lock themselves and more.

- More focused script. Phoenotopia's 100,000+ word script was panned more for being bloated than it was praised for being lengthy. Long scripts take a long time to write and make the game more unwieldy, increasing the costs of translation and upkeep. Every update we're addressing some textual error or mistranslation. There are some highly renowned games (e.g. Hyper Light Drifter) that do without a script at all!

- Be flashy! A bat and a lightsaber take the same amount of work to program, but the lightsaber will draw a lot more attention and interest.

- Slopes, surprisingly! Six years ago when I started, Unity was ill-equipped for 2D games. If you used the physics that Unity provided you'd have a really floaty character that wouldn't adhere to the slope when going downhill. There were a hundred different tutorials saying different things (use forces, use move position, use translation, etc). You can get rectangular collisions done in a day, but to do slopes took weeks. Meanwhile, games can actually get by fine without slopes. Most people won't even notice. Did you know the Phoenotopia flash game didn't have slopes? Neither does Hollow Knight or Rogue Legacy. You can save yourself a lot of work by avoiding slopes.

I could write enough little knowledge nuggets like this to fill a book! But I'd rather just make the next game. 

So… what IS next?

As mentioned previously, it's not Phoenotopia 2. Pirate and I are mostly just tossing some ideas back and forth right now. We'll go silent for a year (or two). Our next game's scope will be more modest in some ways, more ambitious in others. It will definitely be more smartly designed. (There will be a map!)

We'll announce it when it's ready for the public. It might be necessary for us to do a kickstarter. I've tried to avoid kickstarters having been burnt on quite a few myself and also because I worry that mismanaging a kickstarter would earn the ire of backers.

But I did keep this blog regularly updated for six years. So I've gained some confidence in my abilities to at least manage a kickstarter well.

Is it really the last Phoenotopia Blog update though?

Okay, not really. There is some news that I'll need to announce, and this blog is one of the game's main outreach channels. Here are the events that will cause me to update the blog:

Announcing the launch of the xbox/playstation ports when they're ready

If a physical edition of the game happens

If a new language is getting introduced into the game (Korean is a high possibility)

When we're ready to talk about our next game

If (BIG IF) we begin development on a Phoenotopia sequel. I do want to do a sequel one day if we have the means and the demand is there. 

Those updates will be more on a "when they happen" basis, rather than me reporting in every couple months.

Hah hah. I got a chuckle out of this one. I imagine this is how Gail's enemies see her by the end of the game. CaESar made this image based on TerminalMontage's famous youtube videos. Nailed it!

CrownStar drew two pictures of Gail. I'm a big player of JRPGs, so the first shot instantly reminded me of Persona 4's art style. (Hmmm... Phoeonotopia as a JRPG... there’s potential there...) Next, Birdy is shown carried off after her defeat. I really like Birdy's expression here - she just seems mildly uncomfortable.

There's a bit of a story behind the first image. As Firanka shares it, she wasn't able to defeat the Big Eye monster at the end of the flash game, so she believed a tall tale that what awaited after was a 6 armed Kobold boss. Hilarious! The second is a rendition of the lonely Anuri elder. A rare subject. The loneliness is portrayed well here. I feel lonely just looking at it!

Koo_chop draws the clash between Gail and Katash at the top of the towers. I really like this interpretation of the game's art style. It’s faithful to the in-game graphics. And the lighting, from the glow of Gail's bat, to Katash's sword, and the lightning in the background... Amazing!

Lime Hazard shows Gail with a salute pose. Very appropriate for this occasion. I also like how there's a slight tilt in the angle that Gail is portrayed. Those dynamic angles are always hard to get right, and Lime Hazard pulled it off very skillfully. See you next mission!

Lyoung0J with a digital painting of Gail posed sitting on a rock. I like how it almost seems like she was caught in a candid moment - she’s smiling, but also feeling self-conscious. Cute! The art style really pops, and I like how Gail is sporting what I call the old anime style nose.

Niitsu Kentaro returns with a 2021 Happy New Year picture. That happened didn't it? A New Year... Gail's pose gave me a chuckle with how she seems to be waving the bat around as casually as one would wave hello. And "Phoenotopiyear"... Well said! One day we'll have our Phoenotopiyear...

There's so many goodies here. My favorite would be the one with Gail staring intently at the screen - it's like she's looking directly at you. You almost feel uncomfortable.

Next, there's an Animal Crossing villager dressed as Gail and sporting her pink hair. It even looks like a house Gail would live in. Gail is a connoisseur of the arts and likes Mona Lisa. Yes :)

There are various comics of Gail pointing out Gail's weird food habits. A picture of Fran looking really cool, and even Gail rocking a bathing suit. (bathing suit image linked here in case NSFW). Wow!

Pimez didn't just collect the arts, he creates them as well! This one, which he aptly named 'The Year 175' is a depiction of when the dragons invaded the towers as told by an elderly Daean woman. Great pixeling skills! I got a good chuckle from the ice dragon leaving with its stuff slung over its shoulder.

Quo made a stunning picture of Gail playing the flute surrounded by the 5 musical notes and the Phoenix logo behind her. The theme seems to be "fire" and it works really well. Gail herself looks awesome depicted in her red suit - it's like she's leading a marching band!

Rai Asuha depicts Gail in the late game with her red suit, and night star bat, and holding a lamp. She looks ready for adventure! I really like the white outline here and Gail's poofy shoulders here - the art style feels reminiscent of Final Fantasy Tactics.

Seri also draws Gail bearing her late game equipment. Unique to Seri's drawing is how all of Gail's equipment is accessible from a pocket on her shirt. I also like how Gail is depicted with her lucky earrings - that accessory is often forgotten.

Treedude depicts Gail with a bat and wearing a funny smirk. She looks like she's ready to hurt someone!

Hello, sorry for bothering. I just wanna say that you're a great artist and all of you works inspire me. I'd been following you since your Hamilton fanarts, and it your art really improved for the past years. You really motivate me to keep draw.

But I'm sorry if I seem like I just want attention/ranting. I just really need to talk to someone (Yes I'm this desperate). This is kinda long so you don't have to read it all.

How do you overcome this stacks of homework and assessments of test? It's really hard to learn by yourself especially this pandemic. All this pressure make me feel so tired and why do they keep making questions that doesn't seemed to be needed in life situations. For example, Why school doesn't teach us how to cook, what are taxes, what do you do when someone gets injured and there is no one to ask for help, and especially social skills. Instead they just teach us about complicated stuff and they don't even bother to try teach us. They don't even try to make online meetings for classes.

I just currently turn 14 but I feel like 34.

Doesn't school know that students have life outside school? I'm so done, and then there's crappy teachers who doesn't even try to help us with our lessons.

I just want all students to be kids. I want us to have more time to be ourselves. But it seems like we're force to grow up fast. All this certain expectations are messed up.

I know teachers are underpaid and all but can't the government try add some raise on their salaries? Isn't education suppose to make us learn wheather we are fast or slow learners? Or that education is for everyone? Poor or rich, smart or dumb.

Conclussion : The School systems is garbarge and public school is hell.

Hey! I'm sure you are not the only one feeling this way. I don't know where you're from and can only compare to the German school system that is not all that great either.

The pandemic is draining students and young people. I can't say what it's like for younger teenagers that are in middle school/freshman level because I was 16 when the pandemic started and in the higher classes already.

Now I'm on my final year of high school. I have not had a normal junior or senior year. School has been closed and we were put into homeschooling for a few months, we've had a system of "changing class" - classes were divided into two groups (A and B) and A went to school one week, while B had homeschooling and the next week A stayed home any B went to school, many things gave been scratched from the curriculum and for the finals, entire exams were canceled and while in year 12 we had hope we'd have it easier than the seniors then, we too now have to fear our finals possibly getting postponed, our Abistreich (senior prank) being incredibly reduced, our Abiball (prom) not being able to be celebrated with family or be celebrated at all.

And teachers aren't helping with the homework they give. You barely have time for yourself and your health - be ot mental or physical or both. I've had bad series of mental health struggles this pandemic.

In defense of teachers though: it isn't easy for them right now either. They somehow have to teach students what is in the curriculum so that they pass the Abitur in the end and are educated after all. And that under regulations from the government. Teachers follow them too. I can imagine it is everything put easy for them either.

Students and young people feel helpless and left alone by the government, we feel drained of out joy and it's not surprising mental health issues and illnesses have skyrocketed... because students and young people are near to the only group that has followed every single regulation to stop the pandemic. We wear masks wherever we go, study in class with wide opened windows every 20 minutes at like 1°-7°C outside (with cold wind here by the coast) and masks, when they wanted us to do a test every second day we obliged, when we got green light for the vaccine we got it - I believe like 80-90% of my senior year is vaccinated and some are already getting in line to get the third one. When it was curfew and lockdown majority played along, when my classmate celebrated his birthday in July he had people show that they were tested negative or vaccinated. We did all that and keep doing all that because we are told to please do that in regard of people who are risk patients, who are unable to get vaccinated, in regard of saving people's lives. And in return we get... nothing.

We feel left alone because nobody really acknowledges it and we feel frustrated because adult fucking people are not getting the vaccine because "it was developed too fast", "i decide what I put in my body" (which is valid obviously but in Germany's current situation everything but helpful), ",the vaccine brings nothing" and the media not being all too helpful for whatever reason. German speaking countries are in the last places in Europe when it's about the vaccinated population. I believe that comes from the fact that compared to other European countries that had it bad Germany got off easy. The first two waves were handled alright, because the government acted quick and I got to hand that to the government. We had cases, but our health system was not in a shape like the Italian one was. The third wave came and the bs began rising. Now the fourth wave is putting our health system in trouble... hospital places especially intensive care are filling up with infected people that shouldn't even be there because they should've been vaccinated. Italy, Spain and Portugal, countries that experienced the the first two waves in catastrophic dimensions and have a pretty high vaccinated population now are doing alright. Just an example.

It's frustrating because we young people (and people who in general worked against the pandemic regardless of age) now have to live in reduced life styles AGAIN because of people refusing to get the vaccine. We can't any longer. Our tolerance and understanding is at its limit because we tolerated, accepted and tried to understand/understood those people for the last two years. We can't anymore. It feels meaningless because our situation in Germany has only gotten worse.

I'm not even trying to bash people that are afraid to get the vaccine and have their concerns. I'm also not a fan of an "Impfpflicht" (Compulsory vaccination) but right now it is simply the only measure that could get us out of this catastrophic situation. I'm not bashing people scared or afraid. I'm not bashing skeptical people. I'm bashing those that have the nerve here to compare the 2G regulations (2G -> geimpft (vaccinated) oder genesen (recovered)) to the events of the chase and discrimination after and against Jews in 1933-1945 Germany. Those who have the nerve to compare the systematic genocide against a group of people that is the world's most known and most horrible crime against humanity to regulations made to keep people save from a virus. Yes, unvaccinated people are like barely allowed anywhere with the 2G rule and I can understand it's a feeling similar to discrimination. But comparisons to the Holocaust are nothing but absolutely disrespectful to the millions of Jews murdered and the Jewish people nowadays still suffering from the events. Those people drawing the comparisons say "history repeats itself" "we've returned to the 1930s" and act like they care, like some white savior complex in defense of the Jews. Like, I’d be down if that were going on, but there are literally multiple scenes in the show where Shinji gets uploaded into the matrix, and he invariably identifies as male - male avatar, etc. The ambiguously-gendered person who does identify as female is the ginormous demon. But, more importantly, this misreading basically unwittingly says that trans people become that way due to debilitating mommy issues. It’s like saying Marty McFly is a transwoman because she wants to obliterate herself in the incestuous vortex of sex with her mom. Problematic!

I understand the need for representation, but it’s also important to identify what isn’t representation. Evangelion itself is basically just a less-successful version of Michael Bay’s Transformers, but fans - who don’t actually like the show - mentally edit out the satire of fascism, and the part where the protagonist kills Jesus (and so-on), to create an entirely new and distinct series of works.

Not necessarily endorsed, but as a person who is literally simultaneously engaged with ‘death as return to womb’ and ‘death as sex’ and ‘death as union with feminine identity’ (in the context of Egbert at least), the above is something I try to be wary of. The possibility that only a fraction of those things are relevant, I mean, and that their apparent superposition is my failure as a reader.

The first instance (afaik) of Egbert thinking about death and femininity is the shot of wondering whether the mailbox has mail in it (only for it to be scooped by Dad). I read that as the same dysphoria metaphor as Damara (the doll, the body) stealing Rufioh’s ‘happy thought’ -- retrieving the green box from the car is Fiduspawn, is godtiering, is death-rebirth, is suicide, is becoming-yourself. This is why the shot of looking out the window is reused when Egbert meets Vriska.

But I wonder to shift the point of focus to the mailbox, the other instance of John thinking about death in act 1 (gazing at the fireplace below Nanna’s portrait) is dominated by discussion of whether a fire belongs in a fireplace (and whether his voice belongs in his body)(x) -- which makes knocking the ashes out of Nanna’s urn sound like a displaced attempt to exorcise the invading voice? Which perhaps again works as dysphoria for people who dislike their own voices, but I keep getting this nagging sense that I’m focused on the wrong things, regardless of how consistent it sounds (because confirmation bias is real, and I’m very good at thinking I sound convincing!).

I wanted to counter myself with how this could run counter to John’s sexism (eg saying prototyping Jack with the armless girl doll would make him weak) but even that seems to be anticipated in anecdotes like the Dersites discovering that there can be value in an apparently ‘ruined’ crumpled hat. John emerging from a crumpled car to talk with Vriska (and her big red X!) about rejecting the path of aggression becomes linked to Equius’s perverse enjoyment of submission in the prior scene, like there’s this sense that femininity is simultaneously humiliating and desirable? But Equius’s literal loss of breath (feminized corpses) again makes me wonder if I ought to be more focused on like, narrative control in some ill-defined way, especially since John appears to have assumed such control in Seer: Ascend?

Since there is barely anybody that looks at this blog now, imma say some things now that I'll reveal later on Twitter (maybe). Also this is gonna be a long read so you can read if you wanna or not. Its kinda a rant.

I started this blog because I liked Dragon Ball and wanted to share my ideas and things I liked with other fans. I enjoyed that. Krillin is my favorite character so I wanted to show him some love & maybe get more ppl to like him. Then eventually I started drawing nsfw art.

I began doing so because there's a great lack of Krillin positive nsfw art. Eventually on my Twitter, I gathered a following that like to see Krillin getting some love. I also went from sfw with my OC Tobi to drawing nsfw. The problem I have with both is that I don't have time as much to draw what is like to. Nor do I care as much for nsfw art.

So this is what I'm trying to say. I have other things I want to do. I draw for free and accept some requests. I'm not getting paid and I feel like I'm wasting my time somewhat. The positive is that more ppl have come to like Krillin and hopefully more will later. There aren't a lot of nsfw artist that promote Krillin. Its all about Saiyans and I understand why. I like Saiyans too. But its always at the expense of human characters that I like especially Krillin.

I'm seriously tired of it, ya know? Its just such negativity. I've tried to combat it with positivity and that does work but that's not what most ppl seem to care about or see. Krillin means a lot to many of us. Yes, we know he's a fictional character but he's someone we can latch on to and see ourselves in. How he constantly tries hard and doesnt give up despite having low self-esteem. He is very relatable and an encouraging character. So understand that it frustrates me and others when ppl keep making fun of a character we love just because of memes that are very innacurate, he's short, he's married to what most of the fandom consider the most attractive female in the series (so they're jealous of him to an extent), or when ppl downright degrade his character.

Why? Why treat a positive character so negatively? Ppl make fun of Krillin because he has PTSD but won't make fun of Future Trunks. They trash his marriage and make it seem as if 18 doesn't care for him because he has the most stable marriage in the series. They call his daughter an ugly troll but want to see her in hentai with some Saiyan. Such hypocrisy. That's why I've drawn some of the things I have.

There are drawings I've done that I haven't posted because they are so disrespectful to characters like Vegeta or Gohan. And I love Gohan so that's a reason why I never posted them. I'm a positive person but it seems many ppl only respond to negative. So here's what I've done/plan to do.

I have some comics planned to draw along with some pictures. The pictures vary on what they will be, but the comics... Here's what they are.

I will be making NTR comics starring Krillin but he is the main character. There are too many of him being portrayed as a wimp or punk that lets everybody get with 18 besides himself. Or its done behind his back. So I'm going to have Krillin taking other character's ladies from them. Yeah its negative in a way but also positive for Krillin. Maybe this can get the point across to ppl? Idk.

But I will make a comic where Krillin gets Videl, Bulma, & Chichi. I will make others where he gets into "situations" with characters like Kale & Caulifla, Cheelai, & others. I also plan to make a comic about Roshi basically being cucked by Krillin (you'll have to wait and see to understand that one). So that's what I have planned. Hentai comics with Krillin as the lead. Its unpopular and that is why I do it.

I'll make other more positive comics too. Like a comic about Krillin getting advice then marrying 18. Ill draw stories with my OC Tobi as he lives with Krillin and his family & dates Marron. It will focus on the Chestnut family and have father/son moments with Krillin & Tobi. And ill introduce other characters too.

But here's the big thing that contradicts everything I said prior. I don't want to draw DB anymore. The fan base has kinda wore me out but so has the direction the series has gone. In bored of the writing for DBS and it being solely about Goku & Vegeta when there are other characters like Gohan & Piccolo. Its a fighting anime so why would we only want to see 2 characters? God ki was introduced so that's an easy way for everyone to get stronger and involved. But its too corporate now and lazy. And the DBS manga... so terrible. Toyotaro is a much better artist than I am and not to talk bad about him but I think DragonGarowLee is much better for the position that Toyo. DGL knows how to choreograph fights better and understands Toriyama's comedy better. Toyo doesn't know how to write the characters. He makes Goku an uncaring idiot, makes Vegeta a poorly written Goku clone, makes fun of Krillin for no reason except he doesn't like him (seriously! He has called him ugly, weak, scared, useless, & had ppl like Goku and Roshi insult Krillin. Wtf?!), he doesnt know how to create a unique character without ripping off a character Tori has done much better. And the fanboys (& girls)

Gosh! The Vegeta fans are great but they can be crazy sometimes. They ignore all the evil Vegeta has done and ignore his flaws as if he's a perfect angel. Vegeta's flaws is what makes him such an interesting character! And him being different than Goku is a good thing. But there's a weird and false understanding of his character. "Vegeta is a better dad than Goku" sure. Vegeta just knocked up Bulma then left her as. Single mother and didn't care if she or his infant son died, never hugged his son until he was 10+ yrs old & didn't love Bulma until sometime during the 7 yr time skip. He was a terrible person in a terrible relationship! THEN he became a better person and actually loving to his family. That change is what make Vegeta great. Not his power level or how many kills he has or "cool moments."

That same twisted misunderstanding of Vegeta is similar to the misunderstanding of Krillin. Ppl think he's weak and a coward. But he fights aliens & beings stronger than him and even injures stronger opponents. He smiles in the face of danger and even gets excited during fights but is smart enough not to risk others lives. Krillin nearly killed Nappa, he would've finished Vegeta with the Spirit Bomb if Yajirobe didn't alert Vegeta that Krillin was attacking him, smart enough not to fight on Namek when they're outnumbered, took on aliens stronger than him, outsmarted them & escaped, protected both Gohan & Bulma, more skilled than Ginyu when he was in Goku's body, sacrificed his safety for others like Dende & Gohan, (for real tho, Vegeta didn't see 2nd form Freeza move but Krillin was fast enough to throw Dende out of the way and sacrifice his life. Krillin saw Freeza attacking and Vegeta who is supposed to be stronger did not see Freeza move!), he was the first person to actually damage Freeza and then taunted the Emperor of the Universe, he's always there for his friends, knew better than everybody else that if the androids defeated Vegeta & Trunks then he shouldn't get involved. He saved 18 who was innocent in this timeline, helped 16, wished for the bombs out of 17 & 18 so they could live normally. Then fast forward to DBS he fought to protect his family & planet & 18 calls him "cool", he conquers his PTSD and gained new power he always had but laid dormant, he defeated someone who actually hurt 18. & there are things he's done I didn't even mention.

And ppl constantly saying Goku is a bad dad. He's waaaaaaaay better of a father compared to Vegeta if were being honest.

I guess I've seen a lot of the negative side of the fandom and its disappointing. So I'm at a point where I kinda don't care. I'll make my comics but after I'm done with what I have planned, I'm just done with DB. I won't stop drawing entirely but I won't draw any requests unless I feel like it, I won't keep up with much DB news and content. I just want to come back to Tumblr, draw Krillin fanart, draw Tobi, write some rewrites, draw Tobi's story & that's it. Ill be a part of Chestnut Fest every year tho. That is one of the greatest things to come out of my time on Tumblr & Twitter. So big thanks to @chestnutisland!

But basically I'm tired of the fandom and I still enjoy parts of it but I want to do my own thing. So I'll partially be a part of the DB fandom but not in it too deep. Look forward to what I have in store. If some of my future content isn't to your liking, hopefully you ccan find something else I've done that you'll enjoy. But its still been fun & I've enjoyed the ppl I've talked too & friends I've made.

hey anon! i didn’t know if these were two completely separate asks, or both from you. if they were both from you, please remember to ask us whether we’ve received your ask rather than re-sending it! like i’ve said before, it may take a while - mod sun has things going on, and in addition to having a full time job, i’m dealing with a serious illness. the last thing we want to do is ignore you!

that said, either way, i’ll try to answer both of these at once, because the question is so similar. the focus here is on how to find fan content, because that’s what helped me! 

traditionally i’ve dealt with this by way of “storing” content i like, whether in favorites on the relevant sites, in download folders on my computer, or by screenshotting the source material and saving the best moments. that can sometimes make you feel like you don’t have much content, but it also gives you the ability to go through everything you have and enjoy it whenever you like, rather than seeing something you like/something notable and losing access to it later (this has happened to me before, so plan ahead). 

it’s always worth checking foreign-language sites where applicable, too. if your f/o is from a series popular in, say, france, find out the sites where french people like to upload fanart, and search there! for people with anime or manga f/os, pixiv is a very good place to find art. a lot of japanese artists also post on twitter - it’s harder to search, but if you know how to search on tweetdeck, that can really help! also check pixiv profiles for twitter links, as some pixiv artists post more on twitter, and will post things on twitter that never make it to pixiv.

it’s also a good idea to make content, if you can! if you have a certain thing you like to see in fanworks, but don’t seem to see it often, draw it yourself! write about your favorite moments! cover the soundtrack, especially any music related to your f/o! it’s all a great way to increase the total body of things you get to enjoy. your imagination is really great, too! think about all the things you’d like to see, and daydream them vividly!

if you have money, you can commission works of your f/o, or find artists willing to do requests, too. some artists do quick sketches in exchange for ko-fi donations, which are pretty small (the minimum ko-fi donation is $3 USD, but you can donate any multiple of $3 you want). always keep an eye out for artists you like, especially within the community!

ultimately you can’t expand their canon role, which is always quite unfortunate; however, finding, creating, and commissioning fanmade work is a great way to get to see them more!

What Jack has done for me

I started watching Jack about a year ago. At that time I was just wandering around the Internet searching for new shows to watch, trying to discover something that would entertain me just for a little while, since my attention span was really short. At first I was watching Jack's videos irregularly, just for distraction, just to see someone play games I would never get to play. Then "A Normal Lost Phone" series came out and I realized something...I was no longer there just for the gameplay, I stayed because of the person Jack was. I realized that I could watch this sweet man ramble about anything, reaching from hilarious topics to the more serious ones, for hours on end. I adored how humble and down-to-earth he was, how he wasn't afraid to touch on the serious stuff and then actually talk about it afterwards. Jack's words opened my eyes and I could finally see the things that had been far beyond my understanding of the world until then. I began to understand the importance of mental health awareness and how big of an issue mental illness can be. I also learned about the LGBTQ+ community a lot, which helped me to appreciate all of them for the wonderful people they are. Thanks to Jack I'm now more open-minded than I ever was.

With this positivity in mind, my passion for drawing had risen from the dead and I drew my first jse fanart not much longer after that. I discovered the community and instantly fell in love with its kindness. I finally learned to overcome my anxiety and made some real friends here, who help me a lot lately.

At last I would love to say that Jack and the community surrounding him are the spark in the dark that keeps me going. I don't know where I would be if I had to overcome my first real depression alone. I can't imagine what kind of person I might have become without Jack being there to teach me how to be polite and respectful at any given time. All I know is that I want to be the best version of me I can be, that I want to help people as much as possible and make them happy. All of that thanks to one sweet Irishman with a really big heart.
