More filipino tf 141 reader hcs
Yes-- some more HCs because my little Filo heart wants more. Teensy tiny bit of religious themes and a dick joke ahead
If the others call you by your real name– you go by your middle name/mother’s maiden name: Bonifacio. The reason why is that your surname is Batungbakal– and your friend made a dick joke out of it when you were in elementary and you didn’t want to be stuck with that nickname BSHJKSSNMS
The whole Task Force + Los Vaqueros was initially so confused when you pointed at things with your lips. Like– did you want a kiss? Did your mouth hurt?? Gaz was a little embarrassed and flushed about this because he’s a little bean i love him sm gaz my beloved ;^; Soap made a joke about kissing you and you’re just– “NO– i was pointing at the tarmac over there–”
You help Ghost stitch up and fix his masks. He still doesn’t take it off around you, he just wears the extra ones, but allowing you to help mend his masks is a huge and intimate action in itself. And in turn, he helps you make your own mask– like the ones in Red Team 141. The mask is inspired by your callsign, Aswang, with large pointy teeth and a painted tongue. You scared the shit out of the rest of the team the first time you wore it
If you’re sent out on a mission you, Alejandro, and Rodolfo say a little prayer. Sometimes you or one of the two hold onto a rosary as you do so. If you’re not particularly religious– it's just something you do out of habit, especially since growing up, your lola (grandma) made you pray the rosary with her. A safety blanket and a reminder of home if you will.
Being invited to a Carne Asada by the Los Vaqueros. Many of the tios and tias as well as other family members talk to you in Spanish, thinking that you’re an old friend who grew up in Las Almas. You’re not super fluent in it but you know enough to respond– albeit slowly. Alejandro or Rudy have to explain that you’re Filipino. You enjoy it nonetheless! The spicy food may take some getting used to but it makes you feel happy.
Giving TF 141 + Los Vaqueros Filipino nicknames: Soap? It’s either Sabon or Jon-Jon– no exceptions. JM (John MacTavish) if you feel more playful. You still call Gaz by Gaz– but you don’t call him Kyle. You call him Kiel. You’re too scared to call Ghost by a Filipino nickname cos you’re not sure if you’re gonna get dropkicked to the ground or survive the whole ordeal. But if you did– its a special nickname: Simoun (named after the El Fili character cos he’s just as ruthless and mysterious).  Alejandro is Andoy or Anding. There’s no real reason behind it– it’s just how Filipino nicknames work. Rudy is actually similar to the Filipino nickname for Rodolfo. But instead of Rudy its Roddy. Sometimes you call him Dolphy after the Filipino comedian with the same name.  Price remains as Itay or ‘Tay, you care for him that much. But for the Price simps out there, you call him Mahal. It’s a play on words which means “love” but also means “expensive”

NEW AU!!!! CUZ MY BRAIN CANT REST.
so this au is called caged souls, but not literally caged souls 👌
It will be where Pedro and Alma switch (I see that sm and I just wanted to do it tooo) And where gifts switch too!! But only from the grandkids, maybe, I don’t know yet 🤷‍♀️ the timeline is a month after Antonio’s ceremony!
The switches of the gifts:
Isabela = super strength
Luisa = giftless
Mirabel = creation\manipulation plants
Dolores = shapeshifting
Camilo =communicating with animals
Antonio = super hearing
Pedro is mentally unstable in this au, not insane but not good yk, and bc of him it makes it hard for the family. He does have favorites and he doesn’t hide his favoritism at all
The order is =
1- Isabela, why? Cause ofc she looks the most like Alma, Pedro believes that she was a gift from Alma and that she is like an angel from heaven. And her super-strength makes it way more believable for him. Isabela hates the idea of being an replacement for her grandmother but she has no choice. (She mostly gets forced into the role.)
2- Dolores, why? Since age of 7 dolores often turns into Alma for him, she sits in front of him while he talks about a lot of stuff, pretending that he’s talking with the real Alma. Sometimes it can get physically (not in a weird way 💀 but abusive way because she can’t keep her form forever or bc he’s going insane) and Dolores gets told everything from him, ofc she’s forced to keep the secrets a secret. (Dolores hates being her dead grandmother.)
3- Camilo, why? Animals were a thing that Alma loved, he thinks that the connection Camilo has with animals is as close as Alma had with the animals too. The beauty being the nature Camilo and Alma had in common is a blessing for him.
4- Luisa, why? Luisa is a very kind soul, even without a gift she has proven him that she could be much more, that power doesn’t always matter no that it comes from heart. (Just like his Alma.)
5- Antonio, why? He is a bright child, with a bright future, Pedro thinks with his gift he can hear a lot of beautiful sounds, like the waterfalls (the place he would go to with Alma.) or the forest (the hangout spot he made with Alma in the forest.) but Antonio doesn’t quiet reach his eyes yet. As if Antonio still needed to prove himself.
6- and the last, Mirabel. Why? He thinks that Mirabel has NOTHING to do with Alma. (Even if he’s very very wrong) not with the personality, interest, or her gift. Sure she may has a beautiful gift, but creating flowers isn’t as special as planting them. Alma loved flowers for sure but everyone does and she loves unique ones not the basic ones, therefore, Pedro has banned Mirabel from using her gift, seeing it as complete waste.
Mirabel being the last favorite again 🥲 I LOVE HER I SWEAR BUT I JUST GOTTA MIX SOME STUFF UP 😭 also their outfits are a lot different than the original ones, more with jewelry and more detailed, he thinks it’s better if they shine brighter then anyone in town. Any thoughts or asks? 🙌

More Bruno and Alma because GRRRHH I LOVE THEM AND I THINK THEY NEEDED MORE SCREEN TIME
Ahem anyways he is showing her the rat and while she doesn't really like the rats that much, her son is obviously head over heels for them so she makes her best effort to be supportive djfjgj-

i've only scrolled through the encanto tag here for a bit but i'm already relieved that most of the posts that i've seen have been nuanced sentiments on the film's message... or even just coherent discussions on said message.
thank god that the whole "i'm completely disregarding the film's themes on generational trauma in bipoc families specifically colombian families by replacing them with queer and/or ND headcanons" eventually died down, and anyone who continues to do so are called out ,, But even after weeks since the film's release, i'm still subjected to tweets (mostly on local twt) about whether or not alma was the real villain n it's like... susmaryosep when will it END !!!!
#almost feb n ppl r still debating ab that im TIRED#the real villain is generational trauma ppl#alma is a complex n incredibly flawed person whose trauma is valid but her methods in protecting her family arent justified#how she treated her family ESPECIALLY mirabel fucking hurts#but god the ending gives me sm hope idk#n coming from a poc whose familial dynamics share some similarities w d madrigals#alma realizing her faults apologizing n most likely will be putting an effort in improving herself for her family esp bruno & mirabel#is a HUGE deal to me#its why i prefer the hc that she /does/ improve herself like obv it'll be a slow process but wow we love seeing character growth#sorry for ranting ab this n basically not adding anything new to d convo lol#i first watched encanto in dec like most of my mutuals#im relieved that most of us seem 2 share similar thoughts on d film (whether theyre things we liked/connected w or things that bothered us)#dont take this as an 'omg tumblr is SOO much better than twt' take btw 'cause its not lol#ive seen sm great takes ab the film on there too#ao3 is the real enemy here /hj#encanto#abuela alma madrigal#abuela alma madrigal positive#critical#zeph rants#edit: certain that ppl explained this alr but jus wanted 2 clarify that making queer/nd hcs on d madrigals isnt inherently bad#unless ure doing so by mistaking & eradicating cultural practices n mannerisms as 'proof' for ur hcs#despite colombians informing u ab their significance#then fuck you

Okay, but how catgirl is Khajit!Isabela? Like, if Mira is not even recognizable as a furry is Isabela more anime!catgirl or is she full on Tony the Tiger. What about the other Madrigals. Is Luisa mostly cat like her mom? What about Pepas kids? Also How cat are the triplets? Was Pedro a cat or was he The Cat and Abuela was Not Cat? Or were Pedro and Alma both cat? Inquiring minds need to know!
ahhhh catgirls zkndaklnd.kejwfnked
I mean
*clears throat*
thank you so much for this ask anon TT_TT I've been wanting to talk about this idea for a while because I just love he khajiit sm i always play as a khajiit because i'm a shameless furry but it's so silly and self-indulgent I didn't want to be what kids these days call "cringe" BUT since you insist..........
Idk how much you, anon, know about this obscure piece of khajiit lore but I'm explaining everything so that it's clear to everyone else including folks who never played the game.
In summary: the khajiit are an intelligent race of cat people from The Elder Scrolls games. They are most commonly seen as regular people with a cat's head, fur, tail and claws, so, a classical furry, but in reality there are around 16 different "breeds" of khajiit, all of them equally intelligent (iirc) but which vary drastically in appearance. A khajiit person's breed is determined by the combined phases of the two moons (not sure if it depends on the phases of the moons at the moment of their birth or conception). A khajiit may look like the regular furry I just described, or they may look smaller, bigger, have digitigrade or plantigrade legs, they may be bipedal and humanoid or cuadruped and more like a real lion or tiger, they may look indistinguishable of normal housecats, they may look like anime cagirls with a thin layer of fur covering their skin, or they may look like very short elves. More information here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't wanna get too into detail on khajiit lore but these are the basics. This is really just a crack AU born out of my furry brain, but my idea was that khajiit!Alma would try to heavily control when and when her children had kids to pick and choose the "breeds" that were the most useful to the family. For example, the Sanche-Raht is the largest breed, looks lowkey like a lion, and is largely used as a beast of burden by their own people, so if Alma felt the family needed someone to fulfill that role, she'd ask one of her kids to have a child calculating the times and the phases of the moon to guarantee they got the cat they wanted. And that's how Luisa was born :D It's horrible and fucked up and that's why I love it. Mirabel just happened to be born an Ohmes, which is the breed that looks indistinguishable from a very short elf (I'm thinking she's just about the same height as she is in canon). However, as a baby she somehow got separated from her family, and grew up not knowing she was khajiit at all, thinking she was an orphan, homeless wood elf (bosmer) who just happened to have legendary stealth and acrobatics levels.
The happy ending would be Mirabel discovering she's a khajiit and reuniting with her family uwu and if Alma could stop treating her children and grandchildren in such a gross way it would be great.
I imagine Alma might have left Elsweyr, the khajiit homeland, shortly after the birth of her children and moved to the Blackwood region in southern Cyrodiil, which is mostly populated by humans iirc. So she's trying to raise a family on her own in a world that is hostile to them. I also imagine that, while she pressured both of her daughters to have children on certain specific times, only Julieta could fulfill her demands and only during her first two pregnancies (roughly). Pepa kinda ended up in shouting matches with her because the cruel stress of calculating such things as the conception and times of birth of her children was driving her insane and and never managed to have the kids Alma wanted. She still loved them of course, but Isabela and Luisa were always her favorites.
Ok ok but you asked about the other characters' khajiit types yeah. Ok this is what I got so far:
(disclaimer i am no khajiit expert, so if any lore information is wrong feel free to correct me).
Isabela: Cathay. Bipedal, humanoid, same height as the average human. Plantigrade legs. They have a tail, fur and a cat-light head. Regular furry. The cat you play as in Skyrim and Oblivion and the most common kind outside of Elsweyr. I imagine Alma wanted a first grandchild that was perfectly balanced: not intimidating and difficult to raise outside of Elsweyr, but still cat-like enough. She has a bit of a bias towards what is and isn't "khajiit enough". To Alma, Isabela was a perfect success.
Luisa: Alma wanted a Sanche-Raht, a ridiculously large breed of khajiit, which is usually ridden into battle and used as a beast of burden, but Julieta gave her a Pahmar instead, which has roughly the same size and appearance of a normal tiger. Quadruped and all. Though imperfect, Alma thought she could still find her some use, and Luisa works REALLY HARD to prove her worth, often pushing herself beyond her limits. She often feels like she's not good enough even though she's the largest and strongest member of her family. Big kitty.
Alma: Cathay. Ahhh see this is why she wanted Isabela to be a Cathay this woman can be vile sometimes.
Pepa and Julieta: Listing them together because they're twins. They're Ohmes-Raht. Now this is what I mean when I say "catgirls", though in this case they're more like catmilfs. The Ohmes-Raht is a bit shorter than humans, has plantigrade legs, an elf or human like face, possibly cat-like ears, a tail, and a thin layer of fur covering their entire body. So like, also like a furry. This is irrelevant but I imagine Julieta does that thing that cats do, licking her kids' faces giving big gross mama cat kisses that feel like she's rubbing sandpaper against your cheek. But she does it out of love!
Bruno: Alfiq. ok this is the interesting part. In this AU let's say a khajiit's breed is determined by the moons on the moment of their birth rather than conception, as it was never specified in canon iirc. And let's say Bruno was born quite some time after his twin sisters, like a bunch of hours later idk. Long enough for the phases of the moon to change juuuuuust enough and Oh No Secunda is on its full moon phase and now he's stuck as a housecat while his sisters got to be big humanoids with opposable thumbs! This is a 50 year old man in the body of a scrawny black cat and it gave him HUGE self-esteem issues through his life. Now, of course, he's Not Around™ so his youngest niblings may assume he wasn't an Alfiq from the way in which the rest of the family talks about him (when they do talk). So, he has super stealth abilities. As long as he nakey (cos Alfiq usually wear clothes made for them) he can pass as a regular cat and no one would notice. Great for a surprise reveal of some kind.
Agustín and Félix: listing them together because they are not indeed khajiit. They're two cute 50 year old human bois. Félix is redguard and Agustín is imperial. Now khajiit and humans having family together is rare sure but not entirely unheard of. I think. This is an AU anyway I do whatever I want. Anyway, in The Elder Scrolls, when two parents of diferent fantasy races have a kid, the kid always inherits the race of the mother but with a few physical traits from the father. So, for example, with Julieta being Khajiit all of her kids are 100% khajiit, not "half khajiit" because they have a human father, but one of his kids could inherit his impaired vision. So I'm having that in mind when deciding these things. As for Félix and Agustín's story, the idea is that they were both sorta outsiders, but Félix earned his place in the family a lot more easily than Agustín, because he was born and raised in Blackwood and knew Alma's family since he was a little kid, was childhood friends with the triplets and always helped them out when he could, so Alma liked him a lot and was very happy to hear Pepa wanted to marry him. Agustín, on the other hand, comes from the Imperial City, and he was idk a scholar of sorts, maybe a historian. And he doesn't act very Blackwood he's a very Imperial City kind of guy. He's nice but he was very clearly not made for the swamps of southern Cyrodiil and if Julieta wasn't so well-versed in restoration magic and alchemy this poor man would be super dead. Butttttt she still wanted to marry him, and Alma couldn't say no ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Dolores: Suthay-raht. Idk I just think it'd fit her. They're slightly shorter than Cathay and have digitigrade legs. Kinda to show she was ALMOST as good as Isabela but didn't quite get there and forever lives in her shadow. I get the feeling Suthay-rhat may be slightly better at stealth than Cathay because of their legs so there's that as symbolism.
Camilo: Tojay-Raht. Bipedal and slightly smaller than Cathay. Still regular furry without anything crazy. I hear that they're great tree climbers and I think Camilo could cause a lot of mischief with such great levels on acrobatics.
Antonio: Suthay. Basically just suthay-raht but a tiny bit smaller. Cat head, cat tail, cat fur, lil cat feet. Still taller than Tojay-Raht. I just think it'd be really funny if Camilo ended up being the shortest one out of his siblings.
Mirabel: Ohmes. The Ohmes is oddly enough my favorite kind of khajiit, because there's so much you can do with the idea that they don't look like khajiit at all. They look more like wood elves. They're also short and thus imo very cute. They usually paint and/or tattoo their faces to have more cat-like feautures and look more like the rest of their people, but Mirabel in this AU never got to do that, because she was separated from her family at such a young age. She doesn't even KNOW she's a secret furry. I think Alma might have asked Julieta to have another Cathay or succeed at having a Sanche-Raht, but Mirabel was born too early and ended up looking nothing like what Alma expected. Now, I don't think for a second that Alma would have given her away because she didn't live up to expectations. She has a rough heart but it's not so rough ;-; in fact I don't know how she gets separated from her family, exactly, but it would be very interesting if it was indirectly, accidently, Alma's fault. Or if Alma felt guilty even if she did nothing, if she felt guilty over "wishing she were different" so much that she disappeared. Mirabel ended up growing far away from Blackwood in the Imperial City, possibly under the care of the Thieves' Guild? Her family has been looking for her for fifteen years.
BONUS: Pedro: I imagine he was Cathay-Raht. Like a Cathay, but larger and stronger. He probably made Alma feel so protected and safe. Eventually, he showed her one last act of heroism, and then he was gone forever.
Ngl I worry this is silly and dumb lmao watch me come up with a furry AU based on obscure khajiit lore only me and like 3 other people care about. Plus there's the matter of the khajiit being a racist caricature of romani people and the implications of that and the question of what we as fans should do with them in fanwork now. As for the idea of "dehumanizing POC characters", idk as a POC (or what anglos consider POC, because the term is rather derogatory where I live) and a casual furry I think we deserve to have to have POC furries. dunno if i'd trust a white person to make them tho. Maybe? if they know what they're doing? But how do you even measure that. Whover wrote the Khajiit Like That in the games clearly didn't. Ah I don't know. I just like my latin american catgirls and I hope to handle them in a way that doesn't play into the racist origins of the khajiit, because, what, are we never gonna play as khajiit in the games again? Hopefully there's an ethical way to handle the khajiit in fandom, and I think aknowledging the racism in the games in a good first step. I still kinda worry that it makes no sense, like ok those names are not the names you find in the elder scrolls lol. Mmmmmmaybe Antonio, Félix and perhaps Mirabel may be able to pass as imperial (latin) names but others like Alma or Dolores are wayyy to hispanic and that's where we have to suspend our disbelief a little because this is really just my very dumb, very self-indulgent little furry AU.
Thank you sm for this ask anon! It took me like an hour to write down the full reply but yeah this is what I got so far and I had a lot of fun figuring out who was what :D

OK, question time!
Back in med school, it was well known that many students admired Ethan Ramsey’s work (Marchia included). Now she attends a medical school alumni reunion at her alma matter. And everybody knows that Marchia and Ethan are dating/engaged/married. What’s their former classmates’ reaction when they see her? Do they gossip about it? Do they treat her differently? Does Ethan attend the event as her plus one or does Marchia attend by herself because plus ones are not allowed?
Aaaaah hello there, my sweetest friend! 🤍
First of all, let me apologize for getting back so late. I'm honored that you took the time to send me these for my babies 🥺 I appreciate and love you so much, girl!
Those are some interesting and juicy questions, ma'am 👀 I'll answer it below the break
Okay, alumni gatherings / reunion are so juicy alksnalknsdklnsdklsndjksnd. Of course, the reunion allowed plus-ones, so imagine the sheer hype once everybody knows that the Ethan Ramsey is attending the event... along with their fellow classmate, Marchia Bisognin.
Bear in mind, Marchia was not really the social butterfly type back then in college and med school. She had some friends, sure, but she wasn't the it-girl. She excels at her classes, made some real and good friends, and that's about it. So when Marchia came to the event as Ethan's wife.... oof boy. People were staring.
Some might not even remember that Marchia even went to the same class with them. Not their fault, really, because she never wanted to make friends that had no real connection. And of course, everyone gossip about them now, excluding her closest friends in med school, because they knew Marchia and Ethan's story.
Throughout the event, most of them was trying to smooch up / kiss ass. They want to get on Marchia's good graces. Nothing wrong with that, Marchia’s polite enough to follow through the conversation and everything, but she won’t likely follow up on them. Some of them even gathered up enough courage to talk to Ethan themselves. It was quite a sight for Marchia, because she knew her husband well enough to know the snarky / cold remakrs he would make lol
All in all, it was definitely an interesting night for them! Ethan made sure no one was able to insult or discredit Marchia, because:

Phantom Thread (2017)
“What precisely is the nature of my game?”
Tumblr media
That Phantom Thread would become Daniel Day-Lewis’s last achievement is no longer hot off the press. Reviewers also shouted out their praise about his performance as Mr. Woodcosck, so the brilliance of his performance is probably not news either.
Yet I’ll say it again: Phantom Thread is the icing on the cake of Day-Lewis' oeuvre, the lace finish on a sublime dress, the final button on the perfect sleeve.
But let’s be honest: he plays a complete and utter asshole. Woodcock is the type of man who already on the first date tells a woman that her breasts are too small. And when she replies "I know. Sorry," he responds without flinching:" No problem. It's my job to give you breasts ... if I feel like it. "
Mr. Woodcock is one of the most prominent fashion designers in post-war London in the 1950s. Following a common, but quite often true cliche about artists, Woodcock is also a tortured artistic “genius” who is willing to tinker on his countless sublime creations day and night, in eternal chase of perfection even if hurts himself and those around him.
Woodcock, not only makes high demands on his dresses, but his entire household also has to conform to his many rituals. Nothing can deviate from the normal course of events: tea is brought to you at specific times, asparagus is made with butter - not with oil and salt - and if you dare to disturb him during breakfast by too loudly spreading your butter, you can expect Woodcock's merciless, destructive anger.
Tumblr media
This is the most likely fate for Alma (Vicky Krieps): angry glances at breakfast, painful, awkward silences and finally the intervention of Cyril (Lesley Manville), who will tell her to leave the house.
After all, this happens every time Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) takes a woman home. The rigid Reynolds is an incurable bachelor who never lasts long with any of his conquests. His work stands above everything else. Together with his sister Cyril, he runs the fashion house House of Woodcock; he is a couturier, she the business brain.
Alma meets Reynolds in a hotel by the sea, where she works as a waitress. Her interest is awakened by his *cough* “appetite”, he sees her as a muse with the ideal measurements. Alma is certain that Reynolds is not the strong man he pretends to be. She only needs to find and assess his weak spots.
Tumblr media
Reynolds is a genius in his work, but also the biggest nitpicker in the world and not only in his work: he also expects pure perfection from the people who love him. Anyone who dares to deviate once he punishes.
His last name does perhaps not by coincidence coincide with Tom Cruise's battle cry from Magnolia: "Respect the cock!" Because Woodcock is also an alpha male in his own way: he thinks himself the center and master of the universe, at least his universe. But fortunately, his new muse Alma (Vicky Krieps) has arrived to change that - in a deliciously kinky way.
Until now there was little room for love in Woodcock's house. Girls came and went: they acted as a mannequin and companionship, but they were routinely dispatched by Woodcock's sister, Cyril, once he got bored with them.
The only woman in his life is his deceased mother, who taught him his trade and whose lock of hair he wears in the lining of his vest. That a romantic relationship still develops between the idiosyncratic Alma and Mr. Woodcock is, therefore, a surprise for everyone.
Somewhere halfway through Phantom Thread, something truly interesting happens: when Woodcock is about to get rid of Alma, once the magic has ended for him, the girl reacts differently than the women who came before her. She fights back, she protests, something that was unthinkable to him as for him a woman had to look pretty and preferably be quiet while she does that.
She transformed from a passive girl into a rebellious woman. And just like the caterpillar that turns out to be a graceful butterfly, her perspective also becomes a lot more attractive and interesting to us. Where she used to do everything to desperately please her lover, she gradually claims a place in the spotlights for herself. The roles are reversed. And as Alma had rightly assessed,  Woodcock is really not that unwavering at all.
I wanted to have you to myself. You have me all the time. No! What are you talking about? I don’t! I… there… There are always people around. And if not, then there’s something between us. Something between us? Yes. What? Some… What? Distance! When did this happen? What happened to make you behave like this? Is it because you think I don’t need you? Yes. I don’t. Why that’s very predictable of you. Don’t act so tough. I know you are not
With Phantom Thread, Paul Thomas Anderson works out what he started with The Master (2012), his film about sect leader Ron Hubbard. And just as The Master didn’t deal with Scientology, Phantom Thread isn’t about fashion. Reynolds sketches at breakfast jots down a bust size and that's enough.
How vulnerable is a guru, is his question. To what extent does he put his own soul at stake? Just like in The Master, Phantom Thread a deviant follower presents themselves: the young woman Alma.
Different is that she has no history, not a hint of a background (we only know for sure she is from Eastern Europe) She meets him by chance. Moved by his own emotion, the fashion king decides to keep her as the umpteenth throw-away beauty. Or so he thought. But he is mistaken, as 'the master' was mistaken.
Reynolds gets his charisma from actor Daniel Day-Lewis in what is supposed to be the last film role of his career. I hope not, but let's assume that he means it. Then this is a farewell with a bang. Of course, he took sewing lessons for a year and can now make dresses like the best, that’s the sort of thing he always does.
More exciting is that he plays Reynolds with a subtle, fragility and vulnerability that is hidden behind a facade of what seems like impenetrable toughness, but can be broken through by the right woman.
When Alma tells him that she finds him a beautiful man, he rewards her with a smile. His narrow lips tremble as if they suddenly remembered what that was like, a kiss. That he keeps their relationship carefully platonic, is not surprising.
Luxembourgian actress, Vicky Krieps, who plays Alma, does anything but disappear as femme fatale in Daniel Day-Lewis’s shadow.
Just as she turns Woodcock's life upside down, she also knocks the viewer out with her mercilessly unpredictable, refreshing performance. Alma challenges Reynolds, threatens to knock him off his pedestal, punctures his swollen ego with his own needle. And strangely enough, that’s exactly what he was looking for.
Thus Anderson conjures up an immensely fascinating power game between man and woman on the screen. A sort of SM without whips, a hundred times more exciting than all the three Fifty Shades movies together.
It mainly takes place indoors and apparently little is at stake. Yet Anderson knows how to bring grandness, to this rush-driven power struggle between two stubborn lovers. He shows that sometimes within every relationship there’s a war, complete with attack tactics and shifting lines.
And all that with a sense of pure beauty that Reynolds Woodcock himself could learn from. Phantom Thread is the epitome of elegance, an endless succession of stylish costumes, decors and camera movements. Sewn together by the enchanting music of Jonny Greenwood.
The phantom thread is the phantom pain of the fashion designer. it’s the “ghost thread” the connection between him and Alma, that means the end of his power. That ghost image threatens every guru - in 'thread' 'threat' is also hidden. That threat will soon become real he knows it and we feel it. But how?
The key that Paul Thomas Anderson gives us is the green bridal dress. Reynolds designed it for an old heiress who is marrying probably for the seventh time or so. At the wedding party, the drunken bride falls with her head into her plate and no one pays her any attention, no one has even seen it. Except for Alma. She watches and cries.
You’d think out of pity for that overly rich woman and her heartbreaking redundancy. But no. Alma is crying for the dress. She is not worth it, she wails, we have to get it back! Moments later, in a merciless scene, she takes the dress off of the lavish bride and runs off into the London night with it. Reynolds runs after her. His answer? One of the only passionate kisses of the entire film.
Tumblr media
Call me cynical, but that’s calculation (which indeed makes her a femme fatale, as I previously called her, nonetheless one that acts out of true love). Through this seemingly hysterical action, Alma finally has unlocked what she wanted all along his love: permanent access to his bed, heart, and mind, in other words, all of him completely.
But she also entirely gives herself to him in return. So if their love resembles a war, which I’ve previously compared it to the balance or ceasefire they achieve, is through each, in turn, surrendering to the other.
Through the trick with the green wedding dress, Alma conquered his body. Now his mind is still left. Another ruse, also with a wedding gown, a white lace one that pushes her breasts up, in almost strategic seduction, as if they were lying on a tray like the food Reynolds is such a lover of.
A mistake. Reynolds becomes very ill. His time is over and he knows it. He faints, takes the dress down with him, the powerless sleeves don’t catch him in his fall.
Alma is ready and plays with him a sinister game, hide-and-seek with death. This is horror without blood and Alma determines the rules. He knows this woman has him twisted around her finger. But what’s more, Reynolds is willing to play. They’re absolutely each other’s “sickly” match.
Who is she? The only thing we know about her, we realize, is that she likes to cook with mushrooms.

Alma's stuff is locked down and has been for as long as I can remember. Fans don't have access to Alma's sm or Cara's sm (that I know of). Also, as Tessa has said "the Moirs are my family too." Alma would't do that to her. I know it in my heart.
Someone on another tumblr said it turned out to be a fake account? Not totally confirmed since her real twitter account is private. I really don’t think Alma is that petty to do something like that though or to care to do so unless T really did something wrong (which I doubt). She loves T so much!
then if it's a fake account why do charlie and sheri and danielle follow it i'm assuming alma has 2 accounts then
lol that account follows 2 fans obvs not the real one. also they retweeted the gerry d skit lol gee i wonder how [redacted] feels about that?

Camren e o marketing
*I Know You Did Last Summer

Sexuality in Color: The Foundations of Gynecology
Today, we talk about history, and the ways in which it can be complicated. This isn't news for queer and trans people of color — the fact that our experiences and communities are built on historical tragedies and injustices is deeply rooted within our bodies and our daily interactions. Often we can't turn around without being reminded of the ways in which intersecting oppressions weave together to create the systems that govern our lives.
But today I write as someone with a passion for comprehensive sex education, reproductive health access, and health literacy. I love my fields and the work that I do more than anything, and I think that everyone should care about it as much as I do. But my love for talking about clitorises, IUDs, yoga mats, therapy appointments, condoms, and porn can't stop there — I also have a responsibility as an educator to talk about the ways in which my work is built on some incredibly problematic and unethical foundations.
Enter J. Marion Sims, M.D.
J. Marion Sims was a doctor who practiced medicine in the 1840s in Montgomery, Alabama. He is widely considered to be the "father of modern gynecology" due to the treatments he developed to help repair damage to the rectum and vagina that often happened after traumatic childbirth. He is responsible for inventing the precursor to the modern vaginal speculum, and created several new effective surgical interventions, but the way he did it was far from ethical — he experimented on enslaved women.
Between 1845 and 1849, Sims operated on a group of 10 enslaved people who had been "lent" to him under the condition that their owners pay for their clothing and food in exchange for medical care. In his writings, he only named three of them — Anarcha, Lucy, and Betsey. He performed dozens of surgeries on these women, often under observation by other doctors and surgeons. To the left, you'll see one of the most famous depictions of this, in which one of the women is sitting on a table, eyes cast downwards, surrounded by men (including Sims himself). Two other women peek around a sheet that has been set up to create the "observation room."
Sims insisted he got consent from the women, and that he only wanted to improve their quality of life, but these statements have to be put into context. These women were enslaved people, and considered to be property. A surgeon asking if you'd be willing to undergo a medical experiment when a slaveholder has handed you to him for the purpose of experimentation is a far cry from the empowered, capable, informed consent that we strive to obtain in modern-day treatment settings.
What's worse, he did so without the use of anesthesia. There is some debate about whether that was an intentional, racism-based choice, or just a fact of the time period, in which anesthesia was not commonly used, but we cannot deny that these enslaved people were denied their basic rights to liberty, autonomy, and privacy, much less the quality and ethics of modern-day gynecological care. During the late 1800's, it was a widely-held belief that black bodies felt less pain than white ones did, a belief that wasn't based on anything other than white supremacy thinly veiled as pseudoscience. Unfortunately, this belief has been sustained throughout the centuries, and while it and other bigoted attitudes becoming less overt, they remain in common unconscious bias. This translates into real, everyday consequences, especially when those who have the unconscious biases maintain powerful positions in universal societal structures like the field of medicine. A study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in 2016 showed that of the 418 medical students interviewed, the ones that held false beliefs about biological differences between the races were more likely to rate black patients' pain as lower than white patients'. These toxic underlying beliefs lead to black patients getting worse quality of care, including less pain medication than their white counterparts.
NPR did a piece on this dark history in 2016 in which medical historian Vanessa Gamble and poet Bettina Judd discussed the ways Sims's behavior and discoveries shaped gynecology and the wider practice of medicine for better or for worse. Stories like the ones that Judd share help me to think about the ways historical events like this have affected how the bodies and sexualities of people of color are perceived and treated. They also push me to try to ground my work in a constant effort to try to understand more, to engage more, and to fight against historical oppression and silencing of women and trans folks of color.
Earlier this year, some of the folks over at Black Youth Project 100, in an act of symbolism and solidarity, protested in stained surgical gowns in front of the statue of J. Marion Sims across the street from the New York Academy of Medicine, one of several that honor his accomplishments in his hometowns and alma maters. They want justice for the women who were unethically treated in all areas of life, whose bodies and pain gave way to the modern advancements in medical technology that have grown to improve and save the lives of so many others. I am grateful for the work they do to raise awareness about these issues, and for the reaffirmation that it gives me about my own commitment to reflect on the complicated histories of sex and sexuality work while striving to create more transparent and accessible futures.
