i cant stand cloud/tifa because all the interesting things abt their dynamic completely loses what makes it so good if they start dating. the whole thing that created problems between them is that they both wanted cloud to be somebody he wasnt and that culminates in tifa hesitating in a way that endangers cloud later and leads to her subverting the damsel in distress troupe that she saw herself as and resucing Him the way she had dreamed of for herself and i think both of them realizing they are simply romantically incompatable is a way stronger narrative than "and then they realized they were always in love still ❤" and also in advent children (great movie) they basically directly address that both cloud and tifas ways of handling things emotionally are polar opposites and they just Inherently clash in that way, and the fact is that cloud cant simply Be Healed by tifa because grief and guilt just cant be wiped away by someone else but clotis are like wow ❤ i love when women fix broken men ❤ also cloud is gay and his interest in women being primarily and basically exclusively shown during his Haha Im A Cool Macho Solider Guy Who Loves Women Aha trauma persona and the aforementioned wanting to be someone he wasnt but tune in to my essay about that another time

Hey!I just wanted to say as someone whose been a fan of The Hunger Games since the movies came out and I had the chance to read the books I love your takes on them.I have to be honest I don't really care much about shipping in the books I mean I love both the idea of Peeta/Katniss and Katniss/Gale but the execution...just wasn't the best in my opinion.I wouldn't have mind if K/G had ended up as friends I just really dislike how Gale's character was handled in the last book(cont part 2)

I don't ship much in THG fandom either, and I personally can't stand Peeta/Katniss together romantically, but I would have taken Katniss and Gale just being friends at the end if it mean that they would not have been separated the way they were. I've talked about how Gale's character and relationship with Katniss became inconsistent and started to degrade by the third book, and I think a lot of that was due to the author wanting to lean into Gale and Peeta being narrative foils for each other, but you're right, that only does a disservice to them, and to Gale in particular. Because it comes off as condemning Gale and villainizing him for his reasons for fighting the war, which are all justified. You can't try to say peace is better than anger, when for change to happen, anger is necessary to gain peace, smh... Yeah! The movies did influence the fandom, the films glossed over and sanitized a lot of the book's "intense" themes, and focused too much on the romance and not on "starving people and killing children are bad." Plus the lack of diversity, and I do agree that the fandom would probably become even more awful if they had correctly cast everyone. There is a lot if inherent racism in the books themselves and in the fandom, and I can just imagine how much worse the hate against certain characters would be if they were properly cast. I have read tbosas and I liked it, but it still has problems. I don't expect the movies to be any better than THG movies, but that's what it is, lol. And I'd say we were lucky to get such a pretty good adaptation as it was. I certainly wish for another adaptation one day. And yeah. One of my issues with the ending was that it felt rushed and inconsistent, it's a major time skip, and we never learn anything about Katniss's life anymore except that she has kids and is still struggling to cope, and that it took her a long time to even agree to have the children, which is?? It slaps of the author wanting this particular ending even though it isn't one that was a fitting end. So it was just shoehorned in at the end, "oh, Katniss has the kids she was never sure about wanting to have and she and Peeta live happily ever after even though she still has issues" I think the reason why it feels off is because it was a handwave to wrap things up according the author's idea of correctness, and pander to her favorite pairing. Because if anyone cares to explore it deeper, it would fall apart.

This is really not such a hot take so much as a statement of confused feelings from someone just getting into the fandom, but while I really REALLY hate Megatron normally, I don't know how to feel about the pairing of megastar when the content creators alter things so that they've always been nice (or at least decent even if they argue sometimes) to each other in the past. Like, I'm often torn between "aaawww it's nice to see a world where things are different" and "but that's not how it happened??I feel weird now???" I don't want those content creators to change anything, this isn't, like, vagueposting or anything. It just seems like anyone who has an opinion about it at large either loves the pairing or hates it, and I don't see many thoughts about alternate versions where "what if they respected each other, actually". Just kinda wanted your thoughts on it?

I’m going to kinda divide my thought in continuity so! 

I think the only Megastar that I would want to see in canon and absolutely support is Shattered glass Megastar lol. A universe where they are not complete assholes to each other and their relationship is not toxic to downright abusive !? Hell yeah sign me up for this! (Once I actually dreamed that I caught them making out in the command center but they were so engrossed in each other they didn’t notice me and I just sat there awkwardly)

My feelings about tfp and idw Megastar are pretty much the same. Megatron is abusive piece of shit that has crushed and damaged Starscream so that it breaks my heart. I would rather take a swan dive in an active volcano than see these two together.

G1 cartoon Megastar is the one where my like and dislike for the ship depends entirely on how I decide to interpret their interactions. On one hand you can look at it as an old married couple that bickers all the time and sometimes might get physical but no one is ever hurt (bc noone gets hurt in an 80s cartoon) and it’s like these relationships where the partners look and sound as if they hate each other’s guts but in reality they just show affection through insults. And the other way to interpret Megatron and Starscream’s interactions is to take them seriously and remove the silliness of the cartoon and things star to look a bit like idw and prime. And I’ve read btoh interpretations in fanfics.

And this leads me to fanon Megastar. I have to agree with you that most of the fan content for the ship definitely takes place in an AU where they don’t hate each other so much that they are actively trying to kill the other. And I honestly would love and prefer to see a universe whether canon of fanon where they respect each other and listen to each other even if they still argue. Like imagine a reality where Megatron and Starscream worked together and their relationship wasn’t a toxic mess. They would be an unstoppable power couple and the Autobots would have lost pretty early in the war if you ask me.

So again I think part of the people who like Megastar like the potential and what it could’ve been and not what it is in canon.

So in conclusion Anon I absolutely understand your mixed feelings on Megastar bc same hat. I would absolutely love to see a canon where Megan and Star have at least semi functional relationship.

One last thing: reading and writing an abusive relationship is not wrong as long as you acknowledge how harmful and damaging it is for the victims and don’t try to romanticize it. Also there is a big difference between BDSM and abuse and the two shouldn’t be confused

Long story short his dad is an idiot.

(edit: this story ended up not being short, I’m so sorry this is long as hell)

Rajai (the shared dad) loves Daz and his wife with all his heart, he really does, but he kinda sucks at showing it. As a plus, Tari’s mom disappearing with their kid (a kid he was very excited and happy about having mind you) left a very lasting impression on him, and that’s something he’s probably never gonna be able to let go of.

To top it all of for poor Dazari btoh his parents have Expectations - mom is a priest and dad is a prelate (both under Rezan, who is alive in my fanon because yes), they rank pretty high up in both their areas, and they have a similar idea on what it means to be Zandalari that may or may not be kinda weird, and they really were expecting Daz to turn up like them.

Needless to say he did not, Dazari is a very gentle soul with a passion for the ocean and sea life who always liked playing on the beach and talking to the fish more than any priestly teachings and who would never willingly raise a hand against anyone.

His mom came to terms with the fact Daz was his own person and different from her and Rajai pretty early on and she never held any of that against him, Rajai still has a ways to go. He’s gotten much better at managing his expectations but he finds it hard to connect with Daz and his interests seeing as their almost stark contrasts to his.

He was excited when Daz showed sparks of shaman power and he was very proud when he was taken as an apprentice by an older shaman (one of Rajai’s closest friends actually, and very respected in his craft), but again, he had no idea how to let Dazari know that so he didn’t.

(It would probably help if he actually made an effort to try and talk to Daz about things but y’know. His bloodline is cursed with not talking about things apparently. Tari got that too as we know)

To top it all off Rajai’s relationship with his wife is very, very weird. Again the fact Tari’s mom stole his kid and disappeared without so much as leaving a note messed him up, added with the fact he liked her a whole lot and was never able to tell her that, even though he loves his wife very much he doesn’t know how to deal with the feelings that Tari’s mom left behind. It’s been two decades and he still hasn’t let anything go, and his wife knows that, and it’s extra frustrating for her because she also knew Tari’s mom and she knows the mark she left on him. She doesn’t know how to approach him about the issue, so she just kinda let go, and the result is that they grew distant.

When Dazari was born she was both part excited and terrified, because she had always wanted to be a mother but a part of her was terrified of Rajai projecting his loss onto lil Daz and that was probably what caused the biggest rift between them (all three of them actually), it took years until she was able to relax enough to let Daz hang out with his dad on his own. She also expected that having Daz would help Rajai get over Tari and his mom but seeing as that never happened, she started resenting both of them.

There’s another rock in that road. The old shaman who taught Daz had two daughters (Zai and Dinah), and what he and Rajai did was kind of an exchange. The shaman taught Dazari in the shamanistic arts, and Rajai was already teaching Dinah on the ways of being a prelate (she’s a couple years older than Daz). The three grew up together and the twins’ parents are a very big contrast to Dazari’s parents, and Daz could clearly see that, and it hurt him way before he was even old enough to understand what was wrong.

Which lead to where we are now. Nowadays Daz only goes to see his parents when he really has to, because it’s tough living with people who make you feel like everything you do is a disappointment. 

Meeting Tari and then later finding out they were related also led to another rocky road because in Dazari’s eye Tari is everything Rajai expected of him (he is very much not). Currently they’re trying to figure out how to deal with that.

Tari will have a heart to heart with their shared dad eventually, let’s hope it ends well for all parties involved :)

(Fun fact, Rajai named both the lads after Expectations - Dazari is literally named after the first Zandalari king ((just added an i at the end)), Tari is a more subtle nod at the Rastari, who are the big dicks of Zandalari law)

Why you two work well!!

So for one thing I think you guys would work well because based on the fact that you have that thirst of knowledge and you’re an INTP makes it a pretty nice-ish pairing with Oikawa? Okay this is whack but hear me out lol, despite the fact that most INTP’s are very shy and they’re not one to put themselves out there for a relationship, I think you’d probably have something intriguing enough for someone like Oikawa, who spends most of his time with volleyball, to seek you out. When you guys are dating, I think there will come a mutual understanding that Oikawa loves volleyball but you’re able to be communicative with him aboutyour needs and wants out of a relationship. It also says on the INTP page LOL, that those crazy romantic gestures are unimportant for those with the INTP personality type, so it works out that Oikawa may not always have the time for that anyway. Of course, you’d still have some extravagent date nights every now and then but I think it just works with how busy Oikawa is but you’re also understanding and would want to support him. Plus even you have your own goals and ya know, you both support each other.

how you two get together

so this may be on the shorter side

but i like to think that mayhaps you were in the library trying to find some booksto read

for this time particularly, you wanted to look into astronomy

ah but there’s these other two guys there too

one who’s trying to talk about finding books on alien sightings

and the other who keeps calling him “shittykawa” 

this happens for a while

the three of you guys just are always in the same area 

there was never really an excuse for either of them to talk to you

but you did find one of the attractive (oikawa)

however you did realize that that was the pretty boy heartthrob of Aoba Johsai 

even if you didn’t go to his school 

so you definitely didn’t want to get caught up with the likes of him. who wants to get their heart broken anyway?

but one of those times you’re at the library, there’s a book that the two of you happen to go for at the same time (you notice his other friend isn’t there)

you simply offer it to him and say that you’ll read something else

but he shakes his head and with that award winning smile of his he just says “let’s read it together.” he kinda trying to be a flirt lmaaaooo 

the two of you introduce yourself to each other

and once you’re both done with the book and you have to head home he walks with you to the train station 

it sorta becomes tradition

and it’s how you get to know him beyond his uh pretty boy heartthrob personality that people talk about 

of course you were wary at first

but when he started nerding out about volleyball and aliens being real

yeah, no, he’s a bit of a loser 

you guys get really close after that and it’s because of how you’re supportive of his volleyball endeavors (not so much for his “aliens are real endeavors”) and yet still caring, that you kinda stand out

you met iwaizumi because of him and it’s also because of iwaizumi  that you found out oikawa pushes himself too hard 

so you do an accumulation of small things to remind oikwaa to take care of himself 

that he can’t become the best if he doesn’t 

you become one of the special people in his life, and he doesn’t have a lot of special people either 

but then he’s like shit

you’re a different kind of special 

so he spends a little bit more time with you because, as he says it, “it’s either i hang out with you, or i overwork myself practicing. and i don’t want to hang out with iwa-chan cus he’s just mean”

i mean it makes sense though and maybe you want to think it’s cus he likes you but you don’t want to bet on that. don’t want your heart broke

but it’s on one of the nights that you guys are hanging out, doing something simple maybe just hanging in his room and he’s watching some volleyball games while you’re practicing some sketches in your sketchbook

he becomes ever so slightly more vulnerable with you 

talks about his plans for the future after high school

and to his surprise you’re supportive

even if it means he might be leaving the country

and he impulsively confesses

which kinda surprises you but it works well 

but you easily reciprocate said feelings and even when the relationship becomes long distance, it works because you both want it to.

For BNHA: I ship you with midoriya izuku! and I know I know it’s kinda funny to me too that it’s like oikawa in one and then midoriya in the other BUT I THINK IT WORKS.

why you two work well!!

Deku’s always one to learn about the people around him, ways he can implement how other heroes fight to how he can fight. Deku’s just extremely smart and has to be extremely creative in order to fight using methods from heroes with starkly different quirks from himself. I feel like the two of you would end up talking about what the two of you learned, learning more things from each other, and be able to bounce back and forth. Though, since you are on the more shyer side and Midoriya’s kinda awkward I think once you guys get past that level of awkwardness and you btoh realize how much you have in common you guys become fast friends!

how you got together

so you’re probably in the support department in the same class as Mei Hatsume, 1-H 

Although Mei is the one Midoriya had gone to for outfit changes, you were always there and had given more tips as well

Actually, when Midoriya goes back to thank Hatsume for a particularly helpful change on his uniform, Hatsume tells him to thank you instead!

he’s awkward about it but it kinda cute tho ya know

i also think midoriya ends up rambling about other ideas he has for his outfit

you’re sure to give him your two cents but then it ends up being sorta the two of you rambling and bouncing ideas back and forth!

context: it’s a fantasy adventure featuring a band of adventurers goin’ places, savin’ the world, fallin’ love, ya know. the works. no one in the world is white, btw, and no one in the main cast is straight, cis, or able-bodied/neurotypical. bc i can.

kelmaris: you mean MY SON. kel is a trans adventurer who fell in love started travelling with shan. he is gay and smol and i love him. also he’s the eldest of the triplets (lenna and mardi are his sibs) and has a telepathic connection with the two that was brought about by the gods. he has ptsd, dysphoria, and a prosthetic left arm that he uses to cast magic. for a d&d/pathfinder equivalent: half elf paladin.

lenna: kel’s younger sib. they are agender, ace, and aro. they formerly identified as a trans woman, but due to trauma they then identified more agender instead. they are a cinnamon roll and super pretty. they also have the telepathic connection thing. she also has ptsd and is disabled from the neck down, but uses a magical necklace to move around (though it’s incredibly tiring and makes her sick if she uses it too often). d&d equivalent: half-elf bard.

mardi: A MESS BUT I LOVE HIM. he is genderfluid and pan and basically loki if loki were a romani half-elf bard/rogue guy (but also like. the thor ragarok version of loki.) he is in love with ai but he doesn’t realize it was her bc he was drunk and has memory issues. he is the youngest of the triplets. for a clue to his personality: he is the half-elf incarnation of the “i lyk the bred” meme. he has a prosthetic leg and adhd. d&d equivalent: half-elf bard/rogue, esp one who seduces everything.

shan: ALSO MY SON. he a demiboy. he is blind, but in his culture blind people are huge religious figures treated with the utmost respect, and he was adopted by the king (who is gay and needs an heir so win-win). he usually travels with a Companion but his old companion died so he literally fasted and sat on the road for a week until kel found him and he became his new companion. also he has robes that are used as a diary which i think is p cool. d&d equivalent: human monk.

eino: precious bby. they are a tiny fae looking for their sib who travels with kel and shan. they were adopted by the two, more or less, and they are ridiculously adorable. they are autistic & enby bc their race doesn’t believe in gender as a construct, and basically everyone is nonbinary. d&d equivalent: fairy witch (but like a lil fairy witch)

ayla: precious bby’s big sib. travelling with lenna. i love them. they’re a lesbian and they fall in love with their deity of family and home and it’s adorable. they’re also nonbinary & autistic, but they also have ocd and depression. they really need love and cuddles guys. (thankfully, lenna is a cuddling MACHINE). d&d equivalent: fairy witch (but a full grown one this time).

ai: MY GIRL. ai is also travelling with lenna and she is pregnant. (it’s mardi’s kid, though neither them realize it until later) she is super excited about being a mom but she’s also like. really nervous. ya know? also she’s pyrogender! (for y’all who don’t know, it’s where your gender is normally at a neutral state, with some flares of intensity that returns to rest. i first heard of it on here and i love it so much. i think it’s cool guys.) she’s also got a walking stick she uses as a cane due to mobility issues, and ayla (who is a tol bean and strong) sometimes carries her. which is cute. d&d equivalent: elven alchemist.

mako: mako is gay. super gay. for his husband. who is also gay. i love him. he is a friend of mardi’s (by friend i really mean tether to sanity, but potato-potato, ya know) and ai’s older brother. also he has ptsd and a prosthetic right arm (he and kel become gay prosthetic buddies). btoh he and his husband djimon are genderqueer. d&d equivalent: elven gunslinger.

djimon: djimon is also gay. for his husband. i love them. so much. djimon is a dwarf and is missing one eye. he and mako are basically the super badass couple of the group. he and lenna (the two aces of the squad) drink together and laugh at the others being all in love and shit. sometimes mako joins in to laugh at their messy family and give djimon lil smooches. d&d equivalent: dwarven sorcerer.
