Struggling to find posts u've made in the past about Stoneclaw, but I love her sm. Definitely one of my BB Blorbos

I don't think I've ever put together a particular thingie on her, she's a beloved background character who tends to show up on her own in various places. Like when I talked about sign, before making the deafness guide!

BB!Stoneclaw is a gray-and-gold tortie, and the sister of Thrushwing. They come from one of the field guides, where it's revealed the two of them were sitting their vigil on the night that ShadowClan drove WindClan out of their home. In canon, Thrushwing is the survivor, but for BB, we all just kinda liked Stoneclaw's name more than Thrushwing's, so I decided to hit him with the Woman Beam.

On the night of the WindClan Massacre, Stoneclaw and Thrushwing were sitting vigil.

Daughters of Flytail and Eagleswoop, and grandkits of Tallstar himself. They were a promising young pair.

Before they even knew what hit them, they heard Brokenstar's yowl.

A squadron burst from the shadows, sliced Thrushwing's throat open, and smashed Stoneclaw's head to the ground

ShadowClan wasn't showing mercy, survivors were incidental. Their goal was to kill as many cats as possible.

Stoneclaw was dazed for a few seconds, going limp, but when she came to she leapt right back into the fray. She watched the rest of her family fold.

Tangleburr and her squadron went right for her father, Flytail, out of revenge for Lizardstripe, mobbing him and pulling him down

Eagleswoop just had a stroke of bad luck, failed to dodge, and was killed like prey

It was a horrific night, and what was once a large family was decimated to a couple of cats. She lost auncles, both parents, and her sister in one fell swoop.

Injured and aching, Stoneclaw said nothing as WindClan escaped the scene. The other survivors took it as a sign of great honor from the young warrior; that she had upheld her vow to the bitter end, even after losing so much.

But it lasted long after that night. The vigil has never truly 'ended' in her mind, so her vow of silence hasn't either.

Unfortunately, WindClan gets rough shake after rough shake from this point on, and she barely has a chance to heal in the constant barrage of violence and aggression. Between Nightstar's invasion, TigerClan, the BloodClan battle, the destruction of the White Hart woods, the Great Journey, and the Civil War... things only really started settling down years into her life, during Po3.

During the Civil War, Stoneclaw was actually ideologically aligned with Mudclaw, but took Onestar's side. She wanted to believe that Tallstar was lied to, but... she knew her grandfather better than anyone. Once the shock wore off, she had to face the horrible truth that he made a sudden, naiive decision.

It didn't take her long to stop regretting her choice, though. Her feelings are complicated, but her line too far is Mudclaw's willingness to attack his Clanmates.

Had she taken his side, she would have gone into battle with her future mate as a target. She doesn't think about it-- dismissing that she ever could have made such a choice.

Her internal monologue is a lot more afraid, frustrated, and exhausted than other cats would guess it is. Her actions don't match her thoughts.

She's hardworking, always trying to make her Clanmates comfortable, frets over her friends and family endlessly. Pair this with WindClan's assumption that her selective mutism is a "vow of silence," and most cats see her as an "ideal warrior." Someone kits should look up to and aspire to be.

She got into a relationship with Snapstorm waaaay too quickly; but luckily, Snapstorm is a really good mate.

After everything she'd been through, Snapstorm's cheerful, easygoing attitude was soothing and attractive. Snapstorm just had to say, "Hi Stoneclaw! Mice to see you around!" and then hand her a mouse for lunch and it was all over

Snapstorm was a BloodClan trader who joined along with Brushblaze, and one of the targets of the Civil War. She's a bit flighty and doesn't always think through everything she says, and doesn't worry about much either.

Their oldest kit is Buzzardclaw, who takes after Snapstorm a lot. So far I also gave them Crouchfoot in a later litter, but I've been thinking about giving them a bunch more.

The oldest litter was definitely accidental.

But not unwelcome. They both responded to it enthusiastically, Stoneclaw because she suddenly felt like she would have a big family again, and Snapstorm because she loves kids and just wanted to be a parent one day.

As mentioned before, they got into their mateship very quickly. They made each other happy and that's the whole reason.

Unfortunately, they would start seeing the difficulties of their personalities clashing while raising kittens. Which I just find FASCINATING which is honestly kinda why I want to throw more kits at them (not to mention how small WindClan is, padding is super appreciated)

See, Stoneclaw is dealing from serious CPTSD. Her mutism is NOT a vow. She can't speak and it's frustrating to her.

At the same time, watching the very helpful tail-signals that WindClan uses to communicate across the distant moor reminds her of battle signals, like she had to deal with during the fights with TigerClan. It's triggering, and that's ALSO stressful.

She's also lost so, so much of her family within the span of a few years, and is dealing with attachment issues as a result. Especially to that first litter, which she would be terrified of losing.

This makes an individual who can't communicate, but is desperate to. She hasn't been able to work well in groups for years, and unlike a more solitary cat like Willowclaw, this is not the result of a choice.

Snapstorm, being an outsider, is the first and only cat to not treat her behavior like... well, some kind of solemn vow to be "respected."

And that means a lot to Stoneclaw. Even if she was poetic, these are complicated feelings which would be hard to describe.

And Snapstorm is a sweetheart, but, she is putting a lot of effort into this relationship. She's not really great at focusing on one thing for too long, and a bit "forgetful" in the way that details go missing for a while until they come back later.

So sometimes an important bit of info slips her mind, or she misses a social cue and makes a joke that's a bit gruesome, or the fact that Clanmew is her second language rears up and she forgets words or translates a Townmew idiom directly and it Does Not Work.

While all this is happening, especially with the early litter, Stoneclaw is being a helicopter parent. Too worried to give her kits the freedom they need to develop, and Snapstorm is both trying to be a good parent and a good mate.

I'm fond of the idea that when Buzzardkit was very little, Stoneclaw was the Mi. But as she started to realize that her fear of losing him was hurting both of them, Snapstorm started taking over as Mi.

I think their dynamic is interesting. I like the idea of each litter ending up having a different upbringing, because of the state of their parents each time. Stone's also going to be sticking around for a very long time; definitely the last survivor of the WindClan Massacre, by many years. It's nice to think she's eventually surrounded by kits and grandkits, growing up in a better world than she did, even if it's not without its problems.

She's also going to start using Pawspeak, being one of its foundational members after developing a little friendship with SkyClan's Fallowfern. It's cathartic to her, finally feeling like there's a new context for WindClan's old tail signs, being used to communicate in a language rather than just be used for battle and hunting.

Stoneclaw is one of my personal little BB blorbos that I think about a lot. It's fun having conflicts like this going on in the background.

there are a lot of details i’m proud of in this fic. like the cats’ personalities, and how Alpine mirrors Sam while Figaro mirrors Bucky.

another small thing that doesn’t really matter, in the last chapter, in my mind, the wine rack is the surprise Bucky’s talking about in the last scene.

12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?

MCD? I used to be so opposed to it but idk, writing it gives me the space to explore new emotions and ideas and tragedies. I do prefer writing to reading it tho lol

poetry / playscripts - bright dead things, ada limon - dancing in odessa, ilya kaminsky - anecdotal evidence, wendy cope - postcolonial love poem, natalie diaz - cock, mike bartlett (play) on its own, a fairly weak script that’s core concept is “is bisexuality real?” HOWEVER i got my hands on the audio version of the 2009 production with andrew scott, ben whishaw and katherine parkinson and it is absolutely marvelous!!! totally elevates the writing imo - cat on a hot tin roof, tennessee williams (play) - fleabag, the scriptures, phoebe waller-bridge (script)

graphic novels i don’t really read a lot of graphic novels but while trying to break my slump i wanted to be more open to different types of fiction! most of these are short series (5 volumes or less!) - maus I & II, art spiegelman (read in the first half of the year when it became a banned book. devastating and beautiful) - the book tour, andi watson - the delicacy, james albon - the me you love in the dark, skottie young

fiction ok this is long but i wanted to give you my (brief) thoughts on each one!!! the bright lands, john fram (horror) a quarterback goes missing and his brother, shamed out of their small town ten years ago for being gay, returns to find him. this one is hands down the best book i’ve read this year & been chasing the high of reading it since i finished!!! and OKAY i understand that maybe doesn’t sound exciting but trust me it’s a fucking banger and so worth all the football talk, please read it!!!! - thin air, michelle paver (horror, ghosts!) michelle paver is my no 1 arctic ghost queen!!! imo not as good as dark matter, but still so so good. - the last house on needless street, catriona ward (horror) batshit insane, go into this as blind as possible, but be warned it’s v trigger heavy. If you have any q about them i will try to answer as non spoilery as possible. - the hacienda, isabel canas (horror, ghosts!) feels very ‘rebecca’ in the beginning but swiftly moves into it’s own realm of magical realism and the sexual tension between beatriz and the priest that helps her....oof. the ending made me cry. - the last thing to burn, will dean (horror, psychological thriller) big fan of will’s tuva series but his stand alones have been hit and miss (didn’t care for first born) but this one was suffocating, i devoured it in a day. - the count of monte cristo, alexandre dumas (classic, adventure) i read the three musketeers last year and enjoyed it, but absolutely adored the count! dumas has a compelling voice that makes reading 1200 pages fly by - the daughter of doctor moreau, silvia moreno-garcia (science fiction, retelling) much more science fiction-y then i usually go for but i ended up enjoying it more than i thought! - dracula, bram stoker (classic, horror) i mean we all read it this year right! jon x mina 4ever - dubliners, james joyce (classic, short stories) can’t say i enjoyed all the stories in this collection, (my faves were araby, eveline, a little cloud, clay and the dead) but i listened to it via audio read by andrew scott…. absolutely stunnin - small things like these, claire keegan (historical fiction, novella) a sweet christmas time book about ireland's infamous magdalene laundries. ends on a very uplifting note!!

i love spamming my tumblr sm bc i am insane i am so sleep deprived I might go to bed actually but i do not want to my hand hurts sb im going crazy i love them they are the reason I am able to keep going because when things get hard i get to think abt them and I feel less lonely i adore

mental stability who is she i only know minecraft (actually played earlier w my sister and cousin it was very funny)

(Bad financial decisions is a pair of mending shears our librarians r broken and won’t restock trades i might cheat to get a new one lol cheating to keep the game from becoming a drag is valid stfu) but we don’t spawn in things like weapons we just make it less frustrating to get them. For example, i spawned in a single netherite upgrade template, then burned a few diamonds that I would have used to make it. Then used that one to make copies legit. We (me) also legit built a mob spawner but it sucked and instead of spending two hours fixing it i fucking cheated to get it working it is so scuffed. The mob spawner is like free game. We kill each other so much over there the mob spawner is just BM simulator. We have keep inventory on so we don’t get frustrated since we play casually and just like to fuck around which means we can just kill one another for fun. CASUAL PLAYING BABY MY SISTER GOES INTO SPECTATOR (i gave her admin lol) TO LOOK FOR NETHER STRUCTURES BUT WE DONT USE IT TO CHEAT FOR NETHERITE WE R JUST LIKE THAT WE ALSO ARE ON PEACEFUL 80% OF THE TIME LIKE WE PLAY ON PEACEFUL UNLESS WE R EXP GRINDING I LOVE CHEATING WOOT

My sister was building a barn (why we had the concrete for the McDonald’s from earlier) but she hated it (it was ugly) so we blew it up with tnt (we made an event out of it). It looked like an among us. Also one time i accidentally shot and killed her cat (i was trying ti kill her) (it didn’t even have a name she had to make one up on the spot to put on the tombstone) but it had brought her a gift right before I shot it so it was kinda sad. I made fireworks and a lovely gravesite to make up for it (the berries i placed r annoying but too funny for me to get rid of honestly) but the barn looked like an among us so I had to make fun of her for it.

Pretty early on in the server’s lifespan. The dog hole is still there we have so many dogs. They are horribly neglected. Honestly I just have so many mc stories on this server especially. And in general too. I love mc i love mc i love playing w my sister and cousins. We vibe. We have fun. The world builds sm character. We’ve played on this server quite a bit too so there r so many fun landmarks and stories. i never get to talk abt this stuff but I can be cringe and annoying on tumblr without directly bothering any of my friends so WOOHOO

This is an old world. I believe this is the one where we had “the beach house” (my sister was convinced that the beach house was pretty far away but turns out after I did some mass deforestation as i love doing it was literally in eyeshot of our main base LMAO” we also had a church. The world we currently play on the most is the longest we’ve really played on a server, which is super cool. It’s like the third multiplayer server we’ve all done and it’s cool to see how much we do things now compared to when we were younger. Our first world (i would love to see it again but it’s on my old kindle tablet at my grandmas house and idk if it even works anymore) i lived in a hole in the wall (it was epic) and we made a church of egg. We liked to bully my cousin by removing his perms and making it so he couldn’t open doors and I removed the pressure plate in his house trapping him inside. There was a trial for me and I dug out of the courtroom. Our second world I took up mass deforestation. I made a huge sheep farm and made so many beds for no reason. We weren’t even blast mining at all. I just felt like it. I built an among us on my other cousins house and dug a tunnel so I should steal her shit. I dug a huge hole with only stone tools. We had the beach house and another church (which looked really cool I did some texturing on it) and a dock and several farms. We played on that one longer than the first, far longer. However we never really progressed past stone and occasionally iron tools.

This current world we’ve progressed so much more. Partially because I got off my high-horse when it comes to keep inventory. We all play on fucking mobile so like we were casuals anyways. We have enchants, a multi-level house, several builds (complete and forever incomplete we don’t talk abt that one), the mob farm, good stuff. We’ve played for far longer and have gotten into numerous shenanigans. We have villagers and the house and builds look better than our old ones (i don’t build i build like the “when you let the miner build” meme my sister builds things pretty I just get stuff). There’s more history. So much that I don’t even want to try and get into it all.

As soon as he realizes PvP is on he's punching the shit out of Lucifer

Then runs as far away from spawn as he can and finds a village and ends up staying there.

Also revamps the village and sets up a nice trading hall that he shares with Levi.

Virtually impossible to steal from. If you can manage to get past all of his elaborate traps and manage to get into his house you will be greeted with an ungodly amount of cats.

They sit on his chests to lock them.

But thats not even half of them.

You can hear him coming because he has 50+ cats following him meowing loud af. The sound of impending doom.

Him and Lucifer will PvP and the fight will just go on and on because they're both too stacked to die but neither of them will give up.

Bullied Mammon into giving him the Cat music disc.

Keeps all his essentials in shulker boxes and ender chests and whatever's in the regular, cat guarded chests at his house has just been sitting there since day one.

But he knows exactly whats in there.

RARELY Wears Armor. Has the 3rd most deaths solely because he keeps accidentally getting killed in his brothers crossfires. 

Says he doesn't want to cover his skin because he really liked it (it's him)

Is surprisingly good at PvP. Would be even better if he had more protection than just a shield.

Mains a high Power, Flame, and Infinity enchanted bow that he got from fishing with Satan. 

He and Satan have the most pets on the server. He was fishing so he could breed his cats.

Doesn't play all that much and has a bunch of unfinished projects laying around the server

But catch him in the club pulling a Levi and playing pocket edition, completely absorbed in it

Avid acacia appreciater. Insists that no one knows how to use it right.

Runs out of storage space quickly because all his chests are full of seeds and food.

Didn't start mining until a week and a half in.

Despite all of this he's the first person to get an elytra and absolutely keeps it away from everyone else. he doesn't even use it and hes SO smug about it.

    Y/n was serving at the bar with their coworker Olivia, when they sew him walk in. Butch Gilzean, Fish’s right hand man. He disappeared with Fish going upstairs, and Y/n sighs.

    “Alright that is enough Y/n, why don’t you just tell him already? What could go wrong” Olivia asked snapping Y/n out of their daydream.

   “Olivia! I’m not sure if you remember but, news flash, everything can go wrong. He could get offended and fire me, he can do that ya know, or he could just laugh in my face! Now that would be a detrimental blow to my self esteem. PLUS how would I even tell him, what just walk up to him and say he’s pretty or that I love his sm- why are you smiling like that?” Y/n asked Olivia, who was smiling like the Cheshire cat. Y/n turns around to see that the one and only Butch Gilzean was sitting right behind them waiting to order but instead got Y/n’s confession that they had a crush on him. Y/n’s face turns a bright shade scarlet red, they couldn’t think of anything to say so they turned and just walked out of the club.

   Butch was sitting there dumbstruck, Y/n, the one person he just knew couldn’t like him. I mean, he was part of the mob, that made it hard enough to find friends much less a partner. He looks at Olivia with a dazed look on his face.

   “Unbelievable, what are you doing!    “I’m sorry I-” “Y/n look-” both of them started to say at the same time and they both burst out laughing, thinking this was as ridiculous and cliche as it is in the movies. As the laughter faded Butch took the opportunity to say what he needed to say, and with every second his face got redder and redder from nervousness and slight embarrassment.

   “Y/n, l-look, I heard what you said back there and I just gotta know, d-” Butch cleared his throat

   “Did you mean it?” He looked towards Y/n, waiting for their response, only to see they were already looking at him. 

   “Of course I meant it, I’ve had a crush on you since I started working here, was I really able to keep it from you this long? You’d think a guy who’s climbing up the ladder in the mob scene would notice something as stu-” then before Y/n could finish their sentence Butch kissed them. It was a shot and light kiss, but enough to convey their feelings for one another, it ended as quickly as it began but the moment was ruined by a call from Fish. Butch hung up the phone and turned to Y/n.

   “Sorry I gotta go, but how ‘bout dinner tonight, I know a place with the best Italian food.” 

   “That sounds perfect” Y/n said warmly
