Caryn Pines, whose still alive to witness her little free spirit Stanley miraculously rise from the dead. The Stan twins buy a brand new sofa that extends into a bed just for her, so she doesn’t have to make a treacherous journey up the stairs. It’s her own slice of heaven, seeing her babies get along like they did when they were children. Seeing her grandchildren parallel to their uncles; Dipper, studious and reclusive, Mabel, crafty and eccentric.
It all comes to a head when Caryn wakes up at the witching hour. There’s ruckus being made in the kitchen, pushing herself upright and cursing at everything under the sun as she grabs a broom. She’s ready to beat whatever creature made the mistake of entering her sons home — pausing at the sight of her two sons.
“We need to put a lock on the sugar. I don’t know if my stomach can tolerate another Mabel’s Guide To Cooking experiment.” Ford grumbles. He opens the fridge, taking out a lemonade pitcher and pours out two glasses.
Stan’s chuckles. “Mhm. I know where you could get some sugar.”
Ford rolls his eyes at the cheesy line, having heard it a million times before. Thick fingers hook into the band of Ford’s boxers to reel him close to Stan. Ford narrows his eyes, raising an eyebrow as both his hands are preoccupied with glass, the condensation wetting his palms.
Stan grins, leaning in to steal a kiss.
It lasts for a mere few seconds before Caryn’s screams bloody murder.
The twins pull apart as if they’ve been electrocuted. Lemonade glasses crash into the sticky hardwood flooring, as they both snatch the nearest possible weapon. Stanley, an animal spinal cord with it’s ribs still attached. Stanford, a lamp.
“Mom? Mom, what’s wrong?” Stan asks, putting the bones down and taking a step closer. Caryn clutches the broom like a lifeline. She can only stare at this-this monster that’s inches closers with every step. He holds out his hand, presumably to take away the broom from her clutch. Motherly instinct kicks in, to protect Stanford from his own twin. Her arms rise to strike Stanley down. “Ow! Ow! Mom — that hurts! OW!”
“You freak!” Caryn screeches in agony and anger. Stan goes frigid underneath the safety of his arms from his mother’s blows. He looks down at his mother with her fury in his eyes — Stanley thinks she’s talking about Stanford. “You’re a monster!”
“I know it’s - OW! - the old age talking.” Stanley growls, one hand grabbing the handle of the broomstick. It only infuriates her further. “I don’t care if you’re our mom. I won’t let you talk about Stanford like that.”
“Mom, it’s really early in the morning. I think it’s better if we talk about whatever is bothering you with some breakfast.” Ford tries. They think she’s stupid. She’s known everything about them. How could she miss this? Ford places the lamp down, stepping closer to de-escalate the situation. “Please, stop hitting Stanley.”
“I saw you kissing your brother!” Caryn screams.
The twins freeze.
Caryn turns her focus back to Stanley. There’s no love for him anymore. Not for this depraved abomination corrupting her sons innocence. She tugs at the broom and the handle spilts in two. “How could you do this? After all the pain and misery you put us through, how could you?”
“Mom, I’m sorry—“ Stan starts.
Caryn doesn’t let him finish. She thrusts the broom handle forward like a sword and lets the splintered wood make a flesh wound into his left shoulder. Stan yells in pain, hand coming up to cover the bleeding.
“You ruined your own life! And now you you’re trying to drag your brother down with you!” She tries to strike another blow but misses as he stumbles backward, falling flat on his ass. Ironic, that even as he raises his uninjured arm to protect himself, it’s a strikingly all-to-familiar position. As a child protecting himself Filbrick’s coropal punishment.
Ford steps between them then, using himself as a shield to protect Stan from any further harm. “You’re worse than Filbrick. At least he wasn’t a fucking pervert for his own family! I want you dead, Stanley. DEAD!”
Ford takes the wooden handle out of her hands without a fight, tossing it away. Silence fills the room, none of them knowing what to say.
“Grunkle Stan?” Dipper calls from the kitchen entryway. The three of them snap their heads in his direction. He stands there with a bat in his hands, Mabel tucked safely behind him with her own grappling gun; looking worriedly at their bleeding Grunkle. Stanley scrambles onto his feet then, walking past the younger set of twins.
“Stanley, wait!” Ford calls for him. He raises his hand in a futile attempt to reach him, feet frozen in place as he lets the distance grow further. There’s the sharp sound of a door slamming, followed with a car speeding away from the Mystery Shack.

• always turns down the ac in the bedroom so it’s freezing. he likes it cold but also does it so you’ll cuddle up to him for warmth
• has very rough, calloused hands. when he rubs your back it makes you shiver
• loves to wrap his arms around you and hug you from behind while you’re cooking or working in the lab

• thinks you hang the moon
• was really sick and delirious one time and all he could talk about was how beautiful you are and how much he loves you
• snores. it was kind of hard to sleep with at first but now it’s like your personal white noise machine
• you got him into ren faires. calls you his majesty
• very passionate kisser, sometimes gets carried away and forgets to breathe
• if you’re lgbt he goes to pride with you. mabel dresses him head to toe in pride merch
• anxious attachment (mostly because of bill)
• might forget to eat but always makes sure you do
• big spoon, loves feeling the warmth of you up against him
• when you’re getting ready to leave somewhere he says “are you ready to rock and roll?” like the dad he is
• teaches you self defense, sees it as a very practical skill
• loves seeing you smile
• you love his morning voice
• constantly had nightmares about bill hurting you. he’d wake up and pull you close, he wanted to protect you so much
• gives the best hugs
• recorded himself reading books before he went away on his adventures with stan so you could still fall asleep to his voice
• when you first met he fell so hard for you when you told him you read the journals
• when you and ford get married mabel and dipper call you their grauntie
• if you’re in college he helps you with your homework and studying
• writes about you in the journals. refers to you as “the most beautiful creature i have ever encountered”
• drunkenly admitted to you one night that his first crush was jackie kennedy
• plays with your hair a lot. it’s practically a stim
• if you’re having a rough day he’ll pull you onto his lap and let you vent
• when you show him a video or a meme he does that old person thing where he takes the phone out of your hand, holds it out, squints, and adjusts his glasses while asking you something like “is that your friend?”
• you guys have heated vampires vs werewolves debates
• struggled heavily with suicidal thoughts after weirdmageddon. there were nights where neither of you slept and you were honestly afraid to leave him alone. if it wasn’t for you, stan, and the kids he never would’ve made it.

The Anti-Pines family is utterly fascinating. We have the blueprint for an entire pseudo canon AU, and remarkably I have seen little input from the fandom in regards to it. I can’t imagine why because there is SO MUCH TO WORK WITH HERE.
Anti-Waddles being as nefarious as Anti-Mabel. “The first pig to ever go to jail for armed robbery.” Like 😭😭 imagine waddles standing upright and holding a tommy gun. Imagine no one in the bank their holding up taking them seriously because they’re an adorable little girl and a chubby pig, and mabel threatening to put a bullet between someone’s eyes like “u better cough up the bacon before this bacon smokes u.” I wanna see what other heinous atrocities the cutest crime duo in the multiverse get up to.
ANTI-SOOS BEING A FORBES BILLIONAIRE HOW AND WHY DID THIS HAPPEN
You’d think if Anti-Ford represents the opposite of Ford that you’d wind up with someone who is exceptionally normal and uninteresting but NOPE. Anti-Ford is easily the weirdest here. FUCKING??? YOUTUBER??? DJ?? A sixty-something year old man with 200 subscribers who posts about his dubstep set lists daily. Utterly baffling.
Anti-Stan and Anti-Dipper are the most understandable in terms of being complete opposites of their counterparts, but all of this makes me wonder how differently their stories would play out because of this. Anti-Mabel was “chased out of her dimension” for being so evil. How does her family feel about this? Are they trying to get her back? Does this bizarre cast embark on a comical and heartfelt journey to try and bring her home? A journey that ends in an emotional reunion? Perhaps one that Mabel fights as she clings to her indifferent, cold ideology while her family begs her to come home. All of them recollecting her horrible crimes with proportionately little exasperation and an abundance of fondness. Stan recounting when she stole all the money from a fundraiser he’d held so she could instead invest the funds into remodeling their entire house to have a monochrome minimalist decor. Ford reminiscing about the time she tried to use his channel to funnel money into a crypto/nft scheme. Dipper having countless stories. like how happy she’d make him when he’d get to skip school thanks to her (because she burned down the school, multiple times). About how she’d sabotaged pretty much all of his relationships, but it was a good thing in the end because it allowed him to realize that who he always really loved was that dorky socially awkward corduroy girl he hadn’t noticed at first. All of this retrospection from her family chipping away at her hardened heart and- phew, I'm getting carried away, but the possibilities, man! These characters could be so much more than a one time joke.
Tumblr media
There is also the matter of Anti-Bill. “He is very boring.” Shut up??? Speak for urself, schmebulock, he sounds delightful. This is another character I believe you could expand in many interesting ways. I mean think about it, a being possessing the same caliber of bill’s omniscience and using it for good sounds amazing. Knowing all the beauty in all the universes and going out of his way to share it with weary minds through their dreams. Nullifying nightmares. What if he were a healing antidote to the mind, a medicine to bill’s mind unraveling madness? What if they knew each other?
Do you see my (delusional) vision here guys?

You’ll never catch me NOT defending a Pines twin.
Stan? All he ever wanted was his family’s love and respect. He would have done ANYTHING for Ford, he made mistakes but they were genuinely honest mistakes, he paid for them greatly and spent thirty years trying to fix things. He never meant to break Ford’s project, and he couldn’t have possibly known what the portal was. He just wanted to welcome his brother back with open arms, and got punched in the face for it. All his jealousy and anger towards Ford were totally understandable.
Ford? Stan’s mistakes may have been honest ones, but Ford still suffered greatly for them and it’s perfectly understandable for him to be angry and not quick to forgive his brother. Yes, he fucked up big time with Bill and that’s on him, but he would do ANYTHING to make things right. Also like how can you not feel bad for him, he went through actual Hell, first with Bill’s psychological torment and then spending 30 years hopping dimensions. Of course he’s paranoid and distrusting! Suffered more than anyone else, my poor grunkly meow meow.
Mabel? She didn’t know what the rift was! Nobody told her! She’s 12 years old for gods sake, of course she is easy to manipulate when she is extremely upset. And yeah she is awful to Dipper in Mabel Land, but she was literally being influenced by demonic brain magic, you can’t hold her accountable for all that. And the times when Dipper sacrificed for her was bc he was the one who SHOULD have made the sacrifice. Mermando and even Waddles are more important than Dipper having one good day on his totally doomed romantic pursuit of Wendy. Once Mabel was put in the situation where what she wanted wasn’t as important as what Dipper needed, she came through for him.
Dipper? I haven’t seen much criticism of him, and good because there shouldn’t be. My boy is brave and smart and would go through hell without hesitation for his sister. Sure he can fuck things up when he recklessly messes with supernatural stuff, but nobody’s perfect. As for his and Mabel’s fight at the end, Dipper didn’t do anything wrong. He was offered a huge opportunity from Ford and was just considering taking it. He should have told Mabel about the rift, but he was only doing what Ford said, his idol and mentor who has way more experience with Bill.

I heard word got out...
Part 2 to "Siblings and Secrets don't mix"
Dipper x Pacifica
W/C: 1k+
Summary: The twins have Pacifica over for a game evening and Dipper is trying to be chilled out about the relationship even though he's a huge dork and ends up telling the whole thing to Mabel afterwards to her delight.
•☽────✧˖°˖☆˖°˖✧────☾••☽────✧˖°˖☆˖°˖✧──☾•
The two had been in Gravity Falls for a few weeks now and it was...well Mabel knew it was going to be different, Dipper had a girlfriend, they were older, a large chunk of Wendy's crew was off in the world while she took a gap year.
Gravity Falls had changed, and yet it had stayed the same; it had that same mysterious feeling hanging in the air and adventure spilling from every square meter. Mabel knew that Gravity Falls had changed but in just the right ways.
The twins were hanging out in the attic but they weren't alone, Pacifica was there lounging by Dipper leaning on him as the three played some dusty board game from Grunkle Stan's ancient cupboards. It didn't feel unnatural to let another person into their space, it was almost like Pacifica was meant to be there-meant to be with Dipper atleast!
She had changed a lot, she had yet to complain about the room (only the fact that Dipper hadn't washed his hair since they got down to Falls) and she was free. Free from her toxic self body image issues or her fears of being seen as less than perfect. Of course Pacifica still enjoyed the self care of her life, her hair was tied up perfectly and her no makeup makeup look made her look flawless but as Dipper had pointed out she was letting her pale freckles show even if she thought they were imperfect. She smelled like fancy perfume and crisp summer air while Dipper smelt of mens 3 in 1 and pine trees due to his time outside, it made them the perfectly imperfect couple. Pacifica had done what Gravity Falls had done: gotten different for the better.
Mabel knew Dipper was trying to act nonchalant while he held Pacifica's hand, while he tensed his shoulder to support her, how he would always wear a clean shirt when she came over because he knew they'd be close and how he'd always say something he liked about her when they met each other at the door (which he of course didn't find hard). Mabel knew about how she'd kiss him goodbye whenever she could and how they'd go out on hour-long walks together and for once, she wasn't afraid of losing her brother, she was happy for him. Mabel knew he was making an effort but in her twins classic overly wound fashion he was trying to make it seem like nothing at all.
Just last night she had to talk (yell) him out of writing another one of his convoluted plans that always end up messing him up like they did a few summers back with Wendy.
The night has passed quickly and before Mabel (and Dipper) knew it Pacifica was getting bombarded with calls from her parents to get home before the sun sets, the twins took her to the door and waved goodbye (grunkle Stan waving from the arm chair). Mabel held her breath until the door shut and immediately began teasing her twin brother:
"AHHH I saw you holding her hand you dork!"
"I- it was only for a second" Dipper opposed laughing and rubbing the back of his neck.
"HA if by a second you mean the whole game evening then we're speaking the same language" Mabel replied grinning wide, she noticed Dipper was smiling too, his cheeks turning red with embarrassment.
"Come on, not like you haven't done that with one of your partners. Mabel, I saw your first kiss!" Dipper deflected.
"HEY! Don't try and spin this on me, if we're counting that majestic man I saw yours too!” She said quickly, smiling even more"this is about YOU and how you're in LOVE!!" she yelled out a tiny bit too loud, which she knew when both Ford and Stan yelled
"If you talk about teen romance you don't do it during ducktective!" The twins heard laughter and they took it as a sign to go upstairs so that Mabel could yell to her heart's content.
The twins sat on their two beds facing each other Mabel practically bursting with excitement and Dipper a nervous wreck who was unbelievably happy with himself. Mabel knew Dipper was about to talk, he was just gathering the courage so she stayed silent looking at him waiting for his quick words, until the silence was filled with a speedy excited explanation from Dipper.
"We've been going out for a while now, she texted me at the end of last summer and we've liked eachother since we were like 13 THIRTEEN MABEL! We've been messaging ever since I'm so AHH. I asked her out and she was like 'yeah!' like YEAH? I'm so nervous-"
Mabel cuts him off by giggling loudly and shifting to her stomach and supporting her head with her hands so she could kick her feet.
“I'm just SO happy to have met her and just EVERYTHING about her is so beautiful I don't think she knows what she looks like you know? I don't even know why she'd date a guy like me…”
Mabel shot him a look “Don't you dare put yourself down ! She LIKES you lil bro that means not only did she want a guy LIKE you, she wanted YOU!”
“I guess so I just want to give her everything I can you know?” Dipper said, holding onto his other arm for comfort, balling up in his bed. Mabel giggled knowing he was just overthinking like he always does. She broke the silence saying:
"Who knew my lil bro could be so romantic..." She teased him knowing he had never dated a girl before her. "Do you think she's like THE ONE?" Mabel asked, looking at him expectantly.
There was a long pause and Mabel began to worry she had ruined her twins first romance but he said quietly looking down embarrassed:
"... I hope she is." Mabel jumped up at the response and jumped at her brother attacking him with a hug, he pretended to get away but really he was enjoying her joy. "Mabel! Get off" he laughed.
Mabel looked at him and smiled, they knew Gravity Falls was magical.
(Who knew it was magical enough to get Dipper a girlfriend?)

i finally got another stylus so i can draw again and i made a relativity falls!caryn pines bc i love her
Tumblr media
here's what i think about her
michael, her father, was 17 years younger than mabel and dipper
she was born when he was only 16
growing up, she visited the mystery shack in it's very formative years and thought her auntie, madame mystery, was the coolest person ever
she had an obsession with the mystical also, but focused in witchy things and seeing the future.
when she was 15, her parents had another baby. she felt very left behind by this, and started dating fillbrick, a 20-something asshole who worked with her dad.
she got pregnant at only 16, and was super excited to be amother. obviously she faced the general teen mother issues, but she was excited to have a baby.
she moved in with fillbrick when he found out, even though her parents never kicked her out. she just wanted her kids to have a whole family.
fillbrick insisted on naming their son stan, after his late father. in return, caryn told him she would, but he would be having her last name.
when they found out they were having twins, filbrick insited that there was no need to find another name, since they had agreed on stan. she came up with stanley and stanford to keep the peace with him.
she invited her auntie to see her give birth, because she was fun and kooky and everyhting that she wanted to be. mabel was the first one to hold the boys other than herself.
after the boys were born, her parents were regular babysitter while she finished her high school degree.
she married fillbrick the day after her 18th birthday. she cried the whole morning. her mother begged her to just run away and leave him behind. she married him anyway.
once she graduated, she worked as a waitress while trying to start up a psychic business. from a string of total accidents, she became the star of her own psychic tv show and moved the family to california.
for years, she did her best to keep her temper with fillbrick, since she hated fighting in front of the kids. she reminds herself that they need to be together so there's another paycheck. so the boys have a father.
she keeps coming up with reasons to stay.
the year the boys are 12, she finds it harder and harder to find reasons. she hates fighting in front of her sons, but she hated fillbrick more.
she sends the two of them to spend a summer with her favorite aunt while she figures out divorce proceedings, how to keep full custody of them for herself, how to get a restraining order against her husband, and how to do it all without him knowing until he absolutely has to.
she has two tattoos, one on her stomach of a crystal ball and one on her arms that says "Lee & Ford"
just. i love caryn pines very much and i refuse to believe that anyone related to dipper and mabel would actually raise fillbrick, so i think this is more fun.

Omg I have the seventh shipping wonder of all my ships.
It was a quiet evening at the Mystery Shack. The rest of the Pines family had gone out for the evening—Stan and Dipper on a road trip, leaving Mabel and Ford alone together. The fire crackled softly in the hearth, casting a warm glow across the room. Ford was at his desk, scribbling in one of his journals, while Mabel lounged on the couch, knitting a new sweater. The silence between them was comfortable, but unspoken emotions simmered beneath the surface.
Mabel glanced over at Ford, watching him in the dim light. He looked deep in thought, his brow furrowed in concentration as his pen moved quickly across the page. She admired the way his mind worked, how passionate he was about his research and discoveries. Over time, Mabel had grown to appreciate not just his intellect, but his gentle presence, his subtle kindness, and the way he treated her with a respect that made her feel more than just the fun-loving, goofy girl everyone saw.
"Whatcha working on, Grunkle Ford?" she asked, breaking the silence. Her voice was light, but her heart beat a little faster as she spoke. Ford looked up, smiling at her nickname for him, though lately it felt... off, somehow. "Just a few notes on some new anomalies I've been tracking. Nothing too exciting." He set the pen down and leaned back in his chair, watching her in return. "And you? Another masterpiece in the making?"
Mabel grinned, holding up the half-finished sweater. "You bet! It's going to have sparkly unicorns and rainbows. You know, the usual."
Ford chuckled, his gaze lingering on her a little longer than usual. "That's one thing I admire about you, Mabel—you never lose your creativity or your sense of wonder."
Her cheeks flushed slightly at the compliment. She'd always been close to Ford, but recently, she’d noticed something changing between them. She felt drawn to him in ways she didn’t fully understand, ways that confused and excited her. It wasn’t just the familial bond anymore—there was something deeper, something she couldn’t quite put into words.
Mabel hesitated for a moment before speaking again. "Ford... do you ever feel like..." She trailed off, unsure how to finish the sentence. She fiddled with the yarn in her hands, her eyes downcast. Ford’s brow furrowed slightly, sensing the shift in her tone. "Feel like what?" he prompted gently.Mabel took a deep breath and looked up, her eyes meeting his. "Like... maybe things are different between us now? Like we’re not just... great uncle and great niece anymore?"
Ford’s heart skipped a beat at her words. He had noticed it too—the way their interactions had changed over the past few months. At first, he chalked it up to Mabel maturing, becoming more thoughtful and reflective. But now, hearing her say it out loud, he couldn’t deny the truth of it. There was something more between them, something neither of them had expected.
"I’ve... thought about that," Ford admitted, his voice quiet but steady. "I wasn’t sure if it was just me, but... yes. Things do feel different."
Mabel’s heart raced as she heard the confirmation in his voice. She set her knitting aside and stood up, moving to sit on the arm of his chair, close enough that she could feel the warmth of him next to her. "I don’t know when it happened, Ford. But I don’t just see you as my Grunkle anymore. You’re more than that to me now."
Ford reached up, his hand gently brushing against her arm. He wasn’t sure what to say, how to put into words the complicated emotions swirling inside him. "Mabel, you’ve always been important to me. More than I can express. But this... what we’re feeling... it’s unexpected."
"I know," Mabel whispered, her voice trembling slightly. "But I don’t think it’s wrong. Do you?"
Ford paused, considering her question carefully. He had always been a man of logic and reason, but in this moment, all of that seemed to fade away. What mattered was how he felt, how they both felt. "No, I don’t think it’s wrong," he finally said, his voice soft but resolute.
Mabel smiled, her heart swelling with a mix of relief and excitement. She leaned in closer, her face inches from his. "I... I think I love you, Ford. Not just as my Grunkle. As... more."
Ford’s breath caught in his throat. He had spent most of his life distancing himself from others, focused on his research, never allowing himself to form deep connections. But Mabel had broken through all of that. She had made him feel alive in ways he hadn’t felt in years.
"I think I love you too, Mabel," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
Without another word, Mabel closed the gap between them, her lips brushing against his in a tentative, tender kiss. Ford hesitated for only a moment before responding, his hand gently cupping her cheek as he kissed her back. It was a quiet, gentle moment—one filled with the unspoken realization that everything had changed between them.
When they finally pulled away, Mabel rested her forehead against his, her eyes fluttering open to meet his gaze. "I’m glad we’re alone tonight," she said softly, her voice full of affection.
Ford smiled, his heart full in a way it hadn’t been in a long time. "So am I."

paralyzed Ford fluff because he's constantly spinning in my mind these days:
Ford enjoys piggyback rides from Stan when he can't use his wheelchair for whatever reason (stairs, rough trail, stuff like that). It's usually a little awkward to start a ride, requiring Stan to squat pretty low for Ford to get a proper grip on him and for Stan to support his legs, but it's totally worth it for how much fun it is. Alternate is just Ford being regularly carried in Stan's arms when he's too achy to hold onto his twin's shoulders. Or it's too inconvenient to start a piggyback ride in the moment.
Stan always sleeps in the same bed as Ford ever since he found him on the floor that first night home. At first it was because Stan felt concerned about Ford possibly falling off the bed again, but he quickly grew to love the closeness to his brother that he hadn't felt in a while. Ford does enjoy it too, though he's not quick to admit it. It usually ends in them cuddling the whole night.
Though Ford did pick up sign language quickly, adjusting signs for his extra fingers as needed, it was weird and a little nerve-wracking for him at first to put his hands in the spotlight just so he could communicate with others. Years of hiding his anomaly from judgemental eyes just didn't go away like that. So Ford usually kept his hands still around strangers unless absolutely necessary. It was Stan that helped him get over that initial fear when talking to other people, with gentle encouragement and a silent agreement that Stan would defend him if anyone dared to be rude.
Speaking of sign language, sometimes Stan signs to Ford when he wants a private conversation, as not many people in Gravity Falls understood it. It was especially useful on Stan's sick days when his voice was much too hoarse to use. Ford likes those quiet conversations quite a lot, often preferring it over how loud Stan can be sometimes. Though once Dipper and Mabel came along for the summer, those conversations weren't as private as they were before. But they were fun.
so that's all I can think of as of now. be prepared for more posts about him because this brainrot is very intense. feel free to ask anything about him!!!

Cinnamon girl— Stanford x OC one-shot
Context: Ford meets a delightful waitress and smells like cinnamon.
"And stay away from the kids. As far as I know, there the only family I have left."
Stanley walked away from Ford, looking guilty and sad. He had just gotten his brother back, but for what? For him to hate, him? He sighed, and opened the door, to find a very tired and worried Diana hernandez.
"Mr. Pines! Sir, I just got off the phone with my mom, and she said that she won't be able to pick me up tonight, so she was hoping you could-"
"Kid, kid, listen. Your mother and I have known each other for ten years. I'm sure she's well aware that anything she needs from me, I'll do it with no hesitation. You may stay here for the night. C'mon, let's take you to bed."
They both talked and laughed, leaving an eavesdropping Ford shocked. This intelligent, brilliant young girl.. actually got along with Stanley? It seemed impossible. She was so cold, and so serious when she met him, but with stan, she acted just like him, only more jockier. He sighed, and decided to ignore it for the time being. For now, he had work to do.
(THE next morning.)
"Everyone get down! Don't let it taste human flesh!"
Ford cried out, holding a octopus like creature. It was morning, and the shenanigans have started already. The creature ran away, dipper jumping in fear, mabel asking if they could keep it, and Stanley just hit it with the newspaper in his hand. Diana yawned and walked into the room, confused to why there was so much noise.
"What the heck is going on here?" She asked, trying her best to scratch her back. She then saw the monster and let out a squeal of terror.
"Ew! That's gotta be the most ugliest thing ever! Do NOT let that thing touch me!" She scrambled away, going on top of a merch rack. It slithered to a box, all of them watched Stanford carefully neutralize the thing. As soon as it reacted, he shocked it with some gloves he had on, and held it like a kid who caught his first fish.
"Great, now get it out of here. It smells like you breath can barf.."
As soon as he said that, a loud knock was heard from the door. Everyone but Stanley and Diana was surprised, wondering who it could be. Just then, the teenage girl jumped off the rack, and raced towards the door. She opened it wide, and there she was.
Valentina, a young, slim woman with caramel colored skin, dark chocolate eyes, and a very messy waitress dress with small stains. Her eyes were dead and numb, her dark hazel colored hair a mess, looked at Diana with the sweetest smile ever.
"Good mornin' baby, how'd you sleep?"
"Momma!" The younger girl jumped up to the woman's arms, giving her the biggest smile they ever saw on her face.
"Woah! Don't you think yer getting to old for that, kid?" Stanley asked, chuckling at the kids reaction to her mom. He grabbed her by her shirt, holding her like a mother cat to her kitten.
"It's ok, Stanley. She'll forever be my little girl, in my heart." She giggled, shaking stans hand. Ford, dipper and mabels jaw dropped. How did she know who the real Stanley was?
"Grunkle stan? Who- who is she? How does she know who the actual you is?!" Dipper exclaimed, holding on to the journal tightly.
"Hah! Kids, and Ford to, I guess. This is Valentina, or Valentina for short. She is Diana's mother, and one of my very best friends."
"Stanley, I'm most likely your only best friend."
"ONE of my very best friends."
Val scoffed, and leaned down to match the kids heights.
"Hello, children. Stanley has told me so much about you little cuties, I'm so happy to finally meet you!" She grinned, giving them both a handshake. She got up and faced Ford, who had the most dorkiest love struck face ever.
"Ah, you must be the mysterious spooky twin brother of Stanley, stanford. I must say, it is an honor to finally meet you." She extended her hand to shake his, but he refused to do so, embarrassed to even show his six fingers to her, an absolute godess of beauty and enchantment. She realized why, and started to chuckle.
"Oh, don't you worry. I know about your six fingers, they won't matter to me."
... what?
What did she mean, it didn't matter to her? She was superior to him, she should be judging him for his fingers. Oh boy, he definitely is now head over heels for her, willing to do anything for her approval and love.
He hesitantly exchanged the handshake, feeling the soft, tenderness of her small, delicate fingers. He got more close to her, and smelled... cinnamon?
"𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻."
".........what?"

Stanford Pines Sleep Comfort
So my new obsession’s been Gravity Falls. Idk why. I watched the whole show when I was younger. I guess it’s a good reminder of when I was younger and happier and didn’t have to deal with life like I do now. So I’ve been writing for this fandom. All of my other fandoms are on hold for a while. Anyways, enjoy!!
Tumblr media
Most nights it is nearly impossible to fall asleep in the darkness of your bedroom. Your room was in the attic next to Dipper and Mabel’s room. On restless nights you would make laps around the shack, first checking in on the twins. They’d be sound asleep in their beds, Waddles curled into a ball at the end of Mabel’s bed. Then you’d walk past Stan’s room, hearing his loud snores from out in the hall. You’d creep down the stairs, skipping the third and fifth step so as not to make them creak.
On this night in particular you decided that you were going to lay on the couch in the living room and watch tv. The volume was low and you laid and stared at the screen, starting to doze off. You pulled your blanket over your shoulders, snuggling your face into it. You reached above your head and grabbed the throw pillow above you. You pulled it to your chest and hugged it tight. As the movie on the tv ended, you fell asleep.
“... Y/N… wake up… not good… back…” You heard someone’s voice in the back of your mind. Assuming it was the tv, you continued to sleep. You were startled though when a hand was gently shaking your shoulder. You opened your eyes, your vision blurry. You rubbed your eyes and sat up.
Stanford was kneeling on the ground beside the couch, his hand still on your arm. He looked concerned, tilting his head to the side. “Y/N? Are you feeling well?”
You gave him a confused look. “Yeah, why?” You had never really had a conversation with the man, only seeing him here and there. You wanted to get to know him, since he did a lot of what you and Dipper used to do. The two of you would go out and investigate the paranormal, fighting creatures and adding notes to the journals. When Ford came along Dipper left you to go work with Ford. You’d stay back in the shack as they would go off on their own adventures, or hear them laughing from down in the basement. Since you’d never really talked to Ford, you were surprised he even knew your name.
“Y/N? Can you hear me?” You snapped back from your thoughts, forgetting that you were supposed to be talking.
“Huh? Oh, sorry. Yeah I can hear you,” you responded. “Sorry, I zoned out.”
“Are you sure you’re ok?” Stanford looked at you closely.
“Yes. Why wouldn’t I be?”
“You don’t look well,” he commented. “You look weak and pale.”
“Oh.” You looked down at your hands. They did look a bit pale and they were starting to shake. “I guess, yeah. I haven’t been sleeping much.”
Stanford leaned back to sit on the floor. “Dipper mentioned that you have a hard time sleeping.”
You looked back up to the man in front of you. “He talks about me?”
Ford smiled. “Quite a bit, actually. He’s told me many stories of your adventures together.”
You gave him a soft smile back. “Sorry about the new notes in the journals. We’d actually discovered so much new information that I started writing them down in my own journal.”
“I’d love to take a look at them, but for right now let’s focus on you,” Ford stated. “You look ill. Why don’t you go up to your room and get some rest?”
Your smile fell slightly. You pulled your blanket around your body even tighter, suddenly feeling self conscious. “Actually, that’s why I’m down here. I couldn’t sleep so I came down here.”
“Oh,” Ford sighed. “Well, is there anything I can do?”
You thought for a second. You didn’t want to make him stay with you, knowing he must be tired himself. You also didn’t know each other very well. “I don’t think so, thank you though.” You stood from your spot on the couch and stretched. “I think I’m going to go get some water. I’ll let you have the living room. I’ll go upstairs and find something to do.”
Stanford followed you to the kitchen. He noticed how you swayed slightly on your feet. “Why don’t you sit down? I can get your water.”
You shook your head, steadying yourself. “I can get it.”
“You look like you’re going to fall over any moment.” He wasn’t wrong. You felt it yourself. As you walked towards the cabinets you stumbled over your own foot, falling forward. Stanford grabbed you around the waist, pulling you back. You leaned back against him, slowly sliding down to the floor. He guided you to the floor, keeping you against him.
“It’s alright,” he said softly. “You’re ok. You’re just exhausted.”
“I’m sorry,” you apologized as you started to cry.
“Now now, don’t cry.” Ford was never great with handling human emotions. He rubbed your arm softly. “It’s ok. Lay down here on the floor while I get you some water.” He slid out from behind you, making sure you didn’t fall back and hit your head before he poured you a glass of cold water. Stanford sat down next to you and held the glass out to you. You took it from him and took big gulps of the cool liquid. Once you had managed to calm down, Ford spoke again.
“Would you like to come down in the basement with me? You need to rest but I do not feel comfortable with you going off on your own right now.”
You thought about it for a moment. You’ve always wanted to see what it was like down there. Part of you wondered if it was like Eren Jaeger’s basement -- high expectations and then there’s nothing big. You also didn’t trust yourself to make it all the way back up the stairs and to your room.
“Sure.” Ford gave you another kind smile before standing and reaching a hand towards you. You took it and he helped you to your feet, placing his hands on your shoulders when you stumbled slightly. He guided you to the basement, keeping a hand on the small of your back to help you keep your balance. When you reached the final step, you awed. There were notes and gadgets everywhere.
You stepped away from Ford as you looked around the room. Your eyes skimmed over the pages and pages of scribbled notes and pictures. You picked up one piece of paper, noticing the Acids and Bases title at the top.
“I love acids and bases,” you said to yourself, forgetting someone else was in the room.
“You do?” You turned around and remembered who else was with you. You nodded, putting the paper back where you found it. Ford joined you at the desk before leading you over to a cot in the corner of the room. “You can rest here.”
“Thank you,” you said quietly. You sat down on the bed before leaning back against the wall. “Is this, is this your bed?” You didn’t want to make yourself comfortable in someone else’s bed.
“No, it’s a spare that I keep in here for when I’m much like you. Overworked and exhausted,” he answered. You nodded, laying your head back against the wall. You watched as Stanford sat down in a chair in front of a desk. He turned to look at you. “Would it bother you if I worked while you slept?”
“Not at all.” He smiled slightly before turning to the desk and shuffling through a vanilla folder of papers. Your eyes started to droop as you watched him work.
You woke up to the sound of a computer keyboard and the shuffling of papers. You laid there with your eyes closed, trying to figure out where you were. Then you remembered that you were down in the basement with Stanford. You must have fallen asleep without knowing. You sat up and rubbed your eyes. Looking around the room you saw the man from last night still where he was when you dozed off.
“Good afternoon!” You were startled when Ford turned to look at you. “Rest well?”
You nodded and cleared your throat. “What time is it?” you asked.
“5:00,” he answered.
“In the morning?”
He chuckled, “No, in the afternoon. You’ve been out for quite a while.”
You shoot off of the bed, stumbling over your blanket. “What?! Ohhhh, Stan’s gonna kill me. I’m supposed to work today.” Stanford chuckled.
“Relax, there is no need to panic. I told him that you were down here with me because you were not feeling well.”
“Thank you,” you sighed as you sat back down on the bed. “Thank you.”
“It’s no problem at all,” Ford answered. “And of course, you’re welcome to come down here anytime you have trouble sleeping. I’m sure to be around.”

gravity falls headcanons!!
Tumblr media
dipper: it’s literally canon that dipper is very ticklish, and it’s also canon that his sister takes advantage of this fact. as shown in the show, he is definitely ticklish under his arms (and i wonder if he chose to target that spot on gideon because it’s his own worst spot?👀) but he’s pretty sensitive everywhere. his laugh is a bit high-pitched and very giggly, and if anyone other than mabel is tickling him, he gets incredibly blushy. he’s pretty embarrassed about how sensitive he is, because he feels like it’s childish or non-manly, but he just can’t help it! it definitely contributes to the amount of teasing he endures at the hands of his family and friends, but he doesn’t really mind that much. as a ler, he usually only goes after mabel, but he is ruthless and strategic. he memorizes his lee’s worst spots and the best ways to reduce them to giggly messes, and will make sure to tire them out enough so they can’t get revenge.
mabel: not quite as ticklish as her twin, but mabel is still definitely very ticklish. it’s very fitting with her bubbly personality, and her desire to make other people smile often leads to her launching tickle attacks. her most ticklish spot his her stomach and her laugh is usually composed of shrieks and snorts. as a ler though, she is even more ruthless than her brother, although not as strategic. she has no stealth while starting a tickle fight, which sometimes lets the other person get a head start to run away/strike first. she loves both sides of tickling though because she thinks it’s fun and a nice way to bond!! also, she will not hesitate to spill dipper’s tickle spots to others.
stan: like mabel, he’s the less ticklish twin, but that isn’t saying much. as the more rough-and-tough brother, he always wanted to start and finish tickle fights, but if ford managed to get hold of his ribs, he was done for. laugh is wheezy and is a major squirmer. as a ler, he’s very playful and loves to verbally tease.
ford: firstly, i would just like to say that his extra fingers are probably quite helpful while tickling someone. okay, anyway, ford is pretty ticklish and acts like he despises it, but as long as it’s someone close to him, he actually finds it a bit fun, but he would never admit it. his worst spot is his hips, and his laugh is very gruff. as a ler, he’d be verbally teasy but physically super gentle, and is the only person that can get away with tickling stan.
wendy: growing up in a big family prepared her for tickle fights at a very young age. she is the kind of ler who will pin you down and tickle until you agree to her terms, and she’ll be incredibly smug afterwards. however, she is pretty ticklish herself, mostly on her knees. luckily, she wears jeans so often, the spot is usually shielded by denim which masks the sensation. she’s also ticklish on her neck and ears, so the hat is good protection as well.
soos: i believe there’s a canon scene of soos giggling after being poked in the stomach, and honestly he just radiates ticklish tummy vibes. i don’t imagine him as super sensitive, but his stomach is his weak spot. he’s a very goofy ler, especially with the kids, chasing them around the mystery shack and scooping them up to be tickled.
pacifica: with a pretty unaffectionate family, pacifica doesn’t have much experience with tickling. she is pretty ticklish, especially on her sides, but if anyone tried she would probably shove them away. secretly, though, she longs for an affectionate, playful relationship with someone (platonically or romantically) and wouldn’t be upset if that special someone were to tickle her. as a ler, she wouldn’t be very confident at first, but once she got the hang of it, she would be totally cruel and make her lee beg. she likes the little power trip it gives her, and she also just likes being close with people.

GF - Timestuck AU: The Power of Mabel ch.1
While fighting over a time machine so one twin can win a pig or the other can win the heart of a girl, Mabel is left stranded in a snowy forest with no time machine and no brother. Oops.
ch.2
Beautiful artwork was created by @starstruck-loner! THANK YOU SO MUCH SWEETIE I LOVE IT!!!

Tumblr media
Snow freckled the chilly January day lightly, like powdered sugar over a freshly baked pastry, sticking to each layer effortlessly and creating a blanket that completely covered the woods and the cabin nested between the trees. The atmosphere was still and stiff, like frozen icicles that were not going to start dripping any time soon. The air was bitter and unwelcoming, which was probably why no living thing was outside today. Today was the perfect day to burrow and sleep and keep warm with your own body heat.
A crack through space-time cut through the air. The crushing of tiny ice particles followed as two twelve-year-olds ran, one chasing the other, as the time-tape was heating up and buzzing. “This thing is getting hotter! Hot! Hot, hot, hot!” Mabel attempted to save her palms from burns by bouncing the tiny machine between her hands.
“What are you doing?!” Dipper demanded as Mabel bounced the tape-measure too hard and her twin reached a hand to catch it. He managed to catch it perfectly, like an athlete catching a baseball, and then was gone in a flash of baby-blue lightning.
Mabel’s eyes widened in sheer panic and she held her arms as a gust of wind blew and nearly froze her to her core. It felt like her skin was being pricked by mean sewing needles. She looked around wildly for her brother, for him to come back to this time and place immediately, because surely he would use the time machine to come back, but seconds ticked by and she was still alone.
Puffs of smoke decorated the wintry scene as she held her shivering body and looked at the shack. It wasn’t as colorful and welcoming and loud as the shack Mabel remembered, but she made herself consider that it was because there was no big sign or tourist-y things, and it was winter. Then a light turned on, the hall if Mabel remembered her summer home correctly, and the door opened.
The hope that Mabel had in her chest of seeing her great-uncle was gone, and replaced with fear and confusion. This man looked very much like Stan, though much younger, quite chubby and youthful, wearing a black t-shirt and blue plaid pajama-pants. He had the same face as a young-Stan, but with a more pink than orange nose, a cleft chin, fluffier hair that reminded Mabel of her’s when it was short, and different glasses.
Mabel didn’t know what to do or how to react or how to feel. People change a lot when they age, sure, but this much? It was possible this person wasn’t Stan, but who else would look so similar to him and live in this house? Maybe this is the guy who lived here before Stan, and they just happen to look very similar. This is Gravity Falls, and though she and Dipper were still new to the town, it was a weird place where something like this could happen.
It also came to Mabel how odd the situation was for the man: a little girl was standing in a sweater and skirt outside his house in the winter. Would he try to send her home? She had no home to go to. She didn’t know what year this was, but if it was a time Stan didn’t live here, it must have been way before she was born, maybe even before her parents met. She was stranded.
But the man looked at her sympathetically and he seemed kind and worried. He grabbed a trenchcoat and called gently, “Hello. Are you okay?”
Mabel bit her lip. His voice was definitely not Grunkle Stan’s. A gust of wind made her shiver and her teeth chatter, and the man stepped into some slippers and walked up to her, draping the trenchcoat over her shoulders. “There there, that’s a very nice sweater, but it doesn’t seem to be keeping you warm, is it?”
“N-No.” Mabel shivered. “I… I used breathable yarn for…” She stopped. She was going to say how she used breathable yarn for the warm California weather, but she decided not to.
“You used?” The man repeated, rubbing her shoulders to try to make the trenchcoat work faster. “You made this?”
Mabel saw his excited grin and she smiled nervously. “Y-Yeah. I knit sweaters.”
The man bent his knees in front of her and studied her sweater. She held out an arm so he could see and his brown eyes sparkled. “That’s very impressive! I love sweaters!”
Mabel gasped happily. “C-C-Can I m-make you one?!”
The man looked taken back, but chuckled and stood. “Of course, but first let’s get you warm. How does hot chocolate sound?”
“Y-Yes, p-p-please.” Mabel shivered, and allowed the man to walk her into the house.
It was scaringly like the Mystery Shack, but so much was different. It was the same layout, the same house, but there was so much that was different. A coat rack stood by the door, holding a white lab coat with black rubber gloves in the pocket, some safety goggles like the ones in Mabel’s science classes, and Stan’s fez. Mabel stared at it. Well, okay it probably wasn’t Stan’s fez, but it was a maroon fez with a golden fish and a black tassle.
There was a wood-burning stove alive in the living room, with a small box full of wood by it and a tiny stool. Instead of Grunkle Stan’s armchair, there was a red-velvet couch, a large writing desk, and the room was decorated with books, desks, papers, and jars and experiments. It was all strange, but warm and cozy with the fire going.
Mabel smiled as the man pulled out the tiny stool and gestured for her to sit by the stove. She obeyed and the coat was removed from her shoulders, but quickly replaced with a dark-green blanket.
“There, do you mind warming up here while I make your hot chocolate?” He asked, draping his trenchcoat over his arm.
Mabel shook her head and held her cold hands in front of the stove. “Thank you.”
The man smiled. “You’re welcome.” And he turned and left for where Mabel knew the kitchen was.
Sitting alone and feeling better as her body was getting warm, Mabel thought it all over. This man was clearly not her Grunkle Stan, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t nice or couldn’t help her. Any minute Dipper was going to come back for her, but until then she had to stay where she was. That’s what grown-ups told her to do if she was ever lost. Stay where you are until you’re found.
By the time Mabel was very comfortable, the man returned with two mugs of steaming hot chocolate with extra marshmallows, and handed one to the girl. “Here you are, my dear.”
“Thank you, sir.” Mabel sipped and hummed in delight as the man sat on the floor next to her.
“You’re very welcome.” He sipped his drink and added, “Now then, I have to ask, what were you doing out there? Did you get lost?”
Mabel’s face dropped and she nodded. “Uh, huh.”
“Hm, very well. That can easily happen when playing on a snow day.” The man said with a smile. “Why don’t I call our parents and we can arrange to have you back home safe?”
Mabel swallowed nervously. She bit her lip, looking down at her mug. She didn’t know what to say to that.
The man looked at her and noticed how scared she was. “Is something wrong?”
Mabel looked up at him, was met with a kind face, and whimpered, “I can’t call them.”
The man smiled sympathetically. “I’m sure you won’t get into too much trouble. Maybe a little, but it’s for the best to call them so we can get you home soon.”
Mabel shook her head and squeezed her stinging eyes shut. “They’re… not around.”
The man’s face dropped as Mabel scrubbed at her eyes. “Oh. I’m so sorry.”
Mabel only replied with a sniff and she sipped her hot chocolate.
“Is there someone I can call for you?” The man asked. “I’m sure there’s someone out there worried about you.”
Mabel bit her lip. “M-My brother… He’s still out there…”
“Is he lost, too?”
Mabel shrugged.
“Well,” The man held his cleft chin in thought. “I’m sure he’s out there looking for you. Perhaps then you should wait here until he comes here, and then we can send you to your guardian.”
“It’s just us.” Mabel muttered. “Just us.”
The man smiled. Mabel hoped he believed her brother was much older than her, or at least old enough to take care of her. That way she wasn’t really lying, just letting this man believe what he wanted to believe. Nothing wrong with that. “Okay. Still, you may stay here until he finds you.”
Mabel sniffed and wiped her nose with her sweater sleeve. “Thank you, sir.”
“Please, call me Ford.” He said and held out a hand to her.
Mabel smiled and shook his hand. “I’m Mabel.”
“Mabel, huh? That’s a beautiful name.”
“Thanks.” She looked down at their hands and her eyes widened. One, two, three, four, five, s-...
Ford pulled his hand free, his cheeks reddening as he sipped his hot chocolate, but Mabel was grinning at him happily and she gasped with joy, “You have six fingers?!”
Ford blinked at her, reminding Mabel of a startled owl, and he cleared his throat. “Um, y-yes. It’s a birth defect.”
“Nuh, huh! It’s cool! Can I see, please?” Mabel sat her mug on the floor by her feet.
The researcher didn’t like people staring at his hands, but this young girl wanted to look, it appears, in admiration, so Ford hesitantly gave her his hands and she held them lovingly, her eyes sparkling like stars.
“Wow! That’s neat! No wonder your hand shake was so friendly! It’s a whole finger friendlier than normal!” Mabel was then reminded that Dipper’s journal had a six-fingered hand on it.
The girl’s eyes widened as she wondered if she was meeting Dipper’s idol. It was possible. The journal Dipper had dated it in the 80s, and Dipper said that the author mysteriously disappeared. As exciting as it was to meet the Author of the Journals, all it did was put Mabel more at ease. If anyone can help her, he can.
Ford laughed and gave her hands a soft squeeze. “I like you! You’re weird.”
Mabel grinned, distracted from her thoughts and grateful for it. “I like you, too, Ford!”

Waiting For You Part Five (Ford Pines x Reader) What’s Lost Isn’t Forgotten
“Brother!” Stan calls and walks towards Ford. Ford unexpectedly punches him in the face and begins arguing with him.
She takes a step forward and calls Ford’s name. He looks over at her and his face turns to disbelief, and he lets go of Stan.
He whispers her name. “Is it really you?” All she can do is nod and she runs forwards to hug him. He lifts her and spends her around. “I can’t believe it.” He sets her down and moves his hands to cup her face to pull her up for a kiss. “It really is you.”
Their tender moment was interrupted by Mabel.
She pulls away from Ford, red in the face, having forgotten the kids and Soos were even down here.
Ford is introduced to Mabel, then Dipper who freaks out. He spouts off about how he has so many questions and mentions how he can’t believe you’re married to the author of the journals.
She sits and listens to their whole ‘mysterious backstory’ as Mabel calls it. Enjoying hearing the story from both sides. After the whole situation was over Stan sent the kids off to bed.
She walked them upstairs to give the brothers some time alone to talk. Dipper bombarded her with questions that she happily answered. “No more secrets from me, promise.” She used her finger to cross her heart.
She tucked Dipper into bed then Mabel. “Thank you, Mable.” She smiled sweetly as Mabel looked confused.
“For what?” Mabel askes.
“You said you’d find me a boyfriend by the end of the summer, and if it weren’t for you I wouldn’t have my boyfriend back.” She smiles as Mabel's eyes grow wide, as does her smile.
“Thank you too, Dipper. If you had never found the journal we wouldn’t have been able to get him back either. I’ll make sure you get to ask him plenty of questions soon, alright?” She promised and wished them a goodnight.
She comes back down the stairs to see the two brothers arguing and frowns as Stan storms away from him. Walking up to Ford she wraps her arms around him and he does the same. She breathes a sigh of relief.
“I’ve missed you so much,” she whispers.
“I’ve missed you too, more than I can say with words.” He leans down to kiss her forehead.
“Let’s go to sleep.” She takes his hand and starts walking to the bed room.
He turns to go into his old room but she stops him. “There’s no bed in there anymore. When I, um, we lost you, it was too painful to stay in there alone.”
He nods in understanding and follows her to her room. She closes the door behind her and he pulls her into another hug. “Did you really wait for me? For thirty years?”
“Oh course I did, Stanford.” She looks up at him concerned.
“It’s just that, you could have started a new life. You could have had a family.” His face is sad, almost guilty.
“I didn’t want to, Ford. Not without you.” She brought her hand to show him the ring he gave her. “You’re my family.”
He only nods before leaning down to kiss her. She leans into the kiss but feels tears begin to fall from her eyes, overwhelmed with emotions. Pulling away she wipes her cheeks, but sees that Ford is crying as well. They lock eyes and laugh, both wiping at their tears.
“We’ve both had a very emotional day. Let’s go to sleep.” She walks over to the dresser and digs around for a moment. “These are yours.” She states. “I’m not sure they’ll still fit though you look… More built.” She smirks.
He takes the clothes from her and watches and she begins to change into her night shirt. His eyes can’t pull away as she pulls her shirt over her head. She’s still as beautiful as the day he disappeared, but her body is different. It’s softer, with more age lines, but he feels awestruck by her beauty.
“Ford, you’re staring.” She looks embarrassed. “I know I’m not as young and fit as I was but-”
“You’re absolutely stunning. You look different, but in the most amazing way possible.” He assures her.
She nodded and finished changing. Her face turned mischievous as she looked at him. “Now it’s my turn to watch.”
He can’t help the heat that rises to his cheeks. “Uh, right.” He sits down and takes off his boots, and stands to remove his sweater. “Listen, I… The dimensions I visited weren't always friendly. I have some scars.”
“Ford, it’s alright. I expected as much.” She lays a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
She thought he would have scars, but didn't expect so many. “Oh, Ford.” She whimpers.
Almost his entire torso is covered in scars. She lays a hand over his peck and runs her fingers over one long scar. He sighs at her touch. “I’m so sorry,” she sniffs.
He takes her hand from his chest and raises it to his lips to kiss it. “Don’t think too much of it. For every hostile being I meet, there were just as many friendly ones who helped patch me up.” He slips his shirt on over his head, finding it just a little tight, but would work for the night.
She climbs into bed, with Ford right behind her, and snuggles close to him. He wraps his arms around her and holds her tight. “I love you, goodnight.”
“I love you, Ford. I’m so glad you’re back.” She yawns before falling asleep.
He wakes up from a nightmare and looks around the room. Although a little unfamiliar he knows he’s home. Looking at his side he sees his love gone from his side. His heart still beating fast from his dream he starts to panic, and calls her name.
Right as he does she walks back into the room and closes the door. “What’s wrong?” She quickly makes her way over to him. “I’m sorry, I was just in the bathroom. Are you alright?” Sitting back on the bed she pulls him close to her.
He sighs at the touch. “Just a bad dream is all. Have them quite frequently.”
“You can always wake me up, okay?” She coos, and kisses him on the shoulder. “Can you go back to sleep or do you need to stay up for a minute?”
He can’t help as a yawn escapes him. “I can sleep.”
They cuddle back together, but she stays awake until she is sure he’s asleep.
When she wakes up the sun is shining in through the curtains. She can feel the even breaths Ford is breathing under her cheek.
She shifts her head to look up at his sleeping face. Examining all the details that are the same, and how it’s changed. He still has a strong jawline, if not stronger. The hair on his head is graying, much like hers, and he has wrinkles under and beside his eyes.
She cant help herself from reaching up and running her hand across the stubble on his jaw. His eyes are still closed but he smiles.
He takes her hand and kisses it. “Good morning.”
She responds by moving off his chest up to his mouth to kiss him. “It’s a very good morning.” He kisses her back. “Maybe the best morning ever.”
He chuckles and she can feel his chest rumble under her hand. “I couldn’t agree more.”
Running her thumb over his stubble she smiles. “I can’t believe you got more handsome.” Ford’s cheeks turn red and he looks away. She laughs. “I see you’re still just as bashful.”
“I was just thinking the same thing about you.” He pulls her into another kiss, then another, and another. Sitting up, he pulls her into his lap. Now it’s her turn to blush.
There’s a knock on the door and Mabel’s voice sounds from the other side. She calls her name, but adds ‘Graunt’ in front of it. “Grunkle Stan is taking us to the diner! He said if you wanna come be in the car in five minutes or we’re leaving you!” Then her footsteps are heard running down the stairs.
Ford looks down at the woman in his lap. Her hand is held over her mouth, but he can see the impossibly wide smile behind it. “She called me her graunt…” Her heart feels so impossibly full from the simple word.
“Well you technically are.” Ford chuckles. “That seems to mean a lot to you. You must really care for those two.”
She nods. “Ford, they are such incredible kids. I’m excited for you to get to know them more. Dipper reminds me so much of you.” Ford frowns, and it doesn’t go unnoticed. “What’s wrong?”
“When Stan and I were talking last night, well, it was more of arguing, he told me he wanted me to stay away from the kids. I agreed. I also told him he can stay here until the end of the summer with the kids, but after he has to leave, and all this Mystery Shack nonsense ends.” He informs her.
“I, but Ford…” She was unsure what to say. It all seemed so unfair, so she decided to tell him. “That seems unfair to me.” She moved to sit on her knees next to him and took his hand in hers. “I might be being selfish but I just got you back, and now you want Stan to leave? We worked so hard to bring you back, Ford, and while you were gone Stan took care of me.” She sighs. “I, Ford, I was ready to give up but he wouldn’t let me. The only reason he opened the shack was to get money. I was spending every second of every day in the basement. Stan made sure I ate, and slept. He made sure I was taken care of.”
Ford scans her face. “Were you two…” He can’t finish his thought, but she gets what he means.
She can’t help but laugh. “Ford, you’re brother and I were nothing more than friends.” She thinks for a second. “We kissed once and it was terrible,” she laughs again. “But beside you, Ford, he’s my best friend, and your brother. All I’m asking is that you just think about reconsidering.”
His face is stern but he nods. “I’ll think about it.”
“That’s all I ask.” She kisses him. There’s a squeal of car tires from outside signaling Stan and the kids are gone. “So how would you like to spend the rest of the morning?” She smirks.
“Well, I’d like to check on the portal, and my experiments.” He says thinking aloud.
She laughs and moves to straddle his lap, moving her hands to his chest, and kissing his collar bone. “I was thinking we could make up for lost time.”
“I like that idea much more.” He pulls her close.
----------
It’s midday when they make their way down into the lab. As Stan requested, Ford avoids the kids.
They stand in front of the portal.
“This was such a risky move.” He says without thinking.
“It was a risk I had to take.” She doesn’t apologize.
“I’m…” he wraps her in a hug. “I appreciate you getting me home, I really do. I thought I’d never see you again. However,” he looks back up at the portal. “We have to destroy this.”
She agrees and they get to work.
They have the portal about halfway deconstructed when one of the higher up panels starts to sway. Ford notices it moving and looks up, right as it breaks away and begins to fall. She is standing right below it.
“Watch out!” Ford dives towards her and pushes her out of the way, the metal panel making contact directly with his head and he falls to the ground motionless.
“Ford?” A small pool of blood has begun collecting around his head. “Oh my god Ford!” She yells and shakes his shoulder to stir him.
Tears begin to form in her eyes right as he opens his eyes. He looks at her and smiles.
“Ford?” She asks again.
He sits up and grabs his head. “Are you alright?” He asks.
She looks at him in disbelief before moving to check where his head is wounded. “Are you insane? I’m fine, you’re the one who's bleeding!”
“Hey, hey!” He takes her face in his hands forcing her to make eye contact. “I’m alright really, look.” Ford knocks on his head next to where he’s bleeding and there is a loud metallic banging.
She’s still looking at his eyes wide with confusion.
“A had a metal plate installed in my head that way Bill could never enter my mind again. It’s just a little cut, promise I’m alright.” He brushes a tear away from her cheek.
“God, Ford,” she sniffs. “I just got you back. I thought I was going to lose you again.” She pulls him in for a hug, not worrying about the blood that seeps down onto her sleeve.
“You can’t get rid of me that easily.” He jokes and she lightly smacks his shoulder.
She pulls away from the hug to give him a passionate kiss, which he is happy to return.
“Come on, let’s get you cleaned up.” She takes his hand and pulls him up. His balance wavers and he grabs onto her shoulder. She helps him sit down in a chair and hurries back with the first aid kit, which she always made sure was well stocked with how much Stan hurt himself.
She begins cleaning his head wound. “You really have to be more careful.” She can’t help but scold him. One hand holds his cheek steady, he doesn’t move and Ford leans into her touch.
“I’d rather I get hurt over you anyday.” He doesn’t apologize.
“I just got you back.” She sighs.
Ford brings his hand up to caress one on his cheek. “I just got you back as well.” He reminds her.
She pauses, not having really thought of it that way, then continues cleaning his wound. “I guess even after all this time we are both just as hard headed.”
When she's done stitching his cut shut she kisses the top of his head for good measure. “There, that should be good as long as you don’t take any more metal panels to the head.”
He beams up at her. “How did you get so good at that?”
“Stan hurt himself a lot while we were working on the portal. I got used to stitching him up since it was faster and cheaper than going to the hospital every other day.” She gives him a sad smile. “Although you were a lot less whiny than Stan normally is.”
He hums in thought. “Maybe taking a break from the portal for a minute would be a good idea.”
“I agree. I’m going to go change out of this bloody shirt first.” She motions down at her blood soaked sleeve.
He grabs her arm as she begins to walk away. She can see the uncertainty on his face. Leaning down she places a gentle kiss to his lips.
“I’m only going upstairs. I won’t be far.” She looks into his eyes and he nods. “Plus I'm sure you brought back some experiments you need to check on.
She makes her way upstairs and almost makes it to her room before she bumps into Stan.
“Geez, kid, watch where you’re-” He stops talking and grimaces at the blood on her sleeve.”
She looks down and realizes what the problem is. “Oh, don’t worry it’s not mine.”
Stan’s face doesn’t look any less concerned.
“Ford’s fine too, just a little accident. You know how it goes.” She can’t help but laugh.
Stan grumbles something then walks away. An unusually harsh treatment from her normally warm best friend. She brushes it off though and quickly changes. When She’s back downstairs she finds everyone hanging out in the gift shop.
She greets them but only Mable acknowledges her. Stan’s head shoved deep in a newspaper and Dipper’s in Ford’s journal. There’s a moment of silence before Ford bursts out of his lab with a weird octopus-like creature stuck to his arm.
She tries to keep Dipper and Mable behind her for safety but they both peer around her eager to see their new Grunkle. Ford captures the creature easily enough and starts to head back to the lab, but Dipper’s right on his trail offering to help.
Ford turns down his offer before closing the door. Stan gives Dipper a lecture about staying away from Ford.
Dipper points at his newly titled Graunt. “But she gets to spend time with him and do dangerous stuff.”
She frowns. “Dipper, I’m an adult and have been doing this for a long time.”
“You’re still going to watch the season finale of Duck-Tective with us Friday, right?” Mabel checks.
“Absolutely. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
The next week is spent helping Ford disassemble the portal and helping Stan with the shack. She getting ready for bed when Ford comes into the room beaming and gabbing about playing DD&MD that day.
She smiles and sits on the bed. “I’m glad you're spending time with him. He reminds me so much of you.” her smile falls for a second. “But didn’t Stan ask you to stay away from the kids?”
Ford is taking his boots off and he freezes and thinks. “Stan will just have to get over himself.
She sighs and lays back onto the bed. “I know you and Stan didn’t have the best relationship before you went into the portal, and I knew it wouldn’t be magically fixed when we got you back, but I did hope it would be a little bit better.” She feels the bed shift as Ford sits next to her.
“Mine and Stan’s relationship has been complicated for a long time. Him bringing me back isn’t going to fix it overnight.” He places his hand on hers.
“I know but,” she sits up with a huff. “I feel like neither of you are trying. When summer ends I don’t want to lose my best friend. Stan means a lot to me, and he’s your brother. I wish you would both just try.
Ford looks almost mad for a second before his face softens. “Come here.” He pulls her into his lap. “For you, I’ll try. Promise… Well… I’ll at least try to be civil.”
She looks at him with a pout before she buries her head in the crook of his neck. “Fine.” She whines with a yawn.
The next day she's ready to watch the season finale of Duck-Tective with Mabel, Stan, and Grenda. She smiles to see Ford is sitting cross legged on the ground playing DD&MD just like they did in college and spending time with his great nephew. However her smile fades when Stan and Ford begin to argue. The argument turns for the worst when Stan throw Ford’s bag on dice on to the ground and causes them to scatter. Then they have to go on a ridiculous fantastic quest to save Dipper and Ford.
Afterwards Stan apologizes to Dipper and it warms her heart. He even says it's okay if Dipper spends time with Ford. She was a little disappointed Ford didn’t join them to watch Their show but she understood. After it was over Dipper went to find Ford.
She sat at the table with Stan to have a drink.
“You were very sweet today.” She almost teases Stan.
“Think you got me mistaken with someone else.” Stan grunts as he sits.
“No, the fact you changed your mind to let Dipper spend time with Ford is really sweet. I don’t think I have to tell you how similar they are. Plus I think it’ll be nice that Dipper can ask him questions himself instead of him asking me to ask Ford questions.” She smiles over her glass at Stan.
Stan frowns deepens. “Didn’t do it for Ford. Did it for Dipper. Ford still hasn’t told me thank you, and I haven’t forgotten.”
She groans. “Why do you two have to be like this?!” She almost shouts. “You’re both so stubborn and hard headed. If you two could just sit down and talk about your feelings like real adults I don’t think we’d have a problem.”
“Not until he tells me thank you!” Stan raises his voice back.
She slams her hand on the table and stands up. “He hasn’t even told me thank you, Stan! He’s appreciative to be home but he’s still upset we risked this whole universe for him!”
Stan stands up and opens his mouth to say something but closes it. He is absolutely fuming as he storms away from you.
She stands there for a second more before sitting back down with her face in her hands. Quiet tears fall down her face and she cries alone for a few minutes. Then she feels a hand on her back.
“Darling, are you crying? What’s wrong?” Ford’s warm, wide hand begins to stroke reassuring circles on her back.
She wraps her arms around his neck and brings him in for a hug. “I’ve just had a lot of big emotions this week. Think they’ve finally caught back up to me at once.” She’s not lying, she's had a lot of emotions to work through this week, but she doesn’t want to mention arguing with Stan. It would just make everything worse.
“Why don’t we get you to bed.” Ford suggests and she nods silently.
She tries to stand, but before she can Ford picks her up bridal style bringing a smile to her face. “Ford, I can walk.”
He kisses her forehead. “I know. But you’ve done so much for me, let me?” He wants to be sure it’s okay. She nods and falls asleep in his arms before they reach their room.
----------
Ford sits up from a nightmare which draws her from her sleep as well. Before she can even ask what’s wrong he tells her.
“We have to warn them. He’s coming.”
----------
“You gave her what?” She shouts at Ford once he tells her about his meeting with Dipper and Mable.
“Was that… was that bad?” Ford’s face flushes red.
“Stanford you gave a twelve year old a crossbow!” She stares at him in disbelief. “Would you or Stanley have been able to use one at twelve?”
Ford thinks for a second and opens his mouth and thinks better of it.
She sighs. “I’ll just go with them to make sure they’re safe.” She srumbles together her things and tosses on a bag. She's about to walk out the door without saying anything when Ford grabs her arm.
“Let’s not part ways angry.” His eyes look over her face and he looks so unbelievably caring.
She sighs and pulls him into a kiss. “I’m not angry, I’m just worried about Mabel. She sometimes doesn't have the best judgment of character. Did I tell you she dated the gnomes at the beginning of summer?”
He laughs against her lips. “I understand you’re worried.” He pauses and thinks for a moment. “I’m worried too. Last time I encountered Bill he drove me away from you. I can’t let that happen again.”
She gives him another kiss. “I know you won’t.”
Later she returns with the girls to the shack, beaten and bruised.
Ford gives her a kiss and congratulates them on getting the unicorn hair. Dipper helps them glue the unicorn hair to the outside of the shack. Ford wraps his arm around her shoulder and she can’t but feel a little bit safer.
----------
She stares at the rift. “Ford it’s….”
He sighs and places his hand on her shoulder. “I’m aware.”
“You didn’t tell me?” She looks at him hurt.
“I didn’t keep it from you to keep it secret. I just didn’t want you to worry.” He sighs.
“But I could help. Ford I just got you back and now it feels like the world is about to end. I can’t lose you again.” He places her hand on top of his.
“Nor I you.” He looks in her eyes then looks away and clears his throat. “I was hoping that, um…” Ford searches his brain for the right words.
“Ford you know I’ll do anything for you, just ask.” She smiles sweetly at him.
“Well, I don’t need you to do anything for me. I was just hoping you’d do something with me.” He wraps his arms around her and rests his forehead on her. “When all this nonsense with Bill is done, I’d really like to finally marry you.”
She laughs. She cannot help it, but she laughs. Ford looks almost hurt. Her hands come up to cup her face and bring him in for a kiss. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t laugh. I just can't believe you were worried about asking me that. I’ve waited thirty year for you, of course I’m going to marry you.”
He smiles against her lips before bringing her back in for another kiss. “I’m the luckiest man alive to have you for a wife.”
“I’m the luckiest woman alive.”
----------
She runs after Mabel as soon as she runs from the shack, but by the time she reaches her, Bill has already been released into reality.
“Mabel no!” She screams as she watches the small girl suspended in the air as she gets wrapped in a bubble and chains and flown away.
“Well, well, well, well, well, well, well. Look what we have here! If it isn’t peace sign herself!” A voice behind her booms.
She turns around, already sure of who the voice belongs to. “Bill.”
“In the flesh!” He confirms as the yellow on his triangle opens and closes, revealing flesh and bones.
She turns and tries to run back to the shack, but is stopped as she is suspended in the air.
“Not so fast peace sign! I think you’d be a useful pawn against my dear friend six fingers!” Bill snaps his fingers and she is encased in a bubble similar to the one that carried Mabel away. “Can't have anything happening to you!” The bubble begins to move and flies to Bill’s Fearamid.
Bill keeps her behind bars. She sits and watches helplessly as people she knows from town are brought in one by one, turned to stone, and placed on Bill’s throne. She silently wishes Bill would have done the same to her, to spare her the awful reality in which she has to witness all this awful weirdness. But she knows that’s probably exactly why Bill didn’t turn her to stone, to make her suffer.
She won’t give up hope yet. She knows as long as Ford is out there fighting, there is still hope. That hope is quickly shattered as she watches Bill set Ford by his throne.
“Hey peace sign! Like my new back scratcher?!” He cackles at her anguished face. “The extra finger really adds to the scratch!”
She pulls her knees to her chest and quietly cries.
By the fourth day she can’t cry anymore, her head aches, her eyes are red and puffy, and she wishes she could sleep more than five minutes. The blaring music she had gotten used to, but the second one of Bill’s minions noticed she was asleep, they'd come over and smack the bars of her cage and wake her up.
---------
Stan is extremely relieved when the kids barge back into the shack. After he greets everyone he looks at the door expectantly.
“Are Fords and-” He tries to say but Dipper knows what he's going to ask.
“I know for a fact Bill has Grunkle Ford, but as for…” Dipper trails off.
They begin to argue a course of action and the other townspeople when Stan accidentally turns on the television. Every person and creature in the shack is brought to the reality that the people of Gravity Falls are being turned into stone, then the camera pans over to show their friend and Graunt.
She is behind bars and looks absolutely worn down.
Mabel and Dipper begin to hype everyone up to band together, but Stan is fast to voice his opinion against it.
“Grunkle Stan how can you say that?” Mabel pouts. “Bill has your best friend and brother. Are you just going to sit her while she suffers?”
Stan watches as everyone begins to form a plan.
----------
“Everyone has a weakness though guy, I’ll make you talk.” Bill threatens Ford at the top of the Fearamid. Ford is placed in chains.
Bill snaps and Ford watches in horror as his fiance appears next to the triangular menace.
“Don’t listen to him, Ford. I’m fine, don’t-” a rope comes up and wraps around her body and mouth.
“No!” Ford lets out an anguished scream. “Let her go, she has nothing to do with this.”
“Oh, Fordsie! Did you forget all the time we spent together? I’ve been in that silly little brain of yours, and I know how much she consumes your every thought! Did you forget who it was that showed you where the ufo was so you could propose to her there?! I know with her by my side I can get you to do what I want! Or maybe…”
Bill draws her close to his eye and looks closely at her. “If you know how to bring down the barrier she must know too! I’ll get one of you to talk for sure!”
----------
She watches in horror as Bill begins electrocuting Ford, knowing she would be next.
“If only one of you would talk, then you wouldn’t have to watch the love of your life torchered!” Bill cackles boisterously.
There’s a loud crash as the Mystery Shack crashes through one of the walls. She looks at Ford with hope on her face. Until Bill realizes maybe if he tortured the kids he could get Ford or her to talk, they both begin to yell before being turned to stone.
Her vision returns to her and she looks around to see everyone back to their normal selves. Ford takes her hand and pulls her to the kids where they share in a group hug.
Ford’s taken aback when he sees his old friend Fiddleford. She feels bad never having gotten around to telling Ford what happened to him. They share in a few heartfelt words and a hug before Dipper brings everyone's attention back to the fact that Bill is outside.
“Drawing a circle on the floor. Well. he’s lost his mind.” Stan shouts.
She lays a hand on Stan’s arm. “Trust him. Please.” Her smile is tired, and she looks so weak compared to the normal strong woman Stan was sued to seeing.
Ford explains the meaning of the symbol on the floor, and everyone begins taking their places.
“The peace sign.” Ford smiles fondly as she takes your place between him and Stan’s symbol.
Everyone takes hands and the ground begins to shake. She reaches her hand out towards Stan.
Stan begins to argue and everyone pleads him to join the circle.
“Stan, please.” She begs her friend.
“Fine, just do one thing, say thank you.” Stan says.
Her heart drops to her stomach. She knew both brothers were too proud and now wasn’t the time for this.
“What?” Ford gawks.
“We spent thirty years trying to bring you back and you couldn’t even tell me or your girlfriend, not wife, thank you!?” Stan barks.
She felt tears begin to prick her eyes. There was no need for Stan to add that she wasn’t his wife yet. She knew he was angry and being petty but it hurt.
“Now’s not the time, Stan.” She scowled, blinking back tears.
“Fine. Thank you.” Ford begrudgingly says and Stan takes his hand. It looks like for a second it might be working, until Stan begins to fight with his brother and breaks the circle.
“You two stop!” She shouts.
But it’s too late. Bill has arrived. He takes Stan, Ford, and her into his grasp and everyone gets ready to fight. Bill snaps his fingers but everyone but the twins levitates and disappears. The young twins are entrapped in a cage.
“Last chance: Tell me how to take Weirdmageddon global and I’ll spare the kids!” Bill threatens.
Mabel yells at him and gets his attention before spraying him in his eye with spray paint, causing his grip on the three to disappear. The kids free themselves and order them to run. The kids run off and they try to follow but Bill traps the three of them in another cage.
All she can do is sit beside Ford as he and his brother share a moment. Ford finally stands and states his idea of letting Bill inside his head.
“You can’t do that to Ford.” She grabs his hand.
“I’ll,” She chokes on her words. “I’ll let him inside my mind and you can erase him.” She's scared. She's so extremely scared to lose everything important to her, but she’s more afraid of losing Dipper and Mabel.
The brothers share a look. “Absolutely not.” They say at the same time.
“But, but,” She whimpers.
“What if…” Stan states his plan, and she's against it. She’d rather take the sacrifice but she knows neither of them would let her. So she watches helplessly as the two exchange clothes.
Stan brings her into a hug. “You’ve really made my life worth living, kid.”
She hugs him as tight as she can. “Don’t talk like this is goodbye, because it’s not.” She kisses his cheek. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” Stan reminds her, he shares a quick glance and hug from his brother, then they wait.
Everything that happens next happens in a blur. Stan, dressed as Ford, agrees to help Bill and steps towards him and Ford and her and are held in bonds again. Dipper screams for Ford to stop. Her vision blurs with tears.
As soon as Bill enters Stan’s mind she kneels down and draws both of the twins close to her and watches helplessly as Ford erases Stanley’s mind.
Everything returns to the normal state it should be. Mabel rushes to Stan's side and begins to praise him, but quickly she has to be pulled back.
She pulls Mabel into a tight hug as Ford explains what happened. They all cry, then they head back to the remains of the shack. The twins hold Stan’s hands.
Her hand is held tight in Ford’s, he holds her hand back equally as tight.
They stand awkwardly in front of Stan as he sits in his chair. Mabel refuses to accept Stan is gone and begins showing him her scrapbook from the summer. To everyone's surprise, it actually starts to work. They all gather around his chair while she reads.
-----------
It’s a few days later and Stan has recovered a lot of his memory. He’s not exactly himself yet but he is on the road to recovery.
It’s late in the afternoon and she’s outside repairing the steps up to the shack when Stan finds her. She greets him with a bright smile.
“Stanley!” She beams. “How are you feeling?” She takes a break from her work and sits down.
“Hey, kid. I’m feeling pretty good.” He smiles back and sits beside her. Then he begins to rub the back of his neck.
“What’s on your mind?” She places a hand on his shoulder.
“How’d ya know?”
“You always rub your neck like that when somethings on your mind.” She reminds him.
He pulls him hand down into his lap and sighs. “Listen, I feel like before I wasn’t the best at expressing my emotions, and when I fully recover I’m probably going to be the same again.” He thinks for a second. “I wanted to let you know that besides Ford, you’re the most important person in my life. You’re my best friend and you’ve been with me through everything, despite what an ass I can be a lot of the time. I wanted to say, ya know, thanks, and I love you.”
Stan can’t look at her face to see her reaction because she pulls him into the tightest bear hug. “I know, but it feels good to hear you say it. You’re my best friend too. If it weren’t for you I wouldn’t have Ford back.” She pulls back from the hug and sits.
“And another thing… I remember when we were all taking hands back during,” he waves his hand, “Ya know… I pointed out you weren’t married to Ford yet. I did it just to hurt your feelings. I was mad that you were okay he hadn’t said thank you to us yet. You’ve always been more level headed than me, more of a peacekeeper.”
She laughs. “I guess that’s why I was the peace sign.” She jokingly throws up a peace sign with her hands. “Joking aside though, all is forgiven Stanley. I could never stay mad at you. It means a lot to hear you talk like this. I know in a few days you won’t want to have conversations like this, so it’s nice, ya know?” The two of them sit in silence as the clouds pass overhead.
----------
Miraculously the Mystery Shack is back in one piece in just a week. Just in time for Dipper and Mabel’s birthday. Ford pulls Stan aside to tell him his plan to sail around the world.
She and Ford had discussed it beforehand, and she understood the boys needed some time alone to bond. She’d be happy waiting for them both to return back home.
“What are you crazy?” Stan playfully shoved his brother. “She’s not invited?”
“Well, no, we had discussed it beforehand and she thought it would be a good idea for us to have some time to bond. As brothers. I’ll miss her of course, but-”
Stan cut his twin off. “No buts! She waited thirty year for you. I say we bring her.”
Ford laughs. “I’m happy to hear you say that. As long as she wants to be stuck in a small boat with two old men I’d be happy to bring her.”
“You do realise she is as old as us right?” Stan calls her over to where the two are talking.
Ford wraps his arm around her waist and she smiles. “Did you tell him your plan?” She beams up at him.
“I did, however,” Ford frowns, and she frowns too. She looks to Stanley for explanation.
“You must be out of your mind if you think you’re not coming with us.” Stan smirks.
“But I thought…” She looks up at Ford.
“It was Stanley’s idea, and it’s fine by me. Actually more than fine by me, lovely even.” Ford leans down to give her a kiss.
“We’re family, so I think it’d be stupid to make you wait here alone for the both of us. So you coming or what?” Stan’s smile is wide and genuine.
She lets go of Ford to pull Stan into a crushing hug. “Thank you, Stan.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Stan rolls his eyes.
Her hand reaches back towards Ford. “Get over here, I need to hug you both.” Ford chuckles but compiles.
Stan surprises everyone by announcing the closure of the Mystery Shack before giving Soos permission to run it.
She keeps close to Ford’s side as they wait for the bus to take the kids back home. Mabel grabs her hand and pulls her down to her level. “You’re the best Graunt in the whole world.”
She hugs Mabel tight and closes her eyes to stop the tears from spilling from her eyes. “You’re the best great niece and match maker in the world. Thank you for getting Ford back for me.”
Stan and Ford threaten the bus driver to let Waddles on. They all wave goodbye and run after the bus, cheering farewells.
Ford holds her close with one arm while the other wraps reassuringly around his brother. “They’ll be back next summer. Until then, let’s have an adventure.”

Gravity Falls - “Waiting”
Pop-Pop AU
Stan sits in a hospital waiting room, thinking about his life and the people he loves.

This is kinda old, but I realized I never posted it on tumblr. Hope ya like it!
Lots of fluff, the only ships are Soos and Melody.

It had a square aspect ratio. Ink pen and watercolor on white heat pressed cotton paper in a bland white frame. One single blue flower in a red vase with what looks like a yellowish shadow. One shadow going left, the other going right. The lack of confidence and inexperience was obvious, the lines were unfocused and jagged, the color plainly filled the shapes and gave no other visual interest to the image.
Below the frame was a small white card that read “Painting donated by Jessica Blaise from Gravity Falls Elementary School”
Stan scanned the painting at least 20 times while sitting in that chair. The too rough and too soft at the same time chair that had similar copies populating the almost white room he sat in. The wallpaper bouncing off light pinks and blues with tiny ducklings as a makeshift wainscoting was starting to irritate the old man. It was too bright, and the consistent buzz of the fluorescent lights seemed so loud. Stan adjusted himself in his chair, switching his crossed legs to a wider spread and leaned his head against the wall.
The only other stimulus in the room were a few posters promoting proper hand washing techniques, the play area with a small table and chairs with large blocks, crayons and that weird “game” with the metal wiring and wooden beads that’s in every waiting room Stan’s ever sat in. He played with the toys to give himself something to do after he read all the magazines. The novelty wore off fast.
The television mounted on the wall was airing some cooking channel with no sound and no subtitles. Looking at food when you haven’t eaten in a few hours was practically torture, so Stan had been averting his eyes.
There were other paintings on the wall, one was less of a painting, but instead a print of a painting. He doubted that the artist got any compensation from it, if they were still alive. The other was a charcoal drawing done by a student from the community college a town away. Another square, but the entire image was black, the brightest thing on the page was an intruding infant hand coming from the left with the arm fading into the dark background. The fingers seemingly mid-twitch and grabbing at something. The lighting was dynamic and interesting. Stan swore it was a drawing of a penis the first time he glanced at it, which resulted in his brother’s laughter. Stanley smiled at the memory, it was only a few hours ago, but he relishes any time he can make Stanford laugh.
Stan’s eyes darted at the door in the far corner when it opened suddenly. He eased back into his chair when the nurse crossed the room to talk with the receptionist. He couldn’t hear the conversation very well, but could tell they were just gossiping and making jokes. Nothing that was of his interest. So he looked back to the elementary school child’s painting and analyzed it again. His eyes were dry and he was tired. He wished he could sleep, the chair wasn’t comfortable enough and when he did managed to sleep, his neck was sore when he woke up. He was only lucky Ford let him use his shoulder as a pillow for a while. He looked to his left and noted the book his brother placed in the seat. It seemed thick and in what looked like Hebrew. Stan wasn’t very surprised Ford was fluent in the language they were acquainted with as children. Their grandparents on their father’s side were the last to be fully fluent in Hebrew. It was like his brother to be curious of their heritage, but Stan only remembered a few phrases and words he learned from holidays and special event when he had to recite anything in Temple.
Stan crossed his arms and glanced at the clock on the wall and let out an exasperated sigh. It had only been 10 minutes since he last checked the time. He wanted to be at home, be in his soft warm bed and getting ready to eat pancakes at this time in the morning.
He and Ford were on the porch of The Mystery Shack when Soos rushed them off to the hospital the yesterday afternoon. What he originally thought would be a couple of hours of waiting turned into almost twelve. Apparently labour can last a long time.
Stan wished he could be a witness for Soos and Melody like he was when Dipper and Mabel were born, but Melody wanted her privacy, which Stan could respect, but Soos wanted him there…..so he and Ford waited in this bright, annoyingly pastel waiting room, twiddling his thumbs awaiting the arrival of the new member of the mystery family. He was glad he was in at least comfortable clothes, some gray sweatpants and a sweater Mabel knitted for him that read “godfather”.
He was never clear on what the title entailed, but it was mentioned a few times by Soos’ grandmother and the kids insisted that Soos was intending to ask him. He hadn’t, but he didn’t protest Stan wearing the sweater. Whatever job godfathers had, he was willing to play the part if Soos were to ask him.
Stan looked at the double doors a few feet away that lead out of the waiting room and into the halls. His brother left to find something for them to eat, but was taking his sweet time. The turkey being basted on the television was no help in aiding his growling stomach.
He distracted himself by returning his thoughts to Soos and Melody. Just down the hall they were experiencing the strange and beautiful phenomenon that was witnessing the arrival of a brand new person. Stan remembered the feeling so clearly. His entire life he’s felt the presence of human beings. It’s inherent in most people to feel when someone is in the room with you, the other soul sharing the same space as you. Imagine being in a room with a set amount of people and someone else comes in, but imagine they came in without using a doorway. Just appearing seemingly out of thin air. Suddenly another person is with you, and they’re brand new to the world, a life full of potential and power. Yes, today is indeed a happy day, but no amount of positive thinking would ease Stan’s nerves. His foot began to bounce and his hands unconsciously began to fiddle with each other. He didn’t want to think anything would go wrong with Soos’ baby, but anything can happen and life is so fragile, especially at the start of it.
He recalled his nephew’s nervousness the day Dipper and Mabel were born. His hands were shaking and he was constantly checking on his wife and asking the doctors loads of questions. He didn’t fully understand the twins’ father’s behavior until the end of that day.
Mabel’s birth was swift and easy. Her mother only needed to push one and a half times before she was here. It was as if she was eager to meet everyone waiting for her. She cried like most babies do, but Stan could’ve sworn they were tears of joy. While Mabel was greeted with, “hello, beautiful”, “hi, sweetie” and “she’s perfect”, Her brother’s introduction to world started with, “what’s wrong?”, “wait, let me hold him”, and “he’s not moving”. Dipper was rushed out of the room before his mother got a chance to look at him. Stan managed to catch a glimpse of the horrifyingly blue tint on his great nephew’s tiny face. The memory still gave him chills. He remembered how much he wanted to hold Mabel, who began to fuss and cry, obviously missing her brother. He was terrified at the prospect of another incomplete set of twins in their family. After the longest 30 minute of his life, Stan’s great-nephew returned with a bright pink face, wailing with all the power his little lungs could produce. Once the twins were reunited in their mother’s arms, they settled down almost instantly. The doctors told their parents Dipper was significantly lighter in weight than his sister, but both were very strong and healthy. Every so often Stan thinks about Dipper and how much he has impacted his life. His thoughts lead to darker places and he questions if Ford would be here if Dipper wasn’t there to find the third journal. He shook his head as a cold shiver went up his spine.
Stan did his best to distract himself from revisiting the scare that Dipper caused him 16 years ago.
16 years…..17 in August
Stan blinked. The squishy, bright faces that stayed with him that first summer had changed significantly. They stayed in contact all year round and visited every summer since they were 12. But every in-person meeting was always a shock. Dipper was developing the square jaw Stan, both his brothers and nephew shared. He started to regularly wear glasses their second summer with the Stans. Poor kid will grow up looking like Filbrick like the rest of the Pines men. He reminded Stan of Ford at that age.
And Mabel…..
Stan will never get over how much she looks like his mother. It didn’t strike him until Soos and Melody’s wedding and she put her hair in a bun. She’s calmed her hyperactivity down a bit, but not by a lot, she still brightens his day with her wit and creativity. They’ve both matured physically, but not much has changed personality wise and they still acted like big children when they’re around each other. Stan loved them very much, and wished he could see them more often. He wondered what the future held for all of them. Would they still visit town after going to college? Would they move here? Or somewhere else?
He’s had several conversations with them to see how they’re managing the prospect of separating. They’re much better at communicating than he and Ford were and they seem actually excited to have some independence. It made Stan nervous, but he was sure their close relationship wouldn’t suffer.
Wendy chose to be elsewhere for the next few years. She and her friends booked a plane ticket and plan to backpack and hitchhike around Europe and the UK. Stan hopes they stay safe and watch out for each other. Lotta weirdos in Amsterdam. She was set to leave in the coming days, Wendy wanted to wait until today arrived so she could meet Soos and Melody’s kid before going away for who knows how long.
A tap on the shoulder woke Stan from his deep thoughts. His brother arrived with some warm sub sandwiches and coffee.
“Any word yet?, he asked Stan
“Nothin’ yet”, Stan felt helpless not having any clue how Soos and Melody were doing.
Stanford took his seat next to Stanley and they both silently enjoyed their late breakfast. Since arriving they’ve witnessed families reuniting and going past the door in the far corner to meet their children, grandchildren or siblings. Stan looked at the clock again. How has it only been another 5 minutes? He sighed, leaned back and finished the rest of his sub. One hand holding the sandwich, the other went back to gripping the arm rest, then a six fingered hand went down to rest on top of it. Stan let go of the armrest and tangled his fingers between Ford’s and held onto it with a, hopefully not too tight, grip. It was like an anchor to reality, much better at easing his anxieties than any words could. Over the past 4 years, Stan and Ford’s bond grew stronger. Stan still feared one day he would wake up and find himself still in that basement surrounded by broken machinery and languages he didn’t understand. He hasn’t yet, and was enjoying the time he had left with his twin. Stan took a moment to look at his brother again, Ford made eye contact and smiled then continued to read his book. Hands still intertwined
Stans thoughts went back to Soos…
It amazed Stan how much he had grown and it still baffled him that Soos idolized him as much as he does. Before Soos, Stan had no one. His brother was….gone, the rest of the family didn’t talk to him much outside of the holidays and special occasion. There hadn’t been any sense of consistency in Stan’s life for years, decades even, until he hired the chubby little kid he barely glanced at one random Saturday. Soos always arrived to work early, sometimes with breakfast for both of them. Stan didn’t know how much he needed a reliable companion until he had it and he enjoyed the 10 years he had with that kid… or man he should say. Here he was…a few rooms away, becoming a father.
Stan used to daydream a lot about the prospect of having kids when he was younger. He’s was always good with them when he had the chance to babysit his nephew, then later Dipper and Mabel when they were toddlers. He loved having kids in his house that first summer. He loved the energy and the sense of adventure the twins brought. They gave him a sense of purpose and belonging he hadn’t felt in years. He wished he was brave enough to have his own children. Not that he was ever with anyone long enough to want to have kids with him. He supposed it was for the best that he didn’t subject a child to homelessness or an unhappy marriage. He was also terrified at the idea. His dad used to say having kids ruined his life. He wondered who his father was before his older brother was born. Did they really ruin his life? Stan often wondered if he would be like his own dad if he has children of his own. Would he change and become that annoyed parent that resenting his children?
He thought about Soos again
That was probably the closest to parenthood he ever experienced. The first time he felt like one was when Soos asked him for homework help after closing. He initially told Soos no, he wasn’t exactly smart and didn’t think he would be any help. It apparently upset the kid, so Stan sighed and gave it a try. It was fairly simple middle school math, he didn’t remember everything, but helped Soos do more than half of it. Soos thanked him and went home happy. Stan felt weirdly proud, he was glad he made a small difference and managed to teach Soos something he didn’t even know he knew.
The second time was when Soos was a teenager. His grandmother wasn’t able to teach Soos to drive, since she had forgotten how and her late husband used to do the driving, she mostly walked everywhere. Soos offered to work for free so Stan could teach him. Stan loved driving and found teaching Soos cathartic. He was a fast and eager learner, he only bumped Stan’s car once while trying to figure out parallel parking. Little did Soos know that he was getting paid for his normal work hours. Stan just put it away long enough to help buy the kid some old used truck in the junkyard for getting his license. They fixed the truck up and in only a few weeks it was ready to be on the road. Soos has taken good care of it and it’s still his ride to this day
Stan was very proud of Soos. He taught the kid some basic self defense and managed to be a decent influence in his life. Soos at least has his priorities straight.
Stan was even glad to see that Soos was willing to question him. When the portal was reaching the final countdown, he didn’t hesitate to protect the kids from him when he thought Stan was dangerous. He didn’t know, none of them did, so he didn’t blame Soos for distrusting him. He hoped he never had to betray him again. They both had crappy dads, and Stan knew how Soos saw him. Stan was never really sure if he reciprocated those feelings. It felt natural to act the part, but to put a label as important as “dad” on Stan was daunting. Soos definitely deserves better than what he was given, Stan wasn’t sure if he was it.
Stan looked up at the familiar voices running towards him from the double doors.
“Grunkle Stan! Grunkle Ford!” Mabel waved to them
The two teenagers and Wendy walked in holding a balloon and various toys. They took some seats across from the Stans and asked how everyone was doing and if the baby arrived yet.
“Not yet, hopefully soon” Ford answered
Stan relaxed and silently enjoyed his family’s company. He laid his head back and leaned slightly on Ford to rest for a minute. His eyes shut as he listened to the kids joke around and talk amongst themselves. He squeezed Ford’s hand one more time before drifting off.
He knew he should’ve tried sleeping earlier, he wasn’t out for more than 15 minutes when Soos came into the waiting room. Stan’s eyes shot open and he was on his feet faster than he did when he was being chased by angry costumers as a door to door salesman. Soos’ red eyes sagged and he seemed exhausted, but carried a proud, wide smile across his face. He sniffed and wiped his eyes.
“It’s a boy”, he squeaked, “mom and baby are okay”
Dipper and Mabel were first to start the hugs, and the room filled with cheers of congratulations and love. Stan felt light as a feather giving Soos a hug and joking about child labor.
“Can we see him?”, Mabel bounced with anticipation
“Yeah, dudes!”, Soos gestured everyone past the corner door and into the suite. “But only for a little while, Melody has to sleep”
The room was small, dimly lit and warm. The Pines crew collectively lowered their voices as Melody came into view on the bedding holding a bundle of blankets decorated with small yellow ducklings. She was leaned back on a large pillow, covered in blankets and toted a soft smile on her face. Soos stroked her hair and picked up his little son to show to the Pines’. The younger twins got a look at him first,
Mabel squealed and cooed at the tiny infant. Then Wendy, who said hi to the baby and told Soos she’d make sure to send him gifts while she was away
“What’s his name?”, Mabel asked Melody
“I named him after my dad”, Melody replied, “Jacob”. She smiled sadly at the memory of the father she lost the year before.
Soos approached the Stans, Ford smiled and complimented the couple on a having such beautiful little boy, but shot Soos a look, who silently replied with another one. Something was up.
Finally Stan got a look at baby Jacob. “Wow” Stan smiled, patting Soos’ arm. “He looks exactly like you”
Soos laughed, “really? I think he looks like Melody”, there was a short silence before Soos spoke up again.
“Do you want to hold him, Mr Pines?”
Stan looked at Soos and smiled, “heh, sure”. He held his arms out. Soos lowered his arms to pass the baby to Stan, who scrunched his face up and started to fuss. Stan took the infant and managed to hold him with one arm. He bounced and shushed little Jacob until he calmed down. “Heya kid”, He’s held babies dozens of times, but something felt different about this one. He couldn’t put his finger on it, but Stan felt an almost magnetic pull towards him. Jacob settled comfortably against Stan and continued his rest. Stan softly beamed at the tiny person in his arms.
“Hey, Stan?”
Stan lifted an eyebrow and looked at Soos, who was fidgeting with his hands and nervously smiling.
“Uh..”, he paused, taking in the sight of Stan holding his child. “You know about my dad”, Soos looked at Ford again, who shrugged and nodded. Stan studied Ford’s face, who’s eyes strayed away as he hid a small smile. Soos got his attention again.
“You uh…he wasn’t…”, Soos choked up, his voice strained a bit, “I met you when I was probably the loneliest I ever was in my entire life”. Stan pictured the little boy he hired on the spot, he didn’t remember him until Soos showed up at his door step the next day ready to work. He didn’t know how much that quick, thoughtless decision would change his life.
Soos perked up and walked across the room to a table and picked up the piece of paper sitting on it. Soos glanced at it, then at Stan and smiled, gaining some emotional strength it seemed.
“You mean a lot me”, Soos, “you were there when I really needed it, you gave me a job, taught me just about everything I know. I don’t think I ever thanked you for that”
Stan got a bit nervous, Was this him asking to be the godfather?Everyone was silent and curiously watching. Soos held his hand out and handed the paper to Stan. He adjusted his arm to properly hold Jacob in his arm and took it. Stan flipped the page and noticed it was the baby’s birth certificate. Stan eyes bounced off the page and read the various information: birthdate, weight, parents, but he froze when he read the full name. Stan’s wide eyes questioningly studied Soos’ face.
“Are you…”, Stan felt his own throat tightening, crap. Come on, not in front of everyone “really?”, he asked. Soos gave a genuine nod and sniffed.
“I uh” Soos cleared his throat, “I was wondering, since Jacob doesn’t have one…if you wanted to be…. his grandpa?
There it was
Stan felt dizzy and took a small step back before remembering who was in his hands and regained his balance. Ford came to his side and wrapped an arm around his shoulder. Stan decide not to look at his brother and chose to stare forward, then his eyes went back to Soos, who look deflated. Oh man. Stan was terrified, he didn’t want to say no and hurt Soos, but if he said yes….he wasn’t sure what made him so nervous. The entire concept sounded so alien to him, like he didn’t deserve the title. He always considered Soos, Melody and their son a part of his family. But to bare a title like “grandpa”, had to mean he had children that that children. That he was already a parent without his knowledge. It all felt so natural to want to lean into this and become part of this family like Soos wanted.
He heard something make a noise from beneath himself. Stan looked down at little Jacob, who was mid yawn. The baby’s mouth grew wide opens and inhaled, scrunching up his face and suddenly shut. Suddenly two tiny eyes opened for just a few seconds, enough time for Stan to make eye contact before Jacob shut them and got comfortable again
Everything was different now.
Stan didn’t notice how quiet the room had gotten nor the tears forming in his eyes. Stunned by beauty and overcome with pride and a sense of purpose. The pride he felt teaching Soos math, how to drive and attending his graduation all combined just looking at the perfect being in his arms. If he said yes, he would want everything that came with it. Stan lifted the birth certificate up to read the name again.
Jacob Stanley Ramirez
“Y-Yes”, he heard a shaken voice say, almost not realizing it was his own “of course”. He looked at Soos, tears in his eyes and a bright smile on his face. He still wasn’t sure if he deserved this, but Stan wanted it. He wanted it all. Why not indulge just this once? He gave the certificate to Ford and used his now free hand to pull Soos into a hug. Gently sandwiching his…..grandson in between him……and his son.
