"Mano po."
Pagmamano (Tagalog) - "honouring-gesture;" a sign of respect towards elders
A continuation of sorts, of this other drawing I made of the Feänorians, which was roughly inspired by Filipino culture. I originally planned on completing this for @nolofinweanweek, specifically the first prompt about how Fingolfin and Feänor's families got along, but life got in the way and I didn't finish it in time. More background/my long rambles under the cut:
Pagmamano - touching the back of an elder's hand on one's forehead - is not restricted to family, but it's usually done in the context of elder family members. I have many memories of attending family reunions and being told to follow the other kids to "mano po" a grandfather, aunt, or uncle. While Elves don't have elderly relatives, per se, I thought this image was too fun not to draw. Also, I love envisioning Feänor as that cool uncle who gives the most amazing gifts but like, the kids are intimidated by him, so they have to be told (and supervised) by their parents to line up and greet him properly. Fingolfin's just standing there making sure his kids all greet their uncle. (Maedhros, presumably having already finished his greetings, is sidetracking Fingon.)
All this to say, I think that these guys didn't have the perfect relationship. But. You can't convince me Finwë didn't get the whole family together from time to time on some sort of family reunion camping trip. And Feänor just has to begrudgingly tolerate it because he can't say no to his dad. While the kids, obviously, have a great time.

the majority of snowpoint's population is mobian HOWEVER i like the idea of there being at least one human running around up there too. idw's 100% mobian (+ eggman) world has never really vibed with me, plus i think sonic's interactions with human characters can be really interesting. i particularly liked his friendship with helen in sonic x...
i'm thinking maybe there's like, 1 human family in snowpoint (essentially the token humans lol). and maybe THEY'RE the ones who take care of snowpoint's historical museum? like, you'd expect the typical animal people to be the ones who hold all the location-based lore, but no. the storytellers for the town are actually humans

You're gonna do what I tell you, you're my sidekick, follow my rules.
Don't speak unless you're spoken to, this whole room don't need to know you.
I fucking hate my grandpa. I hate my grandpa.
I hate my grandpa. I hate my grandpa.
It'd be better if you grew some balls, but not too much, where you act too tough.
Do more of this
But don't do that.
That's too much red.
Eating makes you fat.
I fucking hate my grandpa. I hate my grandpa.
I hate my grandpa. I hate my grandpa.
I hate my grandpa. I hate my grandpa.
I could replace you, but I don't!
You should say "Thank you!"
14-year-olds like you are too young to know abuse.
Why can't you just listen to me like a good sidekick would?
Oh! I hate my grandpa! I hate my grandpa! I hate my grandpa. Oh, I hate my grandpa, I hate my grandpa!
I hate my grandpa, I hate my grandpa. I hate my grandpa, I hate my grandpa,
I hate my grandpa, I hate my grandpa. I hate my grandpa, I hate my grandpa, I hate my grandpa, I hate my grandpa. I hate my grandpa,
I hate my motherfucking grandpa!
I hate my grandpa.

In the same vein as that post about swapping all of the men characters with all women in a fantasy world to make a point about the lack of women with agency in a story or game or what have you, I really do think you need to dispense with the idea that only really young people do things. I get that a lot of fantasy careers are supposed to be dangerous and that folks don't last long in those lines of work etc but can you really tell me that there isn't a single adventurer or pirate or sword for hire or whatever over the age 35? Why are the only people in their 50s and up blacksmiths and wizards and stuff. You know how people who are really experienced gained that experience? OVER TIME. Oh? You mastered your stealth and combat skills and have been a seasoned expert for years long enough to gain a reputation? And you're only 20? So, you started doing this stuff at like 15 or have you only been at it a year or two? Come on
