Don't mind me casually following the fellas who put this quality hanahaki content on my dash, absolutely thriving right now and thinking about if I made some art myself what it may be like. In the meanwhile simply lamenting the fact that I can't quite imagine Neon J himself struggling with something like this in the nsr era- at best, the potential of being familiar with it from before, but he strikes me as direct enough that he wouldn't let feelings linger long enough to develop.

I'm not too familiar with Neon J since I focus on 1010 waaaaay more lmfao, but whatever floats your boat!! the fun part about NSR being purposefully vague is that ppl can fill in with their own theories and headcanons!!

like, you could deffo characterize Neon J as someone aware of the disease, but too direct and straightforward to experience it himself in any meaningful way so it just goes under his radar most of the time (heh...........radar......heh). or just straight up forgetting about his experiences with hanahaki before becoming a cyborg and all, if you wanna include that one popular characterization of his memories being all fucked up / not knowing if he's a true person or had fake implanted memories

and he could still get hanahaki disease over feelings he's not aware he's repressing, similar to Eve - maybe it's harder for Neon J to notice that he's growing flowers due to his status as a cyborg? since he lacks a proper mouth, it's not as easy as coughing up a few petals. maybe he confuses the feeling of things growing inside with the feeling of phantom limbs, and he just keeps on unconsciously tackling his feelings properly before they can become a SERIOUS problem. maybe discovering that 1010 has been hiding their own hanahaki from him is the catalyst that makes him realize it could be happening to him, who knows!

or you could also think that he's been struggling with hanahaki and hiding it from everyone as well, which is so fucking hilariously ironic to me

there's also the subject of him being a war veteran and all, if you wanna get more in-depth about hanahaki within the universe instead of just individual characters? like, there's probably some fucked up training to ensure soldiers and shit don't choke up with hanahaki. I VAGUELY remember some concepts from very early fandom days about hanahaki being a thing you could REMOVE from your body, at the cost of never feeling anything ever again - a metaphor for becoming entirely numb and isolated from your own feelings etc, so yeah! go wild!!

i think!! arisugu met in high school!! that makes most sense to me :> i transferred into his class and got attached to him …. pretty quickly probably. LMAO. i can see suguru being the one who gets assigned to show me around bc satoru Cannot be trusted w new students and shoko is a delinquent in the making…. so sugu is probably the one i meet first :3 and then i subtly imprint on him. like a duckling. a little ari following him around bc he has a soft silky voice. and he gets a bit of a soft spot eventually (me and the bad bitch i pulled by being socially incompetent <33)

WITH THAT BEING SAID…….. i see arisugu as The slowburn ever. neither of us are the love at first sight type, so i think it’d take a year or two for us to actually Fall in Love…. a year of getting to know each other on a deeper and more vulnerable level (ON THAT NOTE. late-night talks under starry skies are extremely arisugu coded)… so the feelings are very deep but. even though they’re mutual i don’t think we’d get together until a couple years have passed 😭😭 sugu would get tired of the ”chase” eventually and confess in our last year of hs maybe…. but i am Not Ready to accept his feelings. or my own. and i tell him that.

and so … he waits :’3 (WILLINGLY MIGHT I ADD i just think he’s the type of guy to say ”i’ll wait for you.” and Mean it yk….) until i eventually make the final push in like. our early twenties maybe…. which would mean about five total years of pining?? ish??? i just see it as a very tender, very very slow romance!! kinda like wading into deep water when you’re afraid of it. but by the time we get together we already know and trust each other so deeply that the change isn’t really too abrupt….. though he insists on taking everything at our own pace anyway. sniffle. i adore him (ALSO needless to say i’m not following canon here 🤨🤨 i firmly believe sugu wouldn’t have defected if he had a baby duckling following him around ok)

Sal is really good with you

He's a really calming person to be around, so if you're really struggling that day, he's got you

If you're too hyperfocused and forget to take care of yourself, he will find a way to pull you away without bothering you. Even if it's just for a bit so you can eat or something

But if you have trouble focusing? Well, sals next to you and talking you through whatever you're trying to to.

He will even help you.

One day, you started frantically cleaning your room. Pulling stuff from the drawers pulling the stuff out from under your bed. Unloading your desk.

But then once you saw the amount of stuff, you kinda froze up. not sure where to even start.

You were honestly so overwhelmed you almost had a breakdown, but then sal walked into your guys' room, looking confused as shit asking you what's going on.

He waited patiently as you explained, and then he sat on the ground with you and started helping you organize everything,talking you through the process the entire time to keep you from getting more overwhelmed.

He's a damn angel

And once you guys got done and the room was back in order, you guys put on a movie and just passed out

If it's a day where you can't seem to sit still. He won't try to stop you.

Naw, he's saying ok come on, let's go to the apartments and run around checking on the ghost.

He doesn't try to hold you in place or stop you he tries to encourage you to do what you need to in a healthy way.

Also, if losing or misplacing things is a struggle for you, that's fine, don't worry.

Cause either he knows where it is or he's looking for it with you. And sometimes, when he sees something in an odd place, he will just grab it and put it where it should be.

And then when you need it, you don't have to go on a scavenger hunt.

On days where you can't seem to drag yourself outta bed or you're just not doing good with racing thoughts

He's with you. If you both have class that day, he will coax you out of bed,

and while you guys are driving there you guys will talk about it, and if you can't put it into words, he will just tell you stuff to get your mind off it

If you don't have class, he will lay with you, and you guys will just put on a show and chat, which makes you feel a bit better

He's like your other half at this point, and it's nice to have some calm when things get crazy

Overall, you both have a pretty good system, and if he's having issues, you help him out too, so it's a pretty win-win you

guys are great together

Larry:

Well, now Larry, I think, has a bit of it to but a little different. He's more on the hyper focus end.

He will get to painting or playing a game, and he's not moving from that spot until it's done, and if you are also hyper focused at the same time it can start off good but then can get a bit unhealthy

It's whoever comes out of it first that will snap the other out of it

But if you're having trouble focusing, he will do his best to help, but let's be honest, you both will probably end up distracted

One day, you were trying to work on a project for one of your classes and you were stuck because you had so much to do and didn't know where to start.

So you tried to put on some music. We'll that didn't work too well because now you're sitting there watching MTV music videos.

By the time Larry got back, you were spaced out at the screen with your project forgotten sitting next to you.

He asked you what it was, and when you told him, he asked if it was done and you ended up explaining that you got stuck.

Well, he sits down with you and takes a look at it and also kinda blanks. Then you guys started talking, and the conversation ventured off, and yall ended up rushing it the night before.

At least he tried lmao.

Now, if it's a hyper day for you guys and you're running around trying to do a bunch of stuff, he will probably roll a joint and give it to you like.

After you do, it can have one of two reactions

1 you actually slow down and are able to chill for a bit, or 2 it just makes you wanna go on an adventure.

If it's the second you guys end up in a gas station getting snacks and then heading over to sals to bother him and his girl it's cool they don't mind lol.

Now, when it comes to misplaced objects it really fucks with larry. Like I said in my general Larry HCs, he's messy but in an organized way.

So if he's digging around trying to find a certain paintbrush and he ends up finding it in the living room instead of in his art area he it really fucks with him.

But he's not mad he's just more confused and like what the fuck I didn't put that there.

And if he asks you and you don't remember, then you guys jokingly blame the ghosts. You both know it probably wasn't them but it's a Lil inside joke.

Now, for days, you can't get up, he stays with you. He's either in the same boat or he just feels bad and understands. Sometimes, he will lay with you, and you both might smoke and talk to each other. Or he will put on a show or music and paint while you do you.

It's just nice to know he's there and that he cares.

Overall, you guys got a lot going on, but you guys manage it as well as you can and what's important is that you do it together 🖤

One day in base, it was just all the bots, including Raf and Miko. Bulk, Bee, Smokescreen, and Wheeljack were just playing some basketball (I forgot what they called it so I’m just gonna call it basketball-) with a ball of scrapped metal while Arcee, Raf, and Miko watched. Ratchet, our sunshine, was just doing some random stuff. Optimus and Ultra Magnus were just doing important stuff.

Just then, everyone was surprised by June and Jack. “Hey everyone!” June called out, smiling and waving. Jack would’ve done the same, buttttttt….something, more like someone, was in his hands. “Hey guys.” Jack said with a flat tone.

“WOAH. IS THAT A BABY??” Miko yelled, running over to Jack and BEGGING to hold it. “GIVE ME GIVE MEEEE!!” Jacks eyes widened and he quickly turned the baby away from Miko, “woah woah woah, calm down Miko!..” Raf then walked towards them, “where’d you get it, Jack?” He asked, “First off, he’s a he. Second, [story where they got the baby bc I’m too lazy to think abt where they could’ve got it</3]” The bots then started to walk towards the humans and the first that spoke was Smokescreen, “is that a human sparkling?? Gosh, they’re so small!!” “Of course they are, it’s a human!” Ratchet said with a slightly sarcastic tone.

“What’s his name??” Miko asked. “His names Ryan.” Jack answered. “Ryan huh? Kinda sounds like Orion..!” Bulkhead said, making everyone stare at Optimus. “I have no similarities with this human sparkling” said Optimus.

a couple hours goes by, and Jack was still caring for Ryan. Eventually he got hungry, so Jack went off and gently sat him on the couch and said he’d go get him something to eat/drink. As Ryan waited on the couch he was curious about his surroundings, I mean, there’s a ton of alien robots around him!! Who wouldn’t be curious? So, he started to babble loud, loud enough for some bots to hear. The first ones to hear was the boys playing basketball.

All four of them surrounded Ryan and looked down at him confusingly, “uh.” Started Bulkhead, “What do you think he wants?..” “not sure.” Wheeljack answered back. “What if he wants to play basketball with us??” Smokescreen suggested, taking the metal scrapped ball over Ryan’s head like he was gonna drop it on him. “BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEPPPDJXJSJSJ” (SMOKESCREEN PLS DONT. AHHHHHH) Bee screamed, slapping the ball out of smokescreens hand. “Hey! What gives??” Smokescreen said. “I don’t think you’re supposed to offline the thing.” Wheeljack said, blinking at smokescreen. “oh. We’re not?..” said smokescreen. Arcee was just watching the whole thing disappointed 🤦🏻‍♀️

Next, Ryan got ratchets attention. “You human sparklings are quite…squishy looking..” Ratchet said as he looked closely at Ryan. “What if I just…” he then gently used one digit and squish Ryan’s stomach, making the little baby giggle🥹 Ratchets optics shimmered, “oh primus..” he’s now in full mother hen mode. He is going to care for little Ryan forever now. 😭

Last, he got Optimus and Ultra Magnus’s attention. Ultra magnus was reciting some boring ass rules to Ryan as Optimus just watched dumbfounded. “Do you understand, soldier.” Ultra magnus said. “Ultra Magnus..I don’t think the sparkling can understand you..” Optimus said.

After those words, you were quick to touch ground again thanks to the one lifting you up and smiled big once your best friend was at your sight. “How was it?”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You could work on your posture, you look hunched.” the captain said in a fun tone, you knew it was a joke when a tiny smile started to form in her lips. Your hand hit her softly in the shoulder.

Kuvira and you had been best friends since you can remember, maybe it was around the time Su took her under her wing when you met Kuvira. You remember how a little earthbender walked over to you asking if you wanted to share moon peaches with her after she caught you looking at her and ever since that day you both have been inseparable.

She helped you to improve in your metalbending making you one of the best engineers in the city alongside Suyin's oldest son, when someone was bothering you she was the first to jump to defend you, when you had a bad day she always found a way to comfort you and make you feel better. She was your rock, the same way you were hers.

Everyone in Zaofu knew how close you two were and the appreciation one had for the other, but not a single soul knew how there was something more than friendship between you two. It was so secret that not even you both knew.

Both have had relationships before, even if they didn't last enough, you were certain to recognize the feelings between friends and lovers' affection. Or so you thought.

Your own feelings were questioned one of the days the avatar and her team arrived to the city, you were helping them with anything asked for as one of their hostess.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'm an engineer too!” the other girl exclaimed excited to meet a fellow engineer, thankfully that changed the subject to machinery and inventions with her and made you forget the moment before.

Even though you were a junior engineer, that didn't stopped you to talk for almost an hour with the girl about the struggles as an engineer and shared advices one with the other.

When you talked to Kuvira about your nerdy rant with Asami, her face had an indescribable grimace painted in it.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “So you like her.” she said abruptly, cutting your train of thought and making you blink in confusion.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I mean, yeah?” you said more in a question than in an answer. “It's nice to have a chat with someone about this stuff other than Baatar Jr who loves to cut me off or not pay any attention.” you shrugged.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “And she's pretty too.” Kuvira voice felt as she was thinking of something else, her focus somewhere else.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “She is.” you backed up the statement. “But what does that has to do wi–.”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I have to go, I need to take care of some business. See you at dinner.” she spoke as if being rushed and started to walk away from you, leaving you even more confused.

In Kuvira's mind, there were alerts and sirens left and right, warning her about something, something she had repressed too deep to understand it now.

The events following your talk gave no one time to think, it was one thing after the other and that kept Kuvira away from you since she was the captain for the military guard so it made you grew closer to the young inventor and she was aware of it.

After the avatar left, Kuvira seemed distance with you. Only talking when you looked for her, she still walked you home, but the talks were ephemeral, she answered with monosyllables or head movements and you only could hope to find a way to get your relationship back to how it was.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I'm leaving,” she said one day, interrupting your commentary about how the practice was boring. You stopped in your steps, Kuvira stopped a couple after. “The Earth Kingdom is in need of a leader and I offered myself to Republic City's president to help get the Kingdom united until the new monarch takes their place.”

Your eyes were trying to look for hers, she was evading your gaze by keeping hers pinned behind you.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “What–”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I leave tomorrow.” every single word felt like a bucket of freezing water pouring over you. “Bataar is going with me, I need an engineer.”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You tell me now?” the question left your mouth as a whisper. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier? Didn't you think I would like to know your plan? Or I would like to go as your engineer? You don't trust me anymore?” for the first time, she looked at you while calling your name, you shook your head. “Kuvira, I'm your best friend... I would go with you anywhere.”

A couple of seconds you both stood in silence looking at each other. “I'm sorry.” was the only thing she could think of saying to you.

Your hand rearranged the gym bag's strap over your shoulder. “I'll walk myself home, hope you have a great journey.”

You walked pass her and Kuvira fought against herself not to run after you, to tell you that she was sorry, she wanted you there with her... But her pride was stronger, she stood there.

That was the last time you two had a proper conversation, you didn’t attend to her farewell event nor talked to her before that. However, after two days of her being on the road, a letter with your handwriting arrived to her wishing her luck and health in her journey. But that was all, no more letters neither from you or her, you two took separate ways after that. Regardless of the years passing by, you couldn’t help but find yourself thinking about Kuvira every once in a while.

With Bataar gone from Zaofu, you moved from engineer junior to senior and with that more responsibility came along, enough to keep your mind occupied.

Suyin grew closer to you as you usually tagged along with her husband to talk work related things and city matters. She knew about how close you and Kuvira were, so every information she had she told you.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I heard they just went to Qinchao.” the matriarch said while serving tea on your cup, you smiled a little bit her way.

Deep down, you were grateful with her for that, those comments were enough for you to make sure that at least Kuvira was still around. But one day she stopped talking about the metalbender and you didn’t want to appear desperate to know about her, so you didn’t ask anything.

You thought she was on her way to pass the now united Earth Kingdom to Wu, but were met with the news that she planned to invade Zaofu.

You helped with what you could to stop her, however when the Beifongs were captured, you got captured too. Instead of going to the same air-suspended prison, someone took you to Kuvira's train and made you sit in –what you thought was– the reunion wagon. A map of the kingdom displayed infront of you and a table with a bunch of blueprints on its right, sitting impatiently you were waiting for something... or someone.

The sound of the metal doors opening behind you made you sit straight again, one pair of shoes were making noises so you thought it was the last guard. Your mouth opened to talk and ask what you were doing there instead of being with the Beifongs, but your words caught up in your throat at the sight of the ex–captain.

Her eyes shined with distress, unsure of what to say or how to proceed, almost like waiting for a signal from you to tell her what to do. You only looked at her with a gaze she could not interpret, silence reigned for what felt hours while the two green-eyed were looking at each other.

At the same time, the two of you decided to break the silence colliding your voices. Kuvira blinked a bit and shook her head. “Sorry, you talk first.”

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Can you uncuff me?” you asked quickly at her making sounds with the platinum around your wrists.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Shit, yes, one second.” Kuvira was fast to take out the key while walking behind you to take the cuffs out so you could be more comfortable. “There, uhm, you're free.”

Your left hand was quick to touch your right wrist once you were able to get your arms to the front, you looked for Kuvira. “Why am I here?”

The leader stood up again and walked to be face to face with you again, she still couldn't read your expression. “I wanted to talk to you.”

Your heart skipped a beat and Kuvira was able to see how your eyes softened a little bit, she was able to see that one girl a couple years younger that could make her world shake with her mere existence.

It took Kuvira three years away from you to know that she did love you like she had said a lot of times, but she loved you on another level which she never thought could've happen.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “To say... What? To boast about how you were capable to unify the kingdom on your own with... tyranny?” you words were harsh on her, she knew she deserved them either way.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I did what I had to for my people.” she said back, almost in a sharp serious tone. “And I know you won't understand this now, but I did it for them... I did it for us.”

You stayed quiet, just looking at her, admiring her face like you used to do back in the day. “You never wrote to me.” your mouth talked in a low voice. “I was surviving with what Su told me about you and it wasn’t nearly enough.”

Kuvira's shoulders fell, her whole serious leader facade disappeared. You were the only person with the ability of making the ex–captain soft at your very liking.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I didn't know what to say.” she said, raising her brow with tenderness. “I tried so many times to write you, tell you that I missed you, ask you if you wanted to join, but I never found the right words to do so.” Her gaze looked to the floor. “I needed you by my side.”

You felt dizzy, but in a good way. It was almost as if those feelings repressed by you all those years ago were creeping back in a plodding way.

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “If you had asked me two weeks ago if I wanted to join you on unifying the kingdom I would've joined.” you said after another round of silence, the lighter green eyes shot back to you in surprised. “Hell! If you had asked me yesterday if I wanted to join I would've say yes, Kuvira... Because I need you too.”

I didnt know u were going to write a full on post on my Baxter request, I'm so touched by the sweet fluff and step 3 & 4 scenarios 😭 I read that Baxter post 5 times it is so good! Im happy that u can relate to my MC, I have so many thots on how I would change certain scenes to fit my MC's journey. (I hope u dont mind me sharing ☺️ I get so happy thinking about it)

Nervous, step 3 crush mode:

The confession scene where Baxter admits he wants to date MC, she is over the moon and flabbergasted he would confess after knowing him for a week--but the mentioning of flings again throws her off and she tells him she doesn't take things like relationships lightly. He apologises and rephrases the question of them dating. My MC, who is usually the one who encourages Cove to do daring and new things and take initiative, doesn't always take her own advice. Surprisingly, she finds herself taking small steps to become closer to this elusive boy she has crushed on in step 2 (he was so ADORABLE in step 2!), realizing that Baxter always gives her the choice to choose what happens next, regardless of what he wants to happen next (all the kisses, hugs, u name it!). It takes a good deal of willpower for my MC to not lose her nerve, but Baxter's warm presence makes her feel safe and strengthens her resolve--but in small steps.

Back to the confession, MC always wants to hold his hand to ground herself before doing something bold and does this before questioning him on certain things like him not going to ask other locals out on flings or asking if he's sure about dating her, quirks and all. After she agreed and he tried to say bid her a good night, MC looked at him, surprised. She was certain he would ask for a kiss, like in the movies. She takes his hand again and smiles softly as she gives him an eskimo kiss, gently pressing her nose to his nose and beaming up at him from that position, willing him to kiss her in their close proximity. How could Baxter say no after that? (Omg so cute, im blushing 🥰🥰🥰)

and back to the kissing!!! i imagine you forget to kiss baxter after an outing, and before you go into the house baxters stops you and kisses your cheek himself. he quickly runs away into his condo, leaving you flustered on your ownsteps.

Do you celebrate it? Sometimes gratitude or giving thanks to things may come off as a big and somewhat unpleasant word. It may feel as if you are forced to acknowledge something that you already love, and that kills all the joy in this type of self-care, isn’t it?

re: the ed stuff, i tend to bring a “hm getting a lot of ed vibes from this” mindset to a lot of media 😭 (and we live in a disordered culture! most media with something to say about the world has something to say about food and bodies) but its ofc become clear over time that its incredibly intentional in succ! which is a win for me but also. a devastating loss emotionally. and it adds a ton of depth and dimension to its stance on wealth, gender, trauma, personal identity and family dynamics. im glad to hear that the way i write it hits the mark for you <3 (truly my biggest flex is that i was an ed!roman truther from before the esquire interview. i saw the dog pound scene and went “hm. rexie vibes.” and never looked back.)

Haha sorry it took me a bit to answer this. I really do love seokmin a whole lot, he also caught me by surprise when I slipped into the diamond life! Like, no one believes me but he was like my 5th bias lmao 🤣 but yes, he has become so precious to me so some of my fav things?

His personality

I'm not throwing shade on my other biases or any idols when I say this but I just find him really full dimensional? I know I make fun of his long posts (and how he never replies to me on weverse 🙄) but it's smth that's so cute abt him? I enjoy every lil paragraph and post abt the weather or his food sm. And like he's super sweet right, voted to be the sunbae everyone wants but he's also the same member that gets in so many fights 😂 and he has this really cute silent treatment when he's upset and stuff, I just find him super authentic. His laugh is so loud and infectious. He's a lil stupid and goofy but so sweet and I know there's the whole debate on industry personality but I don't think that's so much the case with him

His talent

I like to kick myself all the time bc I've always been a 97 simp lbr and it took me so long to notice him but now I see him everywhere in old videos 😭😭😭 and he's so recognizable???? Or is that just my obsession showing now? But yeah! I think his vocals are so outstanding amid his generation and my fav thing abt svt is even though they have so many members AND a large vocal unit, they never overshadow anyone? Idk but it jsut seems like in other groups, it's v distinct abt who's THE vocalist (again no shade) but in svt they always harmonize really well and while seokmin's been an amazing vocalist since day 1, I think his musical really heightened his talents and his confidence and I love to see and hear it! Now I just need woozi God to let him flex his ranges more :( I miss his lower octaves.

Everyone knows I'd be lying if I didn't mention this 😔 I think he's just so handsome? I think his features are so striking and he's just sooo good looking I will cry!
