there are poets on this website who will never have their writing published, who will never share their words with anyone outside of the void they type into but I hope all of them know that I’ve been more moved by one-sentence-long posts written here by a stranger I’ll never know the real name of than scores of published authors.

HELLO, MINNEAPOLIS!
Oh my blog, bean buns. I just had THEEEEE wildest dream.
Absolutely PACKED concert stadium. Beautiful night. Fans in a mood of adoration.
RADITZ. Glorious. So much hair. Front and center, singing with his whole entire goddamn chest, I can't even describe the genre, but Big-Big Kitty Man Boyfie apparently has a voice that's like Josh Groban and Meat Loaf just Raditzissimo-ed together, and everyone went BA-NANNER-ZZZZZ. Of course.
And then he got this look of absolute feline delight and counted off a zesty, "ONE-TWO-TRUNKS-NAPPA!!!" so they could start jamming. The fuck. OOOUUUUUTTT.
Raditz on lead guitar and vocals, Kid Trunks slamming on bass, Nappa absolutely ANNIHILATING everyone on drums. I think Chi-Chi showed up on keyboards at some point. And then the genre was "Journey x Meat Loaf," because "Saiyans x Meat Loaf" seems to be a headcanon sticking point for me. It just makes cultural sense.
Also, during intermission, Goku came out and sat on the Flying Nimbus and played some chill bamboo flute jams for everybody. I guess so they could catch their breath and reorganize their minds before getting ANNIHILATED with the absolute VIGOR of the second half.
And in the "lead man lies on stage and talks to the audience for a minute" part that you get from Green Day, Raditz went full panther and looked out at the crowd and purred, "Hey, babes... Guess what? ...You're... still...
Here."
in the most adoringly threatening way. Like, a tone of, "I really want to bite you, and YES, it is sexual. But also romantic." Because it was like... referring to the fact that both he and Nappa (and by extension Vegeta) had totally come to Earth with EXTREMELY ill intentions for all the folks in front of them tonight. But something beautiful had happened that transformed all three of them, and now there's a bond of... THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE. This beautiful moment between the two Saiyans up here and the THOUSANDS of you out there in front of us, celebrating how much we love each other. We love you as much or more than you love us, humans. Humanity. Earthlings. Earth. We love you. I want to bite you, and it's both sexual and romantic. I love you so much. Chomp-chomp.
NOW LET'S ROCK!!!
And they tore the fucking house down.
And then Raditz was like, "Aw-RIIIIIIGHTTT!!! GOOD NIGHT, MINNEAPOLIS!!!"
And this morning I woke up like, "...goddamn."

i just had. THE MOST WHOLESOME INTERACTION at my therapist’s office
so there’s this young girl, probably like 9 ish. i compliment her earrings (they are huge, handmade puffballs). she compliments my eyeliner and asks how old i am. i’m 17. she’s going into fourth grade. she thinks i’m pretty and i tell her she’s pretty too.
she asks to sit down with me in the spinny chairs and points to my starbucks cup.
"coffee?" and makes the most scrunchy-ew-gross face.
"yeah. strong coffee."
"i like the strawberry frappecino. you should try that." she says, the most honest and earnest look on her face.
"i will next time!" i say.
"what’s your favourite animal?"
at this point i’m so full of joy because people my age don’t ask that anymore.
"mmm orca whales, what about you?"
she accidentally starts saying her name, apologizes. "horses." she says definitely, still embarrassed.
"my favourite animal is me, actually," i say, giggling. "i’m changing my answer."
and she just laughs! so hard! and smiles! so big! she’s been homeschooled for three years. she’s starting fourth grade in a month. the same school she went to kindergarten at that used to have frozen lemonade with lunch. i have friends who went there.
"it’s not too bad. i loved fourth grade." i say and her mom walks over, finished making their next appointment. "you’ll get the hang of it."
she shrugs and nods like that’s the most sage advice ever, and bounces out the door with her mom to go get a strawberry frappecino.
i am left to sit in the waiting room of my therapist’s office, no longer contemplating whether the croissant i ate for breakfast was worth the calories.

zany to me how these um actually nihilists like to pretend that "um actually love/friendship/cooperation/kindness isn't real bc we evolved that way to benefit ourselves as a species..." um YES? that's also where tool use comes from? that's where cooking comes from? am i supposed to think social bonds & tool use & cooking aren't "real" because they evolved over time instead of appearing fully formed from the ether?
sorry u can't enjoy things. im a superior being twirling a fork in my bowl of delicious noodles whilst staring in adoration at the world

why is religious Christmas imagery all so joyful and pleasant? where is the inherent horror of the birth of Christ? A mother is handed her newborn child, wailing and innocent. Her hands come away sticky. Red. Simply by giving her son life she has already killed him. He is doomed from the beginning. Her love will not save him from suffering. Because the thing cradled in her arms is not a baby, it is a sacrifice: born amongst the other bleating animals whose blood will one day be spilled in the name of what demands it. the night is silent with anticipation. Mary, did you know? That your womb was also a grave?

got held up on the way to work today because there was a big snake trying to sun herself on the highway right on the way out of town & the lady in the grey subaru in front of me put her warning lights on & got out to try & shoo her into the grassy sunny verge on the other roadside. & it was afternoon and busy but the logging trucks stopped & waited & the family cars stopped & waited & the long haul truckers stopped & waited for that snake to cross the road. nobody so much as honked. & when the snake was safe the road was backed up in both directions but a fellow in a pickup truck waved at me to go ahead (i was waiting to turn right onto the highway) even though he could have made me wait until the whole long line of cars passed. what i am trying to say is: there is still love in this world. what i am trying to say is: happy pride to me & to that big old bull snake who will live to see another sunrise & to every person on that highway who decided that saving her was worth five minutes of delay

yandere monster x darling who found them in the woods. Darling y/n who showed them a bit of kindness by not running away immediately and offering a bit of food from their bag. The creature looked thin but large in height and certainly not weak in any way.
You’ve heard legends about this monster. Legends that strictly stated that it killed anyone who crossed the woods and was the opposite of forgiving. But it didn’t try to hurt you so why not!
Oh and it would never hurt you. Not after you treated it so kindly. Surely it must mean you hold them so dearly in your heart, right? You’re not like the other village people
Yan!monster who didn’t realize it until hours after it last saw you. How stupid of them, you were gone already! They should have followed you back home, you would have welcomed them in right? You like them after all. And they like you.
They’ll spend the rest of their lives searching for that feeling again, for you specifically.
They know the woods like the back of their hand, they’ll search endlessly until they catch a bit of your scent. No matter how long it takes. It pays attention whenever it hears or smells another human, but it’s never you. And those humans never come out of the woods again. Come find them please, they yearn to hear your voice again and the softness of your expression. They don’t know what they’ll do if they don’t find you soon

One thing for those who have watched The Boy and The Heron or will watch it. The Japanese title for it is How Do You Live? And Miyazaki stated he was leaving it for his grandson, saying, "Grandpa is moving onto the next world soon but he is leaving behind this film".
The deaths of contemporaries and friends such as Satoshi Kon and Isao Takahata and also the expected successor of Yoshifumi Kondo were things that have always weighed heavily on the back of Miyazaki's mind.
He recognizes the industry and the occupation for how soul crushing it was, grinding up either the spirit or the physical body of those who work in it. He loves and hates the industry he stands on the peak of and fully recognizes how it will probably be the death of him. And he knows it'll leave him unable to say a lot of things to his Grandson.
So How Do You Live? is a lesson. For his grandson. For himself. For his two sons. And probably for anyone else willing to pay attention.
Hayao Miyazaki is a flawed man that makes things so important to so many people. And I think more than any other film of his, in this you get to pull back the curtain a bit and see him at work. And what should be this giant unblemished titan can be seen for what he is, a sad old man who had higher hopes for himself and has even higher hopes for the people he makes his work for.
It's a beautiful thing to see another's humanity in their work. To look past the artifice and glam of commercialized art and find humans behind it. And humans willing to show their humanity and mortality is even rarer. And something to be celebrated. So when you watch it. Or if you've watched it already. Understand that this film is Miyazaki kneeling down, weary after years of weaving dreams and making mistakes, reaching out and saying to you that he hopes you can do better. It's an old man who's made all the mistakes of the world passing it on to you, hoping you do better, and making sure you know it's okay if you don't.
How do you Live? By making mistakes. By messing up. But still moving forward. And still reaching out.
