it’s this blog’s one year anniversary 🥹🫶🏻

happy one year y’all !! ah, wow, so many things have happened over this past year ,,, it honestly feels like i’ve been on here forever with you guys as almost another family to come to at the end of the day to listen to all my rambling about my love for jake haha (i’m half kidding) but, you guys, i’m rlly, rlly thankful for y’all. you’ve shown me sm love over this past year, more than i could’ve ever imagined. this blog has been growing crazy fast, and in just one year, with close to around 115 works (how ???) we’ve already hit 3.23k followers (hOW ??!?) !! that’s absolutely insane and incredible and i just wanna give a huge shout out and this is my shout out- to you all for making this such a fun experience and for reading and enjoying and showing love to my works, but also me as a person. i’m so grateful, and i will make an effort to work even harder in the future to repay you guys <3

ah, i’ve met so many incredible ppl along the way as well, and i wanna take this time to thank some of them, however, bc there’s just so many amazing ppl i’ve met, and you all are so special to me and have made my time on here so enjoyable, i unfortunately can’t name them all, but to just a few who have made my time on here particularly special…

Omg omg hiiii yes I sure can!!! I actually work at the elementary school I used to go to, in a before/afterschool care program where parents can, as the name suggests, drop their kids off before or after school starts so they don't have to take the bus to or from school :) The school is K-3 and only eight minutes from my house, which is fantastic, because I most love working with younger kids and it's SO convenient!!

I work two hours mornings and three hours afternoons basically any time I can manage (though I'm cutting back this semester, since the last one was pretty grueling-- I was doing every shift I physically could, lmao). It's very straightforward: I get to interact with the kids by playing board games and cards or even drawing with them when we're in the cafeteria, or play games outside/in the gym when we do either of those! Fun fact, I arranged a pretty banger "among us" game on the playground last year, and kids who had me last year asked me specifically to facilitate it again this year!! (INCLUDING a family friend who I spent new year's with, so some of my time with friends was interrupted by first- and fourth-graders running into our room asking to be assigned crewmate or imposter, LMAO) I also do homework help and arrange crafts (mostly origami, but I like finding fun coloring pages and other stuff too!) :)))

As you can see from my rambling, I love my job soooo much ahahaha 😊😊😊 It really is so fulfilling!! My kids are so sweet and so funny and so cute, and also, I get PAID to play cards and color?? Yes please!! What experience have you had so far? Your major sounds like a dream, I wish you all the best!!!!

It felt like it had been forever since the last time he had been in this situation, sitting side-by-side with the other simian — their favorite spot even after so much centuries had past. Never thinking he’d be here once more. Felt almost like a dream to him that he’d wake up from any minute now and find himself alone. The only indication that kept him grounded to reality was the golden simian’s tail firmly but gently coiled around his own, squeezing every so often in the moment. Content sigh escaping him.

Not much had changed either — Lumen excitement over the celebration commencing as the midnight hour approached. After all, it meant that he’d get to see one of his favorite things in the world. Fireworks. That fascination having never seemed to have faded even after all this time — remembering the first time his best friend had dragged him to a spot to watch as a neighboring village close to the mountains set off a display of them. The excitement and pure wonderment that had spread across his features in that moment was one he would always remember.

Brought back to present as his companion began the countdown, voice always commanding presence with reverberating sound. A soft chuckle escapes the shadowy simian as he shakes his head in amusement. Somethings really never change as he joins Lumen in the countdown — voice softer than the other’s as he does. While the enchanted earplugs had helped lessen the noise that didn’t mean he was throwing caution to the wind like that. There was enough noise anyway and the other simian was loud enough for both them anyway.

“3...2...1...”

“HAPPY NEW YEA — ?!”

His cheer cut short, getting grabbed in the moment and pulled towards his mate — feeling lips pressed against his in a heated fashion the next moment. A startled noise leaving in a soft gasp, which allowed the other to deepen the contact. Doing his best to stop further noises from spilling. Dammit, leave it to Lumen to decide to surprise him like this — not that he was complaining in the moment much, his arms encircling around the other’s shoulders to draw him closer. Pressing into the kiss with equal passion on his end. His tail further tangling into it’s golden partner.

Moments passing before they reluctantly part, his arms remaining secure around the other’s shoulders. Finding himself practically sitting now in his golden mate’s lap as a smirk forms across his lips followed by a bemused chuckle. Claws twirling into the Monkey King’s locks of hair, mindlessly playing with the strands in a delicate manner.

“ — well, that is certainly ONE way to greet the New Year.”

Placing a soft kiss between the other’s brows before letting his forehead rest against his, just enjoying the moment now. Fireworks ringing out behind them and singing out into the night sky. Purring rumbling to life in his chest and just soaking it all in — already greatly enjoying the New Year.
