just finished undertale. ok i see the vision. i now understand yall's Sans-to-Benrey obsession pipeline. and the Papyrus-to-Tommy Coolatta pipeline

Any analysis of how Undertale deals with Pacifism and how it tries to guide the Player towards it has to take a deep look at Papyrus. Because Papyrus is the one character in the game who will never kill, the one actual ‘True Pacifist’ in the game’s main cast. 

I mean, the Player can be an even bigger Pacifist. Papyrus does still FIGHT, and the Player can get through an entire run without draining a single sliver of HP. But… they can also be the world’s biggest murderbastard and literally stab reality to death. 

Toriel would very much like to not kill, but she is also fully capable of doing so.

Same with Asgore, but he has a lot more actual blood on his hands. Undyne and Mettaton are both fully 100% willing to kill to accomplish their goals. Sans is non-violent in most runs because he’s too lazy and depressed to do anything, and when he is motivated into actions - it is in the form of a FIGHT to the death. Alphys… the timeline is a bit fuzzy cause both she and Mettaton love lying so much, but it seems like she did sincerely add deadly weapons to Mettaton cause killing humans would make him more 'useful' and then had second thoughts once she developed a parasocial relationship with the Human Child and THEN she and Mettaton started hatching their little play-acting plan. I think??

With Papyrus there is NONE of this ambiguity, we know for sure - no matter what timeline or what may come - The Great Papyrus will always choose MERCY.

And the interesting thing about that is on a Meta-Sense, Papyrus is a very rare example of the game giving MERCY towards the Player. 

Because the game starts out being really obtuse with the Sparing mechanic and how it works. If you want to be a Pacifist in Undertale from the get-go, you’re gonna have to work for it. You're gonna have to figure it out on your own and commit to it and believe that it's possible. It's basically a test of your own belief in non-violence and your moral integrity. Then, the RUINS end with the Toriel boss battle - in a way, that’s probably the hardest Sparing puzzle in the whole game. And it’s very very easy to accidentally kill her. (I’d almost say that’s the intention of the battle, to try to goad the Player into Resetting so they can see how the game remembers across RESETs)

And then we have Papyrus, and it’s not just that his ‘Sparing Puzzle’ is something as simple as outlasting him and letting him run out of dialogue - and it’s not just that he’s the only boss that will just give up and let you continue if you lose to him enough times. it’s also that, just as Papyrus is the only boss incapable of accidentally killing the Player - he’s also the only boss that the player is incapable of accidentally killing.

(Okay, fine, to be pedantic, there’s also Asgore)

I mean, the Player can certainly kill him if they want to - but draining Papyrus’s HP just makes him skip through his battle dialogue right to the end of it. It’s designed in such a way that, no matter what Route you're on and no matter what approach you take with Papyrus - you will always end up on this screen.

Unlike basically any other Monster in this game, including the major boss battle just before him - you can’t kill Papyrus accidently. You can't kill him without also having Sparing him as an option. The game kinda treats killing Papyrus as one of the Worst Things You Can Do because killing Papyrus will always be a deliberate, considered action done to a person who will not kill you and who has stopped wanting to FIGHT and has extended a hand of Mercy. With the game clearly communicating what you need to do to Spare him at that moment.

And that means that - even if you killed before, even if you don’t have the patience of a True Pacifist, even if you spent all this time in the game without even trying to engage with the Sparing mechanic… as long as you don’t want to be a Huge Rat Bastard, the game is basically gifting you with the very very easy option to not be. Being a Pacifist in Undertale is usually a challenge - a puzzle to be solved, a test to pass. But as long as you aren’t intentionally trying to be the Worst Person - the game is basically giving you Papyrus. 

If you accept his Mercy, you are accepting the game’s Mercy. That sort of benefit-of-the-doubt assumption that maybe all of the LOVE you might have accumulated so far was all due to honest mistakes or panic or an attempt in self-defense. That you still deserve this one chance to prove that you are not intentionally, maliciously cruel - or at least not like the Worst Person in the World. Even if you did kill before, you still deserve at least one friend.

And Sparing Papyrus leads you to his wonderful Hangout/Dating Sequence and to his Phone Calls and they all add so much wholesome charm to the Undertale experience and no matter what happens Papyrus will always think the best of the Player and he will always trust them and it also makes Sans also kinda your buddy by default. And more than just adding a little bit of wholesome charm into even the more LOVE-filled Playthroughs, I think this is meant to try and incentivize these players into trying out the Mercy mechanic a bit more.

Whatever it’s, like, for future playthroughs or Resetting the game right there to try a True Pacifist Run right there and then or just trying to be a little kinder for the rest of this current playthrough - especially since there’s an emphasis about the close friendship Papyrus has with the upcoming boss Undyne, and to a lesser extent with his idol and next-next boss battle Mettaton. It’s like “well, if you didn’t figure out how to spare before, this is how you do it? And isn’t it nice to have a friend? Isn’t it nice to not have to kill this lovable skeleton man? You should do this more often wink wink nudge nudge!”

And it’s like… all of Papyrus’ loved ones care about him so much but they also look down on his pacifism. They see his inability to kill and desire to make friends as simple naivete and that’s why all tend to hide the truth from him all the time. About what will happen to the Human he will capture, about what his new Human friend might’ve done, about the fact that they view him as so naïve. 

They admire it on some level, that’s why they want to protect it, but they also see it as a weakness which is why they want to protect it by lying to him all the time. But, you know, Undyne says that if Papyrus goes into battle he’ll be ‘ripped into little smiling shreds’ and that is certainly what happens every time a Player chooses to refuse Papyrus’ Mercy and the game’s Mercy and press that FIGHT button…

But have you thought about all the times that doesn’t happen? All the careless or violent players who were offered that skeletal hand of friendship, accepted it and then carried that offered kindness forward for the rest of the game? All the players motivated to do good for the sake of their buddy Papyrus? All the Murder Routes stopped because the player just didn’t have it in them to kill someone who believes in them so earnestly?

Like, no, it’s not a surefire thing - especially since Papyrus has so much less narrative power than the Actual Unkillable Time God that is the Player. But it happened, and it happened many many times to many players. Papyrus offered Mercy, the game offered Mercy. And much like Frisk’s Pacifism, it comes from a place of seeing the honest goodness in your ‘enemy’ and can inspire them to become a better person - this little sparkle of goodness being passed forwards. 

And I think that’s beautiful, even if it didn’t happen in every timeline. Any potential future where Papyrus’ kindness can have such an effect on the Player and thus the entire trajectory of the Underground validates his kindness and pacifism on some level - even if there are also always the potential worlds that it backfires completely. 

And there’s also one other way in which the Great Papyrus Proves Pacifism Pays. One that is a bit more practical, perhaps. And one that Papyrus himself is not even aware of. 

Papyrus’ boss battle can be a surprisingly challenging one specifically because he is the only one who doesn’t kill the Player.

Like there is a reason why Papyrus will just offer you to skip his Fight after you lose to him three times, because if he didn’t do that - there’s an honest risk that the Player can get stuck in a much stuckier way than anywhere else in the game. 

Because, like, for basically any other character in the game, being killed is the Worst Thing that could ever happen to them. For everyone except the actual Player Character because we are an Actual Unkillable Time God and dying is nothing more than a minor annoyance that sets you back to your last SAVE Point. So, leaving aside Papyrus’ admirably kind intentions - there is not much material difference from the Player’s perspective between getting Captured and getting a more traditional GAME OVER. Except…

Except getting Captured does not undo everything that happened in your inventory during the battle. In every other Undertale battle, if you use all of your items but still lose - the GAME OVER at least means you get your stuff back. But because Papyrus doesn’t kill you, any healing item you’ve used during the battle is still used. I have watched so many Undertale Let’s Players waste all of their valuable items on their first Papyrus battle and then have to face him again without them and thus do even worse in their second go… and then their third go... and thankfully then Papyrus offers them to skip the fight.

And while that technically can be circumvented by just manually closing the game and opening it back again on their pre-battle SAVE Point, a lot of players are gonna reflexively Save over it if they pop over to the Shop or the Snowed Inn before their second attempt at the battle. If Papyrus didn’t offer that chance to skip his battle, it could’ve easily become a softlock situation for a huge chunk of players - because he doesn’t kill the Player.

Most of Undertale deals with the value of non-violence from a standpoint of morality and kindness and personal connections. Since most people do die when they get killed. But when dealing with an Unkillable Time God like the Player, Papyrus proves that not-killing might actually be the most practical solution.

Of course, it doesn’t seem like Papyrus is aware of any of this. From his perspective, he is just offering genuine mercy to a being just as ephemeral as he is. But it accidentally turned into one of the most effective methods of blocking the Player’s way… at least he didn’t offer us an opt out so soon after that. 

And it’s interesting when comparing him to how his brother Sans - one of the few people actually aware of the existence of SAVEs and RESETs - deals with the Player. Because the Sans boss battle at the end of the Murder Route is entirely based on the concept that death is nothing but an annoyance to the Player. Sans is less trying to kill the Player (the way Undyne the Undying did), he is simply trying to annoy the Player into a ragequit. But he is still killing the Player.

Now imagine a Sans battle where he has all of his usual annoying tricks, but also instead of killing you - he captures you just like his brother would’ve in a happier timeline. And while it’s not a fool-proof plan to stop the Player in their tracks - he could very easily stick them in that sort of softlock situation where they have to battle him again and again without any Healing Items. Forcing them to either abandon the game or RESET the whole world back the way it was - just like Sans wants them too. 

But instead, by killing the Player, he is just allowing that perfect second-third-fourth-fifth-sixth-try where they get all of their Stuff back. And he does actually knows that. And why doesn’t he do that? (Speaking here from an in-universe character study perspective. Obviously the Doylist answer is that the game doesn’t want to Softlock you even in the most deliberately-frustrating part of the game).

Maybe, even though he intellectually knows that killing the Player will be of no help - he still does it because he wants to. Because he just wants to get back at the evil murderous monster that took his brother from him and destroyed his entire world even if he knows it’s actually ineffective. And this thirst for bloodshed is, ironically, blinding him from a new exciting way to actually practically stop that murderous bastard who is themself motivated entirely by bloodshed. 

Maybe he just can’t do something like that. Reducing an enemy to exactly one HP and then stopping is not a feat anyone else in the game is capable of pulling off - even the ones who would obviously use such a thing (like Toriel or a Player with a Pacifist intentions). Maybe it’s something that requires a lot of hard practice and discipline and carefulness, that Sans never thought to put in because he didn’t see it as a useful skill the way Papyrus did. 

Maybe that wouldn’t have worked anyways. After all, and that’s something I kinda touched on in a previous Overly Long Rambly Hot Take - Sans’ War of Attrition against the Player is greatly helped by the fact he can’t remember every single previous try and so he can’t get exhausted the way the Player can get. Obviously, without a GAME OVER induced RESET that will not apply. Which is especially notable because… Sans’ laziness is literally what brings him down at the end of that Boss Battle. 

So maybe, while Papyrus, as long as you decline his offer to skip the battle, is capable of offering just the same Battle as before over and over and over again.... It’s possible that Sans just won’t be able to pull off two or three or more battles of the same intensity and difficulty in a row without a RESET to undo his own exhaustion. 

But I think it’s at least worth considering the option, y’know? That after all this time of viewing Papyrus’ kindness as sweet-and-yet-kinda-foolish-naïveté - that exact viewpoint made Sans overlook the perfect solution to dealing with his little Murderous Time God problem. Cause he just never considered that while killing might be fully morally justifiable in this situation and very very satisfying, that does not necessarily mean it is actually the most practical solution. And that maybe, in a weirdly twisted way, Pacifism WAS the answer.

Some Undertale gamer headcanons:

Someone said that Toriel would be the world Tetris champion, and I'm not sure why, but I agree with that. And not just Tetris, but bubble-poppers, match 3, marble-shooters, all of those kinds of games. She's the new Candy Crush mascot.

I've also seen people say sans would be into rhythm games, and... no. Why would you think he would be into something that takes that much effort? Seriously, come on. What sans is into is farming sim games. He's written dozens of online strategy guides for Stardew Valley, all of them under different pseudonyms.

Papyrus is into online multiplayers. All of them, any genre- Fortnite, Apex Legends, Fall Guys, Elder Scrolls Online, Runescape, you name it. He sucks at all of them, but none of his online friends is willing to tell him how bad he is because he's so darned innocent and nice. Nobody really wants him on their team because he'll always make them fail the mission, but he's so upbeat and uplifting that no one has the heart to tell him they don't want him.

Undyne loves Souls-like and dungeon crawlers, but she struggles with anything that requires stealth, she just doesn't. do. stealth. She says it's stupid to have to sneak up on enemies, she should just be able to barge in with guns or swords or spears blazing in any and all circumstances. Don't ever even suggest Metal Gear to her. Or Breath of the Wild- she rage-quit after the Yiga Clan Hideout quest (although it did leave her with the impression that bananas give you strength in battle, so she now always keeps a bunch of bananas on hand).

Blooky plays solitaire and Mah Jongg, and even those stress them out.

Maddie plays casino and slots games. On an unrelated note, she's always broke.

Mettaton is the rhythm games master. You will not change my mind on this.

Alphys is HEAVY into JRPG's. The more anime it looks, the more she loves it.

Asgore has no idea what a video game is. Well, ok, he has some idea, his kids both played games, but he never could figure them out. He thinks Sonic and Crash are both Mario characters and that Link is a girl- you get the idea. But he did used to play card and board games with Toriel. Especially chess (she totally owned his ass in every match). Ever since Toriel left, he can't bring himself to play chess. He plays checkers a lot, tho. He usually loses (he plays against himself).

Asriel and Chara were into action/adventure games. Asriel's favorite characters were Yoshi and Link, while Chara's favorites were Samus and Shadow the Hedgehog. What? No, I'm not projecting my favorite games onto the Dreemurr kids. What are you talking about?

Frisk has only ever played the hit indie game Undertale. About 500 times. Always Pacifist, they've never even tried a Geno run. They've been thinking about playing that Deltarune game, too, but they kinda wanna wait until the whole thing is released.

Undertale Sans - He sexy dances in the middle of the road just for you, I hope you're proud. Sans doesn't care and will gladly play along with your antics. That's part of the things he loves the most.

Undertale Papyrus - Uno reverse card, Papyrus screams in the middle of the road "I KNOW MY ASS IS AMAZING BUT COULD YOU WALK FASTER?", making you flush instead as everyone is now staring at you. You need to try harder.

Underswap Sans - You're honking at him? Fine. The next day, on your way to work, a police siren suddenly makes you jump as Blue screams "NICE BUTT" in the police microphone, which echoes in the whole street. Two can play this game. His honk is bigger.

Underswap Papyrus - He becomes entirely orange, paralyzed in the middle of the street. He can't believe you just did that. He refuses to turn around as he hears people laughing. Instead, he just decides to protect himself from your flirting by passing out on the floor. You stressed him too much lol.

Underfell Sans - He stares at you in disbelief. Really? You're doing this now? You think he can't play your game? He whistles at you. An old lady thinks he's cat calling her and suddenly charges him to beat him with her handbag. Red is trying to apologize, she won't stop, as you're dying with laughter in the background, not moving a finger.

Underfell Papyrus - He keeps walking, the face entirely red, ignoring you. He will ignore you during the whole grocery trip, not even looking at you. But you know it's working because every time he accidentally meets your eyes, he somehow turns even more crimson. Edge is broken.

Horrortale Sans - He turns around to look at you, confused why you're honking at him. He comes back to you to ask if you need something more for the groceries. :( He's too much of a sweetheart, you're dead beat.

Horrortale Papyrus - You pick the wrong skeleton to mess with. Willow has a very good poker face and he's ignoring you. Now five different people think you cat called them and they're all coming at you. Willow waves to you at the door of the grocery store. You did this to yourself, have fun. Well. Shit.

Swapfell Sans - When you honk he slowly turns around and just:

He huffs dramatically, rolls his eyes at you and keeps walking like the drama queen he is lol.

Swapfell Papyrus - He turns around and magically make appears a Uno reverse card. He sends a kiss your way, winks, and keeps going. Better luck next time!

Fellswap Gold Sans - Wine gives you the cold shoulder. He just stares into your soul for a few seconds, judging you so much you feel suddenly ashamed for no reason. Yeah, he has that power.

Fellswap Gold Papyrus - He loses focus and trips head-first on the road, as his legs stop working. You gasp and run to save him. Yeah, Coffee can't take a lot of compliments...

Mafiatale Sans: Oh that's a mood for sure. He knows how it feels to only want to laze around because it doesn't feel like anything is worth moving. However, he also knows that it's not good for you. Though he definitely will indulge in shitty eating and lazing around, he'll drag you around on some of his errands and little adventures. Not only that, but he'll also take a leaf out of Papyrus's book and encourage you to feel better!

Mafiatale Papyrus: Papyrus has dealt with Sans's nonsense his whole life, he knows how to help! He'll gently encourage you to get up and eat a vegetable every now and then. If you don't feel like getting out of bed, never fear! He'll scoop you out of bed and carry you until you feel better!

Mafiaswap Sans (Lucky): Even if Lucky doesn't understand the feeling, he knows his brother feels the same as you most of the time. So he'll do what he does with Slim: be there for you whenever you need him! He won't try to force you to feel better, that's never going to work. But he'll definitely get you out of the house more, help you make friends and build a support system! But he can definitely be persuaded into staying in bed with you sometimes, turning a depressed morning into a wonderful cuddle session!

Mafiaswap Papyrus (Slim): Oof, that hits too close to home for him. If you tell him how much you don't like your lifestyle, he'll realize that he's maybe a bad echo chamber for you. He'll do his best to change himself for you! He'll "coincidentally" be going out for a walk (no matter how much it shocks Lucky) when you have free time, and encourage you to come with him, buy better food, and maybe even try to get you to talk to a therapist! Until you do, he's always there for you, honey.

Mafiafell Sans (Butch): Yikes, he may not be the best guy to help with this. He definitely has the same habits, but he'll want to help in any way he can. He might help you find a counselor or therapist of some kind, maybe even go to one himself. Stars knows he needs one. If you don't want to though, he'll definitely help with the self esteem. He thinks you're the cutest lil thing in the world, and he's gonna let you know it!

Mafiafell Papyrus (Noir): Though he may not be the most gentle or understanding, Noir will certainly do his best! He loves you, and a few less than healthy habits aren't going to change that! He exercises every morning, and though you may not want to, he'll certainly try to drag you out for a walk in the mornings. Exercise is good for human's health, he thinks, maybe this is a start?

Mafiaswapfell Sans (Scar): Ah, his time has come. He knows all too well what depression looks like, he saw it all the time Underground. He'll instantly see that you need help when you never go outside, laying in bed and losing track of time. If you let him, he'll help you make a schedule that gets you interacting with people more, getting you out of the house, and eating better. If you don't, though, that's okay too. He wants you to be happy more than anything, and if being a listening ear is what you need, that's what he'll be. Even if he doesn't have ears.

Mafiaswapfell Papyrus (Hound): He knows all too well what depression and low self esteem feels like. Even though he doesn't know how to help very much, all he can do is offer his love. Your love helped him, so hopefully his love can help you! He'll tell you how much he loves you, bad habits and all, and help you see the beauty of life. If he can do that, hopefully it will help you!

First Day, Previous Day, & Next Day.

Day 7: First Kiss

Today was turning out to be a good day. You were in a good mood, as was Frisk, who was currently set up at the kitchen table with some crayons and a couple pieces of paper. No doubt they were focused on making a masterpiece and who were you to disrupt their creative process?

Right now, you were making one of their favorites - grilled cheese. They'd specifically requested it earlier when you asked if they wanted a snack. It was a simple comfort food but one you enjoyed making every now and then.

You were just finishing cooking the second side of the sandwich when you were startled by Papyrus' arms snaking around your waist from behind. Although, you quickly realized he was giving you a hug and so you relaxed again, only sparing him a small glance over your shoulder.

Then, you felt him nuzzle against the back of your head. You froze up, as what had at first been a sweet gesture, had suddenly become more intimate. You didn't know how you should react to this. Did it mean something else in Monster culture and you were just misinterpreting his actions?

"I Love Coming Into A Room And Seeing You Already There, Precious..." he whispered softly into your hair.

You felt your cheeks grow warm and it was all you could do to keep from covering your face in embarrassment. In any other context, you would've taken it as a genuine compliment but now, you didn't know what to do with yourself. So rather than causing a scene in front of Frisk, you tried to remain calm.

Taking a deep breath, you focused on transferring the grilled cheese from the pan to a plate. After turning off the element, you turned and went to give it to Frisk. Thankfully, Papyrus let go but you could practically feel his smug gaze on your back as you walked away.

You set the plate down next to Frisk and gave them an affectionate pat on the head. They turned and grinned at you before touching their chin with the tips of their fingers, palm in, and bringing it down in a swinging motion.

"Thank you!"

"You're welcome, kiddo." You grinned, feeling slightly relieved that they hadn't seemed to have witnessed what just happened. There was no way you were in the mood to try and attempt to explain romance to them...despite that they apparently knew a little bit already.

You then turned and narrowed your eyes at Papyrus. He grinned and his eyelights seemed to smolder with how pleased he was.

Rolling your eyes, you strode over to him and grabbed his arm, before tugging him to follow you into the living room. Surprisingly, he didn't put up a fight and seemed willing to go along with it.

As soon as you were out of immediate eavesdropping range, you turned on Papyrus and crossed your arms, fixing him with your most stern look. "Why would you act like that when Frisk was right there?" you hissed. "They're still a child and they won't understand what we're doing..."

While you scolded him, Papyrus only watched you silently, a slight grin playing on his skull the whole time. When you trailed off, he placed a hand under your chin and tilted it up slightly to meet his own gaze.

"I Know, Rihanna," he whispered softly. "Did You Not Like It?"

Stunned, you stared up at him before responding in a quiet whisper. "I... I did like it..."

His other arm wrapped around your waist and he gently pulled you closer. Moving closer, he whispered in your ear, "Would You Like To Do It For Real Then?"

"Yes..."

No sooner had you answered, Papyrus closed the distance between you. His sharp teeth lightly pressed against your much softer lips for a brief but magical moment. It was completely different from any kiss you'd experienced, and yet, your heart was thrilled like it hadn't been before.

When you finally separated, you gazed into each other's eyes for a moment longer. You weren't sure what Papyrus was thinking right now, but his scarlet eyelights spoke only of admiration for you. It made you feel warm and so happy at the same time.

"Did You Like That Then, Precious?" he murmured softly.

You nodded, feeling your cheeks grow familiarly warm once again.

Papyrus chuckled, "Maybe Next Time I Will Show You What Else I Can Do..." Before you could ask what he meant by that, his eyelights seemed to burn brighter and his teeth parted slightly to reveil a glowing red tongue.

Your eyes widened and you quickly pulled away. Papyrus only chuckled as you futilely swatted at him, clearly proud of how flustered he'd managed to make you.

so if/when he gets a garden he tells reader how to grow really nice shi for no reason at all

Undertale is 8 years old today, and Papyrus is still one of my favorite fictional characters of all time, and definitely the one that's still the most important to me. Thank you, Toby Fox, for everything.

Time to get sentimental.

I was in middle school when Undertale came out. I wasn't there for the release, but I was there before the new year, around November.

At the time, I was in the worst mental state I have ever been in. I was deep, deep in the depths of depression, and no one in my family believed me when I told them that, since I had always been the "dramatic child". Attention-seeking. My brother was still very young at the time, too, so y'know.

To put it bluntly, my life was in danger from my own mind. Without saying the word, you can probably guess what I mean. I was alone, when I tried to reach out for help I was either denied or made fun of, and I was getting increasingly worse.

Then Undertale came into my life.

I loved it instantly, watching Jack play through the game and then quickly convincing my parents to buy it for me once I got to the end of his pacifist route. And playing it myself took weeks, since I wasn't good at games and the bullet hell format was torture, but finally making it to the end and getting to hug Asriel for myself marked a change in my life's trajectory.

See, I did not have the courage to play through the genocide route on my own, instead watching Lets Plays and YouTubers React compilations. I remember latching onto Flowey and Chara immediately (and I was in the camp of thinking Chara was good until the fandom made me second-guess myself, unfortunately). I remember getting upset at Undyne's death and feeling awful at Sans'. And I knew what the game was trying to tell me, I picked up on the themes of love and mercy.

But that's not the part that stood out the most to me. That, instead, goes to Papyrus' death in the genocide route.

"W-WELL, THAT'S NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING. ST... STILL, I BELIEVE YOU CAN DO A LITTLE BETTER, EVEN IF YOU DON'T THINK SO. I... I PROMISE."

This single quote saved my life. I say that without exaggeration.

Whenever I was struggling in school, I'd ask myself what Papyrus would tell me if he were there. And then he'd comfort me. Lift me up. Encourage me. Told me I wasn't the terrible person I thought I was, and even if I was that person, I had the potential and capability of change. I could do better. BE better. Help others do better.

So I did. I used that energy to pull myself out of my depression (by myself, btw. no one came to help me except one (1) teacher, who finally convinced my parents something was wrong with me, and even then they didn't really do much to help so). I put forth a persona of kindness, one that I embodied more and more as the months and eventually years went on.

To this day, I still try to be like Papyrus.

He's not perfect, far from it, but he also acknowledges his flaws while lifting himself and others up despite them. He loves himself, and uses that self-love to help other people, which is something I still desperately want to embody.

Papyrus' encouragement was the one thing I had to cling to when I was deep underwater, and he brought me up high enough that I could start swimming on my own again.

Was it silly? Yeah. Was it cringy? Maybe at the time. Do I regret it? Hell no.

When I fell, Paps was there to catch me, even if it was just from my own imagination. But if he could help me out that much simply by existing and leading by example, then goddamnit, there's hope. Hope I cling to every day.

Thank you, Papyrus. I owe you my life.

Thank you, Toby Fox, for creating Undertale in general. The whole game helped me out to many, many extensions (like telling me lesbians and trans people exist lol), but I can't emphesize enough just how much it's helped others, too. Just how sincere the game is. Hopeful. I look at Undertale today and I see a better future. Thank you.

And thanks for reading. Surely this isn't the first story you've heard like this, as Undertale is just one of those games that touched a lot of people, so I appreciate you giving it the read. Undertale means a lot to me, and it always will.

Movie Night With The AU Bros

Undertale-

Sans: Brings only the best snacks for his S/O! But he will absolutely knock out like 5 minutes after the movie starts. But hey, atleast you get to cuddle with your sleepy skeleton boyfriend!

Papyrus: One of the only times where he’ll actually sit down and relax for more than 10 minutes at a time. He’s the type of skeleton that will want to be up and doing something all the time. It may take a bit to convince him to have that movie night with you. But he can’t bare to say no to you THAT many times.

Underfell-

Red: Edge wouldn’t allow him honestly so you’d have to wait until he’s out of the house on his guard duties for the night, which is often atleast. He’s a sucker for sleepy kisses while a horror movie is playing in the background. And you’d best bet he’s gonna wanna hold your hand the whole time.

Edge: He won’t enjoy “lazing” around like his brother but it’ll be easy to convince him. As his S/O, he could never think of disappointing you! Boy doesn’t even watch the movie half the time, he stares at you as you lay atop him. He’ll keep his arms securely wrapped around you until you decide you want to go to bed, but if you wanted to sleep right there on the couch, he won’t object!

Underswap-

Blue: SIMP. We all know he’s actually a big strong guy yeah? But he would be the type to adore watching Disney movies with his S/O. Nostalgia nights as you two watch movies while in a pillow fort that Blue lovingly made. N’ Stretch would take pics of you two after you both fell asleep in the fort.

Stretch: In his room only for the purpose of getting high, this man is a pothead. Watching something like Veggietales only when you two get high together. Otherwise when you’re both having a movie night, it’ll be both of you cuddled together under a blanket since he refuses to turn up the thermostat.

Swapfell-

Nox: Definitely has only ever watched romances, drama, and theatre shows before you started dating. While he prefers to go out and spoil you for date nights, he’s content with just getting a bottle of wine out for the two of you while watching your favorite movies.

Rus: Honestly, most of your dates are movie nights in the living room. He doesn’t like going out or people that much and he feels much safer inside with you. He doesn’t prefer any genre over another so it’s fully up to you and he’ll be in charge of snacks so you know it’ll be good. If you’re the type of person to ramble about why you love a movie while watching it, he’ll listen with so much love in his eyes.

Horrortale-

Ash: He would want to close both of you in his room so y’all are away from the other skeletons in the house, he doesn’t want them to tease him. He’s a sucker for sadder movies, like A Dog’s Purpose. I suspect that he just likes it because by the halfway mark of the movie, you’re cuddled next to him and you’re both crying but it’s a really sweet thing to him because then they have the happy endings.

Poplar: He would look up date ideas on Pinterest and find one where the person put up a movie projector outside and cuddle up under the stars watching your favorite movies. He would plan in literally a month in advance. When the time comes for it, it ends up BETTER than what he saw online somehow! You better give him extra love for his effort! Good job Poppy!

First Christmas - Rus (BHC Swapfell Papyrus) x Reader

You hummed along to the christmas music that filled your house, adjusting one of the decorations you’d just placed on the fireplace mantle. Rus had gotten you up earlier than normal this morning, claiming that since it was the first day of December the two of you needed to get the decorations up. You knew what it really was, because he’d been just as excited for Halloween and Thanksgiving for the same reason. This year was the first year you’d be celebrating all of your holidays in your own house together. It made your heart melt to see how eager he was to have these experiences with you and you couldn’t even be mad when he’d dragged you out of bed at seven in the morning.

You turned around and laughed as you saw Rus had somehow gotten himself wrapped up in the tinsel. He smiled at you sheepishly, purple flush coloring his cheekbones.

“I’d ask how you managed that, but honestly I’m not even surprised.” You said, shaking your head fondly as you walked over.

He chuckled, “i dunno, i think this might be the best holiday outfit to date.”

That got another round of laughter from you and did not help in your attempts to untangle your poor boyfriend. After several minutes and almost getting tangled in the tinsel yourself, you finally untangled Rus from the shiny decor.

“How about we do this one together?” You asked, “Maybe I can keep it from trapping you again.”

“well, you know i love to do things with you.” He said, “and uh, yeah, probably a good idea to not get all tangled again.”

The rest of the morning went smoother, with decidedly less of anyone trying to become one with the decorations. You caught Rus in the middle of putting up mistletoe at one point and he’d attempted to explain himself, but you just gave him a quick kiss and went back to your own pile of decor. A few minutes later you’d caught him just staring at you fondly, still in the same position as he had been. You giggled and reminded him he was in the middle of something, pulling him from his content state and flustering him.

By the time you were finished with getting everything put up lunch time had rolled around and so you made a nice, warm lunch for the both of you. Rus insisted on having hot chocolate and you couldn’t bring yourself to say no when he brought out the puppy dog eyes. The two of you sat on the couch as you ate, some random holiday movie playing on the tv.

Rus made a soft, almost thoughtful sounding hum and you looked up at him, arching an eyebrow in a silent question.

“just thinking.” he said, “normally this whole thing would have been more… loud, i guess.”

You nodded, “With all of your cousins and your brother, I bet putting up the decorations was a pretty lively event.”

“lively is one way to describe it.” He chuckled, “i kind of missed it this year.”

He thought for a moment and then leaned down, pressing his teeth to your forehead.

“but i liked this just as much… ya know, just the two of us.” Rus admitted, “it was different, but not in a bad way.”

You wrapped your arms around him and gave him a squeeze, earning a squeak out of the tall skeleton.

“I get it.” You said, “And hey, maybe next year we can at least invite Nox over at least.”

“yeah, that could be nice.” He said, “but i’m glad that this year it’s just us. for this first christmas.”

You nodded in agreement and the two of you slipped into comfortable silence as you sat there. At some point the two of you laid down on the couch, watching whatever holiday specials were playing. The rest of the day was much the same and really, what else could you have asked for, than to spend a relaxing winter day in with your love.

Newfound Family Talk

I don’t regularly talk much about Newfound Family cause it’s been rather slow to come to mind, but I happen to be itching to share my thoughts now as they’re starting to pick up. Some of these will be small, but it’s the little things that count, right?

-Perhaps this may come as a surprise to you, but I’m happy to note that Frisk is especially happy that, for the longest time, they didn’t have to be stressed out about taking some important position like being an ambassador. No, the role they played in was to simply be free and find themselves. Basically, Frisk was able to be a kid all due to Sans and Papyrus being there to shield them from the whole responsibility bit. For now, anyway.

-Something about Frisk’s personality has changed. Cause very gradually after the story of Undertale ended, they began to be more vocal and expressive. For the most part, they would mimic Sans, Papyrus, and a few others. But then it kind of transformed into something entirely different. They really did become their own person, and it was so beautiful to witness. Least that’s what people like Papyrus and Toriel would say.

-Don’t know if you know this, but Frisk is PAINFULLY average in terms of their education and school life. I mean, they don’t really care about popularity or anything of the sort. They just want to get stuff done and doodle on papers cause it’s soothing for them. Best thing to say for Frisk is that in school, they are the type of teen you’d like to hang around with cause they’re so mellow and would make you feel like you’re in good company.

-Frisk loves to sing. Mostly slow melodies as they don’t hurt their vocal cords. Though if you were to hear them, you’d probably come to realize that they have range. It’s a talent very few have the delight to hear.

-Admittedly, if Frisk is hurting. Like REALLY hurting on any level? They will cry out for their brothers and father. Cause the three are really the main ones who have more of a connection with Frisk and how humans behave and feel. Inside and out. Almost instinctively do they call out to them as opposed to anyone else they have.

-Frisk doesn’t like their old pajamas they wore in the underground for many reasons. The colors are even on thin ice just cause they like to wear dimmer clothes as opposed to bright ones. If you were to show them their old clothes, they’d probably grab them and slam them on the ground and run away. Proclaiming them to be “icky and stupid.” What a strange, strange teenager they’ve become.

-Frisk has a reputation for getting scars. Most of which are covered up with their long sleeves and pants, but one scar they try to cover is the one on their right cheek that was from Asriel a long time ago in the underground. It used to be a lot bigger but was healed by Toriel. Most of it anyway. To this day, it still burns and aches. Though Frisk has gotten used to the sensation over time. They just have to change their band-aid from time to time. Just so they don’t scratch it.

-Saying Frisk knows how to fight is an understatement. They were taught by the best, after all. And the best just happens to be Papyrus and Undyne. They particularly don’t like the idea of fighting, but Papyrus had put Frisk at ease and said it would be beneficial for emergencies. And it’s a great way to exercise.

-To compare how tall Frisk is to Chara now? Well, Frisk is short by two inches. Although none are as tall as Asriel. Holy moly, is he eating something to make him as big as his dad. My goodness!!

-Frisk does have a little love life of their own. They have an ongoing relationship with a boy named Oliver who makes Frisk feel right at home with who they are. And have been together since they were kids. Sincerely this is the most happiest they have ever been with another person. In a romantic setting anyway.

-Speaking of love, MK has realized that they have feelings for both Frisk and Oliver. And it’s so funny to see them try to pull themselves together cause like? C’mon, they’re already good friends. It’s too silly to think they could all be together. (It’s in fact, not silly and possible cause they all would get along as partners if MK just talked to Frisk and Oliver about it. But they just barely discovered the fact. The monster needs time!)

-When it comes to Chara and Frisk about blood, it doesn’t seem to phase them. Especially if it’s theirs that’s coming from out their mouth or nose.

-Asriel, on the other hand, hates it. And now that he can bleed the stuff, it’s even worse. He has to bathe himself just so he doesn’t have to smell it. Poor dear gets uncomfortable with it.

-On a different note, the three LOVE the fall season. So mellow and refreshing to be outside and enjoy the rain and cool air. Literally, you will always find them outside when it’s that weather. Often times drinking and eating together as they talk about their lives and junk.

I’m overall a little sarcastic but kind person. I will take most opportunities (that’s open) to make a dirty joke but only if I’m comfortable with that person. I’m mostly a joker (but make it awkward lol).

My strengths are my confidence, my carefree attitude, and my need to help everyone.

My weaknesses are me procrastinating (I always get it done though), being too sarcastic, trying to help everyone, pushing myself too much, and I’m a little insecure.

My biggest dealbreakers are yelling (can be a reason and talked out) or hitting me for no reason. Don’t have any big pet peeves except not giving me any attention or making at least some time for me. Also

Now for the traits I find attractive. I honestly find many traits attractive. I like outgoing personalities but I’m also fine with someone that’s quiet. I do float towards more outgoing though. I like someone that likes to have fun with people but also likes to have moments just between us. I’m also attracted to someone who would take the time to just say hi to someone (some people need just a single hi and it could brighten their day).

I like to draw, cooking, dance, stargaze, sing (a little), play puzzle games, compete in games, play games with friends/spend time with them, and spend some time to myself to recharge/take a nap lol.

I’m a fan of any clothing that could bring out my figure but I also just like clothes I could lounge in. I love chocolate but I’m not crazy about fruity candy. I love rice, like any form. I love cats, taking naps and going outside just to feel the air but I can’t stand the heat or the stems of broccoli and celery (it has the same weird stringy texture as the stem of broccoli)

Yeah I guess that’s all lol.

Ohohoho~ alright so you had a whole score of skellys that would work for you! So I had a good number to pick from. After spinning the wheel (minus rhythm) you got…. ARWIN!! Arwin is drakefell papyrus if you don’t know him!

Arwin is super outgoing and a very friendly fellow! He’s got that charisma that makes others want to be around him, so he’s rarely alone. But thankfully he’s the type to be thoughtful enough to prioritize his SO if he ever had one!

You like dirty jokes? So does arwin! Unfortunately for you he’s not easy to fluster, you’ll be the one blushing more in this relationship lol.

One of Arwins favorite things to do is dance! He’s a big fan of raves and parties, and he’s quite good at moving those hips! His favorite way to dance with his SO is to have them sit on his shoulders and wave their arms around while he does the same lol. He’s pretty tall so it’s a funny sight. Hope you aren’t scared of hieghts!

However there’s one thing you should know. NEVER enter a competition with arwin. You can totally compete against him, but don’t be his partner in a competition. This man will not hold back or wait for his partners lol.

Deltarune Stuff I Think Might Happen Before the Next Chapters Come Out (so I can say I was right)

Papyrus is the Knight. (I have a whole essay on this I just haven't edited it yet).

Gaster won't be evil, but he will be an antagonist at some point.

Gaster will probably make an appearance in Chapter 6, maybe in the Bunker.

Noelle is the angel.

Every Undertale main character will go to a Dark World, except maybe Alphys and probably Mettaton (Unless the whole town turns into a Dark World).

My reasoning is that Toriel, Asgore and Asirel are so obviously important, Toriel is already in a Dark World, Undyne is most likely coming along for the ride, and Sans and Papyrus are connected to Gaster and also Noelle and Dess through Snowdin and the weird bonus content for the Xbox version of Undertale.

Sans will die in the Weird Route, giving us an actual "No Mercy" Papyrus battle.

(I know this sounds edgy but like...Sans is the ONLY main character who doesn't die unless it's a No Mercy Route, mad sus).

Nightmare Knight will be used in some way for the Knight's theme.

Megalo Strike Back will make an appearance, possibly in whatever potential Gaster battle track we get.

Dess has more to do with the secret bosses than we think.

Dess is trapped in a NEO Dark World and/or the Depths.

The Secret Boss Soul Modes are based off the colors behind Sweet Capn' Cakes in the room where you can make them play their Jingle Bells remix.

Asriel is to Dess as Kris is to Noelle.

Gaster is 666, Chara is 999, Papyrus is 333. (I don't remember what the 3's stand for but there was a reason, or if this even matters in context to Deltarune).

Spade King will have an arc dependent on if you manage to recruit everyone, though I don't know if it will mean redemption. I've seen people get really mad at this idea and honestly? As long as it's a sensitive portrayal and has him apologize to Lancer and do better going forwards I'll be fine with it. I only really think this might be true because of how he is in Chapter 2, and that it would be weird to have the only guy actually criticizing you for your actions to be just straight up an evil guy you can ignore. Also, abusers are people too, and fandom spaces have a really hard time accepting that forgiving and growing is just as realistic as cutting the abusive person off. (shout out to @nukedimplosion for putting this into way better words than I could).

And now, for how I think the message of the game will present itself...

The game likes to tell you your choices don't matter right off the bat. I have a hard time believing the "No one can choose who they are in this world" person to be the same guy who was so nice about our "WONDERFUL CREATION," so I'm going to assume there are two different people talking to us.

I think this other person could be Dess.

Gaster, who has survived despite being shattered across space and time, Gaster, who has managed to connect with us, the real world, is ultimately someone who wants to change fate. Pushing and pushing until he gets the result he wants. I think Gaster believes that our choices mean everything. Why else would he gives us a character creator of all things?

But the other voice...

They do not believe in choices. They've been stuck in this pit of nothing, forced to keep going knowing everyone they love is living on without them. They most likely know about the secrets of this world now, having spent so long in its depths. Dess takes away the character creator, forcing you into Kris's body because she didn't get to choose. But some part of her, deep, deep down, wants to believe she still has a choice. So, she put us in someone who has even a slight chance to Find Her.

Someone who remembers the day she disappeared.

Someone who remembers the Bunker. Noelle isn't any help, no matter how much she misses her. Noelle blocks everything out. Asriel is out of town.

It has to be Kris.

It has to be.

And on the other hand, Gaster is optimistic, but some part of him realizes that this could all be for nought too. I think it would be really cool if we have an optimist desperate for freedom, and a pessimist who won't let herself believe in a way out.

(To clarify, I realize this has little to no evidence to back it up, it's just using what we DO have and filling in the blanks with the vibes I get from the characters. Like, I do genuinely believe Gaster likes us and the world of Deltarune. I don't think he's evil or anything. With the tiny bit of info we have on Dess, she seemed like a protective but fun older sister. I think she would feel ashamed for not being able to take care of Noelle while she's stuck, and after having been a very assertive person in her life, feeling hopeless when faced with the seemingly impossible to escape depths for years. Of course, I could be wrong, and she actually has some sick plans for the future or something, and Gaster could be more malicious than he seems. But who knows?)

Oh, and before I get someone asking why Papyrus would overthrow the three kings, every Knight candidate needs a reason to do this, and none of them make sense until we get more context. Another thing: all of the Knight candidates that seem possible either haven't been seen yet or are side content. (Or are Kris. And. I have so many reasons why I don't think they're the Knight. At least, not THE Knight). It's very likely that any of them could be built up in the next couple chapters.

Heck, I think we might see them in Chapter 3, curious as to why a new Dark Fountain has been opened. It would be a neat way to introduce them to the group, being in someone else's Dark World, where they're not fully in control. We would also get to see how they'd act towards the Darkeners of Kris's Dark World. We would be able to get some of their personality, without them being the main focus. At the very least, I think we'll get more hints so they will actually be a satisfying reveal with what we're given. Though, this might result in too many characters...hmm...

Anyway, I think that's it.

I might come back to this if I have more, and depending on how the 14th goes, we might have some new stuff to theorize over.

...but nobody came.

Man. So many characters in these games have major abandonment issues.

Flowey with "nobody came", which the Echo Flower dialogue confirms is him speaking from experience, feeling like Toriel forgot all about him, or worse, was glad to be rid of him.

Spade King saying the Lightners left the Darkners behind and forgot all about them.

Jevil being locked up and having no one to play with.

Spamton saying he was left to rot at the bottom of a dumpster.

Susie telling Kris in the "New Girl" post that someday someone would take Kris away and Toriel would forget all about them, or even be glad to be rid of them. Susie is definitely transferring her experiences onto Kris.

We don't know what Kris said to Susie in "New Girl", but one theory is "I know," or "Good." While this is only a fan theory (and one I don't agree with), it is worth noting that "...but nobody came" also appears in Snowgrave Spamton Neo whenever Kris calls for help.

Gaster was lost in the void, shattered across space and time. And now no one remembers him, except for his followers, who can't even speak about him directly without fear. (I'm including Jevil and Spamton as Gaster followers- they certainly came in contact with him.) This is just my own headcanon, but I often imagine Gaster waking up in the void, and his first thoughts being, "Where am I? It's so dark, and so cold," screaming, crying, begging for help... but nobody came.

For each of these characters, even if the exact dialogue isn't used, they all have an aura about them of "...but nobody came." All of them have at some point felt alone, trapped, and helpless, and nobody came to their rescue. Granted, this hasn't been positively confirmed for Susie, but given that she almost quotes Flowey when she screams at Kris, it's easy to deduce that she also had a "...but nobody came" time in her life.

And so many other characters face rejection or abandonment, as well. Toriel divorced Asgore in both timelines, leaving him desperate to see his children and his wife again. Shyren lost her voice when Shyra fell down. Maddie and Mettaton both ran off to fuse with their own bodies, leaving Napstablook alone. No one can remember Ruins Dummy's name. Mettaton was Alphys' friend until he became a big... heh, sorry, I almost said "big shot" (fitting, tho, isn't it?). So Alphys felt abandoned until she met Undyne... and then if you kill Undyne, Alphys disappears, apparently having committed suicide. Snowy left home because his mother fell down and his father hated his jokes, so Snowy felt abandoned. Ralsei is described as "the lonely prince." All of the Darkners feel abandoned by the Lightners. Queen divorced Spade King because he neglected her. Spade King pushes Lancer away- or, possibly, outright abuses him- so Lancer calls Rouxls his "Lesser Dad," even though Rouxls largely pushes him away, as well. Papyrus...

"Forgettable." Still striving for a double-digit follower count on Undernet. Can't get into the Royal Guard. Works himself to the bone but can't get any recognition, much less a friend. May have "left home due to happiness." And most important, has a brother who is willing to avenge his death.

Everyone loves Papyrus. Everyone knows his name. More people talk about Papyrus than about his brother. holidaygirl1225 is asking everyone if they know how to find his egg again. Undyne is Papyrus' best friend. Alphys thinks his posts on Undernet are hilarious. The biggest differences in the ending for neutral runs fixate on whether you spared him or killed him. He even becomes king if he's the only one left alive. Why does Chara call him "Forgettable"? Why does he not think he has any friends? It's honestly a bit like Susie saying, "Why would anybody really wanna be my friend, anyway?" Except that he never lets himself say exactly that- but his whole attitude of "I can't make any friends, I have to work hard for people to like me" says it all.

It's like he does have an abandonment issue, but he's not giving in to it. Did he... Was he... was sans the only one who ever came when he called? Is that why these two are inseparable?

Much as I would like to leave this essay on this dramatic note about everyone's favorite skeleton, I also want to mention Dess. Most people believe that Dess is the one singing, "Don't forget, I'm with you in the dark." This feels like the exact opposite of "...but nobody came." How is she holding onto hope? Even though a lot of people miss her, nobody's looking for her anymore. They've all moved on. All except... her sister. Can Dess see Noelle searching for her? Who exactly is with Dess in the dark, anyway? The player, I presume, but could it be someone else?

As skeleton is chilling in his garden, a random man digs a hole in the lawn, looks around, apologizes because he got the wrong garden, then disappears back into the hole, all of this in two minutes. Reaction?

Undertale Sans - Uh. He tells the man there's no problem, and doesn't move from where he is, just taking a bath sun. He should probably be concerned that he thinks it's perfectly normal, but it's too much work. He puts back his sunglasses and goes back to snore.

Undertale Papyrus - Wait, it's legal to dig tunnels on the Surface? Nobody told him that! He waited his whole life to dig tunnels! He runs to his shed to grab a shovel and starts digging a tunnel to Undyne's house.

Underswap Sans - He's not too happy about a random stranger intruding his yard, but... At the same time... Free tunnel, dude! He jumps head first in it and starts to crawl, laughing like a gremlin to see where it's going. Blue loves too much rolling in the mud.

Underswap Papyrus - He doesn't feel safe. He goes back inside and starts to block all the doors, just in case. He doesn't like that random people can enter his yard when he doesn't pay attention. That's creepy. He also calls his brother for advice only to watch in despair as Blue jumps into the hole to find who's digging...

Underfell Sans - He's not happy. Wrong or not, the guy is not getting out like this. He makes a tiny blaster and sends it into the hole, and then he shoots. He's very satisfied to hear the man screams in agony. Also, there's now a huge crack in the yard and the house floor and Edge is going to kill him. First, he attacks, then he thinks about the consequences...

Underfell Papyrus - Like hell they're getting away. Edge doesn't care he's too big for the hole, he's crawling after the guy. Or at least, he tries. After like three minutes he realizes he can't crawl further, but that he also can't crawl backwards... He hates he has to call Undyne for help. Undyne who will just hits him "accidentally" with her shovel again and again just because he can't move and she thinks it's funny. If he sees that man again, they're dead.

Horrortale Sans - The man meets with Oak, on all fours, growling angrily, his big eye staring at him. The man decides it's best to retreat and slowly disappear inside the hole. Oak attacks, angry, and starts to dig to get them, but after like two minutes he gets tired, collapses head-first in the hole, and decides to sleep there lol. He even gets lectured by his brother who thinks he's the one who made the hole.

Horrortale Papyrus - Oh hell no you don't leave. He uses his very long arms to grab the man by the ankles and drags him out by the feet. You're not leaving before he lectures you for entering his yard illegally! What do you think this place is? A zoo?

Swapfell Sans - He grabs a huge rock instinctively and, screaming the aliens are attacking, smashes the guy on the head a good thirty times before realizing that it's actually a human and that... Well, he's dead now. Oh well.... He's already in a hole in the ground, so he just pushes it back and buries him there.

Swapfell Papyrus - The man is staring at him in shock. Rus is staring back. "Are you a martian?" "sure am, bud. wants me to make a martian noise?" "Please, yes! I waited for this all my life!" Rus rolls on the ground, making the 200 rubber chickens hiding in his jacket scream in agony. Thanks to Rus, the man is sure he's on Mars and that Rus is some sort of local alien. Rus thinks it's too funny and plays along. The guy is so disappointed when a random human walks in front of the house he goes back into his hole to cry.

Fellswap Gold Sans - When the man gets out, he finds a gun pointing at his head. Wine just says "NO." and the man, scared, quickly retreats back into the hole and crawls away in fear. Wine blocks the way with a few big rocks and goes back to whatever he was doing before this.

Fellswap Gold Papyrus - He was watering the flowers when suddenly one flower transformed into a grown-up random human. Coffee is speechless. And terrified. Are all the flowers transformed into humans? Well, that's terrifying and he hates this. He throws his watering can at the man's head and runs inside, screaming for help.

hello my dearest maiden ~ i have a scenario that i would like to share. warning can be suggestive 👀👀

so picture this, its a hot day so our dear skele boys and MC decide to go to the beach for some fun and to cool down a bit. then they decide to go swimming! duh! MC suggests that they should play Chicken fight (the one where you sit on someone else's shoulder and push the other team down).

how would they react if MC sat on their shoulder and/or how would they react if she sat on someone else??

(bonus points this event took place when all the guys had crushes on her cause yknow i love drama, extra extra bonus if MC has thick thighsss)

Sans His Shoulders - He’s more confused about how he got roped into all this before becoming extremely flustered. This might come across as uncomfortable but only because he has no idea what to do or how this happened.

Someone Else - Actually prefers this, there is a nice view from the side of the game and he thinks you’ll both have more fun this way. Plus he’s not in danger of getting flustered and embarrassing himself.

Papyrus His Shoulders - He’s just very excited about the game and doesn’t think too much about it. It just seems like a fun idea to him and he’s always up for doing fun activities. He’s a great partner and has no problem lifting you up, the two of you dominate the game easily. 

Someone Else - He really doesn’t mind as it’s just a game. As long as everyone is having fun he isn’t going to throw a fuss although he does manage to get in your good books by cheering you up when you lose a round and hit the water pretty hard. 

Red His Shoulders - He has no idea how he was lucky enough to be paired with you but he isn’t going to complain about it. He will make several inappropriate jokes and take the opportunity to grope your ass claiming his hand simply slipped. He is very much enjoying himself

Someone Else - He’s going to grumble about it but actually doesn’t do much. He wouldn’t want to be on his team either so it’s fine. He tries to convince himself that it’s just a game and for fun and after a while he starts to believe it and enjoy his time. 

Edge His Shoulders - He gets very quiet but does play alone. Really he’s trying not to show how excited he is but everyone else can see him blushing that he gets to be so close to you. He is a perfect gentleman for the whole game and the two of you do pretty well even if he does get distracted a few times by how soft your thighs are. 

Someone Else - He will huff about it but at the end of the day you choose who you wanted to be partnered  so he won't make a big deal out of it. In fact he becomes very focused on the game and makes it very fun for you. 

Blue His Shoulders - he is so excited and pumped. Declaring that the two of you will be the best partners ever and you'll destroy the other teams. His hand may slip a few times but with his sincere apologies you're sure it was an accident. Of course the others don't miss his smirk or blue tinted cheek bones. 

Someone Else - he might pout a bit hearing your choice but he won't let it show for to long. Instead choosing to sabotage your partner any subtle way he can think of. Look if he can't be partnered with you he's at least going to win. 

Orange His Shoulders - Heck yes, he is so excited. He loves the feeling of your thighs wrapped around his skill and he wants this moment to last forever. After a while though he sort of forgets about the position as his competitive side takes over and he gets really into the game. 

Someone Else - He’s pissed that you’re on someone else’s shoulders, he has a bit of a jealous streak which he is trying to work on but it’s still pretty obvious that he’s upset. He may have blackmail on all of the other skeletons though and might just use it to trade places UNLESS he is the one fighting you then his competitive side takes over and all he wants is to crush you. 

Berry His Shoulders - Is super embarrassed. He doesn’t want you to pick anyone else but being this ‘intimate’ in public is very much throwing him off. Even though you're not being intimate at all technically. He forces himself into work mode and is uncharacteristically quiet as he tries to focus on the game and not how good your thighs feel. 

Someone Else - You know he will verbally tell everyone just how upset he is about your decision although will also refuse to be your partner if you offer to swap, denying that he wants to be your partner. He does end up playing but is mad about it the whole time. 

Syrup His Shoulders - This is his heaven. Even if it annoys his brother there is no way in hell that he is giving up this opportunity. Having you this close to him with your bare skin is driving him crazy. His hands slightly dig into your thighs as he holds you in place. He won’t be concentrating to much on the game

Someone Else - He’s a bit disappointed although will try not to let this show and just get on with the game even if he doesn’t really want to play. He won’t sabotage anyone but he does plan to get you alone after the game.
