so how do i tell my sister that since the last time she saw me i've become chronically ill and have had to change how i live my day to day life and i am no longer functionally the same sister she has known her entire life and that will impact how i can participate in the weeklong trip we have planned in seven days. any tips.

#shes literally in med school and is a leftist who has gone on impassioned rants abt ableism and medical discrimination to me #and yet when it comes to me she would rather believe that im being lazy/asocial/ignoring her/a bitch than like......#something is physically wrong with me #at christmas i was acutely ill (bad cold) and that on top said chronic illness just wiped me out #and i ended up sleeping most of christmas day bc i literally couldnt get out of bed #i made it out for christmas dinner #but she made some passive aggressive comment abt me ignoring her text she had sent me #when i literally looked like death and everyone knew i was sick #my mom and her boyfriend had to be like.....uh no she looks like she just woke up #but i still stayed out after dinner to make a gingerbread house w her like she wanted in her text #(and like i wanted! i WANT to spend time with my family! i WANT to hang out with her! i love her! shes so much fun!!)#sigh...we planned this trip over thanksgiving when i wasnt like this #her bf is coming thank god so she can drag him to a million billion places from 5 am to midnight without me holding her back #mel talks

“are the girls going to help you make pierogis?” well no one else is fucking gonna are they? no one else in this house has functional fucking hands apparently

#every Christmas i think about the time we came home from mass and my father said “finally! now we can relax.” and sat down at his computer #and played video games for the next three hours while my mother and sister and i stood six feet away from him in the kitchen making #200 pierogis.#it’s crazy considering the amount of stuff he gets done for him on a daily basis that I would never even think would be done for me by anyo #like bed made for him/all meals/all dishes/food put on his plate for him because he refuses to do it himself/pretty much all errands #whenever he wants tea he just says that want out loud and it gets brought to him by magic #i mean or anything else! he once said “did you say we were having cappuccinos today?” just to no one in particular and we all knew no one h #had said anything of the sort. and then he was given one!#of course he goes to work from 8-6ish every day but other than one day a week it’s remote and has been for years and i can hear him #he is pretty much never not on the phone gossiping with someone #and i don’t begrudge him having a not physically intensive job or anything but im just trying to think of the things he has to do #he makes my mother mow the lawn. i do it when i am home because i think that’s disgraceful.#if my mother begs hard enough he'll do the least amount of yard work possible if it’s something we can’t physically do by ourselves.#but on a daily basis it’s just go to work/eat the breakfast brought to you/eat the lunch brought to you/come downstairs eat the dinner made #for you/play video games until you go to bed in the bed that was made for you in the morning #and on non work days it’s just eat/video games/bed #and like all this to say #he complains more and has a worse attitude than anyone I have ever known in my life #whenever he encounters a minor inconvenience he's talking about how it never ends and he never gets a chance to rest for once #literally any day that’s not spent in complete and total stagnation is considered a failure #he hates when my mother and sister and i are happy like we can’t even play music and laugh in the kitchen while we cook and clean up after #meals because it distracts him from his video games and his YouTube videos about video games and the war in Ukraine #he gets mad when we laugh too much lol like dude you’re pretty lucky you have daughters who can have fun while doing the dishes #considering you haven’t done them in like 20 years #word to the ladies out there btw: my parents used to clean up after dinner together when they first got married. so watch out lmao

Didn't feel much up to drawing, which is bad because I HAVEN'T STARTED YET. Ugh. ;_;

#song of the day #did I ever tell y'all that around the end of September / beginning of October I went through and listened to every Brooks & Dunn song?#every non-Christmas song at least. full non-holiday-special discography #several times as I went through I found a song I didn't think I recognized and then when I started playing it I knew the words #this is one of them!#it's off their 2001 album 'Steers & Stripes' which--this was an odd thing to realize when I first saw it #y'all know that post that's like '9/11 didn't actually start the US nationalism. there's a reason 9/11 happened in 2001'?#Steers & Stripes came out in April of 2001 and the song 'Only in America' was already on it #(and also you know. the album is called 'Steers & Stripes'. a little embarrassing frankly)#an interesting marker in tracking the shift in country music from 'love my home and people; hate The Man' to only 'love My Country'#anyway I think I got just enough time with the song before 9/11 for it to be familiar once I heard it again this October #but it didn't get enough air time after 9/11 for me to recognize it before the music started up #a shame really because I do like it #anyway it's the song of the day because I was singing it while I made dinner and then I burnt my finger halfway through the song #and broke off for a really undignified yelp and scared the cat :( poor Thomas

#what is real #does it mean having thing that buzz inside you and a stickout handle?#real jdnt how you are made #its a thing #that happens to you. when a child loves you for a really long time #not just to play with but really loves you then you become real #does it hurt?#sometimes #when you sre real you dont mind being hurt.#does it happen all at once like being wound up?#said the skin horse.#the velveteen rabbit #imma type the book until i run out of characters just to prove i have it memorized #here was a velveteen rabbit and in the beginning he was very splendid. he was fat and bunchy as a rabbit should be his coat was spotted bro #wn and white he had real thread whiskers and his ears were lined with pink satin. on christmas morning when he sat wedged in the top of the #boy's stocking with a sprig of holly between his paws #the effect was charming. there were other things in the stocking: nuts and oranges and a toy engine and chocolate almonds and a clockwork m #ouse but the rabbit was quite the best of all. for at least two hours the boy loved him #and then aunts and uncles came to dinner and there was a great rustling of tissue paper and unwrapping of parcels and in the excitement of #looking at all the new presents the velveteen rabbit was forgotton. christmas morning: for a long time he lived in the toy cupoard or on th #e nursery floor and noone thought very much abiut him. he was naturally shy and being only made of velveteen some of the more expensice toy #s quite snubbed him. the mechanicsl toys were very superior and looked doen on everyone else they were full of modern ideas and pretended #they were real. the model boat who had lived through two seasons and lost most of his paint caught the tone from them and never missed an o #pportunity to refer to his rigging in technical terms. the rabbit could not claim to be a model of anything for he didnt know that real rab #bits existed. he thought they were all stuffed with sawdust like himself and he understood thag sawdust was quite out of date and should ne #ver be mentioned in modern circles. even timithy the jointed wooded lion who was made by the disabled soldiers and should have had broader #views put on airs and pretended he was connected with government. between them all the poor little rabbit was made to feel himself very ins #ignificant and commonplace and the onlt person who was kind to him at all was the skin horse. the skin horse had lived longer in the nurser #y than any of the others. he was so old that his brown coat was bald in patches and showed the seams undernwath and most of the hairs in hi #s tail had been pulled out to string bead necklaxes. he was wise for he had seen a long succession of toys arrive to boast and swagger and

#selfie #i can tell you something about every one of these #the sushi was like a spicy deluxe type. i bought it bc I had never seen that fancy packaging before #pictures 2 and 9 are both $5 schnitzel and chips. back when they were $5 not $7 #god it's such a great deal. and it's so delicious #third pic is either Christmas or easter dinner. ham and potato salad and red salad #which is made with baked beans onion pickles sauerkraut potato and beetroot #it ties together really well #fourth pic is a satay chicken roll I got from a restaurant that closed down like a week later without warning #those are whole-ass peanuts btw. I remember this so well bc it was during my internship which was during my first year of tafe #the fifth picture is spicy ramen out if a packet. and when I say spicy I mean fucking SPICY #as in tears-streaming-down-my-face spicy #pic six is a steak my mum made me #the seventh picture is a mexican schnitzel. it's avocado sweet chilli sauce and cheese on top of a schnitzel and topped w jalapenos #the salad next to it is leafy greens with julienned carrots #picture eight is a pub schnitzel with just the richest gravy. so dark and savory and delicious bwaaaaah #picture ten is a takeaway schnitzel I got from a local pizza place/italian kitchen. it's notable because the schnitzel itself was bland #like it didn't taste like anything. it was bizarre #the dish on the left is called the [franchise name] hero. it's garlic bread topped with spicy salami and cheese

#anyway christmas went over well #went to the hospital four times made a terrible experience and a good one #my mom got diagnosed with a chronic lung disease though and she'll likely need an oxygen tank so that was a bit of a slap in the face tho #burnt a cake i had to bake for her guests and added too much salt when making their dinner but #overall it worked out somehow #the past days felt like i was on autopilot ngl #but the holidays are over now and people are leaving town and i don't need to deliver any more bags to the hospital #and i should have the house back to myself soon #so it's hopefully back to normal tomorrow or on tuesday #this year really decided to go out with a bang i guess

this week me n Books got dressed up and went to a slightly famous fun new restaurant,* the next day we stayed in for a cozy movie night,** and the next we met their mom for dinner.*** it’s almost like we’re building a life together or something****

#also got absolutely railed on my birthday godbless #actually we had sex every night i was at their place this week which is. a lot bc we be fuckin for hours #it's great but whew that's a lot of time! ya girl has been sleepy as hell #* canje atx- it was fun and i would recommend it but i probably wouldn't go again #each thing we ate was good (except i hated Books' drink and they did not like the (v mustardy) callaloo) but most dishes weren't balanced #and they didn't present them in a way that made a lot of sense (i've been to one of the owners' other restaurants and it was similar there)#it was also unbelievably loud in the restaurant which would have been very unpleasant but it was fine being there with Books #like it was a bummer bc they had just finished the first ep of black sails and i'd just finished the first book in their favorite series #so we were both psyched for a good conversation over dinner but! not possible!#but we still had fun bc they're the only person on earth i could just look at and not talk to for an hour and a half #ANYWAY the appetizers did absolutely fuck we had a little tropical fruit salad and saltfish fritter and they were bomb #and i looked Cute in my little black dress with my new leg tattoo #** we had never done a movie night in before?? we've gone to the theater and we've watched tv at home but #hadn't done a full on lights out cozy blankets quietly stare at the screen for two hours before. it was great #*** my first time meeting a Mom and it was weird and scary and awk bc they aren't out to her so i had to use the wrong pronouns for them #but i survived. and they aren't super close for complicated reasons so it won't be a regular thing but. it was okay.#**** i spent christmas AND my birthday with them and #ok they're in school right this is currently their first semester of college #and they mentioned to their mom that they might be transferring/moving before they finish #that was my first time hearing that so i brought it up later like hey what did you mean by that where are you planning on going?#and they were basically like. if you pick a state i'll pick a school there #like it is time for me to start applying for jobs and i had been planning on bringing up this slight possibility with them but #i decided to wait until next week or later bc i didn't want them to feel obligated to say what i want to hear bc of my birthday #but they brought it up. because as usual we are very much on the same page #i don't even particularly WANT to move out of state right now but #to know that i wouldn't have to make the hard decision between them and my career? gosh #they're so good #i'm so glad i kept an open mind when my friend offered to set me up with someone the exact opposite of what i was looking for lmao #remember after that weekend i had those two first dates and i was like idk ab this Bookstore one... l m a o i was a fool!#now i am still a fool just in a different way
