There’s dead silence at the table right now. Not awkward, or full of tension - just comfortable silence as all the TWICE members sat there, on their phones.

“Guys, I’m clearly the top in the relationship, right?” Nayeon very suddenly says, which made at least two of them choke on their drinks. Well, now all the looks were on her.

What a strange thing to say, out of the blue.

Chaeyoung cuts them off before any of the two can say any more. “Shut it! She might be, she might not.”

Both Jeongyeon and Nayeon grumble.

“Well, let’s ask Sana. She’s Nayeon’s girlfriend, after all,” Momo stated, and suddenly all eyes were on Sana.

She didn’t really know what to say - not right now, at least - the pressure of all members staring expectantly at her didn’t really help. “... What?”

“Well? Nayeon’s a fucking bottom, ri-” Nayeon groans. “Shut up!” she interjected.

“I mean… Maybe.” Sana holds back a grin and leans in her seat, putting on a nonchalant cover. Only to tease Nayeon - what else? - and it seemed to work. 

“Hey!” She whined.

Chuckles were heard from pretty much everyone in the room.

“There’s still a chance, though. I feel like they could both be switches. It’s… none of my business, though. That’s all I have to say,” Tzuyu noted quietly. “The impossible is possible.”

There was a small moment of silence, and Nayeon smirked. “See? Someone agrees.”

“I never said I agreed, Unnie.”

Her smirk instantly faded. “Wha-”

“Heyy, look at the time. I’m hungry. Goodbye everyone!” Dahyun laughs nervously and scurries off before anyone can stop her. Seems like the tension was too much for her to handle second-hand. Chaeyoung decided to go after her, not saying anything else.

Sana looks around at the others. Is this a scenario where everyone just leaves suddenly, and only her and Nayeon are left? No way, that would be too pr-

“Uh.”

So maybe Sana was wrong.

It wasn’t long until Nayeon was bent over the table, squirming and whining underneath Sana. Yeah, the table was probably not the best place to do this, honestly. But she couldn’t resist the urge to just push her over right there and then and show her who’s really the top in this. Nayeon couldn’t resist Sana. Is anyone really surprised?

As Nayeon holds onto the table for dear life, she grinds her hips back against Sana - or Sana’s hand, in this case - and moans quietly.

Sana finds this a bit amusing.

“What happened to this whole I’m the top attitude from barely five minutes ago?” She laughed, curling her fingers at the spot Sana knew would make her arch her back like a cat.

And that was the exact reaction she got, as well. Nayeon cursed under her breath, tilting her head back.

“I didn’t-” she trails off.

“You can’t even finish your sentence properly. You couldn’t top me if you tried, admit it. Just look at how you’re grinding against me for more - you’re so desperate.” Sana’s words really didn’t help Nayeon in any way. If anything, it made her crave for even more now.

she couldn’t relax no matter what, and soon she found herself crying while she was coloring. her tears fell onto the paper, making her cry even more. she threw the markers and shoved her face into her pillow, sobbing until she heard the door open.

“what’s wrong jihyo?? i heard you crying from all the way in the kitchen” she immediately recognized the voice to be nayeon’s. “mommy..” jihyo kept her face shoved in the pillow, feeling bad about crying so loudly. nayeon sat down next to her, patting her back, “are you feeling little today?” she asked endearingly.

immediately, jeongyeon got up from the couch and went over to the leader that was in nayeon’s arms. she took jihyo from the oldest member and planted her on her hip. “i missed you sweetpea, i heard you want some extra attention?” jeongyeon said with a soft voice, rubbing jihyo’s back. the regressed girl nodded, melting into jeongyeon’s embrace.

it started with the dumb hair change.

well. it wasn’t dumb. it was really, really cute. and that was the problem. 

“our sana is baby sana again!” nayeon squealed, squeezing a fresh-from-the-salon minatozaki in a big hug. “i love this purple on you so much.” 

sana giggled, fully submitting to her unnie’s hug. “thanks, unnie.”

momo also found it cute. “it looks great, sana.” 

“hey, why’s everyone being so nice to me?”  her eyes were round with delighted amusement.

“yeah, momo, i’ve called dibs already,” nayeon stuck her tongue out at her, prompting an eyeroll from the adversary in question. “sana, i ordered your favourite for dinner…”

“oh, no way!”

momo watched nayeon carry sana away to the kitchen. she settled on the couch alone. it was a slow thursday night, and momo didn’t mind the peace and quiet for once.

“hey, where’s sana?” momo shuffled into the living room, having just peeped into all the empty bedrooms. it was a break day for once, but momo didn’t have any particular ideas. that’s usually where sana’s input would come in.

jihyo and jeongyeon were staring sleepily at the television while chaeyoung crocheted quietly on the floor. the three of them blinked up at her.

“i think nayeon unnie took her shopping,” chaeng said, rolling onto her back and squinting at her stitches. “hyundai center.” 

“yeah,” jihyo confirmed. “they asked us if we needed anything, don’t you remember?”

momo pouted slightly, turning to sulk out the room and return to her own. “no…i wasn’t listening…”

the fact was, the past week since that hair day, sana had been nearly nowhere to be found. she had a photoshoot–that was normal of course. she’d gone to her weekly pilates. and they’d seen each other at their regular off–comeback season dance rehearsals. but momo knew sana’s regular schedule, and she hadn’t been around like she normally was, texting momo to join her in the common room or squeezing into her bed when she was bored in evenings. and they hadn’t done a vlive together in ages.

but who had done not one, but two vlives together since then?

sanayeon, of course. momo stifled a disgruntled snort, flopping down on her unmade bed.

(maybe the second one was her fault–they’d extended the offer to join them. but the nerve that they thought to invite momo as an afterthought? didn’t really feel much better.)

anyways, momo could take a hint. was this what they meant by growing apart? had momo gotten that boring to sana? 

nine years, momo mused, staring at the ceiling. it really took nine years, huh? but momo hadn’t grown sick of minatozaki sana at all. on the contrary, she only seemed to miss her more and more.

momo knew she was pitiful. she had to put a foot down on this, once and for all. if sana didn’t want her around, momo would return the sentiment.

“momo!”

her voice caused excitement and then bitterness in one instant. momo stared down at her phone intently as if she hadn’t heard the two members’ late arrival.

“momo, i bought something that i thought would suit you, but if you don’t like it it’s no problem, i’ll take it back,” she set shopping bags down on the couch, digging through one and producing a lumpy pink knit bucket hat. she beamed expectantly at momo, who finally looked up at her. she struggled to maintain a neutral expression, only raising her eyebrows in mild surprise.

she let her friend place the gift on her head. sana laughed in delight, attracting nayeon back to the living room who also found it amusing.

“yah, you were so right, it fits her perfectly!” nayeon jostled sana’s arm as she hurriedly snapped a shot of the hat on momo’s head. “how’d you know momo’s head size?”

“i know everything about momo,” she replied, patting the top of her friend’s new headwear. “do you like it?”

her wide eyes were so brightly confident that momo couldn’t keep up a cold enough facade. she smiled a hesitant smile, nodding gently. “yeah, i like it a lot. thanks, sana.”

maybe the gifter been expecting a little more of a reaction than that, or maybe she really had sensed something was up. her smile hinted concern, and momo felt her own heart squeeze a little with guilt.

“are you okay?” she asked. nayeon looked up from her phone at the question, looking at momo with sudden unnie-concern.

“uh yeah, just tired…” momo got to her feet slowly, glancing at the clock. 9:30, barely bedtime, but the dorm was already quiet. “i think i’m gonna head to bed early today. thanks again, sana-yah. night unnie.” 

“oh, all right.” momo wasn’t sure if she’d imagined the shade of disappointment in her best friend’s voice, or if sana had really paid enough attention to her lame excuse. 

but sana didn’t pursue it further, so momo lay sleepless in the dark until she heard the two of them finally stop giggling and go to bed.

was it working? momo couldn’t be sure. a few days passed like this. she spent time with the others, moped away when sana approached, was quiet around nayeon and definitely hid when the two of them were chattering away. 

“momo?” she’d heard sana call into the common room one afternoon. “i think she’s sleeping,” momo heard dahyun mumble. there was quiet pattering footsteps, and the slow creak of her door opening.

“momo?” sana whispered again. momo turned over in bed silently, but sana wasn’t dumb. quick footsteps began to approach, and before momo realised what was happening, she was squashed by a giggling sana. she wrapped her arms and legs around her over the covers, tugging at her to turn around.

“don’t pretend to sleep, i’m bored!” she whined. momo felt a wave of repressed emotion crash over her all at once, the sudden proximity overwhelming her.

“no, sana,” she said, and cursed her voice for warbling. “i don’t…i don’t want to see you right now.”

there was quiet, and sana lay still next to her.

“i know that. what’s going on, momoring?”

the softness of her tone and the affection in the sound of her nickname finally drew tears to momo’s eyes, falling hard and fast onto her pillowcase. she curled tighter, stifling a sob. so dramatic, she burned with shame. when sana gently tugged on her again, she didn’t resist and lay flat on her back. 

sana sat up, leaning over her. she gathered the sleeve of her sweater and dabbed away the tears. her expression was of nothing but distress, the corners of her own mouth turned down and her lip trembling.

“momo? did i do something? i’m sorry.”

momo’s heart sank further. sweet sana, apologizing before she even knew the charge. what had she done? she hadn’t deserved this.

“are you sick of me?” momo finally spoke, words escaping her in a tearful rush. she took a deep breath, trying to collect herself. bewilderment came across sana’s expression.

“what? of course not. why would you think that?”

“because we haven’t hung out in weeks! and we haven’t done a vlive, and y-you and nayeon have done two and you guys go shopping together and go to cafés and meals together too, and every time we’re around you’re sitting on her and it all started when she liked your new hair but i can tell that y-you—“ she trailed off, devolving into hiccups. she covered her face in embarrassment.

sana sighed softly, holding her cheek. “oh momo.”

“it’s okay…i didn’t want to make you feel bad…i mean, i shouldn’t have. this is stupid. ugh.” 

“i love you. i didn’t mean to make you feel this way,” she murmured, gently prying her friend’s hands away from her face. her expression was of gentle humor, her eyes filled with an affection that momo had missed so badly. “i could never get sick of you, you know that. to be honest, i thought you needed space for some reason, but i thought it was just you being quiet about it. i should’ve figured.” she brushed momo’s bangs out of her eyes. “our momo, so quiet about when she’s hurting.”

momo stifled another tearful hiccup.

“i’m sorry i’m being so silly.”

“what you feel isn’t silly.”

sana looked into her eyes, thinking only for an instant before leaning down and kissing momo on the lips. 

it was only just a fraction of a second, chaste but honey sweet. momo thought she’d floated out of her being for a moment, disbelieving that she hadn’t imagined it.

she realised the two of them were staring at each other’s lips. a light pink dusted sana’s own cheeks now, and when they met each other’s gaze again, her dark pupils, barely visible in the dim of the room, were blown wide. momo knew she probably looked just the same.

sana cracked a smile, wrapping her limbs around momo again and settling into bed next to her. momo instinctively dropped her blanket over the newcomer and buried her nose in the scent of her fancy shampoo. they didn’t need to talk. that was usually how it went for them. momo was one of the few people that sana could fall silent around. 

as the quiet drowsiness of a mid afternoon nap settled over them, momo felt her heart rest easier to the rhythm of her favourite person’s familiar breathing. things were okay.

I’m feeling suayeon today, so we’ll go with that

Sua is Siyeon’s puppy, but she gets more than a bit bratty at times, so Siyeon is constantly having to punish her

Despite that, Sua feels that she should be repaying Siyeon for looking after her, so it’s not uncommon for Siyeon to get home after work to a hot meal and bath ready and waiting for her

If they have days off together (which isn’t that common) they go on dates around the city, from carnivals to festivals to movies, even just a day at the park

Siyeon - being very high up in her company - definitely makes more money than Sua - a waitress - but she never lets her feel bad about it

Siyeon lets Sua pay for anything, but she doesn’t flaunt it - instead she does something to distract Sua while she pays

Sua knows what she’s doing, and doesn’t like it, but at the same time, she appreciates it nonetheless

It’s everything Tzuyu’s ever wanted in a first date, and she’s so sad that it won’t ever happen again once Jihyo sees how poor Tzuyu actually is and realizes how out of her league she is

At the end of the night, Jihyo drives Tzuyu home, seeing that the apartment she lives in barely qualifies as liveable

She wants desperately to just take Tzuyu home to spoil her properly, but everything she’s ever heard about people who aren’t well off tells her it wouldn’t go over well, and would probably drive Tzuyu away

Instead she calmly asks if she can see her again, ignoring the state of her home

Tzuyu’s shocked, to say the least, but agrees eagerly, so happy to know that Jihyo still likes her

Jihyo - over the course of several dates - slowly starts to spoil Tzuyu, buying her everything she could ever want

Tzuyu loves the attention, loves the pretty gifts, loves the way Jihyo makes her feel, like she’s the only person Jihyo sees
