some more TOUCHSTARVED thoughts regarding milou, let's all thank pyx for making that one post and giving me this idea ...
first of all some context, welcome to esther's "i make my own canon if no one else does it"
i don't know what the heck the senobium's doing, but you can't tell me they don't do shady shit that may or may not involve human experimentation for various research projects. and failed experiments? they just get dumped into lowtown
which leads me to think that this may also be why there's so many soulless / monsters roaming around lowtown's streets. you see, i like to think that there's precautions and proper procedures you have to put in place to prevent the dead from turning into soulless / monsters. due to the amount of corpses they producce (wow that sounds morbid) the senobium obviously can't be bothered to deal with that, hence they just drop all the bodies into lowtown
it still holds true that milou is really loyal to leander and his bloodhounds — but that doesn't change the fact that she has her own ways of dealing with certain situations. after an especially dire period of increased soulless activity, which lead to more dead and therefore more monsters roaming the streets, she took it upon herself to investigate the source of the problem.
which is to say that it's not common knowledge that a lot of soulless don't actually invade lowtown's streets but actually originate from them. it's still true that there's invaders from the outside, therefore everyone just assumed that's where all of them came from
long story; short — milou eventually took it upon herself to become eridia's mortician in order to make sure that proper precautions and procedures are taken for the dead. she is very passionate about showing respect towards them and therefore does not condone the senobium's actions. however, it's also the reason why she's more or less working with them
you see, milou being milou — she's got lots of shit on them and could significantly sabotage their projects and research. not to the point of their downfall obviously, but enough to cause a major disturbance. she used that fact in order to negotiate with the senobium (read: blackmail them into) to have the dead be sent straight to her de facto funeral home. if she's not out working jobs for leander or drinking at the wet wick, that's where she can usually be found
she takes her role very seriously but no one really knows the ins and outs about what she's doing and certainly not that she has an agreement with the senobium — not even leander, and she'd like to keep it that way

Random hcs about Shou in demon slayer verse cuz he rots my brain ;;;;;;;;
Toichiro, Shou's father, was a slayer who made it up to the Hashira's rank, but refused to become one and retired instead, having gained immense doubts in the way the Ubuyashiki clan was leading the demon slayer corps. He established his own training facility, where he can train slayers to be strong enough to have a 100% chance of surviving the Final Selection, either that or make sure that they never become demon slayers in the first place.
In his eyes he was doing something noble, saving lives from being carelessly wasted with every Final Selection, but the error was in his ways, his training was literal hell, you either survive to become a demon slayer, or live the rest of your life with a broken spirit, something he didn't find a problem with, claiming that there is no other choice but death for those who don't make it through his courses.
He gained supporters, retired slayers, and elder Kinoes, all helped in making his name grow, as he aims to one day overtake the leadership of the slayer corps and make good where Ubuyashiki fell short.
In a world where he was taught to become a user of Thunder Breathing - with techniques that relied heavily on speed - Shou was born with inhumane strength. His muscles had a similar composition to Mitsuri's. He had to eat so much to accommodate, too.
He was one of the youngest on his father's training grounds, that didn't stop Toichiro from placing expectations with the weight of the world upon his shoulders. Shou lived up to them, of course he did, with the cost of sleepless nights and bleeding limbs.
His mother could not fathom the violent and heartless man his father had become, and without a way to save her son, guilt and powerlessness wrecked her to the point she couldn't handle it, she fled from home one night when Shou was 10.
Things deteriorated from then on, Toichiro only grew more distant, harsher and crueler, his methods breaking people more than making them strong enough. A couple years later and many slayers gave up from supporting him and his training, finding it helpless, too hard, almost impossible. Key word being almost, around the same time Toichiro's facility lost its final students, Shou survived the Final Selection, successfully joining the corps, being 13 of age at that time.
Shou never thought twice of why his mother left, and came to the conclusion that some people are just selfish, she did what's best for herself, he didn't hate her for it, he didn't hate his father either, but he couldn't forgive either of them, and missed the way both of them were, in a memory where life was difficult, but he could still rest from fatigue in his mother's embrace, or receive warm words from his father, whether encouragement or guidance.
In a world where people lost, mourned, and moved on to fight; Shou didn't know what to do with his pain. He fought simply because that's all he had ever known.
Shou's skills as a demon slayer aren't that advanced, his body and his breathing style often clash, and he resorts to relying on his sheer strength on a lot of occasions, he hates himself for it, and hopes to find a breathing style that works better with the way he is, which leads to him seeking out elder slayers of different, new techniques, hoping that they would be kind enough to offer him guidance.
Shou doesn't return home after joining the corps, he spends the time between missions either on the road or in Wisteria houses, surviving on his own was taught to him as well, he doesn't find it difficult, but he never liked being on his own.
Shou wears a classic black demon slayer uniform, with a haori, which he took from his mother's abandoned closet before he left on his first mission. It's white, with the ends decorated with purple, red, blue, and pink fall flowers in the Akikusa pattern.

THE USED (2015-2017) LYRIC PROMPTS
@primitiveside: "I see that nothing in your eyes."
Cruise speed set, 12 hours remaining to destination. Han thinks about sleeping on the pilot's chair, but the rumble in his stomach reminds him it's been one full day since his last bite, and there should still be some emergency rations left in the cabinets of the common area.
Walking to the back of the ship and through the rows of seats, Han sees Riddick sitting still in mild contemplation and thinks about the things he's done that led him there, bunking with the man himself.
As he reaches for a bag of self-heating beef curry, he feels a presence behind him and realizes Riddick has followed his steps, now standing in the corner of the room, arms crossed and goggles on his forehead. He side-eyes him just to check and returns to preparing his meal.
Halfway through getting his scrap metal cutlery, Han hears Riddick's cryptic words cut through the silence, and he stops. Although they seemed to be no more than a simple observation, they meant more to him than he let on, and there's nothing he dislikes more than being put in the spotlight (that and getting shot, probably).
He hesitates for a moment before he replies, the cadence of his voice betraying his portrayed ease.
"You've known me for a whole 5 hours, probably made eye contact twice—What makes you think I've got nothing in my eyes?"

i know ! i know . i believe you . -primeguarded
Emmett has already paced the length of the room three times since he began speaking, his mind working with possibilities. Clearly, his last-ditch effort resulted in some degree of success, for this world around him is bustling and thriving, and Emmett can't remember the last time he saw structures standing as tall and pristine as these without severe elemental damage and heavy fortifications to keep anything and everything out.
If his calculations are correct, he is running on borrowed time which he has no conceivable way to estimate, as such a feat has never been attempted before. It is paramount that she believe him, for thereー
@primeguarded's sudden sharp declaration stops him in his tracks and he spins on his heel to face her. He isn't blind to the traces of panic in her expression, so he hastily adds, "Mind you, those are worst-case scenarios I presented! Highly unlikely if all goes well. Which they will! First, I will need to repair the time vehicle, as temporal displacement was rougher on the old thing than I had anticipated." Really, he had calculated a slim chance of success and an even slimmer chance that the car would make the jump in one piece, so this was already a staggering win in his book.
