alias: V birth name: Verona X (gave up her surname when she left home and no longer remembers it) date of birth: september 13, 2050 affiliations: none the lore: feared merc assassin V doesn't have enemies; she has people she wants dead, and then they die. [tbc] the truth: the child of two neglectful night city junkies, verona was on her own from the moment she was born. leaving home at eleven and forced to become a pickpocket to survive, she was hardened early to the cruelty of corps and capitalism. for over ten years, V lived on the streets, before realizing that the city was going to swallow her if she didn't set her sights a little higher. so against her better judgement, she took a revenge job, robbing a maelstrom new recruit named rowen bane. she was caught, but rather than ratting her out, rowen was impressed and took a liking to her. they began a volatile and opportunistic relationship; he passed her name on to his superiors, and verona was contracted out for covert jobs when they needed her. but eventually maelstrom's leader, brick, contacted the thief and demanded she join the gang under threat of violence. in response, verona threatened to release maelstrom secrets; this was the wrong move, and brick made an attempt on her life. deciding NC was too dangerous for her to stay, verona broke for atlanta. altanta was more of the same, and didn't feel like home the way night city did. so verona returned, thinking two years was enough time for maelstrom to have forgotten about her. even so, she took on the alias "V" as a means of protection. while doing a botched thievery gig, V met ex-valentino jackie welles and became his best friend, part of his family, even. they began doing small-time merc jobs, trying to make a name for themselves, before being contacted by one dexter deshawn, a fixer running from a past of his own. the arasaka heist dex planned was a bust; V not only lost her best friend, but gained a brain-overwriting engram – who also happened to be the rockerboy that blew arasaka tower to the ground, none other than johnny silverhand. though their start was rocky, v and johnny quickly came to an understanding, finding closeness and compassion for each other as their personalities melded. eventually, they admitted they'd both die for each other, and that their unique bond was closer to love than either of them had felt before. V fought tooth and nail to save them both, forming alliances along the way that proved both her talent and tact. she went on to find a solution in arasaka's mikoshi, but while moving through the tower discovered johnny's body, intact and perfectly preserved. she eliminated yorinobu arasaka, made a deal with his sister, hanako, and won freedom for both herself and johnny. V is retired now, passing jobs on to her apprentice and adopted little brother, osiris, and dodging calls to take over the afterlife from rogue. you can find her living with johnny and their klepped dalmatian, sam, in a bungalow above the flooded remains of laguna bend.

SIFSTEM PLAYLIST

I got a few suggestions from people, and I have explinations for a lot of the music too BECASUE IM A HUGE MUSIC NERD!!! Below the cut!!

PLAYLIST ORDER

Each section for the Sifstem members is designated by an ISAT origonal song, and in each section is song for that member! There's two exceptions which I'll go over real quick!

Your fault/Last Midnight - First song on the playlist, it's about basicly all the members. It's about a bunch of characters arguing about who's fault it is that everything's gone to shit before blaming it on the witch. And then in Last Midnight the witch goes off on them about it doesn't matter who's to blame, they have to deal with it.

It takes two - Last song on the playlist. Also from Into the Woods, this, by contrast, is about how people change and work together well.

Also some songs I choose off lyrics, others off of just vibes.

Siffrin

Final room (act 5/6) - If there was a good Siffrin theme from ISAT, I think this is it. I like it.

Russian Doll - "Why should I try again?" This was a song reccomended to me a while ago actually, it fits.

Touch - ok this one's a bit mean but, listen, he is so touch starved. This song fits. "Touch, I remember touch, feelings came with touch."

No dogs on the moon! - vibe song! Silly fella song!

Bohemian Rhapsody - one of my favorite songs of all time ever. There's too much to type out, tbh.

Loop

How can you help me, Stardust? - do I even need to say anything?

Absolutely cuckoo - listen to the lyrics. "You might decide I'm a nut \ Give me a week or two to \ go absolutly cuckoo \ then when you see your error \ you can flee in terror" LIKE COME ON

The Future - "I'm worried about the future, ain't fucking with that past shit." Loop is really trying to move on. How could they? They're stuck in their betters shadow, their mind.

A humans touch - this one was by @\jackoboltrades! Very fitting for Loop who still feels they don't deserve love, or that they're just a star, not human, not real.

Rage Awakened - based purely on the loop fight. It's a vibe song but I love this song. Also Lingering Will (the character this theme is for) does have some similarities to Loop, being echoes of the past defeats and wishes.

Haunted - being haunted by past mistakes or just the past in general. Though it has some romantic undertones that I can take or leave

Mal Du Pays

Mal Du Pays - AGAIN do I need to explain anything

Mr. FEAR - "Hello, my name is mr. fear." considering how Mal Du Pays is introduced and how it interacts with Siffrin, well, that line alone makes it an MDP song.

Dark Impetus - Vibe song! Mysterious figure cloaked in dark, too. Lol.

Ghosts - "Maybe the past aint what it cracked up to be \ Maybe I'll find a way to just move on \ Maybe we're all ghosts cause I cant feel the ground \ And all these shades they dont make a sound \ I think there is a God \ I think he hates his job" Do I need to say anything.

Stained, Brutal Calamity - Recomended by a friend! Both vibes but also the lyrics that come later have a MDP vibe. I like it.

Burn My Dread (last battle) - "Tear up your fear \ the end is coming near" Honestly Persona 3 has a vibe that could fit MDP quite well.

Null

I WON'T LET YOU GO HOME - Act 5 Siffrin, someone who's both repressing their own feelings to their family but also doesn't want to let them go, to the point of hurting everyone. Nuff said.

Panoramic Feeling - this and the other Katana Zero songs are here cause, well, Zero fictive, plus has the vibe.

All for now - same song used to fight Ramos. It was this or Full Confession, and this fits more for it's desperate or crazed vibe.

L'impeto Oscuro - This is actually a retrain of Dark Impetus, it's the them of a time traveler who can stop time (Kingdom hearts lore dont worry about it.) This specific mix also included the music for when time is stopped during the fight. It's ruthless, endless.

I'm my own master now - Very heavy and hard and strong and powerful, also! The Lyrics! "Bear the mark of my scars \ Shedding blood underneath the stars"

Labyrinth - Being lost in an endless labarynth of their own mind. Very much like act 5 Siffrin, like Null. Plus, Null is not exactly mentally stable.

Rain on brick - Katana Zero song, it's the menue theme. It's just. . . Vibes.

I think Tumblr needs to know about my dumbass Poppy Playtime AU I literally JUST made today so uhm... Here's the AU I've been hyperfixating on-

This is the first half of the Smiling Critters references (I loved making their designs omg)

Basically to summarize why they are a significant part in this AU:

This is an AU where the Smiling Critters survive, using anything and everything they can to continue to do so. It's a small resistance group (hence the AU name, "RESISTANCE") trying to fight against The Prototype! They still have their dynamics and everything else but they have more freedom to express themselves (hence, the clothes and accessories. And how Kickin' Chicken is wearing two bandana's because yes, he is extra.) AFTER the events of The Hour of Joy. By that time they were like what? 1st-2nd graders considering the experiments that were done? Now they are more like teenagers in this AU since I still follow the plot-line of the actual Poppy Playtime story taking place 10 years later-.

As for how the group works, everybody has their own little role and is in charge of something, they aren't made useless as it is a group based off of teamwork and friendship (despite the casualties.) Here's some of the roles they fall into:

(IF I SEE ANYBODY SEXUALIZE THESE CHARACTERS ISTG. THATS ICKY AND GROSS and I will make sure you get smited by lightning, because even if these guys are aged up THEY ARE STILL MINORS!!!)

Kickin Chicken: The vice president if you will, the leaders right hand man. (Because Dogday is the leader.) He's kind of full of himself but the confidence and pep talks help the team keep motivated, even if he is a bit self-centered

Bobby Bearhug: Assistant to Kickin Chicken (although they have a rivalry.) and also the medic. Is also the one who helps Dogday with anything considering in this AU he still has half of him torn off. (More on Dogday in his own section sometime later)

Hoppy Hopscotch: Basically explores the facility in any area at any time to gather new information on ways to try and get out (all of them are actively looking to escape btw!)

Craftycorn: Maps out stuff (maps, plans, other things) using her drawing abilities, although she also acts as the therapist friend because her art is soothing to others.

Bubba Bubbaphant: THE LITERAL. EMBODIMENT. OF. THE NERD EMOJI. He is a actual know-it-all which can come in handy but that makes him seem like a dick sometimes because of his knowledge.

Picky Piggy: I don't really have anything important to add to her, since I want to keep some of her lore a secret [might be revealed through the ask page I just set up for the AU on my page] HOWEVER she is the chef of the group and is literally the only one that can cook, if anybody else tried they'd all get food poisoning LMAO.

Here's some extra things in this AU that won't go in my other posts about this AU (maybe):

- Catnap is redeemed, but it takes a VERY long time for him to get out of "old habits" as I'm going to word it. (Without spoiling too much of what I have planned.)

- I don't know what to plan for The Prototype yet but I'm talking with a couple of my mutuals on discord so maybe I'll figure it out eventually

- Dogday can normally stand and do other things because of the belts he has, however he can't put them on for too long (for like at max, more than 4 hours a day.) because they will wear into the plush, and he needs to put the belts on tight or they will come loose. He only uses such method when the group goes to hunt for food or similar activities, otherwise, he just uses a wheelchair when in the groups safe environment (the Playhouse!)

- This is going to be a shock to some people, but there is NO player character in this AU, not only is this a what if the Smiling Critters survived, but it's also a what if the player character never returned to Playtime Co.! This does come with some issues, like on how the asks are going to work, but trust me, I got everything taken care of when it comes to that!

- There also isn't really any shipping in this AU at all, I'm focusing on the story/friendship dynamics more than that, so if somehow you were looking for Dogday X Catnap this is, unfortunately not the place for that.

- This AU also has the personal interpretation of Dogday being part of the experiments some of the orphanage kids faced, as I don't really vibe with the idea that Dogday might be a Playtime Co. worker??? I don't know, I'm sticking with my idea for now but I will be keeping a close eye on canon if anything confirms or denies it, and I may adjust the AU accordingly if that's the case.

- Future posts may or may not contain other Poppy Playtime characters but the main focus is the Smiling Critters and The Prototype.

Minerica Eorzea — maintained by @wildfireward, this Compendium was inspired by the Botanica Eorzea and serves as her counterpart. It contains item descriptions of raw materials, item descriptions of gear that use said materials, stats of gear that use said materials, leve quest lore, and crafter quest dialogue.

MISC

Animations for XIV — A spreadsheet created and maintained by Sayo#0196 that contains a list of animations that can be useful for posing purposes.

Transparent Assets for GPOSE — Have you ever wanted to overlay a screenshot with XIV’s assets like ‘this scene cannot be skipped’? @fortunafavore has you covered!

For some reason, the text for the Hingan Alphabet had vanished on its bigger advertisement. It has since been readded! (Don't ask me why it did it, I have no idea.)

COMMUNITIES

With the Tumblr communities in beta, I'm trying to think how to best incorporate them into the Compendium should we get an influx of XIV related ones when the feature goes properly live. While they're currently invite only I won't be adding any (unless community leaders would like to reach out and have them added) but, once they are, I'll either make a separate section in the Compendium for them or sort them between the aforementioned categories as needed. If you have any thoughts, questions or suggestions, please let me know!

Do keep in mind that the feature is in beta, so my thought and categorisations may change as the community feature itself expands. Tumblr may also incorporate a better method of searching/filtering that might make it redundant! We'll have to see.

I want to put my community on the compendium but we have an application process. Is this okay?

Yes! Just note somewhere in your application that's a requirement. The only thing that is mandatory for the Compendium is that you must be open to new members or have a public-facing/accessible facet. There's no point advertising a community if no one can join it in some way!

I want to put my community on the compendium but I only have x number of members —

Also totally okay! People don't start with large communities. Activity is a must but, whether your server has two or two thousand members, if you're looking for new people to join, I'd love to help you find people.

I want to put my community on the compendium but I worry its too niche?

Okay, and? If your Eorzean Fishing Alliance has four members but you roleplay every second weekend, I still want to know about it.

What resources/communities can I add if I'm not the owner of them?

Mutual consent is extremely important to me, so anything that isn't a large-scale community OR a publicly accessible resource must be endorsed by the owner/admin/moderators in order to be added to the compendium. I operate under the assumption that a resource posted to a public space (tumblr, googledocs, youtube, etc) is open to all. A large-scale community is one with a significant member count or openly advertises itself as being accessible to everyone for whatever purpose it serves. If in doubt, please get in touch with me. I'm happy to contact your community owners for you!

How active does a community need to be?

If you find a community has not been active in about two/three months, send me a message and I'll take a look at it. Communities have ebbs and flows, especially event spaces that may take hiatuses depending on member interest/life events. I'm not strict in my implementation provided a space isn't dead. Gubat Banwa solo campaign journal

My tabletop regulars are too busy to fit another campaign in (especially another complex tactics game) so I'm going to try Gubat Banwa alone first. This is both going to be a campaign journal and me documenting my process of going through the book and learning the rules and the world for the first* time. I'm also not very familiar with the cultural background, and a good chunk of what I do know actually comes from following the Gubat Banwa team on social media so I'm exited to dwell more into the lore too.

*I've read an older version of the rulebook, but I've never played it before so most of it hasn't stuck in my memory. So, let's make some characters! I have a few ideas already from looking over the disciplines and thinking about which ones I'd like to play, but I'll make one character using the random tables first. Interestingly, the book makes you roll for your parent's folk and background first, and I like this. It already starts you out with some family connections, even if your parents aren't very detailed, and it's a cool way to use random tables to generate a seed of an idea while still leaving the final choice up to player.

So let's see what we get:

Father: Kawayanon (Bamboofolk), Virbanweño, State Kawal

Mother: Laksaman (Monkeyfolk), Gatusanon, Peasant

Folk has no gameplay benefits and the book encourages to treat them inspirations and not hard classifications, but I think I'll stick with the monkeyfolk I got here. I tossed a coin to decide between the two parent cultures and landed on the Virbanwa Lakanate. Each of the great cultures has a dozen pages dedicated to them, which is good, but also means I've only skimmed these so far - if I can't use the information right away, I won't remember it, so going through them one at a time lets me memorize things better. This is also why I started with the randomized character. Be right back.

The Lakanate section is interesting because they're the faction most directly touched by the invasion of the Pale Kings, they adopted their religion of not!Christianity and parts of their culture, becoming mercantilist and imperialist. Since this is what sets them apart from the other cultures, their background section mostly focuses on the european influence. Not!Christianity doesn't entirely do their faith justice, the descriptions here are very vivid and unique, but I'm trying to keep this short and not just recap the book. Here's an excerpt of what the descriptions are like, from the section about the Pinakalakan, the highest ruler of the Lakanate:

What's more, my dad is a cop it turns out. The State Kawal are enforcers of...well, the state, Kawal seems to mean something like Guard based on how it's used in the rest of the book (it's also the name of a Rajanate discipline). Google translates it as soldier, so my guess was close enough. I didn't plan to start out with a child of imperialist police but this actually works well with one of the other character ideas I had (more on that later).

There's a few more things we need to roll for. Homeland first, I got Provincial, which means I speak Virbanweno and get a worthless item, yey! There are also some skill bonuses, I'll add all those up once I move on to filling in the character sheet. The next roll is social class and I'll skip this one and just pick Middle Class because it makes the most sense with my father. The final roll in the culture section is for keepsakes, I get prayer candles and a leather longcoat.

I'm enjoying the character creation process so far, for a character I had no plans for I already got a lot of ideas from this, but it involves a lot of going back and forth in the book, especially if you follow the order step by step. After rolling for your parents professions on the tables of two different cultures, you then have to pick yours, which could be one of those two or a third one, you go to the life events section, then back to the culture section to get keepsakes and your own profession, then back to the life events. It does make the most logical sense to go through it chronologically like this, but I just rolled for the keepsakes earlier since I was already on the page.

On to the life events:

First life event: You always see a boar in the edges of the forest because your refused to kill one once for consumption.

Second life event: You were part of a different warband. You no longer fight together. One of them has died.

So what we can gather from here is that our character hesitated to kill an animal, and had a fallout with the warband they were originally with. I have to pick or roll for my own profession now, and with all of this in mind, I think my character originally following in their father's footsteps and then deserting during the second life event makes the most sense. This makes the boar event foreshadowing too, [name pending] was always kindhearted so seeing the colonial violence of their warband firsthand made them leave.

Third life event: A traveling blacksmith named Iko with their prentice came by once and made toys for everyone. He gave you an axe, and you’re indebted to him because of it.

Interesting! Don't know what to make of this one honestly, maybe Iko will show up at some point. Now we have to roll/pick a faith but because of the backstory we just established, I'm going to say that they follow the Lakanate's monotheistic religion. The book says you should decide how your Kadungganan reckons with their belief, but given this backstory, I think it works better if they started faltering around the same time they deserted and haven't found a real answer yet. Maybe they'll convert, maybe they'll renew their faith or become an atheist, I like keeping this open ended for now. Finally some free skill points to assign and to recap the character sheet now looks like this

This was honestly a lot and took a while for only doing backstory choices so far but I enjoyed the process a lot, the random tables are really good. Originally I wanted to make 3-4 characters and use the random tables only for the first one, but they are definitively a really good aid. One of the character ideas I had I really want to use now because there will be some fun (for me, not them) drama between them and our unnamed Laksaman here, but I might go the random route for the third one. I also like how the skill points turned out here - the low stats in all the Wisefolk skills and the low Resolve fits nicely with a character who is in the process of questioning their upbringing and hasn't decided on their new place in the world yet.

Discipline next! Kawal is an obvious choice here since that's also their profession, but I think it's a good pick for a few other reasons as well. Kawal is, according to the book, easy to play, and it seems like a good idea to not pick too many complex classes for a game where I'll have to learn all of them at once, from scratch, alone. The Lakanate's disciplines are more complicated by comparison, and I'd like them to be a defensive character, and the Lakanate's Sentinel discipline is. well. they're called Murderglaves. I guess I could make Cecil Final Fantasy IV but I'm not feeling the vibe. Also, the Kawal are a Gatusan discipline, so the discipline choice can tie into their mother's heritage, which hasn't really been relevant at all so far. We're legend 0 so the tactical combat portion of the character sheet really just involves a lot of copying from the rulebook which I'll do later (I don't have a lot of time left rn and I'd rather finish the rest of the decision making before I have to leave). I pick Dranreb Reyes from the provided list of names, he/him pronouns. Conviction is a bit harder to define for a character where I've just leaned hard into them not knowing what their goal is, but I wrote down "Do no harm and let no harm be done". Maybe I'll come up with a better name for it later.

Passions require a bit more thought again, I settled on "All violence must be a last resort. I will find a place to belong. Food is good, feeding others is better." The first one is taken from the list of examples in the book, the second is from the backstory, the third is me deciding that Dranreb is a very passionate cook. He tries to be humble about it, but he does take a lot of pride in any compliments his cooking gets. I still need to do the Rasi/Star Sigils but I'm really out of time now. The Complications I'll do after making the other characters, which will hopefully go a lot quicker.

I like the character I made so far here. I don't think I'll go over the whole process for the others, and after seeing how long this took, I'll only make 2 more for now before setting up the first scenes. idk how quickly I'll update this or if anyone is even interested in reading me stumble through the Sword Isles, but I'm hyped to keep going once I have time.

OOOHHHHH YES YOU SHOULD IF THEY ARE A GENRE YOU ENJOY !! it's half life-sim and half turn-based combat dungeon crawler :) there's also an element of strategy cause you have elemental attacks and some enemies are weak to certain elements, which lets you act more on your turn <3

so !! you can start pretty much anywhere tbh? 1, 2:Innocent Sin & 2: Eternal Punishment (PLAYED IN THAT ORDER) are connected, but 3 4 & 5 are only connected by references to one another. (ie references to naoto from p4 and yukari from p3 show up on the news in p5, and a character is called "the second coming of the detective prince" and naoto was the first detective prince, but it's not stuff you need to know or anything)

so !! p1 and the 2 duology are. Old :) and very different. i'd say do Nyat START there but if you want to play them later on, feel free.

I'd personally say start with either 3 Reload or 5 Royal, just because both of those are the newest ones so they're the easiest to handle. HOWEVER you can also start with 4 Golden :) (you can also play 3 Portable or 3 FES but those are older and clunkier but i love them dearly)

also ! guide to game versions:

Persona 3 - base game p3, on the ps2 Persona 3 FES - "updated" edition of p3, including new personas, a new story segment, and some other QoL stuff, on the ps2 Persona 3 Portable - PSP version of P3, adds the female MC (minako i'll get you outta there) but makes the daytime/life sim sections flat and as i call it, "like a visual novel", but the dungeon is still full 3D, on the PSP, and also now on modern gen :) Notes: P3's dungeon is. annoying. and notoriously Very Grindy. also the bosses in it WILL wreck your shit.........

Persona 4 - base game p4, on the ps2 Persona 4 Golden - the "definitive" edition of P4, adds more to the story (you get a third semester), a new character(?? i think??) and some other QoL stuff, on the ps2 and now modern gen :) i got it on PC :3 Notes: The dungeons in P4 are a little more fun since they all have a unique theme, however they can also be just as annoying and grindy as P3's. tbh i disliked them more than i disliked p3's dungeon but alas

Persona 5 - base game p5, on the ps3 Persona 5 Royal - Updated P5, adds a third semester, more story, more lore to certain characters, NEW CHARACTERS, and a fuckton of QoL stuff. on the ps4 and xbox and pc now i think? Notes: P5R is the newest mainline game (excluding p3re) and is like. One Of The Best. the characters can be a little weak at times but i also adore them deeply :)

Also ! P3 Reload: Remake of Persona 3, makes the dungeon Less Annoying, puts everything in HD, adds more story and stuff, its soooo <3 i put this one separately bc it deserves its own league. also on the ps4+ps5. also xbox and pc i think?

Research: If you wish for me to write a fanfic including specific characters, I will need you to send me details about their personalities and backstories in case I don't know the series. I will do some of my own research, but when I write fanfics I want to give the characters their proper personalities and its better to hear it from someone who knows the series.

Whooo, update time! <3 I've been working on Sera's carrd to get a bunch of stuff added and updated for the last few days, and I've gotten to most of it now I think-

-The phoenix lore has been added where it was most important! I'll be writing up a full page detailing the original mythos/legend in more detail later on, when I have a clearer head, but for now there's details and points to it in various places, along with nods to the fact that, 7 verse with materia or not, Sera is very much a natural with ice and healing abilities as a result of being part of the Snow Phoenix, Aria's, bloodline. How this manifests though varies by verse, with things like 7 requiring materia to help her use any kind of magic, and Genshin Impact verse requiring the use of her cryo vision, and the lore has seen minor tweaks to fit into each setting, detailed in the verse specific misc sections. I have yet to add this info to the Spellbound or Genshin sections, and will be doing so within the coming days.

-Also noted is that Sera and Shiva share a close connection in 7 verses due to this lore, though Sera herself can't tell you much about it, personally. Aria was an elemental familiar of Shiva's, and was hidden away by the goddess a long time ago - But as Shiva can still sense her old friend's bloodline, she's quite taken with Sera and even refuses her calls in an attempt to protect her. This connection is valid solely with the Shiva I write on Shinrarisen, and who will be seeing her own updates in the future.

-I've also rewritten some details among her misc sections to make more sense overall, and tweaked them where they needed, including a mention of Sera overworking herself or falling into a subserviant mindframe while dealing with trauma and PTSD related issues, and that @yoroiis's Thoma, her eldest brother, holds the bloodline of the snow phoenix's brother, the fire phoenix, Aelius, and is part of the reason why their relationship is so tight. Further tweaks have gone into her physical appearance and things like her occupation and hometown, as I've tried to make the main about page less FF-centric and more generalized with notes to what changed in FF.

-Also noted is how her bloodline has drawn her to lifesprings, one of which is the 'koi pond and community garden' in her backstory when it comes to FF7 settings.

-Also of really important but also longest note is a new, small section added to Sera's personality that will be shown more going forward: How she acts with those she trusts most. I've never made it a secret that Sera is very different with people she trusts, and that the more you earn her trust, the more relaxed and playful, even childish, she can seem, all with respect to those around her and their boundaries... But I've always been wary of showing her at her most relaxed, and that's changing going forward, too. Sera is always respectful of those around her and what they can and can't stand and will always present herself in a manner that they're going to be comfortable with, but a Sera that trusts is also an incredibly comfortable Sera, and one who's guard is completely lowered to show the woman deep within she usually keeps hidden from the world - And that woman is one who never had an actual childhood, and is still very naive and innocent.

A fully relaxed and trusting Sera is playful and silly, and will act childish... Because she was never allowed to be otherwise. She's only able to explore 'childhood' now, and she's doing it through those she's closest to; she's relaxed and playful because she has no reason to be afraid those those she's around. She carries a stuffed husky named Zax because it makes her feel better and is a connection to her husband, but it's also just her favorite stuffed animal, and a comfort. She'd wear light up sneakers and hop around in wonder and pure childish delight because they're super cool - But also because she was never allowed this kind of thing before. This is her first experience with it, and she's enjoying it, but she also knows how to be a mature adult when needed of her, or when to tone it down because someone around her doesn't care for silliness; ex. she's not going to run up to @azure-steel's Cloud and give him a stuffed animal if he's not shown he's okay with that kind of behavior around him just because she feels comfortable and safe with him first, but she's also not going to hide the fact she has her stuffed husky or how she lights up completely at a toy store, either. How much of this childish side shows depends on who she's with and how much she knows they'd accept and be okay with, and she'll never cross that line - and especially not act as such in public.

This is also the point where those closest to her will find her last line of defense; Sera has taken pieces of everything others have shown the see in her and treat her as, and used it to form a wall around her heart that, ultimately, is the last protection she keeps up around those she trusts to keep herself safe. Though she is relaxed, content, and happy with those she trusts, she's still plagued by trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and a nightmare deep down that has nearly claimed her life more than once, and this 'last line of defense' is Sera's ultimate go-to to cope with it all, a 'shield' of sorts to keep the nightmares at bay. The biggest example of this is the nickname @honorisen's Zack has given her of 'Kitten'; Sera DOES NOT actually think she's a cat, yet she's still prone to calling herself 'Kitty' with those who're comfortable with it, meowing playfully to get their attention if they're close by, and even viewing problems that creep up as her being a 'bad kitty' - Again, not because she thinks she's a cat, but because it's silly, playful, and makes her feel happy to be silly like that... But also because 'bad kitty' makes things easier for her to cope with, and prevents the nightmares and traumas from forcing her into a spiral that can quickly get out of control. "I've been a bad kitty" is easier for her to cope with when her traumas strike than letting the nightmares make her believe "Sera is a horrible human being nobody would miss". for example, because she's having a flare of her PTSD and someone happened to be minorly irritated with her at the same time.

As mentioned above too, this is all changes mainly made to Sera as an original, multi-fandom/multi-verse character and tweaked to fit into her current settings, as well as updates that were a long time coming anyway, and I'll be finishing up with these updates by working on the Spellbound and Genshin sides tomorrow and over the weekend, which should be much simpler to add things to given her primary, overall info has been updated here, and tweaking some of my rules to account for things in Rebirth and the new Phoenix lore. I'll also be updating again in the future and fine-tuning phrasing as I go through Rebirth (slowly-) alongside @honorisen / @yoroiis, as we get time and chances to play and build up our thoughts; I haven't wanted to add too much regarding it just yet given she's still in Chapter 2 and I'm in chapter 4 at the time of this post! <3

It's been a long, long time since I've been able to update my girl like she deserves, and I'm gonna make that up by getting as much as I can done over this upcoming weekend! <3

Highlights from: DeLorean Time Machine: Doc Brown's Owners' Workshop Manual

I pre-ordered this back in December, having read that it would include sections that add to the BTTF universe & expand the lore & BOY HOWDY. There is some great Doc Brown backstory info and answers to some things fans have wondered about. I devoured it in one sitting and enjoyed every minute of it. Here are some of the highlights, which I'll hide under a cut in case anyone wants to read the book for themselves. But, if you're not planning to, or you just can't wait to get your hands on it...here you go. There is some truly wonderful stuff in here.

• First things first: The beginning of Doc's introduction to the book. It is so very "Doc."

• A decent portion of the book is written in the form of Doc's journal entries dating from all different points in time, but starting in the 1940s where he laments a boring, "stifling" job he had to take after the war ended. There is a termination notice included in one of the entries, which states that Doc was eventually fired. The reason? Dress code violations. Apparently, after previous warnings, "Dr. Brown once again wore a Hawaiian shirt under his lab coat." Fantastic. I don't know what it is with Doc and wearing Hawaiian shirts, but I fully support him.

• Doc became an appliance repairman in 1949, and also mentions getting Copernicus from a shelter

• Doc mentions having hated his previous job because he wasn't free to be creative and focus on what he wanted. However, he likes the repairman job because it's easy, allowing him to be able to daydream/do other science in his head as he works. Y'all, Doc just wants to be left in peace to fixate on science, ok?

• He mentions his parents divorcing somewhere around 1940 (I think this is new information??) & that they had very little contact with each other in the following years. He also notes that he could only refer to his father as "father." The man straight up did not allow Doc to call him dad. The entry concerning his father's death basically boils down to, I feel nothing, I had no attachment to my father. He was a cold, unsupportive man and I need a hug.

Oh Doc, if only there was a small, disheveled child you could take under your wing, and work out your issues by being a wonderful father figure to him.

• After Copernicus passes, Doc gets Edison (who might have been mentioned in the comics but I can't remember). He says that the dog will be a "shining light" in his life and I just- Doc is such a good dog dad.

• He later gets Einstein in 1979, which RUINS a headcanon I had that Doc took a young Marty to help him pick out a new dog, but whatever, it's fine.

• We eventually get to the journal entry where Doc meets Marty! Doc recounts Marty sneaking into his lab and how he soon offered him a job. He refers to Marty as, "curious and fearless" & says that Marty passed the "Einstein test" because the dog loves him.

• ALSO, YES, THERE IS AN ENTRY WHERE DOC SAYS THAT MARTY ASKED HIM TO BUILD THE GIANT AMP AND DOC WRITES, "How can I say no?" AND WITH THAT I SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST GOODBYE EVERYONE

• An entry written after time travel shenanigans reveals that as Doc laid there in the parking lot for those few seconds that Marty thought he was dead, he was not only in shock but getting a rush of memories from the other timeline. So he remembered everything from Twin Pines timeline, including getting shot. SO...I guess that finally answers the question of whether or not Marty also has two sets of memories?

• Has it been previously established that Marlene and Marty Jr. are twins? Because yes, they're twins.

• More details on Marty's drag-race accident in the form of a newspaper clipping attached to a journal entry. Marty apparently broke his right arm, crushed his hand, and got a concussion. (Honestly, can Marty go 5 seconds without a head injury?)

• Doc is basically like, Yo, 2015 Marty is not a good dad.

• Doc's main motivation for building the time train was a recurring nightmare that Marty, upon returning to 1985, was immediately hit by an oncoming train. So, I guess Marty and Doc are both in the "Time Travel PTSD Nightmare Club."

There's, of course, many more gems in the book, so I for sure recommend checking it out. A lot of it is about the more scientific and technical aspects of the time machine, time train, etc, but even that is interesting.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this. I felt like I was unraveling as I wrote it, but like...in a good way.

Spoilers!!!! Charmed 02x04

Okay yall. I love this episode, but this one is actually my least favorite so far. I have a couple of, not concerns, but more than nitpicks, about some things this episode. Overall I'd still give it a 7/10. It was paced well and the added lore was top notch so far and cant wait for more. Anyways, again I will start with things I liked, then move on to the things I didnt, and end with some highlights.

Likes:

1. Mel! Overall Mel is a champ and even though she had big romance storylines, and they developed her character in small ways throughout the first season, I still felt we need more Mel. This episode not only did a good job if staying true to the mel that was built in season 1 but adding onto her. Mel seems to detest the idea of uselessness or at least of being powerless. Which makes sense not only as a minority and a woman but as a lesbian. She grew up not having to hide and with a mother who basically told them they were powerful strong and could do anything. Which is wonderful, but breeds that room for those types of insecurities.

2. Hacy

So actually not that much big hacy moments in comparison to previous episoded, but I love how they are the two interrogating abby and the moment they shared with the safe word.

That said I also didn't like the need for one when Macy said she would just know. Although I argue that the fact she even asked for the safe word was because she knew. Because she tells her sisters to go, trusting him, before she looks onto his eyes. Then when he leans in to touch her and orb them out, either she is put off by the over enthused smirk (he was too happy for the situation) or she wanted to get a look into his eyes. Because if you look at her facial expressions as she is looking into her eyes she seems to doubt that he is Harry and then asks for the safe word before he orbs them out.

I also think they missed a hacy opportunity when he warns Macy to be careful

Harry: she's half demon

Macy: so am I

Harry: but you are you

I'll explain further in the disliked section

4. Maggie and Jordan. Okay so I really like these two together. Hold up though. I like it as a slow developing relationship. Jordan is in a different life stage than Maggie imo. If he were single and went after her immediately or they started a romance I wouldnt like that. Him having someone and Maggie growing up and them building a solid friendship first is what I am here for. I'll talk about her powers later. What I was curious about was the ring on Jordand finger since the camera focus for a bit on his hand when he mentioned his family. I hope he doesnt come from a line of witch hunters or turns out to be some sort of creature later on. I mean on one hand that would be cool and a twist, especially if he remains the same (like doesnt change into a villian just turns out has some history) because I feel like it would be a way of doing the Galvin family history right. I mean I think that is what I enjoyed about Galvins storyline, him being able to help out because of his family history. But they didnt do much with it given the limited screen time. So if they could do something similar with Jordan and give it appropiate attention I would love it. But if they tried to use it for drama I wouldnt because it would be too much like parkerita. Let maggie grow up and have a healthy mature relationship without deception and scary families involved!

5. Dark!Harry as a Darklighter and a Hunter

So I mean we still don't know exactly what darklighters are. I mean we know that they are part of the whitelighter (one person split in half) but we dont know if the elders trained them for a specific purpose. I mean Darry got fighting skills and some resourcefulness. For to come from no where, but the fact he is after powerful beings (so far we dont know exactly why) and he has a connection with Harry is really interesting and has so many possibilities moving forward and I especially love the further similarities is draws to Macy.

Harry (unlike macy) has been split in two he has lived with this unknown part of him that differs from everything he was taught and believed about himself. Like macy this side of him appears to be "evil", although I have a feeling is probably more complicated than that since it obviously is for Macy. So harry has this "dark side". Which will be interesting if they ever have to or can merge the two.

Right now it appears that Darry has nothing to do with the Demon wars (unless you believe he and abby are working together).

Now onto dislikes:

1. Abby. Hold up y'all! I actually love this villainess. I just have some concerns about her background. And also have some thoughts about her possible future role.

So I love that she wants to bring down the patriarchy of the demon world. Her being Caine seems unnecessary, and brings up some questions.

Why didn't Parker ever mention her? He mentioned Hunter. She knew about him. So it would seem a fair assumption that Parker knew about her.

I don't mind adding lore to the previous seasons as long as they make sense. So far what they have added doesn't negate what was established last season (season 1 contradicted itself a couple of times), but with Abby as a Caine they will have to make double sure they don't add anything that would contradict season 1.

Abby as bisexual. Like I love when shows give some bisexual representation! But I am always weary when bisexuals are the villians and they are the only bisexual characters in the show. I am not bisexual, so I can't really say whether the show is doing this well or not well. It is just something I try to be considerate of and so when it happens I am always a bit nervous about it.

2. The Vera-Vaugh sisterhood (mostly on Macy's part). Okay so I am treading lightly on this topic and also would like to point out that I am coming at this from my Latina perspective. But I feel that Macy sees her place and he relationship with her sisters from the "Good Mexican" perspective. Meaning she does crave that connection to her sisters but also views herself as the other. More so she view her sisters as thinking over her as "the good half demon" and for Macy that isnt enough. It still feels like a rejection of part of her. Which in some cases is, but I think for her sisters it isnt that way at all. They dont view her as "a good half-demon" they see her as Macy and as thier sister. But I feel that since Macy, given how she grew up and the insecurities we know she has from season 1, isnt getting the memo. She now knows that her sisters actually love her and will stick with her, but she no longer is craving acceptance, she wants understanding and commonality. Which for her, her sisters cannot give her not just because they are different but because they view the situation differently.

Abby is playing to that so well. I was upset that Macy would reveal the way she got her demon side. It seems not only like a bad move as far as trusting someone you claim not to trust but also just common sense given that I would thing you wouldnt want other demons knowing how to create more demons from humans. Anyways, abby's line of having more in common with each other was pretty brilliant given the little amount of time she has spent with any of them.

I think it is possible, from the patriarchy conversation, that Abby eventually would try to recruit Macy to join her in trying to take over the demon world. That said I am not sure so far if Abby would actually like to share power with anyone. We still dont know much about her character. So her development moving forward will be interesting.

Moving back to the sisters. I think if moving forward the show would do little things to address the issue it would help not only to further build the relationship between the sisters but the power of 4. Things like the line I added between Macy and Harry would show Macy that they are seeming the situation differently. It wont allieviate What Macy is feeling or the fact she still has to figure out what exactly it means to be a half demon or if it does have meaning out side the societal implications.

3. Whitelighter lore. Don't come for me! I love the added lore. I just have some nitpicks.

Alpha. So if the first whitelighter was from Salem then how is there and Egyptian hieroglyph for a whitelighter? Unless the elders just to a hieroglyph and decided to make that one the one for whitelighter? ("Hey what's that" other elder: "I combined two hieroglyph want to use that for our new whitelighters?" First elder: hell yah!)

Okay so if these two are one person made into two and are connected. Then how connected are they? I mean I assume we will get more detail as the show progresses so I am not made about it, but the alpha is always kept near the split part. So in the beginning was it that they couldnt be too far apart or else something bad would happen? Or is it that what happens to one happens to the other. Dark!Harry tried to kill Harry so we could assume that that isnt the case because it would be a death sentence for both (unless dark!harry didnt know and just lucked out be the fact that Harry and him are now immortal because Harry's tie to the elders was severed). Lots of questions regarding what exactly dark!harry knows or doesnt know.

4. Maggie's powers. Dont get me wrong, I love the foresight and its relation to premonitions and Marisol, but it is gonna need some careful explaining. They established that witches are traced through these powers and that the sisters were stripped of them. So then what is this foresight? It cant be a part of her old powers because those were stripped. But if this is a new power can it be used to track the sisters? Or is it something else? A power but unrelated to the powers and triggered by an outside agent (not necessarily a person). Will Mel start to develop new powers as well or again is there something going on with Maggie?

The satisfied look on Darry's face when he is about to orb Macy and him out (I still cant believe the girls werent suspicious of how Harry found orbed to them when none of them called for him)
