It was one of the rare nights that Nightmare decided to actually retire to his room for the night. He didn't need sleep, with enough flow of negativity he could easily survive without it, but sometimes it was nice to just lay down and rest.
He had a dream. They were rare too, if only because he slept so infrequently, but this particular one was common for him when he did. It was about killing Dream. The ongoing war between them was constant on his mind, so it made sense it would invade his unwaking hours as well. In it, he finally managed to crush the life from his twin, in the process gaining unwavering control over the entire multiverse as he watched the other's eyelights dim.
He sat up in his bed.
He was panting. His tendrils, slowly reforming from behind him, were trembling as they hung uncertainly in the air. He realised slowly as he returned to reality that he was gripping the sheets tightly with both hands.
Panic was an emotion Nightmare had rarely been on the other side of for centuries. It took him a few long moments to even identify it from within his own soul, rotten and imprisoned under the corruption. It took him even longer to identify the part of him that he had long assumed dead, which was crying out for nothing more than to cling to his brother for comfort.
For the first time in hundreds of years, Nightmare wasn't sure what he wanted anymore.
(still hasnt recovered from their updated profiles voice) hey so dont you think its rly funny and kinda cute illustration is one of midos specialties and yet these incomprehensible chickenscratch doodles are some of his favorite things in the world
I don’t remember much from my dream last night other than that Goblin fWhip was there and for some reason he was wearing this. Honestly? I don’t entirely know what’s going on with it but it’s kind of a look.
...that some things have changed (including some marigold ventures?) and Atlas May is like uh oh both lackadaisy & i are doomed, but if i set up my own death maybe only i'll be doomed and lackadaisy might have to shutter but perhaps more so on involved people's terms, such as mitzi being fine financially, but also if she thinks it's her fault that'll be good for maintaining my posthumous Image to her, perhaps she did some defrauding again? and i'll have mordecai, my trusted & effective gunman, be the one to fatally shoot me, & of course he doesn't want to, but it's Mere Work Ethic time, what's he gonna do besides argue at all maybe, ultimately refuse? (no) and he may hate it but he's not going to want to fully turn on mitzi or anything after because then what would have been the point
I was so ready to be constantly confused while playing Death Stranding cuz every article I saw about the game was like "Couldn't understand a single thing that happened 10/10" but I think speed-running The Locked Tomb series only a few months ago prepared me perfectly. I didn't get half of what went down in those books and I love them with all my heart. Turns out confusing post-apocalyptic necromancy with peculiar humour, life/death energies, splitting souls between body/mind, unique worldbuilding, cosmic horror and homoerotic vibes is the perfect niche for me
My favourite thing about the Goku and Vegeta relationship is how Goku sees Vegeta as a friend he can do some fighting with, while Vegeta has a one-sided frenemies kind of view of their relationship. Goku stopped seeing Vegeta as an enemy immediately after his death on Namek. He was not even bothered or weirded out by him being on Earth and like basically chilling with the others. While Vegeta still saw him as an enemy he had to surpass and defeat until like the Majin Buu saga. Only after their fusion together I think he started to see him more in a friendly way, although Vegeta would never admit that. I think if Goku said to Vegeta outloud that he likes him, Vegeta would have to take five business days to recover from that because what do you mean you like me, we are enemies, rivals, while also feeling the same way for him, but he would rather die before admitting it to himself and Goku
you know, i always find it really funny when dudebros complain about syndicate and odyssey being too "jokey" or not "taking its characters seriously" or whatever…
like, did y'all collectively sleep through "it's-a me, mario!", "i meant besides vaginas", ezio inventing the latte, bartolomeo's... just... *gestures vaguely* entire character, etc?
like, it's fine to have preferences of course, i myself prefer a more serious and grounded tone, but these are usually the same people who tout the ezio trilogy as "peak assassin's creed", call ac1 a glorified tech demo and hate on connor for being "too serious and boring", like? make it make sense!
creating a fic where Mary doesn't end up marrying John and he and John end up adopting a child whom they name Rose Harry Orion Watson (which later in a separate fic becomes Holmes-Watson when they finally get fucking married).
